Liz Cheney: “Those Who Advocate More Liberal Policies For The GOP Are Wrongheaded Or Democrats, Or Both”

Liz Cheney: Republicans, Get Over the 2012 Loss—and Start Fighting Back

“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. The only way they can inherit the freedom we have known is if we fight for it, protect it, defend it and then hand it to them with the well-taught lessons of how they in their lifetime must do the same. And if you and I don’t do this, then you and I may well spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it once was like in America when men were free.”—Ronald Reagan, March 30, 1961

President Reagan’s words, spoken 52 years ago this weekend, still ring true, with one modification. If we don’t defend our freedoms now against the onslaught of President Obama’s policies, we won’t have to wait until our sunset years for American freedom to be a distant memory.

These days Washington careens from crisis to crisis, most of them manufactured. The Obama White House and its allies are engaged in the kind of sky-is-falling melodrama normally reserved for the lives of teenage girls. (As the mother of teenage girls, I speak with authority on this, though the comparison does a disservice to teenagers.) With our attention diverted by each fiscal cliff or sequestration drama, we are at risk of missing the real threats to the republic.

President Obama is the most radical man ever to occupy the Oval Office. The national debt, which he is intent on increasing, has passed $16 trillion. He believes that more government borrowing and spending are the solution to every problem. He seems unaware that the free-enterprise system has lifted more people out of poverty than any other economic system devised by man.

Perhaps his ignorance of that fact explains his hostility toward the private sector. In one of his autobiographies, the president writes that he felt “like a spy behind enemy lines” during his brief stint working for private industry.

The president has launched a war on Americans’ Second Amendment rights. He has launched a war on religious freedom. He has launched a war on fossil fuels. He is working to nationalize one-sixth of the economy with job-killing ObamaCare. He wants to collect a greater portion of every American paycheck, not for the purpose of paying down the national debt but to expand his governing machine. He doesn’t believe in creating a bigger pie with more opportunity for all. He believes in greater redistribution of a much smaller pie. If you’re unsure of what this America would look like, Google “Cyprus” or “Greece.” [...]

In the face of this reality, it is time for Republicans to get over their loss in 2012. We are all that stands between this president’s policies and a damaged and diminished America. It is time to get back in the fight.

And I do mean fight. Republicans are being counseled to move the party to the left, but in my experience, those who advocate more liberal policies for the GOP are wrongheaded or Democrats, or both. You can be sure that President Obama would welcome an America in which the Republican Party is preoccupied with remaking itself into a watered-down version of the Democrats.

It is time to defend our values with vigor and courage. We are conservatives. We believe in limited government, low taxes, a strong national defense, individual freedoms, self-reliance, the importance of the family, and the miracle and authority of America’s founding documents. We know that government is best that governs least and governs closest to the people. We know that the private sector is the engine of economic growth. We know that America is the exceptional nation, the best that has ever existed. We know that the men and women who wear the uniform of the U.S. military are the greatest fighting force and the greatest force for good that the world has ever known.

We know that preventing this president from enacting devastating policies is not obstructionism. It is patriotism.

The miracle of the Constitution resides to a large extent in the first three words, "We the People," placing sovereignty with us, not with our rulers. We are the inheritors of these blessings of liberty, and it is our solemn duty to fight for, protect and defend our freedom. Now is the time to pick ourselves up, brush ourselves off, and man the barricades for freedom.

Government Waste Could Pay For 45,000 Years Of WH Tours

Government Waste Could Pay For 45,000 Years Of WH Tours

A study from the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) shows the federal government’s needless spending and costly regulations waste over $42 billion dollars–enough to fund up to 45,000 years of White House tours.

After the White House announced that its public tours would be one of the first government functions to be shut down due to the budget sequester’s slowdown of spending increases, conservatives have highlighted government spending on inconsequential projects ranging anywhere from puppet research to snail sex.

The NRCC has compiled a “waste list” totaling $42,642,721,597 from its findings. Some of its expenditures include:

Dancing iPhone robots–$547,430: “Part of a $547,430 grant from the National Science Foundation went to the development of a dancing robot that connects to an iPhone.”
Talking urinal cakes–$10,000: “Federal funds were used to purchase 400 anti-drunk driving talking urinal cakes.”
YouTube video contest–$106,000: “$106,000 was spent on a YouTube video contest to promote eating fruits and vegetables.”
Cupcakes–$2,000,000: “10 cupcake stores received $2 million in taxpayer-funded loans.”
“Healthy food” initiative - $32,000,000: “$32 million was spent to increase access to healthy foods in low-income communities with no measurable result.”
Robot squirrels–$325,000: “Researchers received part of a grant to construct robotic squirrels to test if they are attacked by rattlesnakes the same way real squirrels are.”

Conservative estimates say the shutdown of tours saves Washington $18,000 a week, or $936,000 per year–.002% of the $42 billion in waste. If President Barack and Obama and Congress eliminated the waste shown in the study, the savings would fund White House tours for over 45,558 years.

This thing about no WH tours is one of the stupidest things. It is not Obama's house it is we the people's house.

State of New York ranks dead last in personal freedom

New York is the Nanny State with the least freedoms: national study

State ranks dead last in personal freedom

NY Post

New York’s big government — with its hands deep in taxpayers’ pockets and regulations controlling everyone’s lives — has made the Empire State the worst in the nation for personal liberty, a new study shows.

A war on sugary drinks is the least of freedom-loving New Yorkers’ worries, according a report by George Mason University, which rated the state No. 50 for the level of freedom its residents enjoy.

The university found New York’s government slams citizens from every angle — from huge taxes to tight controls on business to myriad rules on all kinds of fun.

“New York has, by a wide margin, the highest taxes in the country,” the report found.

The study cited New York state’s 14 percent income tax, well above the national average.

New York is also the most indebted state, with 33 percent of income dedicated to borrowing in fiscal year 2010, the report said.

The Empire State ranked poorly for its heavy-handed economic regulations. For example, the report flunked New York’s rent-control laws, claiming it dampened economic development.

Labor rules that include forcing government workers to pay union dues were also cited as a drag on the state.

The study also found that New York has extensive health-insurance rules that inflate costs.

New York’s gun-control laws were deemed “extremely restrictive” — even before Gov. Cuomo and the Legislature passed tougher controls this year.

The limits on freedom are driving people away, the report’s creators said.

“New York is by far the least free state in the nation. It is therefore no surprise that New York residents have been heading for the exits: 9 percent of the state’s 2000 population, on net, left the state for another state between 2000 and 2011 — the highest such figure in the nation,” the study by George Mason’s libertarian-leaning Mercatus Center found.

Dictator Obama Using Executive Power To Bypass Congress On Gun Control

Obama Quietly Using Executive Power To Bypass Congress On Gun Control

The Hill

Obama is quietly moving forward on gun control.

The president has used his executive powers to bolster the national background check system, jumpstart government research on the causes of gun violence and create a million-dollar ad campaign aimed at safe gun ownership.

The executive steps will give federal law enforcement officials access to more data about guns and their owners, help keep guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill, and lay the groundwork for future legislative efforts.

It is unclear whether the National Rifle Association (NRA) will challenge any of the executive actions in court. A spokesman for the NRA did not return a request for comment.

The moves, which have not been widely touted by the administration, come as Obama ups his pressure on Congress to take action on gun control in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings. The Senate is expected to begin floor consideration of legislation when it returns in April.

Efforts to renew a ban in semi-automatic weapons with military-style features and high-capacity magazines have stalled in Congress. Democratic senators still hope to move gun control legislation that includes tougher background checks, but conservative Republican senators have threatened to filibuster it.

If approved by the Senate, any bill would then face tough sledding in the GOP-controlled House.

Gun control groups say Obama’s piecemeal approach falls short of what could be accomplished by legislation overhauling the nation’s gun laws. Still, they argue the actions remain important and will reduce gun violence.

“They’ve taken direct aim at some of the bigger problems in the regulatory part of the issue and they’re doing it in the right way and that’s going to be very helpful,” said Mark Glaze, the director of Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns group.

“Ultimately you need to close the loopholes in the law that will continue to undermine enforcement, but what they’re doing is precisely right.”

They also illustrate the administration’s power to change gun laws despite inaction on Capitol Hill, a practice the president may need to duplicate in other policy areas amid congressional gridlock.

Obama’s steps began the same day he unveiled his 23 gun control proposals in January, when he issued a memorandum requiring all nine federal law enforcement agencies to submit guns they confiscate to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for tracing.

According to a notice sent by Attorney General Eric Holder last month, the agencies will have to submit a report to the Justice Department (DOJ) within the next month showing they are compliant.

The move, and several more like it, is aimed at strengthening the quality and quantity of records contained within the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), according to a DOJ spokeswoman.

For years, federal law enforcement officials and gun control advocates have complained that the NICS gun records are not complete, making it easier for people with criminal records and mental illnesses to buy guns.

A key factor in strengthening the NICS database, they say, is getting states to report more information on mental health and criminal history records.

Earlier this month, the DOJ announced a $20 million grant program aimed at incentivizing states to submit more mental health and criminal history information into the NICS database.

Also this month, the White House Office of Management and Budget said it would consider changing rules to make it easier for states to share mental health records with the NICS.

Through these moves, Glaze said the administration has addressed two of the main reasons for incomplete trace data: a lack of money and privacy concerns.

“By taking direct aim at the two biggest problems inhibiting the database, they are taking a significant chunk out of 50 percent of the system’s weaknesses,” said Glaze.

In January, Obama directed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to begin studying the causes of gun violence for the first time since Congress, at the behest of the NRA, began blocking funding for such research in 1996.

The CDC has since awarded a contract to the Institute of Medicine (IOM), which this spring will soon begin looking at the role video games and social media play in gun violence, as well as whether gun technologies and access to guns can be used to reduce violence.

The aim is to affect future legislation by giving lawmakers empirical data on an area that has been largely bereft for nearly two decades. Without government research, gun control advocates say they are forced to rely on private studies, which do not hold the same clout on Capitol Hill.

“You can’t make good policy without good data, and for a generation the NRA has been throwing dirt in the eyes of Congress so they can’t actually see what’s going on around them," said Glaze.

As part of the agency’s preliminary research, the CDC and IOM will host an all-day conference on April 23 in Washington, D.C., to hear from firearm and gun violence experts; researchers; and advocates on both sides of the issue, according to Richard Feldman, a former NRA lobbyist who now leads the Independent Firearm Owners Association.

Feldman said he questions whether the CDC can lawfully spend money on studies that Congress has barred, but he plans to attend and noted that the NRA’s former research director, Paul Blackman, has been invited to the event as well.

In another administrative move, Obama directed the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to examine the efficacy of existing gun trigger locks and firearm safe standards to determine if they need to be improved. The CPSC has partnered with the American Society for Testing and Materials International, but does not have a firm timeline for when its examination will be finished, according to a spokesman.

Separately, the administration has given $1 million to the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) to create, produce and distribute a nationwide multimedia ad campaign on safe gun ownership and storage. The campaign is heading into the research phase and is expected to air by the early fall, according to a NCPC spokeswoman.

And regional offices with the General Services Administration have begun to reach out to local schools, advising them about the agency’s “Cooperative Purchasing” program, which gives discounted rates to schools on security equipment including: surveillance cameras, emergency communication systems, security design and support, and employee background check systems.

WH Asks Media Scrub Coverage Of Daughters’ Vacation.....Sasha and Malia Get 2 Vacations From Tax Payers!!!!!

Breitbart

Sasha and Malia get two vacations, skiing in Idaho and visiting the Bahamas. Meanwhile citizens children are not allowed to visit the WH and go on the tour of OUR White House.

A local news affiliate in Idaho reported that the First Daughters, Sasha and Malia Obama, are on a Spring Break ski trip in Sun Valley, Idaho. The story quickly spread across the Internet when picked up by the highly trafficked Drudge Report website.

But hours later, the story disappeared from the KMVT website without an update or correction. Breitbart News confirmed that the White House requested that the post be removed.

In March of last year, the White House requested media outlets to remove accurate reports that Malia Obama was on a trip in Mexico with over two dozen Secret Service agents.

The First Family has been criticized in recent days for taking frequent vacations. Earlier this week, Breitbart News broke the story that the Obama daughters spent part of Spring Break at the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Michelle Obama and the First Daughters took a separate ski trip last month to Aspen, Colorado.

