Michelle Obama: Name Hussein Is 'the fear bomb'

Chicago Tribune

Michelle Obama, who often has decried "the fear bomb'' that opponents have used against her husband for his middle name -- Barack Hussein Obama -- said in Canton, Ohio, today that it is happening again and shows why it's so important that he wins election as president.

"They threw in the obvious, ultimate fear bomb," Obama said today of her husband's 2004 Senate race. "We're even hearing [that] now. … 'When all else fails, be afraid of his name, and what that could stand for, because it's different.'"
The senator's wife said that rivals use innuendo to play on fears. "Just as they're saying it now," she said.

But, she told about 200 supporters this morning at a restored theater in Canton, Obama won despite that "climate of negativity and doubt" in 2004.

"We learned, number one, that when power is threatened by real change they will say anything to stop it," she said. "But we also learned that the American people can handle the truth."

What America needs, she added, is a "fundamentally different kind of leadership," one that challenges people to be different, and better to one another. And that, she said to critics who say it is not his time, cannot wait.

"Barack Obama will be the kind of leader we need right now, not in four years or eight years or 12 years," she said. "We can't wait to get this right. We need it to happen today."

Wild Thing's comment.........

Hmmmmmmm

How about.........Barack FearBomba Obama

Yeah, when people are acting too nervous about “Hussein”, throw the word “bomb” into the mix. LOL She put “Hussein”, “fear” and “bomb” all in the same sentence. hahaha oh my gawd! People’s subconscious minds just went into warp drive!

The fear bomb I have is when he guts the military and gives our nuclear arsenal away. The bomb hussein will then bring to us will be in the form of a mushroom cloud over one of our cities from one of “his muslim” friends.

I can't help it but Michelle Obama reminds me so much of Cynthia McKinney.

Actually, rascist Mrs. Obama, the worst thing for your husband's presidential bid is YOU. The press is throwing him softballs, so why all the self-pity and whining?

Just say, “Hello - my name is Barak Hussein Obama. My middle name is spelled the same as Saddam Hussein. I have chosen to keep it because I am 45% Arab and that is the name I was born with.”

Israel and IDF Prepare For Gaza Incursion

Israel prepares international opinion for assault on Gaza

The Jerusalem Post

As Hamas drew Ashkelon into the circle of communities coming under heavy rocket attacks, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and the Foreign Ministry on Thursday began preparing both Israeli and world opinion for the possibility of a large-scale incursion into Gaza.

Barak, during a series of meetings at the Defense Ministry, said, "We should be prepared for an upswing in hostilities in Gaza. The big ground operation is a reality and it is tangible. We are not eager to embark upon such an operation, but we are not put off by it either."

According to defense sources, the goals of such an operation - reportedly in the planning stages for weeks if not months - would not "merely" be to reduce the threat of rocket fire and rocket manufacturing in the Gaza Strip, but would also likely entail paralyzing the Hamas government's ability to operate, and even include "regime change."

Barak spoke with Quartet envoy Tony Blair and Egyptian intelligence head Omar Suleiman and said Israel could not tolerate the current level of rocket fire in the South without offering a wider response.

And the Foreign Ministry, in talking points sent to its representatives abroad, instructed them to say that when Israel left the Gaza Strip in 2005 it did so without the intention of ever returning, but that the continuation of terrorist attacks was likely to place the country in a position where it may have no other choice.

IDF forces prepare for Gaza incursion

ynet news

Dozens of tanks, artillery battery positioned just north of Gaza to reinforce infantry, engineering corps forces already inside Strip ahead of possible large-scale ground operation. PM returns from Japan, updated on Grad, Qassam rocket attacks on Ashkelon

Over the past few days the IDF has positioned an artillery battery near Kibbutz Beeri, located about three kilometers (1.8 miles) from the Gaza border, and dozens of tanks have made their way to an assembling area just north of the Strip.

Forces from the Givati Brigade, the Armored Corps' 9th Battalion and the Engineering Corps have already entered the Strip ahead of a possible large-scale ground incursion.

The reinforcements, while limited, appear to indicate increased readiness on the part of the IDF.

Meanwhile, during his flight back from Japan Friday morning, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was updated on Thursday's Grad and Qassam rocket attacks on Ashkelon and the western Negev. The political-security cabinet is scheduled to convene Wednesday to discuss the escalation in the south.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Egyptian intelligence chief Omer Suleiman are due in Israel Tuesday.

U.S. Navy ships move closer to Lebanon ( 9 ships )

WASHINGTON (CNN)

The U.S. Navy has moved the guided-missile destroyer USS Cole and other ships to the eastern Mediterranean Sea off Lebanon, Pentagon officials said Thursday.

The deployment comes amid a political standoff over Lebanon's presidency, but the Navy would not say whether the events are linked.

"It's a group of ships that will operate in the vicinity for a while and as the ships in our Navy do, the presence is important," Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Thursday.
"It isn't meant to send any stronger signal than that," he said. "But it does signal that we're engaged and we are going to be in the vicinity, and that's a very important part of the world."

The destroyer and two support ships are close to Lebanon but out of visual range of the coast, Pentagon officials said. Another six vessels, led by the amphibious assault ship USS Nassau, are close to Italy and steaming toward the other three, the officials said.

Mullen would not say whether the deployment has anything to do with the upcoming Lebanese parliamentary vote on a new president, which was postponed for a 15th time earlier this week. But he said the vote was "important," and Washington was waiting for it to take place.

And a Bush administration official told CNN the decision to move ships to the region was a message to neighboringSyria that "the U.S. is concerned about the situation in Lebanon, and we want to see the situation resolved."

"We are sending a clear message for the need for stability," said the official, who was not authorized to speak for publication. The ships "should be there a while," the official added.

...... And this........

BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) — Hezbollah on Friday rejected the deployment of U.S. warships off Lebanon, calling it a threat to the country that will not affect the militant group.

"We are facing an American threat against Lebanon," Hezbollah legislator Hassan Fadlallah said. "It is clear this threat and intimidation will not affect us."

Wild Thing's comment........

I was wondering why CNN would let out about our ships, then I realized that if we didn't want anyone to know they wouldn't know. It seems they want this to be public for a reason, its a show of force. It would be a safe bet that there is stuff going on in the background that we don't know about. This is way too major a move just to act as a show of force for Lebanese domestic politics. We'll just have to wait and see.

Enough with the world opinion I am tired of having to consult with the world about anything. Israel’s only giving the world a chance to restrain them. Just do what you gotta go & let the world scream afterwards, when there’s nothing they can do about it anymore.

This is actually quite serious. First of all, the Russians have 3 ships to the north at the Syrian port. Its something to consider.

Second, Israel is going to put the hurt on in Gaza.

Clearly, these ships are there as a deterrent to prevent Hezbullah from opening up a second front while Israel mops up Hamas in Gaza. But, Iran may have no choice. We (US, Israel, NATO to a degree) are going to systematically remove Iran’s chips from the ches board.

Israel is going to wipe out Hamas maybe not sure. If so in return, Iran almost has to activate Hezbullah to open fire. That is when the US will be ready to pound them, or Israel will pound them. If not, then Iran loses Hamas and is left only with Hezbullah, who will get pounded later.

The wildcard is Russia.

Just some thoughts on this of course I have no idea.

The main thing ......prayers for our troops and the IDF, and for America and Israel.

McCain's Verbal Slip

Wild Thing's comment.......

It is funny, except for one thing. I resent McCain calling himself a conservative. He is NOT a conservative, a registered Republican yes, but in no way is he a Conservative. He has NOT earned that right!

This is the well know incident between William Buckley and Gore Vidal that occurred during ABC's coverage of the 1968 Democratic convention in Chicago.

Oh Please Help Me MARINE Says Code Pink?

Eamon Kelley, the young Marine who is featured in Move America Forward's TV commercial ( I posted it here) that ran on Fox News earlier this week, spent his day today in Berkeley, Calif. in front of the Marine recruiting offices.

CodePink has set up a virtual blockade at the recruiting center, expanding it's efforts to harass our troops and turn back young Americans looking to enlist.

Eamon, who is recovering from back surgery, gutted it out under blazing skies in the boycotted town. After spending four hours there the Marine Eamon Kelley sent an email to Melanie Morgan (Move America Forward):

"While we were at the protest in Berkeley from 12 to 4 PM a white volvo drove by and a man spat upon code pink. They chased him down the street and got into a verbal altercation. The police were NO WHERE in sight. That's not the best part, ready for this? Medea Benjamin yelled and I quote "Marines!" she actually yelled for our help because this man had stepped out of his car. Lol. I even asked her if she was yelling Police and she told me "I said Marines" then put her arm around my friend Allen (the Marine vet) Ironic? Ok back to the emails!! "

Wild Thing's comment........

