DREAM Act Fails Senate Test Vote - Hallelujah!

( Illegal) Immigration Plan Fails Senate Test Vote
WASHINGTON (AP)

Legislation to give children of illegal immigrants a path toward legality failed a crucial test vote in the Senate Wednesday, likely putting a final stamp on major immigration measures for the year.

Supporters needed to get 60 votes to advance the DREAM Act, which would have allowed illegal immigrants who plan to attend college or join the military, and who came to the United States with their families before they turned 16, to move toward legality.

The final vote was 52-44.

Wild Thing's comment........

Just an update as to what happened with the vote yesterday.

Yep once again it failed. Now we get a breather till the next time whenever that will be, because we all know they are not going to give up. They will try again. It will be some type of stealth maneuver. I hope Americans remember who the traitors are and kick them out of Congress when their terms are up.

U.S. Senate Roll Call Votes

Here are the Republicans that should be ashamed of themselves:
YEAs -—52

Thank God sanity has prevailed once again!!!! And I know one Indiana Republican Senator that may have a very difficult time getting re-elected if he tries to run again!!!! I'm a little curious since I don't have the info at my fingertips.....how does this vote total compare with previous totals? Are they getting closer to getting something as stupid as this passed? Thanks for the updates WT.

Yes, I am also glad it failed again. Yes, it was a sneaky maneuver. Yes they will try again and in an even sneakier manner. Yes, Kaye Bailey Hutchinson will have this vote haunt her here in Texas. She has a good chance to win the gubatorial race, but she will be criticized and if a good strong Conservative challenges her in the primary, she may still lose.

John, yes they are getting closer. I think they picked up 3 or 4 votes. Every vote is significant in these close calls. If one of these amnesty bills passes the Senate I think it would not pass the House, but if it should, then Pres Bush will happily sign it.

Lindsey Graham's name is not on the 'yea' list, did he get his mind, Right, or is the possibility of being taken to the woodshed by the people of South Carolina too overpowering.

Hutchinson voted against Amnesty last time now she is for another smaller version of Amnsety ?

This bill also had to do with huge Chain Immigration where whole families would get into the country for Free.

They couldn't shove the Amnesty program down our throats so now they are trying to sneak it in in other ways in smaller doses.

One thing, the surge in Iraq is working, one reason is We are Securing the border over there. Why is securing the border in Iraq so important there but not here in the United States.

So far the new fence that is supposed to be built has accomplished 147 miles some progress, yet the illegals are still streaming into our country still unabated and still unchecked.

The open-borders' people want to give these "poor" illegals drivers liscense's yet we can not verify a minimum requirement, their real country of origin. Let alone what their real name is, ... How are we more secure.

Thanks for the info Tom regarding the vote count.

Here's an interesting thought on the subject: Suppose we let them go ahead and pass this stupid Bill or one similar to it. Then maybe the 70% of the American people that are supposedly against this thing can vote all these stupid Democrats and equally stupid Republicans that voted in favor of the Bill out of office. Yikes!!! What was I thinking?!?!?! Forget that.....let's make sure it never gets passed!!!!!

WOW!!! With a mug like this picture of Harry, I pity any kid that goes Trick-Or-Treating at his house!!!! They will definitely think ghouls are real!!!!! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Thankfully it failed. Most interestingly Chris Dodd didn't vote neither did Barbara Boxer, Ted Kennedy(Hic*)and RINO John McCain. Just guessing here, but aren't there a couple of presidential candidates here too? Hiding behind a non vote reveals their true color anyway. I went here to see how my lounge lizards voted.

Most of those names didn't surprise me. But Lott? Is he so pissed at the current Republican leadership that he'd vote for this just to be an azz?

John thank you. Yes success this time, we better enjoy it since we know they won't give up. whew Can you imagine if they used all this energy for good things for our country? That is a dream of course.haha

Tom, my hope is she changes her mind before the next time they vote on the illegals. That surprised me that she voted this way this time.

Mark your right, we are not more secure at all.

I forget what structure was being mentioned but someone said it was built in like 4 months and it huge compared to building this long fence. They were using it as an example of how slow the building of the fence is going.
