May Day March By Illegals and Those That Support Them

There are a lot of photos online from all the May Day rallies for ILLEGAL immigration. This is just one of them.

A demonstrator covers his face with a Mexican flag during a May Day immigration and labor march and rally in downtown Los Angeles May 1st.

The article is below but I also want to show you this video.

Viva La Raza! (Long live the Race!!) which explains why they never say it in English.

Thousands rally in May Day effort for immigration reform

CHICAGO (AP)

Thousands of chanting, flag-waving immigrants and activists rallied in cities across the country Thursday, attempting to reinvigorate calls for immigration reform in a presidential election year in which the economy has taken center stage.

From Washington to Miami to Los Angeles, immigrant rights activists demanded citizenship opportunities for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. and an end to raids and deportations.

"We come here to fight for legalization. We're people. We have rights," said Eric Molina, an undocumented factory worker who immigrated to Zion, Ill., from Mexico.

Molina, his sister and his 13-year-old daughter Erika, a U.S. citizen, were among about 15,000 people who rallied in Chicago in one of the largest demonstrations of the day.

Turnout has fallen sharply since the first nationwide rallies in 2006, when more than 1 million people - at least 400,000 in Chicago alone - clogged streets and brought downtown traffic to a standstill. Activists say this year's efforts are focused less on protests and more on voter registration and setting an agenda for the next president.

Some said participation likely was lower because many immigrants increasingly fear deportation.

Margot Veranes, a volunteer organizer in Tucson, Ariz., - where 12,000 took to the streets last year but early estimates Thursday put the crowd at about 500 - blamed the turnout on aggressive enforcement by Border Patrol and police.

"People have been stopped and deported in the last week. This is a community living in fear," said Veranes, a researcher for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades. "You never know when you're going to be stopped by Border Patrol and now the police."

But she said that's also why people were marching.

"We're marching to end the raids and the deportations, but we're also marching for health care and education and good jobs," she said.

In Washington, immigrant rights groups and social justice organizations were demanding that Prince William County, in northern Virginia, rescind its anti-illegal immigration measure. They also called for an end to raids and deportations and for establishment of worker centers in Washington, Maryland and Virginia.

Activists also asked the Republican and Democratic national committees to have their presidential candidates enact immigration reform.

A crowd of about 1,000 gathered on the steps of the Oregon Capitol in Salem to call for changes in immigration and workplace laws within the first 100 days of the next congressional session. Many demanded that Oregon reverse a decision, imposed by the Legislature in February, to require proof of legal residence to get a driver's license.

Hugo Orozzo, 17-year-old high school senior, was among hundreds who marched through the streets of southwest Detroit. He was born in the U.S., but his father was born in Mexico and some other family members are originally from Mexico.

"It is going to help my family and friends," Orozzo said of the effort. He carried a preprinted sign that read: "Stop raids and deportations that separate families!" in both English and Spanish.

And in Milwaukee, factory worker Miguel Tesillos, 29, was among hundreds who lined sidewalks waiting for the march to begin.

"Our people, we pay taxes, we pay the same as a citizen," said Tesillos, who has a Green Card. "Maybe the new president can see this point, and do something for us."

But activists say they know it will be a challenge to push their issues to the political forefront.

Immigration reform did not resonate with voters in primary elections who overwhelmingly listed the economy as their top concern. Immigration legislation has stalled and been defeated in the Senate, and presidential candidates have not extensively addressed the issues.

Democratic presidential rivals Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton supported a 2006 bill, sponsored by Republican candidate John McCain, that offered illegal immigrants legal status on conditions such as learning English. All three also have supported a border fence.

In Chicago, 17-year-old Celeste Rodarte marched with a group of her friends from the city's West Side. She said her parents came to the United States more than 20 years ago and became citizens last year.

"I know a lot of people who don't have papers and I want to help them out," Rodarte said.

Seventh-grader Vicente Campos of Milwaukee was granted an excused absence from school to attend the march. He said he was concerned by stories of immigration officials separating parents and children.

"Immigrants come here to support their families in Mexico," said Campos, 13. "They're not all here to do crimes."

Wild Thing's comment........

Illegals are parasites eating away at the fabric of our democracy. The USA is still a sovereign nation. The government might not think so any longer, but the American people certainly do and we want to keep it that way! If you want to live here as Americans, come the legal way. Otherwise, go away, Jose!