While each of these trips require a significant Secret Service presence, the White House canceled public tours this month citing Secret Service staffing costs.

UPDATE: The White House has confirmed the report was removed on their request. From Kristina Schake, Communications Director to the First Lady:
From the beginning of the administration, the White House has asked news outlets not to report on or photograph the Obama children when they are not with their parents and there is no vital news interest. We have reminded outlets of this request in order to protect the privacy and security of these girls.

Wild Thing's comment................

This blog, Theodore's World, does not have a do not speak of Obama's daughters policy. Maybe his first term they got a slight break but no longer. I have had it with the entire family, so kiss my ass Obama I will say what I want and you are spoiling your daughters. The kind of spring break you are forcing we tax payers to pay for just so your daughters can take two vacations is disgusting. They are not college kids that go on spring break but children and it is being done with our MONEY NOT yours you freak.

Obama's Daughters EPIC Tour Their So Called "Spring Break" With Our Tax Dollars

Local Fox affiliate KMTV is reporting that the First Daughters, Sasha and Malia Obama, are vacationing on the ski slopes of Sun Valley, Idaho.

Breitbart

Earlier this week, Breitbart News broke the news that the First Daughters were on a spring break trip in the Bahamas, with Secret Service protection in tow, despite staff shortages that the White House cited in closing tours to the public.

The cross-continental trip for the First Daughters represents an epic tour. The KMTV news report cited photo evidence that the First Daughters were on the ski slopes, but noted that it was "unclear" whether First Lady Michelle Obama had accompanied them.

Separately, Breitbart News received a tip Friday morning from a parent whose daughter encountered the First Daughters in Sun Valley: "My daughter found herself in the middle of the entourage as she exited a local shop."

Meanwhile, the White House remains closed to thousands of students traveling to Washington, D.C. over Spring Break.

President Obama canceled the public, self-guided tours in a bid to trim $2 million from the Secret Service budget. The full cost of the First Daughters' 2013 spring break travel and necessary security detail are unknown at this time. Presumably, the Secret Service costs could have covered at least a few weeks of public White House tours.

Most people, if they have a spring break vacation, have to choose between the beach or the slopes. The Obamas, however, are not most people.

It is, apparently, good to be King.

New York congressman introduces bill to abolish presidential term limits

New York Democratic Rep. Jose Serrano reintroduced a bill in Congress on Friday to repeal the 22nd Amendment, which places term limits on the U.S. presidency.

The bill, which has been referred to committee, would allow Barack President Obama to become the first president since Franklin Roosevelt to seek a third term in office.

H.J. Res. 15 proposes “an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.”

Outrage After Des Moines Register Publishes Interactive Map Identifying Schools With No Security

FOX News

Iowa parents are outraged after the Des Moines Register published an interactive map detailing the security levels of all of the school districts within the state. The map identified which districts have security and which don’t.

After receiving complaints, the Des Moines Register took down the map and issued a statement that reads in part:

“We listed no addresses or the names of specific schools – just the districts’ names.”

The interactive feature of the map did reveal the district and the number of students.

Rick Green, the editor of the paper, has said, “I love the role that we play here in Iowa, and I care too much about the safety of school teachers and students to do anything so that people would think we were being reckless and heartless.”

Atheists Want Vietnam Memorial Cross Removed

Atheists Want Vietnam Memorial Cross Removed

FOX News

A national atheist organization is demanding that an Oregon city remove its Vietnam War memorial because it includes a cross.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation accused city leaders in Coos Bay of violating the so-called separation of church and state after erecting the war memorial 41 years ago. The FFRF is a group of freethinkers, atheists and agnostics.

“We have no objection to the veterans’ memorials,” FFRF attorney Rebecca Markert wrote to City Manager Rodger Craddock. “Our objection is to the message of endorsement of Christianity over other religions and non-religions.”

The FFRF said the city had violated the law by allowing the cross to be displayed on public property.

“The Christian-only memorial sends a message that the government only cares about the deaths of Christian soldiers, not Jewish, other non-Christian, and non-religious soldiers,” Markert wrote.

The war memorial was erected in Mingus Park in 1972 – a joint effort by the Western Bank and the Bay Area Jaycees.

Craddock told Fox News that over the years there have been a few complaints about the memorial.

“Records don’t reflect how many complaints or who they were – but they were referred to the Jaycees,” he said. “That’s the group that’s installed it.”

Craddock said city leaders will meet next week to discuss their options.

“It’s hard to say what’s going to happen,” he said. “We may be entertaining one of the offers we received from law firms to look into the matter.”

Word spread across the city that outsiders want the memorial removed – and that has many residents up in arms.

“With all the issues facing our city, we probably have more important things to do,” Craddock said.

Hiram Sasser, director of litigation with the Liberty Institute, told Fox News that activist groups like FFRF are waging a culture war.

“This is an outrageous assault on the veterans who served in Vietnam,” he said. “Why must these activist groups’ culture war spill over onto the veterans and their memorials? All they ever did was serve our country and provide the very freedom these activist groups claim as their own.”

Craddock said the FFRF is specifically upset about the Latin cross on the memorial.

“Many believe that cross is specific to the Christian religion and that’s why they believe it’s a violation of the separation of church and state,” he said.

Krauthammer: With This Administration, I Don't Buy Anything They Are Telling Me

Krauthammer: With This Administration, I Don't Buy Anything They Are Telling Me

A $250M cut in border patrol because of sequestration? Charles hits the administration calling this another political stunt (like suspending White House tours). Fred Barnes calls it a "stunt" here also.

KRAUTHAMMER: No, but I'm skeptical about the motive. As if there isn't anywhere else on the budget of this huge department that is constructing headquarters for years and years now, where I'm sure a lot of money ends up in the concrete. You know, this is a stunt that is not going to work. It's obvious that the administration is in every department trying to find the one neuralgic area that will affect the public [in] the worst way and the symbol of that is the White House tours. But that just isn't working, because that became so obvious that everybody understands.

Can you imagine how much waste is in that huge department that is remaining untouched? And don't tell me that the money is unshiftable. The Republicans have offered to give the administration the power to move the money around. Obama has said he not only won't do it but he would veto a bill that allowed him to shift the money around. This is clearly a stunt to get people to hurt at the receiving end of services, like the border patrol, like White House tours and to blame it on Republicans. It's not going to work.

KRAUTHAMMER: Even if all of that is true, I think hanging up a sign all across the border saying that 'During happy hour on Wednesdays and Thursdays there will be nobody at the border,' might actually contribute a somewhat of an up-tick in infiltration.

CHUCK LANE: People who organize these trips across the border already know when it's defended or not.

KRAUTHAMMER: But now we're doubling, we're increasing that time, and that is going to make a difference. Look, the problem is it's not as if it's going to reduce the numbers, the issue is why was this required in the first place? It's purely a matter of partisanship. You call me skeptical, that's inadequate. I'm cynical. I'm so cynical that I make Diogenes look credulous. With this administration, I don't buy anything they're telling me. When they reopen the White House so little Iowa tots can go on their visit, I'll begin believing in them again.

Disgusting and Shameless Obama to USE Mothers Of Gun Violence As Political Props To Push His Anti-Gun Agenda At Event To Mark 100th Day Since Newtown

Obama to push gun control at event 100 days after Newtown

The Hill

Obama will hold an event Wednesday with law enforcement officials and mothers of gun violence victims, marking the 100th day since the Newtown, Conn., mass shooting.

The president is looking to build momentum for a package of new gun control measures to be considered by the Senate early next month.

The legislation would expand background checks on firearm purchases, create new penalties on straw purchases and include new funding for school security. But the bill will not include other aspects of the plan introduced by the president in the aftermath of the shooting, which left 20 children and six educators dead, including the renewal of an assault weapons ban or limits on magazine capacity.

Wild Thing's comment................

He will use anything and anyone to push his agenda, he has no heart no soul and could care less about the victims or the parents. He also has shown he could care less about the dead Americans that have been killed because of him as in Fast and Furious and Benghazi.

Thank you Rush!!!! Limbaugh hits O’Reilly for calling same-sex marriage opponents ‘Bible-thumpers’

Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh went after Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly on Wednesday for saying opponents of same-sex marriage don’t have a “compelling” argument other than “thumping the Bible.”
Conservative talker Rush Limbaugh reacted to O’Reilly remarks Wednesday by accusing him of marginalizing so-called “Bible-thumpers,” which Limbaugh said made up a portion of the Fox News Channel audience.

“How many of you who watch Fox are ‘Bible-thumpers?’” Limbaugh asked. “Do you think there are any ‘Bible-thumpers,’ quote, unquote that watch Fox? Because last night, you were — you were sort of marginalized on ‘The Factor’ as not having a compelling argument and just being a bunch of Bible-thumpers.”

LMAO.....Janet Napolitano Doesn’t Rule Out 2016 Run For President

Napolitano doesn't rule out 2016 run for president

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, buzzed about as a potential 2016 presidential candidate if Hillary Clinton doesn’t run, did not rule out an eventual bid when asked about it Tuesday.

The former long-serving Arizona governor instead brushed off the question, joking that she’s too busy keeping U.S. borders safe to consider a race.

At a breakfast interview hosted by the Christian Science Monitor, she said, “my plate is so full now that that kind of contemplation would be the kind of thing that would keep me up at night, and I lose enough sleep as it is.”

Some Democrats are excited about her potential candidacy because of her ability to win often in Republican Arizona and because she has been progressive in pushing for immigration reform. She also presents a non-nonsense, law and order demeanor attractive to independents.

As governor, Time Magazine in 2005 called her one of the best in the nation. "Positioning herself as a no-nonsense, pro-business centrist, she has worked outside party lines since coming to office in January 2003 to re-energize a state that, under her predecessors, was marked by recession and scandal."

She has also been talked about as a potential U.S. Supreme Court justice.

ICE Union Head: Obama Ignoring ICE Agents’ Immigration Concerns

ICE Union Head: Obama Ignoring ICE Agents’ Immigration Concerns

Fresh off dispatching a letter to the “Gang of Eight” senators requesting a meeting, the head of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents union voiced concern Tuesday that President Barack Obama has not responded to his February request to be part of White House immigration reform meetings.

“We are concerned to see that President Obama is urging Congress to rush immigration legislation when he has still not acknowledged or replied to our letter from 6 weeks ago asking that ICE officers be allowed to meet with the White House to discuss immigration policy,” the National ICE Council President Chris Crane said in a letter.

“We would hope that the nation’s chief executive would be willing to meet with the immigration officers who risk their lives every day to uphold the rule of law,” Crane added, claiming that while activists and business interests have been invited to discuss the future of immigration with the executive, his union has been left out.

Crane noted that the more than 7,000 ICE officers and staff who comprise the AFL-CIO affiliate “understand the nation’s broken immigration system arguably better than any” thanks to their hands-on experience with immigration enforcement.

In recent months Crane and his union have been speaking out against the administration’s recent immigration policy changes, arguing that directives such as the deferred action program forces agents to break the law.

The National ICE Council sued the administration last year over the policy.

Still waiting for a response to his plea that the ICE union be allowed a seat at the White House’s immigration meetings, Crane added that any reform will not work if enforcement falls by the wayside.

“No immigration reform can succeed as long as federal officials can continue to unilaterally select which laws are enforced and which are not,” he continued. “I would therefore reiterate our request for our union, a member of AFL-CIO, to join the White House meetings.”

On Monday, Crane sent another letter to the “Gang of Eight” senators working on a comprehensive immigration reform bill also requesting a seat at the table in their negotiations.

Wild Thing's comment................

No matter who does it or what we end up with I will never understand how any politician or anyone holding office from a president on down ignores the existing immigration laws we already have. If they mean so little to our elected officials then get rid of the immigration law and let everyone in, no rules, no laws. Either laws mean something or they don't. Obama Plans to STEAL Millions Of Acres Of Land To Save Plants And Animals From Global Warming

Obama eyes taking millions of acres to save habitat from global warming

A sweeping new Obama administration strategy to protect plants, fish and animals from the hazards of global warming would require the government to set aside millions of acres of land to preserve threatened habitat.

