Butting Heads at the Border by Chuck Norris

Butting Heads at the Border
By Chuck Norris
This past week, a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Border Patrol shot and wounded a man in the left buttock who assaulted agents at a violent stretch of the U.S.-Mexico border.
Despite the fact that the man was among a group that was trying to enter the United States illegally and was throwing rocks and concrete chunks at agents, officials at the Mexican Consulate in San Diego are criticizing the agent and demanding the U.S. conduct a full investigation. Consul General Remedios Gomez Arnau said,
"Any kind of shooting toward Mexican territory is rejected by the Mexican government. They should have waited for response of the Mexican authorities."Are you kidding me? Do I smell another Compean-and-Ramos case in the making? Do illegals think border crossing is nothing more than a game of cat and mouse? Do Mexican officials think we only are playing "rock, paper, scissors" at the border? When will we finally draw a line in the sand and stop this insanity at our nation's boundaries? When will we back our agents and their Bill of Rights? When will we give them the complete resources, permission and support they need to carry out their duties fully? Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Daryl Reed reports that there have been 330 assaults on agents already this year, compared with 254 reported incidents in 2007. It's time for our government to ante up and protect and secure our borders and agents better.
Border security is so critical, of course, because it is about far more than just illegal immigrants. It affects the transport of drugs, weapons, gangs (such as MS-13) and terrorists, and it even affects issues surrounding national sovereignty. That is why I address our border troubles as one of eight major problems threatening America most in my upcoming (Sept. 7 release) book, Black Belt Patriotism, which is available for pre-order at Amazon.com. In the book, I give my critique of what is destroying our country and offer my solutions for rebuilding America and restoring the American dream. In particular, I lean heavily upon our Founders' work and wisdom, looking to them for possible solutions to our present problems. In the next couple of columns, I'll be giving readers a few first-seen excerpts from the book.
Here's a glimpse from the chapter "Secure and protect our borders," in which I also give (but not here) my solutions to deal with the 12 million or so illegal immigrants already residing in America:
"A few years ago I had the opportunity to fly along America's borders with my good friend John Hensley, who was the assistant commissioner of U.S. Customs. We flew on a Black Hawk helicopter and checked out locations along the California border, where there was heavy traffic of drug dealers and illegal aliens coming into the United States from Mexico.
"As we were flying over the desert, we landed in the middle of nowhere. We stepped out of the helicopter and John asked me, 'What do you see?' I replied, 'Absolutely nothing but desert.' As soon as I said that, up popped U.S. border agents, who were hiding in holes covered by beige tarps that blended in with the terrain. They were waiting for illegal traffic trying to sneak into our country. I thought, what dedication this takes to hide out here in this intense heat for hours at a time -- just waiting.
"There's no doubt that Americans possess the resources and passion to close off our borders and ports from illegal immigration and contraband. If we can overthrow another country, we ought to be able to protect our own. Yet to this day, our national borders and ports of entry are like lattice work with plenty of holes through which illegals now come in.
"I don't lay the blame on our dedicated border agents. But I do blame an overly bureaucratic government that still has not given agents the proper resources and permissions they need to get their job done. I also blame government for undermining national security by being more concerned with global commerce than national sovereignty. They would rather please the international masses than enforce our own laws.
"Let's ask ourselves, why is Congress not securing our borders? Could it be they have greater global goals that will ultimately dissolve this Union? Whether intentionally or not, government has failed for decades to secure the borders. It is up to us to make sure it gets done, by taking several points of action that I'll be outlining in this chapter. The time is now. And if we don't do our part, America as we know it will dissolve like a sugar cube in coffee. From the coastland to the heartland, we will lose our distinctions and no longer even recognize our country. As President Ronald Reagan said, 'A nation without borders is not a nation.'"

Wild Thing's comment.............
"Any kind of shooting toward Mexican territory is rejected by the Mexican government. They should have waited for response of the Mexican authorities."
And mexican military actually crossing the border into the USA and holding BP and citizens at gunpoint is A-OK I guess?
The bad guys around the world smell weakness and lack of resolve on our part.

Home Depot, Others Required To Make Day Laborer Shelters
Home Depot, Others Required To Make Day Laborer Shelters
Big-box, home-improvement stores in Los Angeles will have to set aside space for day laborers under an ordinance passed by the City Council on Wednesday.
When the ordinance takes effect -- the mayor has to sign it, and most city laws take effect 30 days afterward -- it will apply to stores such as The Home Depot that have 100,000 square feet or more, or any structure where 250,000 square feet or more of warehouse floor area is added.
The shelters must be easily accessible and include drinking water, bathrooms, tables, seating and trashcans. The stores may be required to work with Los Angeles police in developing a security plan, according to the unanimous vote by the 15-member lawmaking body.
People who live near Home Depot stores have complained of day laborers drinking beer, urinating in yards or other unseemly behavior.
The National Day Laborer Organizing Network, a nonprofit group started in Northridge in 2001, supports the new requirements.
"It provides for safe and dignified hiring locations where contingent workers can defend their basic rights. It carefully balances the interests of business, residents, day laborers and their employers," said the group's executive director, Pablo Alvarado.
Francisco Uribe, senior manager of government relations for The Home Depot, said the corporation does not oppose the day laborer centers.
"Although the complex challenges associated with the presence of day laborers are not specific to one industry nor one company, The Home Depot recognizes that some of our stores in the city of Los Angeles are impacted," Uribe said.
"The Home Depot has and will continue to work with the city of Los Angeles and other key stakeholders in the various communities where The Home Depot operates to jointly address these challenges," Uribe said.
City Councilman Richard Alarcon singled out The Home Depot for attracting day laborers, saying other big-box stores do not have the same kind of problems.
"Lowe's doesn't have the problem. And you ask yourself 'why don't we see massive (numbers of) day laborers at Lowe's?' The reason is they target women. It's very clear that their marketing scheme is more focused on interior design-type customers," Alarcon said.
The Community Development Department already operates 11 day-laborer sites in the city. Grant funding is used to maintain the facilities at an annual cost of $180,000.

Wild Thing's comment..........
Stuff like this brings to mind Reagan’s “Time for Choosing” speech. He, literally, warned of just this type of behavior...in 1964!!! I am also thinking of our elections and also our stand for what is right in the world and for our country.
Why not arrest them? Why not arrest the people who hire them? Why not spend the $180 grand a year the City spends to maintain these things to help “the poor contingent workers” get legal? Why not tax the companies that hire them?

Go Pound Sand World Court!

World Court: U.S. must delay Mexican death sentences
THE HAGUE
The World Court ordered the United States on Wednesday to do all it could to halt the imminent executions of five Mexicans until the court makes a final judgment in a dispute over suspects' rights.
The row, which has strained relations between the neighbors, centers on the fact that the United States failed to inform 51 of its citizens sentenced to die in U.S. jails of their right to consular assistance.
One of the five Mexicans on death row, Jose Medellin, is due to die on August 5 in Texas.
In 2004 the World Court, or International Court of Justice (ICJ), ruled in favor of Mexico, finding the United States had violated international law. It ordered the United States to review the 51 cases to see whether the lack of consular assistance had prejudiced the outcome of their trials.
A year later, U.S. President George W. Bush ordered Texas to review Medellin's case but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in March that Bush had no authority to do so, leading Texas to schedule Medellin's execution for August.
"The court indicates that the United States of America shall take all measures necessary to ensure that five Mexican nationals are not executed pending its final judgment," Judge Rosalyn Higgins said.
Mexico, which had asked the court for an interpretation of its 2004 ruling, given U.S. assertions that its federal states have a large degree of legal autonomy and it cannot compel them to review the cases, welcomed Wednesday's ruling.
----- this is sickening and it is a 3 page article. ......for the rest of the article CLICK HERE

Wild Thing's comment........
The U.S. is not part of the “World Court”. They’re just blowing bad air and trying to look relevant. It didn’t work the last time they tried this, I doubt it will work any better this time.
If President Bush allows this "ruling" to be upheld, then we've truly lost our sovereignty. I cannot for the life of me believe that OUR leadership and rule of law comes from Amsterdam and Mexico, and with no end in sight. What's next?
The US supreme Court has already ruled that Bush over stepped his authority in this matter as related to the US Constitution.

Supreme Court Rules Against Illegal Alien Death Row Murderer
Texas has every right to go ahead and execute this POS on Aug 5th. I hope Texas “executes” it's own right and thumbs it's nose at the “World” Court.
If we start knuckling under to these unelected poofters who have no jurisdiction whatever over our free and sovereign nation, it means that our sovereignty and our Constitution have been seriously compromised

Illegal Patients In Hospitals Should Be Kicked Out and Sent Back
Here is a sampling of the sort of facts the politicians and pro-illegal lobby want you to ignore, yet expect you to continue to bear the burden of. Is it any wonder scores of hospitals in border states and elsewhere have shut down or closed their ER units?!!!
.

