Democrats Kill Ban on Terrorists in Schools

Democrats Kill Ban on Terrorists in Schools

'Citizens should be outraged lawmakers are playing political games with our safety'

wnd

Majority Democrats in the California Assembly have rejected two amendments that would have allowed schools to fire any employee discovered to be part of an extremist terror network and require users of school facilities to affirm they are not terrorists.

England argued lawmakers are charged with the duty of defending their citizens from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

"Yet California Democrats placed their radical political agenda ahead of citizens' safety by refusing to prevent terrorists from teaching in our schools. Citizens should be outraged that these lawmakers are playing political games with our safety," she said.

The amendments from Garrick and DeVore "would have required any person or organization seeking use of public school property to sign a 'statement of information' declaring they do not advocate the overthrow of our government and are not part of an extremist terror network. Also, any school employee discovered to be part of an extremist terror network could be fired."

The amendments came as part of discussion on SB 1322, a bill that "will allow communists to teach in public schools and use government property for their meetings," Capital Resource said.

The traditional values advocacy organization said it has opposed the measure "as we recognize the inherent danger in allowing communists – those who seek the violent overthrow of our democratic republic – access to the impressionable minds of young students."

Meredith Turney, legislative liaison for CRFI, said

"It really is shocking that at a time when America is still subject to attacks from radical terrorists and communist governments still terrorize their citizens, California Democrats won't stand up for us. We have brave soldiers putting their lives on the line every day to defend us from such tyranny, but Democrats will not cast a simple vote to do the same here in California. Democrats are quick to side with the latest political cause championing the rights of the oppressed. With their votes today, Democrats have missed their opportunity to make a statement denouncing oppressive communist governments responsible for the misery and suffering of so many worldwide."

A report from Karen England at the Capital Resource Institute said the amendments were submitted by assemblymen Martin Garrick and Chuck DeVore to a plan that also would allow members of the Communist Party to teach in public schools.

"I am appalled that Democrat lawmakers will not agree to these commonsense amendments," said England, executive director of CRFI. "My son is currently serving in Iraq to defend our state and nation from terrorists, yet Democrats will not do their part on the homefront to also defend us from such extremists."

Wild Thing's comment............

There really is no doubt on who America's internal enemies really are --- and the clear and present danger they represent. These liberal lawmakers become more despicable every day.

These are the same lawmakers, who tried to ban day care centers, church schools, church baby sitter centers and schools from running criminal background checks to see if the applicants had jail records or were predators.

Uncle Jay Explains Congress Vacation aka Work Days

It's Uncle Jay's first-ever rerun! Here's his educational "vacation" episode, explaining why Congress needs so many vacation days.

Wild Thing's comment........

They sure work hard don't they. All that paid time off.....amazing. Then they give themselves raises all the time too.

I am glad they are not there to do more harm with that vile Pelosi at the helm. But to be paid for so many days off is stupid.

America Hater 9% Nancy Pelosi Calls Bush 'a total failure'

.

US Congress leader Pelosi calls Bush 'a total failure'

yahoo

US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday called President George W. Bush "a total failure" who "has no ideas," in an interview with CNN.

Responding to stinging criticism from Bush on the Democratic leadership in both houses of Congress and the slow pace of the legislative agenda, as Congress prepares for its one-month summer recess in August, Pelosi let loose:

"You know, God bless him, bless his heart, the president of the United States, a total failure, losing all credibility with the American people on the economy, on the war, on energy, you name the subject."
Pelosi, 68, said the House and Senate were busy "trying to sweep up after (Bush's) mess over and over and over again ... The president knows it. He needs something to talk about. Because he has no ideas."

The speaker was especially critical of Bush's proposal to lift a ban on offshore oil drilling as a means to ease the current fuel price crisis, calling it a ploy to draw attention away from his failures.

"We have seven and a half years of failed energy policy by the Bush administration. We have a faltering, downturning economy. The president needs a decoy.
"So he's going out there, he even has the nerve to say the economy would be better off if we could drill in protected areas offshore," she said, adding the Democrats' proposal to free up the US strategic petroleum reserve, which she said is 91.5 percent full.
"And we're saying let's take 10 percent of that ... and use that to put on the market so that we increase supply, reduce prices, and when the price comes down, we can buy back the oil at a lower price."

Wild Thing's comment........

The phrase 'bless his heart', can be used to insulate a person from whatever ugly thing they want to say about a person.

She is a traitor first, a total failure second!! What a total waste of air Pelosi is and Reid too, heck all of the democrats are! The Do Nothing Congress is ready to take its annual vacation despite not having addressed the problem of soaring gas prices.

Such disgraceful behavior from the “speaker of the house”. There are partisan divides in this country, but to Nancy, Bush is the enemy and AQ is her friend.

She still refuses to acknowledge the success in Iraq.

Her rating numbers are in the pits, and she blames that on President Bush. She ought to be tarred and feathered and dumped over Syria.

The numbers speak for themselves:

Congress approval rating - 9%

President Bush - 28%

OK I know this is popular with a lot of women but I am against it. Botox! When the time comes that I do start to get wrinkles I will own them, and just be glad I am alive and don't have that stuff in my body. I read someplace that Botox can and does find it's way into the nerve system in the brain. Injecting a product of botulism into your skin just because of a few wrinkles??? It is so much more important what the person is on the inside, their character and if they are a good person or not etc.

I seriously believe she should be medically examined to find out if this has happened - for her sake and the nation's. But mostly for our sake. I think she is nuts!

The possibility that a House Leader can be suffering from poison induced insanity (not that she wasn't already insane) should be a big deal. If she is nuts can't we get her removed or something. LOL

Harry Reid Goes Apoplectic On Mitch McConnell

Leader Losing It

NRO

There was a remarkable exchange on the floor of the Senate between Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. It offers pretty stunning evidence of how personally petty Reid is, as well as his penchant for defining “partisanship” as anything that keeps him from getting his way.

The particulars here aren’t terribly important, but what happened was this: The Senate was voting on a Medicare bill bloated with new spending. The bill was also an attempt to prevent cuts in payment rates to doctors who treat seniors on Medicare, and Democrats wanted to pay for that by taking the funds from Medicare Advantage, a private fee-for-service plan. The president would likely have vetoed the bill in its current form and Senate Republicans opposed the gutting of Medicare Advantage, so Senate Republicans blocked the bill. The trouble is that if the Senate doesn’t resolve the issue very soon, doctors will stop receiving Medicare funds. So Republicans proposed a 30-day extension to allow more time to hammer out a compromise. Democrats blocked the proposed extension. The impasse here caused Reid to go apoplectic on Mitch McConnell.

SEN. HARRY REID (D-NV): “I have said we are all here by virtue of being elected by our respective States. I had out here earlier today our Velcro chart, 79 filibusters. Is it any wonder that the House seats that came up during the off year — Hastert’s went Republican, a Republican district that went Democratic; a seat in Louisiana that was a longtime Republican seat went Democratic. Is it any wonder that the State of Mississippi sent us a Democratic House Member? It is no wonder because they see what is going on over here. . . . Mr. President, I am sure it was a Freudian slip — 59 Democrats voted for this. But next year at this time, there will be 59 Democrats at least.” (Sen. Reid, Congressional Record, S.6233, 06/26/08)

SEN. MITCH MCCONNELL (R-KY): Here we are a few days before the doctors receive this unconscionable cut, and the majority is saying it is more important to play politics with this issue, to brag about the fact there are 59 Democrats who voted to go forward, to talk, of all things, during the Medicare debate about who won special elections for the House of Representatives in Illinois, Mississippi, or Louisiana. What in the world does that have to do with the subject matter?

The subject matter before us is not playing political games. . . . And the reality is that the refusal of the majority to approach this issue on a bipartisan basis, as has been typically done in the past, will lead to a Presidential veto, a reduction in the reimbursement rates for doctors, an expiration at the end of the week. There is a way forward to get back together like we have typically done on this, and that is to approve a 30-day extension.

SEN. HARRY REID (D-NV): “A veto by the President? Gee whiz, who would be afraid of him? He has a 29-percent approval rating. How in the world could anybody be afraid of him vetoing a bill? I cannot imagine why anyone would care about that. . . . I say to my friend and I say I don’t know how many people are up here for reelection, but I am watching a few of them pretty closely, I say to all these people who are up for reelection: If you think you can go home and say, I voted no because this weak President, the weakest political standing since they have done polling, I voted because I was afraid to override his veto — come on.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid ridicules the idea of a veto of a Medicare payment bill from President Bush and then threatens Republicans who won't vote with him. Here is a YouTube video of part of the exchange ......

As for his sniffing about being afraid of Bush’s low 29-percent approval rating, Reid would do well to remember that Congress’s approval rating is currently 18.5 percent. Reid’s personal approval rating back in Nevada is 43 percent and has been as low as 32 percent, late last year.

.

Wild Thing's comment............

