Criminals Thumb Their Noses At NYPD Over New “Don't Stop And Frisk Rules”

Thugs with guns think they’re the ones calling the shots on the streets in the wake of the anti-NYPD stop-and-frisk ruling.

“You can’t stop me! You can’t do that no more! There are new rules!” suspect Steven Sidbury, 21, allegedly yelled at officers as they approached him in crime-riddled East New York last week.

The cops walked over to Sidbury when they spotted a suspiciously heavy object in the pocket of his hoodie outside 225 Wortman Ave. in Brooklyn just before midnight Thursday.

He taunted them over stop-and-frisk, then ran and tripped — and a loaded .38-caliber revolver dropped out of his jacket, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

Sidbury was arrested — his third weapons bust in three years.

“This is just what you’re going to see more of — people are going to be more arrogant and brazen, and they’re not going to be afraid of the police,’’ said a source familiar with the case.

Cops in the troubled 40th Precinct in The Bronx also griped that criminals have been openly jeering them — even in front of their precinct — over this month’s Manhattan federal-court ruling against stop-and-frisk.

Officers responding to a call about three suspects with guns on 138th Street across from the station house around 7 p.m. Saturday saw a trio matching their description, sources said.

The suspects ran into a building, where one turned around at the stairwell and hissed at the cops, “You ain’t stop[ping] me! You ain’t gonna frisk me! No more stop-and-frisks! Whatcha gonna do?”

The cops frisked the men anyway — with one officer later saying he would fall back on the “I was in fear of my safety’’ defense if questioned, a source said.

No weapons were recovered. But cops believe it’s because the perps simply had time to hide them.

“They’re not stupid. They stash [guns] quick,’’ a source said.

Several hours earlier, cops in the 40th Precinct spotted a guy wearing a hooded sweat shirt on the 85-degree day at 141st Street and Cypress Avenue. The man appeared to be casing a would-be robbery victim, a source said.

When a cop approached, he shouted, “You can’t be stopping me, yo! The cops can’t be harassing us!’’

He was still frisked. No gun was recovered.

One source predicted that there will be more bloodshed in the streets as criminals fearlessly carry their weapons instead of stashing them somewhere — and fire in the heat of the moment.

“They’re going to carry their guns, and if they get into a fight, they’re going to shoot right away,’’ the source warned.

“Every single [perp] I have encountered is very happy about the ruling,’’ a Manhattan police source said.

“It is a very common thought now amongst perps that stop-question-and-frisk infringes on their rights to carry concealed guns.”

The White House is the Peoples House (Ours) BUT Now Court Rules WH Visitor Logs Not Public, Not Subject To Disclosure Requests

White House visitor logs are not subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), a federal judge ruled Friday, blocking the public from reviewing the records.

U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled in a unanimous decision in Judicial Watch v. U.S. Secret Service that visitor logs for the office of the president are not agency records and therefore not subject to FOIA requests.

Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group, originally sued the Secret Service in 2009 after the agency refused to turn over seven months of visitor logs from the White House.

Judge Merrick Garland Thursday that making the logs public record could “substantially affect the president’s ability to meet confidentially with foreign leaders, agency officials, or members of the public. And that could render FOIA a potentially serious congressional intrusion into the conduct of the president’s daily operations.”

Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said Friday’s ruling keeps the public in the dark and the government unaccountable.

“A president that doesn’t want Americans, under law, to know who his visitors are is a president who doesn’t want to be accountable,” Fitton said in a statement. “The appellate court decision punches another hole in the Freedom of Information Act, the law which allows Americans to know what their government is up to. We are strongly considering an appeal. The legal gymnastics in this unprecedented decision shows that President Obama is not only the one willing to rewrite laws without going through Congress.”

The Obama administration, which the president declared would be the “most transparent administration in history,” often points to its release of the White House visitor logs as a capstone of its transparency efforts.

However, the administration’s policy is not codified into law. The White House does not have to release complete visitor logs, nor would future administrations be compelled to continue the practice.

Other watchdog groups, such as Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, also decried the decision.

“White House visitor records have proven of enormous value to the public in exposing the outside influences brought to bear on presidential decisions and policies,” CREW executive director Melanie Sloan said in a statement. “With this ruling, that window on the White House is now shut. Although President Obama has chosen to make the visitor logs public, future presidents can freely leave the public in the dark.”

Putin Orders Massive Strike Against Saudi Arabia If West Attacks Syria

A grim “urgent action memorandum” issued today from the office of President Putin to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is ordering a “massive military strike” against Saudi Arabia in the event that the West attacks Syria.

According to Kremlin sources familiar with this extraordinary “war order,” Putin became “enraged” after his early August meeting with Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan who warned that if Russia did not accept the defeat of Syria, Saudi Arabia would unleash Chechen terrorists under their control to cause mass death and chaos during the Winter Olympics scheduled to be held 7-23 February 2014 in Sochi, Russia.

Lebanese newspaper As-Safir confirmed this amazing threat against Russia saying that Prince Bandar pledged to safeguard Russia’s naval base in Syria if the Assad regime is toppled, but he also hinted at Chechen terrorist attacks on Russia’s Winter Olympics in Sochi if there is no accord by stating: “I can give you a guarantee to protect the Winter Olympics next year. The Chechen groups that threaten the security of the games are controlled by us.”

Prince Bandar went on to say that Chechens operating in Syria were a pressure tool that could be switched on an off. “These groups do not scare us. We use them in the face of the Syrian regime but they will have no role in Syria’s political future.”

London’s The Telegraph News Service further reported today that Saudi Arabia has secretly offered Russia a sweeping deal to control the global oil market and safeguard Russia’s gas contracts, if the Kremlin backs away from the Assad regime in Syria, an offer Putin replied to by saying “Our stance on Assad will never change. We believe that the Syrian regime is the best speaker on behalf of the Syrian people, and not those liver eaters” [Putin said referring to footage showing a Jihadist rebel eating the heart and liver of a Syrian soldier, and which Prince Bandar in turn warned that there can be “no escape from the military option” if Russia declines the olive branch.

White House Officials: Obama Willing To Attack Syria Solo

Obama is willing to move ahead with a limited military strike on Syria even while allies like Britain are debating whether to join the effort and without an endorsement from the United Nations Security Council, senior administration officials said Thursday.

Although the officials cautioned that Mr. Obama had not made a final decision, all indications suggest that the strike could occur as soon as United Nations inspectors, who are investigating the Aug. 21 attack that killed hundreds of Syrians, leave the country. They are scheduled to depart Damascus, the capital, on Saturday.

The White House is to present its case for military action against Syria to Congressional leaders on Thursday night. Administration officials assert that the intelligence will show that forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad carried out the chemical weapons attack in the suburbs of Damascus.

The intelligence does not tie Mr. Assad directly to the attack, officials briefed on the presentation said, but the administration believes that it has enough evidence to carry out a limited strike that would deter the Syrian government from using these weapons again.

Egyptian Christian Leader Furious Over Obama’s Support For Muslim Brotherhood: “Shame On Him”

An Egyptian Christian leader is calling out President Barack Obama and his administration for not doing enough in face of intense persecution against the Church by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Following the recent barrage of church burnings, Father Rafic Greiche, the chief spokesman for the Catholic Church in Egypt, criticized President Obama for not speaking out against the worst violence against Egyptian Christians in nearly 700 years.

“President Obama when he made a speech he just touched on the burning churches instead of telling the Muslim Brotherhood that they are terrorists and they are making terror on Egypt,” Greiche said. “He did not speak loud for this and shame on him if he is a Christian that he does not speak out loud.”

“The spokesman of the White House who…was asked ‘What is the red line for the Christians in Egypt?’ he mocked and said, ‘I didn’t bring my red pen,” he noted.

“So I think it was a mockery and not at its place and really shame on him also,” he said.

Radical Islamists, many members of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, attacked at least 60 churches, Christian businesses, and institutions in the days following the crackdown against supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi.

“Obama does not appear to understand the situation,” Greiche told AsiaNews. “In his speech he didn’t even so much as mention all the churches and Christian buildings being burnt down by the Muslim Brotherhood.”

“This must absolutely be made clear: the Muslim Brothers are terrorists and are tied to groups belonging to al Qaeda and to the Salafites,” he said. “The history of the Muslim Brotherhood, even since their foundation, has been a history of 85 years of bloodshed.”

Fast Food Workers Walk Out, Demand Excessive Wages

New York fast-food employees joined thousands of colleagues from across the country in a Thursday strike aimed at boosting their salaries to $15 an hour — more than double the current minimum rate.

“I’m not going to stay quiet,” said Shaniqua Davis, 20, a Bronx resident and McDonald’s worker. “I’m going to continue to fight. … I’ve got a daughter to take care of. I struggle to make ends meet.”

Paying the bills is tough for employees who typically earn the minimum wage of $7.25 an hour.The nationwide walkout, set for 50 cities, is targeting chains like McDonald’s, Taco Bell and Wendy’s.

For the record, a $15 an hour wage is more than local EMT workers, substitute teachers and correct.

That’s according to a 217 page manual, the Health Insurance Marketplace Navigator Standard Operating Procedures Manual, released by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services on Monday. Will their pitch sound something like this?

We’re going to strangle you with regulations, smother you in bureaucracy, make it next to impossible for you to find full-time work, and intrude in the some of the most intimate decisions you’ll make in your life… But we’re smiling, so you should be happy about all of this!

The administration states:

But that doesn’t mean Obama will be unmindful of his linkage to King when he stands before the statue of the Great Emancipator to give an address that will be heard around the world. This was clearly on the president’s mind last night. After he made some formal remarks during a White House reception for a broad cross section of civil rights leaders, entertainers, politicians and social activists, I heard Obama quip to someone standing nearby: “Man, can you believe they have me speaking tomorrow, 50 years to the day of the greatest speech ever given. That’s like following Jesus.”

MLK Anniversary March Draws Only One-Fifth of Expected Crowd

While over 100,000 people were expected to show up at today’s ceremonies marking the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, late estimates put the crowd numbers at 20,000. Mike Levine of ABC News reported at 2:10 p.m. ET that unofficial crowd estimates from law enforcement sources put the number at “over 20,000.”

Awesome Love Story Marine Jesse Cottle and his wife Kelly

Marine Jesse Cottle lost his leg in battle but found true love from his wife, Kelly.

“If I hadn’t stepped on that IED I wouldn’t have met her,” Jesse told ABC News. “I wouldn’t take it back ever.”

After spending months recovering in the hospital, Jesse met his future wife Kelly, 24, in San Diego at a swim meet during one of his first outings with his new prosthetic legs. “His personality and who he is just outweighs his injuries by so much that you forget about it after a while,” Kelly explained.

Recently, the couple took a trip to visit Kelly’s family in Boise, Idaho, where they decided to have a family portrait taken. “Someone had suggested taking photos in the water,” said Kelly. “I was carrying Jesse back to his legs, and the photographer was like, ‘Oh we’ll get a couple of shots of you together.’ It wasn’t planned or anything.”