Wild Thing's comment.........
Imagine a girl, she wants to be a nurse when she grows up. She studies hard and one day she is a nurse, and all is well with the world. She is helping people get well, she is a good nurse and loves her job. It cost her a lot of money to get the education to earn her nursing degree as well.
Then enter the illegal alien into her world. He/she comes to the hospital this nurse works at and he is put in a hospital room, tests are done, expensive tests are done, operations, treatment etc. and this illegal pays NOTHING.
It is costing the hospital millions of dollars to treat these criminals that break our laws coming in illegally.
Then one day the hospital shuts down. The wonderful nurse is out of a job, she has to find another hospital to work in, but more hospitals are closing and one day the LONG drive to another city to find a hospital won't be worth it because of the cost of gas and the travel is a long way to do twice a day for work.
We should be forcing any and all politicians that are FOR these illegals to PAY THESE HOSPITAL BILLS out of THEIR OWN POCKET since they are the ones that want these illegals here!

May Day March By Illegals and Those That Support Them
There are a lot of photos online from all the May Day rallies for ILLEGAL immigration. This is just one of them.

The article is below but I also want to show you this video.
MAY DAY MARCH BY ILLEGAL ALIENS
Viva La Raza! (Long live the Race!!) which explains why they never say it in English.
Thousands rally in May Day effort for immigration reform
CHICAGO (AP)
Thousands of chanting, flag-waving immigrants and activists rallied in cities across the country Thursday, attempting to reinvigorate calls for immigration reform in a presidential election year in which the economy has taken center stage.
From Washington to Miami to Los Angeles, immigrant rights activists demanded citizenship opportunities for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. and an end to raids and deportations.
"We come here to fight for legalization. We're people. We have rights," said Eric Molina, an undocumented factory worker who immigrated to Zion, Ill., from Mexico.
Molina, his sister and his 13-year-old daughter Erika, a U.S. citizen, were among about 15,000 people who rallied in Chicago in one of the largest demonstrations of the day.
Turnout has fallen sharply since the first nationwide rallies in 2006, when more than 1 million people - at least 400,000 in Chicago alone - clogged streets and brought downtown traffic to a standstill. Activists say this year's efforts are focused less on protests and more on voter registration and setting an agenda for the next president.
Some said participation likely was lower because many immigrants increasingly fear deportation.
Margot Veranes, a volunteer organizer in Tucson, Ariz., - where 12,000 took to the streets last year but early estimates Thursday put the crowd at about 500 - blamed the turnout on aggressive enforcement by Border Patrol and police.
"People have been stopped and deported in the last week. This is a community living in fear," said Veranes, a researcher for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades. "You never know when you're going to be stopped by Border Patrol and now the police."
But she said that's also why people were marching.
"We're marching to end the raids and the deportations, but we're also marching for health care and education and good jobs," she said.
In Washington, immigrant rights groups and social justice organizations were demanding that Prince William County, in northern Virginia, rescind its anti-illegal immigration measure. They also called for an end to raids and deportations and for establishment of worker centers in Washington, Maryland and Virginia.
Activists also asked the Republican and Democratic national committees to have their presidential candidates enact immigration reform.
A crowd of about 1,000 gathered on the steps of the Oregon Capitol in Salem to call for changes in immigration and workplace laws within the first 100 days of the next congressional session. Many demanded that Oregon reverse a decision, imposed by the Legislature in February, to require proof of legal residence to get a driver's license.
Hugo Orozzo, 17-year-old high school senior, was among hundreds who marched through the streets of southwest Detroit. He was born in the U.S., but his father was born in Mexico and some other family members are originally from Mexico.
"It is going to help my family and friends," Orozzo said of the effort. He carried a preprinted sign that read: "Stop raids and deportations that separate families!" in both English and Spanish.
And in Milwaukee, factory worker Miguel Tesillos, 29, was among hundreds who lined sidewalks waiting for the march to begin.
"Our people, we pay taxes, we pay the same as a citizen," said Tesillos, who has a Green Card. "Maybe the new president can see this point, and do something for us."
But activists say they know it will be a challenge to push their issues to the political forefront.
Immigration reform did not resonate with voters in primary elections who overwhelmingly listed the economy as their top concern. Immigration legislation has stalled and been defeated in the Senate, and presidential candidates have not extensively addressed the issues.
Democratic presidential rivals Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton supported a 2006 bill, sponsored by Republican candidate John McCain, that offered illegal immigrants legal status on conditions such as learning English. All three also have supported a border fence.
In Chicago, 17-year-old Celeste Rodarte marched with a group of her friends from the city's West Side. She said her parents came to the United States more than 20 years ago and became citizens last year.
"I know a lot of people who don't have papers and I want to help them out," Rodarte said.
Seventh-grader Vicente Campos of Milwaukee was granted an excused absence from school to attend the march. He said he was concerned by stories of immigration officials separating parents and children.
"Immigrants come here to support their families in Mexico," said Campos, 13. "They're not all here to do crimes."

Wild Thing's comment........
Illegals are parasites eating away at the fabric of our democracy. The USA is still a sovereign nation. The government might not think so any longer, but the American people certainly do and we want to keep it that way! If you want to live here as Americans, come the legal way. Otherwise, go away, Jose!
....Thank you Mark for the heads up about this.

Well good grief! How about if we had McCain, Bush, Kennedy and rest of the ILLEGAL friendlies pay for this instead of "we the people". This makes me so furious that we all have to pay for this, and those in power demanding we cave in to the illegals probably pay the least if anything at all.
Then there are those like Geraldo that tell us ( I heard this on one of Laura Ingraham radio shows when she had Geraldo on) how smart they are, smarter then any other immigrant. That is what Geraldo said and thank God for Laura laying into Geraldo about this BS. What a LIE, what a bunch of poppycock! If they were sooooo smart then we would have to have the press #2 for Spanish all over the freaking place. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
NO OTHER immigrant group has had to have this, no other has demanded it.
Illegals are so SMART Geraldo ????? I think NOT, prove it by taking away every single Press # 2 for Spanish!!!

"Being undocumented not a crime"

Top federal prosecutor in NJ: Being undocumented not a crime
New Jersey's top federal prosecutor told a Latino group it's a civil offense — not a crime — for immigrants to live in the country without proper documentation, a comment that a spokesman later said was aimed at a narrowly worded question.
U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie, widely considered to be a leading GOP contender for governor next year, spoke Sunday in response to a question on illegal immigration at an open forum that grew heated. He said living in the U.S. without immigration paperwork is "an administrative matter" that federal immigration officials are supposed to address through deportation.
"Don't let people make you believe that that's a crime that the U.S. attorney's office should be doing something about," Christie was quoted as saying in The Star-Ledger of Newark for Monday editions. "It is not."
Christie stressed that lacking immigration documents is not a crime unless the person was previously deported.
Critics quickly categorized Christie's remarks as soft on illegal immigration.
In a statement clarifying the remarks, Christie spokesman Michael Drewniak said that although lacking documents is not necessarily a crime in itself, it is a federal misdemeanor to enter the country without going through the proper immigration channels, or to enter by using fraudulent documents.
Christie "did not say, nor did he mean, that entering this country through any means other than the appropriate immigration channels, or to enter by using fraudulent documents.
Christie "did not say, nor did he mean, that entering this country through any means other than the appropriate immigration channels is a lawful act. It is not," Drewniak said in a statement.
An immigrant could be in the country illegally without making an illegal entry or using fraudulent documents if he or she overstayed a visa.
Christie, who was appointed by President Bush in 2001, made the remarks during a community forum organized by the Latino Leadership Alliance of New Jersey.
He told the audience it doesn't take a "genius" to see there's a serious immigration problem in this country and that the U.S. needs tighter border security.
"If there are people out there committing crimes, they should be dealt with," he said. "If there are undocumented people running around, then Immigration and Customs Enforcement should do their jobs."
Edward Correa, a member of the Latino Leadership Alliance, said the dozens of people who attended Christie's speech had a mixed reaction to his comments.
In 2005, U.S. Rep. James Sensenbrenner introduced legislation to criminalize any undocumented status. Though the attempt was unsuccessful, it triggered massive pro-immigrant marches across the nation.

Wild Thing's comment........
U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie needs to go back to law school. All those people who snuck across the US border are CRIMINALS.

