Marine Wounded But Still Fighting

Wounded but still fighting

BETHESDA, Md. - The first round blew through Maj. K.C. Schuring's helmet, creased the top of his head and popped out through his goggles.

The second round felt as if Tigers slugger Magglio Ordonez were teeing off on the center of his back.

But it wasn't until rounds three and four blasted through each thigh that the big Marine went down, a pool of his blood spreading in the street in Ramadi, Iraq. While two dozen of his Iraqi Army trainees and two U.S. military advisers took cover, Schuring took stock.

OK, he thought. I'm still breathing.
"I remember thinking to myself, with that shot to my head, I shouldn't be alive right now - and I was," he said.

Staying that way would be another matter.

In that instant, Schuring joined more than 10,000 American troops wounded so severely in Iraq that they were sent home

Among all branches, more than 550 troops have lost legs, arms, hands or feet - mostly to roadside bombs - in Iraq and Afghanistan. That compares with 24,000 Americans wounded overall and more than 3,000 killed since the U.S. invasion of Iraq in March 2003.

Lying in the street on that sunny morning of Nov. 14, Schuring was determined not to add to the total of dead. The man who had just tried to kill him - a bearded man in a gray dishdasha, a traditional long garment - was running toward him with an AK 47.

"The only thing I could think about was, ` I'm the next captive,' or ` They're going to drag my body through the streets of Ramadi,'" he said. "And I couldn't let that happen to my wife and my family. ... I didn't want her to see me on Al-Jazeera" television.

Additionally - and unfortunately for the insurgents - Schuring was really ticked.

"I was mad, because, well, I don't get shot," said Schuring, 37, who has an MBA. In the civilian world, he works as a quality assurance manager. "I never get shot. And now I got shot. It infuriated me."

He also realized he couldn't get to cover.

"So I rolled to my right side and I brought up my M 16," Schuring said. "I aimed in on him and shot him in the head."

A moment later, a second armed insurgent rounded the same corner, looked down at the dead man and looked up just in time to catch three fatal rounds from Schuring's rifle.

Schuring's first steps on the road to recovery - killing two of the six insurgents who tried to kill him - came when he was unable to take any steps at all. And with those steps, Schuring, like other wounded warriors, began a painful journey to recovery.

Cpl. John Lockwood, a Washtenaw County, Mich., sheriff's deputy, was manning a machine gun atop a Humvee during a Nov. 19 mission to root out insurgents in Fallujah, Iraq. The 26-year-old helped stake out a position, then stayed with Lance Cpl. Jeremy Shock, the driver, to guard their vehicle as their comrades searched nearby buildings.

That's when a bomb, hidden 5 inches below the road surface, blew up.

The explosion killed Shock of Tiffin, Ohio. Lockwood suffered a litany of injuries: two broken feet. Two broken legs. Broken bones in both hands. A nose more crushed than merely broken. Legs peppered with shrapnel wounds. A left eye lost to more shrapnel.

"I don't remember what happened," Lockwood said. "The guys that helped me told me about it."

They stabilized him in an alley near his burning Humvee, then rushed him to Fallujah Surgical, where Navy doctors tended his wounds. He woke briefly at some point, then spent the next two weeks in a medically induced coma while surgeons opened his wounds every 48 hours to clean them. The frequent surgeries help fight infection.

Four months later, Lockwood is still healing.

"I've got a long road ahead of me, " he said, "but I'll make it."

While Lockwood was busy with surgeries and rehab, family, friends and at least a few hundred people he doesn't even know were busy in Washtenaw County. His supporters came together last month at the Farm Council Grounds for what was modestly termed a fundraising spaghetti dinner and auction.

By the end of the day, about 2,000 people had plunked down at least $10 each for the right to eat spaghetti and bid on items ranging from autographed Red Wings jerseys to a ball thrown in the World Series last fall by Tigers pitcher Nate Robertson.

They raised almost $40,000 to help Lockwood and his wife, Lisa, defray some of his costs while recovering. The military takes care of his hospital bills. But Lisa Lockwood left her job and her college studies to be with her husband during his stay at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. And he'll still need her help when his hospital stay ends - which friends say may be as soon as three weeks from now.

"His spirits are spectacular," said Saline Police Sgt. Jay Basso, who visited Lockwood at Bethesda recently. "If I was half as strong as that guy, emotionally and physically ... he's a squared-away young man at 26. I'm in awe."

Lockwood said he's in awe, too.

"It's just amazing all the support back home, " he said. "I'm so humbled by it. All I can do is get better and give back as much as I can."
Marines wounded by what the military calls improvised explosive devices often have a hard time telling a coherent story about their injuries. They remember driving away from a dusty combat outpost in Fallujah or Baghdad, then recall waking up in a hospital bed in Maryland or California or Texas.

That was the case for Lance Cpls. Josh Bleill and Eric Frazier, who last month sat beneath a scarlet Marine Corps flag at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and described their injuries.

But Cpl. Chad Watson, who sat with them, is an exception. He remembers exactly what happened about 9 a.m. Nov. 29 as he led a team of Marines in the streets of Fallujah. The team from the 1st Battalion of the 24th Marines had just searched the car and were starting to roll again.

"We didn't get more than 100 meters, and it was like I got punched in the face like 10,000 times," Watson said.

What pummeled Watson was a bomb, not a fist. The moment he looked down, he knew his life had changed forever.

"I looked at my right leg, and it was gone - completely gone," said Watson, 24, a college student from Mt. Zion, Ill. "There was a big hole under the driver's side; that's where it hit."

Watson's training took over. Despite his missing leg, the smashed bones in his left heel and ankle, a fractured vertebra, burns and shrapnel wounds to his face, arm and eye, he grabbed his weapon and struggled to get out of the Humvee to defend himself and his comrades. But he couldn't free his twisted left leg from what remained of the Humvee's floor. Marines from other vehicles came running to help.

"I remember them yelling, `Is anybody still alive?'" said Watson.

Finally, after his fellow Marines dragged him into a nearby courtyard, a Navy corpsman tied off his bleeding right leg with a tourniquet. The corpsman gently informed Watson that most of his right leg was gone.

"I was kind of like, `Yeah, no kidding, I saw that.'"

Through it all Watson - still the team leader, despite his grievous wounds - was shouting orders.

"I was actually yelling at the guys to get out of the courtyard ... because there were too many of them," and a large group was liable to draw the insurgents' fire, said Watson. "I was glad how I reacted. I acted good under pressure, and I was happy to hear that they told my parents that."

All Bleill really remembers about the moments before the explosion that took both his legs and killed two comrades is gazing out his Humvee window in Fallujah.

"You're always looking outside," explained Bleill, 29, whose civilian job is running a call center in Indianapolis. "You're looking for anything suspicious."

Bleill woke up in Germany with his jaw wired shut days after he was injured Oct. 15. Medical staff explained his injuries to him while he was groggy: the loss of both legs above the knee, a broken jaw, a pelvis shattered so badly it required 32 pins to piece together.

Frazier's story is similar. The 20-year-old from McMinnville, Tenn., was heading out to count Iraqis for a local census when a bomb destroyed his Humvee on Oct. 23.

"It blew up right underneath the driver and killed him instantly," said Frazier, a factory worker. A second Marine also died.

The blast took both of Frazier's legs - one above the knee - lacerated his liver and a kidney, fractured his pelvis in three places, and broke a vertebra , one arm, a wrist, his jaw and several fingers.

"I guess it wasn't my time to go," said Frazier. "I died out there in the streets of Fallujah, and no one can explain how they brought me back."

Now the soft-spoken man from the mountains works every day to regain the physical strength he'll need to again do the things he loves. For Frazier, that means using his computerized prosthetic legs to roam the hills and hollows with a fishing pole or a hunting rifle in his hands.

Generally, Marines like to organize things by threes. Three Marines make a fire team, three fire teams make a squad, three squads make a company, and three line companies make a battalion.

So Watson, Frazier and Bleill have formed their own sort of rehabilitative fire team during their stay at Walter Reed. "We joke with each other, or say, `Hey, we gotta catch up with him,'" Watson said. "It makes us work that much harder."

When they're working painfully to build their upper body strength, they push each other to work even harder. When one is working on his balance on the parallel bars, the others are watching.

Marines have always taken a perverse pride in their grueling daily doses of group PT, or physical training. It binds them together. And the equation hasn't changed much just because they're wounded. Now, the initials "PT" stand for "physical therapy."

"It's the same thing, just a different setting," Watson said. "It's just a different group of guys you're with now."

Even for Marines like Schuring, who is getting rehabilitation through Beaumont Hospital near his home in Farmington Hills, Mich., thoughts of his fellow Marines in Iraq are never far away while he's sweating and groaning through painful physical therapy. Teamwork is something the former center on the Hope College football team in west Michigan has understood for a long time.

The ceramic plate in his body armor saved him from the shot to his back. His Kevlar helmet helped dissipate the shot to his head, which didn't penetrate his skull. And the bullet that hit his right thigh missed the bone.

But the one that hit his left thigh almost cost him his leg, shattering his thighbone in three up near his hip. An infection nearly did the rest until it was brought under control by antibiotics.

His doctors expect he'll make a full recovery - thanks to physical therapy sessions it would take a Marine to love.

None of the wounded men is willing to let his injuries define him. None expressed bitterness. All said they would rejoin their units tomorrow, if they could.

Schuring, whose mission was training Iraqi soldiers, was especially emphatic.

"We were doing good things there in Ramadi - I mean phenomenal things," Schuring said. "The Iraqi army, the soldiers, they're the Iraqi heroes. They're not the best soldiers in the world, but they're trying."

The wounded men have had time while convalescing to process their experiences. They've met cabinet members and generals and members of Congress. Some have gone to the Super Bowl, and Watson was personally introduced to his baseball heroes, the St. Louis Cardinals, by the president of the United States.

But that's all gravy. It's everyday life that's a gift to these survivors.

"This puts everything into perspective," Lockwood said. "You get blown up, and all of a sudden the type of rims you have on your car, that doesn't mean anything. Your family, your friends, that's the stuff that's important. That's what keeps you going."

Wild Thing's comment......

To know as we all do that this is just one of the many stories of our brave troops. I just sit here with tears in my eyes and such pride in my heart of how truly awesome our soldiers are. God bless them all and keep them safe. I pray too that they know every day how very much they are appreciated!

Iran Training Iraqis To Use Explosives

WASHINGTON
(Reuters)

Iran is training anti-American Iraqi Shi'ites at sites inside Iran and Lebanon in the use of armor-piercing munitions blamed for the deaths of 170 U.S. troops in Iraq, the top U.S. intelligence official said on Tuesday.

In testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee, newly installed U.S. intelligence chief Mike McConnell said it was "probable" that Iranian leaders including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were aware that weapons known as explosively formed penetrators, or EFPs, had been supplied to Iraqi Shi'ites.

But he and other senior intelligence officials told a hearing on threats to the United States that al Qaeda remained the greatest threat facing the United States and had reestablished itself in Pakistan since being driven out of Afghanistan after the September 11 attacks.

"We inflicted a major blow. They retreated to another area. And they are going through a process to reestablish and rebuild, adapting to the seams, or the weak spots," McConnell said in his first congressional testimony as the U.S. director of national intelligence.

In describing Iran's role in Iraq, he stopped short of he stopped short of saying the Islamic Republic was directing EFP attacks on U.S. forces.

"We know there are Iranian weapons manufactured in Iran.
"We know that Quds Forces (of Iran's Revolutionary Guards) are bringing them (into Iraq)," McConnell said.

"Is there a direct link from Quds Forces delivering weapons, to the most senior leadership in Iran?" he said. "I would phrase it as 'probable' but, again, no direct link ... I am comfortable saying it's probable."

HEZBOLLAH ROLE

Under questioning by Sen. Joe Lieberman, a Connecticut Independent, McConnell tersely acknowledged that the United States has evidence showing that Iran is training Iraqi Shi'ites at sites outside Iraq to use EFPs.

"And some of that training is occurring in Iran?" asked Lieberman.

"Yes, sir," McConnell replied.

"I've heard reports that some may be occurring in Lebanon in Hezbollah training camps," Lieberman said.

"We believe Hezbollah is involved in the training as well," McConnell answered.

"If Iran is training Iraqi militants in the use of Iranian weapons which are then being used to kill Americans in Iraq, I think that's a very serious act and one that we ought to consider taking steps to stop," Lieberman said.

McConnell's comments were the latest in a series of assertions by U.S. military and intelligence officials that Iran is behind the appearance of EFPS in Iraq, where the weapons have been able to pierce some of the heaviest U.S. armor.

Officials said Iran's influence in Iraq has grown steadily since the 2003 overthrow of Saddam Hussein, and predicted Iraq's postwar government would have great difficulty overcoming sectarian violence and achieving reconciliation between Shi'ites and Sunnis.

Wild Thing's comment.......

This war is on so many fronts, and it just makes me angrier that one of those fronts is right here in our own country with the actiions, words and deeds of the left fighting our troops every step of the way. This is good information in this article and it will hit deaf ears when it comes to the likes of Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy and others that do NOT love America and are against our military.

It would be so cool if we could do a fly over and bomb the hell out of those places within Iran that are training people to fight our troops.

Explosion outside main U.S. Base Afghanistan ~ VP Cheney There And Is OK

Blast at Afghan Base Causes Causalities, Vice President Cheney Is Safe, Officials Say

Fox News
Tuesday 1:30AM ET

KABUL, Afghanistan — An explosion outside the main U.S. military base in Afghanistan went off Tuesday as Vice President Dick Cheney was visiting, causing an unknown number of casualties but apparently not putting the vice president in danger, officials said.

The blast happened at the first gate outside the base at Bagram, and there were an unknown number of casualties, said Kabir Ahmad, the district chief of the Bagram region.

Maj. William Mitchell said it did not appear the explosion was intended as a threat to the vice president, who was "safely inside the base" during the blast.

BAGRAM (Afghanistan) - Two Afghans were killed and 18 wounded in a suicide bombing perpetrated at the entry of the American base of Bagram, in the north of Kabul, during a visit of the American vice-president Dick Cheney, declared in AFP the chief of the district of Bagram, Kabir Ahmad.

“It is about a suicide bombing perpetrated in front of the principal entry kept by American soldiers”, declared Mr. Ahmad, without being able to give more explanations.

“According to first information's, two Afghans were killed and 18 wounded”, it added.

The number two American, who was inside the base, was not wounded, according to its spokesman.

Updates:

KABUL, Afghanistan: An explosion outside the main U.S. military base in Afghanistan killed at least two people and wounded 12 on Tuesday during a visit by U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, though the vice president was apparently not in danger, officials said.

The blast happened near the first security gate outside the base at Bagram, killing two people and wounding 12, said Kabir Ahmad, the district chief of the Bagram region.

Maj. William Mitchell said it did not appear the explosion was intended as a threat to the vice president, who was "safely inside the base" during the blast.

Cheney, who spent the night at Bagram, ate breakfast with U.S. soldiers Tuesday morning, Mitchell said. He was expected to later meet with President Hamid Karzai after their meeting was scrapped on Monday because of bad weather that prevented him traveling to Kabul.

"At this point it does not appear that the explosion was intended as a threat to the vice president," Mitchell said. "He wasn't near the site of the explosion. He was safely within the base at the time of the explosion."

KABUL, Feb 27 (Reuters) - A suicide bomber killed 20 people outside the main U.S. base in Afghanistan on Tuesday, a Pakistan-based news agency reported.

"The suicide bombing took place at gate 2 where Afghan labours were waiting," the Afghan Islamic Press quoted a provincial police officer as saying.

The agency quoted provincial governor Abdul Jabbar Taqwa as saying 20 people had been killed in the blast outside the Bagram air base.

Wild Thing's comment......

Cheney's meeting with Karzai is expected to continue. The meeting had been delayed due to weather conditions. Bagram is a sprawling complex and the main gates are some distance from offices and living quarters. All the other reports I am reading say all the dead and injured where Afghans.

I am so glad our troops are ok and VP Cheney was not injured or worse. Prayers for Cheney and our troops, any area there is dangerous for all of them.

It's Taps For Morse Code

Wayne Spring scans the airwaves for fellow ham operators from his Orange home. He uses Morse code, but doesn't oppose licensing operators who don't know the language.

It's taps for Morse code
A new FCC rule is seen as a sign that the language is fading into history like smoke signals
ocregister

Morse code is in need of some serious SOS.

The language of dots and dashes, first used during the infancy of electronic communication in the mid-1800s, is going the way of Latin.

Beginning today, amateur or "ham" radio operators in the United States won't be tested in Morse code – also known as Continuous Wave – in order to be licensed by the federal government.

In an effort to advance the hobby, the Federal Communications Commission in December agreed to eliminate the five-words-per-minute Morse code requirement for people seeking their upper-level class licenses.

So with another nail in Morse code's coffin, some of the 15 or so ham radio clubs in Orange County are hoping the less stringent testing will ignite interest and beef up declining membership. There are more than 9,600 licensed ham operators in the county, according to FCC data.

But the loss of Morse code has also created a rift between longtime operators, some who say the tap, tap, tapping is a skill steeped in tradition.

"There's a tendency for people who use Continuous Wave all their lives to shun or think of the people who don't use it as second-class citizens," said Fullerton Radio Club President Larry McDavid of Anaheim.

Walt LeBlanc, a member of the Anaheim Amateur Radio Association, learned Morse code when he first got licensed in 1976. He laments its loss as part of the licensing process.

"I think it's all part of the dumbing down of America," said LeBlanc of Westminster. "They keep lowering requirements like they did (for ham radio beginners) in 1991. But it didn't do anything then, and I don't think it'll do anything now."

The Anaheim association, which formed in 1964, saw as many as 300 members in its heyday; now there are about 30, with only 10 active.

The Fullerton Radio Club began in 1950, but while its ranks peaked at about 300 members in the early 1960s, there are only about 60 today. Most of the members are over age 50.

Amateur radio operators say cell phones, text messaging and the Internet have easily become more popular outlets for making long-distance contact.