The photographer, Sarah Ledford, posted the picture to her Facebook page, where it immediately started gaining attention, racking up more than 7,000 likes, more than 500 shares and getting countless comments, all in awe of the couple’s strengths and resilience in the face of adversity.

“It’s an amazingly inspiring story that has touched the lives of many Americans,” Ledford said. “Jesse is not a hero for stepping on an IED, he’s a hero because of the way he has handled what was handed to him and how he chooses to continue to conduct his life with his positive attitude.”

“The photo really says it all,” Jesse added. “I actually look at it very much as a symbol for our whole relationship in general. She’s physically carrying me, but there’s times where she’s carrying me emotionally. It’s a perfect representation of who Kelly is.”

The happy couple just celebrated their first wedding anniversary on Aug. 18 by eating the top layer of their red velvet wedding cake.

Obama Uses Our Tax Dollars for Funding $313 Million In Mortgages For Palestinians On West Bank

The U.S. government will not only fund $313 million in home mortgages for Palestinians living on the West Bank, but will also guarantee $110 million in loans to small and medium sized West Bank businesses. Isn’t there enough economic damage and corruption with welfare entitlement programs in the U.S.? Should we really be expanding to the Islamic territories?

The U.S. government will fund $313 million in home mortgages for Palestinians living on the West Bank, according to a Government Accountability Office report released Monday.

The U.S. will also guarantee $110 million in loans to small- and medium-sized businesses located on the West Bank.

The mortgage and business-loan activities will be conducted by the federal Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). “OPIC is the U.S. Government’s development finance institution,” says OPIC’s website. “OPIC provides financial products, such as loans and guaranties; political risk insurance; and support for investment funds, all of which help American businesses expand into emerging markets.”

The GAO report released Tuesday described some of the actions OPIC is taking in the emerging market of the Palestinian territories.

“U.S. agencies and implementing partners participate in various programs with the Palestine Investment Fund (PIF) or PIF-owned entities that include home mortgage financing, loan guarantees, and educational initiatives,” says the report. “First, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) along with PIF and other entities have committed to lend $485 million to the Affordable Mortgage and Loan Company (AMAL) to support mortgages for low- and medium-income borrowers in the West Bank.

“OPIC has committed to lend about $313 million; PIF has committed about $72 million, and two banks account for the balance of the committed lending,” says the GAO. “However, as of April 2013, OPIC and PIF had not yet disbursed any funds. Second, OPIC and PIF are co-guarantors in a Loan Guarantee Facility (LGF) program in the West Bank, guaranteeing up to $110 million and $50 million in loans, respectively, to nine regional banks to support lending to small- and medium-sized enterprises.”

The PIF is an entity that was created by the Palestinian Authority president.

“PIF is governed by a board of directors and a general assembly appointed by the Palestinian Authority President, and manages investments throughout a number of sectors, including real estate and hospitality, infrastructure, finance, capital markets, small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and manufacturing,” says the GAO.

The GAO reported that OPIC says it has checked the foreign bankers and executives it is dealing with in its West Bank loan program for terrorists connections. OPIC says it has also checked borrowers.

“OPIC officials stated that OPIC has vetted PIF’s board of directors and senior executives, the non-U.S. board members and shareholders of AMAL, and key officials of the banks against information sources such as the FBI Terrorist Screening Center database, OFAC list, and OPIC’s Information Center databases,” says the GAO report. “For the LGF program, OPIC said that, based on OPIC’s procedures and the LGF agreements, it has vetted all the participating banks and has vetted key officials of each borrower and guarantor before loans are approved using information sources such as Treasury’s Office of Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes and FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center databases.”

Pentagon Labels Founding Fathers, Conservatives as Extremists

George Washington would not be welcome in the modern U.S. military. Neither would Thomas Jefferson or Benjamin Franklin, according to Department of Defense training documents that depict the Founding Fathers as extremists and conservative organizations as “hate groups.”

The Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute training guide was obtained by Judicial Watch under a Freedom of Information Act Request. It was acquired from the Air Force but originated from the Pentagon.

“This document deserves a careful examination by military leadership,” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton told Fox News. “Congress needs to conduct better oversight and figure out what the heck is going on in our military.”

Included in the 133-pages of lesson plans is a student guide entitled “Extremism.”

The DOD warns students to be aware “that many extremists will talk of individual liberties, states’ rights and how to make the world a better place.”

Under a section titled “Extremist Ideologies,” the document states, “In U.S. history, there are many examples of extremist ideologies and movements. The colonists who sought to free themselves from British rule and the Confederate states who sought to secede from the Northern states are just two examples.”

“It’s disturbing insight into what’s happening inside Obama’s Pentagon,” Fitton told Fox News. “The Obama administration has a nasty habit of equating basic conservative values with terrorism.”

The Pentagon did not return telephone calls seeking comment on the training materials.

The training guide warned that participation in groups that are regarded as extremist organizations is “incompatible with military service and is, therefore prohibited.”

“It’s craziness,” Fitton said. “It’s political correctness run amok.”

The training documents also focus on those who cherish individual liberty.

“Nowadays, instead of dressing in sheets or publically espousing hate messages, many extremists will talk of individual liberties, states’ rights and how to make the world a better place.”

The document relied heavily on information obtained from the Southern Poverty Law Center, a leftwing organization that has a history of labeling conservative Christian organizations like the Family Research Council as “hate groups.”

Fitton said the reliance on SPLC material is troubling.

In 2012, an FRC guard was shot during an attack on their headquarters building. The gunman admitted he was influenced by the SPLC’s branding of the Christian group has a hate group.

It’s not the first time the military has been caught using training materials that depict conservatives and Christians as extremists.

In April Fox News obtained an email sent by a lieutenant colonel at Fort Campbell to three dozen subordinates warning them to be on the lookout for any soldiers who might be members of “domestic hate groups” like the FRC and the American Family Association.

“When we see behaviors that are inconsistent with Army Values – don’t just walk by – do the right thing and address the concern before it becomes a problem,” the email advised.

At the time the Army denied there was any attack on Christians or those who hold religious beliefs.

“The notion that the Army is taking an anti-religion or anti-Christian stance is contrary to any of our policies, doctrines and regulations,” an Army spokesman told Fox News at the time.

However, in a separate incident, an Army training instructor listed Evangelical Christianity and Catholicism as examples of religious extremism – along with Al Qaeda and Hamas.

The same Army spokesman said the training session was an “isolated incident not condoned by the Department of the Army.”

Fitton told Fox News the military seems to be having a lot of isolated incidents and it appears the Pentagon is sending a message to Christians.

“They are putting out the not-welcome sign to conservative Christians,” Fitton said. “They are trying to make the military an unwelcome place for conservative Christians.”

New Bill In Congress Seeks To Tax Gun Sales Extra 20% And Ammo Sales Extra 50%

There is a new anti-gun bill sitting on Capitol Hill, and it doesn’t deal with banning particular models of firearms or even universal background checks.

The Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act of 2013, was proposed by U.S. Reps. Danny K. Davis, D-Ill., and Bill Pascrell, D-N.J. The bill seeks to raise the tax rate on gun sales from 10% to 20%.

Perhaps even more disturbing is that the bill also seeks to raise the tax rate on ammunition purchases to 50%.

Davis released the following statement in a press release,

Gun violence is a daily reality for America and, in particular, for urban cities like Chicago. The crisis should outrage us all. This legislation is a pro-active approach to reducing gun violence by using proven preventive programs which have been starved for funds until now. As part of a comprehensive, multidimensional strategy to reduce gun violence, this legislation closes major loopholes in tax law and lays out an equitable, long term, sustainable strategy to provide the requisite resources.

Note how Davis fails to correlate the high crime in Chicago with the extreme gun-control laws that prevent law-abiding citizens from protecting their own life and property.

The democrats never state the high crime areas of the left like Chicago etc. where it is the bad guys going after innocent people or gang related killings.

ObamaCare has become big business for an elite network of Washington lobbyists and consultants who helped shape the law from the inside.

More than 30 former administration officials, lawmakers and congressional staffers who worked on the healthcare law have set up shop on K Street since 2010.

Major lobbying firms such as Fierce, Isakowitz & Blalock, The Glover Park Group, Alston & Bird, BGR Group and Akin Gump can all boast an ObamaCare insider on their lobbying roster — putting them in a prime position to land coveted clients.

“When [Vice President] Biden leaned over [during healthcare signing] and said to [President] Obama, ‘This is a big f’n deal,’” said Ivan Adler, a headhunter at the McCormick Group, “he was right. ”

Veterans of the healthcare push are now lobbying for corporate giants such as Delta Air Lines, UPS, BP America and Coca-Cola, and for healthcare companies including GlaxoSmithKline, UnitedHealth Group and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.

Ultimately, the clients are after one thing: expert help in dealing with the most sweeping overhaul of the country’s healthcare system in decades.

"Healthcare lobbying on K Street is as strong as it ever was, and it's due to the fact that the Affordable Care Act seems to be ever-changing," Adler said. "What's at stake is huge. ... Whenever there's a lot of money at stake, there's a lot of lobbying going on."

The voracious need for lobbying help in dealing with ObamaCare has created a price premium for lobbyists who had first-hand experience in crafting or debating the law.

Experts say that those able to fetch the highest salaries have come from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) or committees with oversight power over healthcare.

CNN Bombshell: CIA Personnel in Benghazi Silenced with Threats to Their Families by Obama Regime

CNN has released yet another bombshell in the ongoing Benghazi scandal, and it is sure to shock those who haven’t been paying attention. Prepare for a window into the “transparent” Obama administration.

According to CNN’s Jake Tapper, the Obama administration is threatening CIA operatives who were on the ground during the deadly terrorist attack in Benghazi to keep them silent:

CNN has learned the CIA is involved in what one source calls an unprecedented attempt to keep the spy agency’s Benghazi secrets from ever leaking out.

Since January, some CIA operatives involved in the agency’s missions in Libya, have been subjected to frequent, even monthly polygraph examinations, according to a source with deep inside knowledge of the agency’s workings.

The goal of the questioning, according to sources, is to find out if anyone is talking to the media or Congress.

It is being described as pure intimidation, with the threat that any unauthorized CIA employee who leaks information could face the end of his or her career.

In exclusive communications obtained by CNN, one insider writes, “You don’t jeopardize yourself, you jeopardize your family as well.”

This should quell all naysaying that Benghazi is a “phony scandal” and “there is no cover-up.” Possible links to the Benghazi story that the Obama administration might want to cover-up are the arms shipments to al Qaeda-affiliated terrorists in the February 17th Martyr’s Brigade and potential weapons smuggling to al Qaeda-connected rebels in Syria through the Turkish consul.

The CIA operatives’ story is similar to that given by the number two diplomat in Benghazi, Libya — Gregory Hicks. Under oath, Hicks testified that he was told by the State Department not to discuss Benghazi with House Republicans and then was demoted when he did.