LOL this is hilarious, what a thing to happen. Of course she will go right back to her bashing of the Marines, but to anyone that saw this happen I bet their jaws dropped. Medea Benjamin is one of the four founders of Code Pink. She is also a communist and here she was calling out for one of American's finest. That takes a hell of a lot of nerve! I can't stand her!

.....Thank you Mark for the heads up about this story.

Code Pink A Group For Mental Midgets To Feel Accepted

Code pink calls all United States Marines war criminals. They also claim al qaeda is not a threat to the United States and that World War two was "wrong."

Wild Thing's comment........

I heard one of the City Council members on a radio show saying the same exact things. I just want to know something. Why oh why can't we bring back punishment for treason!!!!

Just thinking about Hawaii and what they said about we should not have had our military there has me thinking about Hawaii. My parents took me there my first time, it was awesome. Then I went again 8 more times when Nick worked on Magnum PI. It meant even more to go there as an adult. The time Nick had off from his work we went to the Memorials and those memories will stay with me forever.

When Pearl Harbor was attacked my Aunt and Uncle were on the Island. He was a Col. in the Army and when they came home they told the family how it was when the attack on Pearl Harbor happened. Years later when I was born they shared with me about it as well.

I am just so proud of our troops, our Veterans and to have anyone attacking any of them like they are doing to the Marine Corps is something that in my opinion needs to be dealt with as harshly as possible. This kind of thing is not only unacceptable but is treasonous. OK so I kept my comment clean but I am thinking a lot of the F word with these peoople!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the things City Council member said:
She agrees with Code Pink
She wants the Marines to "get the hell out of Berkeley"
She said our military is nothing but rapists and murderers
She wants to bring home the troops from Iraq and Afghanistan
She wants to down size our military in half after this next election and then downsize it again every 4 months till we no longer have a military.

She was asked you mean you don't want a military at all? She said that is what I am saying.

Rino Rove: Don't "Hussein" Obama

Rove: Don't "Hussein" Obama

The Atlantic

No less an authority figure than Karl Rove has warned Republican operatives from demagoguing Barack Obama's middle name.

At a closed door meeting of GOP state executive directors in late January, Rove said the safest way to refer to Obama would be to use his honorific, "Sen. Obama."

"The context was, you're not going to stimatize this guy. You shouldn't underestimate him," one of the executive directors said. Rove said that the use of "Barack Hussein Obama" would perpetuate the notion that Republicans were bigoted and would hurt the party.

Rove also said that Republicans should refer to Hillary Clinton as "Sen. Clinton," rather than "Hillary."

Right wing figures are set to ignore Rove's advice. Rush Limbaugh used Obama's middle name more than a year ago, and Ann Coulter regularly uses the middle name, once calling him "President Hussein."

Wild Thing's comment.........

Hasn’t Rove done enough to wreck the Republican party?

Rove you rino you there is no way I will stop calling him B. Hussein Obama and Hillary, Hillary. Nope no way. If Obama is so offended by his own middle name he should get it changed.

I hope I can explain how I feel so strongly about this. I understand what Rove is saying, I do. But for too long we have given in to the left. All the way back to the Vietnam War we have seen how the left has mocked, slandered and lied about our military and their missions and battles. The PC thing was brought to us by the left and demanded of us by the left to the point where it effects even advertising, work places, and even simple conversations.

It has been the Republican politicians that use the term 'friend' when talking with a Democrat on political talk shows, NOT the other way around. Why! Why Kiss up to them, it only makes a person look weak, because they have been weak. I am not asking our politicans to be mean, but for God sake stop kissing up to the left. Stand strong and show we conservatives mean business.

The rino's are not the ones that fight for securing our borders, the rino's are not the ones that were our Founding Fathers. The rino's are nothing more then Dem lite! It is the conservative that ends up cleaning up after the rino's and dems, the conservartive that see's how important it is to fight back, to take a stand when others have apathy.

Without the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, Kerry would probably be President today. The Swiftboat Vets won 2004 for Bush, not ROVE.

Rove is a legend in his own mind. Bush entered office with a Rep controlled Congress. He is leaving with a Dem controlled Congress and a GOP in disarray thanks to appointing folks like Martinez as RNC chairman and trying to push amnesty down our throats. Karl Rove has been a disaster for the GOP and conservatives in particular.

Maybe Rove, McCain and his buddy Lindsey Graham should stop calling those of us who are against amnesty as nativists, racists, and bigots. Rove was the one that had President Bush talk about his immigration “guest worker” program during 06....He kept saying it until the base was thoroughly fed up and stayed home.

So I say NO way Rove, take your opinions elsewhere. I am a Conservative and I am fed up with our being told to give in to the left and to the rino belief's and thinking.

The only way Conservatism dies is if all Americans cease to remember the philosophy and the ideas on which this country was founded.

So leave us alone Rove and Shut up!

.

And this from Rush:

"RUSH:… Okay, so his name is off limits, can't use Hussein. You can't call him a liberal. What other fact about Obama are we not going to be allowed to talk about? That's right, can't talk about his ears, either, because when Maureen Dowd made some comment about his ears, he went straight into the crowd and said, "I'm very sensitive about my ears." She said, "We're trying to toughen you up." Well, it hasn't worked. Can't use the name Hussein, can't call him a liberal, and this is the kind of thing -- look, it's brilliant on Obama's part. He's setting the rules, and everybody's going to abide by them. Republican National Committee, "Okay, we can't call him a liberal because he's going to tear into us, we don't want him tearing into us." Well, I don't know how you're going to characterize his policies if you don't call him a liberal. And, by the way, what's so bad about being a liberal? How come none of these liberals want to be called liberals?

See, Obama's no different than any of the rest of them, folks. No different at all. Nothing new here. The only thing new is the Democrats have now made it official that their guiding principle is "America sucks." But they have to mask who they are, they have to disguise themselves, camouflage themselves, whatever, you call them a liberal, and it's a personal attack. So Obama's now said liberal is off limits, can't do it. What will Republicans do? I can't believe that somebody's name is off limits. I just don't believe it. "

'Thousands of Aliens' in U.S. Flight Schools Illegally

9/11 Redux: 'Thousands of Aliens' in U.S. Flight Schools Illegally

ABC news

Thousands of foreign student pilots have been able to enroll and obtain pilot licenses from U.S. flight schools, despite tough laws passed in the wake of the 9/ll attacks, according to internal government documents obtained by ABC News.

"Some of the very same conditions that allowed the 9-11 tragedy to happen in the first place are still very much in existence today," wrote one regional security official to his boss at the TSA, the Transportation Security Administration.
"Thousands of aliens, some of whom may very well pose a threat to this country, are taking flight lessons, being granted FAA certifications and are flying planes," wrote the TSA official, Richard A. Horn, in 2005, complaining that the students did not have the proper visas.

Under the new laws, American flight schools are only supposed to provide pilot training to foreign students who have been given a background check by the TSA and have a specific type of visa.

But in thousands of cases that has not happened, according to the documents and current and former government officials involved in the program.

"TSA's enforcement is basically nonexistent," said former FAA inspector Bill McNease, in an interview for ABC News' "World News With Charles Gibson."

McNease, who retired last year, says in one year alone, 2005, he found some 8,000 foreign students in the FAA database who got their pilot licenses without ever being approved by the TSA.

"And a flight school wants the money to teach 'em. And they are gonna teach 'em how to fly and get their ratings, and then they just slip through the cracks," McNease said.
In another internal e-mail obtained by ABC News, Monty Thompson, an official in the TSA Flight School Inspections section, complained in 2005 to his bosses in Washington, "I fear we are 'danger close' to losing sight of the mission and the intent of the 'Flight School Security' provisions."

The new laws were passed after it was learned that all of the 9/ll hijackers, including ringleader Mohammed Atta, who were involved in flight operations had trained at U.S. flight schools with improper visas.

The FAA and Homeland Security are now starting to crack down on a number of flight schools suspected of training students illegally.

Just last month, agents raided a flight school outside San Diego, Anglo-American Aviation International, as part of an investigation of alleged fraud and misuse of visas.

A lawyer for the school said the raid only involved a technical, paper-work issue and that the school was "cooperating" in the investigation.

But federal officials say the so-called paper-work is extremely important.

"What happened in 9/ll we don't want to happen again or anything like that so something has to be done," said McNease.

No one from the TSA or Homeland Security would agree to be interviewed for this story, but officials said they were preparing an official statement in response.

The Department of Homeland Security would not provide an official from the flight school program to be interviewed for this story.

In a statement, the DHS said, "We have a high degree of confidence that our layered security measures, both seen and unseen, have raised the level of security in our aviation sector."

The statement did not address the issue of the thousands of students who have received pilot training and licenses with improper visas, other than to say they "are only one of the multiple layers of security" that the government relies on to "ensure that foreign nationals approved for flight training do not pose a threat to U.S. aviation security." The DHS said it conducts security threat assessments "on all non-U.S. citizens seeking flight training."