But the need for ham operators is great, especially during disasters, operators say. Ham radio played a key role in early communications during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and Hurricane Katrina.

"We're often there first, and we're often the only communication early on," McDavid said.

Wayne Spring of the Orange County Amateur Radio Club is one of the ham hopefuls who think nixing Morse code testing can only help the hobby.

Spring, who lives in Orange, learned Morse code as a search-and-rescue radio operator for the U.S. Coast Guard in the 1940s. While his code has gotten a little rusty, he isn't quite ready to say "73" (Morse code for "goodbye") to the electronic language.

Wild Thing's comment.......

How are they 'advancing the hobby' when they are taking one of the more interesting aspects of it away? I think it is sad, another vanishing skill and why say it is a hobby like that is all it is. It has meant much more to this country over the years.

I have heard that here in Florida there are very active, effective and experienced crew of hams on the hurricane net who give of their own time and resources on a regular basis in times of emergency.

Enough is Enough We Need To Be Strong Again!

More Americans killed by illegal aliens than Iraq war
National Border Patrol Council
January 22,2007

Illegal aliens are killing more Americans than the Iraq war, says a new report from Family Security Matters that estimates some 2,158 murders are committed every year by illegal aliens in the U.S. The group says that number is more than 15 percent of all the murders reported by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the U.S. and about three times the representation of illegal aliens in the general population.

Mike Cutler, a former senior special agent with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (the former INS), is a fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies and an advisor to Family Security Matters (FSM). He says the high number of Americans being killed by illegal aliens is just part of the collateral damage that comes with tolerating illegal immigration.

“The military actually called for the BORTAC team, … the elite unit of the Border Patrol, to be detailed to Iraq to help to secure the Iraqi border,” Cutler notes. “Now, if our military can understand that Iraq’s security depends in measure on the ability to protect its border against insurgents and terrorists, then why isn’t our country similarly protecting our own borders ?” he asks.
“We are not five and a half years, nearly, after 9/11, and yet our borders remain open,” the Center for Immigration Studies fellow observes. “We have National Guardsmen assigned on the border, but it turns out they are unarmed,” he points out. “Their rules of engagement are very simple : if armed intruders head your way, run in the other direction.”

This situation would “almost be comical if it wasn’t so tragic:

” Cutler asserts. “If our borders are wide open, this means that drugs, criminals, and terrorists are entering our country just as easily as the dishwashers,” he says.

The report from FSM estimates that the 267,000 illegal aliens currently incarcerated in the nation are responsible for nearly 1,300,000 crimes, ranging from drug arrests to rape and murder. Such statistics, Cutler contends, debunk the claim that illegal immigration is a victimless crime.

“Then we even have another problem,” he adds, “and that’s the Visa Waiver Program.”

The federal government’s Visa Waiver Program enables nationals of certain countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. According to the U.S. State Department website, the waiver program was established in 1986 with the objective of “eliminating unnecessary barriers to travel,” stimulating America’s tourism industry, and allowing the government to focus consular resources in other areas.

Cutler says the U.S. retains the Visa Waiver Program because the nation’s travel, tourism, and hospitality industries want America’s borders wide open. In other words, the former INS official contends, the nation’s security is being compromised in the name of trade.

Arms seized at U.S. - Mexican border town

( NIN) On February 11, 2007, a tractor-trailer registered in Texas and containing a large shipment of weapons, ammunition and a Nissan pickup truck fitted with armor and bullet-proof glass was stopped by the Mexican army in Matamoros, just south of the U.S. border at Brownsville, Texas.

The weapons seized included 18 M-16 assault rifles, including at least one equipped with an M-203 40mm grenade launcher, several M-4 carbines, 17 handguns of various calibers, over 200 magazines for different weapons, and more than 8,000 rounds of ammunition, assault vests and other military accessories.

Although the origin of the shipment is unclear, it is vividly obvious that areas along the U.S.-Mexican border are as much war zones as transshipment points. Matamoros has long been recognized as a vital choke point for the shipment of drugs, weapons and illegal aliens, including Islamic terrorists, into the United States from Mexico. Based on the sophistication of the weapons seized earlier this month, it is apparent that a battle is shaping up just across the border from Brownsville – one that will undoubtedly have ominous implications for those protecting our southern border.

Wild Thing's comment.......
Imagine a scene of a man sitting in his living room, his family that he loves sleeping in their specific bedrooms. The man is sitting there, alone and well armed to protect his precious family. There is a large front door, a side door and a back door. Not only are these doors unlocked but they are wide open for easy entrance for anyone wanting in.

And there are some dogs that are also family members as pets always are. But instead of being free to defend the home and their loving family they live with, these dogs are tied up outside, preventing them from any guard duty, any form of protection. They have muzzles on as well to keep them from barking (alerting) the man sitting in the house.

Some time ago, an additional two dogs he had were put in the pound because they tore into one of the invaders that meant harm and danger for this American family. The invader, well he was paid a vast amount of money, not even a slap on the wrist, and those in authority in this families city made this invader, this criminal a reward as an American visitor with special treatment showing thanks for entering illegally and bringing his criminal business into a once safe place.

Is the family man sitting in his living room with the gun wasting his time trying to protect his family? Will this man one day find himself in a human pound, a jail if he attempts to fight back and do what any loving and caring head of a family would do to protect his own? And how many more of the guard dogs will be sent to the pound for doing their job?

This is a Chrissie version of what has been happening. The two guard dogs are the two border patrol agents that have been sentenced and jailed for doing their job. The doors to our country are still wide open and the criminal, the illegal immigrant drug pusher, POS walks free with a financial apology from our country.

What was up is down and what was down is up, the world, as we know it is on some kind of spiral into hell and misery if this kind of thing is not fixed. It won’t just be the Border Patrol Agents that will find themselves jailed for doing their jobs, it will also be home owners, land owners, renters, heads of families, fathers, mothers and young people that attempt to protect themselves and their loved ones.

Sounds negative doesn’t it?! But wait… we have already seen this happen and who would have dreamed it in their worst nightmare that these agents would be jailed and the illegal immigrant been treated as he was treated. I have a tremendous imagination, it helps in being creative with art etc. but it’s certainly doesn’t take an imagination to see that this will happen and the tables will continue to turn against those of us that are here legally, those of us that intend on defending our lives, our homes, our loved ones, and yes our country!

Our troops are busting their butts every day for us, risking their lives, for our security and to keep us as safe as possible. Our Border Patrol Agents, our police etc. too and this is the thanks they all get!

Consistency is important in leadership, it adds strength in it’s own right. Leaders cannot lead if they are wishie washie, if they double speak, if they are NOT consistent. There can’t be an axis of evil list and exceptions for countries made just because of oil or any other kind of trade. Evil is evil and one can’t put flowers on it to make it less evil. This country is set apart because we have the rule of law. When exceptions are made for our laws a sick virus begins to grow that spreads from one law to another and soon laws will mean nothing even to those that once obeyed them. When our leaders ignore existing laws and constantly try to rewrite them to promote their political agenda, or gain favor with the enemy wanting to erode our Nation it will crumble like a building imploding from the inside out.

I am very concerned about my country, I love her dearly with all my heart. I won’t ever give up but I am disgusted. For me I will never vote for anyone that I do not think will see America as I do, that it needs to be protected from the inside as well as in far off lands from those wanting to do harm to us, and to our Nation. I am a Conservative, NOT a compassionate conservative.

At the top of my blog just below the large graphic, is my statement, it has been there since the day I began this blog, and I will always feel this way.

I am an American first, a Conservative second and a Republican third.

I have voted Republican all my voting age life. So has my family except for some of my husband’s relatives. I pray every day we will have a Conservative to vote for when the time comes. I am VERY impressed with Vietnam Veteran,173rd Airborne Brigade and the 75th Army Ranger Duncan Hunter. And I am also concerned for the way I see Rudy being pushed and yakked up in the media, pushed in our faces as though we HAVE to pick him. Duncan Hunter on the Issues. Hunter is the real deal. And this this important to me too, his father was a Marine and so is one of Duncan's two sons, his name is Duncan also and he has served two tours in Iraq in the U.S. Marine Corps.

I wasn't gonig to state yet the name of the person I have been reading up on, since it is still so very early, but the more I read about Hunter the more I am filled with hope.

This next election will be drawing the line in this country as to what the future will be on many levels. God help us all if a vote is made for the lesser of two evils, because that is still a vote for evil. That is still a vote for the enemy within, just a slower walk to the guillotine.

Ooh-rah, Devil Dog!

U.S. Veteran Kills Would be mugger

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (Reuters) -

American tourists watched as a U.S. military Marine Veteran in his 70’s used his bare hands to kill an armed assailant in Costa Rica.

“ I thought it was a skit. But then he pointed a gun at my head and grabbed me by the throat and I thought I was going to die,” Clova Adams 54, said by telephone Friday from the Carnival Liberty cruise ship.

The assault occurred during a stopover 80 miles east of San Jose. Adams was with 12 American tourists who hired a driver to explore. They were climbing out of the van when three men wearing ski masks ran toward them, she said. One held a .38 caliber revolver at her head and the other two pulled out knives.

Suddenly, one tourist, a U.S. military Marine veteran trained in self-defense, jumped out of the van and put the gunman in a headlock killing the mugger by snapping his neck, according to police chief Luis Hernandez. Hernandez said. "His neck was completely snapped."

Segura died instantly and two other unidentified thieves, one of whom was armed with a knife, fled the scene, Hernandez said.

No charges will be filed against the tourists because police viewed the incident as an act of self-defense. Police questioned and released the group, which rejoined the cruise and left Cost Rica.

The Americans were passengers aboard the Carnival cruise ship Legend. They got off their tour bus to take photos in a notoriously rough neighborhood a short drive from Limon.

After the attack, they put Segura's body on their bus and found a police officer in Limon to report the incident.

Wild Thing's comment.......

Don't bring a .38 to a rasslin' match with a 70 year-old Marine.

Girls dragged in streets, hacked to death

Girls dragged in streets, hacked to death

SANGHAR

The cruel custom of ‘karo-kari’ claimed another two lives when two village girls were dragged in the streets and hacked to death by their uncles, accusing them of having tarnished the family’s honour. The girls — first cousins — were buried without any religious rites and the family declined to accept condolences.

The gory incident took place on Thursday in the village of Allah Bux Brohi, near Shahpur Chakar. The two uncles surrendered to police. They said they had done the right thing and felt no remorse.

They told journalists that they had been informed at about midnight on Wednesday that the girls — Farida, 18, and Hamida, 22 — were missing from their room. They went in search of them and found them in a banana orchard with two men who ran away.

The two uncles have been identified as Khamiso Brohi and Imamdad Brohi.

Wild Thing's comment......

So sick, so horrible and of course we are the bad guys according to the lefties and rhino's that want sit down's with these sub humans that follow Islam. Another disquieting thing about this is that it occurred in Pakistan, a country with an extensive nuclear arsenal.

Of course this is more news that will never be NEWS in the Main Stream Media. Now if it were U.S. Soldiers that did it, then thats different.

Just Say No To Gore

...

Could Al Gore make bid for presidency at Oscars?
cnn

LOS ANGELES, California

We've seen plenty of political moments at the Oscars before. But on Sunday, we could see the most unusual political moment ever.

Consider this scenario: It's Academy Awards night. Best documentary feature is up. And the Oscar is favored to go to . . . "An Inconvenient Truth," starring former Vice President Al Gore.

Lawrence Bender, producer of "An Inconvenient Truth," and the film's other producers come up to accept the Oscar -- with Gore.

"There's even some speculation that he would use his Oscar as the occasion to announce that he's running," Martin Kaplan, director of the University of Southern California's Norman Lear Center, told CNN. "Imagine that: a billion people worldwide! Take that Jay Leno, as an announcement venue!''

Could it happen? Gore's producer thinks a potential Gore speech would be a historic moment, but not the way Kaplan envisions.

"It's electrifying, not politically, because is Al Gore going to run or not going to run. There's nothing going to happen like that," Bender told CNN. "It's electrifying because the man who is responsible for solidifying the forces around global warming is going to'' be acknowldged.

But could an Oscar start the momentum for a draft-Gore movement? USC's Kaplan thinks it could.

Wild Thing's comment......

LMAO, oh whew! OK so several weeks ago my husband and I got our package from the Academy for us to vote this year for the Oscars. Obviously we did not vote for Gore's film. hahaha No way! Every year it gets harder and harder to vote because we go to less and less films. They usually send a few DVD's f films they think will win anyway. Funny and thank goodness they did not send us Gore's film hahahahha

This is such perfect timing. As I was preparing this post I got an emaijl from Jack at Conservative Insurgent and here is a Petition we can sign. The Petition is to to Stop Gore and Reject the UN's Global Warming Treaty To sign Petition just go HERE.

Stand Up With Charlie

I don't know how everybody else feels about it, but to me I think Hispanic people in this country, legally or illegally,
made a huge public relations mistake with their recent demonstrations.

I don't blame anybody in the world for wanting to come to the United States of America, as it is a truly wonderful place.

But when the first thing you do when you set foot on American soil is illegal it is flat out wrong and I don't care how many lala land left heads come out of the woodwork and start trying to give me sensitivity lessons.

I don' t need sensitivity lessons, in fact I don't have any-thing against Mexicans! I just have something against criminals and anybody who comes into this country illegally is a criminal and if you don't believe it try coming into America from a foreign country without a passport and see how far you get. What disturbs me about the demonstrations is that it's tanta-mount to saying, "I am going to come into your country even if it means breaking your laws and there's nothing you can do about it."

It's an "in your face" action and speaking just for me, I don't like it one little bit and if there were a half dozen pairs of gonads in Washington bigger than English peas it wouldn't be happening.

Where are you, you bunch of lily livered, pantywaist, forked tongued, sorry excuses for defenders of The Constitution?

Have you been drinking the water out of the Potomac again? And even if you pass a bill on immigration it will probably be so pork laden and watered down that it won't mean anything anyway. Besides, what good is another law going to do when you won't enforce the ones on the books now?

And what ever happened to the polls, guys? I thought you folks were the quintessential finger wetters. Well you sure ain't paying any attention to the polls this time because somewhere around eighty percent of Americans want some thing done about this mess, and mess it is and getting bigger everyday.

This is no longer a problem, it is a dilemma and headed for being a tragedy. Do you honestly think that what happened in France with the Muslims can't happen here when the businesses who hire these people finally run out of jobs and a few million disillusioned Hispanics take to the streets?

If you, Mr. President, Congressmen and Senators, knuckle under on this and refuse to do something meaningful it means that you care nothing for the kind of country your children and grand-children will inherit.
But I guess that doesn't matter as long as you get re-elected.

Shame on you.

One of the big problems in America today is that if you have the nerve to say anything derogatory about any group of people (except Christians) you are going to be screamed at by the media and called a racist, a bigot and anything else they can think of to call you

Well I've been pounded by the media before and I'm still rockin' and rollin' and when it comes to speaking the truth I fear not. And the truth is that the gutless, gonadless, milksop politicians are just about to sell out the United States of America because they don't have the intestinal fortitude to stand up to face reality.

And reality is that we would never allow any other group of people to have 12 million illegal in this country and turn around and say, "Oh it's ok, ya'll can stay here if you'll just allow us to slap your wrist."

And I know that some of you who read this column are saying "Well what's wrong with that?"
I'll tell you what's wrong with it. These people could be from Mars as far as we know. We don't know who they are, where they are or what they're up to and the way the Congress is going we're not going to.

Does this make sense? Labor force you say? We already subsidize corporate agriculture as it is, must we subsidize their labor as well? If these peo ple were from Haiti would we be so fast to turn a blind eye to them or if they were from Somalia or Afghanistan ? I think not.

All the media shows us are pictures of hard working Hispanics who have crossed the border just to try to better their life.

They don't show you pictures of the Feds rounding up members of MS 13, the violent gang who came across the same way the decent folks did. They don't tell you about the living conditions of the Mexican illegal some fat cat hired to pick his crop.

I want to make two predictions.

No. 1: This situation is going to grow and fester until it erupts in violence on our streets while the wimps in Washington drag their toes in the dirt and try to figure how many tons of political hay they can make to the acre.

No 2: Somebody is going to cr oss that border with some kind of weapon of mass destruction and set it off in a major American city after which there will be a backlash such as this country has never experienced and the Capitol building in Washington will probably tilt as Congressmen and Senators rush to the other side of the issue.
I don't know about you but I would love to see just one major politician stand up and say, "I don't care who I make mad and I don't care how many votes I lose, this is a desperate situation and I'm going to lead the fight to get it straightened out."

I don't blame anybody for wanting to come to America , but if you don't respect our immigration laws why should you respect any others?

And by the way, this is America and our flag has stars and stripes Please get that other one out of my face.

God Bless America

Charlie Daniels

Thank you Mark for sending this to me.

Troops capture 61 terror suspects

American Forces Press Service

BAGHDAD

Iraqi and Coalition Forces captured 61 suspected terrorists, destroyed five improvised explosive devices and seized several weapons caches during operations across Iraq in the past four days.

Today, special Iraqi Army forces, along with Coalition Forces, destroyed a car rigged with an explosive device and captured seven suspected terrorists during a raid targeting foreign fighters east of Tikrit.

Forces found the car bomb during a search for a suspected terrorist with ties to the foreign fighter facilitator network, officials said. During a raid of the targeted area, coalition forces detained the individual along with six other suspected terrorists.

Further searching the area, ground forces discovered a vehicle on the property was rigged with an IED. After clearing the area of civilians, ground forces destroyed the vehicle.

More searching by ground forces led them to numerous AK-47s, a sniper rifle, two machine guns, a pistol and a footlocker filled with ammunition.

During an operation in southern Baghdad yesterday, special Iraqi Army forces, along with coalition advisors, captured two suspected members of a rogue Jaysh Al-Mahdi militia cell.

The Iraqi-led operation was targeting a cell believed responsible for attacks against civilians in the area, officials said. The cell is also suspected of participating in the kidnapping, torture and murder of an Iraqi Army officer in December 2006.