Reid is a power hungry traitor. McConnell is trying to get him on track, and Reid continues to play politics even after he’d been called out — injecting irrelevant comments about the president’s approval rating and other obvious jabs that have nothing to do with the matter at hand. Little weasel.

I just checked on http://www.usaelectionpolls.com and Congress has a 10 percent favorable approval rating.

A Girly Man Named Chris Satullo Hates America!

Chris Satullo: A not-so-glorious Fourth

The Philadelphia Inquirer

U.S. atrocities are unworthy of our heritage.

Put the fireworks in storage.

Cancel the parade.

Tuck the soaring speeches in a drawer for another time.

This year, America doesn't deserve to celebrate its birthday. This Fourth of July should be a day of quiet and atonement.

For we have sinned.

We have failed to pay attention. We've settled for lame excuses. We've spit on the memory of those who did that brave, brave thing in Philadelphia 232 years ago.

The America those men founded should never torture a prisoner.

The America they founded should never imprison people for years without charge or hearing.

The America they founded should never ship prisoners to foreign lands, knowing their new jailers might torture them.

Such abuses once were committed by the arrogant crowns of Europe, spawning rebellion.

Today, our nation does such things in the name of our safety. Petrified, unwilling to take the risks that love of liberty demands, we close our eyes.

We have done such things, on orders from the Oval Office. We have done them, without general outrage or shame.

Abu Ghraib. Guantanamo. CIA secret prisons. "Rendition" of prisoners to foreign torture chambers.

It's not enough that we had good reason to be scared.

The men huddled long ago in Philadelphia had better reason. A British fleet floated off the Jersey coast, full of hands eager to hang them from the nearest lampposts.

Yet they pledged their lives and sacred honor - no idle vow - to defend the "inalienable rights" of men. Inalienable - what does that signify? It means rights that belong to each person, simply by virtue of being human. Rights that can never be taken away, no matter what evil a person might do or might intend.

Surely one of those is the right not to be tortured. Surely that is a piece of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

This is the creed of July 4: No matter what it costs us, no matter how it scares us, no matter how foolish it seems to a cynical world, America should stand up for human rights.

No, not even the brave men who picked up a quill, dipped it in ink and signed the parchment that summer day in Philadelphia lived up perfectly to the creed. But they did something extraordinary, founding a new nation upon a vow to oppose all the evil habits of tyranny.

That is why history still honors them.

But what will history think of us, of how we responded to our great challenge? Sept. 11 was a hideous evil, a grievous wound. Yet, truth told, it has not summoned our better angels as often as our worst.

We have betrayed the July 4 creed. We trample the vows we make, hand to heart.

Don't imagine that only the torturer's hand bears the guilt. The guilt reaches deep inside our Capitol, and beyond that - to us.

Our silence is complicit. In our name, innocents were jailed, humans tortured, our Constitution mangled. And we said so little.

We can't claim not to have known. The best among us raised the alarm. Heroes in uniform, judges in robes, they opposed the perverse logic of an administration drenched in fear, drunk on power.

But did we heed them? Hardly. Barely . . .

We were so busy. Soccer practice at 6. A credit card balance to fret. The final vote on Idol.

We left it to those in power to keep our precious selves from harm. Whatever it took.

We took the coward's way.

The world sees this, even if we are too dim to grasp it. We've lost respect. We've shamed the memory of Jefferson, Adams and Franklin.

And all for a scam. The waterboarding, the snarling dogs, the theft of sleep - all the diabolical tricks haven't made us safer. They may have averted this plot or that. But they've spawned new enemies by the thousands, made the jihadist rants ring true to so many ears.

So put out no flags.

Sing no patriotic hymns.

We deserve no Fourth this year.

Let us atone, in quiet and humility. Let us spend the day truly studying the example of our Founders. May we earn a new birth of courage before our nation's birthday next rolls around.

Wild Thing's comment..........

Ever notice the hate America crowd always come out from under their rocks close to the Holidays like July 4th?

Subhumnas like this Chris just love to trot out the founders corpses when it suits your needs, otherwise all I ever hear from libs like you is that they were nothing but rich white men etc..

It is people like this that make me extra happy we have a 2nd Amendment. LOCK and LOAD !

May we earn a new birth of courage before our nation's birthday next rolls around.

All that breathless melodrama to let us know he wants to elect a Democrat for president, as if we couldn't have guessed.

Let us spend the day truly studying the example of our Founders.

Don't tell him, but our founding father's certainly wouldn't let him marry this week's gay lover.

What a P.O.S. Chris Satullo is.

Anti-American, liar. If you don’t like the USA, leave the country but don’t expect to get the same freedoms to print such drivel anywhere else.

It's Not Easy Being Green For Democrat Convention ~ LOL

Hundreds of free bikes will be available for anyone looking for an alternative to automobiles during the Democratic convention in Denver -- and also in Minneapolis-St. Paul when the Republicans convene.

From left, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, Director of Bikes Belong Tim Blumenthal, convention organizer Parry Burnap and Dan Oftedahl of Humana, which will provide the free bikes, announced the initiative in early May.

Democrats hope to power media pavilions in part with solar energy. Wind energy will be used to power the convention halls

The Greenest Show on Earth: Democrats Gear Up for Denver

The Wall Street Journal

From Organic Fanny Packs to 'Pure' Trash, Party Planners Face Logistical Nightmare

As the Mile High City gears up to host a Democratic bash for 50,000, organizers are discovering the perils of trying to stage a political spectacle that's also politically correct.

Fanny Packs

The host committee for the Democratic National Convention wanted 15,000 fanny packs for volunteers. But they had to be made of organic cotton. By unionized labor. In the USA.

Official merchandiser Bob DeMasse scoured the country. His weary conclusion: "That just doesn't exist."

Ditto for the baseball caps. "We have a union cap or an organic cap," Mr. DeMasse says. "But we don't have a union-organic offering."

Much of the hand-wringing can be blamed on Denver's Democratic mayor, John Hickenlooper, who challenged his party and his city to "make this the greenest convention in the history of the planet."

Convention organizers hired the first-ever Director of Greening, longtime environmental activist Andrea Robinson. Her response to the mayor's challenge: "That terrifies me!"

After all, the last time Democrats met in Denver -- to nominate William Jennings Bryan in 1908 -- they dispatched horse-drawn wagons to bring snow from the Rocky Mountains to cool the meeting hall. Ms. Robinson suspected modern-day delegates would prefer air conditioning. So she quickly modified the mayor's goal: She'd supervise "the most sustainable political convention in modern American history."

Now, she must pull it off.

To test whether celebratory balloons advertised as biodegradable actually will decompose, Ms. Robinson buried samples in a steaming compost heap. She hired an Official Carbon Adviser, who will measure the greenhouse-gas emissions of every placard, every plane trip, every appetizer prepared and every coffee cup tossed. The Democrats hope to pay penance for those emissions by investing in renewable energy projects.

Perhaps Ms. Robinson's most audacious goal is to reuse, recycle or compost at least 85% of all waste generated during the convention.

The Trash Brigade

To police the four-day event Aug. 25-28, she's assembling (via paperless online signup) a trash brigade. Decked out in green shirts, 900 volunteers will hover at waste-disposal stations to make sure delegates put each scrap of trash in the proper bin. Lest a fork slip into the wrong container unnoticed, volunteers will paw through every bag before it is hauled away.

Lest a fork slip into the wrong container unnoticed, volunteers will paw through every bag before it is hauled away.

"That's the only way to make sure it's pure," Ms. Robinson says.

Food

No fried food. And, on the theory that nutritious food is more vibrant, each meal should include "at least three of the following colors: red, green, yellow, blue/purple, and white." (Garnishes don't count.) At least 70% of ingredients should be organic or grown locally, to minimize emissions from fuel burned during transportation. "One would think," says Mr. Burns, "that the Democrats in Denver have bigger fish to bake -- they have ruled out frying already -- than mandating color-coordinated pretzel platters."

The city has staged "greening workshops" attended by hundreds of caterers, restaurant owners and hotel managers.

"It's the new patriotism," Mayor Hickenlooper says.

Coors Conflict

But it's almost inevitable that principles, politics and profit will conflict. To wit: Coors Brewing Co., in Golden, Colo., will donate biofuel made from beer waste to power the convention's fleet of flex-fuel vehicles. A green star for the convention -- but it has rankled die-hard liberals, who boycotted Coors in the 1960s and '70s to protest hiring practices that they said discriminated against blacks, Latinos, women and gays. Heirs to the Coors fortune have long been active in conservative causes and Republican politics.

Convention officials say Coors is a good corporate citizen. And a Coors spokeswoman says the donation was a gesture of civic pride, not politics.

No matter, grumbles Anna Flynn, a longtime union member from Denver who objected to the donation. "Any way you put it, it's still Coors," she says.

So will the fanny packs -- made in the USA of undyed, organic fabric. Mr. DeMasse vows to get a union shop to print the logo, but he says the ink will be petroleum based. Unless, that is, he decides to get the logo embroidered -- with biodegradable thread.

Wild Thing's comment.......

