Mexico, U.S. to discuss health plan for migrants
MEXICO CITY
The health ministers of Mexico and the United States are to work out a joint strategy Tuesday for caring Mexican migrants suffering health problems along the border, the Mexican Health Ministry said on Monday.
The final plan will be sent to the U.S. Congress that is now in recess, the ministry said in a statement.
Mexican Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova said he began talking about the health plan for migrants with his U.S. counterpart Michael Leavitt a few weeks ago in Geneva, Switzerland, at the World Health Organization headquarters.
"The plan would guarantee basic medical help for thousands of future migrants as they cross the border," Cordova said.
According to statistics from Mexican and U.S. governments, around 500,000 people enter the United States illegally via its border with Mexico each year.
Mexican illegal migrants reach the U.S. border in a variety of ways, many of them dangerous, such as crossing the Texas desert in harsh climatic conditions and risking the attack of poisonous animals, or being hidden in secret compartments inside vehicles facing the risking of suffocation.
Cordova said the health plan would apply to migrants suffering from serious injuries or chronic diseases, who, in that condition, would be repatriated and receive treatment via the Seguro Popular (People's Health Insurance) in hospitals on the border.

Health care in this country is expensive enough.
We simply cannot afford to put another 12 to 20 million people on the public dole. Our pockets are already empty enough.
And making taxes go up to do it would be fiscal suicide. It would put America in a fatal tailspin.
No one would be able to afford anything, including food and good medical care, so no, we simply cannot do this.

Now we are outright going to pay for Illegal Health care, is this going to prevent more hospitals from shutting down, like in Los Angeles ?
They come here with health problems and all of a sudden we are responsible for them. I don't think so.
Edwards is right about ONE thing there is a divided country, the citizens who have made this country work and the sneak thieves who are trying to steal this country from us.
If they persist in this there is going to be a backlash like these politicians have never envisioned before. I don't believe the American People will put up with this garbage too much longer.
I saw this morning that Congress approval rating is down to about 18%, these Morons better wake up or there will be a wake up call and it won't be nice.
The American People may disagree on the War in Iraq, but they are united on the Immigration issue, they don't want their country given away by a bunch of Feckless Politicians, whose day may have started out with their Capichino being cold.
We have got to do more than bitch about it. we have got to start throwing the whole rotten bunch out of office, 525 rotten Pukes at a time, then maybe their successors will realize hey maybe we can deport 12 million of them or at least enforce the law as it should be.
Because this bunch certainly is NOT doing the job they are being paid to do. Talk about getting robbed, this group is stealing us blind.

Maybe we should also be giving the illegals gift cards to our major store chains. And maybe vouchers for rental housing. President Bush and his cronies are on a fast track to get as much of the Mexican and Central American population into the US and legalized as possible. Bush is fast and loose with my tax dollars. He just threw $30B away to fight Aids in Africa. That money will buy fleets of swank executive jets for African dictators.
We Americans have just about lost our government. It no longer represents us, nor does it protect our sovereignty.

This country is going to Hell in a handbasket and our "leaders" in Washington are doing all they can to ensure it gets there.
We have Senior Citizens in this nation, men and women who fought WWII and Korea, and they are having a hard time getting good healthcare and were worried about healthcare for future Criminal Aliens. It's just wrong.