Fly High You Eagles, Soar

Fly High you Eagles, soar

On you we all depend.
To serve, to stand, support our war,
Our fallen to defend.
Stand firm, stand brave before our Wall;
Deal those a sorry fate,
Who answer Fonda's hateful call:
Our nation they must hate.

Fly high you Eagles, soar,
Your keen eyes see below,
The leftist fools oppose this war,
To them no low's too low.
They seek our Wall to desecrate,
To enhance their losing cause;
They seek to doom our nation's fate;
They see nothing but our flaws.

Fly high you Eagles, soar,
Above those who seek defeat,
Who seek submission, nothing more,
To a terror they can't meet.
They falter when the course is long;
They're weak-willed, failed and bitter;
Got it all entirely wrong,
So typical of a quitter.

Fly high you Eagles, soar,
Stand proud before our Wall;
You are the nation's heart, the core,
The essence of us all.
Know that we stand there with you,
In spirit and in soul,
America's not lost, not through,
We've a long, long way to go.

Russ Vaughn

Chicago Area Men Arrested With Connections To Terrorism

Two Chicago-area men arrested in Ohio terrorism case
ohio.com

CHICAGO - Two Chicago-area cousins were arrested Wednesday on federal charges out of Cleveland accusing them of conspiring to wage holy war against Americans overseas, including U.S. military forces in Iraq.

Zubair A. Ahmed, 27, of suburban North Chicago, and Khaleel Ahmed, 26, of Chicago, were accused along with three other men from the Toledo, Ohio, area who already had been under indictment on charges of plotting acts of terrorism against Americans overseas.

The fresh indictment returned by a grand jury in Cleveland added the two Chicago-area men to the roster of defendants and brought additional charges against the three men from Ohio.

The cousins, both American citizens, appeared briefly in Chicago before U.S. Magistrate Judge Geraldine Soat Brown, who ordered them sent to Ohio for arraignment. Prosecutors asked her to order them held in custody and sent to Ohio as federal prisoners. Defense attorneys asked for bond.

Defense attorneys Gerald Collins and Brian Sieve said they had just met the two defendants, knew little about them and had no comment on the case.

The indictment claims that, between June 2004 and February 2006, the cousins and the other three men - Mohammad Zaki Amawi, 27, and Marwan Othman El-Hindi, 42, both formerly of Toledo, Ohio, and Wassim I. Mazloum, 22, formerly of Sylvania, Ohio :

"....conspired to "kill or maim persons in locations outside of the United States, to including U.S. armed forces personnel serving in Iraq."
The conspiracy allegedly included finding fresh recruits to commit terrorist acts and seeking out sites for training in firearms, hand-to-hand combat and the use of explosives. The men also allegedly agreed to raise funds for "jihad training" and download Internet information on improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
A shadowy figure was described in the indictment only as the trainer, a U.S. citizen with a military background. The indictment said the two cousins met with the trainer in July 2004 and discussed sniper tactics, counter-surveillance techniques and the use of heavy machine guns.

The three Ohio men, currently in federal custody, were charged in the original indictment with conspiring to provide material support to terrorists. Amawi was also charged with verbally threatening the president of the United States and unlawful distribution of a video concerning suicide bomber vests.

Wednesday's indictment charged Amawi with distributing information about explosive chemicals downloaded from the Internet and charged El-Hindi with distributing information about explosives and making false statements to officials.

The five men face a maximum penalty of life in prison if convicted of conspiring to kill Americans overseas, according to federal prosecutors.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in Cleveland said a separate indictment was returned charging Bilal Mazloum, 22, of Sylvania, Ohio, brother of Wassim I. Mazloum, with making a false statement to federal agents.

In addition, El-Hindi and Ashraf Zaim, 39, of Ottawa Hills, Ohio, are charged in a separate, seven-count indictment with conspiring to commit theft of public funds, making false statements and wire fraud in connection with a $40,000 federal grant they obtained to operate clinics for low-income taxpayers.

The government contends that no clinics were ever operated.

Wild Thing's comment........

American citizens? On paper maybe, but not in their heart. These sub-humans are dangerous and traitors, and I want to see them rot or fry.

I am glad they caught these men, but the reality is it would be a myth that their arrests and deportations will clean up the mosque & schools, the truth is, there are others prepared to take their place and continue the preparations for jihad. Citizens in our country were attacked just last week by a solo jihadi in a Utah shopping mall.

Pelosi Trys To Call Bush To Complain of Cheney's Comments

Pelosi Calls Bush to Complain of Cheney's Comments on Democrats' Iraq Strategy

Fox News
WASHINGTON

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday phoned President Bush to air her complaints over Vice President Dick Cheney's comments that the Congressional Democrats' plan for Iraq would "validate the Al Qaeda strategy."

Pelosi, who said she could not reach the president, said Cheney's comments wrongly questioned critics' patriotism and ignored Bush's call for openness on Iraq strategy.

"You cannot say as the president of the United States, 'I welcome disagreement in a time of war,' and then have the vice president of the United States go out of the country and mischaracterize a position of the speaker of the House and in a manner that says that person in that position of authority is acting against the national security of our country," the speaker said.

The quarrel began in Tokyo, where Cheney used an interview to criticize Pelosi and Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., over their plan to place restrictions on Bush's request for an additional $93 billion for the Iraq war to make it difficult or impossible to send 21,500 extra troops to Iraq.

"I think if we were to do what Speaker Pelosi and Congressman Murtha are suggesting, all we will do is validate the Al Qaeda strategy," the vice president told ABC News. "The Al Qaeda strategy is to break the will of the American people ... try to persuade us to throw in the towel and come home, and then they win because we quit."
Pelosi, at a news conference in San Francisco, said Cheney's criticism of Democrats was "beneath the dignity of the debate we're engaged in and a disservice to our men and women in uniform, whom we all support."
"And you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to call the president and tell him I disapprove of what the vice president said," Pelosi said. "It has no place in our debate." Bush had previously urged her to call him when a member of his administration stepped over the line by questioning Democrats' patriotism, she said.

Later, Pelosi said she had tried to reach the president but was only able to get through to White House chief of staff Josh Bolten.

Bolten said he was certain no one was questioning her patriotism or commitment to national security, she told reporters.

"I said to him perhaps when he saw what the vice president said he might have another comment," Pelosi said. White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino said Cheney "was not questioning anyone's patriotism." But she said Bush and Cheney believe that Pelosi and Murtha's "position to immediately pull out our troops would be harmful to our national security and that it is the wrong strategy to pursue."
Pelosi said she hopes "the president will repudiate and distance himself from the vice president's remarks."

Wild Thing's comment.......

She didn't get through. Josh Bolton took the call. LOL!

Oh my gosh, Pelosi has lost it! She has got to have one of the biggest egos in politics, at least one of the top 10 biggest. Now she is telling the Vice President of the USA what to say and what not to say!?!?!? Hey Nancy put your opinion where the sun doesn't shine you POS!

Pelosi reacts to truth like a vampire does to sunlight. Cheney told the truth, nothing makes them madder.

Blair Sees Peace With 'sensible' Hamas Members

Blair sees peace with 'sensible' Hamas members
WND
JERUSALEM BUREAU

JERUSALEM – "Sensible" members of Hamas can be counted on as partners for progress toward peace in the Middle East, British Prime Minister Tony Blair said today.

Speaking to the British Parliament prior to a meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Blair said, "I think there are possibilities for progress and I hope that in the coming weeks a framework to take this forward becomes a bit clearer."
"It's far easier to deal with the situation in Palestine if there is a national unity government. ... I hope we can make progress, including even with the more sensible elements of Hamas."

Blair was referring to a national unity deal forged in Mecca earlier this month between Abbas' Fatah party and the Hamas terror group. The agreement, which aimed to end months of Palestinian infighting, does not call for the new Palestinian unity government to recognize Israel and does not commit Hamas to abide by previous peace deals with Israel, only to "respect" the previous peace deals.

Manuel Hassassian, the Palestinian emissary to London, hailed Blair's remarks and urged the British prime minister to persuade the U.S. to negotiate with Hamas.

"President Abbas wants Prime Minister Blair to persuade the Americans that the Mecca deal is the only way out," Hassassian said.
"If there is any European country that can influence the Americans it's going to be the UK, given the fact that Blair is a personal friend of President Bush."

Blair's comments come two months after WND reported Hamas said it held meetings with high-ranking European officials and American figures, including members of the Democratic Party.

A Hamas source claimed Britain and France held meetings with the terror group in which discussions addressed the possibility of breaking an international financial embargo imposed on the PA since Hamas won parliamentary elections.

The source claimed Britain and France are "coming to terms" with the Hamas position of mediating the so-called Israeli-Palestinian conflict with a long-term cease-fire instead of final status negotiations in which the PA would agree to peace with Israel in exchange for a Palestinian state. The source said the two countries asked Hamas for a position paper outlining ideas for a long-term truce with Israel.

According to the Palestinian Maannews agency, Hamas sources claimed their meetings with European representatives "broke the ice" and facilitated alleged talks with Democrat officials.

Ahmed Yousuf, chief political advisor to Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, confirmed in December claims Hamas officials met with Democratic officials. He said Hamas also met with European leaders, including members of the British parliament.

Yousuf did not say when the meetings took place or which members of the Democratic Party the terror group allegedly held dialogue with, but he stated the meetings were fruitful in introducing the Hamas political vision.

A top Hamas source had claimed the alleged meeting with the Democrats took place in a European country.

The source claimed the Democrats expressed an understanding with the Hamas principal of not recognizing Israel and applauded Hamas' willingness to accept a long-term cease-fire with the Jewish state in exchange for an Israeli withdrawal to what is known as the pre-1967 borders – meaning an evacuation of the Gaza Strip, West Bank and eastern sections of Jerusalem.

In December, just prior to U.S. midterm elections, WND conducted a series of well-circulated exclusive interviews in which prominent Middle East terrorist leaders said they hoped Americans would sweep the Democrats into power because of the party's position on withdrawing from Iraq – a move, the terrorists explained, that would ensure victory for the worldwide Islamic resistance.

The terrorists told WND an electoral win for the Democrats would prove to them Americans are "tired." They rejected statements from some prominent Democrats in the U.S. that a withdrawal from Iraq would end the insurgency, explaining an evacuation would prove resistance works and would compel jihadists to continue fighting until America is destroyed.

They said a withdrawal would also embolden their own terror groups to enhance "resistance" against Israel.

"Of course Americans should vote Democrat," Jihad Jaara, a senior member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group and the infamous leader of the 2002 siege of Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity, told WND in November.

Wild Thing's comment......

I don't like words like alleged and sources, as you know I seldom use WND as much as I use other sources this is one of the reasons. BUT on the other hand it does have an actual quote from Blair that I think crosses the line and is VERY concerning to say the least. So that is why I am posting this.

I would not be surprised if it was true that some of the Democrats met with the Hamas, nope not surprised at all.

Now about Blair, what the heck? Is he nuts? Is he weakening after all this time of having to be strong about the war against Islam. Because this is the most sickening news I've read all week. "Sensible" members of Hamas".......there is no such animal.

Score one for the Good Guys

Guantanamo inmates denied legal challenge

WASHINGTON — A federal appeals court ruled Tuesday that foreign-born prisoners seized as potential terrorists and held in Guantanamo Bay cannot challenge their detention in U.S. courts, a key victory for President George W. Bush’s anti-terrorism plan.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled 2-1 that civilian courts no longer have the authority to consider whether the military is illegally holding the prisoners — a decision that will strip court access for hundreds of detainees with cases currently pending.

Barring federal court access was a key provision in the Military Commissions Act, which Bush pushed through Congress last year to set up a system run by the Defence Department to prosecute terrorism suspects.

At the White House, deputy press secretary Dana Perino called the decision “a significant win” for the administration and said the Military Commissions Act provides “sufficient and fair access to courts for these detainees.”

Under the commissions act, the government can indefinitely detain foreigners who have been designated as “enemy combatants” and authorizes the CIA to use aggressive but undefined interrogation tactics.

Mostly criticized by Democrats and civil libertarians was a provision that stripped U.S. courts of the authority to hear arguments from detainees who said they were being held illegally.

Well! Judges who actually read the law, know the law and make their ruling based on the law! I'm impressed, especially after reading this:

Released Gitmo Detainee Arrested En Route to Iraq

Fahd al-Utaibi a/k/a Naif Fahd Al Aseemi Al Utaibi arrived in Saudi Arabia May 18, 2006 from Guantanamo, along with 14 others released by the US. He is currently on trial in Yemen for forging travel documents in order to join the jihad in Iraq.

The left, and the mainstream media will ignore this story and most of America will never know the true nature of the animals stored at Gitmo, being fed and clothed and coddled with American tax payer dollars.

Bottom line... the bastard should have been shot while trying to escape.

Iran and Syria Soul Mates Against USA and Israel

Assad, Ahmadinejad vow to form alliance against U.S., IsraelHaaretz

Iranian President Mahmoud Adhmadinejad and Syrian President Bashar Assad on Saturday vowed to form an alliance against what they called U.S. and Israeli conspiracies against the Islamic world.

The Iranian president also praised the agreement by rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah to form a unity government.

"Dispute among Muslim factions has always been harmful for regional nations and useful for Islam's enemies," he said.

"America's policies have failed in the region ... By creating divisions among Muslim nations, Washington wants to pursue its aims," IRNA quoted Assad as saying during his meeting with Ahmadinejad, who urged "Muslim countries to preserve unity."

Ahmadinejad said that what the US really aims for under the pretext of development in the region "is just another effort to strengthen its own status and that of the Zionists (Israel)."

The Syrian leader said Muslims worldwide should be informed about "the evil aims by the U.S. and Zionists" which he said were sowing discord among Muslims.

Assad arrived earlier Saturday in Tehran for a two-day visit to discuss developments in the Middle East and was scheduled to also meet Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, former president Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani and chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani.

On the agenda would be Iraq, Lebanon and cooperation with the Palestinians. Assad was in Tehran in August 2005 immediately after the start of Ahmadinejad's presidential term.

Ahmadinejad said earlier Saturday that Lebanon and Hezbollah have his complete support in their struggle against Israel and the United States.

"Iran and Lebanon are two parts of the same body, and only through cooperation between our two nations will it be possible to foil the conspiracies of the enemy," Ahmadinejad said.

"Thanks to Hezbollah, the Lebanese people have become a symbol of courage, faith and respect for all nations, and all this through the power of resistance," Ahmadinejad added.

Wild Thing's comment......

I would bet that the Democrats will be glad to give Iran and Syria a blank check from the US.

USS New York's Motto "Never Forget"

It was built with 24 tons of scrap steel from the World Trade Center.

It is the fifth in a new class of warship - designed for missions that include special operations against terrorists. It will carry a crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore by helicopters and assault craft.

Steel from the World Trade Center was melted down in a foundry in Amite, LA to cast the ship's bow section. When it was poured into the molds on Sept. 9, 2003, "those big rough steelworkers treated it with total &nbs p; reverence," recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there. "It was a spiritual moment for everybody there."

Junior Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that when the trade center steel first arrived, he touched it with his hand and the "hair on my neck stood up." "It had a big meaning to it for all of us," he said. "They knocked us down. They can't keep us down. We're going to be back."

The ship's motto? "Never Forget"

Treasonous Reid and Hillary Democrat Comrades

Clinton urges start of Iraq pullout in 90 days
Reuters/Yahoo news

U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, the early front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, has called for a 90-day deadline to start pulling American troops from Iraq.

"Now it's time to say the redeployment should start in 90 days or the Congress will revoke authorization for this war," the New York senator said in a video on her campaign Web site, repeating a point included in a bill she introduced on Friday.

In offering what she called a roadmap out of Iraq, Clinton said a visit there last month had made her more determined to start what she called a long overdue withdrawal.

Clinton's bill would cap the number of troops in Iraq at the January 1 level, prior to Bush's decision to add 21,500 to the approximately 130,000 soldiers already there.

Clinton's bill would require congressional authorization to exceed her proposed cap on U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

U.S. senators Harry Reid (D-NV) (R) and Charles Schumer (D-NY) hold a news conference about the Senate's failure to vote on a House resolution that opposes President George W. Bush's decision to send 21,500 more troops to Iraq, at the U.S. Capitol in Washington February 17, 2007. (Jonathan Ernst/Reuters)

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid released the following statement on the Saturday vote in the United States Senate.

"Today, a bipartisan majority of the United States Senate voted against the President's flawed plan to escalate the war. The Senate joined the House of Representatives, put itself on the record, and told the President that America needs a new direction in Iraq. As for the Republicans who chose once again to block further debate and protect President Bush, the American people now know they support the escalation. "
"Today's vote against the escalation is not the end of this Iraq debate in the Senate. This war is too important to permit Senate Republicans to brush it aside. The Bush Administration's failures have put our troops and America in a deep hole, and it is time for this country and this Congress to climb out. The Republican Leadership can run from this debate, but they can't hide. The Senate will keep fighting to force President Bush to change course."

Republicans who did vote for surrender cloture:

Coleman, Norm (MN)
Collins, Susan M. (ME)
Hagel, Chuck (NE)
Smith, Gordon H. (OR)
Snowe, Olympia J. (ME)
Specter, Arlen (PA)
Warner, John (VA)

Wild Thing's comment.......

The Democrats have based their entire future on the hopes that we fail in Iraq. So now they're doing all in their power to make that failure happen. Traitors all.

The terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan must be having quite the party following this traitorous BS happening in the Senate today. It sickens me that our service men and women have to see this Democrat driven treason.

As for LIAR Harry Reid, he assumes the White House will not challenge his statements and the NYT will carry his words all the way until they become accepted as truth. Hey Harry, The Senate is on record for not invoking cloture!!

From Roll Call.....

Despite falling four votes short of breaking a GOP filibuster, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) claimed a symbolic victory in the fight over the Iraq War today as Democrats mustered a bipartisan majority of 56 lawmakers to support taking up a resolution opposing President Bush’s plan to increase U.S. troop levels in the war-torn country.

