Angry Blair ‘disgusted’ With Iran

Angry Blair ‘disgusted’ with Iran
examiner
Tony Blair voiced his “disgust” with Iran last night after Tehran broadcast a second televised “confession” by a captured Royal Navy sailor, apologising for “trespassing” into Iranian waters.
A clearly angry British prime minister said the Iranians’ “manipulation” of the British prisoners would “fool no one”.
He insisted the crisis could only be resolved by the release of all 15 sailors and Royal Marines seized by the Iranians last Friday.
At the same time, Mr Blair appeared to be digging in for a prolonged stand-off — warning that Britain would have to show “patience” as well as “firmness and determination” in its handling of the crisis.
Certainly Tehran appeared to be in no mood to compromise. It followed the release of the footage of Royal Navy sailor Nathan Thomas Summers with a third letter purportedly written by Leading Seaman Faye Turney complaining that she had been “sacrificed” to British and US policies.
The letter also said the British detainees had received better treatment than Iraqi prisoners held by Britain and the US at Abu Ghraib.
In the latest footage, shown on Iran’s Arabic language station Al Alam, Mr Summers is shown saying: “I would like to apologise for entering your waters without any permission.” However there is a clear edit after the word “apologise”, suggesting the extract was spliced together from two separate clips.
In other clips, he said “We trespassed without permission”, before saying their treatment by the Iranians had been “very friendly” and he was “grateful” no harm had come to them.
He is also shown sitting alongside LS Turney — the one woman in the party — and another British serviceman identified as Royal Marine Adam Sperry.
Mr Blair, on a visit to Manchester, angrily denounced the broadcast of the latest footage.
“I really don’t know why the Iranian regime keep doing this. All it does is enhance people’s sense of disgust,” he said.
“Captured personnel being paraded and manipulated in this way doesn’t fool anyone. What the Iranians have to realise is that if they continue in this way, they will face increasing isolation.”
Iranian television has already shown a similar interview with LS Turney, as well as two letters she was said to have written to her family and to a “representative of the House of
Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett, meeting EU ministers in Germany, said she was “quite horrified” by the latest footage which she denounced as “blatant propaganda”.

Wild Thing's comment.......
I think Churchill would be taking a stronger stand on this. He would be doing more then saying they needed to show “patience”.

"The Fabirc That Holds The Flag Together"
"Message to the Democratic Party Leadership", from Cpl Mason
"Cpl Chris Mason recorded a video message for the Democratic Party Leadership before he was killed in action in Iraq. Chris was killed by Al Qaeda terrorist. He produced this video on November 12th 2006 at FOB Summerall. This video just recently worked its way to me (his dad) on March 23rd 2007, now I am posting it to the internet for him. It reflects his beliefs about the war in Iraq, the people of Iraq, freedom, why he joined the US military, what he expected after joining the military, and if the warriors lost in the war will be lives wasted."
Cpl Mason was killed on November 28th, 2006 by Al-Qaeda Terrorist forces operating in Iraq.
He was laid to rest December 12th 2006, exactly thirty days after making this video statement to the Democratic Party Leadership.

Wild Thing's comment.........
What an honor it is for this country of ours to learn of men like Cpl Mason and all of our troops that volunteered to serve our country. And as Chris says in the video he made " they are the fabric that holds the Flag together."
I cried watching this video, and wish so much that every person serving now could know with all their heart how much they mean to us, how much we know of their sacrifices they make. Missing their loved ones, their families, being away from home when not feeling great, missing special holidays and the first word their child says. The first step their son or daughter takes and so many things.
Know that always we are supporting you and thank you with all our hearts. And a thank you to your families too that serve in such a special way.

The Straw That Broke The Camels Back

The Straw That Broke The Camels Back
By Angry Old Salt
When I was 10 years old, I fell in love with Lionel Electric Trains. Just weeks before Christmas, and my birthday, which was two days later, I begged my Father to get me those trains for Christmas. My Father who was working three jobs during WW11. (wholesale banana business for small grocery stores in Staten Island, New York, his pool hall where Willie Mosconi played winning three straight games from my Dad, and at night he worked for Bethlehem Steel as a machinist.)
Every day I would bug him about the electric trains while he was trying to take a nap. After a week of this bugging my Dad, he put the box of Lionel Trains on my bed. Then I didn’t want them because I realized what an asshole I was.
George Bush took all the bullshit talk, the UN sanctions and the constant media jabbering. While he wanted the countries of the world to get together and stop Saddam from atrocities of his own people and development of WMD’s.
Years had passed with nothing done but bullshit talk from the UN, our media and THE CLINTON ADMINISTRATION!
George Bush took a giant step and we did tremendous damage to the Taliban. And since we had gazillion troops in the area, why not take out Saddam now? President Bush did what the phony UN and Clinton administration would not do. Mission accomplished!
We stayed there to help the Iraqi people. Because we didn’t have the balls to annihilate the Republican Guard!
My God the Democrats wouldn’t allow that! So we let the Republican Guard go to please the bleeding hearts of the world.
Then the UN came in and got a hot foot and left. Only a few Nations stayed with us as you all know.
GW Bush has kept this protection-armed force there to keep the Iraqi people safe while they are setting up their government.
The negative Democrats and the media picadors kept jabbing and jabbing at President Bush always bringing up how many of our troops died.
Now the Saudi king sticks a saber in Bush’s back.
What the Hell!
Veto BOTH bills of Senate and the House!
And then just listen with hand on ear to the assholes, you know who I mean.
I would say to the Congress and those in the Senate, you want them home? OK, but not on your time frame. Maybe they are sick all this crap you are dishing out too, did you ever think about that? I could care less about the Iraqis! I care about our troops and what you are doing to them.
Yes, my Dad did the right thing.

Saudi King Blasts 'illegitimate occupation' Of Iraq

Saudi king blasts 'illegitimate occupation' of Iraq
King Abdullah says Arab nations will not allow any foreign force to decide region’s future.
Saudi King Abdullah, whose country is a close US ally, on Wednesday slammed the "illegitimate foreign occupation" of Iraq in an opening speech to the annual Arab summit in Riyadh.
"In beloved Iraq, blood is being shed among brothers in the shadow of an illegitimate foreign occupation, and ugly sectarianism threatens civil war," Abdullah said.
He also said that Arab nations, which are planning to revive a five-year-old Middle East peace plan at the summit, would not allow any foreign force to decide the future of the region.
In the past, Saudi leaders including Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal have often criticised US policy in Iraq but have never described its presence there as "illegitimate."
If Arab leaders recover trust in each other and regain their credibility, "the winds of hope will blow on the nation, and then, we will not allow forces from outside the region to determine the future of the region, and only the flag of Arabism will be raised on Arab soil," Abdullah said.
Arab foreign ministers meeting ahead of the summit agreed on Monday to call for an amendment of Iraq's 2005 constitution to give Sunni Arabs a greater share of power in the war-ravaged country and prevent its breakup.
But Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari responded by saying the government did not need a "diktat" from the Arabs on how to amend its constitution and boost national reconciliation.
The Iraqi government has initiated moves to review a de-Baathification law in a bid to woo former members of the regime of executed dictator Saddam Hussein back into politics and government jobs.
Under a controversial de-Baathification law, tens of thousands of members of Iraq's former ruling Baath party were stripped of their posts in government, at universities and in business after the 2003 US-led invasion.
The law has been a major source of grievance for the minority Sunnis, who have waged a deadly insurgency against US troops and the Shiite-led American-backed government in Baghdad.
Iraq's once-ruling Sunnis also want an amendment of the constitution, which they fear leaves their central regions without natural resources and Iraq's oil wealth in the hands of the governing Shiites and the autonomous Kurds.