It came out earlier this week that diplomatic security specialist David Ubben attempted to rescue Sean Smith before he was killed and then came to the aid of SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty while they were under siege. Mortar fire eventually killed Woods and Doherty, and Ubben was injured and left for 20 hours on a Benghazi rooftop.

In mid-July, Rep. Frank Wolf announced that Benghazi survivors were being silenced by the Obama administration, and are suspected of asking or forcing them to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements. Recently, a group of 1,000 special operations veterans unrolled a 60-foot petition to get to the bottom of what happened in Benghazi and why the Obama administration is covering it up.

“Obviously, when it come to federal grants, loans, support, subsidies, that we provide, those are for our citizens,” Obama told a student questioner from the friendly audience of college professors, administrators and students at the Binghamton University in New York.

NYPD cops say they won't go above and beyond the call of duty over 'stop-frisk' lawsuit risks

NYPD beat cops posted a police-union warning in every precinct yesterday instructing officers not to go above and beyond the call of duty — or risk losing their jobs because of the new stop-and-frisk laws, The Post has learned.

“All officers should take action if he or she sees a crime in progress, or if he or she sees that his or her life or the life of another person is in danger . . . [But] all officers should be careful not to initiate any law-enforcement action that could be construed as violating the new legislation and subject the officer to legal action,” read the memo by Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association president Patrick Lynch.

Several rank-and-file cops said yesterday that they plan on following Lynch’s advice rather than risk their careers.

“We are being told not to look for perpetrators of crimes because then we are opening ourselves up to a lawsuit and the job isn’t going to represent us,” a police source said.

“Crime is about to skyrocket. We are going to show up and take reports. This was the safest city in the country . . . Now most crimes will go unsolved.”

Another source added: “These rookies are just getting on the job out of college. They’re not going to risk their pensions. Arrests are going to drop, and crime’s going to soar.

“It really puts a wrench into law enforcement. They’re going to be second-guessing everything they do.”

Another cop agreed that fear of being sued will hinder investigations — even in rape cases.

“If someone gets raped and says it was a black male, I’m going to be handicapped to stop someone because I could get sued for racial profiling. So now I’m just going to take reports,” the cop said.

Even the bad guys have gotten the memo.

“Perps on the street are saying, ‘If they’re not going to stop me, I’m going to start carrying [my gun] again.’ That’s the word on the street,” said one police source.

“The number of stops is going to go way down, and crime is going to go way up. Shootings and murders are going to come back big time,” the source said.

“Now all these guys who weren’t carrying guns are going to carry again, because they know we can’t stop them. The first thing a perp is going to say is, ‘You can’t stop me, I’m going to sue you,’ a second source agreed.

The sources said most cops want to pursue criminals and make stops, “but now they think if they do, they’re going to get sued and the department won’t have their backs. So now they’re not going to do squat. The situation is just too volatile.”

New bills passed by the City Council — following an override of Mayor Bloomberg’s vetoes — create an inspector general and allow citizens to sue cops in state court under an expanded definition of racial profiling.

IRS Targeting The American Legion

The Internal Revenue Service is targeting the veterans’ organization the American Legion, and a U.S. senator believes that Lois Lerner — a key figure in the IRS scandal – is to blame.

“The IRS now requires American Legion posts to maintain dates of service and character of service records for all members… The penalty for not having the required proof of eligibility is, apparently, $1,000 per day,” the American Legion stated.

The American Legion was referring to a 13-part section of Part 4, Chapter 76 of the Internal Revenue Manual pertaining to “veterans’ organizations.”

Almost 80 House Republicans are asking Boehner to support legislation to defund Obamacare!

Five Republican members of Michigan’s congressional delegation have signed a letter to U.S. House leaders calling on them to support legislation defunding health care reform legislation passed three years ago.

In all, 79 congressional Republicans signed the letter to House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., saying the Affordable Care Act, or what they referred to as Obamacare, leads to job losses, coverage changes and other negative effects.

“(Since) most of the citizens we represent believe that Obamacare should never go into effect, we urge you to affirmatively defund the implementation and enforcement” of the law in any spending bill that comes to the House floor, the letter read.

Judicial Watch obtained Defense Department training materials on Friday that described conservative and civil liberties organizations as “hate groups.”

The training materials used by the Air Force were created to help students “recognize extremists ideologies.” The materials identified conservative values, such as individual liberties and states’ rights, as recruiting rhetoric used by “extremists.”

According to Judicial Watch:

Under a section labeled “Extremist Ideologies” the document states, “In U.S. history, there are many examples of extremist ideologies and movements. The colonists who sought to free themselves from British rule and the Confederate states who sought to secede from the Northern states are just two examples.”

Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hassan was found guilty on all counts of premeditated murder and attempted murder Friday, making him eligible for the death penalty.

Sentencing was set for Monday.

A military jury deliberated for roughly one day before announcing the verdict.
Hasan sat emotionless, stroking his beard as the verdict was delivered.

He was charged with 13 counts of pre-meditated murder and 32 counts of attempted pre-meditated murder in the Nov. 2009 shooting attack at the sprawling Texas military base.

Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, had acted as his own attorney at the 13-day trial, but questioned only three of nearly 90 witnesses and presented only a single piece of evidence in his defense: an evaluation from his boss that called him a good soldier. He also chose not to make a closing statement.

The American-born Muslim told jurors during a brief opening statement that evidence would "clearly show" he was the shooter, and he described himself as a soldier who had "switched sides."

We already knew that IRS agents are training with powerful, semi-automatic rifles at a Maryland Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. (Congressman Jeff Duncan disclosed that he witnessed IRS agents training with powerful, semi-automatic rifles when he toured a Maryland Federal Law Enforcement Training Center on May 23.)

The Obama administration is also hiring dozens of detectives to find and punish Obamacare violators.

More than 1,600 new employees hired by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources in the aftermath of Obamacare’s passage include just two described as ‘consumer safety’ officers, but 86 tasked with ‘criminal investigating’ – indicating that the agency is building an army of detectives to sleuth out violations of a law that many in Congress who supported it still find confusing.

On the day President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law in 2010, HHS received authority from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to make as many as 1,814 new hires under an emergency ‘Direct Hiring Authority’ order.

The Obama administration ordered that employment expansion despite a government-wide hiring freeze.

A total of 1,684 of those positions were filled. An analysis by MailOnline shows that at 2010 federal government salary rates, the new employees’ salaries alone cost the U.S. at least $138.8 million every year.

Had the agency filled all its available jobs, that cost would have been a minimum of $159 million.

The hiring began in May 2010 and continued through June 2013, making the later hires eligible for higher salaries as a result of annual cost-of-living increases.

The difference between what HHS spent on new Obamacare-related employees and what it was authorized to spend is explained by its failure to hire most of the 261 ‘consumer safety officers’ it was authorized to bring aboard. Only two such employees were hired.

But while OPM authorized HHS Deputy Assistant Secretary for Human Resources Denise Carter — later renamed Denise Wells — to hire 50 criminal investigators, the agency increased that number to 86 on its own.

After MailOnline lodged a Freedom Of Information Request with HHS, the agency sent a spreadsheet containing records of the positions it filled, along with the salary level for each one on the government’s ‘GS’ hiring scale.

The lowest salary on the list was for a single contracting officer at Grade 7, Step 1, an annual rate of about $42,350, including a so-called ‘differential’ payments. Those increases are given to all federal employees in order to adjust for regional cost-of-living differences.

The highest salary in 2010 dollars, including that differential payment, was about $161,450, earned by a total of 29 new employee. They include health insurance administrators, contracting officers and information technology managers.

The fleet of 86 new criminal investigators are earning a range of compensation between $51,800 and $89,350, according to the 2010 salary tables and differential payment guidelines.

Planned Parenthood’s Obamacare “Navigators” To Be Given Access To Every Americans’ Personal, Medical, Tax Information

Planned Parenthood employees will soon have access to a vast federal database of sensitive information, including the Social Security number, tax form, bank account, and medical records of every single American citizen as the president seeks their help in implementing ObamaCare.

Consumers purchasing health insurance through health care exchanges will speak to “navigators,” whose job is to help them find the best coverage and determine if they are eligible for a federal subsidy.

The Obama administration has awarded Planned Parenthood more than $655,000 of taxpayer funds to hire “navigators” for the president’s health care reform law, the Affordable Care Act (ACA). State affiliates in Iowa, Montana and New Hampshire were among the 105 organizations receiving $67 million in federal grants.

HHS will not require background checks or fingerprinting of employees, and a previous criminal conviction – including one for identity theft – does not necessarily disqualify an employee from becoming a navigator.

Navigators and their assistants will have access to the federal data hub, an online nexus containing information from the Department of Health and Human Services and seven federal departments: the IRS, the Social Security Administration, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Defense Department, the Office of Personnel Management, the Veterans Health Administration, and the Peace Corps.

The meeting will be closed to the press and is described as “off the record” in the invite.

Rush Limbaugh weighed in on the horrific shooting of Aussie baseball player Chris Lane last Friday in Duncan, Oklahoma.Lane was shot dead by three black youths while he was jogging… just for fun.

22-year-old college baseball player Chris Lane was gunned down this week in Oklahoma while out for jog. One of the three perpetrators reportedly told police they did it simply because they were “bored.” Two of the three teenagers were black; the other was white. All were under the age of 18.

“No matter where you look in the media, it’s not a racial event,” the host said. “This is the epitome of media irresponsibility. This is a classic illustration of just what role the mainstream media is playing in the destruction of American culture and society.”

“There has been more outrage in the mainstream media to that stupid clown story at the Missouri State Fair than there has been to this wanton murder in Oklahoma,” Limbaugh charged. He claimed that he purposely withheld from talking about the story for 24 hours just to see whether the mainstream media would pick up on a story where “the victim is white and two of the perpetrators are black.”

“It took them 24 hours!” he asserted. “They are reporting it and letting it go. They’re not focusing on the racial component of any of the people involved in this. We have not heard from the Reverend Sharpton, the Reverend Jackson, the NAACP, we haven’t heard from anybody.”

ObamaCare Triggers Coverage Cuts

Employers dropping coverage for thousands of spouses over ObamaCare costs

Republican lawmakers are raising new concerns about ObamaCare after several large employers announced they are dropping health coverage to some employee spouses due to rising costs under the new law.

Both the University of Virginia and UPS told their employees recently they are no longer offering spousal coverage to those able to obtain insurance elsewhere; meaning thousands of Americans will no longer be able to choose the benefits they prefer.

UVA said Wednesday this is only one of many “major changes” coming to their health plans as a result of ObamaCare. The university says the changes are necessary because the law is projected to add $7.3 million to the cost of the university’s health plan in 2014 alone.

“The modified plan will provide new options and reward those who participate in wellness programs,” UVA’s Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Susan Carkeek said in a press release. “But we must make adjustments or face millions of dollars in rising costs, fees and taxes that would be passed along to employees.”

Similarly, UPS also partially blamed ObamaCare for the change, which is estimated to affect an estimate 15,000 employee spouses.

The rising cost of health care "combined with the costs associated with the Affordable Care Act, have made it increasingly difficult to continue providing the same level of health care benefits to our employees at an affordable cost," UPS said.