“More than millions of acres across the landscape will be required,” said U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Dan Ashe. “The lands will be protected by easement, by land acquisitions, by local, by land trusts, by state agencies, by federal agencies,” he told reporters in releasing a 120-page National Fish, Wildlife and Plants Climate Adaptation Strategy, in the works for four years.

“We’re doing it for wildlife preservation and we’re thinking about climate,” he added.

Under Obama, 4.5 million acres in 10 national wildlife refuges have already been set aside in part to ease the pressure of global warming on plants, fish and animals, said Ashe. A large purchase in Florida’s Everglades, for example, is aimed in part at preserving grasses that can help prevent rising water from flooding the area and destroying animal habitat.

The new strategy, produced by several federal and state agencies and tribal groups, would expand that program to protect habitat under global warming pressure and used by everything from butterflies and robins to foxes and even coral. For example, more habitat for grizzly bears would be set aside so they can move north as their habitat warms.

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius:On Second Thought, You Probably Will Pay More For Health Insurance Under Obamacare

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius:On Second Thought, You Probably Will Pay More For Health Insurance Under Obamacare

Wall Street Journal

Some people purchasing new insurance policies for themselves this fall could see premiums rise because of requirements in the health-care law, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told reporters Tuesday.

Ms. Sebelius’s remarks come weeks before insurers are expected to begin releasing rates for plans that start on Jan. 1, 2014, when key provisions of the health law kick in. Premiums have been a sensitive subject for the Obama administration, which is counting on elements in the health law designed to increase competition among insurers to keep rates in check. The administration has pointed to subsidies that will be available for many lower-income Americans to help them with the cost of coverage.

The secretary’s remarks are among the first direct statements from federal officials that people who have skimpy health plans right now could face higher premiums for plans that are more generous. She noted that the law requires plans to provide better benefits and treat all customers equally regardless of their medical claims.

“These folks will be moving into a really fully insured product for the first time, and so there may be a higher cost associated with getting into that market,” she said. “But we feel pretty strongly that with subsidies available to a lot of that population that they are really going to see much better benefit for the money that they’re spending.”

Ms. Sebelius added that those customers currently pay more for their health care if their plans have high out-of-pocket costs, high deductibles or exclude particular types of coverage, such as mental health treatment. She also said that some men and younger customers could see their rates increase while women and older customers could see their rates drop because the law restricts insurers’ ability to set rates based on age and gender.

Most people who buy their own insurance policies will begin doing so this fall through new online marketplaces, which federal officials believe will force insurers to keep their prices down.

Obama to Campaign Against Second Amendment

Obama to Campaign Against Second Amendment

Barack Obama is going to fly around the country to campaign against the Second Amendment in coming weeks.

Katie Pavlich at Townhall

As New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg pumps millions of dollars into the airwaves, President Obama is getting ready for a brand new campaign. Obama will travel around the country on a gun control tour, despite Democrat Harry Reid killing Senator Dianne Feinstein’s latest gun control legislation last week. Reid has offered for Feinstein to issue her legislation as an amendment, but won’t bring the legislation as part of a larger gun control package to the Senate floor for a vote.

Here is video of Gov. Mike Huckabee saying if the Republican Party embraces “Gay Marriage,” it will lose a large part of its base, because “Evangelicals will take a walk.”

Huckabee said Evangelicals base their views on an “objective standard” – referring to The Bible, as opposed to a “subjective standard” – our feelings or the “prevailing winds of culture.”

Dictator Obama's 'Homeland' to Scan Emails, Monitor Web Traffic

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

'Homeland' to Scan Emails, Monitor Web Traffic

NBC News technology

The U.S. government is expanding a cybersecurity program that scans Internet traffic headed into and out of defense contractors to include far more of the country's private, civilian-run infrastructure.

As a result, more private sector employees than ever before, including those at big banks, utilities and key transportation companies, will have their emails and Web surfing scanned as a precaution against cyber attacks.

Under last month's White House executive order on cybersecurity, the scans will be driven by classified information provided by U.S. intelligence agencies — including data from the National Security Agency (NSA) — on new or especially serious espionage threats and other hacking attempts. U.S. spy chiefs said on March 12 that cyber attacks have supplanted terrorism as the top threat to the country.

The Department of Homeland Security will gather the secret data and pass it to a small group of telecommunication companies and cyber security providers that have employees holding security clearances, government and industry officials said. Those companies will then offer to process email and other Internet transmissions for critical infrastructure customers that choose to participate in the program.

DHS as the middleman
By using DHS as the middleman, the Obama administration hopes to bring the formidable overseas intelligence-gathering of the NSA closer to ordinary U.S. residents without triggering an outcry from privacy advocates who have long been leery of the spy agency's eavesdropping.

The telecom companies will not report back to the government on what they see, except in aggregate statistics, a senior DHS official said in an interview granted on condition he not be identified.

"That allows us to provide more sensitive information," the official said. "We will provide the information to the security service providers that they need to perform this function." Procedures are to be established within six months of the order.

The administration is separately seeking legislation that would give incentives to private companies, including communications carriers, to disclose more to the government. NSA Director General Keith Alexander said last week that NSA did not want personal data but Internet service providers could inform the government about malicious software they find and the Internet Protocol addresses they were sent to and from.

"There is a way to do this that ensures civil liberties and privacy and does ensure the protection of the country," Alexander told a congressional hearing.

Fears grow of destructive attack
In the past, Internet traffic-scanning efforts were mainly limited to government networks and Defense Department contractors, which have long been targets of foreign espionage.

But as fears grow of a destructive cyber attack on core, non-military assets, and more sweeping security legislation remained stalled, the Obama administration opted to widen the program.

Last month's presidential order calls for commercial providers of "enhanced cybersecurity services" to extend their offerings to critical infrastructure companies. What constitutes critical infrastructure is still being refined, but it would include utilities, banks and transportation such as trains and highways.

Under the program, critical infrastructure companies will pay the providers, which will use the classified information to block attacks before they reach the customers. The classified information involves suspect Web addresses, strings of characters, email sender names and the like.

Not all the cybersecurity providers will be telecom companies, though AT&T is one. Raytheon said this month it had agreed with DHS to become a provider, and a spokesman said that customers could route their traffic to Raytheon after receiving it from their communications company.

As the new set-up takes shape, DHS officials and industry executives said some security equipment makers were working on hardware that could take classified rules about blocking traffic and act on them without the operator being able to reverse-engineer the codes. That way, people wouldn't need a security clearance to use the equipment.

Civil liberties implications
The issue of scanning everything headed to a utility or a bank still has civil liberties implications, even if each company is a voluntary participant.

Lee Tien, a senior staff attorney with the nonprofit Electronic Frontier Foundation, said that the executive order did not weaken existing privacy laws, but any time a machine acting on classified information is processing private communications, it raises questions about the possibility of secret extra functions that are unlikely to be answered definitively.

"You have to wonder what else that box does," Tien said.

One technique for examining email and other electronic packets en route, called deep packet inspection, has stirred controversy for years, and some cybersecurity providers said they would not be using that. In deep packet inspection, communication companies or others with network access can examine all the elements of a transmission, including the content of emails.

"The signatures provided by DHS do not require deep packet inspection," said Steve Hawkins, vice president at Raytheon's Intelligence and Information Systems division, referring further questions to DHS.

GOP Leaders Meet on Benghazi, Vow Coordinated Inquiry Into Attack

GOP Leaders Meet on Benghazi, Vow Coordinated Inquiry Into Attack

FOX News

House Speaker John Boehner convened a special meeting on the Benghazi, Libya, terrorist attack Thursday, bringing in the chairmen of the House Intelligence, Foreign Affairs and Government Oversight committees, as well as Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, John McCain of Arizona and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, Fox News has learned.

While the three House Committees are conducting independent investigations of the deadly Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Government Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa, Foreign Affairs Chairman Ed Royce and Intelligence Chairman Mike Rogers agreed to now pool their findings in a single report that should be complete in "weeks not months."

"There were some members who wanted to have a conversation to kind of compare notes on what we know and what we don't know. And frankly, there's a lot that we still don't know," Boehner said. "It was a friendly exchange of information and some decisions about a way forward."

After the meeting, Rogers, R-Mich., told Fox News the members are taking a fact-based approach, and in the process, they are finding "anomalies" that still need to be addressed more than six months after the attack, in which Ambassador Chris Stevens and there other Americans were killed.

"We want to make sure that we have a full story of what happened, and where there are conflicting stories, we are going to work to de-conflict them," Rogers said. "I think the report will shed light on those decisions, including senior leadership that may have been involved or may not have been involved."

Asked if questions remained about President Obama's involvement in the U.S. response on the night of the Benghazi attack, Rogers responded, "or lack of involvement that evening."

The ranking Democratic member of the House Intelligence Committee, Dutch Ruppersburger, was not at the Thursday meeting, but he told Fox he has no problem with Republican efforts to dig into the Benghazi terrorist attack to fulfill their oversight responsibility.

"Let's get over the politics. There are many issues that we are dealing with. And bring closure to this, but if we don't have all the evidence then we need to continue to look at it," Ruppersburger said.

With gaps in the timeline, lawmakers say they want to question the survivors, as well as government employees and contractors in the military and intelligence community.

"There are people who are there, there are people who are decision makers in the intelligence community, in the State Department, in the Department of Defense, and there are people who still want to communicate things. And we want to make sure all those folks have an opportunity to have that discussion," Rogers said.

In recent letters to the State Department and CIA, Ayotte, McCain and Graham asked for the Benghazi survivors to be made available for congressional investigators to question. Graham told Fox News, in an interview with Bret Baier, that he'd spoken to survivors who claimed they had been told not to talk.

"I've had contact with some of the survivors. Their story is chilling. They feel afraid to tell it. It's important they come forward to tell their story," Graham said. "Some are back working for the government. Some are still injured. The bottom line is they feel that they can't come forth. They've been told to be quiet."

The State Department has been non-committal about making its employees and contractors who were in Benghazi available to investigators. An agency spokesperson said in a statement, “The CIA respects requests from Congress and we will provide a response through the appropriate oversight committees.”

Disgusting Obama Quotes Saul Alinksy In Speech To Young Israelis

Obama Quotes Saul Alinksy In Speech To Young Israelis

In his address in Jerusalem today, President Obama channeled Saul Alinsky, citing the radical community organizer’s defining mantra as he urged young Israelis to “create change” to nudge their leadership to act.

Obama told a crowd of college students at Jerusalem’s main convention center that Israel “has the wisdom to see the world as it is, but also the courage to see the world as it should be.”

One of Alinsky’s major themes was working with the world as it “is” to turn it into the world as “it should be.”

In his defining work, “Rules for Radicals,” which he dedicated to “the first rebel,” Lucifer, Alinsky used those words to lay out his main agenda. He asserted radical change must be brought about by working within a system instead of attacking it from the outside.

“It is necessary to begin where the world is if we are going to change it to what we think it should be. That means working in the system,” wrote Alinsky.

Senate Democrats Vote To Keep White House Tours Closed

Senate Dems Vote To Keep White House Tours Closed

Senators voted Wednesday to keep the White House closed to public tours, turning back a GOP-led effort to free up money to open the building back up after the sequesters.

The vote was just one of a series of high-profile votes the Senate was taking Wednesday afternoon as it plowed toward passage of a bill to fund the government through the rest of this fiscal year.

President Obama canceled the tours earlier this month as one of the casualties of the budget sequesters, setting off a chorus of complaints from Congress and the public.

Sen. Tom Coburn, Oklahoma Republican, offered an amendment to free up $8 million money to keep both the White House and several national parks open on their regular schedules. He proposed reclaiming money from national heritage areas elsewhere in the National Park Service budget.

But Democrats objected, saying it was a show vote that was note going to accomplish what Mr. Coburn said it would. They also said canceling park service heritage money would hurt their home states.

They defeated Mr. Coburn’s amendment on a 54-45 vote, with nearly every Republican voting to reopen the White House and with almost all Democrats voting to back Mr. Obama’s decision.

Jerusalem Post Editor: 'We Can't Figure Out What He's Doing Here'

Caroline Glick, Senior Contributing Editor of the Jerusalem Post said the Israeli people consider President Obama "a hostile president overall," on "Mornings on the Mall" on WMAL-FM in Washington DC.

Appearing with Brian Wilson and myself Wednesday morning, Glick said the Israeli people "can't figure out what he's doing here," when asked about the mood in Jerusalem as the President's plane touched down for the first time in his presidency.

