1968 Bob's "Operation Holly" Vietnam
On December 22 1968 Bob's "Operation Holly" performed at Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. This video records that event. The original film was silent, so the audio from his performance at Long Binh Army Depot that same Christmas is dubbed onto the video.
Continued.......Cam Ranh Bay: Bob Hope Christmas Show 1968 Pt
Each Christmas show ended with everyone singing "Silent Night". I don't think I will ever be able to sing that song or hear it for the rest of my life without crying and feeling that I am right back there again with the troops and Bob Hope and the rest of the entertainers. It truly was not the end to a visit with the troops but a beginning of new friendships that have lasted over the years. And each one living in my heart. ~ Wild Thing

Army vs. Navy Game Today At Noon EST
The CBS telecast of the Army vs. Navy game begins at noon EST

The cheerleaders are in the Navy, and they are Naval Academy Midshipmen. They are future U.S. Navy Ensigns or USMC 2LTs in abywhere from 1 - 3 years.

2007 US Army Public Affairs video of Soldiers in Afghanistan (and Iraq) supporting the Cadets of West Point as they get ready to taken on the Midshipmen of Annapolis on December 1st in Baltimore, MD
WASHINGTON, Nov. 30, 2007 – Army and Navy drummers, buglers and cheerleaders stormed the halls of the Pentagon over the past two days, rallying or roiling soldiers and sailors in their wake before tomorrow’s Army-Navy football game.
The Navy Midshipmen, who enter the game with a 7-4 record, will try for their fifth consecutive win against the 3-8 Army Black Knights in the 108th year the teams face off on the gridiron. Despite being 14-point underdogs, the indomitable Black Knights, on hand at the Pentagon today, are poised to soldier on at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore tomorrow.
Lifting a yellow and black megaphone to his mouth, Army Secretary Pete Geren faced the crowd of Black Knight supporters and yelled, “GO ARMY!”
Geren led the throng to the office Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey Jr., who thanked the group for visiting him. He encouraged the vociferous crowd to make extra noise while passing by the office the Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead, his Navy counterpart.
Upon meeting Casey, Army Cadet Cpl. Jacob Frechette, a trumpeter in the band, made a deferential request of the chief of staff. Frechette asked Casey to order him to do push-ups while his fellow soldier took a picture.
“Nobody outranks him, so if somebody’s going to make you do push-ups, it might as well be the highest-ranking guy in the Army,” the cadet said.
But Frechette, who predicted an Army victory in the gridiron showdown, said the only reason the Army might do push-ups tomorrow would be to express celebration. “When we score a touchdown, we’ll be out there pushing,” he said.
Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates gave a somewhat ambiguous message to the crowd after he accepted an Army scarf from a soldier who donned a “Goatbusters” costume, a flippant reference to the Navy ram mascot.
“May the best team win,” Gates said in tongue-in-cheek fashion. “How’s that for diplomacy?”
Army Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Richard A. Cody had an unequivocal statement for the cheerleaders and band after they performed a choreographed medley that included the Army fight song. “I thought that was one of our best military operations to date!” he shouted.
“It’s going to be a very tight game until the fourth quarter,” Cody predicted to American Forces Press Service. “Then Army’s going to win by seven.”
Army Cadet Sgt. Wiley Grant, a trombonist in the band, said he’s looking forward to seeing the first Army victory against Navy in his three years at U.S. Military Academy, at West Point, N.Y. Pep rallies like today’s are the best way to get the hearts and minds of the fans -- known as the 12th man on a football team comprising 11 players -- prepared for the historic matchup, he added.
“Especially after five losses that we’ve had in the past, it’s really important to get people fired up and to get people into the spirit and get them to believe,” he said. “The players on the field are going to do their best, but without the crowd support, the support from the fans, and support from the Army at-large, we’re not going to be able to win.”
Grant said the Army-Navy game is one of the oldest football traditions in history, one that inculcates a sense of teamwork across military branches. “To borrow General (Douglas) MacArthur’s quote, ‘Upon the fields of friendly strife are sown the seeds that on other fields will bear the fruits of victory,’” he said. “There’s no more evident example of that than the Army-Navy game.”
Following in another rich tradition -- the tradition of one-upmanship -- Cadet Brian Kossler led several fellow cadets up escalators toward the Pentagon’s fifth floor, where a banner hung that read, “GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY” Kossler ascended a ladder and worked at unfastening the bolt that held the banner in place.
Minutes later, the 40-foot plastic homage to the Midshipmen lay in a heap on the fifth floor. A sailor who witnessed the act chided, “You can take our banner, but you’re still going to lose tomorrow!”
But those who say Army doesn’t have a prayer in tomorrow’s game are wrong, at least according to the Army’s chief of chaplains. “I pray that God shows favor on the Army,” said Maj. Gen. Douglas Carver. “And my biggest prayer is that everybody be safe as they play.”
Yesterday, the Midshipmen’s esprit de corps was boosted by some of the Defense Department’s top officials.
“I know it’s a great week, the spirit’s great, and it’s a spectacularly important game,” said Navy Adm. Michael G. Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. “We want it to be played hard and played well, and in the end, let the best team win.
“And we have no doubt that’s Navy!” Mullen, a 1968 graduate of the Naval Academy, in Annapolis, Md., shouted as the throng of Navy supporters gathered outside his office erupted in cheers.
Mullen told the crowd that in the spirit of “jointness” among military branches, he would sit on Army’s side for the game’s first half. “And then I’ll be on the Navy side to see the victory,” he said. “Just remember two words: Beat Army!”
“Anchors Aweigh,” the Navy fight song, bounced around the stairwell near the Pentagon’s Mall Entrance as the parade ascended to the second floor toward offices housing members of the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
“On Saturday, I will be neutral, but with some bias,” said Gordon England, former Navy secretary and current deputy secretary of defense. “I hope it is a great game, and that’s what we all want -- a great game between our two great service academies.”
Donald C. Winter, secretary of the Navy, excited the crowd by listing significant Navy victories this season against the Air Force and Notre Dame. Amid the ruckus he added, “The season starts again on Saturday!”
“And one other thing,” he said. “All the good words I said last week in theater about being part of the joint fight and the joint team -- on Saturday, those words are held in abeyance!”
Roughead, chief of naval operations and a 1973 Naval Academy graduate, thanked the Midshipmen musicians and cheerleaders for visiting his office. “You guys are getting spoiled; you never lose!” he said. “We’ll see you there on Saturday; it’s going to be a great day, and we’re going to win!”
After interrupting staff meetings and conference calls in the Army Department corridor, the procession passed before a Pentagon display honoring Navy fleet admirals and sailors who went on to serve as president. Tubas blared before resolute photos of Chester Nimitz and William Halsey, and bass drums banged off near stately portraits of Gerald Ford and John F. Kennedy.
Navy Lt. Elizabeth Griffiths, the secretary of the Navy’s protocol officer and a 2001 Naval Academy graduate, helped organize the rally, which is highly anticipated by Pentagon staffers, she said.
“I think this really gets people excited for the game, motivated for the game, and they just bring that much more spirit to the stadium, which really can help the players,” she said. “I think that the best part about this game is how fierce the rivalry is, but when it comes down to it, everybody’s playing on the same team.
“People enjoy the game so much because the teams are bonded for reasons that go way beyond just football,” she said.
....Thank you John 5 (VN69/70) so much for the video.