Wild Thing's comment.........
The Saudis have always been our enemy. This sand lizard only exists because the U.S. has protected the Saudi family for decades. How quickly the Saudis forget how we protected them when Saddam invaded Kuwait in 1990. The Saudi royal family has been the primary funding source for Wahhabist schools (madrassas) and mosques that have been cranking out terrorists and exporters of terrorism. They also back the Muslim schools here in our country. Many of those schools on our land and Mosques that are being watched by our government security as we have all read about.
My guess is from the action in Congress they can no longer be sure the US will "take care" of Iran before we leave, so they need to play nice with Imanutjob. One more blow to America's reputation, courtesy of the Rats.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the reason Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah canceled the state dinner at the White House. Article HERE
Apart from the oil, why we are friends with these people is beyond me.

Active-Duty Troops Asking Congress To Drop Plans For Withdrawal From Iraq
This site is an Appeal For Redress in support of our mission in Iraq.
An Appeal For Redress is an authorized means for active duty military to submit a grievance to Congress. It can be signed by Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard military personnel.

It is authorized by DoD Directive 1325.6 and DoD Directive 7050.6.
The wording of the Appeal is:
As an American currently serving my nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to fully support our mission in Iraq and halt any calls for retreat. I also respectfully urge my political leaders to actively oppose media efforts which embolden my enemy while demoralizing American support
This Appeal will be delivered to members of Congress.
Most service members fully support the war in Iraq and feel calls to retreat by Congress and emphasis by some in the media on negative aspects while ignoring positive ones act to motivate our enemy while demoralizing our support at home, directly increasing the threat we face and resulting in greater American casualties.
Petitions to sign:
For military:

For civilians:

Wild Thing's comment........
What kind of a world do we live in when our awesome military has to have a petition to ask our Congress to let them fight, and stay till they feel the job is done.
I am so proud of our troops, and my disgust that this has to be done does not take away at all in how I feel about our miilitary. It is the Congress and Senate traitors that I am totally disgusted about, add in to that the vile media and their constant lies and slander daily.
I blame the Media, Congress and those in the Senate that do not support our troops for every IED that injuries our troops, for every soldier that is killed. They are in every way helping the enemy as much as they can and I will NEVER FORGIVE THEM!

Iraqi Army Enters "Most Dangerous" Area

The Iraqi Army has entered the militant stronghold of Duwanim, Slogger’s eyewitness sources have confirmed. The rural district falls just to the southwest of the urbanized areas of Baghdad and is known as a base of operations of armed Sunni groups, especially the Omar Brigades and al-Tawhid wa al-Jihad, the al-Qa'ida affiliated organization.
One Slogger source referred to Duwanim as “the most dangerous place” in the Baghdad area. (On a day when at least 60 Iraqis were killed in multiple bomb attacks in Sha'b, this may be a difficult distinction to arbitrate.)
In fact, sources report that Duwanim and the areas around it were so dangerous to Iraqi forces, that they typically would not enter the area, nor perform operations in adjacent nieghborhoods without coordination and support from the Mahdi Army.
The Mahdi Army have a strong presence in some neighboring urbanized areas, such as parts of the predominantly Shi'a districts of al-Shurta and al-Risala. In certain Shi'a mosques in these districts, the Mahdi Army conducts its affairs, ranging from organizational meetings to the detention of suspected Sunni militants, with sources reporting rumors of torture and killing of suspects inside some religious facilities.
The entrance of forces entrance into the Duwanim area is highly significant. Until now, the lawless district was a theater of open conflict and deadly raids between the Mahdi Army and armed Sunni groups. As reported earlier, Iraqi forces have not entered the area for a year.

Wild Thing's comment........
Something about this I find interesting. Our troops have been to some areas that have been called similar things. All VERY dangerous! This article states it is the Iraqi Army now going into the "Most Dangerous" Area. Maybe I am so pro OUR toops that it bugs me a little because I don't like anything to take away from the many areas OUR troops have fought at and still are.

Dems Using Troops as 'Bargaining Chip' for Pork

Your Democratic Congress at Work
from Hugh Hewitt blog- at Townhall
You might think a supplemental funding bill whose express purpose is to support our troops in a war zone would be a serious matter. If you think that way, you’ve obviously mistaken our Democrat-run Senate as a serious institution. Below is a list of additional expenditures, or, you might say, winners of the pork lottery that the Democrats included in the supplemental funding bill:
1) $24 million for funding for sugar beets. Good thing - I love sugar beets!
2) $3 million for funding for sugar cane (goes to one Hawaiian co-op). But I love sugar even more. Especially sugar that comes from Hawaii!
3) $20 million for insect infestation damage reimbursements in Nevada, Idaho, and Utah. Damn insects. Kill them all.
4) $2.1 billion for crop production losses. Remember, this is a bill to support the troops.
5) $1.5 billion for livestock production losses. That’s a lot of livestock.
6) $100 million for Dairy Production Losses. Is there any industry in America that’s losing money that this bill doesn’t offer a handout to?
7) $13 million for Ewe Lamb Replacement and Retention Program. The problem with ewes is you feed them, you train them, you love them, and when they finally become useful they take a better paying job. Ewes are fickle beasts who show not an ounce of loyalty. Even $13 million to replace and retain them won’t do any good.
8) $32 million for Livestock Indemnity Program. Good to have in case your chicken pecks out the neighbor’s kid’s eye. Gotta have indemnity for your livestock. Much more important than funding the troops.
9) $40 million for the Tree Assistance Program. Aaah, trees – the cathedrals of nature. I bet this one was John Kerry’s idea.
10) Provision that extends the availability by a year $3.5 million in funding for guided tours of the Capitol. Also a provision allows transfer of funds from holiday ornament sales in the Senate gift shop. If I understand this one correctly, most of the $3.5 million actually goes to stocking Ted Kennedy’s Capitol mini-bar.
11) 165.9 million for fisheries disaster relief, funded through NOAA (including $60.4 million for salmon fisheries in the Klamath Basin region). Finally, the overlooked Klamath basin gets the attention it deserves.
12) $25 million for asbestos abatement at the Capitol Power Plant. On this one, we got off easy. The contemplated asbestos abatement on Ted Kennedy’s liver would have cost an additional $6 million.
13) $22.8 million for geothermal research and development. Someday, God willing, this research will pave the way for curing the earth’s fever.
Believe me, there are many, many others. This is only a partial list. And, I regret to say, not one of the items above is made-up or a joke.

Wild Thing's comment........
This is from Townhall and Posted by Dean Barnett, I think he did a good job with it.