You can read a letter from Aviation Safety Inspector Edward H. Blount on foreign students in U.S. flight schools.

Wild Thing's comment........

Have we forgotten?? Apparently so!

There is no excuse for this. I am so sick of this incompetence. Staggering incompetence combined with a denial of the threat we face. ....a suicidal combo.

Islamic Links on Obama Web Site Stir Criticism

We see this look of Obama's a lot, especially during the debates.

Islamic Links on Obama Web Site Stir Criticism
By Fred Lucas
CNSNews.com

A page for Muslim supporters of Sen. Barack Obama -- hosted on Obama's presidential campaign Web site -- promotes events sponsored by controversial Islamic groups.

Muslim Americans for Obama '08, found on Obama's main campaign site, allows users to create their own page through a "My Obama" option. The Muslim Americans for Obama page also links to a Web site that features lectures by people who have expressed radical Islamic views in the past.

A portion of the "Muslim Americans for Obama" page lists proposals to establish a Muslim American advisory group on U.S. foreign policy; provide prayer areas in public places such as malls, airports, universities and government buildings; institute a law to allow Muslim employees to take time from their work day for prayer; and institute a law against harassment of Muslim women in public areas.

The Obama campaign's press office did not respond to numerous phone calls and e-mail messages from Cybercast News Service on this matter.

Throughout the campaign, Obama has professed his Christian faith, although his father is a Muslim.

Late last year, former Nebraska Sen. Bob Kerrey, a supporter of Obama's Democratic rival New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, caused a stir in Iowa when he said, "It's probably not something that appeals to him, but I like the fact that his name is Barack Hussein Obama, and that his father was a Muslim and that his paternal grandmother is a Muslim."

"Muslim Americans for Obama '08 is a grassroots initiative to support the presidential campaign for Barack Obama 2008," the Web page says. "Our sincere intention is to serve as a resource for Muslim and non-Muslim Americans to get involved and learn more about the political process and Barack Obama as a person and presidential candidate."

Other "My Obama" pages on the campaign's Web site include "Jews for Obama," "Christians for Obama" and "Gay Christians for Obama."

But it is a link and a list of events on the Muslim Americans for Obama page that has prompted critics that consider themselves watchdogs of Islamist groups to take notice.

The list of events on the Muslim Americans for Obama page includes voter registration drives at conventions sponsored by the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), held last April and August in Rosemont, Ill., and the convention co-sponsored by the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) and the Muslim American Society (MAS).

These groups routinely inject themselves into political causes, said M. Zhudi Jasser, chairman of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy. He thinks all political candidates should stay clear of mixing religion and politics, saying the root of terror is political Islam.

"Any candidate that engaged American Islamist organizations without any ideological litmus test about their stances regarding the transnational goals of Islamism, I think that is going to be a major liability," Jasser, a Muslim, told Cybercast News Service.

I wouldn't specifically say Obama. I would say any candidate that doesn't identify that Muslim organizations should be leading the effort against political Islam and its impact on the ends of that terrorists seek. I think it will be a liability," he said.

The MAS has faced intense scrutiny in recent years.

In the appeal of Sabri Benkhala, a man convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice last year after being acquitted of trying to help the Taliban, the U.S. attorney's office for the Eastern District of Virginia filed a brief that referenced to MAS as an "overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood for the United States."

The Muslim Brotherhood is a militant Islamic group in Egypt. The government has not brought any charges against MAS.

"We are an American Muslim organization, and we don't take orders from anybody oversees," MAS Executive Director Mahdi Bray told Cybercast News Service. "We were established in America, and we are not an overt or covert arm of the Muslim Brotherhood."

In 2004, after the Israeli military killed Hamas spiritual leader Ahmed Yassin, the MAS Freedom Foundation announced it would push Congress to enforce provisions of the U.S. Arms Export Control Act against Israel, which forbids the use of U.S. weapons from being used against civilian targets.

Jasser was also concerned that the Muslim Americans for Obama site contained a "Qaran (Audio) English Translation." Clicking on that brings a user to the Web site "The Sounds of Islam." At this site users can listen to numerous lectures regarding Islam, including those from people who have expressed radical views in the past.

One of the more controversial lecturers on the site is the Islamic preacher Yusuf Al Qaradawi, who has advocated suicide bombings.

"Allah Almighty is just; through his infinite wisdom he has given the weak a weapon the strong do not have and that is their ability to turn their bodies into bombs as Palestinians do," the BBC quoted him as saying.

The "Sounds of Islam" site also includes lectures by Abdul Rahman Al Sudais, the chief cleric of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, who has used inflammatory rhetoric against people of different faiths.

The BBC quoted him as saying, "The worst ... of the enemies of Islam are those ... whom he ... made monkeys and pigs, the aggressive Jews and oppressive Zionists and those that follow them: the callers of the trinity and the cross worshippers ... those influenced by the rottenness of their ideas, and the poison of their cultures the followers of secularism .... How can we talk sweetly when the Hindus and the idol worshippers indulge in their overwhelming hatred against our brothers."

Jasser said it's not a stretch to show concern about such a link on the pro-Obama site.

Wild Thing's comment........

These illegitimates want to just walk right into this country, have it handed to them on a silver platter, and change it to a sharia-ruled dictatorship. Nice. No blood shed.
That’s what will happen if Obama OR Hillary wins.

Obama’s a closet Muslim. If he’d really converted to Christianity, he’d have been denounced as an apostate and a fatwa would be out against him. The lack of a denunciation and a fatwa, combined with his ardent support by Muslims, show he’s actually still a Muslim.

Some more about the Muslim American Society: one of the groups listed in the events section on the Obama site:

“The list of events on the Muslim Americans for Obama page includes voter registration drives at conventions sponsored by the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), held last April and August in Rosemont, Ill., and the convention co-sponsored by the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) and the MUSLIM AMERICAN SOCIETY (MAS). “

Cindy Sheahan resurfaced in Cairo last week as a member of a delegation from the MUSLIM AMERICAN SOCIETY which is in Egypt to protest against the military trial of 40 members of the banned Muslim Brotherhood”

Harvard University Caves In To Muslim Students Wanting Women-only Gym Time

To accommodate Muslim students, Harvard tries women-only gym hours

The Daily Free Press at Boston University

Harvard University has moved to make Muslim women more comfortable in the gym by instituting women-only access times six hours a week to accommodate religious customs that make it difficult for some students to work out in the presence of men.

Men have not been allowed to enter the Quadrangle Recreational Athletic Center during certain times since Jan. 28, after members of the Harvard Islamic Society and the Harvard Women's Center petitioned the university for a more comfortable environment for women.

Harvard Islamic Society's Islamic Knowledge Committee officer Ola Aljawhary, a junior, said the women-only hours are being tested on a trial basis. The special gym hours will be analyzed over Spring Break to determine if they will continue, she said.

Aljawhary said that she does not believe that the women-only gym hours discriminate against men.

"These hours are necessary because there is a segment of the Harvard female population that is not found in gyms not because they don't want to work out, but because for them working out in a co-ed gym is uncomfortable, awkward or problematic in some way," she said.

Though the policy was in part initiated by the school's Islamic group, Aljawhary said women-only hours are not a case of "minority rights trumping majority preference" and said women of different faiths have showed interest in the hours.

"We live together in one community, it only makes sense for everyone to compromise slightly in order for everyone to live happily," she said. "This matter is simple: Can't we just display basic decency and show tolerance and inclusion for people not a part of the mainstream majority?"

Harvard junior Nick Wells said he believes the women-only hours are inconvenient for the residents that live near the facility and discriminate against men.

"It is unfair to impose a stringent policy that inhibits students from using their own facility in order to further a useless policy that doesn't have any real effect," he said.
"I don't mind that Harvard is trying to give space to women and religious minorities, it's just that it seems that it's not making a real effort," Wells said. "Just one that is impractical and purely symbolic at the cost of people like myself."

Wells lives near the Quad, and said the response to and use of the women-only gym hours so far has been underwhelming.

Harvard freshman Kyle Harasimowicz said women-only gyms have been successful and women-only gym hours fill the same need.

"I guess as long as the time is divvied up fairly, there should be no issue," he said.

Boston University Islamic Society President Mohamed Serageldin said he thinks women-only gym hours would benefit Muslim women at BU.

"Because the FitRec is co-ed, a Muslim woman would most likely be compromising her modesty. He said modesty can be compromised on both the part of the man and the woman when physical action is involved."

BU's Fitness and Recreation Center facilities manager Alex Southall said FitRec's design easily accommodates sectioning off areas for groups.

"It depends on the arrangement with the particular group, so we aren't playing favorites with space, but the FitRec does have the capability to section off for special use," he said.

Good Grief! If they can't blend in with our culture, they can go home. When is America going to wake up and stop all this PC BS. Isn’t this what happened in the UK....and the slowly Sharia Law is beginning to take over.