God Bless our Allies and all who hold Freedom and Liberty dear. Lucky Strike Means Fried Taliban!
This is the same B-1 bomber that treasonous puke Jimmy Carter tried to kill early on in his pathetic four year tour de' farce in the Oval Office. Fortunately, thanks to 44 States and President Ronald Wilson Reagan, the B-1 was resurrected and serves as an integral and valuable part of our military resources today.

"Terrorists are ‘running out of people to kill" ~ Dem. Obey
David Obey (D-WI) on Iraq: 'We've Run Out of People to Kill'
The Hill
If violence is decreasing in Iraq, it may be because insurgents “are running out of people to kill,” House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey (D-Wis.) said Monday.
“There are fewer targets of opportunity,” Obey said in a speech to the National Press Club.
Obey was responding to a question about reports touted by Republicans that security is improving in Iraq and that President Bush’s “surge” strategy is working. He stressed that military success has not led to political reconciliation.
“The issue has never been military,” Obey said. “The issue has always been political improvement.”
As the House’s top appropriator, Obey has his hands on the nation’s purse strings, giving him a significant say on the war in Iraq.
In his speech Monday, he stuck by his pledge not to approve any more money for the war until President Bush changes course on Iraq. He also offered a spirited defense of a new surtax to pay for the Iraq war, admitting that he knew it wouldn’t pass when he offered his support for the plan. But he said it highlighted the fact that Bush has loaded the cost of the war onto the national debt while pushing tax cuts tilted to the wealthy.
The surtax plan, which is backed by Reps. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and James McGovern (D-Mass.), would raise $150 billion a year for the war.
“That may not be a popular thing to do, but it’s a hell of a lot more responsible than sending the bill to your kids,” Obey said.
Obey is the point man among House Democrats on the looming spending battle with Bush, which Obey called a “manufactured controversy” and an “unnecessary diversion.” President Bush has threatened to veto any bills that exceed his requested spending levels, which together are $22 billion less than what Democrats have proposed.
He also accused President Bush, his allies and his aides of hypocrisy and an unwillingness to negotiate that is immature.
He said that when Democrats were in the majority, they worked with Republicans “like adults” to get spending bills passed.
“I believed that the way politics is supposed to work is that we are supposed to first define our differences and then work like adults to find ways to resolve them,” Obey said.
But this year, he said, Republicans have engaged in “filibuster by amendment,” trying to delay the process and then complaining when Democrats maneuvered to get bills passed by combining them.
“I find it interesting that [Bush] now raises objections, because we are doing what his party did for so long,” Obey said.
Obey and his fellow Democrats combined the bill for labor, education and social spending — which is disliked by Bush — with the military construction spending bill, which includes the budget for veterans’ affairs and is popular with Bush. But Republicans have said the maneuver could stall veterans’ funding.
“That claim is enough to give hypocrisy a bad name,” Obey said, noting that last year, Republicans failed to pass any stand-alone domestic spending bills, including for military construction.
White House budget office spokesman Sean Kevelighan said the difference is that previous GOP Congresses abided by President Bush’s “top-line” overall spending cap.
“We’re in a different environment in this Congress,” Kevelighan said. “Unfortunately, what we’re finding with this Congress is that the reaction to everything is to raise taxes or spending more taxpayer dollars.”
“With time running out this year and not a single bill complete, Democratic leaders may want to start focusing on the work that must be done now instead of blaming everyone but themselves for their pork-filled, shoddy work,” said Brian Kennedy, spokesman for House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio).
.
Wild Thing's comment........
OMG excuse me a second LMAO this guy is an idiot! Yeah...There’s only 5 Billion infidelss left! They are getting si hard to find.
OH how I wish, hope and pray our Republicans USE this baloney in TV ads in the Presidential campaign. hahahaha
The Democrats are grasping at straws. Up to now, they have insisted that what creates terrorism in Iraq is the very presence of Americans. Now that the violence is declining while the Americans haven't gone anywhere, that position becomes less tenable.