Bush It Is Time To Dust Off That Veto Pen
Never forget has become Never Remember

Senate backs troop withdrawal from Iraq
WASHINGTON (Reuters)
The U.S. Senate on Tuesday endorsed a March 31, 2008, target date for withdrawing American combat troops from Iraq, moving Congress a step closer to a showdown with President George W. Bush over the war.
By a vote of 50-48, the Senate defeated an amendment that would have stricken the withdrawal language from a $121.6 billion bill that mostly would fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. A final vote on the bill is expected later this week.
Bush has promised to veto any legislation with dates for withdrawing from Iraq, including a measure passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on Friday.
HERE is the Roll Call so you can see who voted and how
- 46 of 48 professed Pubbies voted for the amendment. Cut-and-Hagel voted against, Enzi didn't vote.
- Lieberman also voted for the amendment.
- 48 of 50 professed RATs voted against the amendment.

Wild Thing's comment.......
We must never forget who our enemy is, not only Islam but also the Dems. The Dems want people to forget about not only 9-11 but all the other attacks that the followers of Islam have done. We must not let this happen.
There are 51 Dems and 49 Republicans in the Senate. The vote was 50-48. I guarantee every Dem except Lieberman voted to set the timetable...and Johnson is still out sick...so that means very few Republicans crossed the aisle.
There were two (2) RINOs involved: Hagel and Gordon Smith. Lieberman voted with the 'pubbies.
The reaction against Hagel and Smith should be swift and terrible.
What in God's name were they thinking, handing the reins of government over to the Socialists in a time of war? Sheer idiocy!
All the world terrorist organizations and regimes send their great thanks and congratulations for these 50 traitors!
When the President vetoes this treasonous and defeatist bill ( and he said several times he would) he should go on national TV and address the nation on why he is vetoing this bill. He should tell of how those that voted as they did are aiding the enemy and that what they did is an act of treason imo, it is stabbing our troops in the back.

One Of The Many Things Ramos and Campean Were Fighting Against!

National parks' pot farms blamed on cartels
Mexican drug lords find it easier to grow in state than import
Zachary Coile, Chronicle Washington Bureau
Friday, November 18, 2005 ...note the date and how long this has been going on
Article from here
This article appeared on page A - 1 of the San Francisco Chronicle
11-18) 04:00 PDT Washington
Hikers in national parks such as Yosemite and Sequoia-Kings Canyon are encountering a danger more hazardous than bears: illegal marijuana farms run by Mexican drug cartels and protected by booby traps and guards carrying AK-47s.
National Park Service officials testified in Congress on Thursday that illegal drug production in national parks, forests and other federal lands had grown into a multibillion-dollar business in recent years -- mostly concentrated in California.
"These activities threaten our employees, visitors and our mission of protecting some of the nation's most prized natural and cultural resources," Karen Taylor-Goodrich, the National Park Service's associate director for visitor and resource protection, told the House Resources Subcommittee on National Parks.
Last year, National Park Service officers seized about 60,000 marijuana plants, with an estimated street value of $240 million, from parks in California. About 44,000 pot plants were removed from Sequoia National Park near California's Central Valley. Another 10,000 plants were seized in Yosemite National Park.
The Park Service also has found pot farms and other drug trafficking activities in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area in Shasta County as well as two Bay Area parks: the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Point Reyes National Seashore.
The increasing use of national parks and other public lands for illegal pot farming is part of a major shift in the marijuana trade. Ten years ago, almost all of the state's pot was grown in the "Emerald Triangle," an area encompassing Humboldt, Mendocino and Trinity counties in Northern California, law enforcement officials said.
But Mexican drug cartels now are seizing on the state's mild climate and vast stretches of remote lands to set up pot farms across California. Tightened security on the U.S.-Mexico border has also convinced many drug gangs it is easier to grow marijuana in the state than to smuggle it into the country.
Park service officials said the drug cartels took extreme measures to protect their plants, which can be worth $4,000 each. Growers have been known to set up booby traps with shotguns. Guards armed with knives and military-style weapons have chased away hikers at gunpoint. In 2002, a visitor to Sequoia was briefly detained by a drug grower, who threatened to harm him if he told authorities the pot farm's secret location.
During a raid of an illegal pot farm in Santa Clara County in June, a California Fish and Game officer was wounded and a suspect shot and killed.
"In prior years, guards used to flee from Park Service law enforcement but now stand their ground with leveled guns using intimidation tactics," Laura Whitehouse, the Central Valley program manager for the National Parks Conservation Association, told the committee.
The illicit pot farms can also cause environmental damage. Growers often cut trees, dig ditches, create crude dams on streams, and haul in plastic hoses and other equipment to irrigate the plants. Fertilizers and other chemicals used by growers pollute watersheds and kill native species. Last year, the Park Service spent $50,000 to clean up tons of litter, debris and human waste at pot farms that were discovered or abandoned.
Congress approved a slight increase in funding for Park Service law enforcement for next year, $3.6 million, $746,000 of it for drug eradication efforts in California parks. But federal and state officials say they still lack the money and personnel to patrol vast areas in and around the state's parks.
"It's a $2 billion or a $4 billion problem, and we're throwing $1 million at it," said Supervisor Allen Ishida of Tulare County, whose deputies seized 157,000 pot plants on public and private lands and made 28 arrests this year.
Rep. Steve Pearce, R-N.M., the chairman of the national parks subcommittee, said it would be tough to find more money in the federal budget as Congress deals with rising deficits and is considering cutting many programs. He urged the Park Service to put more officers on drug eradication instead of "writing parking tickets."
Donald Coelho, the Park Service's chief of law enforcement, agreed that more money was not the only solution. He said a coordinated strategy by state, federal and local law enforcement officials ultimately could put a dent in the Mexican cartels' operations.
"Sometimes it takes time to work your way through an organization," Coelho said.
State narcotics officers and the Drug Enforcement Administration seized a record 1.1 million pot plants on public and private lands in California this year, up from 621,000 plants last year, through an aggressive campaign called CAMP, or Campaign Against Marijuana Planting. The street value of those drugs is estimated at $4.5 billion.
But state and federal officials said drug growers were adapting quickly -- for example, planting smaller pot farms that are tougher to spot from surveillance planes and helicopters. Some growers have responded to drug raids in Sequoia and other parks by moving their farms to nearby Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management lands.
Without a more comprehensive plan, "we are just shifting the problem from one jurisdiction to another," Ishida said.
Wild Thing's comment.........
Ramos and Compean are being used as a lesson to other border patrolmen. A lesson that shouts - don't use force of any kind to do your job - just let 'em go. This whole thing is unforgivable what those in power have done to these Border Agents. This is just one story of what is going on, there are tons of stories out there loaded with information on how bad it is.
Then add in all the murder and all the other horrible crimes that these illegals are guilty of in our country and most of them are not even caught.
And look at this about tuberculosis coming back.

Paper or Plastic ....No Now It will Be Bag It

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - City leaders approved a ban on plastic grocery bags after weeks of lobbying on both sides from environmentalists and a supermarket trade group. If Mayor Gavin Newsom signs the ban as expected, San Francisco would be the first U.S. city to adopt such a rule.
The law, passed by a 10-1 vote, requires large markets and drug stores to give customers only a choice among bags made of paper that can be recycled, plastic that breaks down easily enough to be made into compost, or reusable cloth.
San Francisco supervisors and supporters said that by banning the petroleum-based sacks, blamed for littering streets and choking marine life, the measure would go a long way toward helping the city earn its green stripes.
"Hopefully, other cities and states will follow suit," said Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi, who crafted the ban after trying to get a 15-cent per bag tax passed in 2005.
The 50 grocery stores that would be most affected by the law argued that the ban was not reasonable because plastic bags made of corn byproducts are a relatively new, expensive and untested product. Some said they might offer only paper bags at checkout.
"I think what grocers will do now that this has passed is, they will review all their options and decide what they think works best for them economically," said David Heylen, a spokesman for the California Grocers Association.
Newsom supported the measure. The switch is scheduled to take effect in six months for grocery stores and in one year for pharmacies.
Craig Noble, a spokesman for the Natural Resources Defense Council, said it would be disappointing if grocers rejected the biodegradable plastic bag option, since more trees would have to be cut down if paper bag use increases.
The new breed of bags "offers consumers a way out of a false choice, a way out of the paper or plastic dilemma," Noble said.