....Thank you Mark for the heads up about this.

They think we're trying to destroy their heritage--that's NOT true. What they do in their own homes is no business of ours, but when they come here all high and mighty, act like they deserve Rights they don't have and push their agenda on us who actually live here, that's when we have the problem.
I don't mind them celebrating their holidays or speaking their language in their own home--my own great grandmother used to swear at us in German! But we're tired of pressing 1 for English and being turned down for jobs because we don't speak Spanish.
Santa Ana signed away their rights to that whole area to Sam Houston and then we paid them for it.
I know what the Mexican government is doing--getting rid of it's unwanted.
Oh, and no one minds if they come here legally. We have the biggest welcome mat on the planet. Just don't come here and act like you own the place because you don't.

What makes these Illegals think they have rights? These criminals aliens are now demanding health care, jobs, educations and believe they have rights.

Them and liberal bleeding hearts whine and cry about families being separated. Well, isn't that what happens when criminals are caught and sent away? Every man and woman in prison is separated from their families. That's the price you pay for crime. If the Illegals don't want to be separated from their families, they can family and all go back where they came from and wait their turn to come to America.

"Oh give me a home..
where the immigrants roam...
up and down the lenth of Mission Bay...
where seldom is heard ...
an Enlgish like word...
and my taxes go up every day.."

The signs they carry says it all,. "They can't deport us". on the back ground of a 'Home Depot' Logo.

They know it and they flaunt it.

What happened to the Country's collective rage, during Shamnesty-gate. Where is that rage now.

What are the people thinking , all three candidates are in favor of Amnesty for all the illegals.

The democrats talk about Health Care, and claim 50 million people are without it. They don't tell us that 40 million of that 50 million are Illegals. They want a single payer system, so that no one is without Health Care, and Who is the single payer system... the joke is on us. It is we the people the single payer, ... More and more taxes on all of us 'Riiiich Whiiiite People'..spittui..

Well I am buying ammo and am going to cling to my guns and re-enforce the Perimeter of my land, and if necessary with Booby traps,( anyone know of surplus Claymores for sale cheap, 'Claymore mines work so fine') I worked too long and too hard to get what i got and these demented Sons of bitches are not going to redistribute any of my pie.

Their May First dmonstrations seem to be pooping out. But their intentions and their influx is not abating. This Hispanic movement is large. My newest neighbors are two Spanish speaking families living in one apartment. We get along, but there is a definite cultural divide.

Our next president and the Democrat controlled Congress almost guarantees an amnesty act will be passed within a year or two of the next administration. This will probably just about depopulate Mexico as they all move to the land of Mickey D's.

Illegal immigration is a war. America has lost this war. We lost the war in 1986 when President Reagan signed the 1986 Immigration Act. He later stated that that was the greatest error of his presidency. The following three presidents did nothing to revoke that act, or to secure our borders. Now we have close to 10% of our population who came here illegally or were born to illegals and many of them are demanding a culture change rather than trying themselves to assimilate. That culture will clash, unless the rest of us just roll over. The Hispanic culture may also clash with another sub culture, the Blacks. Potential rough times ahead as America Balkanizes.

Buy ammo.

Press 1 for English. Press 2 for Sharia Law. Press 3 to hear the Constitution and flag being flushed down the toilet.

McCain, Obama, and Clinton all support breaking the law, regardless of what it is, as long as enough people do it like millions of illegal aliens. How many millions can we get to not pay taxes that are used to support illegal aliens?

Lynn, I agree I don't mind at all for anyone to come here legally.
When they disobey our laws from the get go then how can I trust them after that for starters.

BobF, yes what an attitude that is when they demand their rights. amazing.

Posted by: Wild Thing at May 5, 2008 07:34 PM

Mark, OMG that was GREAT, you have a good voice.

Posted by: Wild Thing at May 5, 2008 07:36 PM

Tom, whew your right, they will be putting through something about amnesty that's for sure.

We all fought a good fight last year about it, twice with all our emails etc. It worked too and we were heard, but then they went to the back room talks about it, all that secret stuff. grrrr

Posted by: Wild Thing at May 5, 2008 07:40 PM

Les, yes that is about it, and it will be done one way or another since all the heavy weights want it so desperately.