"Hero" Performed by Michael Israel in New York
Hero performed by Michael Israel in New York
HERO explores commitment to an ideal. It asks the question: What endeavor would you undertake knowing full well that the odds are you will fail? What would you give your all to knowing it’s likely you will be severely injured or even die trying? What is the greatest possible reward and in that thought, what is the most valuable and priceless thing on earth?
Paul and Chrissie are a young couple, in their twenties, and have started a new family.
Story as told by Chrissie
I’ll never forget that day. My husband Paul didn’t even eat breakfast, he was excited and wanted to get to the fire station early. It was his first week on the job. And there at the door, he stood he stood waiting for a hug from Jessie our adorable 3 year old. When Paul told that her he loved her, Jessie’s face lit up with a big smile and in her tiny voice she said “Daddy, will you play with me when you get home?”Paul smiled and said “Of course.”
I hated that we both had to work, but I was glad that Jessie could go to Gail’s apartment to play her daughter Jen. When we got there Jessie and Jen started playing with dolls right away. And then on my way out the door I heard Jessie tell Jen that her daddy is a fireman. She sounded so proud. I left feeling happy and proud of both Jessie and Paul.
I didn’t know that that day would change my life forever.
They tell me that Jessie got up to go to the bathroom. Right after she closed the door there was huge explosion, the entire building shook. Gail said the apartment filled with smoke. Without even thinking Gail grabbed Jen and ran out.
Frantically she found the fire chief and told him that there was another little girl trapped in her apartment. But, the chief told her there was no way he could send anyone into that collapsing old building.
The Gail heard Paul’s voice on the radio saying he was on the second floor.
The chief told Paul to get out… that he had a family to think about, but Paul’s voice came back on the radio and said that he wouldn’t leave until he knew everyone was safe.
He said he heard there was a little girl trapped in one of the apartments. Little did he know…
The chief was yelling at him: “Are you insane, GET OUT OF THERE before the building collapses”, but Paul refused.
When I got there I didn’t see Jessie and just went crazy. I was going to go in there and get her myself. The chief had to grab me to stop me.
When he realized who I was he told me Paul was already in there. But when I asked him if they were OK, he just looked at me.
Then I heard Paul’s voice on the radio. It was broken up, but I heard him say he it was really bad. He said he was going to try to get the child and make it to a window. He told the chief “You’d better call my wife. Tell Chrissie I love her and tell her to take good care of Jessie, and…” The radio went dead.
I screamed! All I could do was scream. “Paul, its Jessie! IT’S JESSIE! God, he doesn’t know!”
In my heart, I imagined he found her… That he hugged her and at least for a moment everything was OK.
There was another huge explosion, the ground shook more violently than ever and fire blew out the windows. I just fell to my knees. “Noooooo!”
The chief tied to tell me what a hero Paul was and that he went in there with good reason that day. I felt like someone had just punched me in the stomach. I was shaking, delirious about what had just happened. I started thinking “Oh my God, my life is over. Did I say the right things, did I do the right things? Did I tell them I love them?”
And then all of a sudden there they were jumping out of the fourth floor window. It was like a dream. There was Paul hanging on to Jessie with her arms wrapped around his neck.
Paul stood still holding Jessie, his head bowed in a silent pray of thanks. Jessie was hugging him, her head turned back with tear filled eyes watching as the rest of the building collapsed. She said “Mommy, I wasn’t scared. I knew Daddy would come. He’s my hero, isn’t he?”

Wild Thing's comment........
This story and the video really got to me. We lost 11 of our friends (firefighters) on 9-11, friends that we met though one of our nephews that is a firefighter in New York City. In reading the story told by Chrissie (not me another Chrissie) it touched my heart so much.

I had never seen this video before, it is good. America is sleepwalking towards a tomorrow of catastrophic consequences. None are so blind as those who will not see. Unfortunately folks, a majority of Americans do not see, and our political leadership encourages that blindness.

A Stranger in Her Own City
It’s a part of a documentary called “A stranger in her city” by Khadija Al-Salami.
al-Salami’s documentary follows a fabulous, spunky 13 year old girl - Najmia in Yemen. Najmia refuses to wear the veil, despite it being a social compulsion. She is laughed at, hears taunts all day. But she has a mind of her own.
This young girl has a mind of her own, to be like that in her land is dangerous. The video shows how she is well aware of the danger.