Phoenix Mayor Asks FBI to Check Sheriff Arpaio

Phoenix Mayor Asks FBI to Check Sheriff
PHOENIX
The mayor wants the FBI to investigate whether the local county sheriff has violated any civil rights laws with his recent high-profile crackdowns on illegal immigrants.
The "saturation patrols" have drawn protests from civil rights and immigrant-rights advocates, but they have drawn support from backers of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and from people who believe the government hasn't done enough against illegal immigration.
In an April 4 letter to U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey, Mayor Phil Gordon asked the agency and the Justice Department's civil rights division to examine what he called discriminatory harassment and improper stops, searches, and arrests by sheriff's deputies in Maricopa County, which encompasses the metropolitan area.
"Over the past few weeks, Sheriff Arpaio's actions have infringed on the civil rights of our residents," Gordon wrote. "They have put our residents' well-being, and the well-being of law enforcement officers, at risk."
Justice Department officials said they would review Gordon's letter but declined to comment further.
Arpaio said it's ironic that Gordon wrote the letter the same day U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials observed his deputies arresting residents and illegal immigrants in the town of Guadalupe and approved of the sheriff's work.
"I think the mayor is disconnected from the people he represents and he doesn't get the point," Arpaio said Saturday. "Now he's going to Washington to confuse the issue and try to get the public against me."
The mayor "is degrading my office and my deputies by insinuating that they're violating all these civil laws. We don't profile," the sheriff said.
In the past month, sheriff's deputies and trained volunteers have gone into neighborhoods with large Hispanic populations, stopping people for routine traffic violations and asking some of them about their immigration status. Dozens of illegal immigrants have been detained.
ICE officials say Arpaio is not violating the formal agreement he has with their office that allows sheriff's deputies to enforce immigration laws.
Last week, the Arizona Ecumenical Council and American Jewish Committee issued a joint letter saying the patrols "evoked a 'police state' atmosphere" and led to "detainment on the basis of a racial profile and dehumanization of innocent people."
They were joined Friday by the Arizona chapter of the Anti-Defamation League, which echoed calls for a Justice Department investigation.

Wild Thing's comment........
This idiot mayor wants the Sheriff to stop arresting ILLEGALS! The lib mayor can pound sand. Joe is my hero.
Look at this I found searching for more on him in Google:
Here is some more about Sheriff Joe!
Maricopa County was spending approx. $18 million dollars a year on stray animals, like cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over , and the County Supervisors said okay. The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily. He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behavior. They give great classes for anyone who'd like to adopt an animal. He has literally taken stray dogs off the street, given them to the care of prisoners, and had them place in dog shows. The best part? His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million.
The prisoners get the benefit of about $0.28 an hour for working, but most would work for free, just to be out of their cells for the day. Most of his budget is for utilities, building maintenance, etc. He pays the prisoners out of the fees collected for adopted animals.
The rest of the country should take a look at the way he runs the jail system, and copy some of his ideas.
He has a huge farm, donated to the county years ago, where inmates can work, and they grow most of their own fresh vegetables and food, doing all the work and harvesting by hand. He has a pretty good sized hog farm, which provides meat, and fertilizer. It fertilizes the Christmas tree nursery, where prisoners work, and you can buy a living Christmas tree for $6 - $8 for the Holidays, and plant it later
He was reelected last year with 83% of the vote.
Now he's in trouble with the ACLU again. He painted all his buses and vehicles with a mural, that has a special hotline phone number painted on it, where you can call and report suspected illegal aliens. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement wasn't doing enough in his eyes, so he had 40 deputies trained specifically for enforcing immigration laws, started up his hotline, and bought 4 new buses just for hauling folks back to the border.
He's kind of a 'Git-R Dun' kind of Sheriff. He created the 'Tent City Jail': He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.
He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights Cut off al l but 'G' movies. He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects. Then He Started Chain Gangs For Women So He Wouldn't Get Sued For Discrimination. He took away cable TV Until he found out there was A Federal Court Order that Required Cable TV For Jails So He Hooked Up The Cable TV Again Only Let In The Disney Channel And The Weather Channel.
When asked why the weather channel He replied, So They Will Know How Hot It's Gonna Be While They Are Working ON My Chain Gangs.
He Cut Off Coffee Since It Has Zero Nutritional Value. When the inmates complained, he told them, 'This Isn't The Ritz/Carlton.....If You Don't Like It, Don't Come Back.'
He bought Newt Gingrich's lecture series on videotape that he pipes into the jails.
When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place. (now that's hilarious because there is so much truth to it!)
With Temperatures Being Even Hotter Than Usual In Phoenix (116 Degrees Just Set A New Record), the Associated Press Reports: About 2,000 Inmates Living In A Barbed-Wire-Surrounded Tent Encampment At The Maricopa County Jail Have Been Given Permission To Strip Down To Their Government-Issued Pink Boxer Shorts.
On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 Degrees inside the week before. Many were also swathed in wet, pink towels as sweat collected on their chests and dripped down to their PINK SOCKS. 'It Feels Like We Are In A Furnace,' Said James Zanzot, An Inmate Who Has Lived In The TENTS for 1 year. 'It's Inhumane.'
Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic.
He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: 'It's 120 Degrees In Iraq And Our Soldiers Are Living In Tents Too, And They Have To Wear Full Battle Gear, But They Didn't Commit Any Crimes, So Shut Your Damned Mouths!'
Way To Go, Sheriff! Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.
Sheriff Joe was just reelected Sheriff in Maricopa County , Arizona. On the news (December 11, 2007) Sheriff Joe has instituted another Road Gang for DUI Offenders. They will clean up around Phoenix and wear a pink shirt with a sign on the back that says 'Cleaning and Sober' and striped prison pants. What a guy. You just gotta love him. ( If not, ya "just might be part of the problem")
....Thank you Les for sending the article to me.

USARMY Sergeant's Son Murdered by Illegal Alien Gangbanger

A youth 'on track' until fatal gunfire
Football player's dreams die in a flurry of bullets in South L.A.
Stanford University called about Jamiel Shaw a week or so ago, intrigued by the slight but speedy running back for Los Angeles High School, the Southern League's most valuable player last year. Rutgers University called a few days later. The Shaw family already had reason to be proud. Jamiel's mother, Army Sgt. Anita Shaw, was on her second tour of duty in Iraq.
Jamiel Sr. heard the shots almost as soon as he hung up. He ran out of the house, raced around the corner and found his son lying on the sidewalk, bleeding.
"She's over there trying to protect us from guns and bombs, and then she has to hear that her son is dead over here," he said of Anita on Monday. "I've got my own personal Iraq now."
Los Angeles police officials described the killing as random and senseless, cutting down a youth who had been doing everything right in his life -- from hitting the books to never missing church to inspiring the Los Angeles High Romans to last year's Southern League title.
A police spokeswoman said two Latino men pulled up in a car, jumped out, asked Jamiel if he belonged to a gang, and shot him when he didn't answer. She said Jamiel was not affiliated with a gang.
Jamiel's teammates called him the "the spirit of the team."

L.A. shares blame in teen's death
By Doug McIntyre, Columnist
Doug McIntyre hosts the "McIntyre in the Morning" program on Talk Radio 790 KABC
ANITA Shaw says, "My country let me down."
It's hard to argue with her. Not only did America let Anita Shaw down, so did California and Los Angeles.
Truth be told, Anita Shaw is being diplomatic, if not generous, by not lashing out in righteous indignation at the massive tragedy she has suffered at the hands of an indifferent government. Our government: federal, state and local.
Who is Anita Shaw and why should you care what she says? Pull up a chair.
Anita Shaw is a sergeant in the United States Army. On March 2, little more than a month ago, she was serving in Iraq when her CO told her to report to the Red Cross office. It was there she learned her 17-year-old son, Jamiel Shaw II, had been murdered - gunned down exactly three doors away from his own home.
Jamiel Shaw Sr. heard the shots that killed his son; one to the chest, one between the eyes. Jamiel Sr. sprinted down the block, arriving just ahead of the police. The cops found him standing over his son, already dead, still clutching the cell phone he had used to tell his dad he'd soon be home. Now he was never coming home.
But his mother was. Sgt. Shaw was given 20 minutes to pack for a flight out of Baghdad.
Jamiel Shaw was a star football player with a solid GPA and a bright future. He was the apple of his father and mother's eye; a hero to his kid brother, 9-year-old Thomas. Tom Shaw wanted to be a football player like Jamiel. Maybe even wear his big brother's number 4. That was before. Now Thomas wants to be "a scientist" so he can "invent a time machine" and go back and save his brother.
Shaw's killer? Police believe they have him - 19-year-old Pedro Espinosa, an illegal alien gangbanger, a killer for the 18th Street Gang.
And here's how America let Sgt. Shaw down: Pedro Espinosa should never have been allowed into this country.
Here's how California failed Sgt. Shaw: It allowed Pedro Espinosa to live in a state that does nothing about its open borders except shift the blame to Washington.
Here's how Los Angeles failed Sgt. Shaw: We accommodated gangs, we still throw out the welcome mat for illegal aliens, we allowed Pedro Espinosa to serve 180 days on gun charges without checking his immigration status. We released Espinosa onto the streets, and 24 hours later he murdered Jamiel Shaw II.
While Jamiel's mother patrolled the streets of Baghdad, helping spare Iraqi mothers the grief Los Angeles visited upon her, we did nothing. This transcends outrage. It's obscene.
The ultimate responsibility for the murder of Jamiel Shaw rests with the triggerman. But let me be blunt - the cowardice of local politicians who hide behind political correctness and racial pandering as an excuse to look the other way on the mounting death toll perpetrated by illegal aliens are enablers of death.
This may be uncomfortable for some to read. I assure you it's uncomfortable to write. Jamiel Shaw's death was preventable. The president, Congress, the governor, the state Legislature, the mayor, the City Council, the County Board of Supervisors, the chief of police, the county sheriff - all of us failed him.
The son of a U.S. solider was murdered on the streets of L.A. What are we going to do about it? What are you going to do about it?
The good intentions that created Special Order 40 surely weren't intended for gangbangers. Personally, I believe Special Order 40 has been a vast and deadly failure. It's a poverty and crime magnet for L.A. and every other city that has its equivalent.
But whatever view you hold on sanctuary-city policies, can't we at least agree the special consideration given illegal aliens by Order 40 should not apply to domestic terrorists? Gangbangers should be hunted down just like international terrorists. In fact, a case can be made Pedro Espinosa is an international terrorist.
We need to pass "Jamiel's Law." We need to force every local politician to explain how they are not complicit in the murder of Shaw. We can't return Jamiel to his mother, however, we can restore her faith in the country she has served better than it has served her.