LOL This is going to be so much fun to watch....too bad Hillary won't be a major player to stir things up.

"Decked out in green shirts, 900 volunteers will hover at waste-disposal stations to make sure delegates put each scrap of trash in the proper bin. Lest a fork slip into the wrong container unnoticed, volunteers will paw through every bag before it is hauled away."

LMAO this is rich! hahaha They could call them the Green Nazi Patrol. And if they were really serious they should ban all private jets to the convention.
You just know if Gore is going to be there he will be arriving on his private jet.

Just Who Is Rep. Maurice Hinchey?

Rep. Hinchey speaks with Code Pink Women

re: $124 billion supplemental for more war funding in Iraq, the Occupation of Iraq, and Bush administration

He was particularly noted for his work on protecting the natural environment. For fourteen years he chaired the Committee on Environmental Conservation. One highlight of his tenure was the passage of the country's first law concerning regulation of acid rain.

he no longer bills himself as a conservative or even a moderate Democrat. In fact, he is one of the most liberal members of the House, and one of the state's most liberal congressmen outside New York City. For example, his website states, "He was one of the first and most outspoken opponents of the 2003 war in Iraq."

He now serves on the powerful Appropriations Committee, a post that helps him deliver federal support on programs important to his district.

Hinchey is a member of Congressional Progressive Caucus, a group of liberal congressmen.

Representative Hinchey has been one of Congress' strongest voices in support of medical marijuana. The Hinchey-Rohrabacher medical marijuana amendment -- which has been introduced in the United States House of Representatives every year since 2003

Maurice Hinchey Voting record:

Voted YES on tax incentives for renewable energy. (Feb 2008)

John Kerry Keen To Be US Top Diplomat

John Kerry keen to be US' top diplomat

June 16,2008

NEW YORK:

John Kerry, who suffered defeat at the hands of President George Bush in last US elections, now harbours aspiration to become Secretary of State if presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama wins the race to the White House in November.

Kerry, who is the third ranking Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, is keen to be nation's top diplomat but does not eye the bigger prize of vice-presidency, Newsweek on Sunday quoted an unidentified source close to him as saying.

That could also well be the case for Connecticut Senator Christopher Dodd, the committee's second-ranking Democrat and for Senator Joseph Biden, the committee's chairman, who is frequently mentioned by Democratic insiders as a potential Secretary of State though both might give the V-P post their first priority, the report said.

Kerry is a decorated Vietnam War veteran, but because his Senate experience is in foreign relations rather than military affairs, he's more intrigued by the State Department than the Pentagon, Newsweek said quoting the source. He also speaks fluent French.

Dodd, meanwhile, has recently been showcasing his expertise on Latin America. At an April conference at the US Naval Academy, he laid out a blueprint for a "new relationship" between the United States and the region, the report noted.

Dodd's plan would include efforts to "dramatically improve" relations with Raul Castro's Cuba by lifting a US trade embargo and travel ban.

Traitor John Kerry through the years

John Kerry, from his book, The New Soldier:

This John Kerry quote comes in the epilogue to "The New Soldier," the book put out by Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) . The book's cover features a group of not-particularly sober-looking anti-war protesters (vets, presumably) flying the American flag upside down while mocking the historic flag raising event at Iwo Jima":

"We will not quickly join those who march on Veterans' Day waving small flags, calling to memory those thousands who died for the "greater glory of the United States." We will not accept the rhetoric. We will not readily join the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars-in fact, we will find it hard to join anything at all and when we do, we will demand relevancy such as other organizations have recently been unable to provide. We will not take solace from the creation of monuments or the naming of parks after a select few of the thousands of dead Americans and Vietnamese. We will not uphold traditions which decorously memorialize that which was base and grim. It is from these things the New Soldier is asking America to turn. We are asking America to turn from false glory, hollow victory, fabricated foreign threats, fear which threatens us as a nation, shallow pride which feeds off fear, and mostly from the promises which have proven so deceiving these past ten years. "

Kerry testifies before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1971.

"Under questioning from the Committee, Kerry referred to the democratically elected government of South Vietnam -- our allies -- as a "dictatorial regime, the Thieu-Ky-Khiem regime," while respectfully calling the North Vietnamese communist regime we were fighting by its oxymoronic official name, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, and the murderous Viet Cong's political arm by their preferred "Provisional Revolutionary Government."

John Kerry and the VVAW--Hanoi's American Puppets

"Two recently discovered documents captured from the Vietnamese communists during the Vietnam War strongly support the contention that a close link existed between the Hanoi regime and the Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) while John Kerry served as the group's leading national spokesman."

Kerry and Obama would probably be on the same diplomatic page. Unconditional surrender.

Kerry should have been punished for treason when he did the above and other things back in the 70's. If you like you can go to a page I made when Kerry was running for President. It is called Extreme Prejudice The Red Zone. It has a lot more information there.

Muslim Keith Ellison Addresses Nat. Conference for Media Reform

Socialist Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison: "America An Imperial Power"

Congressman Keith Ellison address the National Conference for Media Reform in Minneapolis, June 6, 2008.

Keith Ellison is America's first ever Muslim congressman and his election was hailed by the MSM as a great step forward and a sign of our enlightened times.

Ellison talks about how Ronald Reagan made him sick but Bush makes him sicker. He calls America an “imperial power.” Then he suggests that the country should get rid of “hate radio” and Fox News.

.

Wild Thing's comment........

So much for moderate Muslims once again they prove there is no such thing.

I imagine Keith Ellison will be on Obama's top 10 guest list IF Obama becomes President.

Democrats, Enviro's and Rino's Are To Blame for High Price of Energy

Congress: Democrats oppose extracting 10 billion barrels of oil from ANWR because it won't affect prices, but want to tap our strategic reserve of 700 million because it will. Come again?

Investors Business Daily

At a hearing last week before the House Committee on Global Warming, Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass., said he didn't understand why President Bush wasn't releasing oil from the nation's reserves stored in underground salt domes in Texas and Louisiana.

Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman tried to explain that the stockpile "is meant to deal with . . . the physical interruption of the flow of oil to this country. We don't have that issue today."

We might, however, in the event of a conflict with, say, Iran. And for that reason, we believe the SPR should remain — what's the word? — "pristine" and filled to the brim.

But we not only need the SPR; we need more reserves — from the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge to shale oil in the Rockies to the outer continental shelf.

Instead, we have the likes of Rep. Markey, who last year introduced H.R. 39, legislation that would make the 1.2-million-acre coastal plain of ANWR a permanently protected wilderness.

Oil development would affect only 2,000 acres, yet Markey et al. seek to end forever efforts to develop its energy resources to benefit Americans.

Never mind that off the coast of Louisiana, not far from our strategic reserve, there are 3,200 offshore oil platforms that survived Hurricane Katrina without leaking a drop of crude.

Also never mind that Louisiana produces a third of America's commercial fisheries; fish thrive amid the platforms. Yet we are barred from more offshore exploration because of fears of spills and imaginary threats to marine life.

In our world, 10 billion is a lot bigger than 700 million. It's bigger in Bodman's world as well. The biggest factor affecting prices, he said, is that beginning in 2005 "there has been no change in global production" and "demand has outstripped supply."

The Energy Information Administration says the U.S. by itself will need 19% more energy in 2030. Add in the rest of the world and the growing economies of China and India, and you're talking 55% more energy demand. Despite our best efforts, more than 60% of that demand will be for oil and natural gas.

As President Bush said at a recent press conference, the Department of Energy has estimated that ANWR development, vetoed by Hillary Clinton's husband in 1995, would add a million barrels of oil to our daily supply.

That, he said, "translates to about 27 million gallons of gasoline and diesel every day." And that, he continued, "would be about a 20% increase of oil . . . and likely mean lower gas prices."

In last week's annual scapegoating of Big Oil, John Hofmeister, president of Shell Oil Co., told his Senate inquisitors: "This persistent denial of access is costing American consumers right out of their pocketbooks."

ANWR is only the tip of the iceberg, no pun intended. The outer continental shelf holds an estimated 115 billion barrels of oil and 635 trillion feet of natural gas. If allowed to develop these resources in Alaska, the shelf and elsewhere, U.S. reserves would increase by a factor of five, and we'd jump from 11th to fourth in the world in the size of our proven reserves.

Enough, in other words, to make OPEC blink — and gas prices drop.

Las Vegas Sun

The Democrats continue their efforts to blame the rising prices of gasoline and fuel oil on the Republicans and, in particular, the Bush administration. There is no bigger lie to be foisted upon the American public.
Since 1980, almost 29 years ago, the Democrats began their refusal to allow offshore drilling, Alaskan oil drilling, the construction of nuclear power plants and wind farms off the coast of New England. Their claims, however foolish, were designed to protect the interests of their political contributors, not the pocketbooks of the American citizenry.
Now the Democrats want to blame the Republican Party for failure to levy fines for “price gouging” by Big Oil. Never mind the fact that they, the Democrats, ran on the promise to keep gasoline prices low and punish Big Oil for price gouging.
The Democrat spokesmen all say that if we were to allow drilling offshore, in Alaska, and that if we were to allow nuclear power plants, it would be at least 10 years before we would realize anything in production. That may be true, but if we had begun to act in 1980, 29 years ago, the “10 year” claim would be a moot point! We would have had energy prices under control, and facts are facts!

