Attorney General Eric "my people" Holder Forcing City of Dayton to Lower Its Standards So Minority Applicants Can Pass Test
The Dayton Police Department is lowering its testing standards for recruits.
It’s a move required by the U.S. Department of Justice after it says not enough African-Americans passed the exam.
Dayton is in desperate need of officers to replace dozens of retirees. The hiring process was postponed for months because the D.O.J. rejected the original scores provided by the Dayton Civil Service Board, which administers the test.
Under the previous requirements, candidates had to get a 66% on part one of the exam and a 72% on part two.
The D.O.J. approved new scoring policy only requires potential police officers to get a 58% and a 63%. That’s the equivalent of an ‘F’ and a ‘D’.
“It becomes a safety issue for the people of our community,” said Dayton Fraternal Order of Police President, Randy Beane. “It becomes a safety issue to have an incompetent officer next to you in a life and death situation.”
“The NAACP does not support individuals failing a test and then having the opportunity to be gainfully employed,” agreed Dayton NAACP President Derrick Foward.
The D.O.J. and Civil Service Board declined Dayton’s News Source’s repeat requests for interviews. The lower standards mean 258 more people passed the test. The city won’t say how many were minorities.
“If you lower the score for any group of people, you’re not getting the best qualified people for the job,” Foward said.
“We need to work with the youth and make them interested in becoming law enforcement officers and firefighters,” said Beane. “Break down the barriers whether they are real or perceived, so we can move forward in this community.”
The D.O.J. has forced other police departments across the country to lower testing standards, citing once again that not enough black candidates were passing.
The Dayton Firefighter recruit exam is coming up this summer. The chief said it’s likely the passing score for that test will be lowered as well.
Wild Thing's comment.......
If I was black and trying for this job, I would be insulted by what Eric Holder is asking (demanding ) to happen. Totally insulted, the same way I would feel about the horrible press 1 for English etc.. Why can't people realize this catering like this only makes the person look stupid and for sure unable to do the job they are wanting. The same with the Press 1 for English, it makes those needing this look stupid.

Self respecting Black Americans should be insulted by this. The US Attorney General saying they're not smart enough to pass a simple test.

Dayton Ohio is none of racist Eric Holder's business. This silly affirmative action crap was done in Dallas. The police department ended up with a bunch of fat butt Black women who could't chase a turtle and a lot of Black cops that committed crimes. The capable Blacks would have made the police force without the crutch of affirmative action.

You think I can bring this up next time I'm stopped by a black police officer? "Hey, is it true that they lowered standards so you could pass too?" :-)

Eddy, that's not nice. But it is funny.
Here's my take on the whole thing. Look at Haiti. A large chunk of the relief money went into the pockets of the politicians and those that are connected. It's the same with education dollars in places like Detroit or (pick your big city). The upper tier soaks up the funding, then the unions get theirs, then the crumbs are what the kids get. A child will get a much better education in a one-room Amish schoolhouse than they'll ever get in a DOE funded public school. Get the feds out of education and let the States handle their own. Education is too important to let the Federal Government screw it all up.

How about that! Unofficially we are back to the quota system, in one swell swoop. So we are getting new cops that are dummer than dirt and probably can't tell the difference. They are turning Dial 9-11 into Dial a Prayer and hope the cops arrive sometime during the week.

We should strive for excellence in our police academies and create an environment where exceptional cadets can excel and advance.
We are reliving the late 1970's with the Alan Bakke quota decision during the Carter years.
It's the same old, same old with these liberals.
Whether it's in our medical schools or police academies or the elementary school yard, every body goes home with a trophy in their menagerie world of sloth and deceit.
That is all that can be expected from these collectivist liberals.
-Sloth and deceit, mediocrity at best.
Their social justice and equality for some trumps public safety for all.
This so disgusting. General Holder will go down as the worst U.S. Attorney General in history.
There's no leadership here. Their's is a path to ruin and self destruction.
It's a menagerie. This simply must end.
We are Americans.

Thank you all so much, great input.
I feel badly for the police and firefighters etc. that passed on their own from hard work and a lot of effort. It is so unfair to do what Holder is demanding. And the consequences will very possibly cause deaths of citizens if they don't know what they are doing.
