Happy New Year 2014!

We will open the book.
Its pages are blank.
We are going to put words on them ourselves.
The book is called "Opportunity" and its first
chapter is New Year's Day.

We thank You for those who are serving in our armed forces. Each day they are making brave sacrifices so that our country can remain strong and free. Keep them safe under the shelter of Your wings. And Lord, for their families back home——whose loving support enables our armed forces, to do all that they are called on to do——we ask that You comfort them and give them Your peace...the peace that passes all understanding.

I thank you too for my wonderful friends I have made through the years. They will live in my heart forever. Thank you to each one of you that come to this blog, thank you for your kindness, your input and friendship. Thank you for being a part of my life. ......Chrissie aka Wild Thing

Wow! Obama Admin Calls Jihadists Who Attacked Russia “Folks Who Want To Cause Mischief”

Obama Admin Calls Jihadists Who Attacked Russia “Folks Who Want To Cause Mischief"

The Obama administration offered to work on Sochi Olympics security issues with Russia after a pair of bombings in Volgograd killed at least 31 people.

President Vladimir Putin gave instructions to the National Anti-Terrorism Committee “to step up security measures across all of Russia and specifically in Volgograd region,” the Kremlin said Monday. “The president will receive daily reports from the NAC on the measures being taken along with regular situation reports.” [...]

Over at the State Department, spokeswoman Marie Harf acknowledged the security issues highlighted by the bombings but still strove to argue that Sochi, 600 miles southwest of Volgograd but a hundred miles closer to Chechnya, is likely safe enough for the Olympic Games in six weeks.

“In terms of security for Sochi, U.S. citizens planning to attend should remain alert regarding their personal security at all times. I think our security experts have said that criminal activity in Sochi is similar to other cities of comparable size. Obviously, major events such as the Olympic games are an opportunity for thieves or for other folks who want to cause mischief,” Harf said.

This is typical of Obama and his people. Remember when Obama and his people said it was work place violence when the attack happened on one of our military bases.

Awesome Rep. Trey Gowdy DESTROYS New York Times Report Claiming Benghazi Attack was a Response to a Video

Rep. Trey Gowdy DESTROYS New York Times Report Claiming Benghazi Attack was a Response to a Video

Here is video of GOP Rep. Trey Gowdy just DESTROYING the New York Times “investigative” report that claims Al-Qaeda had nothing to do with the Benghazi Terrorist attack that killed four Americans. Gowdy said the Times’ claim that the attack was the result of anger over an anti-Islamic video is easily refuted by asking, “Where did the violence in Benghazi come from before the video was ever released?” There had been numerous prior attacks on U.S. and other interests in Benghazi before there ever was a video. There is no answer for that!

The bottom line is that the New York Times is carrying water for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. The Times’ attempt to put Benghazi to rest shows just how worried the Democrats are about the impact Benghazi could have on their political prospects going forward.

Wild Thing's comment............

I love Trey Gowdy he is truly an awesome person.

Obama to push Israel to hand over half of Jerusalem, the Wailing Wall, The Temple Mount, Old Jerusalem, and the tomb of Jesus Christ to Hamas terrorists

Obama wants to hand over Christian holy sites to the Fatah-Hamas thugs.

The Times of Israel

US Secretary of State John Kerry will offer Israeli and Palestinian negotiators a political trade-off: Israeli recognition of the 1967 lines as a basis for the future Palestinian state, in return for Palestinian recognition of Israel as the state of the Jewish people, Palestinian sources told the Saudi daily Al-Watan on Sunday.

According to the sources, the mutual recognition will constitute the core of a framework agreement to be signed by the end of January, and negotiated in greater detail during the following months.

“The coming weeks will be difficult for the Palestinian and Israeli sides, since they will need to make tough decisions,” a source told Al-Watan. “On the one hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will need to live with a text speaking of the 1967 borders, and the Palestinians, for their part, will need to live with a text speaking of Israel’s Jewishness.”

Kerry is to visit the region later this week and is expected to present the sides with the framework plan, which is meant to keep peace talks alive.

One In Four Say Obama “One of The Worst Presidents” In History

One In Four Say Obama “One of The Worst Presidents” In History

A new poll has found that the number of Americans who think President Barack Obama is “one of the worst presidents” in history has increased by 5 percent over the past year.

The Fox News survey of 1,027 registered voters reveals that more than one in four respondents, a record high of 28 percent, believe he’ll go down as one of the worst. In a similar survey taken last December, 23 percent of respondents felt that way.

In this year’s survey, only 16 percent described him as a “great president,” compared to the 2012 survey when 29 percent predicted that he would turn out to be a “great president.”

Taking the rating a step further, six percent of respondents described him as the “greatest” president, compared to 12 percent who saw him that way a year ago.

Connecticut Gun Owners Wait in Line to Do Something Many Gun Owners Hope They Never Have To

WFSB 3 Connecticut

Connecticut residents waited in long lines on Thursday to register their firearms and high-capacity magazines before the state’s new gun laws go into effect on Jan. 1, 2014.

WFSB-TV reports that a “long-line of people” stood outside the Public Safety Building in Middletown, Conn., all day to register semi-automatic rifles and high-capacity magazines. Several residents were upset with the “unconstitutional” requirement, while at least one person didn’t appear to mind.

“I understand why they’re doing it, but I don’t think it’s constitutional,” resident Scott Boccio told WFSB-TV as he was registering his guns.

Charles Gillette, who was registering magazines, told the news station that he would have a problem with it if the state was trying to ban the magazines or firearms, but said “if they want to just know where they are, that’s fine with me.”

However, not one gun owner who was registering firearms or magazines said they think the new laws will reduce gun violence.

“If people are going to do things illegally, they’re not going to be here registering their gun,” Jared Krajewski, another resident registering firearms, said.

For now, in Connecticut, the law is the law. The new gun control measures were put into place following the tragic school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

State police Lt. Paul Vance said that gun owners must fill our forms completely and some may require a notary.

Convenience Store Clerk Turns The Tables on Armed Robber

A convenience store clerk in Ohio fought back against an armed robber and was able to disarm him late Saturday night.

Sandusky native 34-year-old Marc Alvarez was working at Convenience Food Mart when a masked robber armed with a gun burst through the front door just after 11 o’clock. Alvarez attacked the crook, got his gun, and ran him out of the store, Sandusky Register reports.

Alvarez said his primary concern during the incident was protecting a female co-worker.

“My main priority at the time was to keep my co-worker who was with me safe and out of the way,” said Alvarez.

The masked marauder demanded money, but instead of emptying the register, Alvarez walked around the counter and fought back. In the ensuing struggle, Alvarez managed to disarm the criminal and ran him out of the store.

Juan asked Krauthammer about the new taxes and where is the money going. Krauthammer's response - where do think Sandra Fluke is getting free contraception. There is over $1 trillion on new Obamacare taxes. And there is the hidden tax of higher insurance premiums due to unneeded benefits. Russia Says They Don’t Care If Obama Doesn’t Attend Sochi Olympics-Good for Russia

Russia Says They Don’t Care If Obama Doesn’t Attend Sochi Olympics

MOSCOW — The organizing committee for Russia’s Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics said Thursday it was “not really concerned” that President Barack Obama would not be attending the event.

Sochi will be the first games since 2000 not attended by a U.S. president, first lady, or vice president. Obama said his decision not to go was due to a busy schedule in Washington, but it has come against a backdrop of increased tensions with Moscow.

Asked if Obama’s decision to stay away was a concern, Head of Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov told NBC News: “The Olympic Games are the competition of outstanding sportsmen and this is the main reason why they are interesting.

“It’s not a summit, which only the country leaders attend. So we’re not really concerned about it.”

The U.S. and Russia have clashed over several issues in recent months, including the Syrian civil war and Moscow’s decision to grant asylum to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden.

But it is Russia banning”homosexual propaganda” that has prompted many Western celebrities and rights groups to call for a boycott of the Sochi Games.

Disgusting!!! Los Angeles 2 Gay men will celebrate their gay marriage on a Rose Parade float

Los Angeles 2 Gay men will celebrate their gay marriage on a Rose Parade float

PASADENA >> In a Tournament of Roses first, two Los Angeles men will celebrate their gay marriage on a Rose Parade float as it goes down Colorado Boulevard on New Year’s Day.

The wedding of Danny Leclair, 45, and Aubrey Loots, 42, will take place atop a giant wedding cake-shaped float sponsored by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, according to a press release. It is the third float sponsored by the foundation.

“One of the things we’re really excited about is we’re standing on the shoulders of thousands of men and women who came before us in this fight for marriage equality,” Leclair said. “We’re excited to be part of that story, to be able to do this because of them. We’re looking forward to honor that.”

This Rose Parade is the first year gay marriage has been legal in California following the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in June.

Loots and Leclair own Studio DNA Salons, a chain of L.A. area hair salons.

The float’s theme is “Love is the Best Protection.” It will feature a large wedding cake, decorated in white coconut chips and maroon-colored kidney beans with white roses and dendrobium orchids.

Leclair posted the news on his Facebook page Sunday with the note:

“Umm??...??those two tiny men on top of the float is us! Hee Hee?...”

The first-ever live wedding during the annual Rose Parade took place in 1989. It was called the “most widely witnessed wedding in American history.”

Leclair and Boots will take their vows before the nearly 500,000 people who will line Colorado Boulevard on Jan.??1 and millions of television viewers watching around the globe.

Leclair said he was recently in Pasadena to attend the flea market at the Rose Bowl and was stopped at a red light on Colorado Boulevard when he saw the grandstands that have been put up for the parade. “I got a little knot in my stomach,” he said.

Leclair, a native of Canada, and Loots, who is from South Africa, met 12 years ago at a Los Angeles nightclub. They celebrated a commitment ceremony 10 years ago, “Well before it was a even a possibility we could get married,” Leclair said.

Leclair said he and Loots weren’t planning on getting married anytime soon, but he applied to be a part of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation float when he was at a gay wedding expo in October.

He said the theme of the float inspired him.

Wild Thing's comment................

America is really going to hell and a lot of it has to do with Obama and his pro gay LGBT crap.

Those for the gay agenda could care less about children that look forward to seeing this parade. It matters not to these gay pushers demands how it effects the young innocent minds.

On Christmas Day Taliban Bombs US Base in Kabul

Two Taliban rockets landed inside the American embassy compound in Kabul early on Christmas day, in a reminder that Afghanistan remains riddled with insecurity even as foreigners marked the festive season.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which included another strike in the city, but caused no casualties.

“At approximately 6:40 local time in Kabul, approximately two rounds of indirect fire impacted the US Embassy compound,” a statement from the embassy said. “All Americans are accounted for and no injuries were sustained.

“The Embassy continues to investigate the attack.”

Rocket strikes on the capital have been rare in recent years but 2013 has been marked by a string of suicide attacks on high-profile targets.

About 5,000 active duty troops are receiving food stamps. Most are junior troops with large families according to the Pentagon.

Charles Krauthammer: Obamacare is a full-scale federal takeover!

Charles Krauthammer said that the reason people are so upset about Obamacare is because they are finally seeing what conservative Americans have been saying all along – Obamacare is a full-scale federal takeover.

Charles Krauthammer had this to say in an appearance on On the Record: Obamacare is a revolution in medicine. Everyone knew people would lose their health insurance. It was written into the bill. It’s a fraud. Insurers are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the government. Obamacare can now be seen for what it is. It is a full-scale federal takeover of healthcare. The whole damn thing is a public option.

Wild Thing's comment................

I agree it IS a take over by Obama's government and it is the worst nightmare we all knew it would be.

Obama Tried to Sign Up for Obamacare But “System Couldn’t Verify His Identity”

According to the White House, President Obama tried to symbolically sign up for Obamacare but the system didn’t recognize him.