These pandering fools should be reminded THIS IS AMERICA. It is NOT a Muslim country. They came here to live, in our country. That means they abide by our rules, laws and customs. In other words, assimilate.

For a moment, let’s assume the a Christian organization asked Harvard University to prohibit women from using a University gym during certain hours so that men could have it for themselves. Their argument is that their religious feelings made co-ed work-outs uncomfortable for men. Do you think women’s groups at Harvard would accede without protest and (2) that Harvard would grant the request? Not likely!

The thing is our freedoms and hard won rights are eroded in very small increments, and that the strategy of Islamists and their sympathizers is to do just that!!

William F. Buckley Jr. (1925-2008)

William F. Buckley Jr. Is Dead at 82

"Liberals, it has been said, are generous with other peoples' money, except when it comes to questions of national survival when they prefer to be generous with other people's freedom and security. "
~ William F. Buckley, Jr.

.

.

William F. Buckley Jr., who marshaled polysyllabic exuberance, famously arched eyebrows and a refined, perspicacious mind to elevate conservatism to the center of American political discourse, died Wednesday at his home in Stamford, Conn.

Mr Buckley, 82, suffered from diabetes and emphysema, his son Christopher said, although the exact cause of death was not immediately known. He was found at his desk in the study of his home, his son said. “He might have been working on a column,” Mr. Buckley said.

Mr. Buckley’s winningly capricious personality, replete with ten-dollar words and a darting tongue writers loved to compare with an anteater’s, hosted one of television’s longest-running programs, “Firing Line,” and founded and shepherded the influential conservative magazine, National Review.

He also found time to write more than 45 books, ranging from sailing odysseys to spy novels to celebrations of his own dashing daily life, and edit five more.

The more than 4.5 million words of his 5,600 biweekly newspaper columns, “On the Right,” would fill 45 more medium-sized books.

Mr. Buckley’s greatest achievement was making conservatism — not just electoral Republicanism, but conservatism as a system of ideas — respectable in liberal post-World War II America. He mobilized the young enthusiasts who helped nominate Barry Goldwater in 1964, and saw his dreams fulfilled when Reagan and the Bushes captured the Oval Office.

To Mr. Buckley’s enormous delight, Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr., the historian, termed him “the scourge of liberalism.”

In remarks at National Review’s 30th anniversary in 1985, President Reagan joked that he picked up his first issue of the magazine in a plain brown wrapper and still anxiously awaited his biweekly edition — “without the wrapper.”

“You didn’t just part the Red Sea — you rolled it back, dried it up and left exposed, for all the world to see, the naked desert that is statism,” Mr. Reagan said.
“And then, as if that weren’t enough,” the president continued, “you gave the world something different, something in its weariness it desperately needed, the sound of laughter and the sight of the rich, green uplands of freedom.”

The liberal advance had begun with the New Deal, and so accelerated in the next generation that Lionel Trilling, one of America’s leading intellectuals, wrote in 1950:

“In the United States at this time liberalism is not only the dominant but even the sole intellectual tradition. For it is the plain fact that there are no conservative or reactionary ideas in general circulation.”

Mr. Buckley declared war on this liberal order, beginning with his blistering assault on Yale as a traitorous den of atheistic collectivism immediately after his graduation (with honors) from the university.

“All great biblical stories begin with Genesis,” George Will wrote in the National Review in 1980. “And before there was Ronald Reagan, there was Barry Goldwater, and before there was Barry Goldwater there was National Review, and before there was National Review there was Bill Buckley with a spark in his mind, and the spark in 1980 has become a conflagration.”

Mr. Buckley weaved the tapestry of what became the new American conservatism from libertarian writers like Max Eastman, free market economists like Milton Friedman, traditionalist scholars like Russell Kirk and anti-Communist writers like Whittaker Chambers. But the persuasiveness of his argument hinged not on these perhaps arcane sources, but on his own tightly argued case for a conservatism based on the national interest and a higher morality.

His most receptive audience became young conservatives first energized by Barry Goldwater’s emergence at the Republican convention in 1960 as the right-wing alternative to Nixon. Some met in Sept., 1960, at Mr. Buckley’s Connecticut estate to form Young Americans for Freedom. Their numbers — and influence — grew.

Nicholas Lemann observed in Washington Monthly in 1988 that during the Reagan administration “the 5,000 middle-level officials, journalists and policy intellectuals that it takes to run a government” were “deeply influenced by Buckley’s example.” He suggested that neither moderate Washington insiders nor “Ed Meese-style provincial conservatives” could have pulled off the Reagan tax cut and other reforms.

Wild Thing's comment........

This is truly a loss for our society and our Country. Mr. Buckley was one of the most intelligent and erudite defenders of conservative philosophy. Rest in peace Mr Buckley, you will be sorely missed.

He's the guy that got me thru the 60's and 70's when every other political pundit seemed, well, obviously insane. For about 30 years, he carried the conservative movement on his broad shoulders.

Things don't look really good for conservatism now. But compared to when he wrote "God and Man at Yale," we are light years further along--largely because of his efforts. He had the courage to stand up and be the ONLY non-big-government, non-Keynesian in the room and to do it with wit and charm. And, the courage to keep doing it for years on end.

The Earth’s loss is Heaven’s gain.

Black Hillary Supporters May Be Receiving Death Threats

Black Hillary Supporters May Be Receiving Death Threats

American Thinker
By Marc Sheppard

There's mounting evidence that at least some of Obama's faithful intend to see a black American president sworn in next year -- no matter what it takes.

Earlier this month, popular black author and talk-show host Tavis Smiley disclosed death threats he'd received from those accusing him of blasphemy against their black prophet. Then, at Saturday's Smiley-hosted State of the Black Union forum, Congressional Black Caucus member Stephanie Tubbs Jones lent credence to Smiley's claim by suggesting that many black elected officials not swearing allegiance to Obama have also been the target of violent threats.

While widely ignored by the mainstream media, the implications here are nothing short of momentous. The very prospect of physical intimidation as a means of garnering political compliance from Americans awakens frightening images of the thuggish antics of one William M "Boss" Tweed in mid-nineteenth century New York. Having survived the 2000 election debacle without even the threat of bloodshed, would some now have us back on the road to the iniquitous days of Tammany Hall?

Not surprisingly, no one in the black community has come forward with specific complaints. But here's what we do know.

For nine years running, Smiley has hosted the annual symposium of black college professors, politicians, activists, and entertainers during Black History Month discussing matters of concern to those whose heritage the month honors. This year, Barack Obama declined an invitation -- accepted by Clinton -- to address the panel of black dignitaries in New Orleans. The Illinois senator and presidential hopeful's unexpected rejection prompted a disappointed Smiley to blast the decision as a "major mistake," and that's when the trouble allegedly began.

The perceived racial apostasy apparently sparked not only thousands of angry emails labeling Smiley as a "hater, sellout and traitor," but also the relentless harassment of his entire family. And, while he has yet to elaborate, Smiley has also mentioned the matter of death threats - levied for the mere suggestion that the mighty Obama had somehow erred.

Needless to say, this newfound esteem wouldn't help sell standing room tickets to Saturday's historically well-attended seminar.

DC congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton Ohio Democrat spoke with equal earnest of a darker truth hanging over black Clinton supporters:

"There are some black elected officials who have earned their stripes, who've had to change their phone numbers two or three times because of the calls being made to them about the positions they are taking in this election. Shame on us. Shame on us. That we would beat down black elected officials who've paid their duty and their time.

"I'm saying to you that I don't care what happens, I'm for Hillary, someone else is for Barack Obama, but we're going to stand up - the black caucus is the conscience of the nation and we're going to stand up and do our thing no matter what happens."

Louisiana State Senator Cleo Fields was so distressed by the very thought as to warn that he would:

"be disappointed and would be ready to fight if somebody raised a finger at this sister [Tubbs] who had worked so hard for so long and had been representing black people better than most people could ever dream of."

It was then that Tavis Smiley, himself, grasped the opportunity to address his own first hand experience of this darker side of Obamamania, the one we've previously explored with much concern:

"Some folk [are] getting death threats because of the emotionality and the excitement and the lack of wise enthusiasm that we see rampant in our community.... How can we have a conversation about this campaign or any other issue where we are divided in the community without the kind of name calling, the hater talk, the traitor talk; the sell out talk? .... How do we have a civil, loving dialogue when there is a divide in our community?"

Good questions.

But in the shadow of possible death threats waged against blacks for even speaking against Obama -- I have a much better one.

Marc Sheppard is a frequent contributor to American Thinker.

Wild Thing's comment........

Going even further then this story, I would imagine if Obama does not win there will be a certain amount of backlash as well. Some of these people for Obama are obviously not well the way they are worshiping him, fainting, turning his rallies and speaking engagements into some kind of cult experience.