"Essentially his goal is to empower the un-electable, incredibly radical left in Israel to put pressure on the Israeli government for whatever concessions he wants it to make to the PLO," said Glick in evaluating the reasons why Obama will be meeting with university students and members of the Palestinian Government during his visit.

When asked about how the installment of Chuck Hagel as the Secretary of Defense was received by the Israeli people, Glick said, "It's a hostile act."

Feinstein Says She’s Not Done With Gun Grab: “I’m Not Going To Lay Down And Play Dead”

The Hill

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) shot back late Tuesday at the notion her federal assault weapons ban bill was doomed after Senate majority leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) decided against including it in a base bill of gun control measures.

“This is very important to me and I’m not gong to lay down and play dead,” she said on CNN. “I think the American people have said in every single public poll that they support this kind of legislation.”

Reid earlier Tuesday said the Senate would vote on Feinstein’s bill as an amendment to the broader gun-reform package, but that it would not be packaged with some of the less-controversial measures that deal with increasing school safety, and cracking down on straw purchasers.

Reid defended the decision to reporters, predicting Feinstein’s legislation wouldn’t pull a majority even in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

Obama Chief Of Staff: “We’re Going To Find The Votes” To Pass Assault Weapons Ban

White House chief of staff Denis McDonough said in an interview Tuesday that Senate Democrats’ decision to introduce a gun control bill that doesn’t include an assault weapons ban does not constitute a setback for President Obama’s gun control efforts.

In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, McDonough said the bill can still be brought up as an amendment and that there should still be a concerted effort to pass it.

“We’re going to work on this. We’re going to find the votes,” McDonough said, according to a transcript. “And it deserves a vote and let’s see if we can get it done.”

The prospects for the assault weapons ban have never been good, even in the Senate, where Democrats have the majority. In announcing that it would likely not be part of the Senate’s package earlier today, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) spoke as if the effort was over and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said the ban was very far from the level of support needed for passage.

Hitler Survivor Condemns Gun Control 'KEEP YOUR GUNS, BUY MORE GUNS

Katie Worthman was born in Austria, and lived there for seven years under Hitlers brutal regime, and after world war II, she also lived three years under Soviet communist occupation. Needless to say, but Mrs. Worthman is someone who has an acute awareness of how media distorts things and tyranny comes to power. Mrs. Worthman, not only says that the media was wrong about how Hitler came to power, but she says that "In the beginning, Hitler didn't look like, or talk like a monster at all. He talked like an American politician."

She says that the story of Hitler overthrowing governments and people in order to come to power just simply isn't true, but rather the Austrian people elected Hitler with 98% of the vote at the ballot box. Mrs. Worthman then goes on to say that the Austrian people had guns, but the government began to say that they were dangerous, so they began to implement gun registration. Then she said this was followed by turning in their weapons to the police station in order to cut down on crime, and if citizens didn't... there would be capital punishment.

Mrs. Worthman says that the dictatorship, "didn't happen over night, but it took 5 years, gradually, little by little, to escalate to a dictatorship."

She then goes on to say that, "When the people fear the government, that's tyranny, but when the government fears the people, that's liberty."

As a Nazi survivor, what is her advice to us... "Keep your guns, keep your guns and buy more guns."

The map of the Middle East displayed in an Obama administration video released days before President Barack Obama’s visit to Israel shows the Jewish state dispossessed of substantial parts of its current territory, including its capital.

The map of Israel, displayed repeatedly during the video, shows the Golan Heights, Jerusalem, northern Israel, and areas surrounding what is currently the West Bank as non-Israeli territory. The Golan Heights is shown as part of Syria; Jerusalem is shown as part of the West Bank; and northern Israel is shown as part of Lebanon.

The itinerary on the White House website also implies that Jerusalem is neither Israel’s capital nor even part of Israel.

CNN Poll: Obama’s Net Approval Rating Tanks 15 Points

Politico

Obama’s approval rating has fallen 8 points and his disapproval rating jumped 7 points since the beginning of the year, leaving him underwater, according to a new CNN/ORC International poll.

Some 47 percent of respondents approve of the job he’s doing, while 50 percent disapprove, the poll found. [...]

Gallup earlier this month found his three-day approval rating tumbling to its lowest level since reelection. A McClatchy Marist poll last week found his approval rating at 45 percent among registered voters, the lowest level since 2011. Quinnipiac came up with the same result earlier this month — 45 percent — compared with 53 percent after reelection.

White House press secretary Jay Carney has said people shouldn’t pay attention to the “series of polls” and pointed out that a recent Washington Post poll found his approval rating at 50 percent. Gun Shops Face Massive Ammunition Shortage

Gun Shops Face Massive Ammunition Shortage

NEW YORK (CNNMoney)- Gun enthusiasts are buying firearms with unparalleled zeal. As a result, ammunition is in short supply nationwide.

"We can't get any inventory within a 100-mile radius," said Mark Campbell, owner of Mid America Arms in St. Louis. He's having a hard time keeping ammo in stock. "It started right around the election, as soon as President Obama mentioned gun control. But right after the school shooting in [Newtown] Connecticut, that's when it went crazy."

Even the big ammunition retailers are feeling the pinch. Wal-Mart (WMT, Fortune 500) has been rationing its ammo since January, to three boxes per customer per day. And when a gun retailer like Cabela's (CAB) gets two or three shrink-wrapped pallets of 5.56 mm or .223 ammunition for AR-15 assault rifles, they're "cleaned off like locusts, within a couple of hours," according to Brian Rafn, a research director at Morgan Dempsey Capital Management in Milwaukee who follows ammo manufacturers.

Happy St. Patrick's Day To All my Friends

.

I hope you all have a fun St. Patrick's Day. And to those that are Irish thank you for the music, the humor and the hearts uplifting others in your joy.
God bless our Troops and their families. You are all in our thoughts today as everyday.
~ Wild Thing

.

An Irishman who had a little too much to drink is driving home from the city one night and, of course, his car is weaving violently all over the road.

A cop pulls him over.

"So," says the cop to the driver, where have ya been?"

"Why, I've been to the pub of course," slurs the drunk.

" Well," says the cop, "it looks like you've had quite a few to drink this evening."

"I did all right," the drunk says with a smile.

"Did you know," says the cop, standing straight and folding his arms across his chest, "that a few intersections back, your wife fell out of your car?"

"Oh, thank heavens," sighs the drunk. "For a minute there, I thought I'd gone deaf."

.

Two Irishmen, Patrick & Michael, were adrift in a lifeboat following a dramatic escape from a burning freighter. While rummaging through the boat's provisions, Patrick stumbled across an old lamp. Secretly hoping that a genie would appear, he rubbed the lamp vigorously To the amazement of Patrick, a genie came forth. This particular genie, however, stated that he could only deliver one wish, not the standard three. Without giving much thought to the matter, Patrick blurted out, "Make the entire ocean into Guinness Beer!" The genie clapped his hands with a deafening crash, and immediately the entire sea turned into the finest brew ever sampled by mortals. Simultaneously, the genie vanished. Only the gentle lapping of Guinness on the hull broke the stillness as the two men considered their circumstances. Michael looked disgustedly at Patrick whose wish had been granted. After a long, tension-filled moment, he spoke: "Nice going Patrick! Now we're going to have to pee in the boat!

Obama's White House 'open to the rich and closed to the poor'

Obama's White House 'open to the rich and closed to the poor'

Why it's become clear that Obama's White House is open to the rich and closed to the poor

Once, only nobles were granted an audience with the King.

In America, we've prided ourselves on abandoning those privileges of class some 237 years ago, following that little uprising in the 13 colonies.

And we again congratulated ourselves at 12:01 pm Eastern Time on January 20, 2009, just moments after Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president of the United States and as he committed to making his administration the most transparent and open in history.

But more than four years later it is time to ask questions. The most transparent administration ever? The most transparently political, yes. The most open government? If you have the money to buy access, yes.

Since last weekend, Mr and Mrs Regular Citizen have been denied the access people used to be granted to tour the White House, purportedly because of the clampdown on federal spending since the "sequester" that imposed cuts across the board.

These tours, most recently guided by volunteers though monitored by paid Secret Service staff, have been an American tradition since John and Abigail Adams, the first White House residents, personally hosted receptions for the public.

And their cancellation is an austerity measure that saves a pittance, while more frivolous taxpayer funding for items like the White House dog walker continues.

Meanwhile, noble Americans can buy time with the president for a suggested donation of $500,000 to his new campaign group, Organising for Action.

Yes, the announcement offering access to the president for cold, hard cash was made openly and with total transparency. But it was also made without shame.

It's the third version of Obama's original monster campaign machine, Obama for America, which then morphed into a re-election campaign machine, Organising for America, on the third day of his first term.

It has now re-launched again as Organising for Action (OFA) - a non-profit, tax-exempt group headed by his former campaign advisers. Apparently no longer "for America", the group might just as well be called Organising for Obama's Agenda.

Its mission: to support the president in his attempt to achieve enactment of gun control, environmental policies and immigration reform.

At the two-day kick-off event last week for the new OFA's founding summit, attended by 75 folks for the "bargain" rate of just $50,000, Obama at least acknowledged the concerns raised by others about the funding, purpose and influence of the organisation.

However, he brushed them aside. With greater humility than new Pope Francis, Obama said he prided himself on feeling no obligation in the past to the interests of the generous donors who made his election and re-election possible. Though paradoxically he also said he wanted "to make sure the voices of the people are actually heard in the debates that are going to be taking place". So, he'll take money to listen to the voices of the privileged, but not do their bidding?

May I humbly suggest he could hear more voices, more clearly if he mingled with the public he serves? Perhaps the White House could hold open tours for the public! Why has no one in his administration thought of that? And volunteers could manage those tours, to keep costs down!

But, of course, those are what have just been cancelled. Meanwhile, three calligraphers reportedly remain on staff. I suppose their services are needed for the special hand-lettered, gold-foiled invitations sent to the nobles who are willing to pay for an audience with the King.

Those that voted for this POS Obama should find some kind of dignity within themselves to get fed up with Obama's dictator and KING mentality and how he shows every day he is not a president but a dictator and King wanna be. But they won't because too many of them are too stupid to be paying attention.

Obama Unable To Eat Lunch With GOP Senators Due To Lack Of Food “Taster”…

Following President Obama’s lunch meeting with Senate Republicans on Capitol Hill, Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins described the food served and the president’s reaction to what was on menu.

“University of Maine recipe for healthy lobster salad — I pointed that out to the president in keeping with the first lady’s initiatives and Fox Family Potato Chips made in Aroostook County where I’m from and wild blueberry pie full of anti-oxidants, see this was a healthy lunch as well. We did have a little ice cream on the pie too, also made in Maine, Gifford’s Ice Cream. So in all seriousness this was well received,” Collins told reporters on Thursday after the meeting at the Capitol.

“Unfortunately, you know, the president can’t,” said Collins when asked if Obama ate at the lunch meeting.

“He looked longingly at it,” Collins continued. “He honestly did look longingly at it, but apparently he has to have essentially a taster, and I pointed out to him that we were all tasters for him, that if the food had been poisoned all of us would have keeled over so, but he did look longingly at it and he remarked that we have far better food than the Democrats do, and I said that was because I was hosting.”

Evil Obama to Allow Spy Agencies to Scour Americans’ Finances...Yet His Past (documents, papers etc.) still hiden from public

Obama Administration to Allow Spy Agencies to Scour Americans’ Finances

Reuters

The Obama administration is drawing up plans to give all U.S. spy agencies full access to a massive database that contains financial data on American citizens and others who bank in the country, according to a Treasury Department document seen by Reuters.

The proposed plan represents a major step by U.S. intelligence agencies to spot and track down terrorist networks and crime syndicates by bringing together financial databanks, criminal records and military intelligence. The plan, which legal experts say is permissible under U.S. law, is nonetheless likely to trigger intense criticism from privacy advocates.

Financial institutions that operate in the United States are required by law to file reports of “suspicious customer activity,” such as large money transfers or unusually structured bank accounts, to Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

The Federal Bureau of Investigation already has full access to the database. However, intelligence agencies, such as the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency, currently have to make case-by-case requests for information to FinCEN.