Wild Thing's comment........
Wasn't the reason why we have plastic grocery bags is because of the envirowackos didn't want us to cut down trees by using paper bags ? Time for a I LOVE GLOBAL WARMING bag give away in San Francisco.
So, paper or plastic was too much freedom of choice for these fascists? They're not happy unless they're telling you what kind of car to drive, where you can smoke, whether you can have a gun, what words are permissable to say.
Every time I was in Europe I would see them use bags kind of like the one in the photo above. They were fine if only buying a few items. But I never saw people shopping like we do with a whole cart full of groceries. How the heck will a person get all those groceries in one of those bags. Or even several bags like that. hahahaha

Thinking Blog Award

Yankeemom has informed me that I have won a Thinking Blogger Award. Thank you Yankeemom!
Yankeemom is a dear friend and also has a wonderful blog. Yankeemom is the mother of a soldier, it is also the journey of her fight against the left in her northern California town.
I feel so blessed, I also got tagged for Thinking Blog by another dear friend Beth at Blue Star Chronicles.
Beth is an awesome blogger like Yankeemom has a loved one serving now. Thank you for your friendship.
It all originated with ilker yoldas at The Thinking Blog, who picked 5 blogs that made him think rather than just answer a simple meme about what his favorite color is.
Since the idea is to list only 5 blogs that make you think, this is hard for me, as most of the blogs I read serve that purpose. I am listing people who I think will "play" and haven't already been tagged and also have made me think and I have learned a lot from.
Congratulations, you have won a Thinking Blogger!

Here are my five, gosh this is hard there are so many I truly love. Because it is hard to pick only 5 I have picked 5 that are my personal heroes for variouis reasons. I am not going to pick just a blog because I know they will respond to listing 5 blogs of theirs, I know that is how it is done. But sometimes a blog I truly admire is not the kind of blog that will be up for this. Too much pressure in a world we need less pressure in. I also picked blogs that are some of the ones like it states....that make me think.
My personal Heroes and blogs that make me think........
1. Something....and Half of Something, Linda is a wonderful friend, my Blog Mom and much more then that. Linda's blog is full of information about Israel, politics and supporting the troops with some wonderful humor as well along the way.
2. And Rightly So, Raven is also a friend and like I stated above a personal hero of mine. Her blog is informative about politics and supporting the troops. She adds in her marvelous sense of humor.
3. Knowledge is Power , SondraK is also an awesome person and a friend. Her blog is unique like non others. Knowledge truly IS power and her blog is full of information and fun at the same time. She discussus politics and is also a suppporter of our awesome troops.
4. Conservative Insurgent, Jack is a friend and I have learned a lot from him. His blog is very informative and his knowledge of the things he discusses shows as he gives not only information but a lot of personal experience along the way. He also discuses politics and is a supporter of our troops.
5. My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, Beth is a friend and was one of the first blogs I ever read. I have learned a lot at her blog, even when she says she is not going to blog anymore she still comes back with powerful, informative posts loaded with information.
6. Daisy Cutter, DC is awesome and a friend. I love how he gives information along with a commentary that he writes. I always learn from him, and his comments cause me to think of all the things that I might miss when my passion on a topic takes over and my mind cannot put things into words.
7. The Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler, Emperor Misha is someone I have learned so much from. I love his passion and his fearless attacks as he comments on things happening. His blog is also about politics and he supports our troops as all of my choices do without fail. His posts are so complete as he gives tons of information which helps a lot in the thinking dept. of learning about something.
OK yes I went beyond the 5, but I just could not help it. heh heh Just be glad I stopped at 7 instead of 20 or 30 that I can think of that I go to every day. giggle
Should you choose to participate, please make sure you pass this list of rules to the blogs you are tagging. I thought it would be appropriate to include them with the meme.
The participation rules are simple:
1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
3. Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to the post that you wrote.
Well I hope you managed to get to the end of the post, be safe and have a great day.

Banned UN Speech: "Human Rights Nightmare"
UN Watch exposes the monumental hypocrisies, terrible lies and moral inversions of the new and supposedly reformed UN Human Rights Council. Millions of victims and 191 countries ignored. Darfur atrocities outright denied.
Speech before UN Human Rights Council 4th Session
23 March 2007
Delivered by Hillel Neuer, Executive Director of UN Watch
For those that cannot open YouTube here is the transcript:
Mr. President,
Six decades ago, in the aftermath of the Nazi horrors, Eleanor Roosevelt, Réné Cassin and other eminent figures gathered here, on the banks of Lake Geneva, to reaffirm the principle of human dignity. They created the Commission on Human Rights. Today, we ask: What has become of their noble dream?
In this session we see the answer. Faced with compelling reports from around the world of torture, persecution, and violence against women, what has the Council pronounced, and what has it decided?
Nothing. Its response has been silence. Its response has been indifference. Its response has been criminal.
One might say, in Harry Truman’s words, that this has become a Do-Nothing, Good-for-Nothing Council.
But that would be inaccurate. This Council has, after all, done something.
It has enacted one resolution after another condemning one single state: Israel. In eight pronouncements—and there will be three more this session—Hamas and Hezbollah have been granted impunity. The entire rest of the world—millions upon millions of victims, in 191 countries—continue to go ignored.
So yes, this Council is doing something. And the Middle East dictators who orchestrate this campaign will tell you it is a very good thing. That they seek to protect human rights, Palestinian rights.
So too, the racist murderers and rapists of Darfur women tell us they care about the rights of Palestinian women; the occupiers of Tibet care about the occupied; and the butchers of Muslims in Chechnya care about Muslims.
But do these self-proclaimed defenders truly care about Palestinian rights?
Let us consider the past few months. More than 130 Palestinians were killed by Palestinian forces. This is three times the combined total that were the pretext for calling special sessions in July and November. Yet the champions of Palestinian rights—Ahmadinejad, Assad, Khaddafi, John Dugard—they say nothing. Little 3-year-old boy Salam Balousha and his two brothers were murdered in their car by Prime Minister Haniyeh’s troops. Why has this Council chosen silence?
Because Israel could not be blamed. Because, in truth, the dictators who run this Council couldn’t care less about Palestinians, or about any human rights.
They seek to demonize Israeli democracy, to delegitimize the Jewish state, to scapegoat the Jewish people. They also seek something else: to distort and pervert the very language and idea of human rights.
You ask: What has become of the founders’ dream? With terrible lies, it is being turned into a nightmare.
Thank you, Mr. President.
Self-proclaimed defenders of Palestinian rights -- Assad, Ahamadinejad, Khaddafi and UN expert John Dugard -- care only about scapegoating Israel. Council President Luis de Alba of Mexico responds with unprecedented announcement that he rejects the speech as "inadmissible" -- and issues a ban on any speech that similarly criticizes the council or its member states. NGO community is shocked at denial of free speech and open debate.
And that is what the Council president, Luis Alfonso de Alba, said in reply to the speech given in the video:
"For the first time in this session I will not express thanks for that statement. I shall point out to the distinguished representative of the organization that just spoke, the distinguished representative of United Nations Watch, if you'd kindly listen to me. I am sorry that I'm not in a position to thank you for your statement. I should mention that I will not tolerate any similar statements in the Council. The way in which members of this Council were referred to, and indeed the way in which the council itself was referred to, all of this is inadmissible. In the memory of the persons that you referred to, founders of the Human Rights Commission, and for the good of human rights, I would urge you in any future statements to observe some minimum proper conduct and language. Otherwise, any statement you make in similar tones to those used today will be taken out of the records. "

The Palestinians' and terrorists' buddies at the UN didn't like this at all.
Thanks to LGF for the heads up about the video.