Wild Thing's comment........
The fault of this starts at the top with President Bush and his LOVE for illegal aliens. For his NOT securing our borders and for his wanting to put their comfort, desires and demands ABOVE the citizens of this country.
The blame trickles down from the office of the President to the Gov. and all involved.
Look to the liberals to blame for this.Bush LIBERAL, Arnie LIBERAL, the list is long and each name disgusting.
I am so sick of these people saying they are conservatives JUST to get elected and then they do their liberal crap like they do about illegals. And we are in for more of this too since we have three liberals running to sit in the Oval Office. None of them are worthy that is for damn sure.
And I can’t help but wonder what our soldiers must be thinking...going off to risk their lives, while their loved ones here are so vulnerable and their CIC absolutely flat out refuses to EFFECTIVELY SECURE OUR BORDERS...risking loosing the WAR, not in Iraq, not in Afghanistan, but right here in our own backyards.
"we allowed Pedro Espinosa to serve 180 days on gun charges without checking his immigration status. We released Espinosa onto the streets, and 24 hours later he murdered Jamiel Shaw II"
How damn hard is it to verify someone's residency after being arrested? And, if they're found to be ILLEGALLY here, why cannot they be deported after the complete their sentence.
We already HAVE perfectly good laws to deal with illegal immigration. The focus should be on enforcing them, rather than creating yet another law that we won’t enforce.
The question to the three running for President should be are YOU willing to call up a soldier to tell her that her son has been murdered by an illegal alien????!!!!
President Bush, Chertoff, Congress, Schwartzeneggar, State reps, LA City Council, Mayor Villagroisa, etc.
She should place all the blame exactly where it belongs. I would be screaming from the rooftops to ANYONE that would listen.
And to think they are working on another May 1 illegal alien march in L.A. This would be the perfect time for her to make her point and demand that the before mentioned ‘officials’ obey our country’s laws and protect citizens.
It really makes me sick and angry. I lived in California for 28 years, the State itself is the most beautiful I have ever seern. The coastline drive is like non other. It is the LIBERALS that have messed with it and are destroying so much about California.
But this illegal alien problem is not only in Calif. it is in every State and those in charge should be held accountable each and every time one of the illegals commits a crime against an American citizen.

33 Senator's Should Be On List As UnAmerican

33 Senators voted against English as America 's official language on June 6, 2007. Of the 33, only one is a Republican and two are Independents; the rest are Democrats!
On Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at 23:35:23, Colonel Harry Riley, USA-Ret. wrote:
Senators:
" Your vote against an amendment to Immigration Bill 1348 to make English America's official language is astounding. On D-Day, no less, when we honor those who sacrificed in order to secure the bedrock, character and principles of America , I can only surmise your vote reflects a loyalty to illegal aliens.I don't much care where you come from, what your religion is, whether you're black, white, or some other color, male or female, Democrat, Republican or Independent, but I do care when you're a United States Senator representing citizens of America and you vote against English as the official language of the United States.
Your vote reflects betrayal and political surrender. It violates your Pledge of Allegiance, dishonors historical principle, rejects patriotism, borders on traitorous action and, in my opinion, makes you unfit to serve as a United States Senator. Impeachment, recall or other appropriate action is warranted or possibly even worse.Four of you voting against English as America 's official language are current or former presidential candidates: Senator Biden, Senator Clinton, Senator Dodd and Senator Obama. You are and were four Senators vying to lead America, but you won't or don't have the courage to cast a vote in favor of English as America's official language when 91% of American citizens want English officially designated as our language.
This is the second time in the last several months this list of Senators have disgraced themselves as "political hacks" unworthy of being Senators and certainly unqualified to serve as the President of the United States .
If America is as angry as I am, you will realize a backlash so stunning it will literally "rock you out of your pants" and, preferably, totally out of the United States Senate. The entire immigration bill is a farce. Your action only confirms this really isn't about America , it's about self-serving politics and it's despicable at best. It has been said, "Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level!"
The following Senators voted against making English the official language of America :
Akaka (D-HI)

Biden (D-DE) (Unsuccessfully ran for President)

Menendez (D-NJ)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Murray (D-WA)
Obama (D-IL) (Wants to be President)
Reed (D-RI)
Reid (D-NV) (Senate Majority Leader)
Salazar (D-CO)
Sarbanes (D-MD)
Schumer (D-NY)
Stabenow (D-MI)
President Abraham Lincoln stated:
"Congressmen who willfully take actions during wartime that damage morale and undermine the military are saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled or hanged!"

Wild Thing's comment........
This is a great letter that Colonel Harry Riley wrote.
What nerve it takes and a hate for America for a politician to vote against English to be our language. Whenever I traveled out of the country I always took a small language booklet with me of whatever the language was in the country I was going to. I was never good at speaking other languages but I at least tried, out of respect for the country where I would be visiting or working.
There are many languages spoken by those coming to this country and it is WRONG that we have press #2 for Spanish instead of letting them know they need to learn English if they plan on living here.

Supreme Court Rules Against Illegal Alien Death Row Murderer

Medellin was born in Mexico, but spent much of his childhood in the United States. He was 18 in June 1993, when he and other members of the Black and Whites gang in Houston encountered two teenage girls on a railroad trestle..The girls were gang-raped and strangled. Their bodies were found four days later
Supreme Court rules against illegal alien Death Row murderer; upholds US sovereignty
This is very good news. Congrats to the state of Texas, which had to fight the open-borders lobby and the Bush administration all the way to the high court to prevent international law from superseding American sovereignty:
President Bush overstepped his authority when he ordered a Texas court to grant a new hearing to a Mexican on death row for rape and murder, the Supreme Court said Tuesday. In a case that mixes presidential power, international relations and the death penalty, the court sided with Texas 6-3.
Bush was in the unusual position of siding with death row prisoner Jose Ernesto Medellin, a Mexican citizen whom police prevented from consulting with Mexican diplomats, as provided by international treaty.
An international court ruled in 2004 that the convictions of Medellin and 50 other Mexicans on death row around the United States violated the 1963 Vienna Convention, which provides that people arrested abroad should have access to their home country’s consular officials. The International Court of Justice, also known as the world court, said the Mexican prisoners should have new court hearings to determine whether the violation affected their cases.
Bush, who oversaw 152 executions as Texas governor, disagreed with the decision. But he said it must be carried out by state courts because the United States had agreed to abide by the world court’s rulings in such cases. The administration argued that the president’s declaration is reason enough for Texas to grant Medellin a new hearing.
Chief Justice John Roberts, writing for the majority, disagreed. Roberts said the international court decision cannot be forced upon the states.
The president may not “establish binding rules of decision that pre-empt contrary state law,” Roberts said.
Andy McCarthy summed up the bottom line on this case last fall:
"At bottom, the case is about the freedom of Texans to govern themselves, to put sadistic murderers to death if that is what they choose democratically to do, as long as they adhere to American constitutional procedures in carrying out that policy choice. Sure, it offends Mexicans, Europeans, international law professors, and a motley collection of jurists who see themselves as a supra-sovereign tribunal. But that is not a basis for the President to interfere. The administration has made a great show of promoting democracy. Democracy, however, begins at home."

Wild Thing's comment........
This is excellent news. What a brilliant and clear thinking Chief Justice we have! And Bush had way exceeded his authority big time.