There is something I have realized, I never knew it before. I listen to a lot of talk radio and on several of the shows they were talking about the speech that Michelle Obama had made. The one about it being the first time as an adult she is proud of America / to be an American.

The hosts of the various shows asked callers if they felt the same way. Each one that was calling and voting for Obama said basically the exact same thing. They feel the same way that Michelle Obama said she felt. When asked by the talk show host " but what about Condi Rice and Clarence Thomas they are also black." The callers would say ( and these were blacks calling in,) they all said NO that Condi and Clarence Thomas were only like them as far as skin color but they" were negro's not blacks" and they ( Condi and Clarence etc.) only cared about themselves that they were selfish people.

The callers were then asked if these people were liberals, Democrats would it make them black then and the callers every one of them said yes.

Amazing! I am uncomfortable with so much hate I just don't understand it at all. How can a person live in the greatest country in the world and not be proud of America and being an American.

"Dividing Israel doesn't make me anti-Israel" ` B.Hussein Obama

Obama: Dividing Israel doesn't make me anti-Israel

Israel Today

US presidential hopeful Barrack Obama on Sunday insisted that just because he tends to side with those who advocate dividing the Land of Israel as the most viable path to peace does not mean that he is an enemy of the Jewish state.

Speaking to Jewish leaders in Cleveland, the Illinois senator complained that "there is a strain within the pro-Israel community that says unless you adopt a unwavering pro-Likud approach to Israel that you're anti-Israel."

Israel's opposition Likud Party and its supporters promote minimal or no territorial compromises in the quest for peace with an Arab world that has tried to militarily destroy the Jewish state at least three different times.

But, according to Obama, backing the Jews' biblical, historical and legal claim to all of the land in question "can't be the measure of our friendship with Israel."

Nor can supporting the view that only by defeating its Islamic foes can Israel enjoy any semblence of peace and security, continued the Democratic frontrunner.

As his popularity grows, Mr. Obama has come under scathing attack from supporters of the Jewish state for turning to advisors who have in the past expressed anti-Israel opinions.

Wild Thing's comment........

B.Hussein Obama may not be the anti-Christ but he is close enough! God have mercy on Israel and on America if he becomes President.

But, according to Obama, backing the Jews' biblical, historical and legal claim to all of the land in question "can't be the measure of our friendship with Israel."

Translation: I would divide Jerusalem and force Jews to leave their homes in Judea and Samaria.

Nor can supporting the view that only by defeating its Islamic foes can Israel enjoy any semblence of peace and security, continued the Democratic frontrunner.

Translation: I would force Israel to give up its nukes, and take away most or all of the weapons the US gives to Israel.

Here is how Mohammed wants to divide the Jew:

Sura (5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement"

Sura (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them"

Bukhari (52:177) - Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."

Tabari 7:97 The morning after the murder of Ashraf, the Prophet declared, "Kill any Jew who falls under your power."

We ask and they respond

They give up everything.

Home.

Family.

Comfort.

Life.

Why?

Attacked by demonstrators.

Attacked by media.

Vilified by spurious claims.

Crucified at every turn.

Why do they do it?

Maybe

Just maybe

It's because they truly are

The best of us.

Let us all remember that the next time we read the headlines that say otherwise.

Never Forget

Vietnam Veteran Back In War Zone

1st Sgt James "Grumpy" Spears

washington times

CAMP WRIGHT, Afghanistan

Shot down over Vietnam on his first tour of duty in 1972, 1st Sgt. James Spears is back in the U.S. Army — one of hundreds of retired soldiers whom the Pentagon has ordered to suit up and serve the nation once more.

"If you cut me, I"d probably bleed Army green, but this is definitely my last deployment" said the 54-year-old veteran, who is better known to his fellow soldiers as "Grumpy."

Sgt. Spears said he did not expect to end up in a war zone dodging bullets and rockets, and that such business should be the work of younger warriors.

Retired in 1995 after 24 years in the Army, Sgt. Spears felt the call of duty after watching the World Trade Center's Twin Towers crumble in 2001 and picked up the phone just to let the Army know he was there if he was ever needed.

"I guess they put my name on a list somewhere, but, for the life of me, I didn't really expect them to call me back to service," he said. But in 2005, the Defense Department rang his home number in Daleville, Ala.
"A Pentagon colonel told me that I could come back now or, if I did not act then, she wouldn't give me a choice as to where I was deployed." With mixed feelings, Sgt. Spears called her back an hour later.

Now, while he often longs for the golf course, Sgt. Spears finds himself in a mentoring role to some 80 soldiers, struggling to keep them working together smoothly.

As the "human resources manager" for NATO and the Army"s 173rd Airborne Brigade"s Provincial Reconstruction Team in Kunar Province, Sgt. Spears keeps the soldiers in line with stentorian growls across the mess hall and quiet, reassuring chats in his quarters.

Just knowing there is a veteran of the Vietnam War, a far bloodier conflict than those being fought in Afghanistan and Iraq, is reassuring to some of the young soldiers who seek his advice.

But Sgt. Spears said he worries as would a father about the strains caused by the lengthy military deployments in both theaters.

"In general, we have excellent morale, but the Army is definitely overstretched and undermanned here in Afghanistan," he said. "I'm really afraid that some guys and girls will snap. I've seen it already — people with severe combat-related stress."

Sgt. Spears has two sons who joined the Army and one who served two tours as a helicopter crew chief in Iraq.

He said his wife of 32 years, Sherry, had only one piece of advice for him when he deployed last year: "Keep your head down, Grumpy."

A soldier's life hasn't changed much since Vietnam, but there aren't any easy comparisons between the two wars, Sgt. Spears said.

"I'm not sure this is an ideologically driven war in the respect that Vietnam was pretty much communism against capitalism," he said. "But even there, you had an enemy that would show their face and occasionally fight in real uniforms."

Sgt. Spears pointed toward a ridgeline and noted that Kunar province sits across only a couple of mountain ridges from Pakistan, where the September 11, 2001, mastermind, Osama bin Laden, is thought to be hiding.

"I can't tell you why they haven't caught him with all their gee-whiz toys," he said. "But I don't believe in conspiracies either, like we have him in a box somewhere."

Wild Thing's comment........

I love the stogy!

Thank you Sgt. Spears and all the other Military, even just one of them is worth more than the 534 dummies in Congress.

The Left Offers Obama a Strategy...But LOOK Who It is?

Tom Hayden,'60's icon, Leader of the student movement, the anti-war movement and activist in the civil rights movement seen here after arriving in Castlegar July 6, 2006 where he'll speak at the "Our Way Home Reuion" conference being held in Castlgar, B.C.

The Left Offers Obama a Strategy

Frontpage Magazine

What is Barack Obama’s foreign policy? As it becomes clear that Obama is likely to win the Democratic nomination, both Hillary Clinton and John McCain are attacking him for a lack of foreign policy experience and for proposals he has made that appear to make him appear rather naïve. Is he going to retreat from confronting our nation’s enemies, or is he going to be tough when he has to be? What advice will he heed? Now, he has been offered advice for his campaign by none other than Tom Hayden, once the young lion of the New Left and the anti-Vietnam War movement.

Tom Hayden is, of course, no longer a major public figure with great influence. His words, however, resonate with scores of activists as well as liberal intellectuals, who will take them to heart and seek to up the ante on the Obama campaign. Hayden, who clearly views Iraq as another Vietnam, is seeking to move Obama to adopt the prescriptions of the most left-wing sectors of the Democratic Party constituency.

Pointing to Obama’s victory speech in Houston last week, Hayden has noted that Obama has shifted his position, to one of calling for withdrawal of all American troops in the first year of his administration, not over a lengthier time span. Does Obama mean it? Hayden has one suggestion: the Left and antiwar forces must hold Obama to his word. More importantly, he argues that sentiment among Obama’s base “is running strongly enough to push the candidate forward to a stronger commitment,” strong enough to move him away from the words in his 2006 book The Audacity of Hope, in which Obama wrote that a complete withdrawal was a matter of “imperfect judgment” and “best guesses.”

It is clear from Mr. Hayden that his supposition - and that of the Left he represents - (his comments appear in The Nation magazine website) believe that the United States should not be involved on a “so-called war on terrorism,” a phony concept developed by evil and strong neoconservatives who falsely believe there is something called “Islamofascism.” Obviously believing that there is not such force in the world, he argues that its advocates, including Senator John McCain, favor a “permanent war against Muslim radicals” that is really about one thing: “American access to oil.”

What worries Mr. Hayden is that in a contest between McCain and Obama, John McCain’s war record, combined with his Senate experience, makes him a “formidable” advocate of tough steps to protect American national security, something Mr. Hayden sees as a danger to the antiwar movement. His own prescription for withdrawal of troops are thus threatened by General Petraeus’ forthcoming April testimony before Congress, in which it is expected he will report on the favorable outcome of the surge, and urge the nation to stay the course.