The trend has drawn the ire of Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, who cite it as a clear example the Obama administration is not following through on its promise that, “if you like your plan, you can keep it.”

“American families who are already grappling with higher health care costs under the law are also coming face-to-face with the stark reality that they will lose the coverage they have and like,” committee members said in a statement Wednesday.

The Obama administration would not respond when asked for comment on the UPS’ new policy by Kaiser Health News, but said when Massachusetts implemented a similar health overhaul, employer coverage actually increased.

Born in 1919, Eugene Allen grew up in segregated Virginia, and slowly worked his way up the butler profession, largely without incident. Unlike the fictional Cecil Gaines, he did not watch the boss rape his mother on a Georgia farm, only to shoot a bullet through his father’s head as he starts to protest the incident, leading Cecil years later to escape his past for a better future.

Instead, over a period of years, Allen rose from a “pantry man” to the highest position in White House service, Maître d’hôtel. His life was marked by quiet distinction and personal happiness. He was married to the same woman, Helene, for 65 years. He had one son, Charles, who served in Vietnam. During the Reagan years, Nancy Reagan invited Allen and his wife to a state dinner as guests. When he retired shortly afterwards, “President Reagan wrote him a sweet note. Nancy Reagan hugged him, tight,” according to the story in the Washington Post. During service, he never said a word of criticism about any president. Nor was his resignation an act of political protest.

The fictional Cecil, however, does not come to the White House under Truman, but arrives in 1957, just in time for one of the defining events of the civil rights movement—namely, President Eisenhower’s reluctant but firm decision to move federal troops into Little Rock, Arkansas, after Orval Faubus quite literally barred the school room door.

In general, the movie is full of hype. Cecil’s wholly fictional older son Louis gets involved in the civil rights movement from the time of the sit-ins through the rise of the Black Panther movement, and a younger brother, who professes pride in his country pays the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. Cecil’s wife, Gloria, falls prey to alcoholism and for a time has a shabby affair with the guy next door.

Gaines’ service is marked by quiet frustration, knowing that black workers suffered a 40 percent wage deficit that lasted under the Reagan years, while being excluded from well-deserved promotions. When the weight of these injustices hit him, Cecil resigns to join his son Louis in a protest movement. When Slate’s, Aisha Harris was asked “How True is The Butler?” her candid answer was “not much.”.

CAIR Forces Chicago Police To Scrap Counter-Terror Training

Amid protests from a Muslim civil liberties group, local police training officials have called off an anti-terrorism course for officers scheduled for Monday in Lombard that was to have been taught by an instructor the group regards as anti-Muslim.

The class was canceled this morning after the head of the agency in charge of police training statewide asked the local training agency, North East Multi-Regional Training, not to use the instructor until the state agency investigates his curriculum, said Phil Brankin, director of the local organization. Brankin said Kevin McClain, executive director of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board, said the trainer and course would not be used statewide until the investigation concludes.

The Chicago chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations had called for the cancellation of the class, “Islamic Awareness as a Counter-Terrorist Strategy,” arguing instructor Sam Kharoba is unqualified to teach about Islam and has depicted the religion as inherently violent.

“Counter-terrorism training is too important to be left to those who promote a bigoted political or religious agenda,” CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab said in a news release. “Our state’s law enforcement agencies should work with credible leaders of the Muslim community to address any issues related to Islam.”

Obama Asks Supreme Court To Allow Warrantless Cellphone Searches

If the police arrest you, do they need a warrant to rifle through your cellphone? Courts have been split on the question. Last week the Obama administration asked the Supreme Court to resolve the issue and rule that the Fourth Amendment allows warrantless cellphone searches.

In 2007, the police arrested a Massachusetts man who appeared to be selling crack cocaine from his car. The cops seized his cellphone and noticed that it was receiving calls from “My House.” They opened the phone to determine the number for “My House.” That led them to the man’s home, where the police found drugs, cash and guns.

The defendant was convicted, but on appeal he argued that accessing the information on his cellphone without a warrant violated his Fourth Amendment rights. Earlier this year, the First Circuit Court of Appeals accepted the man’s argument, ruling that the police should have gotten a warrant before accessing any information on the man’s phone.

The Obama Administration disagrees. In a petition filed earlier this month asking the Supreme Court to hear the case, the government argues that the First Circuit’s ruling conflicts with the rulings of several other appeals courts, as well as with earlier Supreme Court cases. Those earlier cases have given the police broad discretion to search possessions on the person of an arrested suspect, including notebooks, calendars and pagers. The government contends that a cellphone is no different than any other object a suspect might be carrying.

Over 100K New Jersey Residents To Lose The Health Insurance Plans Obama Promised They Could Keep

The latest casualty of Obamacare may be a low-cost New Jersey health-care policy. Though President Obama promised “if you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period,” that will not be the case for approximately 106,000 New Jersey residents whose plans will disappear under the law.

Known as the “basic and essential,” or B&E, health-care plans, the policy costs as little as a couple hundred dollars per month and is the choice of 71 percent of New Jersey residents on the individual insurance market. It provides minimum coverage for things such as doctor’s visits and procedures that don’t involve a hospital stay. According to the Newark Star-Ledger, B&E policy holders will, under Obamacare, “be left with may be a choice among pricey, pricier and priciest” plans.

So what happened to the B&E plans? They don’t meet the regulations imposed by the Affordable Care Act because they do not cover services that the law will force every individual health-insurance plan to provide. The Star-Ledger warns that B&E customers who don’t qualify for a federal tax credit to purchase insurance can likely expect an three or fourfold increase in the cost of their next plan. According to Rutgers University’s Center for State Health Policy director Joel Cantor, the monthly plans of $150 for a 25-year-old male or $1,100 for a family with parents in their 40s will “easily” be three or four times more for a standard policy on the individual market.

Parents at a Wichita, Kan. elementary school were shocked to discover a giant wall display inside the building promoting the five pillars of Islam.

The large exhibit was erected before the start of the school year as part of a religion component being taught at Minneha Core Knowledge Magnet School, a school district spokesperson told Fox News.

“The bulletin board that originally caused the concern does represent the 5 Pillars of Islam — in a historical context of their studies,” the spokesperson said.

The district said the photograph of the bulletin board is misleading because it is “without context.”

“There is also a painting of the Last Supper hanging in the school as part of the study of art and the Renaissance period,” the spokesperson said. “A photo take of a bulletin board without context is misleading, and some have taken it out of context without having all the information.”

Nevertheless, the school has removed the Islamic bulletin board until the subject matter is taught later this fall.

School officials said the study of Islam is part of their “Core Knowledge” magnet curriculum.

Ted Cruz To Renounce Canadian Citizenship

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) announced Monday evening that he will renounce his Canadian citizenship, less than 24 hours after a newspaper pointed out that the Canadian-born senator likely maintains dual citizenship.

“Now the Dallas Morning News says that I may technically have dual citizenship,” Cruz said in a statement. “Assuming that is true, then sure, I will renounce any Canadian citizenship. Nothing against Canada, but I’m an American by birth and as a U.S. senator; I believe I should be only an American.”

The Dallas Morning News wrote in a story posted late Sunday night that Cruz likely remains a Canadian citizen, by virtue of being born there to an American mother. Having never renounced that citizenship, Cruz was technically a Canadian and an American citizen, according to legal experts.

Cruz said his mother told him that he could claim his citizenship if he ever wanted to, but that he never pursued it and thought the matter was settled.

Legal experts say that Cruz is a Canadian citizen regardless of whether he asked for it or not.

“Because I was a U.S. citizen at birth, because I left Calgary when I was 4 and have lived my entire life since then in the U.S., and because I have never taken affirmative steps to claim Canadian citizenship, I assumed that was the end of the matter,” Cruz said.

Cruz, who released his birth certificate as part of the Morning News story, accused the media of focusing on trivial issues.

Sen. Harry Reid: Obamacare 'Absolutely' A Step Toward A Single-Payer System

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) was asked whether his goal was to move Obamacare to a single-payer system. His answer? “Yes, yes. Absolutely, yes.”

In one sense, this isn’t shocking. Reid and many other Democrats, including President Obama, have often stated that their ideal health-care system is one in which the government abolishes the private insurance market. Video of the PBS discussion isn’t yet online, but here’s how Karoun Demirjian of the Las Vegas Sun described it:

Reid said he thinks the country has to “work our way past” insurance-based health care during a Friday night appearance on Vegas PBS’ program “Nevada Week in Review.”

“What we’ve done with Obamacare is have a step in the right direction, but we’re far from having something that’s going to work forever,” Reid said.

When then asked by panelist Steve Sebelius whether he meant ultimately the country would have to have a health care system that abandoned insurance as the means of accessing it, Reid said: “Yes, yes. Absolutely, yes.”

Reid noted that he and other progressives fought hard for a “public option” in the exchanges as a Trojan horse for single-payer, but Democrats didn’t have 60 votes in the Senate to achieve it:

The idea of introducing a single-payer national health care system to the United States, or even just a public option, sent lawmakers into a tizzy back in 2009, when Reid was negotiating the health care bill.

“We had a real good run at the public option … don’t think we didn’t have a tremendous number of people who wanted a single-payer system,” Reid said on the PBS program, recalling how then-Sen. Joe Lieberman’s opposition to the idea of a public option made them abandon the notion and start from scratch.

Eventually, Reid decided the public option was unworkable.

“We had to get a majority of votes,” Reid said. “In fact, we had to get a little extra in the Senate, we have to get 60.”

Reid sees the tax exclusion for employer-sponsored health insurance as the primary obstacle to single-payer health care:

Reid cited the post-WWII auto industry labor negotiations that made employer-backed health insurance the norm, remarking that “we’ve never been able to work our way out of that” before predicting that Congress would someday end the insurance-based health care system.

Woman with Concealed Carry Handgun Stops Six Robbers at Houston Denny's

A woman whose husband was being accosted by six men in a Houston area Denny's pulled her concealed carry handgun from her purse and opened fire on the robbers.

According to Click2Houston.com, the wife was in the restroom, and when she came out she saw her husband lying on the floor, the group of robbers nearby. Police say she then "pulled her gun and shot at them."

It appears the robbers shot back and police say there was a shootout. The robbers were apparently running as they shot.

"No bystanders or customers" in the restaurant were injured, and the robbers "fled the scene."

The brother of the robbery victim praised the woman for doing what she did and said, "Self-defense saved my brothers' life."

Rep. Trey Gowdy: Lawmakers Not Told Of 1000s Of NSA Privacy Violations, “I’m Worried About The Republic”

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said late Friday that he doubts that members of Congress were briefed on the on the several thousands of privacy violations carried out by the National Security Agency (NSA) that were revealed earlier this week.

An internal NSA audit and other documents leaked by Edward Snowden revealed that the agency had broken its own privacy rules and violated privacy rights of citizens thousands of times since 2008, according to The Washington Post.

“I wonder how many of my colleagues in Congress were briefed that there were thousands of errors made with respect to this program, because I have a sneaking suspicion the number is zero,” said Gowdy on Fox News.