Wild Thing's comment.........

Every time someone complains to me about these “outrageous gas prices,” I tell them, “Blame the Democrats who have kept us from drilling for more oil the last 30 years.”

This makes me so angry. These people that have done this to our country over the years, the enviro mentally ill human pieces of flesh which are also democrats, and the democrats that sit on their non working butts and do nothing for this country and the rino's that go along with this crap......should be put in prison in some third world country and never let out into society again.

I am so sick of these enviro's controlling our country the way they have done. Sick of this enemy within we have that do this kind of thing, the same people that do NOT support our troops, the same people that want socialism/ communism for the United States of America.

Ted Kennedy Rushed To Hospital

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy is transported on a stretcher to a waiting Med Flight helicopter at Barnstable Municipal Airport this morning for transport to a Boston hospital.

Sen. Kennedy falls ill; taken to Boston hospital by helicopter
HYANNIS

Cape Cod Times

U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy was rushed by ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital this morning after falling ill at the Kennedy compound in Hyannisport.

Hyannis fire responded to the compound after a call was made around 8:30 a.m. It's unclear what Kennedy's medical condition is, but after he spent almost two hours in the emergency room a decision was made to transfer him to Mass General Hospital in Boston.

Kennedy, 76, was placed on a stretcher and wheeled out to the MedFlight helicopter around 10:15 a.m. where it took off from Barnstable Municipal Airport.

The Kennedy family is preparing to host the annual Best Buddies Challenge event in Hyannisport this afternoon, which is a fund-raiser for the organization. Best Buddies was founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver and helps people with intellectual disabilities.

Hundreds are expected to participate in the event, which kicked off this morning with a 100-mile bicycle ride from the Kennedy Library in Boston to Hyannisport.

A concert at the Kennedy compound is scheduled for tonight.

Kennedy has represented Massachusetts in the United States Senate for forty-three years.

He was elected in 1962 to finish the final two years of the Senate term of his brother, Senator John F. Kennedy, who was elected president in 1960.

Since then, Kennedy has been re-elected to seven full terms, and is now the second most senior member of the Senate.

"Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, beginning a tour of hospitals in Eugene, Ore., told reporters that he had been in touch with the senator's family. "Ted Kennedy is a giant in American political history. He's done more for health care than just about anybody in history. We are going to be routing for him. I insist on being optimistic about how it's going to turn out."

Barney Frank Will Move to Defund War Under Democrat President

Barney Frank Will Move to Defund War Under Democrat President

CNSNews

House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) told Cybercast News Service on Tuesday he will move to end the Iraq War with an immediate termination of funding if a Democrat becomes president next year.

"I will move to cut funding immediately," said Frank. "I have already done that. I voted against the war and voted to cut the funding. I would hope a Democratic president would put in place a plan that would begin a total withdrawal."

So far, neither of the Democratic presidential candidates, Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton, has been willing to unambiguously commit to a plan to remove all U.S. troops from Iraq by 2013.

When the Democratic candidates were asked by NBC's Tim Russert, during the Sept. 26, 2007 debate, if they would pledge to withdraw U.S. combat troops by 2013 if they were elected president, neither Obama nor Clinton would make the pledge.

"I think it's hard to project four years from now," said Obama. "It is very difficult to know what we're going to be inheriting," Clinton said.

When Cybercast New Service asked Frank if he believed the U.S. would be out of Iraq by 2013, he said he cannot make any guarantees but that he will do his best to make sure that it happens.

"Read the Constitution," he said. "As an individual member of the House, I cannot guarantee anything like that, but I can guarantee you that I will continue to support a withdrawal well before 2013."
House Ways and Means Chairman Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) also said it is not possible to set 2013 as a definite deadline for withdrawal. "I would say that anyone who gives a guarantee should be committed," he said.

Rep.Kennedy ~ "Mental Health, Drug History Makes Him Stronger Advocate"

Rep. Kennedy Says Mental Health, Drug History Makes Him Stronger Advocate

Fox News

WASHINGTON

Rep. Patrick Kennedy says his personal struggles to recover from depression, alcoholism and substance abuse have made him a more compelling advocate in Congress for improved mental health care coverage.

The Rhode Island Democrat, a son of Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts, played a leading role winning House passage last month on a bill to expand coverage for people needing mental health and addiction treatment.

"My own story gave a lot of my colleagues a comfort level to tell me their own stories, privately," he said in a recent telephone interview with The Associated Press. "In the process it tied them into this debate personally in ways I think that gave traction to this legislation early on."

Kennedy, 40, crashed his car into a Capitol barricade in the middle of the night nearly two years ago, and agreed to a plea deal on a charge of driving under the influence of prescription drugs. He speaks publicly about his own recovery in hopes of ending the stigma of mental illness that prevents people from seeking treatment.

Kennedy, who has battled addiction since high school, said he's pleased his father can "see now at this stage of the game that some of my perceived darker moments turned out to be the silver linings in this great battle that I fought."
Those darker moments, he said, "gave me a platform and a credibility and a stature and a human quality in the House as a spokesperson on this issue that allowed me to cut through a lot of the white noise that insulates members from really facing these issues and addressing them honestly when they're being lobbied so heavily by special interests."

Kennedy and his father are on different sides as the House and Senate try to forge a compromise on expanding coverage for people needing mental health and addiction treatment. Big health care, insurance and pharmaceutical interests are waging a high-stakes fight in Congress over what has come to be known as mental health parity.

The younger Kennedy helped lead the push for the House bill that would require equal health insurance coverage for mental and physical illnesses when policies cover both.

His father was instrumental in winning Senate approval last September of a narrower version of the bill with support from business and insurance groups.

The elder Kennedy, D-Mass., has a reputation as one of the most skilled legislators in Congress, often working with Republicans to craft major bills during more than four decades in the Senate. He said he enjoys working with his son, despite their differing views.

"We're always in contact," the senator said. "We talk all the time. There are some important differences, you don't minimize those ... We still have a ways to go, but I think it's important that we are making progress."

The congressman hopes his father can help win GOP support for whatever compromise emerges.

"I am so glad my dad is there with me at the table, because if there's anybody who knows how to work with Republicans and can work as good a deal as possible to try to break this free ... it's my dad," he said.

Gore Guru of GloBull Warming Bars Press From Speech In San Francisco

NewsBusters

For a man who gets better press than virtually any person walking the planet, one has to wonder why Nobel Laureate Al Gore would ever want to bar media representatives from one of his speeches.

After all, it's not like anyone is going to ask him a tough question, or write something that might expose him as the charlatan most folks not drinking the Kool -- er, I mean Global Warming-Aid understand him to be.

However, that's exactly what happened Friday afternoon when the Global Warmingest-in-Chief spoke at the RSA Conference with specific instructions for no press members to be allowed through the doors of the Moscone Convention Center.

When Al Gore agreed to talk at the end of the RSA 2008 conference, the 2007 Nobel Laureate stipulated in his contract with RSA that no members of the press would be allowed inside the keynote address.

Apparently, this is a common practice now for Gore.

Press protestations are becoming a habit of Gore's.

"When he gave his now-famous global warming slide presentation at the TED conference in 2006 (Technology, Entertainment and Design) I tried to approach him after the presentation to ask a question and was thwarted by his aggressive spokesman who planted himself between me and the former v.p. and griped that I'd been allowed to attend the presentation. He said the talk was supposed to have been off-limits to press (although the conference organizers never mentioned this to me, and no one tried to prevent me from entering the auditorium, although my badge clearly indicated I was press). Gore's spokesman took down my name and affiliation and warned that I wasn't to write anything about the event.

Gore, whose speaker fee is reportedly $100,000, spoke again at TED this year, which I wrote about for Wired's Epicenter blog. There were no restrictions on press covering that talk other than regarding photos. The conference wanted press to use only official photos provided by TED.

Last year the Smoking Gun published a copy of Gore's speaker's contract, which stipulates that all press are to be barred from his appearances and that the conditions of the contract cannot be disclosed to anyone."

Is it possible Gore doesn't want press members present as he recommends people invest in companies that he already has a stake in? This is exactly what he did about a month ago in Monterey, California, as NewBusters reported Friday.

In fact, according to C/Net News.com, this was virtually the same "You Should Be Investing in What I'm Investing In" speech he gave in Monterey:

Interesting tidbit:
During the speech here, the 2007 Nobel Laureate was interrupted by hecklers three times; each was removed by security.

Wild Thing's comment........

Interesting — he wants to plot in secrecy. That seems to be the new thing now. Obama did not want the press to know about his fund raiser with San Francisco’s “Billionaire Row”, Bush and Kennedy etc. have secret behind door meetings about the Amnesty and exclude any conservative politicians that would disagree in the discussion. hmmmmmm yes it does seem that to move a country into socialism has to be done in secret then they what ? Lay it on us in one swoop and wait for the outrage?

