Arlen Specter Comes Out of the Closet ~ GOOD! Bye Bye!

"I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans," Specter said in a statement.

With Sen. Arlen Specter switching to the Democratic Party , once Sen. Franken gets seated, the party will have their 60 senators needed to stop a Republican filibuster.

President Barack Obama called Specter almost immediately after he was informed of the decision to say the Democratic Party was "thrilled to have you," according to a White House official.

Specter says Obama promised to campaign for him

Breitbart

Veteran Sen. Arlen Specter says President Barack Obama has promised to campaign for him in next year's Democratic primary in Pennsylvania.
Specter told reporters on Capitol Hill Tuesday that he spoke to the president about his party switch.

Separately, the White House said no promises were made to Specter to get him to switch parties and become a Democrat. Asked about Specter, press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters that no promises were made to the veteran senator as far as he knows.

Wild Thing's comment........

“I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans,”

LMAO He’s just NOW admitting that??? We see Specter for what he really is; A RINO TRAITOR!!!!!! He belongs with the socialists; he’ll feel right at home!

I’m thinking that by 2010, the chickens of Obama’s many wrongheaded policies will be coming home to roost, and his support will be an albatross around Specter’s neck.

No More Arlen Spectors!

Not quite as good as "never again!" or "Remember the Maine" but it has potential. hahaha

He is no longer a RINO for which I am grateful. With his brand of Republican politics, we didn’t have the votes to stop anything anyway. Better he became a Dem then keep pretending he was one of us. I can deal with a Democrat that acts like a Democrat. I can’t deal with a Republican who acts like a Democrat and then takes Republican money to get reelected. Good riddance.

....Thank you Horace for sending this to me.

So long, farewell, auf weidersahn, good bye.
Don't let the door hit you on the butt on the way out. You are definitely a Benedict Arnold. You rode in on Reagan's coat tails and have gone against everything the conservative party stood for and even undermined too many to count. Burned your bridges. I hope come next election, you lose and lose big!

Now Olympia Snow says, it's because of the Conservatives that 'Benedict Arlen' left.

In 2004 he begged Bush to help him in Pennsylvania because he was losing handily to Pat Toomey and now he is trailing by at least 20 points. Toomey is a real down to earth Conservative and hopefully will win in 2010.

He whined about the suggestion of removing him from the Judiciary Committee, and promised not to be such a whuss-like democrat, that lasted about 6 months after he got his chairmanship back.

Thats one there still three go get rid of for sure: McCain, Snow and Collins.(and Lindsey Graham is close, too) One would think Maine would help a little bit by voting one of those losers out.

GW Bush got this Masterpiece of Depravity elected in 2004 when he campaigned for him against Toomey in the primaries. Toomey was a good Conservative and if Bush would have butted out, Specter would have been history five years ago. Bush did a lot to hurt the Republicans and his chickens are still coming home to roost.

Let's just hope that Specter doesn't make it though the Democrat primaries next year. I'm sure there are some loyal Democrats in Pennsylvania who are upset over this as they have hopes for running for the Senate.

You can't make this stuff up!

I intend to propose a rule change which would preclude a future recurrence of a Senator’s change in parties, in midsession, organizing with the opposition, to cause the upheaval which is now resulting.

Spector defected from the Dems in 1980 to share Reagan's votes. Now after years of being a RINO, he defects back. Guess that makes him a professional defector. Hope he loses his Senate seat. Glad he is gone from the Repubs.

Like Mark says, four to go.

BobF - I agree with you about Bush.

Ah yes, trust. Now both sides can trust him, the traitorous bastard, he's right where he always belonged, a useful idiot for the Democrats. Their Trojan Horse has come home, break out those Trojans Obama, he's all yours, Bwahahaha.
