The Straw That Broke The Camels Back

The Straw That Broke The Camels Back

By Angry Old Salt

When I was 10 years old, I fell in love with Lionel Electric Trains. Just weeks before Christmas, and my birthday, which was two days later, I begged my Father to get me those trains for Christmas. My Father who was working three jobs during WW11. (wholesale banana business for small grocery stores in Staten Island, New York, his pool hall where Willie Mosconi played winning three straight games from my Dad, and at night he worked for Bethlehem Steel as a machinist.)

Every day I would bug him about the electric trains while he was trying to take a nap. After a week of this bugging my Dad, he put the box of Lionel Trains on my bed. Then I didn’t want them because I realized what an asshole I was.

George Bush took all the bullshit talk, the UN sanctions and the constant media jabbering. While he wanted the countries of the world to get together and stop Saddam from atrocities of his own people and development of WMD’s.

Years had passed with nothing done but bullshit talk from the UN, our media and THE CLINTON ADMINISTRATION!

George Bush took a giant step and we did tremendous damage to the Taliban. And since we had gazillion troops in the area, why not take out Saddam now? President Bush did what the phony UN and Clinton administration would not do. Mission accomplished!

We stayed there to help the Iraqi people. Because we didn’t have the balls to annihilate the Republican Guard!

My God the Democrats wouldn’t allow that! So we let the Republican Guard go to please the bleeding hearts of the world.

Then the UN came in and got a hot foot and left. Only a few Nations stayed with us as you all know.

GW Bush has kept this protection-armed force there to keep the Iraqi people safe while they are setting up their government.

The negative Democrats and the media picadors kept jabbing and jabbing at President Bush always bringing up how many of our troops died.

Now the Saudi king sticks a saber in Bush’s back.

What the Hell!

Veto BOTH bills of Senate and the House!

And then just listen with hand on ear to the assholes, you know who I mean.

I would say to the Congress and those in the Senate, you want them home? OK, but not on your time frame. Maybe they are sick all this crap you are dishing out too, did you ever think about that? I could care less about the Iraqis! I care about our troops and what you are doing to them.

Yes, my Dad did the right thing.

AOS:

The Lionel the Democrats want is a political triumph to crow about for another thirty years.

They'll have it, but not for long. We won't have another thirty years of the kind they expect to have, which is a prolonged period of relative peace with the opportunity to wallow in the fantasies of liberalism. We don't have ten years, much less thirty.

They have no plans for the future which include the realities of Islamic radicalism, either. Everyone knows it; the only difference among us is that some of us care about the dank, dangerous void at the center of liberalism and others don't. Some of us know that a war is underway, that Iraq is only a skirmish, and the outcome sought is not a cheering victory, but some manageable condition that favors our side rather than the enemy's. To NOT know this is willful blindness, and it's the current impairment of the Democrat Party.

The Democrat Party is a product of the moral devolution and regression of liberalism; no one like Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid could have existed in the party even twenty years ago. American politics is an open sore, with an infection spreading from the Democrat Party to people of good will who imagine that the Democrats care about the objective world, about peace, about American security and about common decency in government. It's a siren song, and just as dangerous.

The "caring" of modern liberals is dominated now by pity and self-pity, and by infantile rage that the world has moved permanently beyond the moods and mindsets of Western liberalism. What we're seeing now is a temper tantrum that is only party due to the Iraq War. They want their train. But the Muslim world is slipping into chaos, for reasons that have little to do with Iraq and everything to do with sectarianism. The Shi'a and the Sunni will have their day at each other before long, the death toll will be staggering, and whichever one of them prevails will then seek to extend its influence in The West. Iraq is a demonstration that America has the will to fight on their battlefield, and that we will not tolerate their efforts here. If we run away, they'll have the correct understanding of who we are.

There are no parties anymore that make political sense. There is only the long battle ahead with Islamism for everyone; of every race and creed in The West who still believe that the long and arduous road from barbarism to civilization should reach into the future, and not be abandoned for the wilderness and jungles to the left and right. The Democrats have decided that organized lying about this reality will reassert their relevance, and the jungles then will be their home. I don't intend to follow them. I'll die on the road, and so will my wife and three sons. However much is given away by liberalism, we will take back our piece in blood, sweat and tears...to steal a phrase from the man we need now.

Good evaluation Rhod!

I believe we are fighting three wars. All are wars on the successful culture America developed in the 19th and 20 Centuries.

The first war is against the creep of socialism. The Democratic Party is the invading army of socialist thought and programs. Socialism is the disease that has weakened Europe and made it vulnerable to other invading diseases.

The second war is with the invading army of illegal and legal over-immigration. This is straining our infrastructure and challenging our successful, unique culture. The socialist Democrats enjoy this immigration as it attacks the republic style government and also feeds the socialist agenda of a nanny government.

The third war is the war against islam, the intolerant religion. It is in part an actual, but very limited, shooting war. It's members are an active part of the other two wars. Our leadership has not addressed this war as a total war. They even fail to accurately label the enemy, preferring the generic term "terrorists".

All three of these wars can be compared to a train. A runaway train rushing downhill toward a center of population. These three wars are taking place on our sacred home soil.