“That’s how many of my colleagues were told ahead of time before we had to learn from a leaker to a newspaper that there were thousands of violations.”

Many members of Congress, including Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who is charged with overseeing the NSA, have said they were not made aware of the audit until recently.
And Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) has called for a hearing on the matter when Congress returns next month.

Gowdy said he’s been hearing a great roar of dissatisfaction and distrust from voters in his South Carolina district, and that Congress needs to take serious steps to fix its oversight capabilities of highly secretive intelligence operations, like those carried out by the NSA.

“If we don’t get that figured out, I’m not worried about winning elections, I’m worried about the republic,” said Gowdy. “People who are governed have consented to be governed [and] have to have trust in the people we have put in positions of responsibility.”

An Illinois Republican congressman told constituents at a town hall meeting on Wednesday that then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton screamed at a fellow member of Congress two days after a U.S. diplomatic station in Benghazi, Libya was destroyed, merely for saying aloud that the attack was carried out by terrorist groups.

Obama and his White House officials initially maintained that the deaths of four Americans and the firebomb attack on the State Department mission was the result of a spontaneous protest against a low-budget YouTube film that was critical of the Muslim prophet Muhammad.

'Two days after this attack,' said Rep. Adam Kinzinger, 'we were in a briefing with Hillary Clinton and she screamed at a member of Congress who’d dare suggest that this was a terrorist attack.'

'Now we find out that while it was happening, they knew it was a terrorist attack. These are answers that we're going to get to the bottom of.'

We all remember Obama’s comments from 2008 about some kind of brown shirt domestic military force that’s just as well equipped and funded as our foreign military force. Well, a former Marine colonel told a local city council meeting in Concord, N.H. that he believes that the federal government is indeed building a domestic force and he’s surprised the rest of us cannot see it. Given Obama’s statement from 2008 and the vehicle and ammunition purchases we’ve read about, it’s hard to say this is exactly conspiracy territory. The people in the room sure didn’t think so as they erupted in cheers when he was done speaking.

A Tennessee elementary school banned students from eating ham sandwiches, BLT’s and anything else made with pork, but eventually lifted the ban after parents complained. Third grade teachers at Sunset Elementary School in Brentwood, Tenn. sent home an “Approved Snack List” for the school year and it specifically banned anything that comes from a pig.

“No meats containing pork,” read the memorandum. “Starting Monday, August 12, 2013 your child must provide their own snack from the above approved snack list.”
Kids could nosh on raw vegetables without dips or sauces, fresh fruit, crackers, pretzels, and popcorn – but no ribs or pork rinds.

“Only choose a food from the following list to bring into school for snack,” the memorandum stated in bold-face type. “No other food items are permitted.”

EPA chief Gina McCarthy promised the agency would bypass Congress in responding to non-existent global warming climate change this week. She’s done it before.

EPA chief Gina McCarthy said Wednesday that the Obama administration is finished waiting for Congress to act on climate change and plans to bypass the legislative branch in developing a federal response.

Ms. McCarthy, who was confirmed last month as Environmental Protection Agency administrator, cited President Obama’s June 25 speech at Georgetown University, in which he unveiled his Climate Action Plan and vowed to make combatting climate change a priority of his second term.

Mr. Obama gave “what I really think is a most remarkable speech by a president of the United States,” said Ms. McCarthy in remarks at the University of Colorado Boulder.

“Essentially, he said that it is time to act,” she said. “And he said he wasn’t going to wait for Congress, but that he had administrative authorities and that it was time to start utilizing those more effectively and in a more concerted way.”

She insisted that reducing greenhouse-gas emissions could be accomplished without harming economic growth, calling the tension between the two priorities a “false choice.”

White House Awards Grants for Enrolling Citizens onto Obamacare Exchanges

Over 100 organizations—including Planned Parenthood affiliates, community groups, health care providers, and business groups—will receive $67 million in grants to serve as “navigators” who will help Americans sign up for health insurance in Obamacare’s new state exchanges.

Among the “navigator” recipients of the awards are Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Mobile ($20,750), University of Arkansas ($774,745), Arizona Board of Regents, University of Arizona ($190,268), Pinellas County (FL) Board of County Commissioners ($600,000), National Hispanic Council on Aging ($646,825), University of Georgia ($1,657,378), Mercy Hospital and Medical Center (IL) ($452,590), Arab Community Center for Economic & Social Services ($276,593), University of Mississippi Medical Center ($831,986), Mental Health America (in multiple locations), and Migrant Health Promotion, Inc. ($589,750).

CMS.gov has a complete list of “navigator” recipients who will be helping Americans sign up for the Obamacare exchanges.

Jason Millman at Politico reported Thursday that The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said the $67 million in grants is in excess of what the Obama administration initially said would be available for the “navigators.” An additional $13 million was taken from the health law prevention fund for those states that refused to set up the exchanges, leaving it instead to the federal government to do so.

The “navigators” will especially be utilized in what Millman refers to as “Obamacare-resistant states,” where the president’s signature legislation is not being promoted. Navigators cannot recommend a specific health insurance plan or coverage but are supposedly working to help Americans understand their options. Navigators are also prohibited from accepting compensation from insurers.

Texas and Florida, Millman reports, have been “singled out” as key to Obamacare’s success. Navigators in those states will receive about $10.9 million and $7.9 million, respectively.

The single biggest grant — approximately $5.9 million — went to the United Way of Metropolitan Tarrant County, which serves the Fort Worth and Arlington areas of Texas. The group says it plans to work across the state, according to HHS.

He further reports that 19 of the “Obamacare-resistant states” have put forward additional requirements for more navigator training and licensure beyond what the Obama administration requires, leading to some legal issues regarding state versus federal laws.

Three Planned Parenthood affiliates in Iowa, Montana, and New Hampshire received a grant of $655,000 to serve as “navigators.”

President Obama asked Planned Parenthood to help him promote Obamacare during his appearance at the organization’s gala event in April.

"I’m here to… ask for your help, because we need to get the word out,” he told Planned Parenthood supporters. “We need you to tell your patients, your friends, your neighbors, your family members what the health care law means for them.”

Obama added:

Make sure that they know that there are plans out there right now that cover the cost of contraception and preventative care free of charge. We’ve got to spread the word, particularly among women, particularly among young women, who are the ones who are most likely to benefit from these laws.

Regarding the “navigators,” HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said in a statement:

Navigators will be among the many resources available to help consumers understand their coverage options in the Marketplace. A network of volunteers on the ground in every state – health care providers, business leaders, faith leaders, community groups, advocates and local elected officials – can help spread the word and encourage their neighbors to get enrolled.

Awesome Rep. Trey Gowdy Discusses Defunding Obamacare

GOWDY: Obamacare passed without a single Republican vote; let’s see if Dems can fund it without a single Republican vote.

Rep. Trey Gowdy was on with Lou Dobbs last night to discuss the defunding of Obamacare and said that he doesn’t understand why Republicans are told that Obamacare is the law and therefore they must fund it when the President is constantly deciding which laws he wants to ignore.

Further, he stressed that Obamacare was passed without a single, solitary Republican vote and that we should see if Democrats can fund it without a single, solitary Republican vote.

I find it fascinating that Republicans are criticized because they want to slow down or defund Obamacare but it’s OK if the president wants to not enforce the law. We are repeatedly told – in fact I read somewhere over the weekend ‘this is the law, a conservative supreme court validated it, so get used to it.’

Well apparently just when we’re getting used to it the president decides he’s not going to implement it. So my guess is we’re going to have a very robust debate this fall. If it’s not good enough for prime time and clearly it is not, then why don’t we just go ahead and start over.

Lou, it passed without a single, solitary Republican vote. Let’s see if you can fund it without a single, solitary Republican vote.

(Lou then asks if he thinks it will be funded, and can Republicans actually significantly alter the law or can they repeal it in reality?)

We’ll we’re going to need the Senate to repeal it but there are lots of law – in fact you and I in another segment may discuss [how] the Attorney General doesn’t like a law. So he’s just not going to enforce it.

Well if it’s good enough for the President and the Attorney General when it comes to recess appointments or the Affordable Care Act or immigration to just ignore the law when they don’t like it, then why can’t Republicans, when you have something as wildly unpopular as the so-called Affordable Care Act which has been a train wreck as described by people who voted for it – it was passed without a single Republican vote.

And we’re expected to fund it just because it passed before many of us got to Congress?

My suspicion is we’re going to have a robust debate this fall about just how unpopular it is.

And what about same-sex military couples who live in a state where same-sex marriage is not allowed? No problem.

“We recognize that same-sex military couples who are not stationed in a jurisdiction that permits same-sex marriage would have to travel to another jurisdiction to marry. That is why the department will implement policies to allow military personnel in such a relationship non-chargeable leave for the purpose of travelling to a jurisdiction where such a marriage may occur,” the DOD news release said.

“This will provide accelerated access to the full range of benefits offered to married military couples throughout the department, and help level the playing field between opposite-sex and same-sex couples seeking to be married.”

Pelosi Pushes To Make California A Sanctuary State For Illegal Immigrants

Twenty-eight of California’s congressional representatives are throwing their weight behind state legislation that would make it harder to deport immigrants who are in the country illegally.

The representatives — all Democrats, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco — sent a letter to Gov. Jerry Brown urging him to sign the bill if it reaches his desk.

The bill, known as the Trust Act, “establishes a bright line standard between local law enforcement and federal immigration enforcement” and would “continue California’s proud tradition of being a leader on smart and sensible policies,” the letter says.

The representatives said unnecessary deportations have “reduced the willingness of immigrant and non-immigrant crime victims and witnesses to cooperate with local law enforcement, and consequently has diminished public safety.”

Among the letter’s signatories are Reps. Zoe Lofgren and Mike Honda both of San Jose, and recently departed members of the state Legislature now in Washington such as Reps. Alan Lowenthal of Long Beach and Jared Huffman of San Rafael.

California Senate Passes Bill Mandating Background Checks And Permits For Ammunition Purchases

A controversial gun measure proposed by a Southern California lawmaker that would require background checks for all ammunition purchases statewide is moving forward in Sacramento.

Senator Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) first introduced Senate Bill 53 last December, which would require anyone wishing to purchase ammunition in California to first obtain a Ammunition Purchase Permit issued by the Department of Justice, valid for one year from the date of issuance.

To obtain such a permit, the holder would have to pass a traditional background check as well as a mental health check, according to De León. The legislation would also ban online and mail order sales of ammunition to Californians.

In addition, SB 53 would require all ammunition sales to take place at a limited list of State-approved “ammunition vendors”, who would also be required to submit sales records to the CA Department of Justice.

Dallas Cowboys Announce Move To Frisco

We have the number one sports franchise in the world…locating to Frisco, Texas.” With that statement, Frisco Mayor Maher Maso welcomed the Dallas Cowboys to one of the fastest growing communities in the nation.

Accompanied by cheerleaders, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his son, executive vice president Stephen Jones, joined Frisco leaders to announce the city as the future home of the team’s headquarters and practice facility.