The Treasury plan would give spy agencies the ability to analyze more raw financial data than they have ever had before, helping them look for patterns that could reveal attack plots or criminal schemes.

The planning document, dated March 4, shows that the proposal is still in its early stages of development, and it is not known when implementation might begin.

Financial institutions file more than 15 million "suspicious activity reports" every year, according to Treasury. Banks, for instance, are required to report all personal cash transactions exceeding $10,000, as well as suspected incidents of money laundering, loan fraud, computer hacking or counterfeiting.

"For these reports to be of value in detecting money laundering, they must be accessible to law enforcement, counter-terrorism agencies, financial regulators, and the intelligence community," said the Treasury planning document.

A Treasury spokesperson said U.S. law permits FinCEN to share information with intelligence agencies to help detect and thwart threats to national security, provided they adhere to safeguards outlined in the Bank Secrecy Act. "Law enforcement and intelligence community members with access to this information are bound by these safeguards," the spokesperson said in a statement.

Some privacy watchdogs expressed concern about the plan when Reuters outlined it to them.

A move like the FinCEN proposal "raises concerns as to whether people could find their information in a file as a potential terrorist suspect without having the appropriate predicate for that and find themselves potentially falsely accused," said Sharon Bradford Franklin, senior counsel for the Rule of Law Program at the Constitution Project, a non-profit watchdog group.

Despite these concerns, legal experts emphasize that this sharing of data is permissible under U.S. law. Specifically, banks' suspicious activity reporting requirements are dictated by a combination of the Bank Secrecy Act and the USA PATRIOT Act, which offer some privacy safeguards.

National security experts also maintain that a robust system for sharing criminal, financial and intelligence data among agencies will improve their ability to identify those who plan attacks on the United States.

"It's a war on money, war on corruption, on politically exposed persons, anti-money laundering, organized crime," said Amit Kumar, who advised the United Nations on Taliban sanctions and is a fellow at the Democratic think tank Center for National Policy.

The Treasury document outlines a proposal to link the FinCEN database with a computer network used by U.S. defense and law enforcement agencies to share classified information called the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System.

The plan calls for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence - set up after 9/11 to foster greater collaboration among intelligence agencies - to work with Treasury. The Director of National Intelligence declined to comment.

More than 25,000 financial firms - including banks, securities dealers, casinos, and money and wire transfer agencies - routinely file "suspicious activity reports" to FinCEN. The requirements for filing are so strict that banks often over-report, so they cannot be accused of failing to disclose activity that later proves questionable. This over-reporting raises the possibility that the financial details of ordinary citizens could wind up in the hands of spy agencies.

Stephen Vladeck, a professor at American University's Washington College of Law, said privacy advocates have already been pushing back against the increased data-sharing activities between government agencies that followed the September 11 attacks.

"One of the real pushes from the civil liberties community has been to move away from collection restrictions on the front end and put more limits on what the government can do once it has the information," he said.

New Pope....Jorge Mario Bergoglio becomes Pope Francis I

Here is the announcement........

Jorge Mario Bergoglio becomes Pope Francis I

Jorge Mario Bergoglio: first Latin American, first Jesuit to lead the world's Catholics

Pope Francis asks the Catholic faithful to pray for him.

USA Today.............

Throngs jamming St. Peter’s Square roared with joy as Argentine Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, archbishop of Buenos Aires, stepped onto the balcony as the new pope and leader of the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics.

Bergoglio, 76, is the first Jesuit and first Latin American pope. He also the first to take the pope name of Francis, for the saint devoted to the poor. The crowd was silent as Bergoglio recited the Lord’s Prayer and a Hail Mary.

“Let us pray for the whole world,” he told the crowd.

The 115 voting cardinals took five votes over two days to reach their decision, which came after a week of intense meetings and on the heels of the surprising resignation of Pope Benedict XVI last month, the first pope to step down in some 600 years.

Francis is a strict social conservative.

He is not without controversy. Bergoglio is reportedly linked to the controversial Comunione e Liberazione (Communion and Liberation), a conservative lay ecclesiastical movement within the Catholic church that was once a big supporter of disgraced former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Bergogolio holds conservative views on abortion, euthanasia, homosexuality and contraception and has blasted what he calls the “culture of death” in modern society.

The church, he once told Italian media, should help “children grow up healthily, are adequately fed, get a good education based on sound moral principles.”

Global Image Of America Tanks…You Can Blame Obama for this!

Global Image Of America Tanks

Worldwide approval of U.S. leadership dipped considerably during President Barack Obama’s fourth year in office — but it increased in some countries, including Mexico.

The median approval rating for U.S. leadership for 130 countries was 41 percent in 2012, down 8 percentage points from the 49 percent approval during Obama’s first year in office, according to a Gallup poll released Wednesday.

“This shift suggests that the president and the new secretary of state may not find global audiences as receptive to the U.S. agenda as they have in the past. In fact, they may even find even once-warm audiences increasingly critical,” Gallup’s Julie Ray wrote.

In Mexico, U.S. leadership had a 37 percent approval — an 11-percentage-point increase from 2011, according to Gallup.

“Some of the increase may stem from Mexicans’ optimism about future U.S.-Mexican relations after Obama welcomed then-President-elect Enrique Pena Nieto to the White House in late November 2012 and pledged cooperation on trade and immigration reform,” Ray wrote.

In Europe, U.S. leadership dipped from 42 percent in 2011 to 36 percent for last year.

Applying for Obama's Socialized Medicine (ObamaCare) No Easy Task

>br>

Applying for ObamaCare No Easy Task

WASHINGTON (AP) — Applying for benefits under President Barack Obama's health care overhaul could be as daunting as doing your taxes.

The government's draft application is now on the Internet.

It runs 15 pages for a three-person family. The online version has 21 steps, some with added questions.

At least three major federal agencies, including the IRS, will scrutinize your application.

That's just the first part of the process, which lets you know if you qualify for financial help.

You'd still have to pick a health plan.

Some fear that consumers will be overwhelmed and give up. Administration officials say the application form is being refined.

Still, the idea that picking a health insurance plan could be as simple as shopping on the Internet is starting to look like wishful thinking.

Obama's Socialized Medicine....Obamacare May Bite You At The Vet’s Office

Obamacare May Bite You At The Vet’s Office

Pet owners listen up: You may want to start saving more money for veterinarian care this year. The reason goes all the way back to Washington and an unintended consequence from medical reform.

Dog owner Lori Heiselman was surprised where her veterinarian posted a warning on Facebook.

The notice read: “Because medical equipment and supplies will be going up in cost, that extra expense will have to passed on to the

So Lori is already tightening her belt to pay for the increase in her dog’s care. Though she doesn’t like it, she’s willing to pay more for her pets.

“They’re very important. They’re members of the family,” said Heiselman.

Why the increase? Its part of a new 2.3-percent federal excise tax on certain medical devices that just went into effect. The tax will help fund the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, intended for people, not pets. Manufacturers pay the tax, but a recent survey found more than half plan to pass it along.

Some vets say they can’t afford it. Dr. Mike Hatcher is one of them. He explained, “I’m extremely concerned how this is going to be a hidden tax to our consumers that is going to be passed on.”

How does this work? Medical devices used only on animals are exempt. However, items including IV pumps, sterile scalpels and anesthesia equipment, which are medical devices that have a dual use, meaning they can be used on people and animals, will be taxed. Hatcher said, “Putting off an equipment purchase is something that can terribly affect our clients’ ability to have quality care.”

The American Veterinary Medical Association represents 82,000 vets. At this point, they don’t know how much this new tax will indirectly cost them. The organizations members are waiting to hear from more device makers.

VFW and Congressional Members Join in Protest of Obama’s New Drone Strike Medal

The VFW and Congress teamed up to oppose Obama’s latest folly–
Team Obama recently created a new drone strike medal and placed it above the Purple Heart for those soldiers and Marines serving in the field. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) has introduced legislation to require that the Purple Heart occupy a position of precedence above the new Distinguished Warfare Medal. The bipartisan bill has 42 cosponsors including a few Democrats.

Army Times

The 1.9 million-member Veterans of Foreign Wars is being mobilized by the group’s commander-in-chief to overturn a Pentagon decision to rank a new medal for drone operations higher in precedence than the Purple Heart.

In a message to all post, district and department managers, Vietnam veteran and former Marine John Hamilton says he wants every member of the nation’s largest organization for combat veterans to support House and Senate bills that would make certain the new Distinguished Warfare Medal ranks below the Purple Heart.

Defense Department officials, so far unswayed by complaints, want the new medal for cyber warriors and drone operators ranked ninth in order of precedence, ahead of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

“I cannot tell you how displeased I am with the new defense secretary for not overriding what has proven to be an extremely divisive decision by his predecessor, but the buck has not stopped yet,” Hamilton says in the letter.

There are 42 cosponsors of HR 833 and 11 cosponsors of S 470, similar bills ordering the Defense Department to reduce the ranking of the new medal.

“We have many friends in Congress who agree 100 percent with our position,” Hamilton said, “but the VFW needs you to get the other members of Congress off their duffs.

The VFW added this in their action alert:

VFW

The newly created medal would outrank the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. The VFW immediately came out in opposition of the placement of the medal. We believe it is very important to properly recognize all who serve and excel, but the new medal could spark internal debate and deteriorate morale as it leapfrogs more than a dozen current medals and ribbons – to include valor and combat injury awards.

Obama has never Submitted a Balanced Budget

This is a great ad from the House Republican Conference that hammers Barack Obama with his own words. It shows him saying again and again over the years that he is going to go through the Federal Budget “line by line” and “page by page” to cut spending and move toward a balanced budget. Yet, Barack Obama has never presented a balanced budget, and is once again, very late in even offering a budget. The U.S. Senate, controlled by Democrats, won’t even pass a budget. Obama and the Democrats are an embarrassment in the way they are handling the nation’s fiscal matters. They talk the talk to get elected, but they don’t walk the walk.

GOP leadership hints snub of House Republicans to support gun control

GOP leadership hints snub of House Republicans to support gun control

The GOP leadership establishment in the U.S. House of Representatives has hinted it may snub the rank and file Republican members of the House by stating they may seek to pass gun control measures without a majority of support from House Republicans.

The stunning announcement came from House Majority Whip, U.S. Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., who told CNN on Sunday, according to The Hill, that House Speaker John Boehner wants a major gun control bill to receive bipartisan approval even if it means the majority of House Republicans oppose it.

Such a bill would be fairly easy to pass even if only a minority of Republicans support it, as long as an overwhelming majority of Democrats vote in favor of the measure.

And this is precisely what Boehner and the Republican leadership establishment hint that they wish to do, pitting them in direct opposition to conservatives and the vast majority of Republicans in the House.

The tactic, further, would be a violation of what is known in the House as "the Hastert rule," named after former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, who during his term as Speaker initiated a rule that no bill would be submitted to the House floor for a vote unless a majority of Republicans supported it.

Boehner and the GOP leadership in the House have routinely violated the Hastert rule in recent months, allowing bills to be passed in spite of heavy Republican opposition.

But Boehner has also stated that he does not want to continue the practice in the long term. Although he would like to get bills passed in the House so that they can moved to the Senate for consideration, Boehner insists that he is committed in most instances to submitting to the floor only those bills that are supported by "a majority of the majority," meaning a majority of the Republicans, the majority Party in the House.

Conservatives, libertarians, and gun rights activists, however, were alarmed when McCarthy suggested that Boehner may betray them on the gun rights issue by allowing Democrats and a small minority of establishment Republicans to pass a firearms control law that has little support among the citizens in the heartland.

One activist stated that if Boehner continues to hint that this is what he intends to do, there will be a groundswell of opposition to establishment Republicans that could potentially ruin the Party's chances taking control of the Senate or increasing their majority in the House during the 2014 midterm elections.

Such a move by Boehner and the leadership establishment could further ruin the GOP's chances for winning back the White House in 2016.

As one conservative leader put it, "If Republicans are going to act, talk, and vote like Democrats anyway, then why should we care if Democrats win in 2014 and 2016? And the gun issue is important enough for us to turn against Republicans just as thoroughly as we have Democrats."

Wild Thing's comment.................

Republicans need to stand strong on gun control.