Ed Henry at FOX News reported:

“We learned today from the White House. Initially, they said he signed up for what they called a bronze plan, paying about four hundred dollars a month in premiums. But, then they came back to us and said – Wait, he didn’t actually enroll. They said his staff did it and that’s because of his unique circumstance as Commander in Chief. That his personal information is not in particular government data bases. So healthcare.gov could not actually verify his identity, oddly enough… So his staff did it.”

HOMELAND THREAT: U.S. imam: Muslims Can Take The Property of Christians and Jews

Tennessee Imam Abu Ammaar Yasir Qadhi: “Jews and Christians are Filthy, Their Lives and Property can be Taken in Jihad by the Muslims”

HOMELAND THREAT: U.S. imam: Muslims Can Take The Property of Christians and Jews

Yasir Qadhi (aka Abu Ammaar Yasir Kazi) is an American imam and college professor who is described by a 2011 New York Times Magazine essay as “one of the most influential conservative clerics in American Islam.”

Born in Houston, Texas, to Pakistani parents, Qadhi spent his formative years in Saudi Arabia, having graduated from high school in Jeddah, after which he returned to the United States to pursue a B. Sc. in chemical engineering from the University of Houston, followed by a doctoral degree in theology at Yale University. Qadhi is presently a faculty member in the Religious Studies Department of Rhodes College, in Memphis, Tennessee.

Qadhi gives regular sermons and lectures, and also appears on a number of Islamic satellite channels in the U.S., U.K., Egypt, and India.

In his sermon/lecture in the YouTube audio below, Qadhi begins by calling Christians “shirk” for being “polythesists” who believe in the Triune God (three persons in one God), instead of Islam’s “monotheist” god Allah.

Then Qadhi really steps up his verbal abuse. He says, since “there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah wuzza wuzza,” Christians are “by necessity and by definition … the most evil of all evils.” Like all “unbelievers” and “polytheists,” Christians are “filthy.” They are ”najusa” (feces, urine) — “a filthy impure dirty substance.”

Qadhi declares that the prophet Mohammad — and by extension all Muslims — “has been commanded to do jihad.”

What is jihad?

Jihad “is a means to establish monotheism on the land.” The prophet had said, “I have been commanded to fight the people until they” convert to Islam. But “if they don’t [convert to Islam,] their life and property are halal [free for the taking] for the Muslims.”This hate-spewing man is not only an imam (the word means a teacher of Islam) but a college professor in Tennessee! If a Christian preacher or college professor had said this about another religious group — Jews, or Buddhists, or Muslims — it would be the leading news on all the mainstream media.

Paul Ryan Doubles Down on Cutting Veteran Pensions - Gone is the America-loving, enthusiastic VP nominee!

Paul Ryan Doubles Down on Cutting Veteran Pensions

House Budget Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) has doubled down on his move to cut pensions for military veterans in a USA Today op-ed published Sunday.

In the op-ed, Ryan opens up by highlighting the CBO estimate that the deal he cut with Senate Budget Committee chairwoman Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) would result in at least $20 billion in deficit reduction. “The Bipartisan Budget Act that Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., and I drafted will soon become law,” Ryan wrote. “We think it's a small step toward fiscal discipline in Washington. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office estimates the bill will reduce the deficit over the next ten years by over $20 billion. And unlike current law, it will provide much-needed relief to our already strained defense budget.”

As Breitbart News has reported, Ryan’s and Murray’s budget deal does not reduce the deficit. In fact, the deal raises the deficit by at least $15.5 billion because of a series of gimmicks that Ryan and Murray employed in the accounting of the deal -- namely, double counting of savings like the tactic which was employed in Obamacare, and the failure to include an estimate of the interest on the borrowed money for the first couple of years of increased spending. These are only a few among a series of other misleading statements Ryan has made about the deal.

The rest of Ryan’s op-ed is devoted to defending his decision to cut $6 billion worth of military pensions. "One part of the bill has become particularly controversial: the reduction in cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) for working-age military retirees,” Ryan wrote. “The federal government has no greater obligation than to keep the American people safe and we must take care of the men and women in uniform who put their lives on the line. For that reason, Congress is understandably hesitant to make changes to military compensation. But even hesitance has a cost." Citing the rising cost per service member since 2001, he then claimed that the need for reform is "undeniable."

Ryan cited and praised President Barack Obama’s Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel for his stance on the issue as well. Ryan wrote, “Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, a combat vet himself, has said ‘that we can no longer put off military compensation reform. DOD's leadership, Chairman Dempsey, the service chiefs, the service secretaries, and myself, we all know that we need to slow cost growth in military compensation. Otherwise, we'll have to make disproportionate cuts to military readiness and modernization.’”

Ryan then detailed what he says the changes to military veterans’ pensions would specifically do to veterans:

Here's what the new law will do. We make no changes for those currently at or above age 62. This reform affects only younger military retirees. Right now, any person who has served 20 years can retire—regardless of age. That means a serviceman who enlists at 18 becomes eligible for retirement at 38. The late 30s and early 40s are prime working years, and most of these younger retirees go on to second careers.

Ryan characterized the change as a “small adjustment” in the next paragraph, even though he admitted it could affect veterans by as much as $100,000 or more over their lifetimes, depending on when they retire.

“All this reform does is make a small adjustment for those younger retirees,” Ryan wrote. “If they retire before age 62, the annual increase in their retired pay will be 1% less than the inflation rate. In other words, their benefits will grow every year—just at a slower rate. And when the retiree hits 62, DOD will recalculate the retired pay so that it will be where it would have been if he or she had received the full inflation adjustment every year since he or she retired." Ryan then calculated that, for a hypothetical serviceman who enlisted at 18 and retired at 38, his benefits would change under the deal from about $1.8 million to $1.7 million.

"This is a far more modest reform than other bipartisan proposals, some of which would have fully eliminated the adjustments for inflation for working-age retirees,” Ryan wrote.

Despite Ryan’s claims these cuts are a “small adjustment” for veterans, that approximately $100,000, in some parts of the country, could be a significant percentage of the entire size of a mortgage for a house. According to the Mortgage Bankers Association, in October the average size of a home loan in America was $289,650. Ryan’s “small adjustment” cuts to veterans would be more than a third, then, of the average mortgage -- and in many cases, more than half of these veterans’ lifetime expenses for homeownership.

The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) estimates that the cuts could mean as much as $124,000 in lost retirement income for veterans, which would be even more significant losses of opportunity in the future for veterans.

Wild Thing's comment.............

There is no possible way he can justify cutting veteran's benefits. None.

Poll: 1 In 4 Voters Know Someone Who Has Lost Insurance because of Horrible Obamacare

One in four Americans have either lost their health insurance because of Obamacare or know someone who has, according to a new poll shared first with The Daily Caller.

The YG Network Congressional District Poll of 1,652 likely voters in 11 competitive U.S. House districts indicates Obamacare will be a powerful issue that motivates voters in important races in 2014.

Twenty-seven percent of respondents claimed knowing someone or personally receiving a health-insurance cancellation notice. Seventy-three percent said they didn’t have that experience.

In the same poll, 57 percent said these cancellation notices would be one of the most important issues in the 2014 election cycle. More than eight in 10 of those polled blamed both congressional Democrats and President Barack Obama for the cancellations.

Another Miserable Failure: White House Says It’s Ending Obamacare PR Blitz

The White House will conclude its sixteen day media blitz designed to promote ObamaCare on Thursday with the release of a series of reports touting state-specific benefits of the president’s signature law, according to an official familiar with the plan.

“These state reports mark the culmination of a multi-week effort by the White House and supporters of reform to bring a renewed refocus on each of these benefits and what the cost of repealing them would mean,” the White House official said.

According to the official, the reports will show what the cost of repealing the controversial law would mean to average families across the country.

The administration has touted the broader publicity push as an effort to rebrand the law after completing emergency repairs on the ObamaCare website, which proved badly broken throughout the first two months of open enrollment.

At an event announcing the initiative earlier this month, the president admitted that “poor execution” of HealthCare.gov’s rollout had “clouded” the positive aspects of the bill.

“If I’ve got to fight another three years to make sure this law works, that’s what we’ll do,” Obama said.

Wild Thing's comment..........

There is no upside to this lawless law.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) predicted Thursday that House Republicans pushing for passage of any amnesty package in 2014 will ensure Democrats and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid maintain control of the Senate.

Not only that, but Cruz argued that all House Republican engaged in passage of any amnesty should put a “Harry Reid for Majority Leader” bumper sticker on their cars.

“I think we've got an incredible opportunity to retake the Senate in 2014, to retire Harry Reid as Majority Leader, and the number one thing Republicans could do to mess that up is to refuse to stand for principle,” Cruz said on Texas-based Michael Berry’s radio program.

And if the House turns around and passes a giant amnesty deal that doesn't secure the border and grants amnesty, they might as well go and put "Harry Reid for Majority Leader" bumper stickers on the backs of their cars because it would be kicking conservatives, kicking the Tea Party, kicking millions of Americans in the teeth to make that same mistake again, so I hope they don't do it.

House Speaker John Boehner is actively working, along with House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and House Budget Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), to pass some kind of amnesty is 2014.

Boehner recently hired Becky Tallent as his immigration policy adviser, a move that most read as a direct play by Boehner to move on immigration in 2014. Tallent was an aide to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) when he worked with the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) to craft an amnesty in 2007. Tallent was heavily involved in writing that McCain-Kennedy bill.

Boehner’s spokesman Michael Steel told the Washington Post recently, too, that Tallent’s hiring is a sign the Speaker will push for amnesty. “The Speaker remains hopeful that we can enact step-by-step, common-sense immigration reforms – the kind of reforms the American people understand and support,” Steel said. “Becky Tallent, a well-known expert in this field of public policy, is a great addition to our team and that effort.”

Cantor, meanwhile, is in the process of drafting what he calls the “KIDS Act,” what essentially a legalization program for illegal alien youths. At the same time, Ryan is in the process of writing a bill that would legalize all illegal aliens in America.

Wild Thing's comment........

I agree, it will be the last straw for trying to win back our country with all the illegals voting Democrat.

Charles Krauthammer: Make no mistake — Obamacare is a full-scale federal takeover

Charles Krauthammer: Make no mistake — Obamacare is a full-scale federal takeover

by Charles Krauthammer

The lie of the year, according to Politifact, is “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it.” But the story of the year is a nation waking up to just how radical Obamacare is — which is why it required such outright deception to get it passed in the first place.

Obamacare was sold as simply a refinement of the current system, retaining competition among independent insurers but making things more efficient, fair and generous. Free contraceptives for Sandra Fluke. Free mammograms and checkups for you and me. Free (or subsidized) insurance for some 30 million uninsured. And, mirabile dictu, not costing the government a dime.

In fact, Obamacare is a full-scale federal takeover. The keep-your-plan-if-you-like-your-plan ruse was a way of saying to the millions of Americans who had insurance and liked what they had: Don’t worry. You’ll be left unmolested. For you, everything goes on as before.

That was a fraud from the very beginning. The law was designed to throw people off their private plans and into government-run exchanges where they would be made to overpay — forced to purchase government-mandated services they don’t need — as a way to subsidize others. (That’s how you get to the ostensible free lunch.)

It wasn’t until the first cancellation notices went out in late 2013 that the deception began to be understood. And felt. Six million Americans with private insurance have just lost it. And that’s just the beginning. By the Department of Health and Human Services’ own estimates, about 75 million Americans with employer-provided insurance will see their plans canceled. And millions of middle-class workers who will migrate to the exchanges and don’t qualify for government subsidies will see their premiums, deductibles and co-pays go up.