Frisco’s city council and school board voted to invest $115 million to build the complex that will include a 12,000 seat indoor stadium. The stadium will be paid for mostly through a city sales tax, with the school district funding part of the construction. The deal, which was approved late Monday, calls for the Cowboys to manage the facilities and pay operating costs. Jones did not specify how much money the team would contribute, but made a promise not to sacrifice quality.

“Whatever we do, we do want it to be successful. We have always over-performed when it comes to spending money. I had to agree with Arlington that I would spend at least $325 million, which is what they put up to build the stadium. So rather than 325 additional I think I spent another $900 million to do it right. So we are going to do it right.”

The Cowboys have also agreed to pay anything over and above the estimated costs, according to Jones.

Frisco ISD is contributing $30 million to the project and its high school students will have use of the stadium, according to superintendent Dr. Jeremy Lyon.

“As a growing school district we were in need of a new stadium,” he said. It gives Frisco students the opportunity “to enjoy marching band competitions and convocations and football games and soccer games in a world class state of the art facility.”

Groundbreaking on the facility should happen within the next year, with the complex’s anticipated opening date set for Fall 2016. The 91-acre development, located on the corner of the Dallas North Tollway and Warren Parkway, includes 25 acres for the Cowboys’ facilities, while the remaining 66 acres will be used for stores, restaurants and a luxury hotel. According to city officials, the development will generate $1.26 billion in tax revenue with an estimated economic impact of $23.4 billion over the next 30 years.

Frisco is already home to FC Dallas of Major League Soccer, a minor league affiliate of baseball’s Texas Rangers and the training facility for hockey’s Dallas Stars.

The deal will end a four-decade relationship between the Cowboys and the suburb of Irving.

Fresh out of a two week treatment for sexual addiction, San Diego Mayor Bob Filner has been banned from Hooters restaurants in his city, according to a spokesperson. Signs have even been posted in the front windows of each location.

The ban was first discovered Monday by Francis Barraza, the executive director of the Republican Party of San Diego, and shared in a tweet.

Barraza tweeted an image of a sign in a local Hooters with the caption ‘My local hooters won't serve Bob Filner.’ A Hooters spokesperson told Slate that all San Diego Hooters have banded together to ban their depraved mayor.

NBC: Obamacare Is Forcing Companies to Cut Employee Hours

There has never been a more destructive piece of legislation passed by the US government.

The release of the June Jobs’ Report Friday was something of a relief for the markets. The Labor Department reported that the economy gained 195,000 jobs in June, which beat economists’ expectations. The Department also reported that the economy gained 70,000 more jobs in April and May than it originally estimated. The report, however, also provides clear evidence that the the nation is splitting into two; only 47% of Americans have a full-time job and those who don’t are finding it increasingly out of reach.

Of the 144 million Americans employed last month, only 116 million were working full-time. Friday’s report showed that 58.7% of the civilian adult population of 245 million was working last month. Only 47% of Americans, however, had a full-time job.

On August 12, Joe DiGenova, attorney for one of the Benghazi whistleblowers, told Washington D.C.’s WMAL that one of the reasons people have remained tight-lipped about Benghazi is because 400 U.S. missiles were “diverted to Libya” and ended up being stolen and falling into “the hands of some very ugly people.”

DiGenova represents Benghazi whistleblower Mark Thompson. He told WMAL that he “does not know whether [the missiles] were at the annex, but it is clear the annex was somehow involved in the distribution of those missiles.”

He claimed his information “comes from a former intelligence official who stayed in constant contact with people in the special ops and intelligence community.” He said the biggest concern right now is finding those missiles before they can be put to use. “They are worried, specifically according to these sources, about an attempt to shoot down an airliner,” he claimed.

On August 4, Breitbart News covered a report in The Telegraph that said 35 CIA operatives were working in Benghazi when the attack against the consulate took place. The Telegraph claimed these operatives were allegedly in an “annex near the consulate [working] on a project to supply missiles from Libyan armories to Syrian Rebels.”

Months earlier, following then-Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta’s February 7 testimony on Capitol Hill about the Benghazi attacks, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) suggested that one of the causes behind the terrorist attack “may have been that there was a gun running operation going on in Benghazi, leaving Libya and going to Turkey and [distributing] arms to the [Syrian] rebels.”

In the air he swapped his suit and tie for khakis and a blue shirt with rolled-up sleeves, while Mrs Obama wore a yellow-and-white summer dress.

Bo, the president’s Portuguese Water Dog, arrived separately on one of two MV-22 Ospreys, a hybrid aircraft which takes off like a helicopter but flies like a plane.

It was the first time the Ospreys have been taken on holiday by a US president.

The killer had spray-painted his face silver and black because he believed Allah favored the Raiders.

A 34 year-old Sacramento man who said he was “on a mission from Allah” went to an Ace Hardware store and stabbed an employee 17 times.

A 34-year-old Sacramento man who went to an El Sobrante hardware store on a “mission from Allah to help people” before fatally stabbing an employee 17 times was arraigned on murder charges Tuesday, prosecutors say.

Daymond Agnew, charged with murder with use of a knife in Sunday’s slaying of 49-year-old Daniel Joseph Stone, of Pinole, at Oliver’s Ace Hardware, did not enter a plea and was ordered to return to the Richmond courthouse on Aug. 13 with a public defender.

Agnew has been held in County Jail on $1.3 million bail since prosecutors say that — by sheer coincidence — he was captured in the store owner’s family home, located not far from the store at 4071 San Pablo Dam Road.

According to witnesses, surveillance video and the defendant’s own account, Agnew went to the store and walked up to Stone and a customer as they were discussing a paint purchase, deputy district attorney Mary Knox said. After Stone told Agnew that he would help the customer on his own, Agnew used the store’s spray paint to paint his face in Oakland Raiders’ silver and black because the football team is “in favor with Allah,” Knox said.

Agnew stabbed Stone at least once in the store after Stone told colleagues to call 911, Knox said. Agnew allegedly stabbed Stone many more times outside the store before running to a nearby creek.

By way of the creek, Agnew ended up in the backyard of the home of the store owner, Richard Oliver, who had just received the call about the attack on his employee, Knox said. Oliver, who was with his wife and son, fled the residence and called police to their home.

Barack Obama said he is “offended” by Russian laws targeting gays and lesbians, but said he is not in favor of boycotting the Sochi Olympics next February.

“I do not think it’s appropriate to boycott the Olympics. We’ve got a bunch of Americans who are training hard, who are doing everything they can to succeed,” Obama said at a White House news conference Friday afternoon.

“One of the things I’m looking forward to is maybe some gay and lesbian athletes bringing home the gold, or silver, or bronze,” he said.

“If Russia doesn’t have gay or lesbian athletes, it will probably make their team weaker,” Obama added.

Expatriates giving up their nationality at U.S. embassies climbed to 1,131 in the three months through June from 189 in the year-earlier period, according to Federal Register figures published today. That brought the first-half total to 1,810 compared with 235 for the whole of 2008.

The U.S., the only nation in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development that taxes citizens wherever they reside, is searching for tax cheats in offshore centers, including Switzerland, as the government tries to curb the budget deficit. Shunned by Swiss and German banks and facing tougher asset-disclosure rules under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, more of the estimated 6 million Americans living overseas are weighing the cost of holding a U.S. passport.

“With the looming deadline for Fatca, more and more U.S. citizens are becoming aware that they have U.S. tax reporting obligations,” said Matthew Ledvina, a U.S. tax lawyer at Anaford AG in Zurich. “Once aware, they decide to renounce their U.S. citizenship.”

Fatca requires foreign financial institutions to report to the Internal Revenue Service information about financial accounts held by U.S. taxpayers, or held by foreign entities in which U.S. taxpayers hold a substantial ownership interest. It was estimated to generate $8.7 billion over 10 years, according to the congressional Joint Committee on Taxation.

After Obama explained some of the changes that will take place once key parts of his healthcare plan go into effect Oct. 1, Leno turned to the subject of Trayvon Martin, expressing admiration for the president’s recent remarks about the verdict and the larger issues of racial discrimination.

“What I wanted to try to explain was why this was a particularly sensitive topic for African American families, because a lot of people who have sons know the experience they had of being followed, being viewed suspiciously,” he said.

“We all know that young African American men disproportionally have an involvement in criminal activities and violence, for a lot of reasons,” the president continued, citing factors such as poverty, failing schools and blighted communities.

“That’s no excuse, but what we also believe in is everybody should be treated fairly and the system should work for everyone. So what I’m trying to do is just make sure that we have a conversation and that we’re all asking ourselves are there some things that we can do to better foster understanding and to make sure that we don’t have laws in place that encourage the kind of violent encounter that we saw there that resulted in tragedy,” he said.

Barack Obama personally negotiated an Obamacare exemption for Congress and Congressional staffers

Members of Congress and Hill staffers will not lose their health-care subsidies from the government when Obamacare is implemented because of an exception proposed Wednesday by the Office of Personnel Management.

Under the current system, the government covers most of the cost of health-care premiums for members and their staffers. But an amendment to the Affordable Care Act — proposed by Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley — threw those subsidies into question saying that members and staff must enter into the exchanges or be covered by insurance “created” by law.

The potential for staff losing the subsidies led to concerns of “brain drain” from the Hill if staffers left as a result of the increased costs.

Last week, when President Barack Obama came to the Hill to meet with Senate Democrats, he informed them that he would personally get involved to sort out the confusion, and the White House said that OPM would issue guidelines this week.

US Chaplain Alliance Files Brief With U.S. Supreme Court in Support of Chaplains’ Right to Pray

It’s really unbelievable that military chaplains have to plead with the Supreme Court for the right to pray at public meetings. What has happened to this great nation?

The Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty, an organization dedicated to protecting the right of service members to live out their faith as they protect the liberties of all Americans, has filed an amicus brief in the U.S. Supreme Court in support of the right of Americans to pray before public meetings.

The religious liberties case, Town of Greece v. Galloway, provides the U.S. Supreme Court the opportunity to affirm America’s long-standing practice of opening public meetings with prayer.

“We are calling for the Supreme Court to affirm public prayer, which is rooted in our nation’s history and tradition, and to allow chaplains and others to continue to pray in public meetings, just as our founding fathers sought to ensure,” said CH (COL) Ron Crews, executive director for Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty. “Our military chaplaincy provides an elegant model, created by the Founders and upheld by the courts, of a respectful accommodation of religious belief–a model whose principles can and should be applied to legislative prayer.”

“Our brief makes the point that a military chaplain, just like a chaplain in a town council meeting, cannot fulfill his or her duties with the federal courts looking over one shoulder and a hypothetical observer looking over the other to assess when a religious activity may make an observer feel like an outsider,” Crews explained.

Obama on Tuesday argued that enactment of the Senate’s immigration reform bill would boost home values across the country.

“It’s pretty simple: when more people buy homes, and play by the rules, home values go up for everybody,” Obama said during a speech on home ownership in Phoenix.