I thought this was good.....It is from Investors.com

So fully have they committed themselves to losing that, should we win, they can take no credit whatsoever.

Having thus stuck their necks out, they will have been politically decapitated. They'll return in the minds of the public to being the party of higher taxes, out-of-control entitlement programs that they refuse to fix, abortion on demand, same-sex marriage and every other item in the far-left playbook.

The Democrats last week may just have voted themselves a one-way ticket back to the political wilderness and minority status.

COWARDS GIVE UP ON GIS - & GIVE IN TO EVIL
NY POST

by Ralph Peters

As a former soldier who still spends a good bit of time with those in uniform, what infuriates me personally is the Doublespeak, Stalin-Prize lie that undercutting our troops and encouraging our enemies is really a way to "support our troops."

As for bringing them home, why not respect the vote the troops themselves are taking: Sustained re-enlistment rates have been at a record high.

And our soldiers and Marines know they'll go back to Iraq or Afghanistan. And no, Senator Kerry, it's not because they're too stupid to get a "real" job like yours or because they're "mercenaries." Some Americans still believe in America.

If our troops are willing to fight this bitter war, how dare Congress knife them in the back?

On Thursday night, I was in Nashville as a guest of the 506th Regimental Combat Team - with whom I'd spent all too brief a time in Baghdad.

The occasion was their welcome-home ball, complete with dress uniforms spangled with awards for bravery. Proud spouses sat beside their returned warriors.

Of course, those soldiers were glad to be home with their loved ones. But they also know they'll go back to one theater of war or another - and no one complained.

They share a value that Congress has forgotten: duty. They're willing to bear the weight of the world on their shoulders. Because they know that freedom has a price.

As you entered the ballroom for the event, the first thing you saw was a line of 34 photographs. A single white candle softly lit each frame. Those were the members of the 506th who didn't come home.

Soldiers honor their dead. It's the least Congress could do to honor the living men and women in uniform.

You don't support our troops by supporting our enemies.

Wild Thing's comment......

Can you even imagine if someone had proposed such a resolution during WWII??? Kudos to the NY Post. They should have included photos of Murtha, Pelosi and Reid ....heck all of them on the cover.

A Hero Speaks For Our Troops ~ Not To Be Missed Video!!

The last Republican to speak against the Democrats' anti-surge, pro-defeat resolution yesterday was Sam Johnson of Texas. Johnson was a 29-year Air Force veteran, who flew something like 90 combat missions in Korea and Vietnam. He was shot down over North Vietnam and spent seven years as a POW, more than half of that time in solitary confinement. He returned to the U.S. in 1973 and was elected to Congress in 1991.

Coincidentally, this week in 1973 as one of the longest held captives, Johnson finally left Hanoi on February 12, 1973 and returned home to Texas on February 17, 1973.

He got a standing ovation from those in the House chamber, but see how few Democrats were willing to hear him speak.

As I watched this I cried, I cried in pride that we have Veterans like this man and Veterans like those of you here at Theodore's World blog. And for all the Veterans I have met and are my friends. I cried too for my broken heart that this is happening for a second time to our military that without them we have nothing!!!!!

I hope you all watching it and hear his voice, the whole thing, it is so moving and made my heart burst with pride.

Ladies and gentlemen I introduce to you....................

Congressman Johnson (R-TX) Floor Speech

I am putting the transcript of what he said as well........

Johnson’s floor statement follows:

"You know, I flew 62 combat missions in the Korean War and 25 missions in the Vietnam War before being shot down.

“I had the privilege of serving in the United States Air Force for 29 years, attending the prestigious National War College, and commanding two air bases, among other things.

“I mention these stories because I view the debate on the floor not just as a U.S. Congressman elected to serve the good people of the Third District in Texas, but also through the lens of a life-long fighter pilot, student of war, a combat warrior, a leader of men, and a Prisoner of War.

“Ironically, this week marks the anniversary that I started a new life – and my freedom from prison in Hanoi.

“I spent nearly seven years as a Prisoner of War in Vietnam, more than half of that time in solitary confinement. I flew out of Hanoi on February 12, 1973 with other long-held Prisoners of War – weighing just 140 pounds. And tomorrow – 34 years ago, I had my homecoming to Texas – a truly unspeakable blessing of freedom.

“While in solitary confinement, my captors kept me in leg stocks, like the pilgrims… for 72 days….

“As you can imagine, they had to carry me out of the stocks because I couldn’t walk. The following day, they put me in leg irons… for 2 ½ years. That’s when you have a tight metal cuff around each ankle – with a foot-long bar connecting the legs.

“I still have little feeling in my right arm and my right hand… and my body has never been the same since my nearly 2,500 days of captivity.

“But I will never let my physical wounds hold me back.

“Instead, I try to see the silver lining. I say that because in some way … I’m living a dream…a hope I had for the future.

“From April 16, 1966 to February 12, 1973 – I prayed that I would return home to the loving embrace of my wife, Shirley, and my three kids, Bob, Gini, and Beverly…

“And my fellow POWs and I clung to the hope of when – not if – we returned home.

“We would spend hours tapping on the adjoining cement walls about what we would do when we got home to America.

“We pledged to quit griping about the way the government was running the war in Vietnam and do something about it… We decided that we would run for office and try to make America a better place for all.

“So – little did I know back in my rat-infested 3 x 8 dark and filthy cell that 34 years after my departure from Hell on Earth… I would spend the anniversary of my release pleading for a House panel to back my measure to support and fully fund the troops in harm’s way….and that just days later I would be on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives surrounded by distinguished veterans urging Congress to support our troops to the hilt.

“We POWs were still in Vietnam when Washington cut the funding for Vietnam. I know what it does to morale and mission success. Words can not fully describe the horrendous damage of the anti-American efforts against the war back home to the guys on the ground.

“Our captors would blare nasty recordings over the loud speaker of Americans protesting back home…tales of Americans spitting on Vietnam veterans when they came home... and worse.

“We must never, ever let that happen again.

“The pain inflicted by your country’s indifference is tenfold that inflicted by your ruthless captors.

“Our troops – and their families – want, need and deserve the full support of the country – and the Congress. Moms and dads watching the news need to know that the Congress will not leave their sons and daughters in harm’s way without support.

“Since the President announced his new plan for Iraq last month, there has been steady progress. He changed the rules of engagement and removed political protections.

“There are reports we wounded the number two of Al Qaeda and killed his deputy. Yes, Al Qaeda operates in Iraq. It’s alleged that top radical jihadist Al-Sadr has fled Iraq – maybe to Iran. And Iraq’s closed its borders with Iran and Syria. The President changed course and offered a new plan …we are making progress. We must seize the opportunity to move forward, not stifle future success.

“Debating non-binding resolutions aimed at earning political points only destroys morale, stymies success, and emboldens the enemy.

“The grim reality is that this House measure is the first step to cutting funding of the troops…Just ask John Murtha about his ‘slow-bleed’ plan that hamstrings our troops in harm’s way.

“Now it’s time to stand up for my friends who did not make it home – and those who fought and died in Iraq - so I can keep my promise that when we got home we would quit griping about the war and do something positive about it…and we must not allow this Congress to leave these troops like the Congress left us.

“Today, let my body serve as a brutal reminder that we must not repeat the mistakes of the past… instead learn from them.

“We must not cut funding for our troops. We must stick by them. We must support them all the way…To our troops we must remain…always faithful.

“God bless you and I salute you all. Thank you.”

Schumer ~ Democrats Will Be "Relentless"

Senate Democrats promise `relentless' flood of anti-war legislation
Kansas City.com

The tough talk came a day after the House of Representatives passed its own anti-Iraq resolution and as the GOP used a procedural vote to stop the Senate from taking a position on the 21,500 troop increase.

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., said Democrats would be "relentless."

"There will be resolution after resolution, amendment after amendment . . . just like in the days of Vietnam," Schumer said. "The pressure will mount, the president will find he has no strategy, he will have to change his strategy and the vast majority of our troops will be taken out of harm's way and come home."

Republicans Sens. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, John Warner of Virginia, Olympia Snowe of Maine, Gordon Smith of Oregon and Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania sided with Democrats in calling for debate to begin, as did the two Republicans already on board, Sens. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., and Susan Collins, R-Maine. Independent Democrat Joe Lieberman of Connecticut joined the 33 Republicans to block the vote.

Wild Thing's comment.......

I realize none of us are surprised to hear that the left wants another Vietnam. I'm only posting this because I'm surprised they're willing to talk about their goals so openly. I have been disappointed with the President on several different issues, but I'll bet big money that he will not buckle in to these traitors. Bush will go mano-to-mano with these pukes and prevail.

The one thing the Dems cannot tolerate is the potential the troup buildup might work. This would destroy their chances in the 2008 elections. For them to succeed, the US must fail in Iraq. This is the Dems Second Tet Offensive.

Wild Thing's comment......

Every single one of those that voted for this should be executed for treason. I am fed up with their loathing of our fight against Islam that wants us all dead. NO way are these people NOT informed. No way are they illiterate and don't know any better. This is an agenda of the worst order and it IS against America and our troops.

Today's action by the Democrats and a few Republicans will be interpreted by the mullas as weakness , thus ensuring another major attack in the U.S. These Democrats and the seventeen former Republicans have just voted in the most binding of all ways to cut the heart out of troop morale, to aid our sworn enemies abroad, and to give assistance and comfort to the leftists and Marxists in the Democratic Party, and their Old Media buddies.

As far as I am concerned there are TWO wars, one that our military is fighting against Islam, and the other back here at home....the war against the enemy within. God help us, God help America and God please protect our troops.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear."- Marcus Tullius Cicero

Traitor John al-Murtha and the Democrats Plan for Defeat

"They won't be able to continue. They won't be able to do the deployment. They won't have the equipment, they don't have the training and they won't be able to do the work. There’s no question in my mind.”
– John Murtha

Washington Times

In the wake of September 11, McGovernism -- that is, the reflexive opposition to the use of force by the United States against foreign enemies that has dogged the Democratic Party since Richard Nixon's time -- became more of a liability than ever.

But in last year's congressional elections, the Democrats came up with a shrewd, cynical new P.R. strategy that has until now served them well: saying lots of nice things about American soldiers fighting in Iraq while simultaneously advancing resolutions that denigrate their mission. But the decision to effectively cut off funds by micromanaging their use -- rather than by doing so directly -- may also be unconstitutional.

When the House votes today on the resolution denouncing Mr. Bush's plans for additional troops to combat al Qaeda and other terrorist groups in Iraq, members should be under no illusions about what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democratic Party leadership are trying to do: to make it impossible for American troops to properly do their job in Iraq.

In an interview yesterday with MoveCongress.org, a Web site for a coalition of anti-war groups, Mr. Murtha, who chairs the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, explained that by placing conditions on $93.4 billion in new combat funds, he would make be able to effectively stop the troops in their tracks.

"They won't be able to continue. They won't be able to do the deployment. They won't have the equipment, they don't have the training and they won't be able to do the work. There's no question in my mind," Mr. Murtha said.
"We will set benchmarks for readiness," a top Democratic leadership aide told the nonpartisan Politico.com Web site, which summarized the Democrats' strategy this way: "If enacted, these provisions would have the effect of limiting the number of troops available for the Bush surge plan, while blunting the GOP charge that Democrats are cutting funding for the troops in Iraq."

Aside from doing severe damage to the war effort in Iraq, the Democrats' political strategy to cripple the war effort by attaching thousands of legislative strings to war funding may also be unconstitutional. Noted attorney and constitutional scholar David Rivkin makes a strong case that Congress cannot act like a "puppet master" appropriating and authorizing funds while attaching conditions that would effectively transform the president into a marionette.

If Congress wants to cut off funding, it must do so honestly and directly, rather than dishonestly through micromanagement. In addition to paving the way for a geopolitical catastrophe for this country, the Democratic leadership may be setting the stage for a constitutional confrontation with the White House.

HERE is Murthda and the Democrats plan Murtha describes his strategy for not only limiting the deployment of troops to Iraq but undermining other aspects of the president’s foreign and national security policy. If you have the stomach to watch this entire thing ... do!

Wild Thing's comment.......

What a loathsome scourge has been unleashed upon our country!!! OH and get this, one of the Haditha Marines who Murtha called a cold-blooded killer is actually from Murtha's district?
Darryl Sharratt (father of LCpl. Justin Sharratt) has asked repeatedly sent requests to meet with Murtha or anyone in his office. Darryl has never even had the courtesy of a returned phone call.

It comes down to this in pure vile fact!!

The Bush administration "won't be able to continue.
They won't be able to do the deployment.
They won't have the equipment.
They don't have the training and they won't be able to do the work,"
Murtha said in the post on the Democrat-friendly Web site MoveCongress.org.
"This vote will limit the options of the president and should stop this surge."

From the information I have read, this strategy is already well underway. In acting on the Omnibus spending bill, the Congress has cut the Army budget for BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) in half. Since BRAC is mandated by law, the Army will have to move money from other accounts in order to meet the BRAC statuatory requirements. One way they have done this is to inactivate the 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division rather than to move this brigade from Germany to Fort Bliss (this brigade is just now returning from a tour in Iraq). This will make the brigade unavailable for a return deployment to Iraq when their turn next comes.

Democrats are also moving to remove funding for an Army Stryker Brigade's equipment from the Supplemental Funding bill. This means that this brigade cannot convert as scheduled and therefore will not be available for deployment to Iraq.

Their scheme is designed to fool the American people by saying that they are "supporting the troops" and "funding the troops". Neither statement is true. They are supporting the enemy, of that there is no doubt.

The President said of Congresses' plans: 'I hope they don't do anything to stop the troops from doing what I told them to do'. I'm hoping with all my heart that those words mean what they would coming fom a Man(as opposed to a politician).

Push these clowns to the edge, Mr. President, you might be surprised at the resolve of those of us and others behind you.

Pelosi: Bush Lacks Authority to Invade

Pelosi: Bush Lacks Authority to Invade
apnews....complete story at link
WASHINGTON

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that President Bush lacks the authority to invade Iran without specific approval from Congress, a fresh challenge to the commander in chief on the eve of a symbolic vote critical of his troop buildup in Iraq.

Pelosi, D-Calif., noted that Bush consistently said he supports a diplomatic resolution to differences with Iran "and I take him at his word."
At the same time, she said, "I do believe that Congress should assert itself, though, and make it very clear that there is no previous authority for the president, any president, to go into Iran."

But Bush took a swipe at his critics during the day.

"This may become the first time in the history of the United States Congress that it has voted to send a new commander into battle and then voted to oppose his plan that is necessary to succeed in that battle," the president said.

The Senate unanimously confirmed Lt. Gen David Petraeus last week to take over as the top U.S. commander in Iraq.

Wild Thing's comment.......

OK this is weird, I have not heard Bush say he was going to attack Iran...not yet.

I thought Bush had every authority he needs to protect the troops and the Country. Pelosi does not have the authority to stop him from doing either. Even though she wants her airplane better yet broom. Because she is third in line...I am so sick of the liberal dems today and the comments they read..I could just puke. They are the biggest bunch of traitors this Country has ever seen.

Pelosi is not only a biased liar, she cannot read. The military authority that Congress voted for President Bush in 2001 did the same thing that Congress authorized for President Jefferson two centuries before. Both times, Congress authorized the use of "military force" across "international boundaries." And Pelosi voted for both of the authorizations that Congress gave to Bush.

If she wants it to be different, she can introduce a Joint Resolution to change that. Instead, she's trying to lie her way out of the box she's in. However, she's right on the mark to count on the press to cover for her dishonesty.

I would reply to Speaker Pelosi, "And if Mahmoud Ahmadinejad erases Israel from the face of the Earth with his "peaceful" nuclear weapons, can we count on the Democratic Congress to stand by their decision to permit it? Let's just get it on record that the Democratic Congress approves of the continued nuclear ambitions and overt threats of a madman."

What a bunch of morons. The way to win this war is to stop trying to keep everybody happy. It is war after all, people die on both sides. We need to LET THE DOGS OF WAR OUT! This new strategy is already working. Check out the following site for additional information.

Hillary Buys Black Vote in South Carolina

U.S. Presidential candidate, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) looks at a model of the U.S. Capitol Building that was presented to her as an award during an event on Capitol Hill in Washington, February 15, 2007

Hillary Clinton Buying Black Vote for $200,000
newsmax

The press reported on Tuesday that Sen. Hillary Clinton had scored a coup in the presidential race by winning the endorsement of a key black political leader in South Carolina, state Sen. Darrell Jackson.

Now it has come to light that just days earlier, Clinton’s campaign reached a deal to pay Jackson’s consulting firm $10,000 a month through the 2008 elections – a deal worth more than $200,000.

"Jackson had also been in talks with Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign about endorsing him and entering into a consulting contract for more than $5,000, sources said – raising questions about whether Jackson’s endorsement was bought by a higher bidder,” the New York Post reported.

Jackson – who is also the minister of a large church in the state capital, Columbia – acknowledged that he should have revealed his financial dealings with the Clinton campaign when he and fellow state Sen. Robert Ford, who is also African-American, endorsed Clinton.

But he told the Post: "It’s not about the money – there were some other candidates who offered to double Clinton’s offer,” Jackson told the Post, although he declined to name them.

Support from black voters is key in South Carolina, where 49 percent of the Democratic presidential primary vote came from blacks in 2004. The state will host the first Southern primaries for both the Democrats and the GOP in 2008.

A Gathering Of Eagles ~ March 17 ~ Vietnam Veterans Wall

Leftist activists who march to the Pentagon next month will discover that their path won't be as clear as it has been in the past.

The group, led by Cindy Sheehan, Jane Fonda, Ramsey Clark and their ilk, plan to gather March 17 at the Vietnam Memorial Wall to begin a march to protest America's involvement in the Iraq war. The date marks the fourth anniversary of the war's beginning.

This time, however, protestors will see objectors if they spit on Iraqi veterans again, or throw paint on a war memorial. This time, they will encounter a buzz saw of Vietnam veterans and supporters who will gather to protect the Wall, and show their support for U.S. troops. The counter-protestors are calling themselves the Gathering of Eagles.