Police Use Taser On UF Student During Kerry Speech
Police Use Taser On UF Student During Kerry Speech
Police used a Taser on and arrested a University of Florida student Monday when he attempted to speak at a forum with U.S. Sen. John Kerry during a question and answer session, university officials said.
Andrew Meyer, 21, asked Kerry why he did not contest the 2004 presidential election, which he lost to President Bush, and why there had been no moves to impeach Bush.
"He apparently asked several questions -- he went on for quite awhile -- then he was asked to stop," university spokesman Steve Orlando said. "He had used his allotted time. His microphone was cut off then he became upset."
While as many as four police officers tried to remove Meyer from the forum, he yelled for help and asked, "What did I do?" Minutes after Meyer started speaking, he was stunned.
Meyer was charged with resisting an officer and disturbing the peace, according to Alachua County jail records. No bond had been set. Meyer was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning, a jail official said.
Orlando said university police would conduct an internal investigation on the incident.
"The police department does have a standard procedure for when they use force, including when they use a Taser," Orlando said. "That is what the internal investigation would address -- whether the proper procedures were followed, whether the officers acted appropriately."
The event was sponsored by the UF student government speaker's bureau, according to a news release. A telephone message left at the speaker's bureau office was not immediately returned Monday evening.

Turbin Durbin Says Surge Is Success But Politically Not
Senators Durbin and Casey are in Iraq, and were interviewed this morning by CNN's John Roberts (video below). Senator Durbin made the first attempt to recognize the success of the surge and dismiss it in one breath:
SEN. DICK DURBIN: There were two important parts of this story, the military type as Senator Casey said the men and women were doing their best and making real progress. We found that today as we went to a forward base. The fifth year of the war, it's the first time we're putting troops on the ground to intercept al Qaeda. There's another side to this story the Brookings institution shouldn't miss. As we are seeing military progress, any political scene is discouraging. We are seeing the al Maliki government once branded the government of unity coming apart. We are seeing Sunnis and others leaving and not becoming the stability of this country.

Wild Thing's comment........
Durbin is part of the enemy within, his past cannot be erased by going to Iraq then being on CNN, and trying to make a half assed statement like he does on this video.
Heck yes the surge is working and all of us konw it. We also know the progaganda of the left to say it is not working over and over.
Posing to take credit for surge’s success.
Faced with the undeniable fact of the Anbar awakening (well, almost undeniable), the Democrats have subtly shifted from Reid’s and Pelosi’s and Edwards’s line that the surge has failed to the more nuanced (and more accurate) line that the political process has failed.
OK, so he's saying that the military solution is working and the political solution doesn't? Isn't this exactly 180 degrees out of synch with what they've been saying all along?
It must be hard to be a Democrat! LMAO What a jerk Durbin is.

Hillary and Edwards Planning To 86 Other Dems In Race ~ LOL
Hillary & Edwards' Secret to 86 Other Dems in Pres. Debates (Conspiring Caught On Tape!!!)
At the end of an NAACP Presidential Forum in Detroit in which fringe candidates Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich repeatedly upstaged the top two tiers, John Edwards approached Hillary Clinton at her podium and, perhaps forgetting that microphones were still on, can clearly be heard saying "we should think about at some point... maybe some time in the fall, we'll try to have a more serious debate with a smaller group of people."
Hillary agreed with Edwards, saying "We've got to cut the numbers of these, because they are just being trivialized." Edwards responded "And they're not serious. They're not serious," then walked away. Hillary caught up to him to add "I think there was an effort by our campaign to do that, but it somehow got detoured," saying "We've gotta get back to it." While shaking Dennis Kucinich's hand, she added "our guys should talk."
But wait.......there's more..........
Feeling "Betrayed," Kucinich Rips Edwards on Debate Remarks
An angry Dennis Kucinich lashed out at John Edwards on Friday, saying his Democratic rival showed "a consistent lack of integrity" by suggesting fewer candidates should participate in presidential forums and then trying to explain his remark to reporters.
"This is a serious matter and I'm calling him on it," Kucinich, an Ohio congressman, said in a telephone interview Friday. "Whispering, trying to rig an election, then denying what's going on and making excuses. It all reflects a consistent lack of integrity."
He is sending Edwards a letter challenging him to “direct one-on-one debate on the most critical issues facing the American people: the war in Iraq; healthcare, trade and the environment.”
The Ohio congressman has also done the same with Clinton. Copies of both letters were provided to ABC News by the Kucinich campaign.
Although former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel was by far the biggest bomb thrower at Thursday’s Democratic forum sponsored by the NAACP, the Edwards-Kucinich angle is a juicy one.
Edwards and Kucinich struck a deal on the eve of the 2004 Iowa caucuses: they agreed to send their supporters each others’ way if one of them was not getting the votes needed to remain “viable” under Iowa’s arcane caucus rules. (LINK)
"Both of us believe in a lot of the same things,” Edwards said at the time, “and we like each other very much.”
All of that has now changed.
"He feels betrayed,” Kucinich spokesman Andy Juniewicz tells ABC News. “He supported Edwards in the past, especially in Iowa, and now the senator seems to be engaging in a course of action that would exclude the congressman from being able to address the American public as a presidential candidate.”
In a Friday interview with Radio Iowa about his caught-on-tape moment, Edwards said he’s “happy to consider any option” when it comes to debates, “anything that will allow the voters to have more specific information about what we want to do as president.”