It gets worse. The dislocation extends to losing one’s doctor and drug coverage, as insurance companies narrow availability to compensate for the huge costs imposed on them by the extended coverage and “free” services the new law mandates.

But it’s not just individuals seeing their medical care turned upside down. The insurance providers, the backbone of the system, are being utterly transformed. They are rapidly becoming mere extensions of the federal government.

On what authority does a Cabinet secretary tell private companies to pay for services not in their plans and cover people not on their rolls?

Look what happened just last week. Health and Human Services unilaterally and without warning changed coverage deadlines and guidelines. It asked insurers to start covering people on Jan. 1 even if they signed up as late as the day before and even if they hadn’t paid their premiums. And is “strongly encouraging” them to pay during the transition for doctor visits and medicines not covered in their current plans (if covered in the patient’s previous — canceled — plan).

On what authority does a Cabinet secretary tell private companies to pay for services not in their plans and cover people not on their rolls? Does anyone even ask? The bill itself is simply taken as a kind of blanket authorization for HHS to run, regulate and control the whole insurance system.

Three years ago I predicted that Obamacare would turn insurers into the lapdog equivalent of utility companies. I undershot. They are being treated as wholly owned subsidiaries. Take the phrase “strongly encouraging.” Sweet persuasion? In reality, these are offers insurers can’t refuse. Disappoint your federal master and he has the power to kick you off the federal exchanges, where the health insurance business of the future is supposed to be conducted.

Moreover, if adverse selection drives insurers into a financial death spiral — too few healthy young people to offset more costly, sicker, older folks — their only recourse will be a government bailout. Do they really want to get on the wrong side of the White House, their only lifeline when facing insolvency?

I don’t care a whit for the insurance companies. They deserve what they get. They collaborated with the White House in concocting this scheme and are now being swallowed by it. But I do care about the citizenry and its access to a functioning, flourishing, choice-driven medical system.

Obamacare posed as a free-market alternative to a British-style single-payer system. Then, during congressional debate, the White House ostentatiously rejected the so-called “public option.” But that’s irrelevant. The whole damn thing is the public option. The federal government now runs the insurance market, dictating deadlines, procedures, rates, risk assessments and coverage requirements. It’s gotten so cocky it’s now telling insurers to cover the claims that, by law, they are not required to.

Welcome 2014, our first taste of nationalized health care.

Obama Urges Moms to Push Obamacare at the Grocery Store

In a meeting with “eight moms from around America,” according to a White House pool report, President Obama encouraged the mothers to sing the praises of Obamacare while they’re out shopping at grocery stores.

Obama, speaking to the moms in the Oval Office, acknowledged that there have been problems with the roll-out of his signature health legislation, but insisted that a solid P.R. campaign will rescue Obamacare.

When people “hear about preventive care, the more they hear about no lifetime limits,” Obama said. “The more information they get, the more satisfied they’re going to be.”

God bless Sen. Jeff Sessions, as he fights to save veterans benefits ahead of budget vote

Sessions fights to save veterans benefits ahead of budget vote

Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Mobile, has spent the last several days fighting to undo cuts to veterans benefits that are included in the Ryan-Murray budget deal, which was passed by the House last week.

The current legislation cuts veterans benefits by $6 billion over the next decade.

The Senate is set to vote on the bill Tuesday morning. Both Sen. Sessions and fellow Alabamian Sen. Richard Shelby have said they are opposed to the current bill.

Although it sailed through the House on a bipartisan vote of 332-94, Senate Democratic leaders indicated over the weekend that the bill’s passage is far from secured in the upper chamber.

“The struggle is still on in the United States Senate,” Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin, D-Illinois, told Fox News on Sunday.

But progress was made on Monday, leading aides on both sides of the aisle to predict that they will have the 60 votes needed to pass a procedural motion on Tuesday. They will then move move for final passage later in the week, which requires only a simple majority.

Many Senate Republicans have cited the fact that the budget deal exceeds the Budget Control Act of 2011 as grounds for opposing it. The Budget Control Act capped 2014 discretionary spending at $967 billion. The Ryan-Murray budget smashes through that cap.

“I’d really like to stay within the (spending) caps,” complained Sen. John Boozman, R-Arkansas. “This busts the caps and as a result I’ll vote against it.”

But Sessions and several of his Republican colleagues have chosen to focus their attention on the cuts to military retirees and vets.

“We need to find a better way to save $6 billion than take it out of the hides of our retired veterans,” said Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Mississippi.

Sessions’ plan to rescue veterans benefits involves saving money by closing a tax credit loophole that watchdog groups say has been frequently exploited by illegal immigrants.

The fix is simple. Applicants seeking to receive the child tax credit would have to submit their Social Security numbers. That way the IRS could easily weed out the illegal aliens taking advantage of the system. Sessions’ amendment would save the federal government roughly $4.2 billion, freeing up room for veterans benefits to remain at higher levels.

The handwringing in D.C. has already commenced with a budget deadline looming on Jan. 15. If a deal is not reached by then, another partial government shutdown will ensue.

Wild Thing's comment............

I applaud Sen Sessions' attempt to stop this egregious assault on our retired veterans and currently serving men and women in uniform.

Over $4 Billion per year is stolen from the US by illegal aliens who use this loophole.IRS Refunds $4 Billion Child Tax Credits Per Year to Illegal Immigrants Whose Kids Do Not Live in US

Shame on Paul Ryan for engineering this injustice. Shame on Boehner for even allowing the House to vote on it.

Our Government is determined to give free money to those who have never earned and don’t deserve it it as opposed to following through commitments on taking care of those who have earned the right through their sacrifice to our country.

Patty Murray and Paul Ryan with their military pension cuts to budget bill

Patty Murray and Paul Ryan with their military pension cuts to budget bill

Failure in in final bid to restore military pension cuts to budget bill

A final effort by Senate Republicans to halt cuts to pensions of military retirees failed late Tuesday, after Democrats blocked an amendment to the controversial budget bill.

The two-year budget agreement, which cleared a key test vote earlier in the day, was expected to get a final vote no later than Wednesday.

Ahead of the final vote, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., tried unsuccessfully to use a parliamentary tactic to force a vote on the amendment, which he wrote to undo the cuts for military retirees.

A provision in the already House-passed bill would cut retirement benefits for military retirees by $6 billion over 10 years.

Sessions wanted to instead eliminate an estimated $4.2 billion in annual spending by reining in an IRS credit that illegal immigrants have claimed.
He and fellow senators argued the bill unfairly sticks veterans and other military retirees with the cost of new spending.
“It’s not correct, and it should not happen,” Sessions said on the floor.

"By blocking my amendment, they voted to cut pensions for wounded warriors," he said afterwards. "Senators in this chamber have many valid ideas for replacing these pension cuts, including my proposal to close the tax welfare loophole for illegal filers, and all deserved a fair and open hearing. But they were denied.”

Sessions’ office claimed the vote Tuesday to block the amendment was a vote to "cut military pensions instead of cutting welfare for illegal immigrants."

Senate Budget Committee Chairman Patty Murray, D-Wash.,who brokered the budget deal with House counterpart Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., argued the GOP effort was really an attempt to kill the entire bill.

The Republican-led House passed the bill last week in an effort to avoid another stalemate leading to a potential government shutdown, like the one in October that polls showed was largely unpopular with voters.

The two-year budget deal would ease for two years some of the harshest cuts to agency budgets required under automatic spending curbs commonly known as sequestration. It would replace $45 billion in scheduled cuts for the 2014 budget year already underway, easing about half of the scheduled cuts.

Wild Thing's comment............

Heartbreaking how our government USES our troops and Veterans and throws them away. I am so sick of it.

Disabled Military Retirees Not Exempt from Pension Cuts in Budget Deal

Disabled Military Retirees Not Exempt from Pension Cuts in Budget Deal

A provision cutting the pensions of military retirees in the bipartisan budget deal that the Senate will vote on this week does not exempt disabled veterans, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

Disabled retirees were previously thought to be exempt from the changes to military retiree pay, which could cost servicemembers up to $124,000 over a 20-year period.

The Free Beacon previously reported that military retirees under the age of 62 would receive 1 percentage point less in their annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) in the plan crafted by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) and Senate Budget Committee Chairman Patty Murray (D., Wash.).

The section of the U.S. code that has been altered also applies to disabled servicemembers, many of whom have been wounded in combat.

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, called the change “unthinkable.”

“It has been asserted that the controversial change to military retirees’ pensions affects those who are ‘working-age’ and ‘still in their working years,’ with the clear suggestion being that these individuals are able to work,” Sessions said in a statement. “That’s why I was deeply troubled when my staff and I discovered that even individuals who have been wounded and suffered a service-related disability could see their pensions reduced under this plan.”

“It is unthinkable that this provision would be included in a deal that spares current civilian workers from the same treatment,” he said. “An equivalent amount of savings and more can be easily found, and I hope the Senate will move to address the unbalanced treatment of our servicemembers before considering the legislation any further.”

An original copy of a summary of the budget agreement, obtained by the Free Beacon, explicitly stated that disabled veterans would be exempt.

“This provision modifies the annual cost-of-living adjustment for working-age military retirees by making the adjustments equal to inflation minus 1 percent,” reads the summary, which was sent on Dec. 10. “This change would be gradually phased in, with no change for the current year, a 0.25 percent decrease in December 2014, and a 0.5 percent decrease in December 2015.

“This would not affect servicemembers who retired because of disability or injury.”

The summary now posted on the House Budget Committee website removed the sentence relating to disabled retirees.

The Ryan-Murray deal affects Chapter 71, Section 1401 of the United States Code, which deals with the pay of military retirees.

As the code is currently written, servicemembers can be eligible for early Chapter 61 retirement if it is determined that, due to a physical disability, that individual is no longer able to perform the duties of their office, grade, or rank. The individual must hold a disability rating of 30 percent or more according to Department of Defense standards, and the disability must be the proximate result of performing their duties during a time of war or national emergency.

Section 403 of the budget agreement amends section 1401a(b) of Title 10, U.S. Code, adding the “CPI minus one” percent provision, lowering the COLAs of disabled retirees.

Wounded servicemembers are entitled to Veterans Administration Disability Benefits, which remain unchanged by the budget deal. However, the change to Chapter 61 retirement could account for about 55 percent of a wounded service member’s disability pay, according to a Senate aide.

For example, a 28-year-old staff sergeant (an E-5 rank) who is forced to retire after 10 years would see approximately $50,000 in lost compensation over the next 40 years.

Rep. Ryan told the Weekly Standard that the changes are appropriate because servicemen and women who retire in their 40s after serving for two decades are still young enough to maintain a job.

Wild Thing's comment......

Paul Ryan is full of it and wrong.

I know this budget deal pos thing will probably pass but I am against how it does anything against our veterans in any way. Thank God for Sen. Jeff Sessions for speaking up.

Kerry Awards Vietnam With $17 Million to Fight Global Warming

rom an American gunboat decades ago, John Kerry patrolled for communist insurgents along the winding muddy waters of the Mekong Delta. From those familiar waterways that eventually turned the young lieutenant against the war, the top U.S. diplomat confronted a modern enemy Sunday – climate change.

In this remote part of southern Vietnam, rising sea waters, erosion and the impact of upstream dam development on the Mekong River are proving a more serious threat than the Viet Cong guerrillas whom Kerry battled in 1968 and 1969.

“Decades ago on these very waters, I was one of many who witnessed the difficult period in our shared history,” Kerry told a group of young professionals gathered near a dock at the riverfront village of Kien Vang.

“Today on these waters I am bearing witness to how far our two nations have come together and we are talking about the future and that’s the way it ought to be,” he said.

That future, especially for the water-dependent economy of the millions who live in the Mekong Delta, is in jeopardy, he said.