'Speak English' Signs Allowed At Philly Shop

Commission on Human Rights rules Geno's postings do not discriminate
msnbc for complete article
PHILADELPHIA
The owner of a famous cheesesteak shop did not discriminate when he posted signs asking customers to speak English, a city panel ruled Wednesday.
In a 2-1 vote, a Commission on Human Relations panel found that two signs at Geno's Steaks telling customers, "This is America: WHEN ORDERING 'PLEASE SPEAK ENGLISH,'" do not violate the city's Fair Practices Ordinance.
Shop owner Joe Vento has said he posted the signs in October 2005 because of concerns over immigration reform and an increasing number of people in the area who could not order in English.
Vento has said he never refused service to anyone because they couldn't speak English. But critics argued that the signs discourage customers of certain backgrounds from eating at the shop.
Commissioners Roxanne E. Covington and Burt Siegel voted to dismiss the complaint, finding that the sign does not communicate that business will be "refused, withheld or denied."

Wild Thing's comment......
Yipee about time!
This is a great update to a psot about this that I did about Joe Vento's place and how it was getting pro and con reactions.
I heard Joe Vento on one of the talk radio shows and he said what he does if a person does not speak English he will give them whatever is at the top of the menu. LOL I love the idea. He is still serving them and they get food, just not what they ordered if they won't order in English.

They Are known as Los Zetas
They are one of the deadliest gangs working along the U.S.-Mexico border. They admit to causing terror in Mexico and say they're busy in America. They are known as Los Zetas.
Los Zetas are Ex- Army Special forces, regular troopers, police agents and common criminals who work for Osiel Cardenas in the drug trafficking business. Some have received special-forces training under the U.S. Army at the School of the Americas in Fort Benning, Georgia [1]. The members with military backgrounds can be considered mercenaries working for Mexican drug cartels. The name Zeta comes from a radio code used by the Mexican federal police to locate high-ranking battalion commanders.
By Michael Webster Investigative Reporter
Investigators say the feared bands of ex-military elite forces are operating in Texas and other parts of the United States unchecked. A team of rogue Mexican commandos blamed for hundreds of killings and kidnappings along the U.S.-Mexico border has carried out at least five drug-related slayings as far north as Dallas, a sign that the group is extending its deadly operations into U.S. cities, U.S. law enforcement officials say.
The men are known as the Zetas, former members of the Mexican army who defected to Mexico's so-called Gulf drug cartel in the late 1990s.
"These guys operate like a military well trained and with precision," said Arturo A. Fontes, an FBI special investigator for border violence based in Laredo, in south Texas. "They have their hands in everything and they have eyes and ears everywhere. I've seen how they work, and they're good at what they do. They're an impressive bunch of ruthless criminals."
Dallas and federal officials said that since late 2003 eight to 10 members of the Zetas have been operating in north Texas, maintaining a "shadowy existence" and sometimes hiring Texas criminal gangs, including the Mexican Mafia, M-13 and Texas Syndicate, for contract killings according to the Dallas police dept.. The Texas Syndicate is a prison gang that authorities blame for several murders nationwide.
It is also believed by some officials at the CIA that they may have Al-Qaeda and other terrorist connections and maybe helping them breach our borders.
The U.S.-Mexico border is becoming like a war zone states Texas sheriff's from El Paso, McAllen, Laredo.
The feds in El Paso alerted law enforcement throughout the country, warning them that Mexican commandos are now working for drug cartels.
Most Americans are shocked to learn where the commandos were trained.
A memo from the Justice Department warns that Mexican commandos were trained by U.S. forces, but switched sides. They are now using their deadly skills to work for the drug cartels often with the Mexican regular army.
A recent Intelligence Bulletin from ICE we obtained says the Zetas are responsible for hundreds of violent drug-related murders. It says they've executed journalists, murdered people in Dallas, El Paso, McAllen, Laredo, Tijuana and Juarez. They even detained two DEA agents and recently they've shot at Border Patrol agents, County sheriffs and the US National Guard. At the Texas and Arizona borders with Mexico agents are already seeing a major increase in murder and other violence.
Perfecting their commando training, Los Zetas are known to be extremely violent killers and have been blamed for an outbreak of violence along the Mexican border for several years now, with no real resistance from the US Government.
Federal agents stationed at the El Paso Criminal Intelligence Center told local law enforcement, "that Not only did they receive some early military training but they developed their own internal training as well increasing their violence far beyond their own original capabilities."
The normally busy streets and busy stores in El Paso, Nogales, Sonora and Laredo on both sides of the river have been less busy due to all the violence and threats. It’s reported that many shop keepers in all of those broader cities and others are scared. Many claim their business has really fallen off since the Los Zetas showed up. Most shop owners like Seth (does not want to use his last name) who fear retaliation say “it’s a direct result of drug wars and random shootings.” Seth says,” the tourists are simply afraid to come to our cities to shop.
U.S. Customs agents, US Boarder Patrol and county Sheriff’s all along the boarder from California to east Texas have been involved in shootouts with an enemy they had not seen before. According to one Texas sheriff’s deputy “ these guys are equipped with automatic weapons, 50 Cal machine guns, M-60’s, infrared technology body armor, Humvee’s and state-of-the-art communications, he said ,” it is a combination of Los Zetas and Mexican military.”
As the drug wars heat up and expand between the Gulf Cartel to the east and the Tijuana Cartel to the west, a Justice Department bulletin warns:
“The violence will spill over the Mexican border into the United States and law enforcement agencies in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and Southern California can expect to encounter Los Zetas in the coming months and years.”
The violence plaguing the border towns has led to dire warnings issued by the State Department saying that narco- traffickers are on the hunt for US citizens.
The military training comes in handy with the arms the Zetas carry, including 9mm weapons and infrared technology - all parts of an armory equivalent to an American SWAT team. Drug money pays for it all.
The Zeta arsenal could make the group attractive to other groups, like al-Qaeda or the Mara Salvatruchas.
According to one of there own jailed members during an interview with law enforcement said, “there are some of the Maras and al-Qaeda inside the organization”. The phenomenon of the Maras, is a violent Central American gang that originated in Los Angeles and has become a nightmare in the region. …
While the Zetas are a problem for Mexican police, they also claim to work with drug dealers in the United States. Their work includes cold-blooded killings. They told us they knew of a hit on two men outside a Rio Grande City restaurant, and the murder of two men watching a cock-fight in Starr County according to a TV report aired in Arizona.
Law enforcement including Sheriff’s, Police Chiefs and regular concerned citizens along the Mexican American border say the US Government is doing very little to support and protect our hundreds of miles of borders. And say the Zetas are operating with immunity and doing what ever they like without and repercussions. They want something done and right now it is already completely out of hand and is dangerous for there kids and everyone else. Business owners on both sides of the border and even law enforcement are reluctant to talk about the problem fearing retaliation from these thugs.
.

Wild Thing's comment........
So what are we doing in our country to keep an eye on these people. It seems we just keep hearing about tallks behind closed doors for amnesty, and a fence that is not going to be built. We have two good men, Border Partol agents that did their job arrested and in prison. Chertoff saying he has a "gut feeling" more on coming in illegally, and a President and presidential candidates that have no plan either except to give in to the illegals. What a world amazing. The do nothing mentallity till it is too late.
There is a video HERE where two of the Zetas are interviewed.

Feds Find 22 Criminal Illegal Aliens In Syracuse (including from Iran and Iraq)

Feds find 22 criminal, fugitive aliens in Syracuse
Buffalo, NY
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials arrested 52 criminal and fugitive aliens as part of a four-day, six-state operation - including arrests in Syracuse and Binghamton.
The operation ended Monday. Across the six states, officials made 225 total arrests. Buffalo-based enforcement officials focused their operation in Syracuse and Binghamton, making 22 and 30 arrests, respectively, officials said.
"Fugitive aliens" are illegal aliens who fail to leave the country after having been ordered to do so by a federal immigration judge.
The multi-day operation took place in New York, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Missouri. The Syracuse arrests included a man with a conviction for aggravated assault for stabbing a man during a fight and an individual who is a registered sex offender and has a conviction for third-degree rape, officials said.
The aliens arrested came from the following countries: Mexico, Guatemala, Jamaica, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Cuba, El Salvador, India, Iraq, Iran, Kenya, Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Trinidad, officials said.

Wild Thing's comment........
Maybe they can deliever them to the front door of Bush, Kennedy and all the others wanting to cater to the illegals. sheesh Let them be in their backyard instead of the good people in Buffalo and other places.

More About The "Secret" Amnesty Bill
Lou Dobbs on CNN about the Amnesty Bill
The 'secrets' behind this bill and how tax payors will have to foot the costs of these provisions, and the benefits that the illegal aliens will get that established US citizens dont get.