Wild Thing's comment........
LOL this Video is so funny. Caught in the act! My favorite part is right in the middle of Hillary conspiring with Edwards over dumping the lower tier candidates.
Evidence Hillary is a backstabbing candidate that has been weened on the ideals of socialism. Clinton desires to squelch freedom of debate, freedom of speech and free thought.
And regarding Kucinich ......
Cat fight! One wuss, calling another wuss a wuss. Wuss I hadn’t said that.
Betrayed by a Democrat - who would've believed it (certainly not our troops in Vietnam and Iraq!, right not much just on a regular basis) ------- lie down with dogs, gst up with fleas, Dennis!!!!!

Some of Iraq's Insurgents Working Alongside US Troops
BAGHDAD — U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Kevin J. Bergner, spokesman for Multi-National Force-Iraq held an operational update on al-Qaeda in Iraq Wednesday at the Combined Press Information Center. Bergner named al-Qaeda in Iraq as the principal near-term threat to Iraq.
“The government of Iraq, Iraqi security forces and Coalition forces are engaged in a tough fight against al-Qaeda and in particular it’s extremist ideology and leadership,” said Bergner.
However, Bergner said both Iraqi and Coalition forces are making progress in the fight against al-Qaeda.
“We are pursuing those who run those networks, and we are enabled by increasing amounts of information from local citizens and increasing resolve by the Iraqi people to fight al-Qaeda,” he said.
Bergner said Coalition forces captured or killed 26 high level al-Qaeda leaders during May and June of this year along with hundreds of al-Qaeda members.
“We are conducting operations throughout Iraq,” he said, “with particular effectiveness in Mosul and Baghdad.”
Operations are also impacting al-Qaeda’s infrastructure, Bergner said. Last month Al-Furqan Media productions, an al-Qaeda media center near Samarra, was uncovered. The facility was a major media production and distribution center producing CDs, DVDs, posters, pamphlets, and web-related propaganda products. The facility contained documents clearly identifying al-Qaeda’s intent to use media as a weapon, said Bergner.
Bergner went on to say that Coalition forces are “taking the fight to the enemy before they have the opportunity to strike at innocent civilians in population centers.”
This month Coalition forces thwarted an al-Qaeda effort to attack Ramadi, said Bergner. The successful operation resulted in 35 al-Qaeda terrorists being killed and three others being captured.
“This engagement was an example of Coalition forces operating in areas that have served as al-Qaeda sanctuaries in the past,” said Bergner.
Bergner said while operations against al-Qaeda continue, the Coalition is supporting the Iraqi government in restoring basic services to areas once dominated by al-Qaeda.
“The Iraqi government has now restored food and medical shipments to Baquba for the first time in some 10 months,” said Bergner.

White House Debate Is Rising on Iraq Pullback
All those in our government, Democrats and rino's need to listen to Reagan's speech!!!!
Reagan - A Time For Choosing
In White House, Debate Is Rising on Iraq Pullback
White House officials fear that the last pillars of political support among Senate Republicans for President Bush’s Iraq strategy are collapsing around them, according to several administration officials and outsiders they are consulting. They say that inside the administration, debate is intensifying over whether Mr. Bush should try to prevent more defections by announcing his intention to begin a gradual withdrawal of American troops from the high-casualty neighborhoods of Baghdad and other cities.
Mr. Bush and his aides once thought they could wait to begin those discussions until after Sept. 15, when the top field commander and the new American ambassador to Baghdad are scheduled to report on the effectiveness of the troop increase that the president announced in January. But suddenly, some of Mr. Bush’s aides acknowledge, it appears that forces are combining against him just as the Senate prepares this week to begin what promises to be a contentious debate on the war’s future and financing.
Four more Republican senators have recently declared that they can no longer support Mr. Bush’s strategy, including senior lawmakers who until now had expressed their doubts only privately. As a result, some aides are now telling Mr. Bush that if he wants to forestall more defections, it would be wiser to announce plans for a far more narrowly defined mission for American troops that would allow for a staged pullback, a strategy that he rejected in December as a prescription for defeat when it was proposed by the bipartisan Iraq Study Group.
Gates has been quietly pressing for a pullback that could roughly halve the number of combat brigades now patrolling the most violent sections of Baghdad and surrounding provinces by early next year. The remaining combat units would then take up a far more limited mission of training, protecting Iraq’s borders and preventing the use of Iraq as a sanctuary by Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia, a Sunni Arab extremist group that claims to have an affiliation with Osama bin Laden’s network, though the precise relationship is unknown.
President Bush has repeatedly said that he wants as much time as possible for his 30,000-troop increase to show results. And publicly, administration officials insist that the president has no plans for a precipitous withdrawal — but the key word seems to be “precipitous,” and they appear to be recalibrating their message.