Mr. Hayden thus sees Petraeus not as a honest soldier reporting the truth of what he has accomplished, but as a “de facto surrogate for McCain” that will force Barack Obama to have to respond without retreating from his promise of early withdrawal. He says, rightfully, that those he dubs the neoconservative opposition will oppose Obama by challenging him for wanting “to pull the plug on Iraq just when the tide is turning.” And why shouldn’t McCain do just that? Does Mr. Hayden think that the United States, should in fact, pull the plug precisely when the situation in Iraq is improving?

Ironically, Mr. Hayden condemns William Kristol for arguing in the pages of the New York Times and The Weekly Standard that the Democratic Party has become “the puppet of the antiwar groups.” Clearly, Mr. Kristol may have been premature. Mr. Hayden seems to want now to prove Kristol both prescient and right. Mr. Hayden fears that all of this will lead to McCain successfully forging a new center-Right coalition, leaving the Democrats only with the moderate and antiwar left-wing. The Republicans will have, he notes, the aid of Senator Joe Lieberman working as an ally who would also make inroads among the Jewish community.

Nevertheless, Tom Hayden is optimistic. He believes Americans will also see Afghanistan as a quagmire not susceptible to a military solution; Pakistanis showing they do not want to be pawns in an American war, and that a fight with the Taliban or al-Qaeda is nothing but a “bottomless battle.” His fear: that Obama will ignore all this, and seek to “prove his credentials as a militarist or face being painted as another Democrat too weak to be Commander-in-Chief.” His solution: the forces of the Left and the peace movement wage “open political and intellectual battle” against “the neoconservative agenda.”

Should Barack Obama listen to the Left’s advice, he will only push the Democratic Party back to the age of McGovernite isolationism, and contrary to the assertion of Tom Hayden, make the campaign much easier for John McCain. If the Democrats hope to actually win the presidency, the worst thing they could do is to take advice from Tom Hayden.

Wild Thing's comment.......

OMG Tom Hayden can we never get rid of that vile hippie !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not kidding, God Help us!! Tom Hayden the hihppie from the 60's, and he has never changed from back then. He is the ex husband of Jane Fonda and they used to do tons of anti-war rallies together during the Vietnam War.

The left wants to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory! Obama;'s foreign policy will be Carter-style appeasement...on steroids!!

Update On Nubs, the Iraq war dog

Nubs, the Iraq war dog, arrives at his new home

from Leatherneck.com

Friends will care for mutt until Marine buddy returns

By Michael Stetz
SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE STAFF WRITER
February 23, 2008
EARNIE GRAFTON / Union-Tribune

**** If you go to THIS LINK there is a wonderful video of Nubs on his arrival it is GREAT! ....it is just a tiny bit down the page from the top.

Marine Capt. Eric Sjoberg and his wife, Chrissy, greeted Nubs at Lindberg Field. They will be looking after the German shepherd/border collie mix for Maj. Brian Dennis.

Nubs wasted no time melting hearts. Big, tough Marines said things like, “Oooohhh,” and gently stroked his fur as they cradled him.

Reporters and camera crews swarmed around him. The German shepherd/border collie mix was sweet, gentle and a little on the scrawny side when he arrived at Lindbergh Field in San Diego yesterday evening. But he should gain a few pounds now that he'll be fed regularly.

Life in Iraq can be tough on a dog. Count Nubs among the luckiest. He got out thanks to a San Diego-based Marine, Maj. Brian Dennis, who befriended him and then had him flown home.

“It's amazing, he's finally home,” said Capt. Eric Sjoberg, who's going to care for Nubs with his wife Chrissy until Dennis, a Marine buddy, returns from Iraq in the spring.

Nubs licked Sjoberg's face. He panted patiently as cameras filmed and snapped pictures.

“You're seeing first-hand why the guys over there fell in love with him,” Sjoberg said.

Nubs is about 2. When young, his ears were slashed off because an Iraqi thought that would make him tough and alert. That's why Dennis named him Nubs. That's all he had left of his ears. And that was hardly Nubs' worst moment. Once, he was stabbed with a screwdriver. Dennis patched him up as best he could, but didn't think Nubs would make it. The wound was deep. He slept with him that night to keep him warm as temperatures dipped to 18 degrees.

Dennis fell for the dog hard. The e-mails he sent to friends spoke of his life in Iraq and they always seemed to mention this tough little dog, said Maj. Chris Collins, his roommate in San Diego.

“It seemed that something bad would always happen,” Collins said. “He'd get into a fight or something. Nubs was always in bad shape. ” Dennis, who is based at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station, is serving along the border between Iraq and Syria, where he is helping to train Iraqis. It's rough terrain. Nubs and other dogs lived in an old Iraqi fort and survived on food scraps. Nubs ran wild. He had no owner, no home, no collar, nobody to play fetch with, no one to bring a slipper to, no Alpo, nobody to scratch behind his ear. No name, even, until Dennis came along.

But even Dennis didn't think the relationship would last. He's in a war zone, after all. When Dennis and his team were ordered to move 70 miles away, he figured life with Nubs was over. It wasn't. Nubs somehow tracked the Marines to their new location, showing up two days after they did. Dennis was amazed. How'd he do it? He was convinced then that he couldn't leave this dog behind. He couldn't keep him in Iraq, of course. It's against the rules.

So he wrote home, saying he wanted to take Nubs back to the U.S. “We thought he was crazy. We didn't think it was possible,” Sjoberg said. Friends rallied, raising more than $3,500, and the wheels were put in motion. Yesterday, after a couple stops along the way, Nubs came home. And soon he'll be frolicking in the sands of a local dog beach, far away from the stark desert sands of Iraq.

Wild Thing's comment........

I am soooooo happy about this, Nubs arrived safely and will be taken good care off. Now I can hardly wait for Maj. Brian Dennis to get home to his pal Nubs.

Previous post about Nubs and Maj.Brian Dennis.

Preview Of The Coming Democrat Convention? ~ Yikes

Clintonite Stabs Obama Supporter

Cops: Man assaulted brother-in-law during political argument

smoking gun

FEBRUARY 25

Meet Jose Antonio Ortiz. The Pennsylvania man allegedly stabbed his brother-in-law in the stomach after the pair quarreled about their respective support of Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. According to cops, Ortiz, 28, stabbed Sean Shurelds last Thursday night in the kitchen of an Upper Providence Township home.

According to a criminal complaint, a copy of which you'll find here, the 41-year-old Shurelds, an Obama supporter, told Ortiz that the Illinois senator was "trashing" Clinton (apparently in regard to recent primary and caucus results). Ortiz, a Clinton supporter, replied that "Obama was not a realist." While not exactly fighting words, the verbal political tiff led to some mutual choking and punching. And, allegedly, a stabbing in the abdomen. Ortiz, pictured in the mug shot below, was charged with a felony aggravated assault count and two misdemeanors and jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail. Shurelds was flown to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.

Wild Thing's comment.......

It's the knives I tell you, they must be outlawed. LOL I thought all Democrats are about kumbaya and understanding, hope and change.

I wonder if we will be seeing more of this stupid kind of thing.

Hillary's people have not been too happy lately either:

Somber Clinton Soldiers On as the Horizon Darkens ....article is two pages and has other information about what is going on inside her campagin.

There is a widespread feeling among donors and some advisers, though, that a comeback this time may be improbable. Her advisers said internal polls showed a very tough race to win the Texas primary — a contest that no less than Mr. Clinton has said is a “must win.” And while advisers are drawing some hope from Mrs. Clinton’s indefatigable nature, some are burning out.

Morale is low. After 13 months of dawn-to-dark seven-day weeks, the staff is exhausted. Some have taken to going home early — 9 p.m. — turning off their BlackBerrys, and polishing off bottles of wine, several senior staff members said.

Some advisers have been heard yelling at close friends and colleagues. In a much-reported incident, Mr. Penn and the campaign advertising chief, Mandy Grunwald, had a screaming match over strategy recently that prompted another senior aide, Guy Cecil, to leave the room. “I have work to do — you’re acting like kids,” Mr. Cecil said, according to three people in the room.

Others have taken several days off, despite it being crunch time. Some have grown depressed, be it over Mr. Obama’s momentum, the attacks on the campaign’s management from outside critics or their view that the news media has been much rougher on Mrs. Clinton than on Mr. Obama.

And some of her major fund-raisers have begun playing down their roles, asking reporters to refer to them simply as “donors,” to try to rein in their image as unfailingly loyal to the Clintons.

Some Facts About Barack Hussein Obama

Wild Thing's comment........

As time goes by I think more and more informartion will be coming out about this couple. His followers (and that is what it feels like when we see the crowds swaying and raising their arms in the air and chanting ) obviously don't care to know the truth.