Click the image to learn more, then check out the new Gathering of Eagles blog here and the forum here. It's time to get involved, people. If you can't make it to Washington that day, won't you at least help spread the word?

"We'll be there to act as a countervailing force against the Cindy Sheehan-Jane Fonda march from the Vietnam Memorial to the Pentagon," retired Navy Capt. Larry Bailey said. "We will protect the Vietnam Memorial. If they try to deface it, there will be some violence, I guarantee you."

Bailey and thousands of his fellow Vietnam vets are worried that the anti-war protesters will damage the wall, just as they spray-painted the steps of the Capitol at their last march.

The wall is sacred to the men and women who fought in that war.

"It is our contact with our dead brothers -- those who lost their lives in the cause of their country," Bailey said.

"And so it is that Washington will see a Gathering of Eagles - Americans determined to stand up against leftist propagandists who denigrate U.S. troops and the mission for which they sometimes sacrifice their lives.

Retired Col. Harry Riley organized the Gathering of Eagles. Organizers hope thousands will show up in Washington from as far away as Hawaii, and they won't only be Vietnam veterans. Families, friends and veterans of other wars, including Iraq, and soldiers still on active duty, will be there to defend the Wall.

"When we say a gathering of eagles, that signifies people who support the American way," Bailey said.

Rolling Thunder ® will also be joining "Gathering of Eagles"

THE SPIRIT OF THE WALL
The Viet Nam Veteran's Memorial

I STOOD BEFORE THE WALL TODAY ...
COMPLETELY UNPREPARED
FOR THE BITTERSWEET EMOTIONS
THAT RAINED DOWN UPON MY HEAD.

MORE THAN THIRTY YEARS HAVE COME ... AND GONE
SINCE THAT AWFUL WAR WAS FOUGHT ...
I THOUGHT THE PAIN HAD 'GONE AWAY'
I WAS SURPRISED THAT IT HAD NOT.

WE SENT OUR BEST AND BRIGHTEST LIGHTS
TO A JUNGLE FAR AWAY ...
WHERE FOR A CAUSE SO GOOD AND NOBLE,
WE COMMITTED TO THE FRAY.

I CANNOT BEGIN TO TELL YOU
OF ALL THE PAIN WITHIN THE WALL ...
OR HOW IT WAS 'WE, THE PEOPLE'
WHO SCORNED OUR SOLDIERS, ONE AND ALL.

AS I LOOKED AT ALL THE MANY NAMES
ENGRAVED UPON THIS WALL
I REACHED OUT WITH A TREMBLING HAND,
AS IF ... TO CATCH THEM ... AS THEY'D FALL.

MY HEART, I THOUGHT, IS BREAKING
FOR THE LIVES THEY'D NEVER KNOW ...
AND, AS I HEARD THAT LONELY BUGLE PLAY.
I THOUGHT OF THOSE WHO'D LOVED THEM SO ...

AND THEN ...
I SAW A MAN - NO LONGER YOUNG
KNEELING AT THE WALL...
HIS FINGERS TOUCHED BUT JUST ONE NAME ...
I HEARD HIM WHISPER ...'THROUGH IT ALL'

OUR SOLDIERS NEVER FALTERED ...
NEVER SAID THEY WOULDN'T GO ...
AND , AGAIN, THIS DAY, THEY FIGHT FOR ME
IN SPITE OF 'EVERYTHING THEY KNOW'.

I STOOD BEFORE THE WALL TODAY ...
AND REMEMBERED.

Wild Thing's comment.....

At the anti-war protest in Washington , D.C. 2 weeks ago there was A LOT of damage done at the Capitol steps. We cannot and will not allow this to happen at The Wall or to any of our memorials.

I hope and pray I will be able to go. I fell back in November on our kitchen floor after stubbing my toe on a hutch at the entrance of the kitchen. The floor is tile ( very hard) and I really messed myself up. My left thumb they told me has the bone ripped away from the knuckle. My right knee is numb I guess I messed up my nerve endings in my kneecap. And my left deltoid and humus has been in pain now for 3 months. I go today to get an MRI done to see if something is needing to be fixed like the bone or the muscle might be torn. I pray it can be something I won't need a stupid operation, because it if is I can't go. And I want to go so badly. I put off the MRI because I kept thinking it would get better. augh! No such luck and it is killing me. haha sheesh what a mess. I still feel like a Mac truck hit me. And all because I stubbed my toe, how stupid is that.

I am only mentioning these things because if there is anyway to be there I truly feel this is so important. I want to go. If I can't go of course I will be there in spirit and in my heart and soul. If not it would only be due to surgery and needing to stay away from long trips for awhile. My fingers are crossed and I am filled with hope and a prayer that I can make it.

Muslim Rep. Ellison Calls The Cops To Snuff Tancredo’s Cigar

Rep. Ellison calls the cops to snuff Tancredo’s cigar The Hill...complete article

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) believes it is his right as a Muslim to be sworn into Congress with the Quran. But apparently, the freshman lawmaker doesn’t believe it’s Rep. Tom Tancredo’s (R-Colo.) right to smoke a cigar in his congressional office.

Ellison’s office called the Capitol Hill Police on Tancredo last Wednesday night as Tancredo was in his office smoking a cigar. The lawmakers have neighboring offices on the first floor of the Longworth House Office Building.

Tancredo was still stunned a day later. “It’s very bizarre,” said Tancredo, who has never met Ellison. “Seemed to me not a good way to say hello.”

And let’s face it. Calling the cops on a colleague takes the cake for the nerviest behavior so far among members of this year’s freshman class of Congress.

This is how it all went down. On Wednesday evening, around 6 p.m., Tancredo was preparing for his trip to Mississippi. And as he so often does, he was unwinding with a cigar.

Soon enough, however, a police officer walked in to check on the smoke. The officer told Tancredo that the officer came because he was required to do so and not because the officer wanted to. The officer had already told Ellison that Tancredo was permitted to smoke in his office. The visit was more a formality.

Tancredo said he would not stop smoking in his office. “Heck, no!” he said. “If he [Ellison] would have [had] the courtesy to say something I’m sure I would have been more accommodating to his wishes.”

To help keep his office free of impurities, Tancredo has three air purifiers.

And he has no plans to meet Ellison anytime soon. “I’m sure we will, but I’m not going to make a point of it,” the presidential hopeful said, adding that he supported Ellison’s right to be sworn in with the Quran.
Ellison’s press secretary, Rick Jauert, made the call to the Superintendent’s office when he noticed the smoke. “I called because the smoke was coming through the walls,” Jauert said, adding that the Superintendent’s office referred him to the Capitol Police.
Jauert said he then informed his boss what he had done. He said “fine,” Jauert said. “He’s complained of the smoke before.”

Wild Thing's comment.....

Interesting to note here that Muslim Ellison was informed earlier that Tancredo had every right to smoke in his own office. And yet Muslim Ellison said it was "fine" with him for his employee to do what was done calling in the Capitol Police. I love Tancredo's response to Muslim Ellison.....Tancredo to Ellison... kiss my red, white, and blue a$$... ha ha! Poor guy, he has the Taliban next door.

Coward Al_Sadr Jihad Without Me As He Runs To Iran

Al Sadr Fled Iraq, Fearing U.S. Bombs

Insurgent Leader Reportedly Moved to Iran With Members of Mahdi Army
abc news

While members of the U.S. House of Representatives take turns weighing in on President Bush's planned troop surge in Iraq, the focus in Iraq is not on the arrival of more U.S. troops, but the departure of one of the country's most powerful men, Moqtada al Sadr and members of his army.

According to senior military officials, al Sadr left Baghdad two to three weeks ago and fled to Tehran, Iran, where he has family.

Sources say some of the Mahdi army leadership went with al Sadr.

Though he is gone for now, many think al Sadr is not gone for good. In Tehran he is trying to keep the Madhi militia together.

In recent months al Sadr has come to the political table to force change rather than using military force to have an impact. Sources say an even more extreme faction within his militia isn't pleased with this turn of events, and is trying to force the cleric to respond to recent Sunni attacks with more violence.

U.S. officials say they are going to watch those member of the Mahdi army left behind in Baghdad. Sources say two scenarios are possible: Either al Sadr will be driven further into extremist mode or he will continue going forward with the political process.

Words Mean Something You POS Articulate ? and Clean? Obama

Obama criticizes war in Iraq and says soldiers killed in Iraq "wasted" lives
AMES, Iowa
Sioux City Journal
A day after jumping into the presidential race, Democrat Barack Obama began the courting of Iowa party activists Sunday with a blistering critique of the war in Iraq.

More than 6,000 people who came to hear him at the Iowa State University campus saved their biggest cheers for his criticism of the war.

"We ended up launching a war that should have never been authorized, and should have never been waged, and to which we now have spent $400 billion and have seen over 3,000 lives of the bravest young Americans wasted," Obama said.

Obama Restructures a Remark on Deaths
NYTimes
Then Senator Barack Obama of Illinois said Monday that he had misspoken when he suggested that the lives of more than 3,000 American soldiers killed in Iraq had been “wasted.”

As he arrived in New Hampshire, Mr. Obama said he would “absolutely apologize” to military families if they were offended by a remark he made in Iowa while criticizing the Bush administration’s Iraq policy.

“What I would say — and meant to say — is that their service hasn’t been honored,” Mr. Obama told reporters in Nashua, N.H., “because our civilian strategy has not honored their courage and bravery, and we have put them in a situation in which it is hard for them to succeed.”

A New Hampshire reporter asked Mr. Obama whether he regretted the remark, made at a rally on Sunday that “we ended up launching a war that should have never been authorized and should have never been waged, and to which we now have spent $400 billion and have seen over 3,000 lives of the bravest young Americans wasted.”

“Even as I said it,” Mr. Obama said Monday, “I realized I had misspoken.”

Wild Thing's comment.......
Wasted? Only to an unAmerican, socialist chickensh!t like you Obama. Go back to the madrasa where you can be with like minded death cult worshippers.

And oh by the way, I DON'T accept your flimsy apology you freak.

Austrian Sniper Rifles From Iran Found In Baghdad Home

US soldiers during a house search for insurgents, in eastern Baghdad found more than a hundred Austrian-made sniper rifles, which were sold to Iran, in a Baghdad raid on insurgents. The .50 calibre weapons, which are capable of penetrating body armour, were part of a shipment of 800 rifles exported by Austrian arms manufacturer Steyr-Mannlicher to Iran last year.

Iraqi insurgents using Austrian rifles from Iran
Telegraph

Austrian sniper rifles that were exported to Iran have been discovered in the hands of Iraqi terrorists. More than 100 of the.50 calibre weapons, capable of penetrating body armour, have been discovered by American troops during raids.

The guns were part of a shipment of 800 rifles that the Austrian company, Steyr-Mannlicher, exported legally to Iran last year.

The sale was condemned in Washington and London because officials were worried that the weapons would be used by insurgents against British and American troops.

Within 45 days of the first HS50 Steyr Mannlicher rifles arriving in Iran, an American officer in an armoured vehicle was shot dead by an Iraqi insurgent using the weapon.

Over the last six months American forces have found small caches of the £10,000 rifles but in the last 24 hours a raid in Baghdad brought the total to more than 100, US defence sources reported.

The find is the latest in a series of discoveries that indicate that Teheran is providing support to Iraq's Shia insurgents.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, yesterday denied that Iran had supplied weapons to Iraqi insurgents. But on Sunday US officials in Baghdad displayed a range of weapons they claimed had originated in Iran.

They said 170 American and British soldiers had been killed by such weapons.

The Foreign Office expressed "serious concerns" over the sale of the rifles last year and Britain protested to the Austrian government.

A Foreign Office spokesman said last night: "Although we did make our worries known the sale unfortunately went ahead and now the potential that these weapons could fall into the wrong hands appears to have happened."

The rifle can pierce all body armour from up to a mile and penetrate armoured Humvee troop carriers. It is highly accurate and fires a round called an armour piercing incendiary, a bullet that the Iranians manufacture.

The National Iranian Police Organisation bought the rifles allegedly to use them against drug smugglers in an £8 million order placed with Steyr in 2005.

The company was given permission to export them by the Austrian government, which is not a Nato member.

Wild Thing's comment.......

Well this just ticks me the heck off.

We asked them not to, England asked them not to. So why can't we demand countries not do such things, yes I know, but these terrorists are the enemy of the entire world, so how stupid or greedy does a person (country) have to be to sell to Iran when the intelligence collectors inform said leaders of these countries like Austria telling them of the desire for these death cult freakazoids wanting them dead as much as us, as much as our troops??!!

Aren’t they privy to the same information we are, heck we learn a ton of things just online. Go figure how much more the leaders of countries find out about then we are able to see.

Something more about this sniper rifle:

Steyr .50HS heavy sniper rifle, with folded bipod
Caliber: .50BMG (12.7x99mm) or .460Steyr
Operation: manually operated rotating bolt action
Barrel: 833 mm (33")
Weight: 12.4 kg
Length: 1370 mm (54")
Feed Mechanism: single shot, no magazine

The Steyr .50 HS is the most recent development of the famous Austrian arms manufacturer, the Steyr Mannlicher Gmbh & Co KG. First displayed at the ShotShow-2004 (February 2004, Las-Vegas, USA), this single shot rifle is primary intended for anti-material applications and counter-sniping. The Steyr .50HS is available in two calibers, the old and venerable .50BMG and the apparently new .460Steyr (on which so far no data were obtained).

The Steyr .50 HS is a single shot rifle, with manually operated, rotating bolt with two large locking lugs at the front. The two-stage trigger is factory set to 4lbs (1.8kg). The buttstock is adjustable for length of pull, the cheekpiece is also adjustable. Heavy barrel is partially fluted and fitted with effective muzzle brake. Steyr .50 HS has no iron sights; the MilStd Picatinny rail is standard. Rifle is not intended to be fired off-hand; it is fitted with integral folding adjustable bipods.

EU Land Says Too Late To Halt Iran’s Nuclear Bomb

EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana

Too late to halt Iran’s nuclear bomb, EU is told

By Daniel Dombey and Fidelius Schmid in Brussels

Published: February 12 2007 22:18
Financial Times..complete article

Iran will be able to develop enough weapons-grade material for a nuclear bomb and there is little that can be done to prevent it, an internal European Union document has concluded.

In an admission of the international community’s failure to hold back Iran’s nuclear ambitions, the document – compiled by the staff of Javier Solana, EU foreign policy chief – says the atomic programme has been delayed only by technical limitations rather than diplomatic pressure. “Attempts to engage the Iranian administration in a negotiating process have not so far succeeded,” it states.

“At some stage we must expect that Iran will acquire the capacity to enrich uranium on the scale required for a weapons programme,” says the paper, dated February 7 and circulated to the EU’s 27 national governments ahead of a foreign ministers meeting yesterday.
“In practice . . . the Iranians have pursued their programme at their own pace, the limiting factor being technical difficulties rather than resolutions by the UN or the International Atomic Energy Agency.
“The problems with Iran will not be resolved through economic sanctions alone.”

Wild Thing's comment.......

Well, they can't say Iran wasn't warned. EU land where stopping global warming, free healthcare, and 30 hour work weeks are more important than national security, fiscal sanity, and the future. Europe is sick.

There is little that Europe can and will do to prevent the Iranians from developing the bomb. The reason these clowns bring this up is that they expect the US to step in to save their worthless asses again. There's basically an anti-survival movement that's taken over western civilization. Especially Europe. Even if they knew the date and time for sure when islamic nukes would go off, I doubt even their leaders would bother to evacuate.

Want A License? You Need To Speak English!

Mont. Drivers Would Have to Know English

HELENA, Mont.
TBO.com

State lawmakers are considering a proposal that would require drivers to prove proficiency in English before receiving a license.

Republican Rep. Dennis Himmelberger said the state has an interest in making sure everyone can read road signs and communicate with police.

"I think this is going to become almost inevitable, some type of bill like this," he said.

Himmelberger said his proposal would require examiners to determine if an applicant needs a proficiency test. Examiners would also determine applicants' citizenship and note their home country on the license.

A House committee took no immediate action on the measure Monday.

Jim Reed of the National Conference of State Legislatures said he was unaware of any other state that requires an English proficiency test. "Some states require that drivers' tests be given only in English", he said.

Wild Thing's comment.......

If I moved to another country and planned to live there, any country that does not have English as their primary language. France, Italy, whatever just for my own sake I would want to learn the language of that country.

Sunni Arab States Ordering More Weapons

Defence ministers from Sunni Arab states are preparing to spend enormous sums at the Idex arms fair in Abu Dhabi next week

Gulf states load up on weapons of war
Telegraph.co.uk...for complete article

Leaders of Sunni Arab states are embarking on a military spending spree in an attempt to contain the growing threat from Iran.

Alarmed by the progress of Iran's nuclear programme and the prospect of a military clash between its Shia regime and the United States, Gulf leaders intend to use billions of dollars of oil revenue to purchase a huge array of military hardware.

Many of the deals will be finalised at a massive arms fair due to open in the United Arab Emirates next Sunday.

Saudi Arabia alone has a shopping list that runs to almost $50 billion, including fighter aircraft, cruise missiles, attack helicopters and more than 300 new tanks.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has earmarked $2 billion for a rapid reaction brigade - possibly to take a lead role in a regional protection force. Another $6 billion will go on missile defence batteries, airborne early warning systems and aircraft.

Both countries are members of the Gulf Co-operation Council, established in 1984 to provide security against the threat posed by Iran. Other members, including Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar, are expected to spend heavily in the coming months.

Many are now convinced that the only way to avoid being sucked into a war between the US and Iran, or being caught up in the turbulence that would follow, is to beef up their own defences.

American plans for a possible attack on Iran's nuclear sites are reported to be well advanced, despite public denials, and many in the Gulf states fear that they could be caught in the backlash.

One highly placed Saudi diplomatic source said that there were concerns about America's intentions and doubts about the real threat from Iran.