Just curious.

....Thanks RAC for the $5.00 graphic, giggle it is perfect.

Gore Ad Likens Global Warming Fight to D-Day!

Gore launches $300 mln climate change campaign

Reuters

By Deborah Zabarenko, Environment Correspondent

Al Gore, former U.S. vice president, Academy Award winner and Nobel peace laureate, on Monday launched a $300 million, three-year campaign to mobilize Americans on climate change.

"We can solve the climate crisis, but it will require a major shift in public opinion and engagement," Gore said in a statement.

"The technologies exist, but our elected leaders don't yet have the political will to take the bold actions required. When politicians hear the American people calling loud and clear for change, they'll listen," he said.

A longtime environmental activist, Gore chairs the Alliance for Climate Protection, which unveiled the "We" campaign with a series of videos, a Web site -- www.wecansolveit.org -- and a television advertisement set to air during such programs as "American Idol," "House," and "Law & Order."

The first ad likens the battle against climate change to U.S. troops storming the beaches at Normandy during World War Two, the struggle for civil rights and the drive to send humans to the moon.

"We didn't wait for someone else" to tackle these historic problems, the actor William H. Macy says in the spot. "We can't wait for someone else to solve the global climate crisis. We need to act now."

Future spots are expected to feature such "unlikely allies" as civil rights activist Al Sharpton and conservative preacher Pat Robertson, and country singers Toby Keith and the Dixie Chicks speaking together against climate change.

"What's different about this (campaign) is for the first time ever, we're going to be able to reach the general public in their daily lives through television, through media, through community-based organizations ... and online," Cathy Zoi, the alliance's chief executive officer, said by telephone.

Zoi said that ultimately the United States needs new laws to limit the greenhouse gas emissions that spur climate change, "but frankly, in the first instance, we want to get people to join the movement."

She said 9 percent to 10 percent of Americans are already active in the movement against climate change, and 80 percent are aware of the problem.

Wild Thing's comment........

I find this commercial extremely offensive. To compare global warming kooks with men who sacrificed and saw their fellow soldiers be blown apart on the beaches is sickening. When do we get to call in airstrikes against the eviro-whacks?

LOL I can't help but laugh though at the title of the writer of the article......."Environment Correspondent"....good grief.

Saddam Paid For Lawmakers' Iraq Trip

The congressmen brought an anti-war message

US: Saddam paid for lawmakers' Iraq trip

Federal prosecutors say Saddam Hussein's intelligence agency secretly financed a trip to Iraq for three U.S. lawmakers during the run-up to the U.S.-led invasion.

An indictment in Detroit accuses Muthanna Al-Hanooti of arranging for three members of Congress to travel to Iraq in October 2002 at the behest of Saddam's regime. Prosecutors say Iraqi intelligence officials paid for the trip through an intermediary.

In exchange, Al-Hanooti allegedly received 2 million barrels of Iraqi oil.

The lawmakers are not mentioned but the dates correspond to a trip by Democratic Reps. Jim McDermott of Washington, David Bonior of Michigan and Mike Thompson of California. There was no indication the three lawmakers knew the trip was underwritten by Saddam.

And this.............

Prosecutors: Saddam’s regime paid for U.S. lawmakers’ prewar trip

The lawmakers are not named in the indictment but the dates correspond to a trip by Democratic Reps. Jim McDermott, Washington; David Bonior, Michigan; and Mike Thompson, California. None was charged and Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd said investigators “have no information whatsoever” any of them knew the trip was underwritten by Saddam.

During the trip, the lawmakers expressed skepticism about the Bush administration’s claims that Saddam was stockpiling weapons of mass destruction. Though such weapons ultimately never were found, the lawmakers drew criticism for their trip at the time.

Al-Hanooti was arrested Tuesday night while returning to the U.S. from the Middle East, where he was looking for a job, his attorney, James Thomas, said. Al-Hanooti pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of conspiracy to act as an unregistered agent of a foreign government, illegally purchasing Iraqi oil and lying to authorities. He was being held on $100,000 bail.

Wild Thing's comment........

Treason charges should be filed! Hey Nancy Pelosi, does this meet your "high" ethical standards?

And who has the where-with-all to do anything about these fine Congressmen? NOBODY!! As usual. The inmates control now the asylum.

"Democratic Reps. Jim McDermott of Washington, David Bonior of Michigan and Mike Thompson of California. There was no indication the three lawmakers knew the trip was underwritten by Saddam"

Oh of course they didn't have a clue...what a bunch of BS. Who did they think was paying?!?!

Are any of these seats being contested in November? Hmmmmmm let's see now, Bonior retired from Congress several years ago, McDermott is a commie America-hater and Thompson I don't know about.

From 2002 National Catholic Reporter:
......conservative columnist George F. Will termed Bonior and his two Democratic colleagues "useful idiots"--useful to Saddam Hussein, that is. Pundit Christopher Caldwell termed the Baghdad visit a "treason tour."

From the Omega Letter:

Who Did Saddam Bribe?
List Names Top Officials in France, Russia
Terror - Islam
Monday, February 09, 2004
MEMRI

On January 25, 2004, a daily newspaper in Iraq called al Mada published a list of individuals and organizations who it says received oil from the now-deposed regime. Among those listed is Shakir al Khafaji, an Iraqi-American from Detroit, who ran "Expatriate Conferences" for the regime in Baghdad. Al Khafaji also contributed $400,000 to the production of Scott Ritter's film "In Shifting Sands." Finally, al Khafaji arranged travel and financing for the "Baghdad Democrats"--Jim McDermott, Mike Thompson and David Bonior--last fall. Following the trip, al Khafaji contributed $5,000 to McDermott's Legal Defense Fund.

And one last one here from the past:

US lawmakers push diplomacy in Iraq

30 September, 2002

BBC News

The congressmen brought an anti-war message

The three members of the House of Representatives - David Bonior, Jim McDermott and Mike Thompson - have been in Iraq for four days to assess the humanitarian situation.

Mr McDermott, of Washington state, said the US should concentrate on making sure Iraq was safe, not toppling its leader.

"Regime change requires war, disarming can be done diplomatically," he said.

He also suggested that former President Jimmy Carter, who has become involved in peace-making and monitoring elections, could check that the UN inspectors were allowed to do their checks unhindered.

....Thank you Jack for the article, there is no other name for this then treason. Jack's blog is Conservative Insurgent.

Wall Street Celebrates Spitzer's Possible Fall

Spitzer's Rise and Fall

The Wall Street Journal

One might call it Shakespearian if there were a shred of nobleness in the story of Eliot Spitzer's fall. There is none. Governor Spitzer, who made his career by specializing in not just the prosecution, but the ruin, of other men, is himself almost certainly ruined.

Mr. Spitzer's brief statement yesterday about a "private matter" surely involves what are widely reported to be his activities with an expensive prostitution ring discovered by the U.S. Attorney's office for the Southern District of New York. Those who believe Eliot Spitzer is getting his just desserts may be entitled to that view, but it misses the greater lesson for our politics.

Mr. Spitzer coasted into the Governorship on the wings of a reputation as a "tough" public prosecutor. Mr. Spitzer, though, was no emperor. He had not merely arrogated to himself the powers he held and used with such aggression. He was elected.

In our system, citizens agree to invest one of their own with the power of public prosecution. We call this a public trust. The ability to bring the full weight of state power against private individuals or entities has been recognized since the Magna Carta as a power with limits. At nearly every turn, Eliot Spitzer has refused to admit that he was subject to those limits.

The stupendously deluded belief that the sitting Governor of New York could purchase the services of prostitutes was merely the last act of a man unable to admit either the existence of, or need for, limits. At the least, he put himself at risk of blackmail, and in turn the possible distortion of his public duties. Mr. Spitzer's recklessness with the state's highest elected office, though, is of a piece with his consistent excesses as Attorney General from 1999 to 2006.

He routinely used the extraordinary threat of indicting entire firms, a financial death sentence, to force the dismissal of executives, such as AIG's Maurice "Hank" Greenberg. He routinely leaked to the press emails obtained with subpoena power to build public animosity against companies and executives. In the case of Mr. Greenberg, he went on national television to accuse the AIG founder of "illegal" behavior. Within the confines of the law itself, though, he never indicted Mr. Greenberg. Nor did he apologize.

In perhaps the incident most suggestive of Mr. Spitzer's lack of self-restraint, the then-Attorney General personally threatened John Whitehead after the former Goldman Sachs chief published an article on this page defending Mr. Greenberg. "I will be coming after you," Mr. Spitzer said, according to Mr. Whitehead's account. "You will pay the price. This is only the beginning, and you will pay dearly for what you have done."