Sen. Feinstein: US Soldiers Should Not Be Bannd From Gun Control Laws – They May Have PSTD

Sen. Feinstein: US Soldiers Should Not Be Bannd From Gun Control Laws – They May Have PSTD

At a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting on Thursday, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California) opposed an amendment to her Assault Weapons Ban legislation that would allow military veterans to continue to buy the firearms that would be banned. Feinstein says a veteran may be mentally ill and should be prevented from purchasing firearms.

If I understand this, this adds an exemption of retired military. As I understand our bill, no issue has arose in this regard during the 10 years the expired ban was in effect and what we did in the other bill was exempt possession by the United States or a department or agency of the United States. So that included active military.

The problem with expanding this is that, you know, with the advent of PTSD, which I think is a new phenomenon as a product of the Iraq War, it’s not clear how the seller or transferrer of a firearm covered by this bill would verify that an individual was a member, or a veteran, and that there was no impairment of that individual with respect to having a weapon like this.

John Kerry Pressured To Make Benghazi Survivors Available

John Kerry Pressured To Make Benghazi Survivors Available

The Hill

Three Senate Republicans will press Secretary of State John Kerry to make the survivors of the terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya, available to a congressional investigation.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who has played a leading role in pressing the Obama administration to reveal more information about the attack, which left U.S ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead, said he and colleagues will send a letter to Kerry.

“We’re going to write a letter. Myself, Sen. [Kelly] Ayotte [N.H.] and [Sen. John] McCain [R-Ariz.] to Secretary Kerry asking to make the survivors available to the Congress,” Graham told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “The appropriate committees can interview the survivors about what happened that night.”

Graham said the administration’s initial account of what happened at the American diplomatic compound, that the attack was a spontaneous protest to an anti-Islamic video, has “collapsed.”

Graham, who faces a likely Republican primary challenge in 2014, blasted former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as oblivious to the dangers posed to the mission in Benghazi.

“We also know that Secretary Clinton did not have a clear idea of the threats in Benghazi because she never received any information coming from Chris Stevens and other people on the ground in Benghazi and Tripoli about the threats they faced,” Graham said.

“So she was not clear eyed. She was deaf and blind and before the attack is a clear example of a failed foreign policy, a detached president and a deaf and blind secretary of state,” he added.

Some Republican strategists have predicted Graham will shore up his standing among conservative activists at home by bird-dogging the administration on Benghazi.

He relished the opportunity to do so on Fox.

“God bless Fox News,” he said. “The media has been absolutely AWOL except for Fox and CBS.

“Can you imagine if this were Bush? And Bush was telling the American people there's no evidence of a terrorist attack here?” he added in reference to former President George W. Bush.

Graham accused the administration of setting up an ill-conceived security operation in Libya because it was determined to create a small American footprint but put American lives at risk.

He said the Libyan government was far too weak to protect American diplomats, which is why Stevens made repeated requests for additional security, requests that were denied.

“They wanted to basically lead from behind and outsource security to a nonexistent government in Benghazi, so the president is the primary culpable party here,” Graham said of the administration.

CIA Brennan takes oath on draft Constitution -- without Bill of Rights

CIA Brennan takes oath on draft Constitution -- without Bill of Rights

This is probably not the symbolism the White House wanted.

Hours after CIA Director John Brennan took the oath of office—behind closed doors, far away from the press, perhaps befitting his status as America's top spy—the White House took pains to emphasize the symbolism of the ceremony.

“There's one piece of this that I wanted to note for you,” spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters at their daily briefing. “Director Brennan was sworn in with his hand on an original draft of the Constitution that had George Washington's personal handwriting and annotations on it, dating from 1787.”

Earnest said Brennan had asked for a document from the National Archives that would demonstrate the U.S. is a nation of laws.

"Director Brennan told the president that he made the request to the archives because he wanted to reaffirm his commitment to the rule of law as he took the oath of office as director of the CIA,” Earnest said.

The Constitution itself went into effect in 1789. But troublemaking blogger Marcy Wheeler points out that what was missing from the Constitution in 1787 is also quite symbolic: The Bill of Rights, which did not officially go into effect until December 1791 after ratification by states. (Caution: Marcy's post has some strong language.)

That means: No freedom of speech and of the press, no right to bear arms, no Fourth Amendment ban on “unreasonable searches and seizures,” and no right to a jury trial.

How ... symbolic?

Not good especially if it is an oath taken by a democrat and one named John Brennan especially.

Obama Outings and Vacations Still In Full Swing While The People’s House Remains Closed

FOX News

WASHINGTON – Visitors to the nation's capital looking for a White House public tour are out of luck starting this weekend, courtesy of what the Secret Service says is its own decision to deal with the sequester cuts.

But while the agency said it needed to pull officers off the tours for more pressing assignments, the budget ax didn't swing early or deep enough to curtail a host of recent Secret Service-chaperoned trips like President Obama's much-discussed Florida golf outing with Tiger Woods and first lady Michelle Obama's high-profile multi-city media appearances.

Obama's pricey golf outings have been a particular target for Republicans who see them as examples of what they say are the administration's rather selective concerns with running up the tab of Secret Service resources. On March 5, Texas Rep. Louis Gohmert filed an amendment to a House resolution that would prohibit federal funds from being spent on Obama's golf trips until public tours of the White House resumed.

The Obama administration will release its 2014 budget more than two months late on April 8, according to congressional sources.

Pentagon officials have informed the House Armed Services Committee that the budget is coming on April 8, said Claude Chafin, a committee spokesman. A Democratic congressional source confirmed that is the planned release date.

The April release means President Obama’s budget will be nine weeks late, as it was due by law on Feb. 4, the first Monday in February.

Republicans have slammed Obama for delaying the budget so far past the deadline.

“This indicates a troubling unwillingness to lead,” Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, said of the new delay. “It is odd to me that the president would not have a plan and want the Congress to consider it.”

Horrible! John Brennan confirmed to lead CIA

Brennan confirmed to lead CIA

John Brennan has won U.S. Senate confirmation to head the CIA after a late struggle that had more to do with presidential power to order drone strikes than with the nominee's credentials to lead the spy agency.

The vote Thursday was 63-34. Brennan will replace Mike Morrell, the acting CIA director since November.

The vote came after the Obama administration bowed to demands from Republican Sen. Rand Paul and specified limits on the president's authority to order drone strikes against American citizens in the United States.

Paul declared he was satisfied with the administration's statement, which said the president does not have the authority to use a drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil.

We now have Muslim Brotherhood sympathizers as the Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense and the C.I.A Director.

Son-In-Law of bin Laden Due in NY Court on Friday

Son-In-Law of bin Laden Due in NY Court on Friday

A son-in-law of Osama bin Laden was captured by the United States — and he has been brought to New York City, where he was to be charged with terrorism, authorities said on Friday.

Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, identified by U.S. counterterrorism officials as a spokesman for al-Qaida, had been deported from Turkey to Jordan, where U.S. agents captured him, law-enforcement officials told The Wall Street Journal.

The charges stem from the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon, Fox News reports.

“It has been 13 years since Abu Ghaith allegedly worked alongside Osama bin Laden in his campaign of terror, and 13 years since he allegedly took to the public airwaves, exhorting others to embrace al-Qaida's cause and warning of more terrorist attacks like the mass murder of 9/11,” U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement reported by Fox.

“The memory of those attacks is indelibly etched on the American psyche, and today's action is the latest example of our commitment to capturing and punishing enemies of the United States, no matter how long it takes,” Bharara said.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Eric Holder said, "No amount of distance or time will weaken our resolve to bring America's enemies to justice," Fox reports.

But holding Abu Ghaith in New York has brought criticism from Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire.

They told Fox that the Obama administration's bringing of Abu Ghaith to court in New York was wrong, "sneaky" and against the will of Congress.

As an enemy combatant, Abu Ghaith should have been sent straight to the Guantanamo Bay detainee facility in Cuba for extended questioning, Graham told Fox.

Still, Rep. Peter King, the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, praised Abu Ghaith’s capture.

“Definitely, one by one, we are getting the top echelons of al-Qaida,” the Republican New York congressman said. “I give the [Obama] administration credit for this. It's steady and it's unrelenting and it's very successful.
“It goes right to the heart of al-Qaida, because it's bin Laden's son-in-law,” King added. “That's a psychological victory for us and a psychological defeat for al Qaeda.”

The FBI flew Abu Ghaith to New York last week, The Wall Street Journal reports, and he has since been talking to interrogators.

It is believed that in 2000 he traveled to Afghanistan, where he joined al-Qaida.

In late 2001, Abu Ghaith appeared on pan-Arab satellite television urging Muslims to battle the United States and warning of more Sept. 11-like attacks. In one video, he sat with bin Laden in front of a rock face in Afghanistan.

The declarations led Kuwait, where Abu Ghaith was born, to strip him of his citizenship. He was a teacher and mosque preacher there.

Last month, Abu Ghaith was arrested in Ankara, Turkey, on suspicion of having entered the country illegally with a false passport.

But Turkey decided to deport him to Kuwait via Jordan — where he was captured by U.S. authorities — instead of simply turning him over to the United States, The Journal reports.

Meanwhile, U.S. terrorism officials are working to determine whether Abu Ghaith might have been held as a prisoner in Iran, according to The Journal.

Officials believe he has been a member of al-Qaida's “management council” in Iran, a group formed in 2002 to advise bin Laden and provide support to the group's leaders in Pakistan, The Journal reports.

Abu Ghaith is expected to face many terrorism-related charges and possibly murder, which could carry the death penalty, Michael Rosensaft, a former prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan now in private practice, told Fox.

A trial will last months — if not years — Rosensaft predicted, adding that some of the evidence against Abu Ghaith will be a challenge for prosecutors to bring to court if it is classified.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney declined to comment on Abu Ghaith’s capture during Thursday's news briefing, Fox reports.

I thought they were going to do all trials at GITMO. Guess I missed something.

Chris Matthews In Love With Marxist Obama: " I Look at Obama as a perfect American"

MATTHEWS: These anti-government patriot groups have skyrocketed in number during President Obama’s time in office. There only 149 groups back in 2008 and 2012. There are more than 1300 and that’s an increase of over 800 percent. Look at the chart there. Yesterday the Southern Poverty Law Center sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Attorney General Eric Holder warning that the gun control debate may lead to even more such groups being founded. Mark Potok is a respected guy for us. He’s with the Southern Poverty Law Center. And Brian Levin is with the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University, San Bernardino.

Gentlemen, I want you to start tonight. It’s your report Mark. So lead the way here. Let me ask you this. I’m gonna get into this in my close tonight on the show, which I feel a lot. I Look at Obama as a perfect American. I don’t mean politically. We can disagree left and right on him. You can argue about the drones. Argue about the fiscal policy, all that stuff. But as a citizen. The guy went to school, he never broke a law. He did everything right. He raised a wonderful family. He’s a good husband, a good father. My God I don’t think he’s ever gotten a speeding ticket. The guy does everything right and these right-wingers. And he’s really been pretty moderate on guns until the horror of Newtown. And I don’t know what they’re so afraid of, except that he happens to be black. Is there some reason why he has sparked this explosion of right-wing organizing?

Ted Cruz Gets Holder to Admit That Killing Americans with Drones on U.S. Soil Is Unconstitutional

Ted Cruz Takes Over For Rand Paul’s Filibuster Of Brennan…and Eric Holder on Drones.

.

On Wednesday, testifying before a Senate panel, Holder was prodded repeatedly about this assertion by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). Holder eventually admitted that it would not be constitutional to execute an American citizen without due process.

RELATED: Obama Administration: Yes, The President Can Drone Strike Americans On U.S. Soil…

“In your legal judgment, does the Constitution allow a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil to be killed by a drone?” Cruz asked Holder pointedly.

“For sitting in a café and having a cup of coffee?” Holder replied. Cruz clarified that his hypothetical individual subject to a drone strike did not pose an “imminent and immediate threat of death and bodily harm,” but that person is suspected to be a terrorist.

“I would not think that that would be an appropriate use of any kind of lethal force,” Holder replied.

“With all respect, Gen. Holder, my question wasn’t about appropriateness or prosecutorial discretion. It was a simple legal question,” Cruz clarified.

“This is a hypothetical, but I would not think, that in that situation, the use of a drone or lethal force would not be appropriate,” Holder replied.