Obama conceded that immigration was “something you don’t always hear about when it comes to the housing market,” but he said the two things go hand in hand.

“According to one recent study, the average homeowner has already seen the value of their home boosted by thousands of dollars, just because of immigration,” the president said.

Cecilia Munoz, the director of the White House Domestic Policy council, tweeted during Obama’s speech that it was a “fact” that immigration reform “will substantially increase home values.”

Obama threatens defense veto if health care premiums for military not increased

The Obama administration is threatening to veto the 2014 defense authorization bill unless health care insurance premiums and co-pays are increased, Investor's Business Daily said Wednesday. The administration also wants to reduce the proposed 1.8 percent pay increase for military personnel.

According to the Army Times, the administration says the bill is "too generous with military pay" and not generous enough for civilian employees. The administration only wants to give service members a one percent raise.

"A 1.8 percent increase would keep pace [with] the average increase last year in private sector salaries, while the 1 percent raise would create a slight gap," the Army Times said. Obama's proposed increase would be the first raise in over a decade that failed to keep pace with the private sector, IBD said.

The administration has also proposed cost-cutting measures like increased Tricare health fees for military retirees.

Citing the Navy Times, IBD said Obama's proposal includes a freeze for 2014 for Medicare-eligible retirees in the Tricare for Life program. Subsequent years, however, would see rapid increases with annual hikes of $150 in maximum fees for most retirees and $200 for flag officers.

“Unless this bill passes the Congress in the context of an overall budget framework that supports our recovery and enables sufficient investments in education, infrastructure, innovation and national security for our economy to compete in the future, the president’s senior advisers would recommend that he veto HR 2397 and any other legislation that implements the House Republican Budget framework,” the Office of Management and Budget said in a letter.

One GOP congressional aide told the Washington Free Beacon Obama is "forcing nearly 200,000 troops out of uniform” through sequestration.

“For years, the Obama administration has swollen the federal workforce and asked the military to pay for it,” the aide said. “Now he’s cutting the pay of those lucky enough to survive.”

“After three huge cuts to the military in four years, it’s time the Obama administration look elsewhere for savings,” the aide added, suggesting they "start with the IRS."

The administration also took exception to a provision in the bill that prohibits the transfer of detainees from the Guantanamo Bay prison camp in Cuba.

“The continued prosecution of terrorists in federal court is an essential element of counterterrorism efforts—a powerful tool that must remain an available option,” the administration said.

Obama issued a similar threat in 2012, demanding military service members pay more for health care.

In February 2012, we reported that the administration planned to cut health benefits for active duty and retired military personnel and their families while not touching the benefits enjoyed by unionized civilian defense workers.

At the time, congressional aides suggested the move was intended to force service members into Obamacare.

We are closing embassies around the world after President Obama told us that the war on terror was as good as over.
And he looks so weak when there is a thug like Putin on the other side of the table.

For example, the Cold War and USSR is history but Putin is boosting military ties with Cuba. What for? This is what "thugs" do when they sense weakness.

Putin is having a good time insulting Obama, as Michael Crowley reminds us today:

California Ordered To Release 10,000 Criminals Onto The Streets

On August 2 the U.S. Supreme Court refused California Governor Jerry Brown’s (D) emergency request to halt the release of inmates from that state’s prison system.

This means the June order for Brown to release approximately 10,000 prisoners stands and Brown is expected to comply.

According to the AP, Brown and his attorneys fought this order believing compliance with it will include the release of “violent criminals and overwhelm the abilities of law enforcement and social services to monitor” the newly released prisoners.

Attorneys for the state of California pointed out that no state has ever released such a large number of prisoners at once, and that “no data suggests that a sudden release of inmates with [violent] characteristics can be done safely.”

Justices Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia, and Clarence Thomas dissented from the court’s decision. All three said they would have “granted the state’s request” to halt the release of prisoners.

One. That’s how many people showed up for a pro-Obamacare event in Centerville, Virginia. And let’s face it: People didn’t miss the event because they were working. The ambivalence toward the implementation of Obamacare is evidenced throughout the nation, as the President’s left over campaigning apparatus – Organizing for Action – held a number of unattended Obamacare events this weekend. The event, reported by Politico, illustrated the growing displeasure with the President’s signature piece of legislation.

Democrats are scrambling to garner support for the legislation as some of the most sweeping initiatives are set to take place by 2014.

According to Politico, the event was one of thousands around the country to rally support for the government takeover of one-sixth of the US economy. Apparently a few liberally inclined community members showed up for the event, but left before things really kicked off. In the end, one volunteer and the event organizer, were left manning phones. . . An activity that proved sooooooo exiting, even the event organizer left after twenty short minutes.

The event, which seems to have illustrated the public’s ambivalence toward Obama’s legacy-inspiring piece of legislation, was – well, it was a failure.

Control Freak Michelle's School Lunch Overhaul Is $3 BILLION Waste of Tax Payer Money

As schools continue to grapple with the school lunch menu overhaul pushed by First Lady Michelle Obama, some are realizing their headache isn’t just from a lack of food.

The program involves way too much green – and we’re not talking lettuce and Brussel sprouts.

We mean the estimated $3.2 billion schools will have to find to implement the new federal regulations. Many schools are also losing money due the unpopular Obama menu.

“New school lunch regulations mean financial losses for Pittsfield Public Schools,” reported The Berkshire Eagle in Massachusetts.

The school district expects a program operating loss of more than $100,000 due to a required equipment upgrade, as well as fewer lunches and snacks being sold.

Congressman Todd Rokita, a member of the House Education and Workforce Committee, noted at a recent hearing, “Because the law requires students to take fruits and vegetables for lunch, even if they have no intention of eating them, schools are struggling with increased waste. After implementing the new standards a year early, one Florida school district estimated students threw out $75,000 worth of food.”

“At Dedham High School in Massachusetts, providing the required vegetables in 1500 meals each week costs the district about $111 a day – but administrators report many students just throw the fresh vegetables right into the trash,” his statement read.

Screaming Eagle leader dies at 87

Sidney Berry commanded the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell in 1973-74. He is also known for his leadership of the Division during Vietnam at Firebase Ripcord.

Sidney Bryan Berry, who led the 101st Airborne Division in the last major battle of the Vietnam War between the U.S. Army and North Vietnamese Army, died in Kennett Square, Pa., July 1 at age 87. Berry died of Parkinson’s disease, congestive heart failure and coronary artery disease.

Berry was a highly decorated Soldier in the U.S. Army who served in combat for more than three years in Korea and Vietnam and was twice promoted on the battlefield. He retired as a lieutenant general in 1980.

The last major battle between the U.S. Army and NVA was the evacuation of Firebase Ripcord in July 1970. Berry was serving as assistant Division commander for operations in the 101st Airborne Division and since the actual commander of the Division was on a 30-day leave at the time, Berry assumed command of the Screaming Eagles.

Berry also commanded the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell in 1973-74. He later summarized his service with the Division during that year:

“During [Berry’s] command and over his objection, the Department of the Army took the Division’s Soldiers off parachute or ‘jump’ status. Berry moved swiftly to forestall a decline in the troopers’ morale and esprit and to emphasize the 101st Division’s uniqueness with its 400-plus helicopters as the world’s only helicopter-borne Division. He organized an Air Assault School, approved award of an Air Assault Badge to the school’s graduates, and modified the division’s name to 101st Airborne Division. Today, the Army has several Air Assault schools modeled after that of the Screaming Eagles, and thousands of Soldiers proudly wear the Air Assault Badge.”

Berry’s most difficult assignment was the one after Fort Campbell, when he served as superintendent of the United States Military Academy at West Point from 1974 to 1977. Recent obituaries of Berry in The Washington Post and The New York Times have focused on the two widely publicized challenges Berry faced there in 1976: the admission of women into the Corps of Cadets July 1, 1976, and the widespread violations of West Point’s Honor Code on a take-home electrical-engineering test that resulted in the expulsion of 152 cadets, although 98 were subsequently reinstated, generally a year later. The Honor Code violations were the subject of a Time magazine cover story and Harvard Business School case study.

Ripcord

The helicopters of the 101st Airborne Division were instrumental in Berry’s two major operations with the Division during his service there as assistant Division commander for operations from 1970 to 1971.

The first of these operations was the evacuation of Firebase Ripcord, situated on a mountain overlooking the A Shau Valley in Vietnam, in July 1970. The Americans were surrounded by a full-strength division of the North Vietnamese Army, who began the assault on Ripcord July 1, 1970. On July 18, a U.S. Chinook helicopter carrying a load of fuel to the firebase was shot down and crashed onto an ammunition dump.

“I was flying in the area at the time,” Berry reported in his lengthy interview in 1983 for the U.S. Army Military History Institute’s Senior Officer Oral History Program at Carlisle Barracks, Pa. “It appeared that the whole hilltop was exploding – like a Mount Vesuvius.”

Berry, who was the acting Division commander of the 101st at the time, eventually ordered the evacuation of all the 350 troops, artillery and other materiel from the firebase by helicopter. After many trips by Huey and Chinook helicopters, the U.S. Army completed the extraction of men and materiel, July 23, 1970.

“It was in one sense a highly successful operation,” Berry said.

“It was a withdrawal under fire by airmobile means carried out under extremely difficult circumstances” – in what turned out to be the last major battle of the war between the U.S. Army and the North Vietnamese Army.

“Our casualties were minimal compared to what they could have been. But, on the other hand, we gave up ground that we had held for a couple of months.”

The battle took the life of battalion commander Lt. Col. Andre Lucas, who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, which Berry recommended.

Years later, in 2006, Berry visited the elementary school at Fort Campbell named after Lucas.

A Soldier’s Soldier

For Berry’s fellow Soldiers, Berry was above all a Soldier’s Soldier, one who repeatedly fought in combat, was wounded twice (once in Korea and once in Vietnam), and reached out to the Soldier in the field. Four times Berry was awarded the Silver Star Medal for “gallantry in action” and “valorous acts” against an enemy in combat; twice he awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (accompanied by 42 Air Medals) for “heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight,” as Army regulations define the awards.

Berry “loved Soldiers and loved soldiering and all that goes with it,” Jim Campbell, who served with Berry in Vietnam, later wrote.

The men of Company B, 501st Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, still gather and remember the day in October 1970 when then Brig. Gen. Berry and his pilot, 1st Lt. John Fox, and the brigade commander, Col. Benjamin Harrison and his pilot flew in to extract them from the jungles of Vietnam. After drinking bad water, nearly three-quarters of the 85-man company were sick from vomiting, diarrhea and high fever. Isolated in the bush and beaten down by the 45 inches of rain that fell that month during the monsoons, the men had eaten their last C-rations two days earlier. The clouds were moving in, but Berry and Harrison each made five-round trips to ferry the men to safety. The foot Soldiers were astonished to learn that a general and a colonel had extracted them.