Kerry pledged $17 million to a program that will help the region’s rice producers, shrimp and crab farmers and fisherman adapt to potential changes caused by higher sea levels that bring salt water into the delicate ecosystem.

Rep.Trey Gowdy: Obama’s Disregard of Law ‘Has Reached an Unprecedented Level’

Trey Gowdy : Obama’s Disregard of Law ‘Has Reached an Unprecedented Level’

Obama administration pushed back the deadline for consumers to make their first payment for coverage under the healthcare law. This was just the latest lawless suspension of one of the Obamacare regulations.

On Sunday Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) told FOX News the Obama administration’s flouting of the law had reached an “unprecedented level.”

South Carolina Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy said Sunday that the Obama administration’s deliberate flouting of congressional law “has reached an unprecedented level,” claiming the time is now ripe for Congress to take the White House to court over executive overreach.

Gowdy spoke with Fox News’ Shannon Bream about a House resolution authorizing a congressional lawsuit against the executive branch. Although individual lawmakers do not have standing to challenge the president, the provision would allow the institution of Congress itself to sue the Obama administration for ignoring laws passed by the legislative body.

“The case law that says members don’t have standing also allows for the institution itself — under a theory of vote nullification, that if the executive is just nullifying the votes of a co-equal branch of government — that we may have standing,” Gowdy said. “So an individual member — the case you referenced was Dennis Kucinich challenging the actions in Libya — he does not have standing. But the institution of Congress as a whole, if it relates to recess appointments or the Affordable Care Act or immigration, courts have signaled that they may say the institution itself has standing, and that’s what [South Carolina Republican Rep. Tom Rice] is trying to do with his resolution.”

Insurance Companies Say White House Overstating Obamacare Fixes

Insurance Companies Say White House Overstating Obamacare Fixes

The Obama administration said Saturday that it had reduced the error rate in enrollment data sent to insurance companies under the new health care law, even as insurers said that the government’s records were still riddled with mistakes.

The quality of the data is important; it could affect the ability of people to get medical care and prescription drugs when they go to doctors’ offices and pharmacies starting next month.

More than 137,000 people selected health plans in the federal insurance marketplace in October and November, and administration officials say more than 100,000 signed up in the first week of this month.

For each person who signs up, the government is supposed to send information electronically to an insurance company in a standard format known as an 834 enrollment transaction. In some cases, consumers selected a health plan at the federal website, HealthCare.gov, but the government did not notify the insurance company. In other cases, insurers received duplicate files for the same person, files for one person were sent to an insurer in another state, or the “relationship code” was wrong so that, for example, a man’s daughter was listed as his wife. [...]

Insurers said that they had found many discrepancies and errors and that the government was overstating the improvements in HealthCare.gov.

In some instances, they said, the federal government reported that the home address for a new policyholder was outside an insurer’s service area. In other cases, a child was listed as the main subscriber — the person responsible for paying premiums — and parents were listed as dependents.

In some cases, children were enrolled in a policy by the federal government and parents were left off, or vice versa. In other cases, the government mixed up the members of a family: A child or spouse was listed two or three times in the same application in late November. Such errors can have financial implications, increasing the amount of premiums that a family is required to pay.

While some of the problems were discovered in the last few days, insurers said that they had previously reported many of the errors to the “help desk” at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and that the problems remained unresolved.

Wild Thing's comment............

I am glad the insurance companies in some ways are not kissing up to Obama.

Obama's Ill-Trained Obamacare Navigators Encouraging Fraud, Jeopardizing Private Info

Obama's Ill-Trained Obamacare Navigators Encouraging Fraud, Jeopardizing Private Info

The Obama administration decided that Obamacare Navigators, tasked with helping Americans enroll in a health insurance plan, would not undergo mandatory background checks. Now, in the ten weeks since the launch of Healthcare.gov, the ill-trained Navigators have put Americans' sensitive health and tax information at risk.

Breitbart News has obtained a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee report on the Obamacare Navigators that will be released Monday. It has found that Obamacare Navigators have been giving Americans misinformation and, in some cases, actively encouraging enrollees to commit fraud in order to raise their subsidies. To complicate matters further, there is no way for Americans to find out whether their Navigators are properly certified.

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said at a Congressional hearing that it was “possible” for convicted felons to become Navigators. The report, titled Risks of Fraud and Misinformation with ObamaCare Outreach Campaign: How Navigator and Assister Program Mismanagement Endangers Consumers, concludes that is only one of many worries Americans should have about Navigators.

The Oversight Committee, chaired by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), and HHS actually learned that "poorly-trained Navigators gave consumers incorrect information about the health care exchanges, violated HHS rules and procedures, and even encouraged applicants to commit tax fraud in some instances." Moreover, this was learned from various news reports due to the complete lack of any internal oversight.

On November 21, the Obama administration briefed the Committee. Those in attendance included Gary Cohen, the Deputy Administrator and Director of the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO), and Mandy Cohen, Director of the Consumer Support Group at CCIIO.

The Committee report concluded that "documents call into question the effectiveness of the Navigator program and the Obama administration's ability to safeguard consumer information." HHS’s mismanagement of the Navigator and Assister programs "induces fraudulent behavior and poses real threats to the safety of consumers’ personally identifiable information, such as one's social security number, yearly income, and other sensitive tax information," the report found.

The report also discovered that Obamacare Navigators have "encouraged consumers to commit tax fraud by underreporting income in order to qualify for ObamaCare’s health insurance subsidies." Some have "assisted applicants before completing their 5 to 20 hour online training course, and others took custody of paper applications and mailed them for the applicant, violating the rule that applicants must mail in the application themselves."

For instance, the Committee found:

Navigators from the Urban League of Dallas were captured on video encouraging applicants to lie on their health insurance application so the applicants could qualify for tax subsidies. Navigators were also recorded advising an applicant to lie about her smoking habits to obtain a lower monthly premium. It was later discovered that two of the so-called Navigators involved in the incident were assisting consumers with their applications even though they had not completed their training and certification requirements.

One self-identified Navigator gave a television interview in which she told viewers blatantly incorrect information—that applicants’ credit scores could impact their eligibility for certain plans. It later came to light that the woman was not a certified Navigator but rather a volunteer with a Navigator organization.

Mountain Project, Inc., a Navigator organization in North Carolina, has been collecting and mailing paper applications on behalf of applicants, in violation of Navigator rules and procedures.

The report found that HHS officials responsible for the Navigator program did not learn of the aforementioned incidents from internal oversight procedures, but rather from news reports.

Yet the Obama administration still does not plan to implement a “secret shopper” program to monitor Navigators. HHS officials have put together "webinars" for Navigators, but they are voluntary and do not cover specific details.

The report also found that because the Obama administration did not warn Navigators that there could be problems with the HealthCare.Gov website, "Navigators were essentially useless" when the website crashed and had problems. To make matters worse, notes from an October 11, 2013 meeting state that the Navigators were encouraging potential enrollees to use paper applications they knew may not bring applicants quicker results "to protect their reputations as people in the communities who can help."

The Committee found that this "push towards the use of paper applications further increases security risks, since health insurance exchange applications contain personally identifiable information such as the applicant’s full name, social security number, the names and social security numbers of everyone in the applicant’s household, and income for every member of the household."

The report also concluded that Navigators were also unprepared to handle situations in which consumers mentioned unreported income because the Obama administration did not even anticipate such situations. Gary Cohen, the director of the agency overseeing the Navigators, previously stated, "this could be one of the areas where it is a little beyond the ability of your average Navigator," when asked whether Navigators knew how to deal with Americans who may be engaging in tax fraud or intending to under-report income.

Though Cohen "admitted there is a need for better training on the issue through the ongoing education process" and did not rule out "requiring Navigators to report tax fraud in the future," the Obama administration "has not taken the necessary steps to prevent this type of tax fraud." The report found that Navigators have not even been provided with a document on how to handle potential tax fraud issues that may arise.

Navigators, the report also found, "lack guidance about how to comply with the Voting Rights Act, which requires that federal government applications provide the opportunity for applicants to indicate their interest in registering to vote."

And though Cohen told the Committee staff that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services "[keep] a list of certified Navigators, which, as of mid-November, numbered 2,500 individuals," the list is private, which means Americans do not have a way to know if their Navigators are actually even certified. That also allows Navigator organizations to "misrepresent the qualifications of an individual who is associated with that organization but is not a certified Navigator," the committee found.

Sen. Jeff Sessions: House GOP Didn't Understand Budget Deal Makes It Easier to Spend, Tax

Jeff Sessions: House GOP Didn't Understand Budget Deal Makes It Easier to Spend, Tax

On Friday, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) said House Republicans voted for a budget bill that made it easier for Senate Democrats to increase spending because they did not know the significance of a rule change, inserted into the bill, that allowed it.

Appearing on Mark Levin's radio show, Sessions, the ranking member on the Budget Committee, said he was "disappointed" that Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) did not inform him or his staff of the rule change while they were brokering the deal. Sessions said that if they had known about the change, they could have informed the House GOP and helped them push back against it.

"I don't think Republicans in the House understood the significance of it," Sessions said. "It's a rule that would only impact the Senate."

Sessions was referring to a "point of order" rule that requires 60 votes when a bill proposes spending beyond what is allowed by the Budget Control Act -- even when it is offset by taxes or fees. Sessions said he has used that point of order three times already to block Democrats "from spending more and taxing more." Under the deal brokered by Ryan and Murray, only a simple majority would be needed.

And Sessions said this loophole may, in the future, allow for spending increases larger than the ones he has already blocked.

Sessions, who plans to vote against the budget deal, said there is "no question about" the fact that the ability to reduce spending has been "eroded in this legislation."

"I wish this hadn't happened," Sessions said. "It's a pretty significant deal."

The House passed the deal, criticized by conservatives for increasing taxes, on Thursday, and the Senate will take up the measure next week.

Sessions is being polite, he says they did not understand the bill....I ask how many actually read it. deep sigh

McCain Praises “My Friend” Joe Biden As “Articulate” And “Honest”

USA Today

Some high-profile bipartisanship in Washington on Thursday night, as former Republican presidential candidate John McCain praised Democratic Vice President Biden for his long-time support of foreign aid.

McCain, a senator from Arizona, said Biden — a former Senate colleague from Delaware — “deserves our gratitude and respect for his many years of effective leadership in ensuring that all the resources America has to influence the course of world events are funded adequately and used effectively.”

The 2008 GOP presidential nominee also said he has never “doubted for a moment that the United States of America is fortunate to be served by as able, articulate, honest, dedicated and impassioned a world leader as my friend Joe Biden.”

More Obamacare Horror on the way... Here come the Obamacare TAXES

EDITORIAL: Here come the Obamacare taxes

LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL

First came the compliance burdens. Then came the expensive website woes, millions of policy cancellations and skyrocketing premiums. But if you thought Obamacare couldn’t be less popular, guess again. Here come the taxes.

As reported Sunday by the Review-Journal’s Jennifer Robison, there are a slew of new taxes to help pay for the boondoggle that is the Affordable Care Act, and the Internal Revenue Service will be reaching deep into wallets to collect that money starting next year. Those with high incomes face the biggest increases, but people at all income levels ultimately will feel the costs of the health care law — beyond higher deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses.

Single filers earning more than $200,000 and joint filers who earn more than $250,000 will see a 0.9 percent Medicare surtax on top of the existing 1.45 percent Medicare payroll tax, as well as a 3.8 percent Medicare tax on unearned income (investment dividends, rental income, interest and capital gains on property). And as Ms. Robison reported, that’s on top of the 2013 increases in the capital gains tax and the highest income tax bracket, meaning high earners are seeing a substantial tax jump in just two years’ time.