U.S. Can't Account for 600,000 Fugitives

U.S. Can't Account for 600,000 Fugitives
Breitbart.com..for complete article
WASHINGTON (AP) - Teams assigned to make sure foreigners ordered out of the United States actually leave have a backlog of more than 600,000 cases and can't accurately account for the fugitives' whereabouts, the government reported Monday.
The report by the Homeland Security Department's inspector general found that the effectiveness of teams assigned to find the fugitives was hampered by "insufficient detention capacity, limitations of an immigration database and inadequate working space."
Even though more than $204 million was allocated for 52 fugitive operations teams since 2003, a backlog of 623,292 cases existed as of August of 2006, the report said.
The number of illegal immigrants in the United States has been estimated at between 11.5 million and 12 million. About 5.4 percent of them are believed to be "fugitive aliens," those who have failed to leave the country after being ordered out.
The inspector general found there is not enough bed space available to detain such fugitives and that agents are hampered by an inaccurate database. Other factors that limit the teams' effectiveness are insufficient staffing, the report said.
Until the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, attempts to catch such fugitives were mostly carried out by teams not exclusively devoted to the task. After the attacks, an Absconder Apprehension Initiative was created within the Justice Department to find, apprehend and deport such immigrants. When the Homeland Security Department was created in March 2003, it assumed responsibility.

Wild Thing's comment.........
By the crime reports across our country they all here! Rapes, murders, car jacking, abductions, kidnapping for random... the list goes on.
But then our government gives them the OK, and puts the Border Agents in jail and drug dealer illegals are rewarded. sheesh!
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith
becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of
creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming
in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...
There can be NO divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an
American, but something else also, isn't an American at all.
We have room for but ONE flag, the American flag...
We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...
and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Blair Calls Cobra Team In As Crisis In Iran Escalates

Blair convenes Cobra team as crisis in Iran escalates
news.scotsman.com
Sunday March 25, 2007
The official notification, delivered in secure calls yesterday morning to senior Whitehall figures, was the latest dramatic behind-the-scenes move to get to grips with a crisis that is now engulfing the government.
After a day of shadow-boxing with a notoriously slippery regime, Tony Blair is set to up the ante: the plight of the Shatt al-Arab 15 is officially a crisis and he will need the Cobra team to handle it.
The clutch of VIPs will gather in an operations room several floors below Downing Street as early as this afternoon to plot an escape from a military spat that now threatens to become an international incident.
The decision came just 24 hours after the crew of HMS Cornwall had been caught in the confusion of direct confrontation with Iranian vessels in the searing heat of the Gulf.
As the crew members were surrounded in their two rubber dinghies, the Cornwall's commander, Commodore Nick Lambert, frantically radioed back to his own top brass for instructions.
The response to the inquiry, which had been immediately patched through to Ministry of Defence headquarters in Whitehall, was to hold fire.
The order to show restraint has been observed throughout the forces and the British government in the 48 hours since, but it is unclear how long both sides will be able to maintain control.
Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett's first response to the gathering crisis on Friday was to keep to diplomatic conventions. After a hurried phone call to Blair, she immediately summoned Iran's ambassador, Rasoul Movahedian, to her office to explain their behaviour.
After a meeting described by officials as "brisk but polite", Beckett emerged to stress that she was "extremely disturbed" by events.
It was an understated description of the deep concern now gripping the government. Not only was Blair's administration alarmed at the risk to the 15 military personnel, which included at least one woman, but it was in no doubt over Tehran's ability to use their plight to make a wider point.
During a flurry of diplomatic activity in the hours after the snatch, the Iranians' rhetoric repeatedly elevated their action, and the alleged motives of the British, to a multinational affair. It was the eve of a second UN Security Council resolution imposing sanctions over Iran's refusal to halt its programme to enrich uranium. The Shatt al-Arab 15 were, from the start, pawns in a perilous international game.
"It looks like too much of a coincidence," a senior Foreign Office insider confirmed.
The response was a no- nonsense demand for Iran to relent - and Britain freely used the international community to back up its case. Beckett dispatched the UK chargé d'affaires, Kate Smith, to confront the government in Tehran, armed with the insistence that the British sailors had been in Iraqi waters.
In the meantime, Blair made a personal call to European allies, including EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, to secure a public denunciation of the Iranians' actions.
"It was impressed on everyone how important it was to raise the diplomatic temperature, rather than keep a low profile and let them make a song and dance of the situation," one defence official said.
"There is nothing to be gained in provoking a confrontation, because that would be playing into their hands. But neither should we let them have it all their way. We tried that before and we're still trying to get our kit back."
The smaller-scale precedent, the taking of six British marines and two sailors on the same waterway in June 2004, was a painful lesson. The personnel were only returned after they had been paraded blindfold on Iranian television and admitted entering Iranian waters illegally. Three years on, the government is still pressing Iran for the return of its boats and kit, including valuable radar equipment.
The degree of concern felt across Whitehall was demonstrated yesterday, when Movahedian was called back to the Foreign Office, this time to see Beckett's minister, Lord Triesman. The British were clearly attempting to warn off Tehran before it could begin to use the servicemen and women as a significant propaganda tool.
It was, however, a race against time - and through it all, the diplomats and the politicians were acutely aware that Tehran has built a foreign policy on disregarding diplomatic niceties.
Top level COBRA is an acronym for Cabinet Office Briefing Room A, where its meetings are held.
Tony Blair, senior ministers, police and security chiefs all take part. It is called after events such as 9/11, 7/7 and can evoke emergency powers such as suspending Parliament or restricting movement.
Wild Thing's comment........
I only can pray that these sailors will be safe and unharmed and not killed.
Anyone feel like the worm is about to turn and the Iranians arent going to like the direction it takes?
Blair while in Berlin said:
"Tony Blair has called the seizure of British sailors by Iran "unjustified and wrong," and rejects the claim that they strayed into Iranian waters.Speaking to journalists in Berlin, the Prime Minister said he hoped the Iranian Government understood the "fundamental" nature of the issue.
"There is no doubt at all that these people were taken from a boat in Iraqi waters.
"It is simply not true that they went into Iranian territorial waters, and I hope the Iranian government understands how fundamental an issue this is for us.
"We have certainly sent the message back to them very clearly indeed. They should not be under any doubt at all about how seriously we regard this act, which is unjustified and wrong."