Wild Thing's comment......

Thanks to the NY Times and other media outlets I guess they know about our shops in the Gulf.

US Hits Back After Putin Tirade

President Vladimir Putin speaking at the Conference on Security Policy in Munich

US Hits Back After Putin Tirade
By Adrian Blomfield in Moscow

The United States and Russia were locked in a bitter war of words yesterday as officials reacted furiously to a speech by Vladimir Putin that represented the most ferocious attack on US policy by a Russian leader since the Cold War.

Although Mr Gates sought to cool some of the angry rhetoric flying between the two former Cold War adversaries by describing Russia as a "partner", he added: "We wonder too about some Russian policies that seem to work against international stability such as its arms transfers and its temptation to use energy resources for political coercion."

The comments, echoed by officials across the US political spectrum, came a day after astonished delegates listened to an unprecedented tirade from the Russian leader that was at times reminiscent of Nikita Khrushchev's shoe-banging rhetoric.

Reflecting the growing chill in relations between the two countries, Mr Putin accused the United States of trying to subjugate the world and termed its policy in the Middle East as "unilateral and frequently illegitimate."
"Today we are witnessing an almost uncontained hyper-use of military force in international relations that is plunging the world into an abyss of permanent conflict," he said.
"The United States has overstepped its national borders in every way. This is extremely dangerous. It results in the fact that no-one feels safe because no-one can feel that international law is like a stone wall that can protect them."

While many of the assembled European politicians may have secretly agreed with Mr Putin's feelings on America's invasion of Iraq, fear of Russia's democratic trajectory and growing energy might united delegates in condemnation of the speech.

Mr Gates, a former CIA officer, tried to put Mr Putin's comments down to the Russian president's KGB background.

"I guess old spies have a habit of blunt speaking," he said. "However I've been to re-education camp," — a jibe that won approving laughter and applause from the audience. "One Cold War was quite enough."

But western diplomats argued yesterday that Mr Putin's speech reflected as much weakness as it did strength.

Russia's military hardware is largely rusting and, even though the Kremlin may be trying to develop new missiles, it has lost the nuclear race.

"Putin's speech was in part impotent rage," said a Western diplomat. "He's a strong believer that the Cold War principle of Mutually Assured Destruction made the world a safer place." "When he railed against a unipolar world, he was essentially acknowledging that for the first time in 50 years the United States has reached nuclear primacy."

Wild Thing's comment......

What did Putin run out of spies to poison?

Putin sounds like he is a member in good standing with the Democrat party and their same talking points. They've opened up weakness in the superpower...any other competing power is naturally going to take whatever advantage is there to take when the dominant power has a crisis of confidence, division or disruption. The Democrats, in their obsession for power and control, have given that to both our enemies and our competitors. So Putin takes advantage of it and tries to enhance it by jumping on. We should expect that, everyone's going to have at us...that's why the Democrats are so damned destructive to US.

It's classic: The Democrats would rather rule in hell than serve in heaven.

ALL 435 House Members To See Classified Iraq Intelligence Papers Tuesday

All 435 House Members Can See Iraq Intelligence -- and Talk on Iraq Next Week

The Politico

To the surprise of the Bush administration, the House Intelligence Committee voted unanimously Wednesday night to allow all 435 House members to see the classified version of the National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq sent to the White House last week. The report is classified in part because it contains information about sources and methods used in intelligence-gathering.

The document will provide fuel for a House debate, scheduled to begin Tuesday, on a resolution of disapproval of President Bush’s plan to boost U.S. troop strength in Iraq. Remarkably, each House member will be given five minutes to speak. The decision to provide such broad access to the microphones is based on the fact that each member got the chance to speak before the Iraq war began, according to House leadership aides.

In announcing the vote to allow all members access to the classified portion of the NIE, the committee said those examining it “will be required to review the document in the Committee's secure offices in the Capitol and sign a secrecy oath.” The members will not be allowed to leave with notes, congressional sources said.

The White House was not informed or consulted about the decision. Such access for members is rare but not unprecedented. The document had been made available to members of several committees with jurisdiction over the intelligence community, but other lawmakers would have needed to request permission to read it. The committee had received written requests from one Republican and one Democrat, plus some other informal inquires, and decided it would be better to allow blanket access instead of voting on each request, congressional sources said.

The report, called “Prospects for Iraq’s Stability: A Challenging Road Ahead,” was approved Jan. 29 by the heads of the government’s 16 intelligence agencies. It paints a generally bleak picture of conditions in Iraq and warns that without successful efforts to rein in insurgent violence and political extremism, the overall security situation “will continue to deteriorate” at current rates for the next 12 to 18 months, the period covered by the report.

The decision raised fears among some Republicans that members not used to dealing with classified information might play fast and loose with what they saw. But Rep. Silvestre Reyes, D-Texas, chairman of the Intelligence Committee, said in a statement: "It is critical that all Members of Congress understand the consensus view of the Intelligence Community on the gravity of the situation in Iraq and the consequences for U.S. troops and our long-term national security interests."

Republicans who voted for this:

Peter Hoekstra, Republican -- Michigan
Ray LaHood, Republican -- Illinois
Terry Everett, Republican -- Alabama
Elton Gallegly, Republican -- California
Heather Wilson, Republican -- New Mexico
Jo Ann Davis, Republican -- Virginia
Mac Thornberry, Republican -- Texas
John McHugh, Republican -- New York
Todd Tiahrt, Republican -- Kansas
Mike Rogers, Republican -- Michigan
Rick Renzi, Republican -- Arizona
Darrell Issa, Republican -- California

And to have it set up for this....."and sign a secrecy oath" ......Oh yeah an 'oath" that sure as heck will work.....NOT. Like that means anything to them. These people will be leaking information like crazy and we all know it. Get ready for lots of secrets about our covert activities to get leaked. OMG

God help our troops, God help us all, this will be in the New York Times. NYSlimes Headline, "Hey look what we are doing and who is doing it" And what about the Muslim sympathisers who will see it and pass the sources and methods to our enemies, we do have some in our government.

Air Pelosi ~ I'll C-20 and Raise You!

Pentagon Rejects Speaker Pelosi's Request for Military Aircraft
abc news

This is a long article, 4 pages, so I am just putting some of it here-- Wild Thing.....................

A source close to the controversy over the request made by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., for use of a military plane that can fly to and from her home district in San Francisco, Calif., without having to stop to refuel, tells ABC News that the Pentagon has rebuffed Pelosi's request.
The source says that Pentagon officials and the Bush administration have instead offered Pelosi use of the same plane made available to former Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Illinois: a C-20, which seats about 12 passengers and five crew members.

A C-20 can make the 700-mile flight to Hastert's Aurora, Ill., district easily but would generally have to stop to refuel to complete the 2,800-mile trip from Washington D.C. to the San Francisco Bay Area, depending on the headwinds.

Pelosi has expressed concern about having to stop and refuel, primarily for security reasons, her office says. Since 9/11, the Speaker of the House — second in line behind the Vice President in the line of presidential succession — has been able to use a military plane for travel, for security reasons.

Pentagon spokesman Cmdr. J.D. Gordon outlined the rules and restrictions governing Speaker Pelosi's use of the C-20:

* No more than 10 passengers (C-20's seat only 12 passengers, not including up to 5 crew members);

* No travel to political events;

* Members of the speaker's family cannot fly unless the speaker makes a request in writing. The Pelosi family has to reimburse the U.S. Treasury for the cost of a coach ticket per person for the travel, as well as for any food;

* Members of Congress cannot fly on the plane unless their travel has been cleared with the House Committee on Standards (the Ethics Committee);

* Pelosi's husband can travel for free, but only for official protocol purposes.

In response to the Pentagon offer, Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly tells ABC News, "We appreciate the Defense Department's continuing concern for the Speaker's security. We are reviewing their letter."

Pelosi responded to Republican critics who have accused her of making unreasonable demands on the Pentagon for a luxurious airplane her Republican predecessor never requested.

"I want an aircraft that will reach California," Pelosi told reporters Wednesday afternoon, insisting that she doesn't care what kind of plane it is as long as it can fly nonstop to her home district. "

Because the C-20 generally would need to stop and refuel to make it all the way to the Bay Area, Pelosi requested a plane that could make it to California without having to stop along the way, and asked for clarification from the Pentagon about whether friends and colleagues could accompany her.

Various Republican officials in recent days have claimed that Pelosi has requested a C-32 plane for her travels — a luxurious and specially configured version of the Boeing 757-200 commercial intercontinental airliner.

The plane seats 45 passengers with business-class accommodations and a crew of up to 16, depending on the mission. It features a communications center, a fully enclosed stateroom for the primary passenger, a changing area, a conference facility, an entertainment system, and a convertible divan that seats three and folds out to a bed. The C-32 can cost as much as $22,000 an hour to operate. It's normally used by the first lady, the vice president, Cabinet officials and members of Congress upon request.

Wild Thing's comment........

She wanted 42 business class seats, a bedroom with a bed and an entertainment center. The plane she wanted had a crew of 16. $300,000 roundtrip.

The terrorists would think losing her would be tantamount to loosing Zarquawi or Bin Laden. They'll put out an all point bulletin to stay away from her plane so she propbably doesn't need too much protection. She doesn't fight in the trenches, but behind the scenes, she undermines those trying to do the fighting. Maybe that female astronaught could be her personal driver. Just wear those diapers and drive straight through. heh heh

On a serious note, Ben Stein's article from weeks ago was excellent, he described how the Democrats, unable to impeach Bush, have decided to simply marginalize him by conducting their own National and Foreign Policy agendas. Pelosi and the Dems want their own Air Force One, with their own press corps in tow, hoping all over the globe, meeting with Foreign leaders, making their own deals and treaties, and generally speaking for the nation, as if the President didnt exist. Air Force One is a very powerful symbol of American authority, and the Dems know they wont get their hands on one of the big -47s, so the 757 is their next best hope. The refueling and security issues are just a ruse, something they can use to get a willing media to back them.

Iran successfully Fires Test Land to Sea Missile

Iran successfully test fires land-to-sea missile

TEHRAN (AFP)

The firing came on the second day of war games by the Guards' air force and naval divisions amid mounting tensions with the West over Iran's nuclear programme, state television reported.

"We have successfully test fired a cruise missile called SSN4, or Raad, hitting targets 300 kilometres (180 miles) away in the Sea of Oman and northern Indian Ocean," deputy air force commander, Ali Fadavi was quoted as saying Thursday.

"This missile has the final range of 350 kilometres and can hit all kinds of big warships in all of the Persian Gulf, Sea of Oman and northern Indian Ocean.
"It can carry a 500 kilo (1,100 pounds) warhead and can fly at low altitude, evading radar jammings and immune to electronic measures."

Iranian television showed footage of the missile being fired and hitting its target.

Iran's leaders have repeatedly said the country's armed forces are ready for any eventuality in the current standoff with the West over its nuclear programme.

Although the United States has said it wants the standoff solved through diplomacy, Washington has never ruled out military action to thwart Iran's atomic drive.

Wild Thing's comment.......

They just gave our military the chance to monitor every single frequency, datum and radar pulse the missle uses to track to its target. In other words - they blinked first.

Time To Say Goodbye

Anna Nicole Smith Died Today at 39

She made me laugh and we only knew each other slightly, but she could be funny and caring and real. More then associations but not what I would call a close friend. But I knew her and we ran into each other every so often at the Playboy Mansion, and it always left me with a smile.

We met several months before her Playboy's Playmate of the Year luncheon in 1993 at the Playboy Mansion. And would see each other every so often at other parties that were thrown there. Her life moved on, a lot of things happened in her life to her and because of her. But one thing I do know is the part of life that I knew personally I am fine with and am glad I got to meet and know her in a small way. It was a positive relationship and she will be remembered.

She was many things to many people and her life was lived to survivie. She always wanted to find her father and used to search phone books for him. One day she did find him years later.

Something she said once that describes her very well in a part of her life that was the most important thing......

"The Marlboro man. I just love cowboys. I love all kinds of men. But they've got to love my son, because we come as a package." Anna Nicole Smith.

Goodbye Vickie Lynn thank you for the laughter.

Tensions Rise In U.S. Muslim Communities

DEARBORN, MI, United States (UPI) -- Tensions between Shiite and Sunni Muslims in Iraq are echoing in Dearborn, Mich., and other communities.

'The Shiites were very happy that they killed Saddam (Hussein), but the Sunnis were in tears,' Aqeel Al-Tamimi, a Shiite Iraqi immigrant in Dearborn, told The New York Times. 'These people look at us like we sold our country to America.'

Dearborn`s Shiite mosques have had their windows shattered twice recently, the newspaper reported. Members of the Shiite community blamed the Sunni Muslims.

'A microcosm of what is happening in Iraq happened in New Jersey because people couldn`t put aside their differences,' said Sami Elmansoury, a Sunni Muslim and former vice president of the Islamic Society at Rutgers University, where there have been major tensions between Muslim students.

Experts told the Times that the growing population as well as the Iraq war has contributed to the tension. Decades ago Sunnis and Shiites had to get along because the Muslim population was so small that most communities had one mosque. The Muslim population has grown in many communities, and many Muslim students don`t meet someone from the other branch until they get to college, the newspaper said.

Wild Thing's comment.....

So is this the beginning of a sister city (s) to the ones in Iraq? I wonder!??!! They bring their violence with them obviously. The concern for this going on should start now if not sooner. This may or may not be the beginning of a lot worse, will they start in on non Muslims that support our fastastic troops? Will they attack our soldiers as they return on leave? They better not!!!!!!!

I cannot imagine my grandparents behaving like these people because a war was going on back in Switzerland and their leader put to death. Good grief. Civilized discussion sure, even a heated debate, but rock throwing and other things? I think not. But then my grandparents did not come from the land of cave dwellers that followed a moon god and had children suicide bombers as heroes looking to meet their 72 virgins that they were way too young for in the first place. And others whose goal in life was to behead anyone that was not one of them.

Imprisoned Border Agent Beaten By Fellow Inmates

Monica Ramos embraces her husband, former U.S. Border Patrol agent Ignacio Ramos, two days before he was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

wnd

Less than one week after being transfered to a federal prison, Ignacio "Nacho" Ramos was severely beaten by as many as five illegal immigrants who, during that attack shouted, "Death to the Border Agent!"

Nacho was assaulted Saturday night around 2200 by about five illegal immigrants. He has multiple and severe injuries. They put him in isolation for now, he has not been allowed to see a doctor since Saturday. They were yelling at him in Spanish, “Maten a la migra!” which means “Kill the Border Patrol agent.”

Another family member said Nacho was attacked after he fell asleep Saturday night. Assaulters went after him with repeated blows and kicks. Ramos suffered wounds to his back, shoulder, arms and head. There is concern that Agent Ramos was not given medical treatment after the incident and may not have received medical attention for up to 48 hours.

He said he didn't have a chance to turn around and look at any of the guys attacking him at that time. He just felt a blow to the back of his head. The prisoners were kicking him with steel-toe shoes, the work boots they are issued in prison. They kept kicking and kicking. And they kept calling him in Spanish a **** immigration officer, saying 'darle, darle,' which means, 'give it to him.' They were cussing him out in Spanish. He couldn't fight back, he was outnumbered.

Ramos has a concussion and blood coming out of his ears. The illegals want Ramos & Compean dead!! The word is out.

Wild Thing's comment.......
This is an update from my other post I did about these two men. I am furious about this and everything about it is just WRONG!

I have been watching this story since it happened the other day. I was hoping and praying these two Border Agents would be freed especially after this beating that was done to one of them. No such luck.

Congressman Duncan Hunter (R), has been on this since it happened, and even after he was personally promised that these guys would never be admitted to the general population and then dumped Ramos in a general population that is 27% illegal aliens. The government has lied about this case every step of the way.

Survey Says Women Want Clothes More then........

Good News for Apparel Retailers: Women Would Give Up Sex for Clothes

NEW YORK
Fox News

For most women, the choice between sex and a new wardrobe is simple — they go for the clothes.

Women on average say they would be willing to give up sex for 15 months for a closet full of new apparel, with 2 percent ready to abstain from sex for three years in exchange for new duds, according to a new survey of about 1,000 women in 10 U.S. cities.

Sixty-one percent of women polled said it would be worse to lose their favorite article of clothing than give up sex for a month. Nearly half of the women, or 48 percent, taking part in the survey by consumer products giant Unilever said their favorite article of clothing was more reliable than their man in giving them confidence and making them feel sexy.

The survey, which was not scientific and was conducted online, also suggested that clothes often wear better than relationships.

Wild Thing's comment......

Excuse me but..... are these women NUTS? If they are married I sure feel sorry for their husbands. Sheesh! Who wants to guess along with me that these idiot women probably voted for Clinton, Kerry, and think we should "Pull Out Now" when it comes to our troops in the war against Islam. You know the N.O.W. group of hairy lipped, men haters and Code Pink broads.

* And Rightly So....Raven my dear friend is also posting about this.

Soldier's Mother Told She Cannot Fly American Flag or Blue Star Flag

TERESA RICHARD, whose son, Cpl. Tony Donihee, is serving in Afghanistan, says that when Donihee was leaving her East Windsor home after his last visit, he saluted the flags she had flying. The condo association where Richard lives says she must take down her flags. Her response: No way.

Cpl. Tony Donihee is serving with the Connecticut National Guard in Afghanistan. His mother, Teresa Richard, flies two flags in his honor outside her East Windsor condominum.

Woman Flies Flags In Her Son's Honor, Despite Condo Group's Rule Against Them
February 6, 2007
Courant.com

EAST WINDSOR -- Cpl. Tony Donihee came home from Afghanistan to the sight of the American flag waving outside his mother's condominium.

And he beamed.

His mother, Teresa Richard, said he was so moved by her gesture that he saluted the flag at the end of his several-week visit in August.

Now back in Afghanistan, Donihee, a member of the Connecticut National Guard, calls his mother about once every two weeks to talk, and to ask if the flag is still there. But since his visit, Richard has received several warnings from her condominium association that the flag, hanging from a pole in her front lawn, is in violation of "common area" rules.