“As those unshaven, soaked, grimy, fatigued, smelly Infantrymen approached the helicopter that was to remove them from the jungle and take them back to some degree of comfort and security, it was a pleasure to see their faces light up, their broad grins, their thumbs-up symbol,” Berry wrote his wife, Anne Hayes Berry, who survives her husband of 64 years. Sometimes in Vietnam Brig. Gen. Berry would spend the night in the field with the Soldiers to get a better sense of how things were on the ground – a practice at variance with official Army policy, which did not want its general officers to be captured by the enemy.

Books in Berry’s life

Berry was a faithful Christian who began and ended each day, in war and in peacetime, by reading Scripture.

“General Berry was very open about his personal faith – I appreciated that,” said Ken Miller, First Captain of the USMA Class of 1977. Berry sometimes cited Psalm 46 – “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” - during the troubled times at West Point, Miller said.

Berry was an avid reader of history and literature and a copious writer of letters and reports. When, in the 1990s, he turned to writing his own book, he chose as his topic his experiences as commander of Able Company in the Korean War. The book, “Able Company Is My Home,” was recently edited by Lt. Col. (Ret.) Douglas Johnson, Berry’s aide during his last tour of duty, as commander of V Corps in Germany. Johnson, who lives in Carlisle, Pa., is affiliated with the U.S. Army War College.

In August 1949, Berry was posted to Japan, where he joined Able Company, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. In June 1950, while Anne Berry was en route to Japan to join her husband, the Korean War broke out when the North Korean Army invaded South Korea. Berry was wounded in Korea on Sept. 2 and hospitalized in Japan for three weeks (where Anne Berry was living) before returning to his company in Korea.

The War College in Carlisle also figures in another of Berry’s literary contributions, his championing of Anton Myrer’s 1968 novel “Once an Eagle.”

“The [novel’s] protagonist, Sam Damon, is a Soldier’s Soldier, a hard-fighting commander filled with concern for his troops,” wrote Elizabeth Becker in “The Officer” magazine. “His antagonist, Courtney Massengale, triumphs over Sam Damon by manipulating the political system in Washington and making all the right career moves, even though he disdains the rank-and-file” Soldiers.

“Myrer’s Sam Damon is a Soldier to admire, love and emulate,” Berry wrote, and “Courtney Massengale, a Soldier to despise and avoid.” The novel was named No. 1 on the professional reading list by and for company-level officers, reported “Army” magazine in February 2012.

Berry and Myrer became friends after Berry invited the novelist to an Army football game at West Point in 1975. After Myrer died in 1996, his widow and literary agent, Pat Myrer, gave the Army War College Foundation complete ownership of the book.

Again, massive trawling for information which violates the 4th Amendment.

The U.S. government is quietly pressuring telecommunications providers to install eavesdropping technology deep inside companies’ internal networks to facilitate surveillance efforts.

FBI officials have been sparring with carriers, a process that has on occasion included threats of contempt of court, in a bid to deploy government-provided software capable of intercepting and analyzing entire communications streams. The FBI’s legal position during these discussions is that the software’s real-time interception of metadata is authorized under the Patriot Act.

Attempts by the FBI to install what it internally refers to as “port reader” software, which have not been previously disclosed, were described to CNET in interviews over the last few weeks. One former government official said the software used to be known internally as the “harvesting program.”

Carriers are “extra-cautious” and are resisting installation of the FBI’s port reader software, an industry participant in the discussions said, in part because of the privacy and security risks of unknown surveillance technology operating on an sensitive internal network.

Outrageous: Obama Admin Grants Congress Exemption From Obamacare Provision

The Obama administration has granted members of Congress and their staffers an exemption from a provision of Obamacare that could have cost them thousands of dollars a year in added health insurance costs, according to Politico.

Congress currently allots itself generous health coverage through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program. Nearly 75 percent of premiums are taken care of. But under Obamacare, our representatives and their worker bees will be thrown onto the health care exchanges like millions of Americans – without the FEHB subsidy. Fair is fair, right?

Well, just two days after Obama assured Democratic lawmakers he was on the case – though make no mistake, many Republicans want action too – the administration has ruled that while Congress must hit the exchanges, the subsidy for their insurance will continue.

The Office of Personnel Management, under heavy pressure from Capitol Hill, will issue a ruling that says the government can continue to make a contribution to the health care premiums of members of Congress and their aides, according to several Hill sources.

A White House official confirmed the deal and said the proposed regulations will be issued next week.

The problem was rooted in the original text of the Affordable Care Act. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) inserted a provision which said members of Congress and their aides must be covered by plans “created” by the law or “offered through an exchange.” Until now, OPM had not said if the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program could contribute premium payments toward plans on the exchange. If payments stopped, lawmakers and aides would have faced thousands of dollars in additional premium payments each year. Under the old system, the government contributed nearly 75 percent of premium payments.

Lets break this down: First, lawmakers on the Hill voted for a terrible bill that a majority of people didn't want. Now three years later, those same lawmakers have exempted themselves from Obamacare rate shock in order to save their own wallets while the rest of America suffers from skyrocketing healthcare premiums. Don't worry though, Nancy Pelosi is reassuring everyone that Congress and their staffs will have to enroll in Obamacare exchanges, they just won't be paying for it.

Robert Zimmerman Jr. says his family receives over 400 death threats a minute since the verdict in Florida clearing his brother of murder.

This news comes after Barack Obama stuck his nose into the local murder trial in Florida.

George Zimmerman’s brother today revealed their family receive as many as 400 death threats a minute on social media sites and said he almost got beaten up by two Starbucks’ employees.

Three weeks after his brother was acquitted of all charges relating to the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, Robert Zimmerman reveals for the first time the psychological impact it has had on the family – who live under constant fear and have to keep in touch 24/7.

‘No one has really asked us to get into the psychological aspect of this,’ he said. ‘You don’t know if some one stops you in public and says, “excuse me sir”, you don’t know if you dropped your wallet or if someone recognizes you and wants to kill you.

‘I think the whole ordeal has taught us to rely on one another. But it taxes everyone’s mind, knowing you have to stay in touch and in constant communication because of the threats.’

He told Breitbart about a time when his phone died as he was sleeping when the family got really worried and started looking for him.

After the verdict things got worse for them but their focus is to support each other and ‘doing everything to keep each other alive’.

The Zimmermans have to monitor social media to see if there are any rallies or protests organized to determine if it is safe for them to leave the house.

BREAKING: Obama Dispersing Benghazi Survivors Around US and Changing their Names

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) was on with Greta Van Susteren last night to discuss the Obama scandals. This was after Jake Tapper on CNN broke the news today that there were "dozens" of CIA operatives on the ground in Benghazi on 9-11 when the consulate came under attack. Gowdy told Greta the Obama Administration is hiding the survivors, dispersing them around the country, AND changing their names.
And, at the same time Obama is calling this a 'phony' scandal.

“Including changing names, creating aliases. Stop and think what things are most calculated to get at the truth? Talk to people with first-hand knowledge. What creates the appearance and perhaps the reality of a cover-up? Not letting us talk with people who have the most amount of information, dispersing them around the country and changing their names.”

And, at the same time Obama is hiding the survivors around the country he’s calling Benghazi a ‘phony’ scandal.

Here is CNN reporting that the CIA under Barack Obama is engaging in an unprecedented intimidation effort to keep the facts of the Benghazi Terrorist Attack from ever coming to light. In fact, the CNN report says some CIA operatives who were engaged in the Libya operation are being subjected to monthly polygraph exams to make sure they are remaining silent on what happened.

Why? CNN says they have learned there were actually 35 Americans in Benghazi the night of the attack – 35! At least 21 were working in the CIA annex at the time of the attack. GOP Rep. Frank Wolf says he believes there is a cover-up taking place to keep secret what actually happened that night. He believes those who “were on the ground” there that night should come before Congress and tell the truth about what happened. Wolf has been asking for a Select Committee to get the the bottom of Benghazi – but so far John Boehner has resisted it. Wolf said initially he was being contacted by some on the ground in Benghazi that night, who wanted to be subpeoned to testify. But suddenly they went silent – perhaps a result of the orchestrated intimidation being brought to bear against CIA operatives to keep them from talking.

Toward the end of the report, CNN reporter Drew Griffin talked to Jake Tapper about what the CIA might have been doing that they don’t want revealed. Griffin said there is a lot of speculation that they may have been moving surface-to-air missiles out of Libya through Turkey to arm the Syrian Rebels.

If that turns out to be the case, or whatever the CIA was up to, it is clear there was a major operation taking place there that night. It’s also clear the anti-Islamic “video” had NOTHING to do with the attack, and the President of the United States, the Secretary of State, and the U.N. Ambassador flat-out lied to the American people for weeks after the attack by blaming it on that video.

Smithsonian Wants Trayvon Martin's Hoodie to Display in Museum

The Director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture at the Smithsonian wants to acquire the piece for its collection.

The hooded sweatshirt Trayvon Martin wore the night George Zimmerman shot him to death could end up on display at the Smithsonian Institution.

The shirt became a powerful symbol of the case after Zimmerman described Martin as wearing a "hoodie" the night he killed the teen, claiming self-defense. Protestors across the country wore hoodies in support of Martin as they called for Zimmerman's arrest, prosecution and conviction.

The hoodie is now stored with other evidence from the case at the U.S. Department of Justice, which has opened an investigation into whether Zimmerman violated Martin's civil rights.
But the power and symbolism of the hoodie could be available for legions of visitors to an iconic Washington, D.C., museum.

The director of a new branch of the Smithsonian, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, told the Washington Post he would like the museum to acquire the piece of history for its permanent collection.

"It became the symbolic way to talk about the Trayvon Martin case," Lonnie Bunch told the Post. "It's rare that you get one artifact that really becomes the symbol.

"Because it's such a symbol, it would allow you to talk about race in the age of Obama."

Hannity declared that if Sharpton wants to keep having this fight with him, he's going to continue reminding people of the "history of vitriol" Sharpton has spewed.

Hannity ran a montage of his most vitriolic moments, which Malkin described as "chilling." She also found it striking how so many people, including Republicans, have "kissed the ring of this race charlatan." Obama said that if economic prescriptions of the type he supports to increase economic growth and reduce “income inequality” are not adopted, then race relations in the United State may deteriorate further.

“If we don’t do anything, then growth will be slower than it should be. Unemployment will not go down as fast as it should. Income inequality will continue to rise,” Obama said in an interview published Sunday by the New York Times. “Racial tensions won’t get better; they may get worse, because people will feel as if they’ve got to compete with some other group to get scraps from a shrinking pot. If the economy is growing, everybody feels invested, ” he said.

Obama said Americans in recent decades have lost a sense of security, feeling that a chance at upward mobility is being denied them. He railed against the deficit hawks in the Republican Party, suggesting cuts were being made to quickly and without proper discretion, and that “vital investments” must be preserved.

The president in recent days has suggested he will back massive new spending outlays, including funding for vast programs like infrastructure projects and early childhood education.

Obama vowed to act unilaterally if Congress blocks him.

“I’m not just going to sit back if the only message from some of these folks is no on everything, and sit around and twiddle my thumbs for the next 1,200 days,” he said.