Marines Expelled from Afghanistan! WTF????

Top general in Afghanistan expels Marines
WASHINGTON
The top American general in Afghanistan has expelled a U.S. Marine special operations company for the way the men responded to an ambush March 4, Marine sources said.
Maj. Cliff Gilmore, a spokesman for Marine Special Operations Command, confirmed to The Examiner that the company of 120 Marines is redeploying.
He said the decision followed an ambush on the company's convoy by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device. A second Marine source said the Marines retaliated and some civilians were killed.
The action brought an abrupt end to what promised to be a historic deployment. The unit sailed in January from Camp Lejeune, N.C., as the first Marine Corps special operations company sent overseas. The Corps joined U.S. Special Operations Command a year ago.
The company is now redeploying to Kuwait after just a few weeks in Afghanistan in what was supposed to be a six-month tour.
A Marine officer assigned to special operations said Lt. Gen. Karl Eikenberry, the top U.S. commander, took the extraordinary step of expelling the unit after he consulted with Afghan Prime Minister Hamid Karzai.
A spokesman for Eikenberry could not be reached today.

Wild Thing's comment.........
WTF! So our guys have to get a rule book out every time they are ambushed??? What about the fact that they have to fight combattants who wear no military uniforms. The war will NEVER be won as long as political correctness and stupid-ass liberalism replaces a sound, aggressive military strategy.
Marines are problem solvers! The citizens shouldn't allow the bad guys in, they are part of the problem. They hide them in their homes, and sometimes yes from fear of them but I could care less. If these people want the insurgents to go away to die and stop causeing death then they , the citizens, need to take a stand too.
A Marine officer assigned to special operations said Lt. Gen. Karl Eikenberry, the top U.S. commander, took the extraordinary step of expelling the unit after he consulted with Afghan Prime Minister Hamid Karzai.
Another PC general!! The days of "Blood and Guts" Patton are long gone. And I want them back, screw PC! You cannot fight a war and go around arresting the troops for doing what they were trained to do.
It's a devil's deal, when you're caught in an ambush like this.
Do you simply take your losses and run away? That's the preferred Army doctrine. It avoids civilian casualties, but it also establishes a hunter/hunted relationship with the enemy in the hunter position. That's a direct mental victory for them, and a loss for us. It also encourages them to use these tactics, for years on end.
Do you attempt to engage your attackers? Hard to do when you don't know who they are, hiding as they do among civilians. They're not afraid to die, and they're not only willing to sacrifice civilians, they're trying to get us to kill them on accident. Events like this and Haditha aren't lucky coincidences for them. It's doctrine. Captured training manuals state they are directed to try and engineer *atrocities* that our media will pick up on.
No matter what you do, that media is there, ready to announce your sins to the world, while the Inquisitors from JAG ready the gallows.
"Victory" has long ago been replaced by "don't cause bad press". That's our policy now, and our side won't hesitate to crucify you over it.
Again - when you try to fight a "PC" war, you are going to loose. Our formerly beloved POTUS, GWBush, who looked like a hero when the WOT began, now looks like another sniveling whimp.
I have had it - either FIGHT THE DANGED WAR, or bring ALL of our troops worldwide back home. We obviously are not REALLY going to fight anybody. Bring them home, put 100K troops on the southern border, and just ignore the rest of the world's problems.
What the hell is the next step is for these Marines to be sued by CAIR?? And give the Taliban pay off money?

Iran Plans To Bargain Deal With Sailors and Also Try Them For espionage

Iran: British sailors 'bargaining chips'
An Iranian military official said Saturday afternoon that the 15 detained British sailors "confessed" to illegally entering Iranian waters.
The sailors, taken at gunpoint Friday by Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Al Quds soldiers were captured intentionally and are to be used as bargaining chips to be used for the release of five Iranians who were arrested at the Iranian consul in Irbil, Iraq by US troops, an Iranian official told the daily paper Asharq al-Awsat on Saturday.
Iran ‘to try Britons for espionage’
timesonline
FIFTEEN British sailors and marines arrested by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards off the coast of Iraq may be charged with spying.
A website run by associates of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, reported last night that the Britons would be put before a court and indicted.
Referring to them as “insurgents”, the site concluded: “If it is proven that they deliberately entered Iranian territory, they will be charged with espionage. If that is proven, they can expect a very serious penalty since according to Iranian law, espionage is one of the most serious offences.”
The warning followed claims by Iranian officials that the British navy personnel had been taken to Tehran, the capital, to explain their “aggressive action” in entering Iranian waters. British officials insist the servicemen were in Iraqi waters when they were held.
The penalty for espionage in Iran is death. However, similar accusations of spying were made when eight British servicemen were detained in the same area in 2004. They were paraded blindfolded on television but did not appear in court and were freed after three nights in detention.
In addition, a senior Iranian military official said Saturday that the decision to capture the soldiers was made during a March 18 emergency meeting of the High Council for Security following a report by the Al-Quds contingent commander, Kassem Suleimani, to the Iranian chief of the armed forces, Maj.Gen. Hassan Firouz Abadi.
In the report, according to Asharq al-Awsat, Suleimani warned Abadi that Al Quds and Revolutionary Guards' operations had become transparent to US and British intelligence following the arrest of a senior Al Quds officer and four of his deputies in Irbil.
According to the official, Iran was worried that its detained people would leak sensitive intelligence information.
Iran denounced a tightening of sanctions which the United Nations security council was expected to agree last night in protest at Tehran’s insistence on enriching uranium that could be used for nuclear weapons.

UK Sailors Captured At Gunpoint

UK sailors captured at gunpoint BBC news
Fifteen British navy personnel have been captured at gunpoint by Iranian forces, the Ministry of Defence says.
The men were seized at 1030 local time when they boarded a boat in the Gulf, off the coast of Iraq, which they suspected was smuggling cars.
The Royal Navy said the group was on a routine patrol in Iraqi waters and were understood to be unharmed.
But Iranian state television quoted the Iran foreign ministry as saying they had illegally entered Iranian waters.
The Associated Press news agency is quoting US Navy official, Commander Kevin Aandahl, as saying that Iran's Revolutionary Guard were responsible.
Mr Aandahl is also reported as saying the naval force had told them in a radio message that the British were not harmed.
Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett has demanded the immediate and safe return of the HMS Cornwall servicemen.
She added that she had called for a "full explanation" from Iran and had left them in no doubt that she wanted the group and their equipment back immediately.
The task force's commander, Commodore Nick Lambert, said he was hoping there had been a "simple mistake" over territorial waters.
"There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that they [British personnel] were in Iraqi territorial waters. Equally, the Iranians may claim they were in Iranian territorial waters.
The incident comes at a time of renewed tensions with Iran over its nuclear programme and follows claims that most of the violence against UK forces in Basra is being engineered by Iranian elements.
British army Colonel Justin Maciejewski, who is based in Iraq, said Iran was providing "sophisticated weaponry" to insurgents and "Iranian agents" were paying local men to attack British troops.

Wild Thing's comment.......
it were up to me I'd simply say, "At the end of two hours one of two things will have happened. Either the hostages will be returned, or you will have no Navy."