For the majority of taxpayers, whose income doesn’t meet that $200,000/$250,000 threshold, there are new limits on medical expense deductions and on flexiblespending accounts that are used to pay for everything from prescriptions to braces or even tuition for special-needs children.

Then, of course, there’s the dreaded individual mandate, which hits taxpayers who don’t obtain expensive Obamacare-compliant health coverage. For 2014, the penalty is $95 per person ($285 family maximum) or 1 percent of taxable income, whichever is greater. If your taxable income is $60,000, that’s a $600 tax. For the tax year 2016, those penalties rise to $695 per person ($2,085 family maximum) or 2.5 percent of taxable income, or a $1,500 tax on that $60,000 income.

How many families can afford that kind of tax hit?

Yes, there are some credits, particularly for small businesses. But as Bill McCarthy, a partner in the local accounting firm McCarthy Kaster CPAs, told Ms. Robison, figuring out the existing credit often chews up much of the savings because of record-keeping requirements and paperwork. “You might save $2,000, but the cost to calculate that is $1,000,” Mr. McCarthy said. That credit grows in 2014, but it’s unclear how many small companies might bother taking it — the Obama administration’s projections on everything from enrollment to pricing have been far off the mark.

Don’t forget the delayed employer mandate, which takes effect Jan. 1, 2015. Businesses that have at least 50 full-time equivalent employees and don’t offer Obamacare-compliant coverage will be taxed between $2,000 and $3,000 per worker.

One employer tax was not delayed to 2015: an annual reissuance fee of $63 per per insured person, a levy intended to bail out insurance companies for covering pre-existing conditions. So businesses are taxed if they offer medical benefits and taxed if they don’t. The reissuance tax is so bad the Obama administration wants to exempt unions as a political favor.

With each passing day, more Americans are realizing the Affordable Care Act isn’t affordable at all. It makes people and businesses pay more for worse coverage with less choice and it hits them with higher tax bills, all to subsidize insurance for a select few. As Washington Examiner columnist Byron York wrote this week, the Obama administration’s new promotional push to prop up this failing law doesn’t mention what was supposed to be the primary goal: helping Americans buy affordable health insurance.

Remember President Barack Obama’s promise that the law would reduce average annual family health insurance premiums by $2,500?

Despite the law’s myriad other failings — it has actually increased the number of uninsured — its resulting lack of affordability is enough to justify full repeal. This is not a healthy economy. There are not enough jobs. Obamacare and its tax and regulatory burdens are hurting, not helping.

Obamacare can we ever get rid of it???? I hope and pray we can.

Sebelius Declines to Say If She Ever Offered Resignation

Sebelius Declines to Say If She Ever Offered Resignation

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, the administration official who has been the face of the Affordable Care Act and who has shouldered much of the blame for the troubled HealthCare.gov website, declined to say Friday whether she had ever offered her resignation to President Barack Obama.

“I’m not going to discuss what I talk about with the president,” she said during an appearance in Miami.

Mrs. Sebelius has spent the last three-and-a-half years implementing the Affordable Care Act. So, when problems began to mount amid the botched rollout of the online insurance marketplace, a number of Republican lawmakers called for her dismissal or resignation.

So far, the Obama administration hasn’t fired anyone for the malfunctioning website, but the White House brought in Jeffrey Zients, a trusted adviser, to lead the effort to fix HealthCare.gov.

Mr. Obama has stood by Mrs. Sebelius, noting that she didn’t write the code for the website. On Friday, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney would not address the question of whether Mrs. Sebelius had offered to resign but repeated that the president has confidence in his cabinet secretary and appreciates the work she has done.

In Miami, Mrs. Sebelius also waved off a question about whether the president’s promise that “if you like your plan, you can keep your plan” was a lie.

Obama's Disdain For The Constitution Means We Risk Losing Our Republic

Obama's Disdain For The Constitution Means We Risk Losing Our Republic

Forbes

Constitution authorizes the President to propose and veto legislation. It does not authorize him to change existing laws. The changes Mr. Obama ordered in Obamacare, therefore, are unconstitutional. This means that he does not accept some of the limitations that the Constitution places on his actions. We cannot know at this point what limitations, if any, he does accept.

By changing the law based solely on his wish, Mr. Obama acted on the principle that the President can rewrite laws and—since this is a principle—not just this law, but any law. After the crash of Obamacare, many Congressmen have implored the President to change the individual mandate the same way he had changed the employer mandate, that is, to violate the Constitution again.

The main responsibility the Constitution assigns to the President is to faithfully execute the Laws. If the President rejects this job, if instead he decides he can change or ignore laws he does not like, then what?

The time will come when Congress passes a law and the President ignores it. Or he may choose to enforce some parts and ignore others (as Mr. Obama is doing now). Or he may not wait for Congress and issue a decree (something Mr. Obama has done and has threatened to do again).

Mr. Obama has not been shy about pointing out his path. He has repeatedly made clear that he intends to act on his own authority. “I have the power and I will use it in defense of the middle class,” he has said. “We’re going to do everything we can, wherever we can, with or without Congress.” There are a number of names for the system Mr. Obama envisions, but representative government is not one of them.

If the President can ignore the laws passed by Congress, of what use is Congress? The President can do whatever he chooses. Congress can stand by and observe. Perhaps they might applaud or jeer. But in terms of political power, Congress will be irrelevant. Probably, it will become a kind of rubber-stamp or debating society. There are many such faux congresses in tyrannies throughout history and around the globe.

North Korea’s Kim Jong Un Executes His “Traitor” Uncle Jang

Earlier this week Kim Jong Un had his uncle frog marched out of his seat in front of the rest of the government in a move not seen since the days of Saddam Hussein, formerly the socialist leader of Iraq.

Now the North Koreans are proudly announcing that they have executed the “traitor.” No worries though. He was “Worse than a dog!”

Kim Jong Un’s uncle has been executed, with North Korean state media calling the leader’s former mentor ‘worse than a dog’.

Documents Show State Department Told Security Contractor To Ignore Inquiries On Benghazi Attack

Breitbart

New documents obtained by the Washington D.C. watchdog group Judicial Watch show a State Department official ordered an executive at the security company in charge of protecting the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya not to respond to media inquiries regarding the September 11, 2012 attack on the compound.

One of the documents is a September 26, 2012 email from a State Department contracting officer named Jan Visintainer to an unnamed executive at Blue Mountain Group (BMG), the British company hired to secure the U.S. mission in Benghazi. Visintainer writes: “Thank you so much for informing us about the media inquiries. We notified our public affairs personnel that they too may receive some questions. We concur with you that at the moment the best way to deal with the inquiries is to either be silent or provide no comments.”

Some of the requested documents, according to JW, were redacted or not included. In one instance, Visintainer received a cryptic email just two days before the attack from a redacted source with an attachment. This attachment was not given to JW by the State Department.

Former Reagan Budget Dir. David Stockman Destroys GOP House Leaders for “Total Capitulation” on Budget Deal: It’s “a Joke and a Betrayal” – Video

If you have wondered about the wisdom of the new Budget Deal House Republican Leadership has agreed to with Senate Democrats, listen to what former Reagan Budget Director David Stockman thinks of it. He flat out calls it “a joke and a betrayal” by House Republican Leadership.

Stockman said it blows the caps on spending for the next two years – which, he explains, is really until 2018! That’s because this two-year deal runs out in 2015, when the Presidential Campaign for 2016 will be revving up. Neither party will want to do anything about dealing with spending, which means it will come after the 2016 Election. It will take a year for anything to get done – if it ever can get done – which means 2018. By then, Stockman says the Debt will be $25 Trillion and exploding.

Stockman pulled no punches, and said this represents a “total capitulation” by House Republican Leaders to the Democrats. He believes there ought to be a massive Tea Party response against every House Republican who votes for this deal.

On Special Report tonight, the panel talks about the new numbers for Obamacare- sign-ups hit 365,000 in the first 2 months - but the administration predicted 1.2M.

But to be covered under Obamacare, you have to had paid your first premium payment. How many 'enrollees' have paid their first payment? Between 5-15%. So only a fraction of the 365K have really enrolled in Obamacare

HHS Kathleen Sebelius Told Contractors Not To Cooperate With Congressional Investigators Looking Into Obamacare

Bloomberg News

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services told contractors not to cooperate with Congress’s efforts to investigate work related to the Obamacare website, a top Republican lawmaker said.

The agency informed Creative Computing Solutions Inc. on Dec. 6 that it isn’t authorized to disclose security testing information and other details to third parties, according to a letter today from Representative Darrell Issa to Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

The department may have sent similar letters to other contractors working on the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, wrote Issa, a California Republican and chairman of the House oversight committee.

The department’s actions constitute “criminal obstruction of a congressional investigation,” he said in the letter.

Cops use two AK-47s to jump-start car

Does the Swiss Army knife have a contender for the title of most handy tool? This one can be used in battle, at weddings – and to jump-start cars.

The ubiquitous Kalashnikov assault rifle has come to the rescue of several embattled Yemeni policemen.

Not in a firefight. Instead, it was in firing-up their unreliable car.

The problem: A flat battery. The solution – two Kalashnikovs and some lengths of wire.

The application: Linking the battery terminals between two cars in order to give one a jump-start.

The Al Arabiya News Channel has broadcast the incident to highlight the challenges faced by the small Middle-Eastern nation’s police force.

The country, which sits between Saudi Arabia and the Gulf of Aden, has a population of 23 million and 50 million firearms.

The Kalashnikov automatic rifle has been the favorite of military and police forces – as well as rebels and insurgents – for decades due to its simple and rugged design.

Racist Afirmative Action Gen. Colin Powell Endorses Single-Payer Health Care

Colin Powell Endorses Single-Payer Health Care

At a prostate cancer survivors breakfast last week, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, a Republican, marveled at the quality of single-payer health care systems abroad and suggested the U.S. follow suit.

Amid frustration with the rollout of President Barack Obama's health care plan, some members of Congress who agree with Powell are pushing for consideration of such a system.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., introduced the American Health Security Act of 2013 on Monday, which would require states to create their own single-payer insurance systems. A House version was introduced in March by Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash.

In single-payer systems, the government pays for most non-elective medical care. Supporters say adopting that tax-financed model would improve care and dramatically reduce costs by eliminating overhead and insurance company profits. Opponents fear rationing and reduced personal choice.

he 2010 Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, retained the private health insurance industry and forces Americans to buy private insurance policies or face a fine. Attempts to include a public health insurance option were blocked by Republicans and conservative Democrats who feared it would be a backdoor to a single-payer system.

Powell said, however, that he would welcome the adoption of a socialized insurance system.

"I don't see why we can't do what Europe is doing, what Canada is doing, what Korea is doing, what all these other places are doing," Powell said at the Dec. 5 event. "I am not an expert in health care, or Obamacare, or the Affordable Care Act, or however you choose to describe it, but I do know this: I have benefited from that kind of universal health care in my 55 years of public life."

Obama Hires Andrew Breitbart 'Nemesis' John Podesta to TRY to Save Second Term

Obama Hires Andrew Breitbart 'Nemesis' John Podesta to Save Second Term

Barack Obama has hired Bill Clinton's former White House Chief of Staff, John Podesta, to help him salvage his second term. According to the Washington Post, Podesta will return to the White House to advise Obama on "climate-change issues and executive actions, as well as the troubled health-care law."

Andrew Breitbart, founder of Breitbart News, considered Podesta his "nemesis" and the father of the "institutional left."

Podesta has, indeed, been the main organizer, money manager, and policymaker for the American left since Clinton left office in 2001. He founded the Center for American Progress (CAP), the left-wing think tank that supplies policies and personnel to the Obama administration. He also advised former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and worked with a variety of left-wing groups and donors, including ACORN and George Soros.