Wild Thing's comment.......
This is a train wreck that will happen when they finish with this Amnesty Bill.
Just a thought here from me, one day in the privacy of ones home, it will be told in soft voices to the younger and future generations of our country how men and women came to this country with their heads held high obeying the immigration laws that once existed. Standing in line and giving their names to an American sitting at a table.
Beginning a new life, a better life and a chance to live in the land of the free. How seeing the Flag flying brought tears to their eyes and their heart full of pride to live in such a land like no other. And when seeing a soldier dressed in his uniform on the street was an opportunity to thank him for his sacrifice and service.
The day arriving when speaking English meant something and not a number to punch on a phone. The accomplishment of saying please and thank you in the language of the new land.
The peace in ones heart that accompanied knowing the work done and pay for an honest job to provide for yourself and your loved ones was something to be honored and respected. That those wanting a hand out were rare, and how even those having a hard time during wartime would do whatever they could to earn an honest wage.
And hyphenated only had to do with grammar and not the label of what an American was because everyone wanted to be called an American. They knew it came at a great cost to make this country what it was and to be a part of it was a dream come true.

Five-year Amnesty Bill Under Discussion

Five-year Amnesty Bill Under Discussion
Some House Democrats are having behind-the-scenes discussions about creating a special visa for illegal aliens they believe will enjoy considerable Republican support. Under the plan, illegal aliens who can prove they have jobs, pay a fine, and pass a criminal background check will receive the gift of legal status for 5 years. The plan is designed to attract pro-business Republicans and those who backed the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill by also increasing the number of visas issued for technical, temporary and agricultural workers.
Their plan appears to be to create a bi-partisan alternative to the bi-partisan SAVE Act (Secure America with Verification Enforcement), which focuses on reducing illegal immigration instead of rewarding it.
Rep. Heath Shuler’s (D-N.C.) SAVE Act now has 144 bipartisan signers in the House and Senate. The SAVE Act will require all employers to use the electronic verification system to keep illegal aliens out of U.S. jobs. NumbersUSA believes that this legislation is just the vehicle to give us a chance to actually pass immigration legislation through a Democratic-controlled Congress that could significantly improve the lives of most Americans. "It's the one [immigration] bill that will pass this Congress," said Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus Chairman Brian Bilbray (R-Calif.) in an interview with The Hill. "We have to make this about illegal employment and crack down on employers."
Click here to view list of signers and to read more information about the SAVE Act. Be prepared to see many Republicans on the list. Just scroll down once you click on the link.

Wild Thing's comment........
Another behind the scenes, keep it hush-hush bill.
With the GOP nominating Crazy McCain the pro amnesty fanatic, it is not surprising that this will come up again. It is tragic that the biggest threat to this country come from our elected officials.
This is another AMNESTY bill which the American people DO NOT want. WHERE’s the GD fence that was to built? How many miles have been completed? Signficantly less then the 700 miles which was funded !! And people keep electing these fools!
No AMNESTY !! don’t even know what to say anymore. It’s like a recurring nightmare.

White House Wants $1.4 Billion Stimulus National Security Package For MEXICO

The White House wants a $1.4 billion stimulus/national security package…for Mexico
The plan is called “The Merida Initiative.” The White House has had this plan in the works for nearly a year with little congressional input on either side of the border.
The State Dept is leading the way.
Shannon O’Neil, CFR’s Mexico expert, says that although many members of Congress are upset at not being consulted on the details of a new $1.4 billion multiyear initiative to bolster Mexico’s crackdown on drug and criminal rings, she believes that it will get congressional approval. “There is political will on both sides to help Mexico out,” she says.
The State Dept. disclosed the first phase of the Merida Initiative last October, involving some $550 million in aid for inspection scanners, helicopters, surveillance tools, and case management software:
This partnership would support coordinated strategies to:
*Produce a safer and more secure hemisphere where criminal organizations no longer threaten governments and regional security; and
*Prevent the entry and spread of illicit drugs and transnational threats throughout the region and to the United States.
To achieve these goals, President Bush has requested $550 million as part of a multi-year program to provide:
*Non-intrusive inspection equipment, ion scanners, canine units for Mexican customs, for the new federal police and for the military to interdict trafficked drugs, arms, cash and persons.
*Technologies to improve and secure communications systems to support collecting information as well as ensuring that vital information is accessible for criminal law enforcement.
*Technical advice and training to strengthen the institutions of justice – vetting for the new police force, case management software to track investigations through the system to trial, new offices of citizen complaints and professional responsibility, and establishing witness protection programs.
*Helicopters and surveillance aircraft to support interdiction activities and rapid operational response of law enforcement agencies in Mexico.
*Initial funding for security cooperation with Central America that responds directly to Central American leaders’ concerns over gangs, drugs, and arms articulated during July SICA meetings and the SICA Security Strategy.
*Includes equipment and assets to support counterpart security agencies inspecting and interdicting drugs, trafficked goods, people and other contraband as well as equipment, training and community action programs in Central American countries to implement anti-gang measures and expand the reach of these measures in the region.
Now where did this initiative come from?
It actually came from the Mexican side. Calderon proposed to Bush to do some sort of joint project back in March when they met together in Merida, so hence it becomes the Merida Initiative. In the first year, Bush is proposing $500 million of aid to Mexico and over the next three years $1.4 billion worth of aid to help Calderon build up his technological equipment and police and military forces to combat the drug cartels.
Is there a bill now before Congress?
Sure. It is a supplementary funding bill mainly for Iraq, in which the Merida Initiative is included. It is $500 million as a part of a larger $50 billion package. So it’s tied in some ways to the state of the Iraq funding as well, which is of course an issue in its own right.
Has the initiative gone to any committee for consideration?
This is just added on. So the people in the House and Senate foreign relations committees are discussing this but the administration hasn’t sent someone yet to really discuss the nitty-gritty of this bill to either of the subcommittees yet. So they haven’t really yet started hatching up the issues yet. Congress has complained that its members were left out of the negotiation process.
Usually when there is a major initiative, people from the State Department or the Defense Department go to Capitol Hill and brief the staff people on what’s up. Why was this done so secretively?
It’s hard to know. In fact the House subcommittee on the western hemisphere had asked the State Department to come right after it was really released. The department said, “Not yet. We’re going to come in a couple of weeks with more information.” So it’s a little unclear why they have been so secretive. But perhaps it’s because they were really hammering out these negotiations with the Mexican government and trying to deal with the sensitivities of Mexico.
were left out of the negotiation process.
Also, according to one expert, “Mexico is very protective of its sovereignty and very worried about any incursion of U.S. security forces or private contractors—like Blackwater—coming in to train Mexicans.”
And what does Mexico do for the United States?
Mexico refuses to extradite criminal suspects who’ve fled from the U.S. down to Mexico unless our prosecutors drop death penalty charges against them.
BUT this is not all of it, yes there is more, while seeing all of this at Michelle Malkins blog I did a search online and also found this - Wild Thing
Mexican president to visit US amid immigration debate
Mexican president Felipe Calderon was to arrive in the United States Sunday for a working visit amid a fiery US election-year debate over illegal immigrants from Latin America......Calderon will not be meeting with his US counterpart George W. Bush, despite it being his first visit since he became president in December 2006.
Nor will he meet with any of the leading candidates for the US presidency, whose campaign has highlighted the debate over the US handling of millions of illegal immigrants, including an estimated five million Mexicans, and efforts to build a wall along much of the two neighbors' 3,000 kilometer (1,600 mile) border.
Instead, Calderon will travel to New York, Boston, Chicago, Sacramento and Los Angeles to meet with expatriate Mexican community leaders and academic and financial sector figures.
Calderon told the New York Times in an interview Thursday that the heightened furor over illegal immigrants was threatening the close relationship between Mexico and the United States.
"I'm very worried because this has generated an atmosphere full of prejudice, an anti-immigrant atmosphere with certain themes that are also anti-Mexican, that benefits no one," he told the Times.
"It seems to me the worst thing the two countries could do is make our people think our enemy is our neighbor."
He was also critical of the US approach to Latin America in general.
"What is clear to me is that in Latin America, and in the world, for some reason the United States has been losing friends, and it seems to me it should do everything possible to reach out to the few friends it has left."
In New York their meetings will include financier David Rockefeller, New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, New York Federal Reserve president Timothy Geithner, and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

Wild Thing's comment........
And party hacks are still wondering why 'stupid' conservative voters aren't jumping on the party bandwagon. Unbelievable that the Democrats are the one questioning this. I realize the Democrats will always be critical of anything GWB is doing. The line drawn between the good guys and the bad guys has molded into one. With just a few straglers remaining that LOVE our country and want a soverign nation and want to secure our boders especially since we are at WAR. Not that would be someting wouldn't it. To actually HELP our troops fight this war and secure our borders and stop kissing up to the illegal lovers in our government.
Mexico is NOT our friend, nor is it anywhere near being an ally, and worse yet our leaders are the enemy of our country most of them.
OH and you will love this too, look at this that I found, from the Laraza .com site.......
“the Calderón government hoped that Bush would offer at least three times the $1.4 billion finally agreed upon.”
We can’t—or won’t—control our southwestern border. The Mexicans are actively thwarting our attempts to do so.
And our president gives them over a billion dollars. And we have a man in our own party that has had 3 Amnesty plans and he is running for President. And we are told he is a (choke cough) conservative!
Absolutely incredible! I am so sick of GW not listening!!! And McCain is not going to listen either. He makes me ill when he gets that smug look on his face and says " I will build YOUR fence". Why NOT his fence too this is HIS country for pet'e sake.
Clinton sold us out to the Chinese - a nation arming themselves to destroy us from the outside. El presidente Shrub has sold us out for illegal immigrants to destroy us from the inside. And we are told by Bush that he is a conservative and so is John McCain as he back him for President.
....Thank you Mark for telling me about this.