Ahmadinejad Lied About Not Getting A Visa

U.S. says Iran president's visa approved
WASHINGTON, March 23 (Reuters)
Visas for Iran's president and other diplomats to visit the United States had been approved, the White House said on Friday, disputing Iran's claim that the entry documents had not been approved.
Iran said Washington had so far failed to give a visa to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad so he could address the U.N. Security Council in New York when it meets to vote on new sanctions against Tehran, which could happen this weekend.
"The Iranian comment is false. As the State Department said earlier this week, the visas have been approved," said Gordon Johndroe, spokesman for the White House National Security Council.
State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said visas for 39 Iranian officials -- including Ahmadinejad, diplomats and security guards -- were in the hands of the Iranians as of 10 a.m. local time in Bern, Switzerland.
He said because some visa forms for the air crew were incomplete, those were still being processed.
"At the end of the day, everybody gets the visas that they need in order to travel to the United Nations," McCormack told reporters.

Wild Thing's comment........
What liars Iran is!

Feel The Power ~ Oh Yeah!
The Fairchild-Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II is a single-seat, twin-engine jet aircraft designed to provide close air support (CAS) of ground forces by attacking tanks, armored vehicles, and other ground targets.
As a secondary mission, it provides airborne forward air control, guiding other aircraft against ground targets.
It is the first US Air Force aircraft designed exclusively for close air support (CAS) of ground forces. The official nickname comes from the P-47 Thunderbolt of World War II, a plane that was particularly effective at the CAS mission. However, the A-10 is more commonly known as Warthog or simply Hog.

Lovin that A-10 Firepower!

Rats in Congress Use Troops as 'Bargaining Chip' for Pork
Dems Accused of Using Troops as 'Bargaining Chip' for Pork
As the House prepares to debate legislation Thursday that would authorize more funding for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan - and set a September 2008 end-date for funding - conservative analysts condemned what they said was excessive "pork spending" in the bill.
The U.S. Troop Readiness, Veteran's Health, and Iraq Accountability Act would allocate $103 billion in additional funding for military operations, and to care for wounded troops. But it also contains $21 billion in so-called "pork spending."
Several appropriations are under fire, including:
-- $50 million for "asbestos abatement and other improvements" in the U.S. Capitol.
-- $74 million for "storage, handling, and other associated costs for the 2007 crop of peanuts."
-- $120 million to fund the shrimp industry's recovery from Hurricane Katrina
-- $284 million for payments to dairy farmers
-- $4.3 billion in increased Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster relief for areas affected by hurricanes
The bill allocates smaller amounts, such as $5.27 million for bird flu research and $165,200 for the widow of a late congressman.
Rep. Joe Pitts (R-Pa.) said in a statement Wednesday that Democrats are "trying to pressure reluctant members into voting for this by taking on billions of dollars in pork barrel projects. The money they want to spend on spinach subsidies and peanut storage would be better spent on body armor and Humvees."
Congress is "effectively using the troops as a bargaining chip for their own pork" and called the domestic projects "extremely wasteful."
"Congress is telling the president, you cannot fund body armor for our troops until you agree to give us $16 million for extra office space in the House of Representatives," Riedl said. The $16 million allocation for "House office buildings" appeared in an earlier version of the bill but has since been removed.
Republicans on the committee believe the bill named for troops and the war on Iraq should stick to that focus and not deviate to domestic spending projects.
"This legislation ought to focus on our troops. It ought to focus on providing those in harm's way with the resources they need to complete their mission successfully," California Rep. Jerry Lewis, the ranking Republican on the Appropriations Committee, said in a statement.
For its part, the White House has said President Bush will veto the appropriations bill unless it is changed. "Because of the excessive and extraneous non-emergency spending it contains," the administration said in a statement, "if this legislation were presented to the President, he would veto the bill."
"Congress should reject this legislation," the White House statement continued, "and promptly send the President a responsible bill that provides the funding and flexibility our troops need, without holding funding for the troops hostage to unrelated spending."

Wild Thing's comment.......
There should be a name attached to every add on spending piece. Where's the congressman or senator responsible? The Democrats would like to cut national defense - not to reduce spending, but so they can weaken our military and also so they can piss it away on more of their domestic giveaway programs instead

Leftists Go After Thier Own ~ Police Called To Protect Pelosi

Anti-war protesters arrested at Pelosi’s office
The Hilll.com
Four members of the anti-war group Code Pink were arrested outside the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) Thursday afternoon, following an announcement that they would seek to take over the office.
The group’s members had planned to hold a symbolic "Pin the war on the Donkey” demonstration at Pelosi’s office to show their frustration with the Democratic leadership’s inaction on ending the war in Iraq.
However, Capitol Police prevented the taping of a drawn donkey to the wall.
Code Pink members were crying outside Pelosi’s office. When asked why, Rae Abileah, 24, said she was crying out of “outrage that this is all we can get from the Democrats,” referring to the Iraq supplemental funding bill, scheduled for a vote Friday.
“We’re just heartbroken that Nancy Pelosi has decided to keep funding George Bush’s war, and now the war belongs to the Democrats as well as the Republicans,” said Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin. “We thought we were going to get a change when they came into power.”

Wild Thing's comment..........
LMAO Code Pink and all the other crazies will become the albatross on their heads! Dems run from liberals who run from leftists who run from anarchists....and on and on. Hilarious

Lightbulb Legislation????

Bill to Ban Regular Light Bulbs Introduced in House
CNSNews.com...for full article
A Democratic lawmaker has introduced a bill that would ban the sale of traditional incandescent light bulbs - which are less energy-efficient, prompting claims that they contribute to "global warming" - one day after a colleague told a press conference that legislating a ban would be a "last choice."
As Cybercast News Service reported last week, Rep. Don Manzullo (R-Ill.) and Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) held a news conference Wednesday calling for more efficient lighting options, and Manzullo said "the last thing we want to do is force legislation down people's throats."
One day later, Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) introduced legislation that would set target dates for certain types of light bulbs to be prohibited for sale in the United States.
Democrat Harman calls the bill :
"an important first step toward making every household, business and public building in America more energy-efficient."
"This legislation, while a small step, could have an enormous impact," she said in a posting on the liberal Huffington Post blog. "And hopefully, it can help transform America into an energy-efficient and energy-independent nation."
An average traditional incandescent bulb based on a filament emits 12-15 lumens per watt (a measurement of the bulb's lighting output.) Harman's bill would require all bulbs to produce 60 lumens-per-watt by January 2012; 90 lumens-per-watt by January 2016; and 120 lumens-per-watt by January 2020.
On the same topic this is unbelievable! Look at this story...............
Broken light bulb sparks debate
BANGOR - Compact fluorescent lights, those swirly bulbs displacing the old incandescent type in many homes, have become the darlings of the energy-conscious crowd, thanks to their capacity to both fight global warming and lower utility bills.
But with more than a million bulbs sold in Maine, questions are being raised about whether consumers know enough about the special disposal and handling requirements that come with these well-documented energy-savers.
In one unusual case, a Prospect woman was told recently that it could cost $2,000 to clean up the mess left by a single shattered bulb.
Officials with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection have since said that such a costly cleanup is probably unnecessary. Most homeowners can safely dispose of broken bulbs without professional help, and most Maine towns offer bulb recycling options, the DEP said.
Maine law requires homeowners to recycle the bulbs as "universal waste" similar to certain batteries and used thermostats. Most towns accept universal waste at special locations or during specific household hazardous waste collection days.
Bridges’ trust in the new technology literally shattered this week when a minor incident with a loose bulb turned into a major headache. A bulb she was trying to rethread tumbled from her hands and broke on the carpeted floor of her daughter’s bedroom.
Remembering lessons from shop class about fluorescent bulbs, Bridges began calling around for advice on the proper cleanup procedure.
"I was nervous. Something about this gave me a bad feeling," Bridges said in an interview.
She called The Home Depot, where she bought the bulb, and was referred to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which eventually referred her to the DEP’s environmental response team. A specialist who responded found mercury readings more than six times the state’s acceptable level at the spot of the broken bulb.
Readings a few feet from the spot where the bulb broke were within safe levels.
The specialist referred Bridges to an environmental cleanup company. The estimated cost, according to Bridges, was about $2,000.
"Save 40 cents a month on your electric bill, but it will cost you two grand to clean up?" Bridges said.
State officials, while careful not to downplay the overall threat posed by mercury, said the high levels found in the spot of the broken bulb would only be dangerous from long-term exposure.