Andrew Breitbart memorably clashed with Podesta during the ACORN scandal. Podesta, who sat on ACORN's Advisory Council, conducted an internal investigation that concluded the group had not broken any laws. Breitbart accused Podesta of using the "politics of personal destruction" to attack ACORN's critics through his various groups.

The fact that Obama has reached out to Podesta for formal services, rather than informal assistance, is a sign of how deeply troubled his administration has become. The ongoing failure of Obamacare threatens Obama's own legacy as well as the political chances of whoever seeks the Democratic nomination in his wake. As much as Obama styled himself as a break with the politics of the past, he has turned to the past to save his own future.

Spike In U.S. Battlefield Deaths In Afghanistan Tied To Obama's Insanely Strict Rules of Engagement

Shades of Vietnam: Spike in U.S. troop deaths tied to stricter rules of engagement

Spike In U.S. Battlefield Deaths In Afghanistan Tied To Obama's Insanely Strict Rules of Engagement

The number of U.S. battlefield fatalities exceeded the rate at which troop strength surged in 2009 and 2010, prompting national security analysts to assert that coinciding stricter rules of engagement led to more deaths.

A connection between the sharp increase in American deaths and restrictive rules of engagement is difficult to confirm. More deaths surely stemmed from ramped-up counterterrorism raids and the Taliban’s response with more homemade bombs, the No. 1 killer of NATO forces in Afghanistan.

But it is clear that the rules of engagement, which restrain troops from firing in order to spare civilian casualties, cut back on airstrikes and artillery strikes — the types of support that protect troops during raids and ambushes.

“In Afghanistan, the [rules of engagement] that were put in place in 2009 and 2010 have created hesitation and confusion for our war fighters,” said Wayne Simmons, a retired U.S. intelligence officer who worked in NATO headquarters in Kabul as the rules took effect, first under Army Gen. Stanley M. McChrystal, then Army Gen. David H. Petraeus.

“It is no accident nor a coincidence that from January 2009 to August of 2010, coinciding with the Obama/McChrystal radical change of the [rules of engagement], casualties more than doubled,” Mr. Simmons said. “The carnage will certainly continue as the already fragile and ineffective [rules] have been further weakened by the Obama administration as if they were playground rules.”

As President Obama’s troop surge began in 2009, so did new rules of engagement demanded by Afghan President Hamid Karzai, who was responding to local elders angry over the deaths of civilians from NATO airstrikes and ground operations.

Even before the president’s edict, commanders since 2009 had to insure that a Taliban fighter was carrying a weapon before they could authorize direct fire. A unit engaged in combat on the ground and requesting airstrikes must convince commanders — and lawyers — back at headquarters that no civilians would be harmed.

Warriors say this chain-of-command bureaucracy has cost lives: Each Taliban fighter allowed to escape is one more terrorist free to attack Americans by fighting battles or planting homemade bombs.

“We handcuffed our troops in combat needlessly,” said retired Air ForceLt. Gen. Thomas McInerney, a fighter pilot in Vietnam. “This was very harmful to our men and has never been done in U.S. combat operations that I know of.”

In 2010, the first full year of the troop surge, 499 Americans were killed, according to the research website icasualties.org. That is about five times the annual death toll compared with 2006-2007 and three times the number in 2008 — yet U.S. troop strength roughly doubled, from 40,000 to 85,000.

In 2011, as U.S. troops peaked at 100,000, 419 Americans were killed. In 2012, as the troop count began to decrease, the death toll fell to 319, three times what it was in 2006-2007.

The battle of Ganjgal in Afghanistan’s Kunar province proved to be historic. An Army captain and a Marine earned Medals of Honor for their efforts in the 10-hour firefight.

The September 2009 battle also stands as a stark example of the effects the restrictive rules of engagement had on troops under fire, fighting for their lives.

Former ArmyCapt. William Swenson, who last month pinned on the Medal of Honor, repeatedly called headquarters to request airstrikes but was denied for hours, as more than 150 Taliban fighters surrounded and attacked his position.

Mr. Swenson vented his frustration in an after-action investigation.

“It’s not JAG [military attorney] responsibility to interject to say, ‘Hey, we are concerned that you’re going to hit a building,’” he said. “I can tell you that I am concerned with saving as many lives as I can, not necessarily one. Unfortunately, this is combat. I can’t be perfect, but I can do what I feel what’s right at the time.”

He added: “I am not a politician. I am just the guy on the ground asking for that ammunition to be dropped because it’s going to save lives.”

Mr. Swenson recalled other instances in which the brigade command would not authorize airstrikes on targets he identified.

“I just get the craziest thing across the radio sometimes,” he said. “Just people second-guessing.”

Of 13 U.S. forces at Ganjgal, five were killed. The Afghan National Army lost eight soldiers.

Another soldier said in the same after-action report that there was a dwelling in Ganjgal used by the Taliban — including women — as a safe haven from which to fire rocket-propelled grenades and other weapons. Yet the command would not target the building.

“Let’s focus on [rules of engagement] because there is no reason you can’t level a house if they are shooting from it,” the soldier said. “I’ve never heard of a rule that would not allow [you] to fire on a house. They always teach you that you always have the right to defend yourself. Let commanders on the ground make decisions. We are using lawyers to make tactical decisions.”

He added: “You have the right to stay alive or keep your guys alive. We failed them by not keeping them alive because we didn’t provide them what they need to come out alive.”

The linking of an increase in American deaths to restrictive rules of engagement emerged a month before Ganjgal, when Marine Lance Cpl. Joshua Bernard was ambushed and killed in southern Afghanistan while on patrol.

Weeks earlier, his father, a retired Marine sergeant, wrote members of his Maine delegation in Washington to say that new rules against air and artillery support would get troops needlessly killed because the Taliban now enjoyed new safe havens among civilians.

“The rules of engagement are so convoluted, so open-ended, that it puts the people on the ground at risk no matter what they do,” said John Bernard, according to the Marine Corps Times. “It’s insane. You don’t let your guys languish there when these things happen. You err on the side of your guys, not the civilians.”

Mr. Simmons, who did intelligence work in Afghanistan, said new restrictions for 2014 and beyond spell trouble for thousands of U.S. troops who could remain.

“The carnage will certainly continue as the already fragile and ineffective [rules of engagement] have been further weakened by the Obama administration as if they were playground rules,” he said.

James Russell, an instructor at the Naval Postgraduate School who has conducted research in Afghanistan, said: “I know of no way to quantify or gather evidence that would demonstrate a correlations between more casualties and a changed [rules of engagement].”

Mr. Russell believes the main reason for increased casualties in 2009 and 2010 was that troops conducted operations in Helmand province, which had been taken over by the Taliban.

“So we went looking for the enemy to take him on in the ground he controlled. Not surprisingly, we encountered a much more violent environment, which led to more casualties,” he said. “A restricted [rules of engagement] to reduce collateral damage and civilian casualties certainly complicated our operations, but I don’t think you could attribute our increase in casualties to this kind of single factor.”

Obama and his administration in talks with Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah

Evidence has recently emerged suggesting that the U.S. has opened a line of direct communication with the Lebanese Shia Islamist organization Hezbollah. Details of the contacts have emerged from a variety of sources. Most notably, an article by respected Washington based journalist Hussein Abdul Hussein in the Arabic language newspaper al-Rai contended that the direct contacts are handled by British diplomats, who transfer messages back and forth between Hezbollah and the Americans.

In Abdul Hussein’s article, he notes that the British channel of communication has only recently been revived. He quotes a diplomatic source explaining that the dialogue is “designed to keep pace with the changes in the region and the world, and the potential return of Iran to the international community.”

Another Kuwaiti newspaper, Al-Anbaa, also noted that “relations between Hezbollah and the U.S. are developing positively.” The paper cited Lebanese opposition sources in support of this assertion.

The desire for dialogue with Hezbollah seems to be the latest manifestation of the Obama’s administration’s odd ambition to act against allies and appease obvious and declared enemies in the Middle East. It will not end well.

Obamacare Could Force Thousands Of Volunteer Fire Departments To Close

Volunteer fire departments all across the U.S. could find themselves out of money and unable to operate unless Congress or the Obama Administration exempts them from the Affordable Care Act.

‘I thought the kinks were worked out of Obamacare at the first of the month, Central Florida volunteer firefighter Carl Fabrizi told Sunshine State News. ‘Man, oh, man, this could potentially destroy some real good companies in Florida.’

Americans who are buying insurance plans over online exchanges, under what is known as Obamacare, will have limited access to some of the nation’s leading hospitals, including two world-renowned cancer centers.

Amid a drive by insurers to limit costs, the majority of insurance plans being sold on the new healthcare exchanges in New York, Texas, and California, for example, will not offer patients’ access to Memorial Sloan Kettering in Manhattan or MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, two top cancer centres, or Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, one of the top research and teaching hospitals in the country.

Experts say the move by insurers to limit consumers’ choices and steer them away from hospitals that are considered too expensive, or even “inefficient”, reflects the new competitive landscape in the insurance industry since the passage of the Affordable Care Act, Barack Obama’s 2010 healthcare law.

It could become another source of political controversy for the Obama administration next year, when the plans take effect. Frustrated consumers could then begin to realize what is not always evident when buying a product as complicated as healthcare insurance: that their new plans do not cover many facilities or doctors “in network”. In other words, the facilities and doctors are not among the list of approved providers in a certain plan.

Under some US health insurance plans, consumers can elect to visit medical facilities that are “out of network”, but they would probably incur high out of pocket costs and may need referrals to prove that such care is medically necessary.

Another ObamaCare Lie: Protecting Those With Pre-Existing Conditions

Another ObamaCare Lie: Protecting Those With Pre-Existing Conditions

Source

By BETSY MCCAUGHEY

The Affordable Care Act gets curioser and curioser. President Obama promised to protect people with pre-existing conditions and help the uninsured.

Yet these vulnerable groups are getting clobbered. Congress needs to act to protect them and not wait until the entire misadventure plays out.

The people most threatened by ObamaCare have pre-existing conditions, meaning health problems that make it hard to get insurance. To sell ObamaCare, the president actually lied, claiming he would protect these people.

He even lied that his mother, Anne Dunham, a cancer victim, suffered because her insurer used the pre-existing condition excuse to drop her. The truth, revealed in a 2011 biography, is she had employer-provided insurance which paid her hospital bills until the end of her life.

Since 1996, employer-provided plans have been barred from dropping or excluding anyone based on a pre-existing condition. Nor does Medicare or Medicaid.

The pre-existing conditions problem affects about 2 million people in the individual market. The best options for these sick people are being closed because of ObamaCare.

In 35 states, they currently get coverage through high-risk pools, where premiums are subsidized to help keep them within reach. Most of these pools have long waiting lists.

But high-risk pools must close on Dec. 31, 2013, or shortly after, because the Affordable Care Act directs ill patients to enroll in ObamaCare exchange plans.

The problem is, most exchange plans severely limit their choice of hospitals and doctors, excluding academic hospitals and specialty cancer centers. State insurance commissioners are scrambling to delay closing the high-risk pools.

The high-risk pools are an honest way to subsidize care for the sick, and they've worked for twenty-five years. ObamaCare replaces them with a devious method — luring young, healthy people into exchange plans at premiums far higher than their own cost of care to offset the cost of the sick in the same pool. Exchange plans are a rip-off for the young and a dangerous downgrade for the sick.

The uninsured — the group the president claimed his law was enacted to help — also are left out in the cold. According to the Congressional Budget Office and the American Enterprise Institute, at least half of those who lose coverage gain it again within 12 months, generally because of a new job.