Who is Juan Hernandez?

WND for complete article
The Hispanic outreach director for Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign is a dual American-Mexican citizen known for his "Mexico first" declarations to immigrants in the U.S..
...Juan Hernandez's position in the campaign belies the Republican candidate's attempt to position himself as an advocate of border security.
"Juan works with us to reach out to the Hispanic community to meet with the folks in the various states," Rogers said.
Asked if the McCain campaign has repudiated Hernandez's "Mexico first" declarations, Rogers did not give a direct answer.
In an appearance on ABC's Nightline in 2001, Hernandez said, referring to Mexican immigrants in the U.S., "I want the third generation, the seventh generation, I want them all to think 'Mexico first.'"
Hernandez told the Associated Press the same year, "I never knew the border as a limitation. I'd be delighted if all of us could come and go between these two marvelous countries."
Last August, Hernandez published a book entitled "The New American Pioneers: Why Are We Afraid of Mexican Immigrants?" in which he argued Mexican immigrants, both legal and illegal, were at the forefront of establishing a new North American market combining the U.S. with Mexico.
Mark Krikorian, director for the Center for Immigration Studies:
"Has McCain offered Hernandez, a former high-level foreign government official who presumably swore an oath to uphold the Mexican constitution, a place on a future McCain Administration? That's not a rhetorical question."
While McCain is now emphasizing border security, the policy posted on his website repeats many of the "flexible labor market" arguments advanced in the Kennedy-McCain comprehensive immigration reform bills, arguing for the necessity of a guest-worker program.
No fence
Hernandez has appeared on various cable news talk shows aggressively arguing against building any fence on the Mexican border, insisting the frontier need to remain wide open so illegal immigrants can easily cross into the U.S.
Hernandez was the first U.S.-born cabinet member to serve President Vicente Fox, operating from Los Pinos, the Mexican White House. Hernandez represented the 24 million Mexicans living abroad whom Fox then called "heroes" for representing Mexico in the foreign nations in which they lived.
In 1996, Hernandez was responsible for inviting Fox, then governor of the Mexican state of Guanajuanto, to speak at the University of Texas, Dallas, where he met George W. Bush, then governor of Texas, for the first time.
.
Wild Thing's comment........
The Republicans are committing suicide if McCain wins the nomination. I see no distinction between Clinton, Obama or McCain. Is John McCain campaigning to become the 44th President of the United States, or is he really running to become the 1st President of the North American Union?
The two biggest at illegal pandering, US citizen destroying, are McCain or Huckabee.
Wtih McCain or Huckabee, we will need big wallet, for taking care of Mexican and South American citizens.
McCain and Huck are the same, but for professed different reasons. McCain, is an establishment bought and paid for elite, likes cheap human capital. Huck is a Christian Democrat who will rob your wallet by imposing state charity to take care of the poor illegals he will provide to the elites.
Hernandez is smarmy. Very condescending. He and Lou Dobbs went a few rounds. This dual citizenship stuff is just the worst.

Chertoff Statement on Killing of Border Patrol Agent

Statement by Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff on the Killing of a Border Patrol Agent in the Line of Duty
Sunday, 20 January 2008 Statement by Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff on the Killing of a Border Patrol Agent in the Line of Duty
"Earlier today the Border Patrol lost a brave agent assigned to the Yuma Sector in a heinous act of violence. The agent was struck and killed while attempting to stop two vehicles believed to have illegally entered the country and were absconding back into Mexico. Our thoughts and prayers are with the agent's family, and with the entire Border Patrol community. I am outraged by this tragic loss. I have spoken to the Mexican ambassador who gives me both his condolences and deep assurance that their government will be resolute in tracking down the perpetrators, and bringing them to swift justice.
I'm insisting that the full force of the law be used in this investigation. Our Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are already on scene assisting the Border Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in this effort.
Dangerous criminal groups have chosen to respond to our tougher security posture at the border with increased violence. They mistakenly believe that we will give way in the face of violence. We will continue to show them how wrong they are.
The American public stands with the men and women of the Border Patrol, and I am deeply grateful for their heroic service."
Information on what happend:
U.S. Agent Killed At Border Identified
(AP) A U.S. Border Patrol agent killed after being struck by a fleeing vehicle along the border in southeastern California was identified Sunday as a 32-year-old husband and father of two.
Senior Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar was trying to stop a suspected smuggler who had illegally entered the country from Mexico when he was hit, according to Agent Michael Bernacke, a spokesman for the agency's Yuma sector.
The incident happened in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area about 20 miles west of Yuma at about 9 a.m. Saturday.
Bernacke said Aguilar was trying to place spike strips in the path of a Hummer and a Ford pickup truck on Interstate 8 when the suspected smuggler's vehicle hit and killed him.
Both vehicles fled into Mexico.

Wild Thing's comment........
But not outraged enough to build that fence. Come on, Chertoff, when are you going to build the fence? How many more BP must be killed? How many more illegal aliens must sneak across? How many more rapes, murders, drunken driving accidents do we need to suffer before you build that fence?
Chertoff - Another of W’s Good Ole Boy Brigade. What has this guy ever really accomplished other than to preside over inaction. Can someone help me out. Am I missing something?
They mistakenly believe that we will give way in the face of violence.
Maybe they believe it because you are putting border agents in prison while welcoming the illegal aliens.

Maryland Gov. OKs Driver’s Licenses for Illegals

Maryland Gov. OKs Driver’s Licenses for Illegals
Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley’s administration is drawing up plans for a two-tiered licensing system that would issue different driver’s licenses to undocumented aliens and legal residents.
Maryland is currently one of eight states that permit illegal immigrants to get licenses.
Under the new system, undocumented immigrants would have to prove only that they live in Maryland, but they would not be able to use their licenses to board airplanes, enter federal buildings or cross borders, the Washington Post reports.
Maryland Senate Minority Leaders David Brinkley, a Republican, is critical of the plan backed by the Democratic administration.
“The state is endorsing people to skirt the law,” he said. “Then Maryland becomes a haven for people that are here illegally.”
As other states, including neighboring Virginia, have tightened requirements for documentation in obtaining a license, Maryland has seen an increase in demand for driver’s licenses from foreign-born individuals, according to the Post.
The two-tiered system is similar to one proposed earlier by Gov. Eliot Spitzer in New York, which does not allow illegal immigrants to obtain licenses. He was forced to abandon the plan in the face of political opposition, and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was criticized for saying it was a good idea.

Wild Thing's comment........
Conveniently located just next door to the nations Capitol. sheesh Can I renounce my citizenship and live here illegally so I won’t have to pay taxes and yet be able to vote and drive?
And illegal alien will be stupid enough to accept such a license that publicly brands him as such. As was pointed out in the Spitzer version.
The ONLY reason the Left wants illegals to be able to obtain a drivers license in America is so that they can then go to the next window at the DMV and REGISTER TO VOTE!!

Texas Paper Credits Texan of the Year: The Illegal Immigrant

2007 DMN ( Dallas Morning News) Texan of the Year: The Illegal Immigrant
DMN ....for entire article
He is at the heart of a great culture war in Texas – and the nation, credited with bringing us prosperity and blamed for abusing our resources. How should we deal with this stranger among us?He breaks the law by his very presence. He hustles to do hard work many Americans won't, at least not at the low wages he accepts. The American consumer economy depends on him. America as we have known it for generations may not survive him.
He's the Illegal Immigrant, and he's the 2007 Dallas Morning News Texan of the Year – for better or for worse.
And this................
If critics are correct, we could be seeing the advent of the kind of fractiousness that bedevils public life in Canada and other nations where peoples who speak different languages, and come from different cultural backgrounds, live together only with mutual suspicion and unease. On the other hand, perhaps the alarmists are wrong. Maybe these ambitious, hard-working immigrants, whatever their documentation, will write the next great chapter of a story that’s still deeply American, though with a different accent. If the optimists are right, much work remains to be done to incorporate all immigrants fully into new cultural traditions.
We end 2007 no closer to compromise on the issue than when the year began. People waging a culture war – and that’s what the struggle over illegal immigration is – don’t give up easily. What you think of the illegal immigrant says a lot about what you think of America, and what vision of her you are willing to defend. How we deal with the stranger among us says not only who we Americans are today but determines who we will become tomorrow.