Jack Welch, the former head of GE, said he was told to tell Ken Langone -- embroiled in Mr. Spitzer's investigation of former NYSE chairman Dick Grasso -- that the AG would "put a spike through Langone's heart." New York Congresswoman Sue Kelly, who clashed with Mr. Spitzer in 2003, had her office put out a statement that "the attorney general acted like a thug."

These are not merely acts of routine political rough-and-tumble. They were threats -- some rhetorical, some acted upon -- by one man with virtually unchecked legal powers.

Eliot Spitzer's self-destructive inability to recognize any limit on his compulsions was never more evident than his staff's enlistment of the New York State Police in a campaign to discredit the state's Senate Majority Leader, Joseph Bruno. On any level, it was nuts. Somehow, Team Spitzer thought they could get by with it. In the wake of that abusive fiasco, his public approval rating plunged.

Mr. Spitzer's dramatic fall yesterday began in the early afternoon with a posting on the Web site of the New York Times about the alleged link to prostitutes. The details in the criminal complaint about "Client-9," who is reported to be Mr. Spitzer, will now be played for titters by the press corps. But one may ask: Where were the media before this? With a few exceptions, the media were happy to prosper from his leaks and even applaud, rather than temper, the manifestly abusive instincts of a public official.

There really is nothing very satisfying about the rough justice being meted out to Eliot Spitzer. He came to embody a system that revels in the entertainment value of roguish figures who rise to power by destroying the careers of others, many of them innocent. Better still, when the targets are as presumably unsympathetic as Wall Street bankers and brokers.

Acts of crime deserve prosecution by the state. The people, in turn, deserve prosecutors and officials who understand the difference between the needs of the public good and the needs of unrestrained personalities who are given the honor of high office.

Wild Thing's comment........

I am no fan of Spitzer on many levels. He has ruined the lives of good men, hard working men that accomopilshed the American dream. His morives were for political reasons and not because he was some crusader for honor or integrity.

There was Troopergate and then also the licenses-for-illegals.

Just as an example of the kind of total as Spitzer has been:

Mr. Spitzer Has Gone Too Far by John C. Whitehead (April 22, 2005)

Something has gone seriously awry when a state attorney general can go on television and charge one of America's best CEOs and most generous philanthropists with fraud before any charges have been brought, before the possible defendant has even had a chance to know what he personally is alleged to have done, and while the investigation is still under way.

And then there was this also:

Eliot Spitzer and Fred Dicker, Albany Press Conference discussingi 'Troopergate" ( "troopergate," a dirty-tricks plot to smear Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno, a Republican rival. )

And some more of what a NON great guy Spitzer has been:

ELIOT SPITZ FIRE BLOWS UP AT GOP CRITIC

NY Post

ALBANY - Gov. Spitzer viciously berated a state lawmaker, saying, "I am a f - - - ing steamroller" who will crush the assemblyman and anyone else who stands in his way, The Post has learned.

Sources told The Post yesterday that an enraged Spitzer bitterly denounced Assembly Minority Leader James Tedisco last week after the Schenectady-based Republican called to complain that he had been cut out of negotiations on a just-announced proposed new state ethics law.

"Listen, I'm a f - - - ing steamroller, and I'll roll over you and anybody else," Democrat Spitzer angrily yelled at Tedisco - who was driving in his car and speaking on a cellphone, sources familiar with the conversation said.

Spitzer then boasted about his political strength, saying, "I've done more in three weeks than any governor has done in the history of the state," the sources said.

Tedisco later said, "He [Spitzer] has a different side to him than a lot of people realize.

Vermont Towns Put Bush and Cheney On Arrest List

Vermont towns vote to arrest Bush and Cheney

WASHINGTON (Reuters)

Voters in two Vermont towns on Tuesday approved a measure that would instruct police to arrest President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for "crimes against our Constitution," local media reported.

The nonbinding, symbolic measure, passed in Brattleboro and Marlboro in a state known for taking liberal positions on national issues, instructs town police to "extradite them to other authorities that may reasonably contend to prosecute them."

Vermont, home to maple syrup and picture-postcard views, is known for its liberal politics.

State lawmakers have passed nonbinding resolutions to end the war in Iraq and impeach Bush and Cheney, and several towns have also passed resolutions of impeachment. None of them have caught on in Washington.

Bush has never visited the state as president, though he has spent vacations at his family compound in nearby Maine.

Roughly 12,000 people live in Brattleboro, located on the Connecticut River in the state's southeastern corner. Nearby Marlboro has a population of roughly 1,000.

Wild Thing's comment........

I wonder what would happen if the FBI and about 5,000 federal marshal’s showed up and took down the names of the voters and arrested them all for treason and shipped them all to GITMO?

Better yet, just throw a barbed wire enclosure around both towns and release the Gitmo detainees in their midst. Afterall McCain and the other candidates want to close GITMO anyway. Now we have found a place to store them with their friends. hahahahhahaa

Just have to make sure the Republicans are given notice to get the heck out of dodge first.

I would like to see Bush and Cheney walk cheerfully down the sidewalks downtown. Just call their bluff

Cheney has the balls to look them square in the eye, raise his eyebrow and say you want what???

heh heh

Democrats Move to Shut Down GOP Earmark Reform Site as Murtha Is Named "Porker of the Year"

John Boehner's site

House Democrats took steps to shut down a Republican-launched earmark reform website (http://earmarkreform.house.gov) yesterday, just as Senior Democratic House Member John Murtha (D-PA) won the title of 2007’s “Porker of the Year.”

Last August, the office of the U.S. House of Representatives' Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Daniel Beard, approved House Republican Leader John Boehner’s (R-OH) request to create the site, and since its launch earlier this month, it has been visited by thousands of online visitors and garnered subsequent media attention. Beard’s office has now ordered the site be removed, however, prompting Leader Boehner to protest the decision in a letter sent to the CAO yesterday afternoon:

“I am writing today to register my protest over this belated change, and to request a detailed explanation of the events that led your office to make this dramatic reversal,” wrote Boehner. “Changing its address now will inevitably hamper the effectiveness of the new website, much to the convenience of the majority that runs the House.”

Coincidentally, the move comes just as Rep. Murtha, a close ally of Speaker Pelosi, won the title of 2007’s “Porker of the Year.” Murtha, a well-known champion of wasteful earmarks, won the award from the non-partisan government spending watchdog group, Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW). According to a press release from CAGW:

“Rep. Jack Murtha has long been known inside the Beltway for using threats, power plays, and backroom deals to control spending decisions. There is an area of the House floor known as ‘Murtha’s Corner,’ where the legendary appropriator dispenses earmarks. The overwhelming vote for Porker of the Year vote shows that his shameful behavior is attracting attention throughout the country. The congressman inserts pork whenever he can to serve himself and his district. In fiscal year 2008, he brought home 72 pork projects worth $149.2 million.”

And “Porker of the Year” isn’t the only “honor” that Murtha has received. Last year a CNBC report referred to him as Washington’s “most powerful porker” and just last month he was labeled by the New York Times as the “The Pork King” in an editorial that detailed Murtha’s questionable earmarking practices.

And continuing his practice of thumbing his nose at American taxpayers, next week Murtha will host an “annual payback dinner by defense contractors who benefit from earmarks,” according to columnist Robert Novak. In other words, his addiction to pork isn’t slowing down.

Leader Boehner launched http://earmarkreform.house.gov to aid the efforts by House GOP members to reform the earmark system so Rep. Murtha and others like him are held more accountable for their behavior. The website is part of a larger Republican effort that includes a proposed earmark moratorium and the appointment of a bipartisan committee to identify ways in which to end wasteful Washington spending.

Democrats have flat-out rejected calls to join the effort and even voted against a GOP proposed earmark freeze. Perhaps that’s because, according to a February 14, 2008 article in The Hill, “Democratic leaders have sent tens of millions of dollars to freshman lawmakers’ districts in hope of protecting the party’s newfound majority come November.” In other words, they have no interest in changing the way Washington spends taxpayer dollars.

Wild Thing's comment.........

Way to go John Boehner! You are scum Murtha. We need to retake the House!

Helicopter carrying John Kerry, Chuck Hagel, Joe Biden makes emergency landing in Afghanistan

Flight Makes Emergency Landing In Afghanistan
Spokesman Says No One Injured

KETV

WASHINGTON -- A helicopter carrying three senior U.S. senators made an emergency landing in Afghanistan on Thursday morning.

Sens. John Kerry, Joseph Biden and Chuck Hagel were aboard the aircraft., according to Jon Summers, a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. The lawmakers are on a trip this week that includes stops in India, Turkey and Pakistan.

"The helicopters transporting the Senate delegation in Afghanistan made an unscheduled landing this morning due to a snowstorm," Hagel spokesman Jordan Stark told KETV NewsWatch 7. "There were no injuries and all members of the traveling party were safely transported to their destination at Bagram Air Base."
"The helicopters carrying (the senators) and their aides this morning made an unscheduled landing in the mountains in Afghanistan due to ominous weather," Kerry spokesman David Wadesaid. "After several hours, the senators were evacuated by American troops and returned overland to Bagram Air base, and left for their next scheduled stop in Ankara, Turkey."

