Border Control Policy From The Bizarro World

Texas cop faces prison after shooting at illegals' van

SGT NEWS - Texas police officer Gilmer Hernandez sits in a federal prison in Del Rio County, Texas for the crime of shooting at the rear tires of a van after the driver attempted to run the officer over. The catch is the van was filled with illegal immigrants.

Reports from WorldNetDaily indicate the federal government recommends seven years in prison for violating the civil rights of the occupants of the van. A fragment of the bullet hit a woman passenger in the mouth, breaking two of her teach and cutting her lip.

Hernandez’s attorney, Jimmy Parks, has described his client as "terrified'. "If the judge sends him to prison," says Parks, "he will spend every day of the next several years trying to protect himself from the very people he dedicated his life to protect us from."

Parks continued:

"Gilmer worked diligently and assiduously to put criminals away, to take people who were committing dangerous crimes away, to assure that they are placed behind bars to protect us and to rehabilitate them, and now all of a sudden Gilmer is facing a time where he will be locked up in a cage with these criminals and he knows they are ready and prepared to retaliate and seek their vengeance."

The recent case of Ramos and Compean, the border patrol agents sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for shooting an illegal drug smuggler on the United States/Mexican border, sets a frightening precedent of how lazy, inactive and downright neglectful our nation is becoming in the fight to protect our nation’s borders and control illegal immigration.

Ramos was beaten in prison by 5 Hispanic inmates. Ramos said the inmates repeatedly kicked him with steel-toed boots and unloaded a verbal tirade of curses, spoken entirely in Spanish. The prison was forced to place Ramos in the Special Housing Unit of the prison until the investigation of the incident was completed.

In a society where police offers are looked at with increased scrutiny, especially when illegal immigrants are involved, this case further proves the priority of our federal government seems to lie more with the protection of the rights of illegal immigrants, rather than the protection of our national security.

Parks said the outpouring of support on Hernandez’s behalf from the small Texas community has been overwhelming.

Wild Thing's comment..........

Since when did illegal border invaders get civil rights? I thought those were reserved for American citizens. It seems our Constitution really doesn't matter much anymore. Could it be there is an effort underway to make being a border patrol officer such an unattractive profession to go into that there will be a need in the future, due to no border guards, to just throw open the gates and welcome out neighbors on in?

He shot at the vehicle when is was driving away, AFTER the driver attempted to run the police officer down. He has every right to stop a fleeing criminal with force if the criminal will not stop and submit to arrest. The illegal immigrant who was sneaking into our country will sue us for millions for her pain and suffering...That is, after we give her a mouth full of beautiful new veneers.

No wonder they love coming here..

Comments

I was called Friday evening by the Republican National Committee who was hoping to get me to renew my membership; yes, I'm a card carrying member of the Republican Party. When I told the representative that I wouldn't renew, or donate, as long as those Border Patrol agents are sitting in prison and Republican leaders are doing nothing to get them released, he started to go off on me. He said the agents are in prison because they broke the law. I told the individual that the agents shot an armed drug runner and his response was everybody has a right to defend themselves, meaning that the Mexican drug runner had a right to defend himself against the Border Patrol agents. That's when I lost it and yelled They were Border Patrol agents you fool and ended the conversation.

Their are other incidents of law enforce personnel who are being prosecuted by the Feds for using force to protect us against criminals and drug runners. When someone tries to run over a cop, that vehicle becomes a deadly weapon. It's apparent the government doesn't want border enforcement personnel to defend themselves. The fact that they sent the National Guard down their, unarmed, proves that.

As long as the RNC has this view of men who put their lives on the line to protect our borders, they won’t get another penny from me. It’s become apparent to me that the RNC is controlled by RINO’s and could care less what the Conservatives in American think. Who knows, maybe I’ll start voting Libertarian.

All for votes--both sides want the illegal immigrant vote so bad--but illegals can't vote!
Time for something to be done--that the border agents can't be held responsible for shooting at illegals. Isn't that their job? To keep the border safe? Give me a break and release these men and win the support of your people. Get some guts and brass cajones and tell those RINOs and liberal weiners to shut the (blank) up!