Wild Thing's comment.........
The rotation of some units is NOT going according to what we have been told by the DoD,,,Friday,July 13 2007,,, the 2BCT 10th.Mt.Div.will have been in combat for 15 months, They have been told(sometime ago)that their return time is now the middle of November,,,19 months in country,,, Why ? Nobody to replace them,,,Sept 15 is the "push come to shove" date for the iraqi army/etc. ...tipping-point ?,,, The very worst thing to do is a pull-out.
We need to put this situation into perspective:
We have been in Iraq for four years and we lost 3,500 Troops. In four years of WWII, we almost lost 500,000 Troops. During the first twenty one days on Iwo, we averaged a thousand losses a day. We have been in Iraq for four years and lost 3,500 Troops, right? Well, that is the middle of the fourth day on Iwo Jima. 52,000 fell in two years of Korea. Our bloodiest day took place in 4 hours not four years. We saw 22,000 casualties in fours hours at Antietam.
What happened to the words, 'we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival of liberty"?
I'll tell you what happened, the Demorats silenced those words and now a mess of RINOs like Lugar and Domenici are silencing those words. Along with our media, the leaders of the Demoratic Party, and the RINOs need to grow a back bone, pickup a weapon, and stand a post. We need to show our Troops and our enemy resolve.
And just one more thing.....this quote by Reagan ( not from the video)..............
"I don't think you can overstate the importance that the rise of Islamic fundamentalism will have to the rest of the world in the century ahead-especially if, as seems possible, its most fanatical elements get their hands on nuclear and chemical weapons and the means to deliver them against their enemies." --Ronald Reagan

John Smeaton Kicked Terrorist Butt
Meet John Smeaton: One Kick and He Is The Hero of Glasgow
Airport Baggage Handler 'Just Set Aboot' Attacker; Fans Send Beer Money
GLASGOW -- Last Saturday afternoon, baggage handler John Smeaton was standing in front of Glasgow Airport smoking a cigarette when a Jeep Cherokee burst into flames nearby. He watched its burning driver emerge. A police officer pursued the passenger.
What happened next has turned Mr. Smeaton, 31 years old, into an unlikely folk hero. When he saw the passenger hitting the officer, Mr. Smeaton ran over and kicked the assailant.
Mr. Smeaton has been interviewed on the BBC, CNN and other networks about his response to the attack in which two suspected terrorists attempted to ram into the airport's main terminal.
Mr. Smeaton voiced a defiance that has turned him into a de facto spokesman for Glasgow's fighting spirit. His message to terrorists:
"You come to Glasgow, we don't stand for it," he says. "We'll just set aboot ye." (Translation: "In Glasgow, we'll just deck you.")
As to all the attention he has been getting John Smeaton has described his role more modestly.
"I did nothing special," Mr. Smeaton said. "I just ran in and booted a guy."

Wild Thing's comment........
The terrorists will never know the kind of spirit that exists in people like John Smeaton and many others around the world. People that when an attack happens they react to help others, or do what they can to keep the attack from happening. I am glad when they point out those that do take a stand, that do something like this, it is right in the face for every terrorist to see how much appreciated it is. And how that spirit cannot be killed off ever.

White House Conference on the Americas
Special Briefing on Upcoming White House Conference on the Americas
Thomas A. Shannon, Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs
U.S. Department of State
Washington, DC
July 6, 2007(4:00 p.m. EDT)
ASSISTANT SECRETARY SHANNON: "Thank you all for coming. This is actually a test to see how many people were here on a Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., but we appreciate your presence. We just really wanted -- very briefly wanted to let you all know something that you're probably aware of already, but on Monday, July 9th, the President and Mrs. Bush will host a White House Conference on the Americas at the Hyatt Crystal City Hotel in Arlington, Virginia.
This conference will bring together voluntary organizations, nongovernmental organizations, the private sector, and foundations to discuss and highlight the vast array of societal interaction between the United States and its neighbors to better the lives of the region's citizens. You might recall that the President indicated that he would call such a conference during his March 5th speech at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce before his trip to the region.
And in that speech, the President said, and I'll quote, "Today, the most important ties between North and South America are not government to government, hey are people to people. And these ties are growing. These ties are growing because of our churches and faith-based institutions, which understand that the call to love our neighbors as ourselves does not stop at our borders."
And the conference itself will highlight the themes of that speech. The topics will include investing in education, strengthening healthcare, expanding economic opportunity at the grassroots level, and building public-private partnerships. It will look at how we, as a country, government, private sector, and ordinary citizens work together with our neighbors to better their lives and advance the cause of social justice in the Americas. Representatives of approximately 150 regional-based organizations and approximately 70 U.S.-based groups have been invited to attend the event.
The President will open the conference by participating in a conversation with a selection of invitees from the hemisphere and the United States about their experiences helping the region's citizens. The First Lady will give the keynote address during lunch and the conference will have participation from a variety of cabinet members. Under Secretary Hughes, Under Secretary Fore, and other State Department officials will participate in the program.
Again, as I mentioned, this is a conference that the President had foreshadowed in his earlier speech. As the President's trip was all about how our engagement in the region was focused on the region's social agenda: on fighting poverty, fighting inequality, and fighting social exclusion and how our political engagement and our foreign assistance was directed at that agenda.
This conference is really designed to show that it's not just the United States Government that is connecting with the region in response to this social agenda and in pursuit of social justice, but that it's the United States as a society which is engaging the region.
But more importantly, that the region itself is engaging with us and engaging among the different countries in the region and that there really is what Secretary Rice, in a speech she gave at the Council of the Americas event, referred to as an alliance of peoples, and that the degree of interaction and assistance from the private sector, from faith-based institutions, from civil society, and from charities is profound in the region.
And in the Western Hemisphere, as in other parts of the world, economists estimate that for every one dollar of official development assistance, there is about four dollars of unofficial or private development assistance coming from churches, coming from universities, coming from private sector groups. And this is a profound wellspring of support for the cause of social justice in the region, but I think it highlights the resources that are available, but also how we need to kind of bring this up, kind of allow it to emerge -- you know, from -- in the public view so people have a better understanding of it, better understanding of the connections that exist within the region, and also that these groups themselves begin to develop contact with each other so they can share best practices and in appropriate ways, work together to channel their resources."
from Wild Thing .>>>>.......If you want to continue on for the rest of the briefing it is questions and answers, and also very telling as well. Just CLICK HERE FOR THE REST OF THE BREIFING...... from the U.S. Department of State.