Earlier this week, Hagel and the others were in Pakistan to observe parliamentary elections. There had been concern about the group entering the volatile region, and that militants could launch attacks during Monday's vote.

UPDATE:
Senators in Emergency Landing

No one was injured, according a statement from Kerry's office. The senators and their delegation returned to Bagram Air Base in a motor convoy, and have left for Turkey.

"After several hours, the senators were evacuated by American troops and returned overland to Bagram Air Base, and left for their next scheduled stop in Ankara, Turkey," the Kerry statement said. "Sen. Kerry thanks the American troops, who were terrific as always and who continue to do an incredible job in Afghanistan."

The lawmakers were on a trip this week that included stops in India, Turkey and Pakistan, where they observed the elections earlier this week.

Wild Thing's comment.......

Please use best Thurston Howell III voice: heh heh

“ Then bullets raked the fusilage. I used my body to protect everyone in the aircraft. I manned the twin 50s and returned fire. I then climbed out of the door and up to fix the rotors while they were still moving. Just like I used to do in Vietnam. Hey Biden, have I mentiomed I was in Vietnam for 3 months?”

Kennedy tried to come in to rescue them......but alas could not make it that far.

Barack Hussein Obama's Global Tax Proposal Up for Senate Vote $90B a Year for Foreign Aid!

Obama’s Global Tax Proposal Up for Senate Vote (Obama wants $90b a year for foreign aid)

A nice-sounding bill called the "Global Poverty Act," sponsored by Democratic presidential candidate and Senator Barack Obama, is up for a Senate vote on Thursday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States.

The bill, which has the support of many liberal religious groups, makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations. Senator Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has not endorsed either Senator Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in the presidential race.

But on Thursday, February 14, he is trying to rush Obama's "Global Poverty Act" (S.2433) through his committee. The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends.

The bill, which is item number four on the committee's business meeting agenda, passed the House by a voice vote last year because most members didn't realize what was in it. Congressional sponsors have been careful not to calculate the amount of foreign aid spending that it would require.

According to the website of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, no hearings have been held on the Obama bill in that body. A release from the Obama Senate office about the bill declares, "In 2000, the U.S. joined more than 180 countries at the United Nations Millennium Summit and vowed to reduce global poverty by 2015.

Wild Thing's comment........

If they are wanting to put us under control of the UN so bad that they refuse to put their names on the voting record, we are royally screwed.

Global welfare checks to countries that poke us in the eye with a stick. What the heck is wrong with these people?

The part that bites my butt is this “rushed through by voice vote” and the “passed by voice vote”. That took Republican cooperation! Anyone of those sorry bastards could have said they wanted a recorded vote and it would have to be done. The Democrats wouldn’t have any options once one person, Democrat or Republican asks for the recorded vote.

This isn’t a measly build a bridge to nowhere Bill. This sob puts a permanent tax on your wages, and mine for eternity. This Bill gives the politicians UN permission to try to take away our 2nd Amendment.

B. Hussein Obama Proposes $210 Billion for New Jobs

Obama Proposes $210 Billion for New Jobs

JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP)

Democrat Barack Obama said Wednesday that as president he would spend $210 billion to create jobs in construction and environmental industries, as he tried to win over economically struggling voters.

Obama's investment would be over 10 years as part of two programs. The larger is $150 billion to create 5 million so-called "green collar" jobs to develop more environmentally friendly energy sources.

Sixty billion would go to a National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank to rebuild highways, bridges, airports and other public projects. Obama estimated that could generate nearly 2 million jobs, many of them in the construction industry that's been hit by the housing crisis.

"This agenda is paid for," Obama said as the Republican National Committee promoted an "Obama Spend-O-Meter" online to track his proposals and portray him as a tax-and-spend liberal. Obama explained that the money for his spending proposals will come from ending the Iraq war, cutting tax breaks for corporations, taxing carbon pollution and raising taxes on high income earners.

Obama, who has faced criticism that he doesn't have enough policy specifics, asked autoworkers at the General Motors plant in Janesville, Wis., to "bear with me" as his began a policy speech that he said would be unlike his typical rousing addresses to rallies. He read from a TelePrompTer in a cavernous training room, flanked by sparkling new vehicles and a large American flag.

"Today I want to take it down a notch," Obama said. "This is going to be a speech that's a little more detailed. It's going to be a little bit longer, not as many applause lines."

Obama pointedly did not include one of his biggest applause lines, that he would require vehicle manufacturers to raise fuel economy standards. Obama often points out that he delivered that message straight to the automakers during a speech last year in Detroit.

But he didn't mention it on the plant visit that came a day after GM reported the largest annual loss ever for an American automaker — $38.7 billion in 2007.

"I know that General Motors received some bad news yesterday," Obama said. "I also know how much progress you've made, how many hybrids and fuel-efficient vehicles you're churning out. And I believe that if our government is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need to retool and make this transition, that this plant will be here for another hundred years."

Obama explained that the money for his spending proposals will come from ending the Iraq war, cutting tax breaks for corporations, taxing carbon pollution and raising taxes on high income earners.

Wild Thing's comment ........

This man is the Anti-Christ, I swear. He is, at the very least, a milk chocolate Jimmy Carter, and worse if that is possible.

What a bunch of BS. This will totally trash the economy.

Ouch, that's going to leave a mark! Hillary Crys From Her Left Eye!

Obama sweeps 3 states, Huckabee takes 2

AP

Sen. Barack Obama swept the Louisiana primary and caucuses in Nebraska and Washington state Saturday night, slicing into Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's slender delegate lead in their historic race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The Illinois senator also won caucuses in the Virgin Islands, completing his best night of the campaign.

"Today, voters from the West Coast to the Gulf Coast to the heart of America stood up to say 'yes we can'" Obama told a cheering audience of Democrats at a party dinner in Richmond, Va.
He jabbed simultaneously at Clinton and Arizona Sen. John McCain, saying the election was a choice between debating the Republican nominee-in-waiting "about who has the most experience in Washington, or debating him about who's most likely to change Washington. Because that's a debate we can win."
Clinton preceded Obama to the podium. She did not refer to the night's voting, instead turning against McCain. "We have tried it President Bush's way," she said, "and now the Republicans have chosen more of the same."

She left quickly after her speech, departing before Obama's arrival. But his supporters made their presence known, sending up chants of "Obama" from the audience as she made her way offstage.

Obama's winning margins ranged from substantial to crushing.

He won roughly two-thirds of the vote in Washington state and Nebraska, and almost 90 percent in the Virgin Islands.

Nearly complete Louisiana returns showed Obama with 57 percent of the vote, to 36 percent for the former first lady. As in his earlier Southern triumphs in Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina, Obama, a black man, rode a wave of African-American support to victory in Louisiana. Clinton won the white vote overwhelmingly.

Wild Thing's comment........

The other night when they were counting the votes on Super Tuesday, they asked a group of people to name one thing that Obama has done in the past two years as Sen. that they liked. NO hands went up, no one could think of even one thing. The room went completely silent.

The man asking the question said to Hannity..... this is amazing they can't come up with even one thing.

Of course not Obama is imo hand sealed and delivered by Soros to the USA. His hand picked candidate from back when he ran for the Senate. Again this is my opinion but how on earth could a man that has done nothing as a Senator, even his voting was mostly "present" instead of yea or nay on things. Just too weird! And none of the media even mention this. They prefer to just say how great he is, and the huge crowds that gather to hear him speak.

Corzine and Menendez Tout Each Other As Hillary VP

............

First it is important to note something that Corzine has been up to lately..........................

Corzine to Propose Huge Financial Move for N.J.

TRENTON

Gov. Jon S. Corzine on Tuesday proposed the biggest financial gambit in New Jersey’s history, arguing that almost quadrupling highway tolls over the next 15 years could help generate about $38 billion to help the state pay off half of its debt and pay for transportation improvements.

He said that his plan to turn over operation of the toll roads to a Public Benefit Corporation, tied with a freeze in state spending and toll increases of 50 percent every four years from 2010 to 2022, is the best of all possible options to reduce the state's $32 billion debt.

Drivers would face a maximum 50 percent increase in tolls on the state’s three toll roads — the New Jersey Turnpike, the Garden State Parkway and the Atlantic City Expressway — every four years, beginning in 2010, and subject to inflation, under Mr. Corzine’s proposal. A portion of a fourth highway — Route 440, which runs from Woodbridge to the Outerbridge Crossing — would become a toll road, as well.

The proposal to use the state’s toll roads to raise money is part of a four-point plan Mr. Corzine outlined to dig New Jersey out of its financial morass. He also said he wanted to freeze spending in the budget that is now being drafted, to limit future increases in spending to increases in recurring revenue and to amend the state constitution to require that voter approval be obtained before the state borrows money.

"It’s not something I want to do," Mr. Corzine said of the financial plan. "This proposal is a solution, a solution to restore the state’s financial integrity, health and capacity."