Insanity!!! Obama AGAIN Second Time Wants to Extend Unemployment Benefits “One of Most Effective Ways to Boost Economy” (Video)

In his Weekly Address Barack Obama pushed the idea that extending unemployment benefits is “one of the most effective ways to boost the economy.”

Obama’s Weekly Address:

If Congress refuses to act, it won’t just hurt families already struggling – it will actually harm our economy. Unemployment insurance is one of the most effective ways there is to boost our economy. When people have money to spend on basic necessities, that means more customers for our businesses and, ultimately, more jobs. And the evidence shows that unemployment insurance doesn’t stop people from trying hard to find work.

Just this week, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office predicted that allowing benefits to expire will be a drag on our economic growth next year. A report by the Department of Labor and my Council of Economic Advisors estimated that it could cost businesses 240,000 jobs. And without the ability to feed their families or pay the bills, many people currently looking for work could stop looking for good.

Nancy Pelosi went a step further and said extending unemployment benefits will create 600,000 jobs.
Good grief.

Good!!!! Liberated US Tourist, Held Captive in North Korea, Declines Ride Home With Joe Biden

85 year-old Merrill Newman, a war veteran, declined a ride home on Air Force Two with Joe Biden.

An 85-year-old U.S. tourist detained in North Korea for six weeks for alleged ‘war crimes’ has landed back in San Francisco after catching a flight from Beijing.

North Korean state media said Saturday that Merrill Newman, a war veteran, was released because he had apologized for his alleged crimes during the Korean War and because of his age and medical condition.

Speaking after arriving at San Francisco International Airport, Mr Newman said he was glad to be back home and thanked U.S. and Swedish diplomats who worked to secure his release.

‘I’d like to thank the Swedish Embassy and the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. It was a great homecoming! I’m tired, pleased to be with my family. Thank you for all the support we’ve had.’

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, who is traveling in Seoul, welcomed the release and said he talked by phone with Newman in Beijing, offering him a ride home on Air Force Two. Biden said Newman declined because of a direct flight to his home state of California, which he took later Saturday.

Newman’s son, Jeffrey, said he spoke briefly with his father from Beijing and that he was ‘in excellent spirits and eager to be reunited with his family.’

Iran Publicly Refuses To Recognize Israel At The U.N.

Iran publicly refused to recognize “the Israeli regime” during a full meeting on Thursday of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The move appeared to stun not a single onlooker at the United Nations, but prompted a sharp response from Israel’s ambassador to the U.N.

During the opening moments of the 68th UNGA’s 60th plenary meeting, Iran’s representative took the floor to reiterate her country’s distaste for the Jewish state.

The UNGA meeting was held to mark a procedural—and typically uneventful—vote in which nations meet to approve the credentials of various U.N. member states.

While Iran, like every other nation, voted in favor of the measure, its representative sought to explain that its support should not be interpreted as recognition of Israel.

“We would like to reiterate my government’s position that our support for this document should be in no way be considered as the recognition of the Israeli regime,” Iran’s representative said. “I wish my statement in this regard to be recorded and registered in the final recording of this meeting.”

Obama to rule to allow wind farms it is OK to KILL golden and bald eagles for the next 30 more years

Obama to rule to allow wind farms it is OK to KILL golden and bald eagles for the next 30 more years

The Obama administration is about to approve a rule that will ensure the death of golden and bald eagles for the next 30 more years.

Hundreds of thousands of birds die each year flying into the deadly turbine blades atop the soaring towers that compose wind farms. The rule will give wind farms thirty year permits for the “non purposeful take of eagles-that is where the take is associated with but not the purpose of, the activity.’’ The take of eagles is also a euphemism for the slaughter of them.

The wind farms fulfill Obama’s ambitious pursuit of developing renewable energy sources. Unfortunately, some bird species being destroyed by the turbines are not renewable. As a result, Obama finds himself wedged between the ire of opposing green groups. In July, wildlife groups met with administration officials and lobbied against the granting of 30 year permits for energy companies that own the wind farms.

Wildlife groups are advocating shorter leases and insist that a 30-year free pass for eagle “taking” is too long. They argue that before we are stuck with three decades of the rule, there are still some unanswered questions about how to prevent the destroying of the birds. Julie Falkner, the Defenders of Wildlife’s Senior Director of Renewable Energy Programs pondered, “The question is what is the science telling us about how to prevent eagle takings, and we’re still waiting for the science to tell us how that works.”

On Crossfire panel, it was former Dem Gov. Jennifer Granholm, David Madland from the Center for American Progress vs. Nancy Pfotenhauer who is a Republican strategist. Many will remember her from the 2008 McCain campaign, she was senior policy advisor and campaign spokesman.

They begin discussing today's job numbers and the 203K new jobs created in November. Pfotenhouer fires back at everybody, pointing out that you need to have 150K jobs created every month just to keep up with the population increase. But the most important factor is the labor force participation rate. People are simply giving up on looking for work.

Sen. Ted Cruz: Obama disregards the law like in ‘dictatorial societies’

Ted Cruz: Obama disregards the law like in ‘dictatorial societies’

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz said that President Barack Obama disregards the law and behaves like the leader of “dictatorial societies.”

The conservative senator, who proudly calls himself a “Wacko Bird” to poke fun at establishment Republican criticisms of him, appeared on Fusion TV’s “America with Jorge Ramos” to accuse the president of outright law-breaking — on his own health-care law.

“One of the most disturbing aspects of the Obama presidency is the willingness of this president to disregard the law, to ignore the law,” Cruz said.

“He unilaterally granted an [Obamacare] exemption for big business for one year. The law says big business doesn’t get an exemption and the president just waved his hand and said, ‘I am granting them an exemption.’ He unilaterally granted an exemption for members of Congress. The law says that members Congress have to be on the exchange without subsidies, just like millions of Americans. The president just waved his hand and said, ‘Ignore that part of the law, I don’t want to enforce it,’” Cruz explained.

Cruz specifically said that Obama’s current attempt to try to get health-insurance companies to cover canceled plans for another year is yet another example of Obama ignoring the negative parts of his own law.

“A president under a constitutional system doesn’t have the ability to pick and choose which laws to follow. And that’s the same pattern you see in dictatorial societies, where a leader says, ‘Ignore the law, go with the power of the president instead of the written law.’ That’s not the way our constitution is supposed to work,” Cruz said.

Cruz is good man and he truly loves America. He is very smart and also does great at handling those that have attacked him.

The Media's Lying About ObamaCare Enrollment Numbers

The Media's Lying About ObamaCare Enrollment Numbers

If you have "enrolled" in something, that means you have "obtained" it, and if you have not yet paid for your health insurance, you are not insured or enrolled. This isn't a debatable point among the intellectually honest, and yet this truth hasn't stopped many in the mainstream media from assuming their natural position of joining a White House propaganda push -- which in this case is to artificially inflate news of public demand for ObamaCare.

Last month, the Obama administration itself admitted it was going to change the definition of "enrollee" into something it is not. “In the data that will be released … ‘enrollment’ will measure people who have filled out an application and selected a qualified health plan in the marketplace,” a source told The Washington Post. Which is the kind of dishonesty we expect from President You-Can-Keep-Your-Insurance.

A legitimate and honest news media, however, would not blindly play along. And yet, among others, NBC News, Politico, and Reuters have eagerly engaged in the anti-science art of screaming good news about ObamaCare "enrollment" in their headlines.

But the headlines are a lie. The numbers being breathlessly reported are not enrollments, these are people who have only gone so far as to put an item in a shopping cart by, or as the Administration itself put it, "selected a qualified health plan in the marketplace."

Selected is not enrollment any more than black is white.

For some context about just how far the media is going to carry the Administration's water and mislead the public the public, studies show that more than two-thirds of online shoppers do not follow through with a purchase after placing an item in a shopping cart.

Moreover, the media are not even demanding or putting public pressure on the Administration to release the real enrollment figures. If you'll pardon the mixed metaphor, our stenographers to power are instead panting at the feet of President Obama looking for a forgiving pat on the head.

Worse still, even as the media lies about the number of ObamaCare enrollments, the media is reporting on the fact that the backend of ObamaCare, including the part that pays insurance providers and sees to it that they get the right customer enrollment information, is an unmitigated disaster.

One insurance provider, Physicians Health Plan of Northern Indiana, reports that they have received payment from only 20% of applicants. How much of that 80% is due to people abandoning their shopping carts and will never pay, and how much is due to a Potemkin website that can't follow through on what the front end promises to deliver?

And yet our unbiased, objective, not-at-all liberal media is falsely reporting that those 80% are enrolled, when they are not.

But what else should we expect from a media that spent 3 years covering up the ugly truths about ObamaCare because they were too busy investigating Ann Romney's horse, Mitt Romney's 50 year-old pranks, and a racist rock painted over 25 years ago found on a property not owned by Rick Perry.

The media have absolutely no idea how many people have enrolled for ObamaCare, and like good dogs, they apparently don't want to know.

Wild Thing's comment............

Not surprised, why or why can't people stop telling lies. Enough is enough sheesh.

Ted Cruz: Obama "Picking And Choosing Which Laws To Follow" Is "Dictatorial"

SEN. TED CRUZ (R-TX): One of the most disturbing aspects of the Obama presidency is the willingness of this president to disregard the law, to ignore the law. You know, we were talking a few minutes ago about Obamacare. And you mentioned it’s the law of the land. If it’s the law of the land, the president shouldn't keep ignoring the law.

He unilaterally granted an exemption for big business for one year. The law says big business doesn't get an exemption and the president just waved his hand and said, “I am granting them an exemption.” He unilaterally granted an exemption for members of Congress. The law says that members Congress have to be on the exchange without subsidies just like millions of Americans. The president just waved his hand and said, “Ignore that part of the law, I don't want to enforce it.”

And as you noted, when people started getting dismayed that his promise, “If you like your plan, you can keep it,” was demonstrated to be false, he told insurance, “Well, ignore that part of the law for one year.”

A president under a constitutional system doesn't have the ability to pick and choose which laws to follow. And that's the same pattern you see in dictatorial societies, where a leader says, “Ignore the law, go with the power of the president instead of the written law.” That's not the way our constitution is supposed to work.

Must see Video! Prof. Turley Sounds the Alarm on Barack Obama’s Disregard for Constitutional Limitations: “You have the Rise of an Uber-Presidency. There could be No Greater Danger for Individual Liberty.”

Professor Jonathan Turley Sounds the Alarm on Barack Obama’s Disregard for Constitutional Limitations: “You have the Rise of an Uber-Presidency. There could be No Greater Danger for Individual Liberty.” ... the entire video is excellent but if you only want to see this quote portion just go to 5:01 on the video.

Congressman Steve King questioned witnesses at a House Judiciary Committee on December 3, 2013 about the President's Constitutional Duty to Faithfully Execute the Laws.

This gets to the heart of what we are dealing with in President Barack Obama.

At the House Judiciary Hearing today on the President’s refusal to recognize the Constitutional limitations placed upon him, Rep. Steve King cuts to the chase and poses questions to a panel about where we are with a President who does not respect the U.S. Constitution. At the 4:56 mark, King asks Constitutional Law Professor Jonathan Turley where we are today, and his response was sobering, indeed:

“I have great trepidation of where we are headed, because we are creating a new system here – something that is not what was designed. . . . Within that system, you have the rise of an Uber-Presidency. There could be no greater danger for individual liberty. I really think that the Framers would be horrified by that shift, because everything they dedicated themselves to was creating political balance – and we’ve lost it.”

Only when Americans use their votes to say, “Enough!”, and elect people who love and respect the U.S. Constitution will this balance return to what it ought to be. Barack Obama came from associations with Leftist Radicals – it was plain as the nose on your face from the first days of his 2007-2008 Presidential run. He is behaving as President consistent with what all those signals and signs said he would do. But now many are just waking up to how radical he truly is. The 2014 Midterms will be the first real opportunity for Americans to speak up and say, “Enough!” A message loud and true needs to be sent to Barack Obama, that Americans want their country back – their freedom back.