Democrat President Wanna Be Dressed As A Somali Elder

"Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is dressed in Muslim attire while on a trip to Kenya"

Source for Photo was taken during Obama’s 2006 taxpayer-funded trip to Africa. U.S. Senator Barack Obama, is dressed as a Somali Elder by Sheikh Mahmed Hassan, left, during his visit to Wajir, a rural area in northeastern Kenya, near the borders with Somalia and Ethiopia.

Obama Camp Furious at Photo Release

Fox News You Decide 08

A two-year-old picture of Barack Obama dressed in traditional Somali garb has sparked a new war of words between the Democratic presidential front-runner and rival Hillary Clinton, whose aides say they can’t confirm or deny whether her camp is the source of the photo.

The photograph shows the Illinois senator outfitted as a Somali elder during his 2006 visit to northeastern Kenya, part of a five-country tour of Africa. It appeared at the top of Monday’s Drudge Report, and was said to have been provided by Clinton staffers over the weekend.

Now both campaigns are suggesting that the other should feel some sort of shame over the flap. According to Obama aides, the Clinton campaign is sinking to “shameful fear-mongering.” Clinton’s campaign chief retorted that she can’t figure out why Obama would be “ashamed” of having the photo out in the public.

While the source of the photo is unverified, Drudge claims it was sent to the site by a Clinton aide, who argued that had it been a costumed Clinton, it would have made the front pages.

“Wouldn’t we be seeing this on the cover of every magazine if it were HRC,” shorthand for the candidate, Hillary Rodham Clinton, wrote the unnamed Clinton campaign staffer, according to the Drudge Report.

Expressing outrage, Obama’s campaign suggested the purpose of the photo release was to invoke reminders of persistent rumors that Obama is secretly Muslim, and by extension, anti-American.

“On the very day that Senator Clinton is giving a speech about restoring respect for America in the world, her campaign has engaged in the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering we’ve seen from either party in this election,” Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said.
“This is part of a disturbing pattern that led her county chairs to resign in Iowa, her campaign chairman to resign in New Hampshire, and it’s exactly the kind of divisive politics that turns away Americans of all parties and diminishes respect for America in the world,” Plouffe continued.

A longtime member of Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ, Obama, who as a child lived for four years in Indonesia, has repeatedly denied that he is Muslim. Previous attacks have been decried by both candidates, and one Clinton campaign volunteer was asked to step down after forwarding an e-mail spreading the Muslim rumor.

But seeing an opportunity to refute the Obama camp’s outrage, Clinton campaign Manager Maggie Williams turned the perceived prejudice on its head.

”If Barack Obama’s campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely,” Clinton campaign manager Maggie Williams said in a statement.
“This is nothing more than an obvious and transparent attempt to distract from the serious issues confronting our country today and to attempt to create the very divisions they claim to decry. We will not be distracted,” she said.

Indeed, the New York senator, her husband, Bill Clinton, and other past presidents have all been photographed in traditional costume while visiting nations abroad.

Wild Thing's comment.......

LOL Hey Obama if you are offended they I ask WHY? Lots of President's and even their wives have dressed like the customs of other countries when visiting. Your being angry just may have more behind it then YOU Obama want to admit.....like maybe how you want to protect the image of Islam???? Just a thought!

A little note from me to those lurking that are going to vote for Obama:
You need to consider who Obama is loyal to. He was born a muslim, his father a Kenyan. He lived in Indonesia with his step father, a muslim. He became a Christian at age 28, joining a church to help him as a ‘community activist’. I question whether this is the best person to lead our military during a time of war against Islam. Considering that his views are 100% in alignment with the enemy ....US weakness, retreat, appeasement...it is undoubtedly an issue, and one that many Americans should consider heavily this fall.

Al-Qaida in Iraq Intelligence and Suicide Operations Facilitator Killed

BAGHDAD

A terrorist killed during an operation Feb. 17 has been positively identified as Abu Karrar.
Karrar, also known as Arkan Khalaf Khudayyir, was a senior intelligence leader involved in the al-Qaida in Iraq network in Baqouba. He was also a terrorist facilitator for the suicide bombing network in the Diyala River Valley region, which conducts attacks in Baghdad, to include attacks by female suicide bombers. Reports indicate the network has been disrupted by recent successful Coalition operations in the area.

Karrar was killed when Coalition forces conducted an operation near Khan Bani Sad Sunday afternoon. As Coalition forces arrived in the target area, they observed Karrar and another suspect fleeing their vehicle. Karrar brandished a weapon with the perceived intent to fire on Coalition forces. The assault force engaged, killing both men. Coalition forces discovered an AK-47 and ammunition in the vehicle, and they destroyed the vehicle to prevent further use for terrorist activity.

“Iraqi and Coalition forces will relentlessly pursue terrorist leaders, like Abu Karrar, who plan al-Qaida’s indiscriminate attacks on innocent civilians,” said Maj. Winfield Danielson, MNF-I spokesman.

B. Hussein Obama Has Calypso Louie's Endorsement

Farrakhan praises Obama at Saviours' Day event in Chicago

CHICAGO

In his first major public address since recovering from complications due to cancer, Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan said Sunday that presidential candidate Barack Obama is the "hope of the entire world" that the U.S. will change for the better.

Farrakhan and his family have a farm in New Buffalo Township in southwestern Michigan's Berrien County.

Farrakhan, addressing an estimated crowd of 20,000 people at the annual Saviours' Day celebration, never outrightly endorsed Obama but spent the majority of the nearly two-hour speech praising the Illinois senator.

"This young man is the hope of the entire world that America will change and be made better," he said. "This young man is capturing audiences of black and brown and red and yellow. If you look at Barack Obama's audiences and look at the effect of his words, those people are being transformed."

Farrakhan compared Obama to the religion's founder, Fard Muhammad, who also had a white mother and black father.

"A black man with a white mother became a savior to us," he told the crowd of mostly followers dressed in Nation of Islam attire including long white suits and matching head scarfs for women and navy-colored uniforms with caps for men. "A black man with a white mother could turn out to be one who can lift America from her fall."

Obama's campaign spokesman Bill Burton said, "Senator Obama has been clear in his objections to Minister Farrakhan's past pronouncements and has not solicited the minister's support."

More form the article......

Farrakhan also leveled small jabs at Hillary Rodham Clinton, Obama's rival for the Democratic nomination, suggesting that she represents the politics of the past and has been engaging in dirty politics.

Farrakhan's keynote address at McCormick Place, the city's convention center, wrapped up three days of events geared at unifying followers and targeting youth.

Wild Thing's comment........

Obama's campaign spokesman Bill Burton said, "Senator Obama has been clear in his objections to Minister Farrakhan's past pronouncements and has not solicited the minister's support."

Obama’s pastor, Rev. Jeremiah White, of Obama’s racist Trinity Church of Christ, is a good friend of Farrakhan.

I don't care what his campaign spokesman says, if a person does not want to be associated with the likes of Farrakhan he would not only distance himself from that person but certainly make a statement that he does not have the same beliefs. But then Obama can't and won't do that either with his ( Obama's) stupid church that preaches hate of whites, Jews and Israel.

To Code Pink and Other American Hating Monsters

.

Move America Forward Fights Berkeley Council

Move America Forward is proud to unveil our brand-new TV ad that fights back against the Berkeley City Council's campaign against our military.

The petition

We, the undersigned condemn the Berkeley City Council’s treasonous attack on US Marine Recruiters stationed in their city. We ask that Congress cut off funds from any and all municipal entity within the confines of the city of Berkeley, California, until such time as the city council withdraws it’s action.

The City Council has voted to tell the Marines their downtown recruiting station is not welcome and “if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome guests.”

The measure passed last week by a vote of 8-1.

The council also voted to explore enforcing a city anti-discrimination law, focusing on the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

In a separate item, the council voted, also 8-1, to give the Marxist protest group Code Pink a parking space in front of the recruiting office once a week for six months and a free sound permit for protesting once a week.

Fidel's Brother Raul Castro Becomes Cuba's Leader

Thanks to Johhny Dollar for the Video.

Cuba's acting President Raul Castro holds his vote before casting it, to elect the president of Cuba's National Assembly in Havana, Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008

HAVANA

Cuba's parliament named Raul Castro president on Sunday, ending nearly 50 years of rule by his brother Fidel but leaving the island's communist system unshaken.

In a surprise move, officials bypassed younger candidates to name a 77-year-old revolutionary leader, Jose Ramon Machado, to Cuba's No. 2 spot — apparently assuring the old guard that no significant political changes will be made soon.

The retirement of the ailing 81-year-old president caps a career in which he frustrated efforts by 10 U.S. presidents to oust him.

Raul Castro stressed that his brother remains "commander in chief" even if he is not president and proposed to consult with Fidel on all major decisions of state — a motion approved by acclamation.

Though the succession was not likely to bring a major shift in the communist government policies that have put Cuba at odds with the United States, many Cubans were hoping it would open the door to modest economic reforms that might improve their daily lives.