The last letter from the Stoughton Ridge Condominium Association arrived in January, notifying her that the American flag, along with her Blue Star flag hung by mothers of soldiers, will be tolerated until Labor Day weekend. Every day after that, she will be subject to a $25 fine.

But Richard is standing firm and vows not to lower her flags after Labor Day, or any other day.

The flags, an acknowledgement of her son fighting for freedom, will remain just outside her kitchen window, where she leans over to watch them flutter every morning while making coffee and every night before heading to bed.

"I haven't heard from Tony for a week, and I don't know when I'll hear from him again. People don't know what that's like," she said, leaning across her kitchen sink to get a better view of her flags. "Right now, that's my son. That's my connection."

Richard has been trying to gain the support of residents, veterans and politicians, with limited success.

The East Windsor Veterans Commission sent a letter Friday to Richard's condo association urging it not to destroy an "honorable and long tradition."
"We feel the American flag should be flown any place, any time, without any restrictions," commission Chairman Warren Wenz said. "This isn't Nazi Germany or Japan during World War II. This is America."

Richard is waiting for other heavy hitters to weigh in, hopefully on her side. Richard has contacted the offices of U.S. Rep. John Larson, D-1st District, U.S. Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., and state Rep. Ted Graziani, D-Ellington. They have yet to respond, she said.

"They said they'd get back to me, but I never heard from them," she said.

Meanwhile, the veterans commission letter has prompted little reaction from the association. Mark Kubera, the complex's property manager, and Kevin Carson, president of the association's board of directors, did not return several telephone calls from The Courant seeking comment.

A letter signed by Kubera in late August notifies Richard that "no flags, including the American flag, may be displayed from poles in planting beds or any common or limited common areas." The rule was adopted into the association's rules and regulations in October 2004, according to the letter.

Two years before the rule was adopted, the association had a similar run-in with some residents who had pitched and hung flags outside their condos. A few received letters from the property manager at the time, requesting the flags be removed.

One resident, Gene Doering, refused and hired an attorney, threatening to sue. He said he hasn't heard from the association since.

An American flag still hangs from a pole on his front lawn.

"I was surprised that [the association] even wanted to tackle the issue," Doering said. "I mean, what is wrong with these people?"

So Richard continues her personal crusade.

Her voice cracks and she takes a minute to wipe away tears as she pulls out a letter she has written to President Bush. She said she's still relying on her elected officials to step up.

Meanwhile, she said, at least she can enjoy a seven-month reprieve.

Richard received a call from her son last week. He asked: "Mom, are my flags still up?"
She replied: "Yes, they are."

Wild Thing's comment.....

You know what, Mrs. Richards request to hear from U.S. Rep. John Larson, U.S. Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., and state Rep. Ted Graziani, D-Ellington is a dead end. Because those three are dead ends!

I am so sick of people that do NOT support our troops and their families ( Blue Star flag hung by mothers of soldier) and don't support our very own country in war time or not .....why should it make any difference. It should be acceptable any time to be able to fly our Flag the American Flag. This kind of shit makes me furious! And to not even be able to fly her BLue Star Flag either after the time limit they gave her. Damn, double damn those not allowing this. I don't care what BS rule they made, this is WRONG on all counts.

Kill Americans ~ Praise 9-11 and Osama Is Their Hero

Pupils aged five 'poisoned' at Islamic school that 'teaches hate'
Daily Mail. co.UK

An Islamic school is poisoning the minds of pupils with lessons in hate, a former teacher claims.

Colin Cook, 57, says textbooks used by children as young as five at the King Fahad Academy in Acton describe Jews as “repugnant” and “apes” and Christians as “pigs”.

Pupils have allegedly been heard saying they want to “kill Americans”, praising 9/11 and idolising Osama bin Laden as their “hero”.

There are fears that it could become a breeding ground for terrorists with Mr Cook warning: “The school could produce a dangerous harvest.” Its sister school of the same name in Bonn has been singled out by the German intelligence services as a meeting place for activists linked to terrorism.

Mr Cook, a Muslim convert, taught English at the school for 19 years until he was sacked in December last year. He claims he was fired after blowing the whistle on the school for covering up cheating by children in GCSE exams and is bringing a tribunal claim for unfair dismissal, race discrimination and victimisation.

He also alleges that when he complained to school management about the content of the curriculum and questioned whether it complied with British laws, he was told: “This is not England. It is Saudi Arabia”.

Mr Cook's lessons formed part of a British curriculum while a second Saudi curriculum was taught in Arabic. Mr Cooks claims that textbooks used on the Saudi curriculum, which are published by the Saudi government's ministry of education, prove that the academy "is institutionally racist".

He said: "The textbooks apparently state that the Jews are cursed. Pupils are asked to ' mention some repugnant characteristics of Jews'."

Wild Thing's comment......

I sure hope someone, our Homeland Security, the FBI someone is checking out the many Saudi schools we have here in our country. My guess is they are teaching the same things here. And why the heck are they here anyway. We have schools, so now we have to have Saudi schools? WTF is that about! I have long been against this thing of Saudi schools on our soil.

Largest Cache Found in Commando Brigade History

More than 1100 mortar rounds were found by Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 89th Calvary Regiment, Wolverines, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division

Iraqi troops, Mountain Soldiers find largest cache in Commando Brigade history, more than 1100 mortar rounds
By 2nd BCT, 10th Mtn. Div.

Troops from 3rd Battalion, 4th Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division and Troop B, 1st Squadron, 89th Cavalry Regiment “Wolverines,” 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), made the discovery during Operation Wolverine Alesia near Yusufiyah, Iraq, just 10 miles southwest of the capital. 1,129

Acting on a tip from a local resident, the troops conducted an intentional search of the area which resulted in the largest cache find in 2nd “Commando” Brigade’s history. In all, 1,129 mortar rounds were uncovered.

The cache, which was buried in the dirt, was larger than expected. As the Soldiers continued to unearth more mortar rounds, it became evident that this was a major find.

“These mortars rounds are in the configuration to use as improvised explosive devises,” said Lt. Col. Mark Suich, the 1-89th’s commander and native of Redding, Pa. “The mortar rounds in this state cannot be used for indirect fire; they are fabricated and stored to be used against the coalition and sectarian enemies as IEDs.”
Suich said the seizure of so many munitions can only hurt terrorist operations.“We put a significant reduction in the enemy’s ability to emplace IEDs in this area today,” Suich said. “We are pretty sure that these are affiliated with al Qaeda in Iraq.”

The area around Yusufiyah has long been identified as an al-Qaeda and former regime safe haven where attacks against Baghdad and coalition and Iraqi security forces originated.

“This is what we refer to as a weapons supermarket-type cache,” said Maj. Mark Aitken, the 1-89th executive officer and a naturalized U.S. citizen from Leicester, England. “The terrorists place a large cache of weapons in one place to draw from. They then pre-position what they draw in many other smaller caches around the countryside.”

During the operation four individuals were detained by the Iraqi Army for suspicious activity in the vicinity of the cache.

At a second cache site located nearby, Troop C, 1-89th found 20 120mm mortar rounds, 26 81mm mortar rounds, four medium machine guns, 8,000 rounds of machine gun ammunition, three rifle scopes, 60 fragmentation hand grenades, 50 pounds of homemade explosives, 27 boxes of 5.56mm rifle ammunition and 10 rocket-propelled grenade projectiles.

Operation Wolverine Alesia is named after a Roman battle led by Julius Caesar against the Gauls in 52 B.C., where the conquering force surrounded the enemy at the fortifications of Alesia in modern-day eastern France and defeated the defenders through siege warfare. The battle of Alesia marked the turning point in the Gallic Wars.
“Today we took over 1,100 IEDs off of the streets of Baghdad,” said Maj. Web Wright, spokesman for the Commando Brigade and a native of Annapolis, Md. “Not only did we take these weapons off of the streets, 3-4-6 IA is fully integrated into this operation. Last night, they found three caches and were actively involved in finding these two.”

The mortar rounds were destroyed during a controlled detonation by the explosive ordnance disposal detachment at approximately 2:35 p.m. The blast could be heard for more than 20 miles.

G.O.P. Blocks War Debate in Senate

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., left, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., hold a press conference after Republican senators blocked Senate debate on the Iraq buildup resolution on Capitol Hill in Washington, Monday, Feb. 5, 2007

A ‘Robust’ G.O.P. Blocks Senate War Debate
Washington
On the Senate floor just a short while ago, a pretty hot debate ensued before any real debate on Iraq resolutions was allowed, or actually not allowed by the vote following the debate about the proposed debate. The Senate went 49-47, the Democrats well shy of the 60 votes needed to moved ahead on one of the war resolutions.

As you may have anticipated through reports during the weekend and today, Republicans in the Senate voted in near unanimity tonight against the Democratic leadership’s intention to bring the Warner-Levin resolution opposing President Bush’s troop buildup to the floor for debate. From watching the roll call on the vote, it would appear that nearly all Republicans, excepting Susan Collins of Maine and Norm Coleman of Minnesota, voted to keep the Warner-Levin measure from being Topic A.

Even senators, like John Warner, Republican of Virginia and premier author of the resolution backed by the Democratic leadership, and Chuck Hagel, Republican of Nebraska and a persistent critic of the administration’s Iraq policies, voted with their party’s senators to block debate on Warner-Levin alone.

As Minority Leader Mitch McConnell explained on and off the floor today, the Republicans want all resolutions debated, including one offered by Senator John McCain in support of the president’s plan (that also includes benchmarks for the Iraqi government to meet), as well as now a separate one offered by Senator Judd Gregg, Republican of New Hampshire.

Reid warned that even if Republicans continued to block debate, “you can run but you can’t hide…. They may stop us temporarily from debating the escalation.” But, he predicted, it will come up again and again in amendments on other legislation going forward.

Wild Thing's comment......

LOL sorry but they used the word "robust' to describe how passionate the Republicans are about this. Er ah some of the Republicans are about this. Gosh I wish the word robust had described our Republican leadership when we were in the majority.

sigh

Half of Insurgents in Iraq Come From Syria

Iraq says half of extremists come from Syria

BAGHDAD
Focus on Iraq

" Half the extremists who commit bomb attacks in Iraq come from Syria", Iraqi government spokesman Ali Al Dabbagh said on Saturday.
“What we see on the streets of Baghdad, 50 percent of it is coming from Syria. I confirm that 50 percent of murders and bombings are by Arab extremists coming from Syria,” Dabbagh said.
“They come from Syria, we have evidence to prove it. We have already proved it to our brothers in Syria.
“We want to tell all Arabs now that those who call themselves mujahedeen come from Syria, and murder our oppressed population this way.”

Dabbagh’s remarks came after a suicide bombing in a central Baghdad market killed 127 people and wounded 305.

The attack was the biggest since November 23 car bombings in the Shiite district of Sadr City left more than 200 people dead.

Dabbagh also pressed Syria to hand over suspects wanted for carrying out attacks in Iraq.

A number of top former regime officials have reportedly found refuge in Syria and many of them are on Iraq’s most wanted list.

The US military has repeatedly accused Damascus of turning a blind eye to foreign fighters slipping across the border to join the insurgency dogging US troops in Iraq.

Make Room for Jihad

UK Gov't Urged to Clamp Down on Muslim Stereotyping in Media, Arts

London (CNSNews.com)

Charging that movies and TV are filled with stereotypical images of Muslims, an Islamic rights group in Britain is calling for more government intervention in the media.

The Islamic Human Rights Commission, the non-profit group, said in a report there was a systematic bias shown against Muslims throughout the arts.

Beginning centuries ago with classic literature such as the Song of Roland and the works of Dante, where the prophet Mohammed was shown to be trapped in hell, the report charged that prejudice has filtered down to today.

This was seen in newspaper and television journalism, but also in popular movies and fiction, the report said.

Muslims were either shown to be terrorists - for example in action thrillers such as Executive Action or The Siege - or as exotic but inferior, as in movies such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, the commission said.
In spy novels, "evil and barbaric Muslims" often wanted to overthrow the United States, while the writing of popular novelist James Clavell depicted Iranians as filthy and irrational, it reported.
The commission said the stereotypes affect how non-Muslim British citizens regard Islam, and at the same time alienate Muslims from the rest of society.
The report was accompanied by results of an opinion poll of British Muslims, in which 62 percent of respondents found the media to be "Islamophobic."

The authors of the report concluded that it was apparent the British media's efforts to self-regulate were not working, and that it was time for the government to step in.

The government should monitor media representation of Muslims, and "watchdogs with teeth" should punish news institutions that allow prejudice, through deliberate action or negligence, the commission said.

It also argued that censors need more power to curtail or decline certification of movies with questionable material.

Arzu Merali, one of the report's authors, told Cybercast News Service the measures were needed to combat the barrage of negative images.

"It's not something we're advocating lightly or even happily but it's a solution that must be considered," she said.

However, the report drew some critical reaction, including a scornful response by a prominent Pakistani columnist, Kamran Shafi.

Writing in the Lahore-based Daily Times, Shafi said the commission seemed to want to depict Muslims everywhere as perfect. It's criticism of the cartoon film "Aladdin" as stereotyping Arabs was "ridiculous," he added.
"Can we lighten up please, folks?" Shafi wrote. "Especially those of us who live in the West by choice?"

In recent years, efforts have been made in the British film and television industry to increase the number of minorities seen on screen.

In 2005, a detailed study by documentary maker Mukti Jain Campion found that the BBC was coming close to its stated goals of having around eight percent of drama roles being filled by minority actors.

While this roughly represents the percentage of black and Asian citizens in Great Britain, Campion also discovered that most minority actors were relegated to background roles or as the single non-white lead in a show, and that those she spoke to had recalled auditions where they were expected to put on strange accents or to behave in what the directors thought was a more "ethnic" manner.

In the United States, actors with a Muslim background have often complained of being offered a limited number of cliched roles on screen such as fanatical terrorists or immigrants with funny accents.

Rabiah Ahmed, a spokeswoman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said Friday Hollywood was losing out by not tapping this growing source of talent.

"I know there have been the incorporation of some positive roles for Muslim actors, but really, they have been few and far between," she said.

Wild Thing's comment......

Don't you just love the part that says.....

"Muslims were either shown to be terrorists - for example in action thrillers such as Executive Action or The Siege - or as exotic but inferior, as in movies such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, the commission said. "

"In spy novels, "evil and barbaric Muslims" often wanted to overthrow the United States, while the writing of popular novelist James Clavell depicted Iranians as filthy and irrational, it reported."

We have seen Muslims portray muslimes as bloodthirsty madmen waving signs that demand the torture deaths of "infidels," whom they define as anyone who doesn't believe their way. Or they might show airliners flying into office buildings, falsely alleging that the planes were hijacked by muslimes. Some even depict decapitations of innocent people by muslimes with dull knives.

Oh, wait. Those are documentaries. Those are the true Muslim we have to deal with.

I mean their cult they belong to, Islam, is about death and destruction. But they want to be protrayed as touchie feelie warm and fuzzy characters in movies and TV shows? Oh My Gawd! Give me a break!

Well here are some names of shows for them....add to it:

Beavis and Nohead

Virgin 54 Where are You?

Communist Rep. Lee Wants US To Pay Iraqi Reparations

The Hill News

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), co-chairwoman of the Progressive Caucus, is vowing to use the appropriations process to force lawmakers to vote on separate parts of a resolution calling for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. soldiers from Iraq.

The resolution would pay Iraqis reparations of up to $10,000 for damages caused by the war if they made claims; ban American firms from pumping oil in Iraq; cut off funds to build long-term bases in Iraq; pay for the destruction of landmines; and create a House-Senate select committee to study the origins of the war in Iraq.

Lee and Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-Calif.), the other co-chair of the House Democratic Progressive Caucus, introduced H.R. 508, and they have signed up 28 co-sponsors. Woolsey says she plans to meet next week with House Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton (D-Mo.) to ensure the resolution is considered in committee.

“I want to see this move very quickly,” Lee said.

Wild Thing's comment.......

Rep. Barbara Lee and Lynn Woosley are both communists and I jsut keep shaking my head at how this great country has let people like this get into our government. Most of you probably know Barbara Lee cast the only No vote against authorizing a military response to 9/11. Barbara also served on national committee of Communist-splinter group Committees of Correspondence. There is a ton of information on Barbara to fill a book of what a good communist is for that lives in our country and her goals for our government. augh!

Democrats Invite Radical Muslim to Speak at Nat’l Committee Meeting

Imam Husham Al-Husainy delivered the following invocation/prayer at the opening of the Democrat National Committee winter meeting in Williamsburg

Democrats Invite Radical Muslim to Speak at Nat’l Committee Meeting

February 04, 2007
By Warner Todd Huston

Last year, al-Husainy was a principle organizer and speaker at a rally in Dearborn of 3,000 Hezbullah supporters who marched carry anti-Jew signs and signs equating Americans and Jews to Nazis. During one of his speeches he called Jews and Americans “diseased".

It must be noted that the US counts Hezbullah as a terrorist organization.

At that same event he hosted a visit of Rabbi Dovid Weiss, the Rabbi that participated in the anti-Jewish Holocaust denial conference sponsored by one of America’s chief enemies, Iran’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

He also was a leader of several 2004 anti-American rallies in support of Iraqi insurgents as well as past rallies in support of Hamas and Yassir Arafat. al-Husainy has also voiced direct and open support of Iraq militant Moqtada al-Sadr, and Iranian anti-American cleric Khomeini.

During this "prayer", al-Husainy said:

"We thank you, god to send us your messages through our father Abraham, and Jesus and Mohammed, through you, god, we unite, so guide us to the right spot we wish for peace, equality and help us to stop the war and violence, and oppression and occupation."

Wild Thing's comment.....

This man supports those that want to harm us... do they have no idea what he stands for !?!
Which Dem was it that actually selected this guy for this 'prayer'... supporting the enemy within??

It is very hard for me to distinguish between liberal democrats and radical muslims with the exception that the demos have yet to try suicide bombings! If these Democrats lived in the late 1930s, they would have booked Adolph Hitler as a guest speaker.