Wild Thing's comment........
This article is so wrong in so many ways. First of all to give illegal's a nod in any way is wrong from the get go. They are illegal, they are law breakers, they show NO respect for our country and the laws set up already for immigration. Immigration for GOOD people that wait and wait as they follow the legal way to enter our country.
Illegal's that many are not only Mexican but also terrorists and a major threat to our United States of America.
My grandparents, my husband's parents, your relatives all came here obeying our immigration laws. Our leaders, our news media are making excuses for these illegal's and it only encourages them like a high five to keep pouring in by the droves.
A fence unfinished when it was promised to Duncan Hunter and others. Border Patrol Agents in jail for doing their job. WTF
And now this to make the illegal immigrants the Texan of the year is treasonous!
.....Thank you Mark for the heads up on this article.

Glenn Becks Show ~ Duncan Hunter Speaks About Fence

Glenn Beck and Duncan Hunter slam Congress re border fence
.

Wild Thing's comment........
“Now is the time when those who take the threat to our nation’s borders seriously stand up and be counted,” said Hunter.
Considering all the attempts by the political class to destroy it, America is still here. But eventually they will destroy our nation, and open borders is one of the lethal weapons.
A few quotes:
John Adams:
“Remember, democracy never lasts long.
It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself.
There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”
Thomas Jefferson:
“God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed.
The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive.
If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if it’s rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance?
Let them take arms.
The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them.
What signify a few lives lost in a century or two?
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure.”

No Fence For Border Then NO FENCE FOR WHITE HOUSE!
Presidential candidate Congressman Duncan Hunter returned to Washington this morning to immediately begin his efforts to overturn provisions contained in a Democratic spending bill that eliminates current legal requirements for double-layered border fencing. Congress last year passed legislation authored by Hunter, the Secure Fence Act, mandating double-layered fencing and related infrastructure at strategic entry points along the Southwest border.
“Now is the time when those who take the threat to our nation’s borders seriously stand up and be counted,” said Hunter. “Last year, Congress successfully passed legislation that mandated a double fence requirement based on the success of the border fence we’ve built in San Diego. The Democrat majority in this Congress has taken it upon themselves to overturn federal law to pursue a policy that does nothing but harm our border enforcement capabilities. This is not leadership, it is irresponsibility.
“Border enforcement is too serious of an issue to pursue only when politically convenient at election time. If Congress is to reverse its border stance after just one year, what message does that send to illegal immigrants and drug smugglers who are watching to see how serious we are about protecting America’s borders? I believe we must uphold our nation’s immigration laws, support our agents serving on the border and protect our border communities and I am going to make every effort to overturn the damage this Democrat leadership has caused.”
H.R. 2764, a bill that provides funding for several federal departments and agencies, was brought to the House floor and passed late last evening by the Democratic leadership. Not only does the bill contain provisions removing all specific locations as outlined by the Secure Fence Act, it also removes all requirements to construct any fencing or physical barriers along the border. This action basically repeals the Secure Fence Act and undermines past efforts to secure our nation’s border.
H.R. 2764 has been referred to the Senate for consideration and then will be returning to the House with any changes in the form of a conference report. Congressman Hunter is working with his colleagues in both the House and Senate to ensure that these dangerous provisions do not remain in the final version of the funding bill.

Wild Thing's comment.........
If fences don’t work, then Bush should remove the one surrounding the White House!!
He should CONFRONT Bush and his administration ALSO on this subject. If we are hit by the terrorists again and they came in from the southern border illegally will those who forced this reduction take responsibility?
As far as the cost it is a pittance next to the cost of subsidizing illegal's in the form of health care, lost jobs, losses due to crime, and increased welfare for the extended families of illegal aliens. Not to mention the cost of cleaning up after a terrorist attack.
BOTH political parties had better wise up about this because the majority of Americans (according to every single poll) have HAD IT with illegal's crossing our borders with impunity. If anyone doubts this - ask Hillary's campaign manager about her flub in the debates about issuing drivers license to illegal's.
"Good fences make good neighbors."
Robert Frost (1874-1963)
If Chertoff and Bush hadn’t been fiddling and stalling, the fence would have already been built and it would be a non-issue.
Bush and his cronies on the right and the left, knew if he delayed long enough something like this would take place.
The bi-partisan pro-illegal contingent in Washington is relentless and will not stop until there is no more USA as a sovereign nation.
It is true that a man of honor and integrity like Hunter will never be elected president. Then it is because a man like Duncan Hunter isn't slimy enough and too nationalistic. I am disgusted with both political parties. I still will hope he makes it but it just seems the reality is the Republican party is more filled with rino's then conservatives today and they want cross dressers, liars and politicians that pander to the other rinos and the left. AUGH!
If Bush wants to prove to me he has any honor, he can start with redirecting the $10mill for illegal's attorney services to build the wall.....and pardon the two incarcerated border guards.

Firefighter Stabbed -"don't want any gringo here"

Boston firefighter stabbed
The Boston Herald
BOSTON
A Boston firefighter is mending from what could have been deadly stab wounds he suffered early yesterday morning when he was allegedly jumped in East Boston while off duty by a group of Hispanic males who told him they "don't want any gringo here."
Though police are not classifying the incident as racially fueled, the Boston Police Department's Community Disorders Unit is investigating. The 32-year-old jake, whose name officials were not releasing, is white.
Ironically, the firefighter's life was likely saved because he sought refuge from his alleged assailants at Engine 5 on Saratoga Street - the station house he's assigned to.
"Fortunately, those firefighters were not out on a call," said Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald.
MacDonald said the firefighter had gone to Chivas Restaurant in Day Square to grab takeout when "six guys started exchanging words with him. He indicated he was just there to get a sandwich and that he was a firefighter. They pushed him."
Hoping to avoid a confrontation, MacDonald said the firefighter got into his car and headed for his station for safety's sake, but the pack followed him on foot. It was shortly before 2:45 a.m.
"As soon as he got out of his car, six guys jumped him and started kicking and punching him," MacDonald said. "He felt two sharp pains in his chest and knew he had been stabbed."
The firefighter summoned the help of fellow jakes by ringing the station doorbell and his alleged attackers fled. MacDonald said his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
"He's more upset about the fact that he's going to miss several shifts," MacDonald said.
Police found no suspects in the area, but urge anyone with information to call 1-800-494-TIPS.

Wild Thing's comment........
"Though police are not classifying the incident as racially fueled."
Then what, exactly was it?
The 32-year-old jake, whose name officials were not releasing, is white.
What's a "jake"?
Jake, a slang term for a Firemen from wikipedia
Where is Don Corleone when you really need him!!
Police found no suspects in the area...
Somehow I'm not surprised. If, however, the 'hate' crime has been the other way around (several 'white' criminals who stabbed one 'hispanic' man), the police would be moving heaven and earth to find the guilty 'suspects'.

Hoffa Leads Border Rally Protesting Trucking Program

Teamsters union General President Jim Hoffa led a rally at the Otay Mesa border crossing to protest a pilot program that allows long-haul trucking across the U.S.-Mexico border.
Teamsters' Hoffa leads border rally protesting trucking program
Saying he was here to fight for the safety of America's roads, Teamsters union General President Jim Hoffa led a rally Wednesday morning at the Otay Mesa border crossing to protest a pilot program that allows long-haul trucking across the U.S.-Mexico border.
“The big money boys want to have trucks coming through here that are dangerous,” Hoffa said over cheers from dozens of Teamsters and the roar from Mexican trucks leaving the U.S. inspection station on Enrico Fermi Drive.
“Wake up America, fight back,” Hoffa told supporters.
The pilot project, which has been up and running since September, allows up to 100 pre-approved Mexican carriers to send trucks throughout the United States – beyond the border zone – for a year to test the safety of cross-border trucking.
U.S. carriers also can travel in Mexico for the first time as a step toward opening the border to commercial traffic as required in the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement.
The Bush Administration favors cross-border trucking and says the safety issues raised by opponents are unfounded.
The program has faced fierce opposition from unions and independent truckers, and a pending transportation bill would cut its funding. The conference bill that would kill the pilot program is expected to win passage in the House and Senate.
But it faces a veto threat from President Bush, who objects to the bill's cost. If the transportation bill were vetoed, Congress could either override the veto with a two-thirds majority vote or send the president another bill.
Teamsters and other opponents say Mexican trucks are older, more polluting and not subject to the same inspection rigors as U.S. carriers. They say Mexican drivers don't have the same licensing requirements and are not tested for drugs.
“The Mexican government has no database that keeps track of these drivers and no drug testing,” Hoffa said this morning.
U.S. Department of Transportation spokeswoman Melissa Mazzella-DeLaney, who was at the rally, said union protectionism is the real force behind opposition and that Hoffa does not have the facts to back up his claims of unsafe trucks and drivers.
“To say that these trucks are not inspected is absolute