“I have to tell you I find it remarkable that in that hypothetical, which is deliberately very simple, you are not able to give a simple, one-word answer: no,” Cruz added. He said he think that his scenario would constitute a “deprivation of life without due process.”

Holder agreed and added that lethal force in Cruz’s case “would not be appropriate.”

“You keep saying appropriate – my question isn’t about propriety,” Cruz goaded. “My question is about whether something is constitutional or not.”

When Cruz was about to abandon his line of questioning after a number of equivocations from Holder, the attorney general clarified that he was saying “no” such actions would not be constitutional.

Michelle Obama, John Kerry to Present State Dept. Award to Egyptian Woman who has made Anti-Semitic Remarks; Said She Hopes “Every Year” comes “with America Burning”

The Weekly Standard’s Samuel Tadros is reporting that Michelle Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry are apparently about to honor with a State Department Award an Egyptian woman who has reportedly made anti-Semitic statements, and who has said she hopes “every year” comes “with America burning”:

On Friday March 8, Michelle Obama will join John Kerry at a special ceremony at the State Department to present ten women the Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Award. The award, says the press release, is given to “women around the globe who have shown exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for women’s rights and empowerment, often at great personal risk.”

Five of these awards are being given to women from Muslim-majority countries, underscoring the unique plight of women in those countries. The only problem is that one of the women to be recognized is an anti-Semite and supports the 9/11 attacks on the United States.

On Twitter, Ibrahim is quite blunt regarding her views. On July 18 of last year, after five Israeli tourists and a Bulgarian bus driver were killed a suicide bombing attack, Ibrahim jubilantly tweeted: “An explosion on a bus carrying Israelis in Burgas airport in Bulgaria on the Black Sea. Today is a very sweet day with a lot of very sweet news.”

Obama Email Tells Feds to Make Sequester as Painful as Promised

Email Tells Feds to Make Sequester as Painful as Promised

Washington Times

The Obama administration denied an appeal for flexibility in lessening the sequester’s effects, with an email this week appearing to show officials in Washington that because they already had promised the cuts would be devastating, they now have to follow through on that.

In the email sent Monday by Charles Brown, an official with the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service office in Raleigh, N.C., Mr. Brown asked “if there was any latitude” in how to spread the sequester cuts across the region to lessen the impacts on fish inspections.

He said he was discouraged by officials in Washington, who gave him this reply: “We have gone on record with a notification to Congress and whoever else that ‘APHIS would eliminate assistance to producers in 24 states in managing wildlife damage to the aquaculture industry, unless they provide funding to cover the costs.’ So it is our opinion that however you manage that reduction, you need to make sure you are not contradicting what we said the impact would be.”

“This email confirms what many Americans have suspected: The Obama administration is doing everything they can to make sure their worst predictions come true and to maximize the pain of the Sequester cuts for political gain,” said Rep. Tim Griffin, Arkansas Republican.

TSA Orders $50 Million in New Uniforms Right Before Sequester Kicked In - $1,000 per uniform

TSA Orders $50 Million in New Uniforms Right Before Sequester Kicked In

New reports surfaced today that just two days before the sequester took effect, the TSA ordered $50 million worth of new uniforms! This as the Department of Homeland Security issued dire warnings that there may be very long wait times at airports because they were going to have to layoff agents.

Each of the TSA’s 50,000 agents will get a closet full of new clothes, including:

3 long sleeve shirts
3 short sleeve shirts
2 pairs of trousers
2 ties
A belt
A sweater
A jacket
Socks

The TSA has issued a statement, saying, “Fifty million dollars represents the contract’s maximum value, not the amount expended. Without the contract bridge, TSA would not have been able to procure additional uniforms.”

Sickening how they spend and spend tax dollars. Add to that the terrible job and horrible people with TSA.

Dictator Obama approval drops to 43 percent

Election bump over, Obama approval drops to 43 percent: Reuters

Reuters

Less than two months into his second term, President Barack Obama's approval rating has dropped and Americans blame him and his fellow Democrats almost as much as his Republican opponents for a fiscal mess.

A Reuters/Ipsos online poll released on Wednesday showed 43 percent of people approve of Obama's handling of his job, down 7 percentage points from February 19.

Most of that steep drop came in the week to February 26 when it was becoming clear that Washington was going to be unable to put aside partisan differences and agree to halt automatic budget cuts which started last Friday.

Confounding the White House's efforts to blame Republicans for the cuts, most respondents in the online survey hold both Democrats and Republicans responsible.

Obama shot out of the gate in January at the start of his second four years in the White House, promising gun control and immigration legislation as well as efforts to tackle climate change and expand gay rights.

But Ipsos pollster Julia Clark said the survey shows Obama's honeymoon is now over, partly due to the "sequestration" cuts which will likely curtail public services like air traffic control and national parks as well as funding for the Pentagon.

"People are seeing things are back to business as usual in Washington," she said. "They are reading about the immense fallout this is going to have in terms of how it's going to affect the military and individuals."

I am glad to see it going down, but IMO it should be a flat line ZERO percent that approve of this communist.

So much for Socialized Medicine...Dictator Marxist Hugo Chaves Kicks Bucket

Venezuela’s Dictator Hugo Chavez is Dead at Age 58

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — President Hugo Chavez, the fiery populist who declared a socialist revolution in Venezuela, crusaded against U.S. influence and championed a leftist revival across Latin America, died Tuesday at age 58 after a nearly two-year bout with cancer.

Vice President Nicolas Maduro, surrounded by other government officials, announced the death in a national television broadcast. He said Chavez died at 4:25 p.m. local time.

During more than 14 years in office, Chavez routinely challenged the status quo at home and internationally. He polarized Venezuelans with his confrontational and domineering style, yet was also a masterful communicator and strategist who tapped into Venezuelan nationalism to win broad support, particularly among the poor.

The burly president electrified crowds with his booming voice, often wearing the bright red of his United Socialist Party of Venezuela or the fatigues and red beret of his army days. Before his struggle with cancer, he appeared on television almost daily, talking for hours at a time and often breaking into song of philosophical discourse.

NRA will sponsor an April NASCAR race in Texas

NRA to Sponsor NASCAR Cup Race in Texas

The National Rifle Association is taking its relationship with racing to a new level as the title sponsor of a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.

The deal with Texas Motor Speedway comes at a time when the NRA is involved in a renewed debate on gun violence in the wake of the December shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

“It’s not about politics. It’s about sports marketing,” TMS president Eddie Gossage said Monday after the announcement of the one-year agreement with the NRA that includes a renewal option.

The April 13 race at Texas, the first scheduled night race in the Cup Series this season, will be known as the NRA 500.

This is not the NRA’s first title sponsorship in NASCAR. The group sponsored the second-tier Nationwide race last September at Atlanta, which like Texas is owned by Speedway Motorsports Inc.

“They saw it was obviously a very attractive sports marketing opportunity and seized it. That’s what it’s all about,” Gossage said. “It’s about putting on one of the great sporting events in America. I know in Atlanta last year they saluted a lot of the people that make America free. They are going to salute American freedoms and American families with this race. That’s their plan so it seemed to be a good fit.”

Wild Thing's comment................

Great idea and it will keep the NRA in the news. Obama will hate it which is another thing to be glad about.

Obama's DHS Purchases 2,700 Light-Armored Tanks to Go With Their 1.6 Billion Bullet Stockpile

DHS released a video on their newly purchased MRAPs.

Obama's DHS Purchases 2,700 Light-Armored Tanks to Go With Their 1.6 Billion Bullet Stockpile

According to one estimate, since last year the Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm.
DHS also purchased 2,700 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP).

he Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) recently retrofitted 2,717 of these ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.

Although I’ve seen and read several online blurbs about this vehicle of late, I decided to dig slightly deeper and discover more about the vehicle itself.

The new DHS sanctioned ‘Street Sweeper’ (my own slang due to the gun ports) is built by Navistar Defense (NavistarDefense.com), a division within the Navistar organization. Under the Navistar umbrella are several other companies including International Trucks, IC Bus (they make school buses), Monaco RV (recreational vehicles), WorkHorse (they make chassis), MaxxForce (diesel engines), and Navistar Financial (the money arm of the company).

Homeowner Takes Biden’s Advice, Gets Arrested

Homeowner Takes Biden’s Advice, Gets Arrested

Breitbart

During the past few days and weeks, VP Joe Biden has been passing out advice on how to use a shotgun--the problem is, much of what he has advised is against the law. Virginia Beach resident Trevor Snowden found this out the hard way when he fired "a shotgun through the door" and faced charges for "reckless handling of a firearm."

The 22-year old Snowden fired through a door after seeing two masked men by a window of his residence.

It was during an interview with Field & Stream that Biden said one of the pluses of using a shotgun for home defense over an AR-15 is that you can "just fire the shotgun through the door" to keep people away from your house.

The problem with this advice, as Trevor Snowden discovered, it that using a shotgun in that manner is illegal.

As Breitbart News pointed out in another place, this goes right along with Biden's suggestion that homeowners randomly fire shotguns into the air to scare off intruders--after all, that is what he tells his wife to do if she hears someone outside when he's not home. Yet firing guns into the air within city limits is illegal as well.

Obama's Drones To Be Able To Detect if Citizen is Armed

Homeland Security's specifications say drones must be able to detect whether a civilian is armed. Also specified: "signals interception" and "direction finding" for electronic surveillance.

CNET News

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has customized its Predator drones, originally built for overseas military operations, to carry out at-home surveillance tasks that have civil libertarians worried: identifying civilians carrying guns and tracking their cell phones, government documents show.

The documents provide more details about the surveillance capabilities of the department's unmanned Predator B drones, which are primarily used to patrol the United States' northern and southern borders but have been pressed into service on behalf of a growing number of law enforcement agencies including the FBI, the Secret Service, the Texas Rangers, and local police.

Homeland Security's specifications for its drones, built by San Diego-based General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, say they "shall be capable of identifying a standing human being at night as likely armed or not," meaning carrying a shotgun or rifle. They also specify "signals interception" technology that can capture communications in the frequency ranges used by mobile phones, and "direction finding" technology that can identify the locations of mobile devices or two-way radios.

The Electronic Privacy Information Center obtained a partially redacted copy of Homeland Security's requirements for its drone fleet through the Freedom of Information Act and published it this week. CNET unearthed an unredacted copy of the requirements that provides additional information about the aircraft's surveillance capabilities.

Concern about domestic use of drones is growing, with federal legislation introduced last month that would establish legal safeguards, in addition to parallel efforts underway from state and local lawmakers. The Federal Aviation Administration recently said that it will "address privacy-related data collection" by drones.

The prospect of identifying armed Americans concerns Second Amendment advocates, who say that technology billed as securing the United States' land and maritime borders should not be used domestically. Michael Kostelnik, the Homeland Security official who created the program, told Congress that the drone fleet would be available to "respond to emergency missions across the country," and a Predator drone was dispatched to the tiny town of Lakota, N.D., to aid local police in a dispute that began with reimbursement for feeding six cows. The defendant, arrested with the help of Predator surveillance, lost a preliminary bid to dismiss the charges.

"I am very concerned that this technology will be used against law-abiding American firearms owners," says Alan Gottlieb, founder and executive vice president of the Second Amendment Foundation. "This could violate Fourth Amendment rights as well as Second Amendment rights."

Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection agency declined to answer questions about whether direction-finding technology is currently in use on its drone fleet. A representative provided CNET with a statement about the agency's unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) that said signals interception capability is not currently used:

Armed Services Chair: Never Seen Such Lack of 'Truth-Telling' from Commander in Chief

CNSNews.....VIDEO AT LINK.

House Armed Services Committee Chairman Howard "Buck" McKeon (R-Calif.). (AP) (CNSNews.com) – Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Howard “Buck” McKeon (R-Calif.) said on Friday that he has never seen such a lack of honesty from President Barack Obama over the sequester budget cuts, adding, “I don’t know what extent this White House will go to, but it’s got to end.”

“I have never in my lifetime seen such a lack of leadership and truth-telling emanating from the White House and from our commander-in-chief,” McKeon said during a press conference on Capitol Hill as the across-the-board spending cuts, known as the sequester, apparently were going into effect. The cuts, which constitute $44 billion less in increased spending in 2013, constitute about 1.2 percent of the federal budget for this year.