In responding to the myriad of calls to cut, not freeze, state spending, Corzine referenced the costumed member of the Flying Pigs Club - dressed, as one would guess, like a pig with wings - who was there to protest Corzine's assertion in his State of the State address that "pigs will fly" over Trenton before any new taxes or spending cuts would realistically be approved.

And then there is this...................

Menendez and Corzine tout each other as VP candidates

It was a Jon Corzine/Bob Menendez love fest today as each exclaimed the others’ qualifications to be second in command under a President Hillary Clinton.

Although Corzine has all but ruled out any possibility of working in Washington next year if Clinton wins the presidential election, Menendez thinks he’d be a splendid choice for Vice President.

How about clearing a few things up first Mr. Menendez? You are always implying that you and your family came to America to escape Castro's regime.

If you did, than you were not born a U.S. citizen. Your birthday is January 1, 1954. Castro assumed power in Cuba 1959.

Then there is this................

Mayor aided murderer
Menendez glad to help an 'innocent man'

Hudson Dispatch
Wednesday, October 7, 1987

By Douglas Lavin

UNION CITY

Mayor Robert Menendez has contributed funds for a convicted Cuban-American terrorist and murderer wo was the kingpin of Omega 7.

Menendez, the city's first Cuban-American mayor, said he supports the use of violence and breaking the rule of law in the fight for a free Cuba, but also said his contribution made at a Friday fund-raiser was intended only to supply Eduardo Arocena with legal counsel.

"I endorse the fact that there are times when what one looks at as a law at a given time has to be broken," Menendez said, adding that the fight should be carried out "wherever the enemy may be."

Bernard F. Kenny, Menendez's Democratic running mate in the Assembly race to represent North Hudson's 33rd District, also was at the dinner, but said yesterday he did not know the event was a fundraiser or was linked to terrorists.

Kenny said public officials have an obligation to uphold the law.

"I think any public official has to take a strong stance on that," he said.

Jose O. Arango, the Cuban-born Republican assemblyman who is opposing Menendez and Kenny, said he would contribute to Arocena's legal defense if asked. Arango said he did not endorse illegal activity in the United State, but said he would contribute money to help ensure "an innocent man is not convicted."

Menendez took a similar stance and said Arocena needed a new trial because he did not have proper legal counsel during his trial.

Micahel L. Tabak, the asssitant U.S. attorney who was in charge of the prosecution, siad Arocena rejected a free, court appointed attorney from own of Manhattan's best law firms and instead chose two of his own attorneys, who represented him during the trial.

"The record is clear that Arocena was represented by counsel," Tabak said.

Arocena, a former New Jersey longshoreman, was convicted in 1984 of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy bombings and perjury.

In December 1985, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan denied an appeal, calling the government's case, which included 85 witnesses and "copius" physical evidence, "overwhelming and impressive."

The court also called Arocena the "kingpin" of Omega 7 and said the group financed its crimes of bombings and murder through drug trade and extortion.

Since 1973, Omega 7 has claimed responsibility for more that 30 terror bombings in New York, New Jersey and Miami.

.

Wild Thing's comment..........

I have a cousin and his wife that live in N.J. and he works in New York City. So this toll thing will effect him too.

As always, the Democratic solution to anything...raise taxes. like those NYC commuters driving from Toms River on the NJ Parkway can be paying upwards of $6.65 +$8 + $8 per day just to get into the city. The NJ Transit trains are already over capacity during rush hour now, this will only make it worse. No doubt a NJ Transit fare increase will follow soon enough.

Like Rush Limbaugh has always said: "To liberals, socialism never failed....it just was not tried by the right people."

And interesting how these two Corzine and Menendez would like to be Hillary's VP.

....Thank you Les for this article about the tolls.

Why Does Obama's Pastor Matter?

Why Does Obama's Pastor Matter?

Frontpage ...for complete article

Barack Obama, in a way that recalls John F. Kennedy, a politician to whom he's frequently compared, has carefully controlled and burnished his image to create the impression of an independent figure, free from dogma and ideological entanglements. But there is one man who threatens to undermine Obama's appealing narrative as a man above the ugly quarrels and divisive partisanship of the past: his longtime pastor and spiritual adviser, Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

So great is Obama's respect for Wright, that the former sought the Reverend's counsel before formally declaring his candidacy for U.S. President.

In Wright's calculus, white America's bigotry is to blame not only for whatever ills continue to plague the black community, but also for our country's conflicts with other nations.

"In the 21st century," says Wright, "white America got a wake-up call after 9/11/01. White America and the western world came to realize that people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just 'disappeared' as the Great White West kept on its merry way of ignoring black concerns."

Remarkably, no mention of jihad—the ageless Muslim tradition of aggressive, permanent warfare whose ultimate aim is to achieve Islam's dominion over the human race at large—managed to find its way into Wright's analysis. Rather, he assured us that the 9/11 atrocities were ultimately traceable to the doorstep of U.S. provocations. In fact, Wright apparently sees no reason to suspect that Islam may be incompatible in any way with Western traditions.

"Islam and Christianity are a whole lot closer than you may realize," he has written. "Islam comes out of Christianity."

Apart from America's purported racism, Wright also despises the nation's capitalist economic structure, viewing it as a breeding ground for all manner of injustice.

"Capitalism as made manifest in the 'New World,'" says Wright, "depended upon slave labor (by African slaves), and it is only maintained by keeping the 'Two-Thirds World' under oppression."

This view is entirely consistent with Rev. Wright's devotion to the tenets of liberation theology, which is essentially Marxism dressed up as Christianity. Devised by Cold War-era theologians, it teaches that the gospels of Jesus can be understood only as calls for social activism, class struggle, and revolution aimed at overturning the existing capitalist order and installing, in its stead, a socialist utopia where today's poor will unseat their "oppressors" and become liberated from their material (and, consequently, their spiritual) deprivations.

An extension of this paradigm is black liberation theology, which seeks to foment a similar Marxist revolutionary fervor founded on racial rather than class solidarity. Wright's mentor in this discipline is James Cone, author of the landmark text Black Power and Black Theology. Arguing that Christianity has been used by white society as an opiate of the (black) masses, Cone asserts that the destitute "are made and kept poor by the rich and powerful few," and that " no one can be a follower of Jesus Christ without a political commitment that expresses one's solidarity with victims."

Many of Wright's condemnations of America are echoed in his denunciations of Israel and Zionism, which he has blamed for imposing "injustice and … racism" on the Palestinians. According to Wright, Zionism contains an element of "white racism." Likening Israel's treatment of Palestinians to South Africa's treatment of blacks during the apartheid era, Wright advocates divestment campaigns targeting companies that conduct business in, or with, Israel.

Given Wright's obvious low regard for the U.S. and Israel, it is by no means surprising that he reserves some of his deepest respect for the virulently anti-American, anti-Semitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

"When Minister Farrakhan speaks, Black America listens," says Wright. "Everybody may not agree with him, but they listen

His depth on analysis when it comes to the racial ills of this nation is astounding and eye opening. He brings a perspective that is helpful and honest. Minister Farrakhan will be remembered as one of the 20th and 21st century giants of the African American religious experience. His integrity and honesty have secured him a place in history as one of the nation's most powerful critics. His love for Africa and African American people has made him an unforgettable force, a catalyst for change and a religious leader who is sincere about his faith and his purpose."

In addition, voters should examine carefully the question of whether Obama shares Wright's socialist economic preferences. They ought to be aware, for instance, that the Democratic candidate is on record as having said that his religious faith has led him to question "the idolatry of the free market." Moreover, Obama's voting record and his issue positions show him generally to favor high spending and increased government intervention in all realms of life.

When Rev. Wright's controversial statements and positions recently became more widely publicized, Obama said, "There are some things I agree with my pastor about, some things I disagree with him about." It is the duty of every American voter to determine exactly where those agreements and disagreements lie.

Wild Thing's comment........

When I was a kid, my Father told me you are who you associate with. I thought of that as I read this article. The article is long and I only put snippets in this post. We all have seen the vidoe posted on here of his Pastor speaking, other posts about his church and what it stands for and against. How rascists it is and the Pastor leading the way.

This article goes even more in depth about Obama's pastor and I agree, we need to know what about these things and what to expect if Obama wins. We know what Hillary is, we survived 8 long miserable years of she and Bill and their lies, corruptions, "gates", FBI files on others, deaths surrounding them most mysterious and convenient to say the least.

But Obama is new, very new on the scene and the rise to his success has been paid for by the most vile man Soros that lives to destory America. I want to know all I can about my enemy.

....Thank you Mark for this article.

MoveOn.org Endorses Barak Hussein Obama

Obama Wins Endorsement of MoveOn.org

NY Times

LOS ANGELES

As the Democratic presidential rivals dashed into a final weekend of campaigning before the nominating contests here and in 21 other states next Tuesday, Senator Barack Obama collected the endorsement on Friday of a leading antiwar group, MoveOn.org. He said his opposition to the war would make him a stronger general election candidate.

The endorsement by MoveOn .org is the first time the gro