This border situation gets my anger boiling as much as the moslems do. We have a Jimmy Carter president when it comes to securing the border. I think Bush ought to be in prison for the crime of violating his oath of office to protect our country against foreign invaders.

It must be horribly nerve wracking to be a law enforcement officer along the border and wonder who will do you in first, an armed smuggler or a Federal prosecutor. And this John Sutton, appointed by Bush,is a zealot when it comes to attacking American law officers. This is an ass backward situation. Immunity for illegals and drug smugglers to testify against our own police officers is a crime unto itself.

The only good that can come out of this is if it arouses Americans enough to elect a real Conservative, America First Congress and President in '08, if such persons can be found.

And Lynn. Illegals supposedly can't vote right now, but many plans are in place in Congress, and from the White House, to get those illegals the right to vote.

One other item. There is a North American Union plan to basically eliminate the American borders with Mexico and Canada. I have read that George Bush endorses this plan and has signed on. There is already a massive transportation corridor slated to be built from Laredo, Texas to Canada for the flow of goods from all over the world(read China)to the US and Canada. Thousands of Americans will lose their private property thru eminent domain to this Trans Texas Corridor. A lot of politicians will make bundles of $$. I understand this highway is being built by Spanish contractors and that a major port in America will be owned/operated by Mexico.

I'm proud of you Bob, I gave the same message to the RNC all of last year, 14 months later they acknowledged that I was angry. Their response was to ask for more money, like you I lost it. Melquiades Rafael “Mel” Martinez, is a Cuban national appointed head of the RNC. Why? Because he supports and champions President Bush's open borders and amnesty for illegal aliens program. We are not getting the most bang for our bucks when the RNC supports RINO's over solid conservative values.

TomR, it's scary what they are proposing, the North American Union is very real the CFR has a document on it "At their meeting in Waco, Texas, at the end of March 2005,U.S. President George W. Bush, Mexican President Vicente Fox, and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin committed their governments to a path of cooperation and joint action.", please take the time to read it.
There are several states that have written legislation opposing the NAU, this is why Bush and the RNC are courting RINO's to get this passed by 2010.

I don't know what happened to my comment so I'll repeat it. I'm proud of you BobF, after 14 months of telling the RNC the same message they finally acknowledge that I was angry, their response, they want more money, that's when I lost it too. Bush appointee Mel Martinez is a Cuban National who sypmathizes with the Illegal Aliens and will rubber stamp the Bush policy along with supporting RINO's that do the same.

TomR, it's scary, the North American Union is a very real threat this
CFR publication spells it out.

An excerp from the article" At their meeting in Waco, Texas, at the end of March 2005, U.S. President George W. Bush, Mexican President Vicente Fox, and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin committed their governments to a path of cooperation and joint action." Doesn't Bush's position on the border make more sense now?

There are several states that have introduced legislation opposing the NAU Montana is one the others can be found here.

Tom--I don't know what's going on with America anymore.
We once stood tall and proud above the crowd, a bright shining city on a hill--protectors of the world that God has given us and now everyone wants to give it away.
Sad, very sad.
Illegals should have no rights whatsoever. They broke the law to get here and now they want to impose on us.
Many where I live claim my ancestors came here illegally--wrong--many of mine came here in precolonial times (one even in 1190 AD to get away from his 18 brothers fighting over a Welsh crown and settled in the upper Missouri river area of ND and MN), some were prisoners of the English Crown, so mine did not come here illegally and I think I could rightfully claim native status due to the length of time my family has been here.
And didn't we pay Mexico for the areas we won during the Mexican American war anyway? They're being indian givers.

Bob, that was great what you did. I wish everyone would do that when they get a phone call like you did. Wow it would have an impact if everyone would do it. Thank you.

Lynn your so right, it is both sides that are doing this. It is shameful, not to obey our laws and do be government officials that are promoting the NOT obeying the laws...no excuse for it at all.

Posted by: Wild Thing at March 4, 2007 11:17 PM

Tincan Sailor, that would have done the trick for sure.

Tom, wow that is very scary...(North American Union plan)...what the heck is happening to this country. I just can't believe it and we are living it right before our eyes and it is breaking my heart.

Jack, that is so weird about your first comment on this, it was ok'ed for comment and then did not show up. So odd for that to happen.

Thank you so much for the links about this.