Wild Thing's comment..........

Oh, there's that most favorite buzz phrase of the Socialists and Communists. "Social Justice."
This is why the ILLEGAL Amnesty bill had to pass so fast!!! I bet there was a scheduled meeting with Kennedy & McCain to present the new bill to this group and show how much the US loves its neighbors.
And here is the schedule for the day for the White House Conference on the America's.
And just this that I have to add to this post.

Excellent Duncan Hunter Interview
Two different videos that are really excellent!!
Lou Dobbs Tonight 03.29.07 - Duncan Hunter Interview
And also this that is not in the interview:
Duncan HUnter on Keeping American Industry and Jobs in the U.S.
"American workers are the most productive and innovative labor force in the world. Unfortunately, they are asked to compete in an unfair environment against other workers who make only a fraction of a living wage and are employed by companies that face few, if any, responsibilities to the environment or the long-term prospects of their employees. Our domestic manufacturers are forced to compete against foreign companies that benefit from their country’s currency and regulatory regimes. Ominously, China is cheating on trade and using billions of American trade dollars to build ships, planes and missiles at an alarming rate while, at the same time, taking millions of American jobs. I will reverse this “one-way street” with a new policy of fair trade for the American worker."
You can see the video with this statement jsut go HERE. This Video is excellent as well.

Wild Thing's comment...........
Duncan Hunter is the only candidate running at this time who has a record of dealing with border issues, the border fence and authoring bills.

Sean Hannity and Ohio Senator George Voinovich
Notes from Hot Air
"A travesty. He’s the personification of the bill’s ills: ignorant of and incurious about its weaknesses, confused as to what’s in it and what isn’t (per his comments about Kay Bailey Hutchison’s amendment), and worst of all brimming with arrogance at the nerve of conservative proles to be angry about this issue. This clip ought to push those confidence-in-Congress poll numbers into single digits, assuming they’re not there already.”“He also appears to have only the vaguest sense of what the Fairness Doctrine is. Rest easy tonight knowing that in these capable hands may rest the fate of the nation’s immigration policy.”

Wild Thing's comment..........
He hid behind his indignation in an attempt to hide how completely clueless he was about what was in the bill and how it would impact American taxpayers. He also used the "I won't be intimidated..." line, referring to We, The People Peasants who have been calling and emailing to say there will be a political consequence to his votes.

Fred Thompson has suggested you are pandering to bloggers who he calls "fringe anti-American elements" who think that 9/11 attacks were an inside job, and that you're also encouraging our enemies. What's your response?

Ignacio Ramos reported in 'emaciated' condition
A video of when this all happened that sent Ramos and Compean to prison.
Ignacio Ramos reported in 'emaciated' condition
Congressional aide says Border Patrol agent 'languishing in solitary'
A congressional aide who visited Ignacio Ramos in prison said the convicted Border Patrol agent appeared emaciated, losing more than 30 pounds in solitary confinement.
Ramos, who is appealing his 11-year sentence for the non-lethal shooting of a Mexican drug smuggler, has been in a "special housing unit" since he was beaten by inmates in February at the medium-security Federal Correctional Complex in Yazoo City, Miss., said Tara Setmayer, spokeswoman for Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif.
"He was very happy to see me, but, overall, he was very emotional," Setmayer said. "He is demoralized. Languishing in solitary for 135 days takes its toll on anyone."
The men who bloodied Ramos with kicks from steel-toed boots are in the same unit, Setmayer said.
Although the prison tries to make a distinction, she noted, "the protective measures are punitive, so he suffers all of the same restrictions as those there for disciplinary reasons."
A lockdown had been implemented prior to Setmayer's visit June 11, and Ramos had not received a hot meal in two days, Setmayer said.
Ramos' wife, Monica, visited him Monday and reported he was in the same condition.
Charles Smith, spokesman for the Yazoo City prison, said he could not comment on Ramos, or any prisoner, without the prisoner's written permission.
Ramos and Border Patrol colleague Jose Compean are serving sentences for their actions in the shooting of drug smuggler Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila-Aldrete as he fled back to Mexico after driving across the border with 742 pounds of marijuana in February 2005. U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton gave the smuggler immunity to serve as the government's star witness and testify against the border agents. While under immunity, the smuggler was caught in another drug delivery, but the judge sealed that information from the jury.
Setmayer also visited Ramos just days after the February assault, witnessing his injuries first hand.
"It was one of the most emotionally intense things I've ever experienced," she said. "The hardest thing was walking out of the facility while they were handcuffing him and taking him away."
Setmayer said that while she didn't have to see bruises this time, she saw an "emaciated officer."
"It just emboldens us even more so," she said of congressional efforts on behalf of the agents, including a resolution calling for pardons. "It was encouraging for him to find out our efforts are moving forward full steam ahead."
Rohrabacher has requested a hearing on the case before the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on International Organizations, Human Rights and Oversight. Among its aims, the panel wants to examine possible influence by the Mexican government on the case. Sutton has said he is willing to testify.
The Mexican Consulate sought the prosecution of Ramos and Compean, and also Hernandez.
Setmayer said her office has been "stonewalled" by the Department of Justice in an attempt to get details of Davila's immunity agreement and of a second attempt by him to deliver a load of marijuana across the border.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., chairwoman of the Senate Judiciary Terrorism, Technology and Homeland Security subcommittee, also is examining the case.
Setmayer said more Congress members have signed on to a bill by Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., that calls for the two agents to be pardoned.
She pointed out the case has received attention recently amid discussion of whether President Bush should pardon convicted former White House aide Lewis Libby. Presidential candidates Hunter and Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., have asked how the president can consider pardoning Libby if he doesn't pardon Ramos and Compean.
Rohrabacher says he will not endorse anyone for president who doesn't commit to pardoning the two agents.