I still believe the average American is not an ally of any of these three enemies. But, thru dishonest and weak leadership, and pressure by selfish special interest groups, we are in a political civil type war. A fourth war.

All of these wars can be won, but I think two events have to occur. One is for the average American to realize what is going on and become pro-active. The other event would be to somehow get great leadership. Leadership like the men who wrote the Constitution and signed the Declaration of Independence. Leadership like the men and women who led the westward movement that settled and built the greatest nation on Earth.

Thank you, my friends. None better than both of you, too.

Tom, you've described three opportunistic diseases in your three wars, three pathogens availing themselves of a lowered immunity.

They breed where they find a lack of will to resist, especially Islamism and socialism which are linked in their authoritarianism, and are finding a common cause in the destruction of open societies.

Western culture is the adhesive that holds the entire Western and non-Western worlds together, because of finance, food production, law, technology, weapons development, military alliances of varying seriousness, and much more, plus the stated will to defend it.

If we fail to win the wars you mention, the replacements won't be Islam, socialism, crazy multiculturalism or the dominance of one American political party, it will be dizzying chaos and blood-letting on an unimaginable scale. I believe the world we know will, effectively, fall apart.

There isn't a single Democrat with the brainpower to understand this.

AOS, great analogy. Sometimes giving the mendacious leftists what they want would be a sobering example of their puerility.
Tincan Sailor you are so right, George Bush is the only one on Capitol Hill who has consistently defended this country while the rest waffle over being popular to the public and the Democrats. Rhod and Tom have distilled the essence of the problem Bush faces.
While I disagree with Bush's domestic policy he is spot on as to whom, what and where the external enemy is, and he steadfastly opposes them. It's the enemy within that's the real danger.
I often wonder what the feckless Democrats here and Socialists around the world would do if Bush ordered all the troops home from all foreign countries and strategically placed them along the borders with the sole exception of California that doesn't want any part of national security anyway and prefers that offered by Felipe Calderón. Let them all get a taste of freedom provided by their august body of rogue governments, the UN. Of course they'd howl about isolationism but it would be clear to all who is doing the protecting and by whom.
While I applaud Blair's support and that of their military in the WOT what will Tony do, pull out now that there are Naval hostages in Iran? The UK is currently basking under superb U.N. intervention in their Iranian crisis, but what is the leverage they have when their best weapon is the United States? Is a total pullout possible, ask the Philippines!!!

I was listening to Sean Hannity yesterday and he had Senator McCain on. I'm not a fan of McCain but he said something that hit home like a ton of bricks. He said that when we lost Vietnam, we didn't worry about them following us home but if we loose Iraq, they will follow us home. Thing is, they're already here, just waiting till it's time.

Jack raises a fascinating question. What would happen without a complete withdrawl from the US around the world? Stranger things have happened in history. The British effectively ended their colonial administration in the '50's, and the inability of the majority of the former colonies to manage their own affairs is there for everyone to see.

I admit I'm tempted to Buchananism, because I could get used to watching the rest of the freaking world, the regions who criticise and taunt and steal from us relentlessly, tearing themselves apart. Savage idea? It would take massive economic adjustments, but we'd survive and they wouldn't

"...WITH a complete withdrawl", not "without a complete withdrawl".

Thanks Rhod. Great comment, I have been just about ready to explode, so Chrissie said, write it down and we can put it at the blog. It helped to a certain degree to do that.

I wish I was a good at wording things as you are and others on here.

Jack thanks, I am not the best at writing down how I feel. My way is better at yelling at the TV. LOL

Tincan Sailor, there are things about Bush I would be happy to change, but the one thing he has done is not want to give up too soon and slap our guys in the face. I wanted Clinton to respond way back when we were attacked so many times and he did nothing. I give Bush credit for that.

We can't give up, if we do, we might as well throw in the towell on all we have stood for, not only to the world but to ourselves as a Nation. I won't ever go for that, I may die defending my beliefs in our freedom but I would do that gladly.

Tom I think we can win all those wars you write about. My gut tells me we can and we will, we have to. This is just a time in the life of America that will be a turning point as to how these wars will be fought and won.

The reason I said my Dad did the right thing is because it taught me a much needed lessen at the time. I don't want Bush to teach the Democrats that lessen, I want him to Veto the bills, stay strong and only bring them home when it is time and not one day before.

Bob I missed that show last night. They are here like you said, hell Florida is jam packed with them especially an hour from us up in Tampa.

Posted by: Angry Old Salt at March 30, 2007 04:52 PM

Rhod I have been thinking that too, there are no parties anymore that make sense. I will hang in there but damn I am pissed off. I wish I was younger and could do some fighting back myself. Maybe that would make me feel better, action and not just words.

LOL my nephews see me coming and it is here comes Unlce Nick to tell us again how important this war is to survival. But they are listening so maybe I am getting through to them.

Patrick Buchanan would be a superb United States president! Twenty years ago he said to build a wall along the Southern borders and the elite media called him a racist? If the Defeatocrats move into the White House next year, we are doomed, and our enemies know this fact, especially the Iraniacs and Islamomaniacs!