In his first speech as president, Raul Castro suggested that the Communist Party as a whole would take over the role long held by Fidel, who formally remains its leader. The new president said the nation's sole legal party "is the directing and superior force of society and the state."

"This conviction has particular importance when because the founding and forging generation of the revolution is disappearing," Raul Castro added.

The U.S. has said the change from one Castro to another would not be significant, calling it a "transfer of authority and power from dictator to dictator light."

Wild Thing's comment........

I doubt Cuba will change at all now or anytime in the future. All they do is pass the baton from one commie to the other.

Ralph Nader Enters The Presidential Race ~ Welcome heh heh

In this photograph provided by 'Meet the Press,' Ralph Nader appears on 'Meet the Press'' Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, at the NBC studios in Washington. Nader said Sunday he will run for president as a third-party candidate, criticizing the top White House contenders as too close to big business and pledging to repeat a bid that will 'shift the power from the few to the many.'

Nader announces new bid for White House

Yahoo news

WASHINGTON

Ralph Nader said Sunday he will run for president as a third-party candidate, criticizing the top White House contenders as too close to big business and pledging to repeat a bid that will "shift the power from the few to the many."

Nader, 73, said most people are disenchanted with the Democratic and Republican parties due to a prolonged Iraq war and a shaky economy. The consumer advocate also blamed tax and other corporate-friendly policies under the Bush administration that he said have left many lower- and middle-class people in debt.

"You take that framework of people feeling locked out, shut out, marginalized and disrespected," he said. "You go from Iraq, to Palestine to Israel, from Enron to Wall Street, from Katrina to the bumbling of the Bush administration, to the complicity of the Democrats in not stopping him on the war, stopping him on the tax cuts."
"In that context, I have decided to run for president," Nader told NBC's "Meet the Press."

Nader also criticized Republican candidate John McCain and Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton for failing to support full Medicare for all or cracking down on Pentagon waste and a "bloated military budget. He blamed that on corporate lobbyists and special interests, which he said dominate Washington, D.C., and pledged in his third-party campaign to accept donations only from individuals.

"The issue is do they have the moral courage, do they have the fortitude to stand up to corporate powers and get things done for the American people," Nader said. "We have to shift the power from the few to the many."

Nader also ran as a third-party candidate in 2000 and 2004, and many Democrats still accuse him of costing Al Gore the 2000 election.

Obama, responding Saturday to Nader's earlier criticisms that he lacked "substance," praised Nader as a "heroic figure."

"In many ways he is a heroic figure and I don't mean to diminish him. But I do think there is a sense now that if somebody is not hewing to the Ralph Nader agenda, then you must be lacking in some way," Obama said.

Clinton called Nader's announcement a "passing fancy" and said she hoped his candidacy wouldn't hurt the Democratic nominee.

"Obviously, it's not helpful to whomever our Democratic nominee is. But it's a free country," she told reporters as she flew to Rhode Island for campaign events.

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, speaking shortly before Nader's announcement, said Nader's past runs have shown that he usually pulls votes from the Democrat. "So naturally, Republicans would welcome his entry into the race," the former Arkansas governor said on CNN.

Nader vociferously disputes the spoiler claim, saying only Democrats are to blame for losing the race to George W. Bush. He said Sunday there could be no chance of him tipping the election to Republicans because the electorate will not vote for a "pro-war John McCain."
"If the Democrats can't landslide the Republicans this year, they ought to just wrap up, close down, emerge in a different form," Nader said.

Wild Thing's comment........

I’m SHOCKED, SHOCKED I tell ya........ hahahaha

I say let them all enter! Maybe even Bloomberg will enter too. hahaha The Democrats don't like Nader, so this will just add to the mix.

Huckabee Overstays Welcome On Saturday Night Live

Huckabee Lingers on the Set of 'SNL'

Miami Examiner

NEW YORK

Even though Mike Huckabee is still battling for the Republican presidential nomination despite long odds, he said Saturday he won't "overstay his welcome." Then he did precisely that, lingering on the "Weekend Update" set of "Saturday Night Live" despite repeated cues to leave the stage.

The former Arkansas governor appeared in a "Weekend Update" segment in which he described his confusion over whether it is mathematically impossible for him to win the nomination over front-runner John McCain. After anchorman Seth Meyers explained the numbers, Huckabee responded: "I'm not a math guy, I'm more of a miracle guy. So at this point I'm gonna focus on the miracle part."

However, he said: "Mike Huckabee does not overstay his welcome. When it's time for me to go, I'll know. And I'll exit out with class and grace."
Then he remained seated at the "Update" desk even though Meyers made it clear it was time for him to leave.

SNL," known for its political humor, has been on the sidelines for nearly four months because of the Writers Guild of America strike. The political landscape has changed a great deal since then, with easy targets for the show's satire, like Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney, dropping out of the Republican race, and Barack Obama overtaking Hillary Rodham Clinton on the Democratic side.

The last time NBC broadcast a new episode of "SNL," on Nov. 3, Obama played himself as a guest at a party thrown by Hillary and Bill Clinton. McCain hosted an episode of the show in 2002; Giuliani hosted in 1997, when he was mayor of New York City

Wild Thing's comment........

LOL oh dear me, Huckabee just can't understand his 15 minutes of fame are over and done. If he were Cinderella the slipper would still be lost, the coach outside would already have left and the Prince would have gone home long long ago. giggle

Cheney Gets Tough On Gun-grabbing Case

Vice President Dick Cheney took the unusual step Friday of joining with lawmakers in signing a Supreme Court brief that goes further in support of gun rights than the one submitted by the Bush administration.

Cheney Joins Supreme Court brief in challenge to D.C. handgun ban

MSNBC

WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney took the unusual step Friday of joining with lawmakers in signing a Supreme Court brief that goes further in support of gun rights than the one submitted by the Bush administration.

The filings were made in a case that challenges the District of Columbia's ban on handguns. It was scheduled to be argued on March 18.

Both briefs argue that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to own guns. However, the administration contends that too categorical a ruling could threaten other federal gun restrictions and wants the justices to send the case back to lower courts without deciding whether the handgun ban should fall.

Cheney joined more than 300 senators and representatives, led by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, who want the court to rule that Washington's ban is unconstitutional.

"The vice president believes strongly in Second Amendment rights," Cheney spokeswoman Megan Mitchell said.

Seventeen Democratic lawmakers and District of Columbia Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton urged the court to uphold the ban.

Lawyers with long experience at the court could not recall another case in which a vice president took a position different from that of his own administration.

Wild Thing's comment........

Cheney has the conservative's back on this one. Bravo!

We have been waiting a lifetime to have the Surpreme Court affirm our Second Amendment rights. Now Bush's Solicitor General has argued against that affirmation.

Make no mistake about it, if even one gun is deemed to be able to be banned by municipalities across this nation, then those municipalities will be able to set their own scales as to what is deemed worthy of banning or not. It will be open season on weapons of all types, because of 'their inherent danger'.

I can't believe Bush sold us out on this one, but the man has.

This could be a very very damaging ruling by the Supreme Court, if it allows carve outs. It could essentially be the end of the right to own guns in our nation, all but a select few that will be essentially worthless to defend ourselves against what the criminals will have. And criminals will always have access to any gun they want.

RINOs will be the death of our rights and our nation. We must demand better, or we will wind up with much worse.

Cheney is 100 times the man that GWB could ever hope to be. And on waterboarding and Cneney.... Cheney:”Waterboarding? We use it. It works. Next”

Marine Sgt Daniel Gilyeat Get's Renovated Home

Daniel Gilyeat and his family are getting a renovated home from ABC's popular show, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."
Gilyeat is a father and Marine who served two tours in Iraq. On his second tour, which he volunteered for, he was injured on a mission when a bomb struck his vehicle.

Gilyeat suffered serious injuries and lost his left leg above the knee. In addition, his marriage ended and he suddenly became a single father. But 25 days after losing his leg, Gilyeat was up and walking with a prosthetic leg and inspiring other wounded soldiers by visiting them in hospitals and speaking with their families.

Household chores were difficult for Gilyeat because the home was not handicap-accessible. The floors were uneven and the doors were too small to get through.

The work on the home was done in 7 days.

Some behind-the-scenes looks at the upcoming episode that will aired Sunday, February 10, 2008.

"I have always been amazed by the spirit and motivation of Sgt Gilyeat. He is always a very firm and strong leader, but keeps himself approachable. This makes Daniel easy to like and easy follow, but you always know that you don't want to cross his path. Even when I was still a junior Marine finding my place in the unit, Sgt Gilyeat would find the time to talk with me and other new Marines and make up feel welcome, like we were part of the brotherhood. You can always see the gentleness in his eyes, but it's also easy to see that this is one guy who you want working with you, and not against you. I admire his rugged appreciation for all things Marine."