“Senator [Harry] Reid [D-Nev.] and the Democratic leadership for three years have not passed a budget and we’ve given them a pass,” he said. “You’ve given them a pass.” McKeon said the Joint Chiefs of Staff and all the military chiefs are operating without budgets. “These men, who’ve dedicated their life to protecting our nation, we put them in these very responsible jobs and give them no financial support, no direction,” he said. “Sequestration was the president’s idea over a year ago. And when we tried to fix it, he said, ‘No, if you do anything, I’ll veto it,’” McKeon said. “Then during the campaign he said it won’t happen. Then the last couple of weeks he’s come out and said it’s armageddon, the world’s going to end. Then the last couple of days he’s softened and said, no, it’s just kind of pitiful. He’s played all kinds of roles in this position.”

“And when [Bob] Woodward, a respected journalist, tried to lay out the truth, he was crucified, vilified,” he said. “And I don’t know what extent this White House will go to, but it’s got to end,” McKeon said. “We are done cutting our defense.” Automatic, across-the-board cuts taken equally from defense and non-defense spending began to take effect on Friday.

The reductions, as stipulated under the Budget Control Act of 2011, are designed to trim a minimum of $1.2 trillion in spending over 10 years. McKeon is concerned the arbitrary cuts will be detrimental to national defense. The Defense Department already announced in February that it would cancel the USS Harry Truman’s deployment to the Persian Gulf, reducing the number of aircraft carriers in the region in half, citing budgetary concerns from the sequester.

Americans renouncing citizenship to become British thanks to tax rise

Americans renouncing citizenship to become British thanks to tax rise

The number of people giving up their US citizenship to become British has surged thanks to complex tax rules introduced by the American tax authorities.

London-based American lawyers, who specialise in tax and immigration, report a threefold increase over the last five years in the number of American citizens who are giving up their citizenship - a process known as “renunciation”.

Across the world 1,781 Americans renounced their citizenship in 2011 compared with just 231 in 2008, when US tax laws changed, although it remains unknown how many are adopting British rather than any other nationality.

Many decide to give up their American citizenship after tiring of the lengthy US tax return process, which requires them to pay tax on their total income regardless of where they live.

“There’s no question that the number of people renouncing their US citizenship is increasing,” said Diane Gelon, a US tax and immigration lawyer based in London.

“I probably get a dozen cases a year now when before 2008 when the tax laws changed it was just three or four.”

The process can be costly. Applicants must complete five years’ of US tax returns, which can cost £1,000 a year if professional help is obtained, plus another £2,500 for legal assistance with the immigration process, excluding VAT.

Even if a US citizen earns all their income in Britain they are liable for tax in their home country which can lead to unusual tax situations arising, said Ms Gelon.

For example, US citizens are expected to pay capital gains tax to the US government if they sell a property in Britain which is their main residence, even though a similar tax is not imposed by the British Inland Revenue.

The US rules make concessions for tax paid overseas but there is still a risk that their citizens will be hit with a large tax bill, she added.

“Actually giving up your citizenship is dead easy - once you have an appointment with a consular official it takes a matter of minutes.

“But getting an appointment in London can take three months and that is largely because of the tax issues,” she said.

“It can be an emotional thing, to give up one’s citizenship. I’ve had clients cancelling their appointments at the embassy on the day they were due to renounce because they just couldn’t go through with it.”

Susan McFadden, another London-based US attorney who specialises in immigration matters, said: “I’ve definitely seen a surge. In the last few years it’s gone up threefold and I see through about two dozen cases a year.

“The US Embassy in London has responded to that demand - and quite a long queue for renunciation appointments - by streamlining the process.

“We are told they have trained additional officers to reside over renunciation processes.”

The 2011 census found 177,185 people living in England and Wales were born in the US.

All American citizens are required to file a tax return on their world-wide income. The rule applies even if they have not visited the US for decades.

The US Internal Revenue Service is likely to discover tax returns have been missed in a number of different scenarios. For example, it may come to light if a citizen applies to renew a passport, is named as a beneficiary in a will or their foreign-based bank complies with new legislation which requires them to notify the US government about all American customers.

A US Embassy spokeswoman said: “US Embassy, London, can confirm that we process renunciations, provide information on renunciations on our website and are committed to providing good customer service to renunciants.”

All Time Most Horrific President ...Obama says to reporter, 'What more do you think I should do?'

During President Obama's press conference March 1, a reporter said it sounded like he was passing all the blame for the automatic cuts on to Republicans and assuming none of it for himself.

It looks like Obama is talking to AP White House correspondent Julie Pace in this exchange here

Obama says, 'What more do you think I should do?'

Wild Thing's comment..................

Obama will never take responsibility for anything, never!!!!!!

A Peek at Awesome Mitt Romney, in an exclusive interview with "Fox News Sunday," Showing Tomorrow ( Sunday)

Watch the Romneys on "Fox News Sunday" at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. ET on Fox News Channel -- check local listings for Sunday morning airtimes.

Mitt Romney, in an exclusive interview with "Fox News Sunday," said Washington is letting a “golden moment just slip away with politics,” as he described watching the unfurling fiasco over the sequester. He described it as the “hardest” part about losing in November.

The 2012 Republican presidential nominee and his wife Ann spoke extensively with "Fox News Sunday" in their first post-election interview.

Romney said the automatic spending cuts which take effect Friday should be seen as an “opportunity” to finally solve America’s fiscal problems – by coming together on a “long-term fiscal” package.

“I mean I see this as this huge opportunity and it's being squandered by politics, by -- by people who are more interested in a political victory than they are in doing what's right for the country. And it's very frustrating, I have to tell you,” he said. “The hardest thing about losing is watching this -- this critical moment, this golden moment just slip away with politics.”

Romney criticized Obama, his former campaign rival, for “flying around the country and berating Republicans and blaming and pointing.”

“The president has the opportunity to lead the nation and to bring Republicans and Democrats together. It's a job he's got to do and it's a job only the president can do,” Romney said.

Joining other Republicans who say the administration is making the sequester seem worse than it is, Romney criticized the administration for recently releasing low-priority illegal immigrants from Arizona jails.

Wild Thing's comment.................

I am really looking forward to seeing this interview in full tomorrow. Things would be so much better if Romney had won. We would have a real President for one thing and not someone that hated our beloved country.

Pelosi Questions Patriotism Of Republican Army Veteran, Says He’s Not “On Team America”

Pelosi Questions Patriotism Of Republican Army Veteran, Says He’s Not “On Team America”

The Examiner

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., suggested that the sequestration fight is revealing that some of her colleagues in Congress are not “on Team America,” based on a comment made by Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Kan., [Pompeo served in the Army after graduating from West Point -ed.] that the sequester cuts are “a home run.”

“Democrats — we want solutions, Republicans want sequestration,” Pelosi said during her press briefing today. “Some of them have even called it a home run. That doesn’t sound like anybody on Team America if they think sequestration’s indiscriminate, mindless cuts across the board are a home run.”

Pompeo made his comment after the State of the Union. “It’s going to be a home run,” Pompeo told Politico. We are doing what the American people asked the US house t do in 2010 when I came here: we are reducing the size and scope of the federal government. I think the American people will have tremendous respect [for it]. I think the markets will respond very positively when we, for the first time, say ‘we have a spending reduction plan and we’re actually going to follow through on it.’”

Wild Thing's comment..................

Pelosi is a truly horrible person. I am so sick of how the democrats attack and attack and no one tells them off, up close and personal.

Obama Urges Supreme Court to Overturn Gay Marriage Ban

WASHINGTONIn a historic argument for gay rights, President Barack Obama on Thursday urged the Supreme Court to overturn California's same-sex marriage ban and turn a skeptical eye on similar prohibitions across the country.

The Obama administration's friend-of-the-court brief marked the first time a U.S. president has urged the high court to expand the right of gays and lesbians to wed. The filing unequivocally calls on the justices to strike down California's Proposition 8 ballot measure, although it stops short of the soaring rhetoric on marriage equality Obama expressed in his inaugural address in January.

California is one of eight states that give gay couples all the benefits of marriage through civil unions or domestic partnership, but don't allow them to wed. The brief argues that in granting same-sex couples those rights, California has already acknowledged that gay relationships bear the same hallmarks as straight ones.

"They establish homes and lives together, support each other financially, share the joys and burdens of raising children, and provide care through illness and comfort at the moment of death," the administration wrote.

The brief marks the president's most expansive view of gay marriage and signals that he is moving away from his previous assertion that states should determine their own marriage laws. Obama, a former constitutional law professor, signed off on the administration's legal argument last week following lengthy discussions with Attorney General Eric Holder and Solicitor General Donald Verrilli.

In a statement following the filing, Holder said "the government seeks to vindicate the defining constitutional ideal of equal treatment under the law."

Obama's position, if adopted by the court, would likely result in gay marriage becoming legal in the seven other states: Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon and Rhode Island.

In the longer term, the administration urges the justices to subject laws that discriminate on sexual orientation to more rigorous review than usual, as is the case for claims that laws discriminate on the basis of race, sex and other factors.

The Supreme Court has never given gay Americans the special protection it has afforded women and minorities. If it endorses such an approach in the gay marriage cases, same-sex marriage bans around the country could be imperiled.

Friend-of-the-court briefs are not legally binding. But the government's opinion in particular could carry some weight with the justices when they hear oral arguments in the case on March 26.

Despite the potentially wide-ranging implications of the administration's brief, it still falls short of what gay rights advocates and the attorneys who will argue against Proposition 8 had hoped for. Those parties had pressed the president to urge the Supreme Court to not only overturn California's ban, but also declare all gay marriage bans unconstitutional.

Still, marriage equality advocates publicly welcomed the president's legal positioning.

"President Obama and the solicitor general have taken another historic step forward consistent with the great civil rights battles of our nation's history," said Chad Griffin, president of the Human Rights Campaign and co-founder of the American Foundation for Equal Rights, which brought the legal challenge to Proposition 8.

The president raised expectations that he would back a broad brief during his inauguration address on Jan. 21. He said the nation's journey "is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law."

"For if we are truly created equal, than surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well," he added.

Wild Thing's comment...............

Obama hates Christianity, the Constitution, and capitalism, America.

Obama Sends 1,400 Manufacturing Jobs & Sensitive Technology to Brazil

Obama Sends 1,400 Manufacturing Jobs & Sensitive Technology to Brazil

Obama awarded the Light Air Support (LAS) contract to Brazilian-based Embraer over Beechcraft; a Wichita Kansas based company with a long history of supplying the U.S. military with aircraft. Had Beechcraft been granted the contract, the company expected to add or sustain 1,400 jobs in the U.S. The Embraer plane, on the other hand, will be primarily built in Brazil, with only about 50 assembly jobs in the U.S.

After a long-drawn-out contracting process that has been marred in controversy and questionable conduct by government officials, the Pentagon and the Obama Administration have again decided to put taxpayers at risk and ship jobs overseas by allowing a foreign company to produce important components of our national security.

“On Thursday February 27th, Department of Defense (DOD) officials awarded the Light Air Support (LAS) contract to the Brazilian aircraft maker, Embraer. Interestingly and without explanation, the cost of the contract to taxpayers somehow ballooned from $355 million to $427.5 million, a 20 percent increase. With sequestration and billions of dollars in defense cuts set to take place, taxpayers should be outraged at this cost increase.

“By awarding the contract to the Brazilians, the Administration has once again failed to give Beechcraft, the American-made aircraft manufacturer vying for the contract, the full and fair consideration that was required during the procurement process…

“…Now, the Administration is doubling-down on their prior mistakes by putting a critical defense project in the hands of a foreign sovereign. The extent of the carnage this decision causes is not just limited to the millions that will be sent overseas for these 20 LAS aircraft in the near-term. There are broader implications and untold billions of taxpayer dollars at stake by the Pentagon’s decision to grant the U.S. Air Force’s seal of approval to a foreign entity – backed financially and politically by Brazil. The Brazilian government has a “golden share” in Embraer, which essentially translates into operational control of the company. Not only does this put tax dollars at risk with the Brazilian company, but also could threaten US national security. The Administration’s unjustifiable endorsement of this Brazilian company could be exploited by them to gain unfair and unwarranted advantages in the U.S. and around the world. Meanwhile, domestic manufacturers are forced to cut jobs and highly skilled workers remain unemployed here at home.

Every Marxist, communist breath Obama takes is to destroy our country.