Superbowl XLI Game On Today and It's Showing in Baghdad!

Peyton Manning's Colts and Brian Urlacher's Bears meet in Super Bowl XLI

I will be cheering on the Bears. My two favorite teams are the Bronco's and the Bears. Those of you that will be watching the game I hope your team does well, Colts or Bears and may the best team win.

Now those of you that know me know that not much happens in my life that I am not thinking of our troops and how thngs effect them. Soooo here is what will be happening regarding the Superbowl this year and our awesome troops.

Randy Cross to report live from Iraq with American troops.
Bay area news

Last April, the former 49ers offensive lineman went to Afghanistan for six days to visit U.S. troops after being invited by Ron Barr of the Sports Byline USA radio network.

"I mingled with them, worked out with them, ate with them and talked to them," said Cross, whose dad was a Marine. "Whenever I would meet one of the soldiers, the first words I'd hear were, 'Thank you.' They were just so appreciative that someone had taken the time to visit them. It was an unbelievable experience."

As soon as returned, Cross told his bosses he wanted to go back to Afghanistan or to Iraq to be with the troops on Super Bowl Sunday.

Networks in the past have shown footage of U.S. troops on Super Bowl Sunday, but never sent an announcer to be with them.

Cross, who spent 13 seasons with the 49ers, has lived in the Atlanta area for the past 15 years with his wife, Patrice, and their three children.

Cross won't be making the trip to Iraq alone. Suzanne Smith, a director-producer for CBS Sports, is also going.

"I said, 'You're going to need a producer, aren't you?'" Smith recalled.

The plan for Baghdad will be to arrange a touch football game among the troops on the eve of the Super Bowl, with Cross serving as the referee. The game will be taped and highlights will be shown in a live spot with Cross and military personnel during the pregame show.

Super Bowl kickoff is scheduled for around 3:25 p.m. At that time, it will be 2:25 a.m. in Baghdad.

"I'll guarantee we will have plenty of soldiers there," Cross said. "Military people work on a 24-hour clock. There is always a lot of activity."

And this is a great story to hear about too.
Chicago news

Two former Super Bowl players got a taste of what real war is like. Two of the 1985 Bears stars traveled to the frontlines recently to pay tribute to the true heroes.

"They sacrifice their lives for our way of life," said former Bears quarterback Jim McMahon. "The least I can do is spend a few hours, a few days with some of these guys that are risking their lives for us."

Former teammate Kevin Butler concurred.

"They're true American heroes and there's no greater compliment I can give them," Butler told NBC5.

They are older and grayer now, and meeting soldiers and Marines who hadn't been born when they rocketed to fame 20 years ago. "Any news from home, any connection with the United States and they're happy to have it," McMahon said of his time shared with U.S. troops.

"It lets you know just how lucky we are to have what we have here in America," Butler said.
"We were ... right in the middle of Baghdad. We land, we get up there with armed guards, and the first thing that pops up over all the speakers is The Super Bowl Shuffle," Butler said.
"The Super Bowl Shuffle will haunt us forever," McMahon said with a smile. "A lot of them still knew about it. A lot them still had posters and Bear paraphernalia."
"These guys are coming over and thanking us for coming over and visiting for an hour or so and, you know, we're trying to say, 'Thank you for sacrificing your lives for us and our families back home,'" he added.
"When we're sitting there signing autographs, I really just wanted to, you know, flip it around and sit them down and get their autograph. Actually, having a soldier (who) just came off of a mission look and me and say, 'How did you go out there at the end of the game and kick a field goal? That's got to be nerve-wracking.'" Butler said. "You know, the humble meter goes straight up."

The two Bears shared pictures of their accomodations in Saddam Hussein's place the night he was hanged.

"It was pretty cool to be in Baghdad the day that all this took place," McMahon said.

Both men called the visit a life-changing experience. Both came home convinced that messages of support are more important than ever, Rogers said.

"I hear a lot of stuff in the media about how bad our youth is," the former quarterback said. "But, every time you talk to these people in the Marines ... our country is in good hands with these kids."

Butler said Bears fans can be especially supportive of the troops.

"If you're a Chicago Bears fan and your team is down at the halftime of the championship game, you're going to be cheering them in the third quarter, no matter how they played those first two quarters. And we need to cheer our soldiers over there and just tell them how much we support them and love them," he said. Rogers said that bother Butler and McMahon have been invited to return and both told NBC5 that they intend to go.

Shrillary's Back and Screaming A Usual

I'LL END WAR: ANGRY PLEDGE: MAKE ME PREZ AND IT'S DONE!

New York Post
February 3, 2007
WASHINGTON

Pumping her fists and shouting to the rooftops, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton vowed yesterday to bring an immediate end to the war in Iraq if she's elected president.

"If we in Congress don't end this war before January 2009, as president, I will," Clinton pledged in a speech to the Democratic faithful as she staked out a new position on the conflict.

While she has been escalating her criticism of the war for months, yesterday was the first time Clinton spoke about what she would do about it if she wins the White House in 2008.

The former first lady's pledge to pull the plug on Iraq and bring the troops home came during the Democratic National Committee's annual winter meeting. She and her top-tier White House rivals, Sen. Barack Obama and former Sen. John Edwards, took tough stands against the war.

Clinton, raising her voice at one point to be heard above a few anti-war hecklers, also suggested that calls from Edwards and others to cut off funding for President Bush's troop increase are unlikely to win approval in a narrowly divided Senate.

"Believe me, I understand the frustration and the outrage," said Clinton, who is backing a Senate resolution that expresses disapproval of the troop surge but would not cut off funding.

Wild Thing's comment......

What is her plan? And if she has a plan, why doesn't she share it now? I still remeber how she came to the floor of the Senate in October of 2002 and supported the war; she even said that Hussein was associated with al Qaeda.

She says if she were president in Oct 2002 she wouldn't have started 'this war.' A-hem Hillary we went into Afghanistan in Oct 2001 and into Iraq in March 2003. Better have your team get their act together on the dates before you start yelling and screaming at voters your demands and pleas to become President.

September 15th, 2002, on Meet the Press, Tim Russert says to Hillary, "Do you believe that we could have disarmament without regime change?"

HILLARY: I doubt it. I can support the president. I can support an action against Saddam Hussein because I think it's in the long-term interests of our national security.

Neville Chamberlain said he would end war with Germany. You can always end war by unconditionally surrendering. When are liberals ever going to understand that appeasement and surrender do not equal peace?

Russ Vaughn on Arkin

WaPo Weasels II
Contributed by Russ Vaughn

Want to slam our soldiers, Arkin?
Well here is one to slam.
I got used to Lefty slamming
When I came back from Vietnam.
So you want to put a muzzle
On our brave fighting men?
Well try muzzling me you jerk,
Just tell me where and when.

Your profession needs a lesson
In basic free speech rights,
For those you worms all hide behind,
For those who fight your fights.
Like all your soft and smarmy kind,
You really have no clue,
Who American warriors truly are,
What our warriors truly do.

How many times in your four years
As a chair-borne analyst,
Were you within an ocean’s width
Of combat’s hard mailed fist?
How many medals did you earn
In those warrens at Fort Meade?
In four years of four-eyed service,
Just what was your bravest deed?

FOX news has combat warriors
To help us understand the score,
While MSM uses clerks like you,
Who have never been to war.
Your resentment of your betters,
Seeps through your bitter writing,
And shows you have no clue or care
Of those who do the fighting.

Like your ivy-cloistered Comrades, your war’s between the classes,
Dialectics, speeches, theory, your heads firmly up your asses.

Bush and Stretch Face Pelosi Plan Joint News Conference Saturday (today)

The evil spirit thrives in Evita Pelosi.

Bush, Pelosi plan joint news conference Saturday
Yahoo

Bush is scheduled to hold a news conference on Saturday with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi after he addresses a meeting of House Democrats, congressional aides said on Friday.

Bush will speak to House of Representatives Democrats holding an annual weekend retreat at about 10 a.m. (1500 GMT). Afterward, at about 11:40 a.m. (1640 GMT), Bush, along with Pelosi and other House Democratic leaders, will answer reporters' questions.

Bush, will be appearing at the Williamsburg retreat one month after Democrats took control of the House and Senate. With less than two years remaining in Bush's presidency, his policies, including his handling of the Iraq war, are being challenged by Democrats.

Wild Thing's comment......

Maybe they plan to announce they are giving the United States to Mexico. Why don't I have confidence in this! How telling is that fact that I don't. Who the heck is giving Bush advice anyway. Carville?? augh!

72 Virgins Waiting for Arkin

The Troops Also Need to Support the American People

"So, we pay the soldiers a decent wage, take care of their families, provide them with housing and medical care and vast social support systems and ship obscene amenities into the war zone for them, we support them in every possible way, and their attitude is that we should in addition roll over and play dead, defer to the military and the generals and let them fight their war, and give up our rights and responsibilities to speak up because they are above society? "

Wild Thing's comment.......

Sick, vile Arkin needs a thrashing big time. Pick your weapon and any will do. I was raised that words mean something. And in that respect when it comes to this POS Arkin his words have now placed the mark of the beast of military loathers on his forehead.

Arkin has chosen who he serves in this world and it is not a choice nor is he a person I want anything to do with.

Pelosi Wants Military Flights for Herself, Her Family and Delegation

Speaker pursues military flights

The Washington Timnes

The office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is pressing the Bush administration for routine access to military aircraft for domestic flights, such as trips back to her San Francisco district, according to sources familiar with the discussions.

The sources, who include those in Congress and in the administration, said the Democrat is seeking regular military flights not only for herself and her staff, but also for relatives and for other members of the California delegation. A knowledgeable source called the request "carte blanche for an aircraft any time."

"They are pressing the point of her succession and that the [Department of Defense] needs to play ball with the speaker's needs," one source said. The request originally went to the Pentagon, which then asked the White House to weigh in.

Mrs. Pelosi's request is not new for a speaker, who is second-in-line in presidential succession. A defense source said the speaker's regular access to a military plane began after the September 11, 2001, attacks. Rep. J. Dennis Hastert, Illinois Republican, who was speaker at the time, started using U.S. Air Force planes for domestic travel to and from his district for security reasons. A former Hastert aide said the congressman did not use military planes for political trips or regularly transport his family.

Sources said Mrs. Pelosi's request goes beyond what Mr. Hastert received. The speaker's legal counsel is spearheading the talks.

Congressional access to military passenger jets is generally restricted to official trips abroad, or for domestic flights to military bases or events to which the Pentagon invited the lawmaker. Al Qaeda attacks on the U.S. changed the procedure in the case of the speaker.

U.S. Air Force travel for VIPs such as members of Congress is first-rate. The planes are staffed with stewards who serve meals and tend an open bar. Communications suites allow members to conduct business while traveling.

Such flights are one of Congress' cherished perquisites, providing lawmakers a chance to visit foreign lands at government expense. Official duties are often mixed with sightseeing and fine dining.

Wild Thing's comment.......

It seems she is telling the Pentagon she has to have the plane because of her place in the LINE OF SUCCESSION.

Sad that our fine Air Force personnel must serve those who seek to undermine them at every turn. These planes are expensive and cost the taxpayers a small fortune. Even if Pelosi could make the case for her, how can she justify relatives and California congressmen?

Pelosi wants to use the aircraft for herself, staff, family and other members of the California delegation for the commute between Washington and San Francisco. Power hungry Pelosi wants her California Delegation to ride free on Military planes!!

California has 53 delegates...is that what Pelosi hope for..free rides for them too? What about their families also?

What about Pelosi using Ron Brown's old plane?
Oh

nevermind.

It's just a compilation of scenes and impressions of a tour in Iraq. No dogs were seriously injured in the dogfight shown at night.

Thank you to the soldier for allowing me to show this video to you my wonderful family here at TW. God bless our troops and keep them safe. They truly are the best of the best and I am so very proud of them.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Threaten Kidnapping Americans

Iran militia threatens to kidnap Americans
Ynet news

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards threatened to kidnap American soldiers and hinted at intentions to kidnap American citizens in Europe and South America as well.

The threat was apparently in response to President George W. Bush’s instruction to American soldiers in Iraq last week to target Iranian agents.

“The kidnapping of American citizens in the Middle East, Europe and South America is not difficult and can happen at any moment,” siad an article printed in the weekly Subah Sadak, which is considered the mouthpiece of the Revolutionary Guards in Iran.

The article, entitled “Easier and cheaper than Chinese merchandise”, was printed in response to the United Nations Security Council’s Resolution 1737, setting sanctions on Iran due to its refusal to suspend its nuclear program.

The threat may also be linked to the operation in which American forces kidnapped five Iranians from the Consulate General in Erbil in northern Iraq.

“The US prepared a most-wanted list, which includes senior Iranian officials whom they intend to kidnap to learn details about national, nuclear and military operations,” the article claimed.

'Current Iranian regime has offensive strategy'

The article further claimed that America had the names of 35 Iranian diplomats working at various embassies, who the White house suspects hold senior intelligence and security positions and have information on Iran’s nuclear and military capabilities.

Ali Saidi, a spokesperson for the Revolutionary Guards, noted, “Our enemies have many weak points, and we can cause them problems.”
In an interview with an Iranian news agency, Saidi said that contrary to the policy of previous governments, who employed passive and defense foreign policy, “The current Iranian regime has an offensive strategy.”

Meanwhile, the Iranian Embassy in Moscow denied the recent report in the Daily Telegraph that Iran was secretly cooperating with North Korea in nuclear weapons testing.

The embassy issued a notice saying that “Iran denies the rumors of cooperation with North Korea regarding nuclear experimentation.” North Korea denied the report as well.

Wild Thing's comment.......

The Revolutionary Guards (Pasdaran) are no militia, but Iran's elite nutjobs. They are the SS of Iran. Their armed wing is better equipped and trained than the normal Army. These wack jobs should be on the receiving end of the latest upgrade in US weaponry.

They make these threats and there is never any consequence for them when they do that.

Advertising Stupidity Halts Boston

So it began..........

'Hoax Devices' Found At Several Boston Locations (Several 'Suspicous Packages' Found)

BOSTON -- Four "hoax devices" were found at several Boston locations Wednesday, hours after officials detonated a suspicious package on an elevated structure above the Sullivan Square Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority station.

The additional packages were found at the Boston University Bridge, the Longfellow Bridge and near the intersection of Stuart and Columbus streets. A device described by officials as a pipe bomb was found in the basement of the Tufts New England Medical Center at 185 Harrison Ave.

A spokesman for the Boston Police Department said that all of the packages appeared to be similar.

"Our device was not an active device. We are still treating the area as a crime scene. There were no injuries. Everyone was evacuated properly, and everyone now back to their locations," Tufts New England Medical Center's Brooke Hynes said.

Mayor Tom Menino said that all of the packages found posed no danger, but the incidents remained under investigation. Storrow Drive eastbound was shut down for a brief time, and the MBTA suspended service on the Red Line and planned to bus afternoon commuters between Kendall and Park Street stations.

Earlier Wednesday, the state police bomb squad was called and detonated the package in Sullivan Square just before 10 a.m. Officials said it contained an electronic circuit board with some components that were "consistent with an improvised explosive device," but they said it had no explosives. They determined that the device was not dangerous, but destroyed it as a precaution.

"We determined that this device, in particular, was not explosive," said MBTA Lt. Sal Venturelli.

He said MBTA police were told about the package by a transit passenger who spotted it on a column that supports Interstate 93. The parcel was located on an elevated structure above the bus way and below I-93 in the Charlestown section of Boston at about 8 a.m.

"This is a perfect example of our passengers taking part in Homeland Security," Venturelli said.
"An investigation will be conducted into how the package got there and when", he said.

Train service on the Orange Line between Sullivan Square and Wellington stations was suspended in both directions. No injuries were reported.

The northbound side of I-93 was closed, causing significant traffic backups. Motorists were not allowed to access the highway near Sullivan Square coming up from the south.

Those responsible.........

TV Network Takes Responsibility For 'Hoax Devices'

BOSTON -- Turner Broadcasting plans to take responsibility for the "hoax devices" that were found at several locations in and around Boston Wednesday that forced police bomb units to scramble throughout the area.

The incidents were part of a marketing campaign that involved a character from the cartoon show "Aqua Teen Hunger Force."
"The 'packages' in question are magnetic lights that pose no danger. They are part of an outdoor marketing campaign in 10 cities in support of Adult Swim's animated television show 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force,'" Turner Broadcasting, the parent company of Cartoon Network, said in a statement

The company said that they have been in place for two to three weeks in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, Austin, San Francisco and Philadelphia.

Turner Broadcasting is in contact with local and federal law enforcement on the exact location of the billboards, according to the statement, and regrets that they were mistakenly thought to pose any danger.

The cartoon airs as part of the Adult Swim late-night block of programs on the Cartoon Network. It features characters called "mooninites," who were pictured on the found devices. A feature length film based on the cartoon is scheduled to be released late next month.

Gov. Deval Patrick praised the response of law enforcement and said that he was "dismayed to learn that many of the devices are a part of a marketing campaign by Turner Broadcasting."

"This stunt has caused considerable disruption and anxiety in our community. I understand that Turner Broadcasting has purported to apologize for this. I intend nonetheless to consult with the attorney general and other advisors about what recourse we may have," Patrick said.
"Emergency deployment teams were sent into the center of the city immediately upon these reports. There were significant shutdowns of not only highways, but rail traffic with the MBTA," Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis said. "Several of the devices do have common characteristics, but it is too early to say how many are connected."

Wild Thing's comment........
One day this could be for real instead of what it turned out to be. They said these devives were in place for 2-3 weeks. There are many what if's here we should think about. For one what if terroroists could palce devices this easily as well. How stupid, how totally stupid this hoax was.

But wait, the Democrats and Nancy the Messiah are in charge. All we have to do to fight terrorism is hold hands singing Kum Ba Yah, Celebrate Diversity and leave everything to the UN. sheesh!

Thanks for the video Billy...Billy O'Blog