Wild Thing's comment.............

Love how Congressman Steve King questions, excellent.

Cybersecurity Expert: Amazon Would Be a "10" on Security, Healthcare.gov is a 1 or 2..."Stay Away From It" [Audio]

David Kennedy, a former NSA analyst and CEO of TrustedSec is hired by big companies to test the security of their computer systems. In an interview this afternoon on the Sean Hannity radio program he gives the healthcare.gov website a rating of 1 or 2 in terms of security. He warns people not to go onto the website because it is simply not safe.

"I'd say stay away from it"..."What we found was the basic things weren't even addressed"..."We're finding this without even touching the website, what really lies underneath is the real concerning part"

Expert: Healthcare.gov Security Risks Even Worse After ‘Fix’

Obamacare website more vulnerable to security breaches

“It doesn’t appear that any security fixes were done at all,” David Kennedy, CEO of the online security firm TrustedSec, told the Washington Free Beacon.

Kennedy said fundamental safeguards missing from Healthcare.gov that were identified by his company more than a month ago have yet to be put in place.

“There are a number of security concerns already with the website, and that’s without even actually hacking the site, that’s just a purely passive analysis of [it],” he said. “We found a number of critical exposures that were around sensitive information, the ability to hack into the site, things like that. We reported those issues and none of those appear to have been addressed at all.”

After warning Americans when testifying before Congress on Nov. 19 to stay away from Healthcare.gov, Kennedy now says the situation is even worse.

“They said they implemented over 400 bug fixes,” he said. “When you recode the application to fix these 400 bugs—they were rushing this out of the door to get the site at least so it can work a little bit—you’re introducing more security flaws as you go along with it because you don’t even check that code.”

“I’m a little bit more skeptical now, and I would still definitely advise individuals to not use the website because it’s definitely something that I don’t believe is secure and neither did the four individuals that testified in front of Congress,” Kennedy said. “I think there’s some major security concerns there around privacy and information, and they haven’t even come close to being addressed, and won’t be in the short term.”

Cost of Obamacare website...1 Billion…BEFORE Oct. 1, Not Counting Money Thrown Into “Fixes” Since Then

Analysis Finds Cost of Obamacare Website Is Way More Than Anyone Predicted

The to-date cost of the glitchy Obamacare website has topped $1 billion, easily surpassing the $394 million originally estimated by the Government Accountability Office, according to a Bloomberg Government analysis.

It’s important to note that the Bloomberg analysis runs through Sept. 30, just before the 16-day partial government shutdown. So the final cost may be more than $1 billion.

Perhaps more shocking than the site’s likely price tag is the fact that roughly one-third of that amount was spent on contracts awarded in the six months leading up to the site’s disastrous Oct. 1 launch – when those at the top were reportedly aware of the site’s many problems.

Obama's Pentagon to Close Military commissaries in cost-saving plan

The Obama administration is looking at closing all US-based commissaries that serve poor military families. The move will not only eliminate the discounted goods but will also result in lost jobs for many military families.

The Pentagon is floating a controversial plan to close all U.S.-based commissaries in 2015 as part of a massive cost-saving effort after more than a decade of war.

The commissaries are grocery stores that offer food and other necessities at a discount to members of the military, their families and veterans. But as Congress tightens the purse strings, the stores could get caught in the budget battle.

Budget cutters say they don’t yet know how much money the plan would save, but there are 178 commissaries in the United States — and 70 overseas — which receive a total of $1.4 billion in government funds.

The Defense Commissary Agency, responsible for administering all commissaries worldwide, says military families and retirees save an average of more than 30 percent on their grocery bills compared with those who shop at regular retail stores. The agency says those savings amount to thousands of dollars annually per family.

But families could also lose jobs if the stores close. Thirty percent of the employees at the commissaries are military spouses. The director of the Defense Commissary Agency says that they have already cut their budget by $700 million since 1993.

CBS Report Reveals Obama’s DOJ Tried To Block The Fast And Furious Whistleblower Book

CBS did an interview with John Dodson—an ATF whistleblower on Fast and Furious. Dodson recently wrote a book titled ‘The Unarmed Truth: My Fight to Blow the Whistle and Expose Fast and Furious’.

At the 1:50 minute marker of the interview segment, Dodson explains that Obama’s Department of Justice tried to block the book from being published. Emperor Obama agreed to “allow” the book to be published as long as Dodson doesn’t receive profits from the book. Dodson is determined to publish the book with or without compensation.

In a free nation with guaranteed Freedom of Speech, who is Obama to dictate what can and cannot be published, or when people can and cannot profit?

It is outrageous that Obama’s Administration interfere with either the free speech aspect or the profit aspect of a man who may be out of a job due to his brave efforts as a whistleblower. On the topic of ‘profit’—it is not to be demonized as Liberals believe it should be. A reminder of the true story of Thanksgiving as a perfect example of what this nation was built upon. Insurance Companies say ObamaCare site producing flawed forms

Insurance companies say ObamaCare site producing flawed forms

FOX News

So you think you've succeeded in making it through the ObamaCare website maze, and now you have health insurance? You might want to think again.

Despite the Obama administration's claim that HealthCare.gov is "vastly improved," insurance companies are still grappling with error-riddled files fed to them from the flawed website. The lingering glitch could cause major problems weeks down the road, resulting in people thinking they've signed up when insurance companies have no record of them doing so.

These so-called "back-end" problems were largely glossed over when federal health officials confidently claimed over the weekend they had met their own goals for improving the website by Dec. 1.

Administration officials said early Sunday that they have fixed roughly 400 computer "bugs" and increased capacity so the site can now handle more than 800,000 users daily with an error rate of less than 1 percent. Jeff Zients, the official appointed to fix the ObamaCare site since its disastrous Oct. 1 rollout, said it is "night and day from what it was."

But insurers continue to deal with the same set of problems that have shaken their confidence for weeks in the system they have to rely on to enroll new customers.

"Until the enrollment process is working from end-to-end, many consumers will not be able to enroll in coverage," Karen Ignagni, president of America's Health Insurance Plans, said in a statement.

She said "significant 'back-end' issues'" need to be addressed, and particularly the "ongoing problems" processing enrollment files known as "834 files."

These are forms that give insurance companies basic information about would-be customers.

But they've had problems for weeks. AHIP spokesman Robert Zirkelbach told FoxNews.com that companies are receiving duplicative and inaccurate forms, and "in some cases, plans are not getting the enrollment files at all."

Getting that fixed, he said, is "critical."

The New York Times reports that companies are getting flooded with phone calls from people who think they've signed up -- though they're not on record as having done so.

The ongoing problems mean that people who believe they have a health plan could be in for a surprise on Jan. 1.

The White House is omitting key facts about the nuclear deal signed with Iran, which makes a number of important concessions to the Islamic Republic, The Washington Post argued in its editorial Friday.

Sunday’s accord is a six-month agreement with an option to extend, meant to limit the Iranian nuclear program as the P5+1 – the US, UK, Russia, China, France and Germany – try to hammer out a comprehensive accord with Iran. In return, Iran received some sanctions relief.

While Iran has agreed to cap uranium enrichment and delay completion of the Arak heavy-water reactor during the interim, six-month negotiation period, the text of the deal says that the final agreement will involve “a mutually defined enrichment program with mutually agreed parameters.”

In other words, according to the Post’s Editorial Board, “the United States and its partners have already agreed that Iranian enrichment activity will continue indefinitely. In contrast, a long-standing US demand that an underground enrichment facility be closed is not mentioned.”

Anti-Semitic Obama Regime Calls Netanyahu “Desperate And Weak”

Obama Regime Calls Netanyahu “Desperate And Weak”…

Senior officials in the White House have said that Israel Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu “is desperate and weak,” in reaction to Netanyahu’s remonstrations against the deal struck with Iran over its nuclear weapons program.

Israeli television Channel 10quoted the officials as saying “His pronouncements show a lack of self-confidence,” in an unusually harsh personal attack on Netanyahu. “We are not perturbed by his vocal opposition.”

Netanyahu was also raked over the coals Sunday by the man he replaced in the prime minister’s bureau, Ehud Olmert, who accused him of bringing relations with the US to an “unprecedented” low point. However Netanyahu is showing no sign of flagging in his campaign against thepolicies of the US and the other P5+1 powers.

“As the prime minister of Israel, I warn time and time again of the dangers that are related to the Iranian nuclear program,” he added. “When I see a danger to the citizens of Israel I will not remain silent.”

Hamid Karzai Knows Obama is an Idiot! Hamid Karzai Plays Strong Hand Against Him In Negoations

Hamid Karzai playing strong hand against Obama in security negotiations

The Obama administration continues to get played in crucial national security negotiations by Afghanistan’s president Hamid Karzai.

The accidental killing last week of a 2-year old civilian in a U.S. airstrike, which Karzai condemned, has given the Afghan leader even more leverage in his negotiations over U.S. troop withdrawals.

The U.S. wants to be able to keep up to 10,000 troops in Afghanistan after its withdrawal at the end of 2014, but Karzai is stalling on the negotiations. Though senior elders want Karzai to sign the security agreement, Karzai does not appear prepared to accept the U.S. terms, and the Obama administration is “losing confidence” in him. Susan Rice talked to him last Monday in Kabul, but Karzai didn’t budge.

Without a deal, the Obama administration will withdraw completely at the end of 2014 the way it did previously in Iraq — a move that has been blamed for recent violence in the country.

Iranian Official: America Cannot Be Trusted And Israel Must Be Wiped Off The Face Of The Earth

Iranian Official: America Cannot Be Trusted And Israel Must Be Wiped Off The Face Of The Earth

In the wake of news that Israel will send a delegation to Washington, D.C. to influence the Obama administration’s international negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program, the Islamic Republic is stepping up its attacks on the Jewish state.

“This vicious temperament of dogs and pigs is you (Israel),” said Ayatollah Mohammad Imami Kashani, a member of the Assembly of Experts, the body that appoints the supreme leader, at Tehran’s interim Friday prayer. “The Quran has marked on your foreheads that you will be humiliated. The Zionist officials are like animals, and truly as rogue thugs they do whatever they want, killing people, creating bloodshed and destroying whatever they want.”

Kashani said at this week’s Friday prayers sermon in Tehran that whenever Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appears on television, “all of the world hates you. You are hated, humiliated and despicable and,” the ayatollah added in a putrid insult to make to a Jew, “have been immersed in the flesh of rabid dogs and pigs.”

Kashani also had harsh words for the Obama administration: “Nations of the world are the enemies of the Zionists and (America’s support of Israel) will have you share the misery of the Zionists.”

Communist Dictator Obama On Obamacare: This Is “Going To Be A Legacy I Am Extraordinarily Proud of”

Obama On Obamacare: This Is “Going To Be A Legacy I Am Extraordinarily Proud of”…

CNN

The glitches aside, Obama remained confident the Affordable Care Act, passed along party lines in 2010, would form a large part of his presidential legacy.

“I continue to believe and I’m absolutely convinced that, at the end of the day, people are going to look back at the work we’ve done to make sure that in this country, you don’t go bankrupt when you get sick, that families have that security,” Obama told Walters. “That is going be a legacy I am extraordinarily proud of.”

That legacy – and what can be done while he’s still in office to bolster it – does weigh on the president’s mind, he admitted.

“Every president in their second term is mindful that you’ve only got a limited amount of time left,” Obama said. “You want to make sure that you are squeezing every last ounce of energy that you have to try to deliver on the commitments you made to the American people.”