Wild Thing's comment............
This is just so wrong!!!! It used to be there were good guys in the white hats that rode in to town. Well most had white hats, except for Hopalong Cassidy. The good guys tracked down and found the bad guys, and the town and Mayor of the town cheered the good guys on.
More and more the world is turned upside down, and the local Mayor ( our government for the most part) gives favor to the bad guys and punishes the good guys.
He was sentenced to 11 years for shooting an illegal alien drug dealer in the ass. HE should have got a medal, not prison. What has happened here to this man is obscene.
If either of these men, Ramos or Compean die because of where they are, their treatment or from anything that happnes to them while they are in prison, I put the full blame for their death on anyone at any level that could have put a stop to this insane judgement and punishment of these two Border Agents.

See The Commercial of Hillary and Bill's Spoof of Soprano's Ending for Her Campaign Song
Hillary and Bill Spoof the Soprano's Ending on the Hillary Campaign Song
Hillary's presidential campaign on Tuesday unveiled its new campaign song with a Web video that spoofs the final scene of the popular HBO mobster series.
The scene: A diner and a jukebox. A nostalgic song. A long fade to black. It worked as a finale for "The Sopranos."
In the new Clinton clip, Hillary Clinton, like Tony Soprano, spins through the musical selections in a diner in Mt. Kisco, N.Y., near her home in Chappaqua.
Where's Chelsea?" Sen. Clinton asks. Outside a car tire hits the curb. "Parallel parking," President Clinton replies.
"How's the campaign going?" he asks.
"Well, like you always say, focus on the good times."
"So what's the winning song," he presses.
"You'll see."
"My money is on Smash Mouth," he says. "Everybody in America wants to know how it's going to end."
"Ready?" Hillary asks.
The scene fades to black.
But, no, unlike the Sopranos, it's not over. You can click to hear Dion's song. A new page pops up. The most prominent word stands out against a red background:
"Contribute."

Wild Thing's comment..........

Terrorists Doing Their Thing in Gaza
Wild Thing's comment...........
I hope they kill each other off, then the Jews that left Gaza can come back. Americans should see this video. Watch it and think about the what if's. What if we have leaders continue that give arms to these terrorists as we have been doing in Israel. What if the mosques we have on our land prove to be what so many had let us know about that they teach hate and are gathering places for terrorists.
Could we be seeing bombs going off in our streets, at our outdoor cafe's and in our shopping Mall's one day? We sure could and it is not that hard to imagine it happening anymore.

Making of a Special Forces Soldier
For over 40 years, Army Special Forces trainees have roamed the pine forests of central North Carolina in an elaborate and unusual military exercise known as Robin Sage. This final two-week test in a yearlong journey to receiving the trademark green beret requires the soldiers to recruit and train a guerrilla force.
They are in high demand not only in Iraq and Afghanistan but also for low-visibility missions in festering trouble spots around the world. They specialize in commando raids on terrorists, training foreign troops, and raising guerrilla forces.
Last year, the Pentagon rolled out a plan to add a total of 13,119 military and civilian personnel to the current force of 46,223 by 2013. That's a very tall order since the great majority of those who try out fail to pass the arduous training. It is a challenging task to quickly expand the country's most elite units—whose members are carefully chosen and groomed at great expense—without jeopardizing the force's high mental and physical capabilities.
While the training is physically demanding, the premium is on finding recruits with the right combination of mental and personality traits. Selection chief Maj. Ed Flick said a battery of psychological tests is administered, and the officers go through additional role-playing exercises to test recruits' reactions in different settings.
On a crisp morning, for instance, trainees awoke from a late-night march and four hours' sleep to be sent to the log pit, where they worked in teams to balance and maneuver telephone poles on command until they were exhausted. Instructors yelled at the laggards, the only time in the entire month when they receive such hectoring.
"Most often we want to see how they do with no feedback," Flick said, "because we are looking for people who can operate without constant guidance in uncertain environments."
Once selected, the soldiers are trained in special operations techniques. A course in survival, evasion, resistance, and escape is now mandatory for all trainees, instead of for just officers. The training includes prisoner and hostage situations.