Wild Thing's comment.......
You have GOT to be kidding me! So Harmon the Democrat Pinko-Commie lawmaker has introduced a bill about lightbulbs. Can't Harmon think of another way to kiss up to Gore, this is unreal.
Like lightbulbs are the biggest danger to the American people. These dems and their wimpy RINO friends are an absolute waste of humanity. Light bulbs are OK, we should have a bill to ban dim bulbs in Congress.
Politicians should be banned from sticking their fingers into the technology pie like this. They're not qualified to make such decisions, nevermind the fact that they're grossly overstepping the proper bounds on their power.
My understanding is that Florescent lights wont come on in really cold weather. I might be wrong about this, I am not positive. They would be worthless for outdoor use in the northern states.
Then of course the democrats will complain of the toxic waste from the florescent lightbulbs. And they will pass another bill to add like the cost of throwing them away will be very expensive if they have their way about it. They contain more Mercury than the regular bulbs, thus making them toxic waste and this kind of surcharge will lead to illegal dumping of the used bulbs.
A friend told me that if you put them in poorly ventilated fixtures that are typical for incandescent bulbs, they overheat and fail at a far shorter life than the incandescents they replace and can catch on fire.
Sooooo-- we get to pay for them over and over again. Very expensive in the first place, surcharge to dispose of them, and they don't work in large outdoor applications, especially in cold climates.
If this bill passes then I guess we can look for Light bulb disposal legislation coming.
How many Kennedys does it take to change a light bulb?
Three.
One to hold the bulb and two to drink until the room spins around.

Animal Rights Say "The zoo must kill the bear"

Tiny, fluffy and adorable, Knut the baby polar bear became an animal superstar after he was abandoned by his mother.
He rapidly became the symbol of Berlin Zoo, whose staff bottle-fed him and handed out cuddles in between.
At three months old, however, the playful 19lb bundle of fur is at the centre of an impassioned debate over whether he should live or die.
Animal rights activists argue that he should be given a lethal injection rather than brought up suffering the humiliation of being treated as a domestic pet.

The zoo must kill the bear," said spokesman Frank Albrecht. "Feeding by hand is not species-appropriate but a gross violation of animal protection laws."
When Knut was born in December, his mother ignored him and his brother, who died. Zoo officials intervened, choosing to raise the cub themselves.
But Albrecht and other activists fret that it is inappropriate for a predator, known for its fierceness and ability to fend for itself in the wild, to be snuggled, bottle-fed and made into a commodity by zookeepers.
See YouTube footage of Knut here! (Note: commentary on the video is in German)
UPDATE on Knut
Baby polar bear 'will be spared,' proclaims zoo
Knut the cute Polar bear will NOT be destroyed despite fears over his 'humanisation', Berlin Zoo's chief vet said today.
Distraught schoolchildren waving placards saying ’Knut must live! and ’Knut does good!’ protested at the zoo’s Polar bear enclosure following the news that death might seriously be an option for the star draw of the animal kingdom.

But Knut has been spared. "There will be no executioner coming for him, I guarantee you," said Berlin Zoo chief vet Andre Schuele.
"Those who say he should die have entirely the wrong mindset."
His keeper Thomas Doerflein, Knut’s surrogate mother, gave the little bear a washing up brush as a toy to play with when the news was announced on Tuesday that he is to be spared.

Wild Thing's comment.......
You all know how I adore bears, teddybears too of course. I realize that one has to be careful with animals of the wild not to take their natural instintcs away from them. But these Zoo people have saved this Cub's life. The Cub was abandoned by his mother, and would have died if the Zoo had not done what they did for him.
He is precious and has been given a chance at life and how anything can be wrong with that I will never understand.

Gore Won't Behave By Senate Rules

Al Gore Refuses to Listen to Republican Opening Statements
CNSNews.com)
Former Vice President Al Gore apparently will brook no skepticism. Given the opportunity to testify about global warming before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Wednesday, Gore decided to arrive late, so he wouldn't have to suffer through the Republican opening statement.
He was seen waiting in a hall outside the committee room, Fox News reported. Republicans agreed to waive their opening remarks in exchange for extra time to question Gore.
Republicans also objected to the fact that they received Gore's written testimony at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning -- hours after Democrats received it.
"How are we supposed to prepare questions for our esteemed witness when we're basically given the testimony two hours before he shows up?" asked one committee Republican.
Republicans complained that Gore was getting special treatment. The hearing entitled "Perspectives on Climate Change" will also feature Gore critic, Dr. Bjorn Lomborg, adjunct professor at the Copenhagen Consensus Center in Denmark and author of the controversial book "The Skeptical Environmentalist."
Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works
Gore demanded a waiver of the EPW committee’s 48 hour rule that requires all witnesses before EPW to submit their testimony in advance. The GOP minority on the EPW committee then agreed to waive the 48 hour rule in favor of allowing Gore to submit his testimony 24 hours before the hearing.
Gore has violated the new 24 hour deadline extension by failing to submit his testimony – even with the new time extension granted to Gore.

Wild Thing's comment......
Gore plays by his own rules. He's a dhimmicrat, not an American. Gore is running scared I think. He should be as anyone with half a brain knows that Global Warming is only for political activists, a hoax in humongous form!
Hahahahahaha what a jerk he is, a corrupt, sicko...oh wait...he is a Dem, that explains it all.

Enemies of the USA and our Military ~ These people are Pure Evil

Vile, monsters in Portland, Oregon, as “anti-war” demonstrators burned not only a US flag, but a US soldier in effigy.
It ended up confronting the police after the "peace" march and, after some arrests, they tried to lay siege to the jail to free their comrades. The police were ready and it ended in a multi hour standoff(the police would charge the anarchists line, discharge some pepper spray, which caused the anarchists to retreat. Disgusting and treasonous behavior in Portland.
It reminds me of Palestinian terrorists burning American and Israeli flags, they are all on the same side.

Defacing the Abraham Lincoln monument

The jihadis and these anti-soldier weaklings all cover their faces. They are all cowards every one of them. Hate filled cowards! These photos make me sick! They don't deserve to live in America.
This all crosses the line and yet they walk free in our land!! GRrrrrrrr!
