Calif. Teachers Federation Endorses Convicted ‘Cop Killer’ Mumia Abu-Jamal ~ Teachers Have Become Violent and Radical Enemies Of Our Country

On December 9, 1981, at approximately 3:55 a.m., Officer Danny Faulkner, a five year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, made a traffic stop at Locust Street near Twelfth Street. The car stopped by Officer Faulkner was being driven by William Cook. After making the stop, Danny called for assistance on his police radio and requested a police wagon to transport a prisoner. Unbeknownst to him, William Cook’s brother, Wesley (aka Mumia Abu-Jamal) was across the street.

As Danny attempted to handcuff William Cook, Mumia Abu-Jamal ran from across the street and shot the officer in the back. Danny turned and was able to fire one shot that struck Abu-Jamal in the chest; the wounded officer then fell to the pavement. Mumia Abu-Jamal stood over the downed officer and shot him four more times at close range, once directly in the face. Mumia Abu-Jamal was found still at the scene of the shooting by officers who arrived there within seconds. The murderer was slumped against the curb in front of his brother’s car. In his possession was a .38 caliber revolver that records showed Mumia had purchased months earlier. The chamber of the gun had five spent cartridges.

A cab driver, as well as other pedestrians, had witnessed the brutal slaying and identified Mumia Abu-Jamal as the killer both at the scene and during his trial. On July 2, 1982, after being tried before a jury of ten whites and two blacks, Mumia Abu-Jamal was convicted of murdering Officer Danny Faulkner. The next day, the jury sentenced him to death after deliberating for two hours. The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania heard the defendant’s appeals and upheld the conviction on March 6, 1989.

The Blaze

The California Federation of Teachers — a branch of the AFL-CIO — has adopted a resolution at its annual conference supporting convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal, the Daily Caller reports.

From TheDC, which notes that Abu-Jamal is now being called a “journalist:”

Among the resolutions largely pertaining to education and collective bargaining rights was Resolution 19 – to “Reaffirm support for death row journalist.”

“Therefore, be it resolved, that the California Federation of Teachers reaffirm its support and demand that the courts consider the evidence of innocence of Mumia Abu-Jamal,” the Committee Report reads.

Mumia Abu-Jamal, a former member of the Black Panther Party, was convicted of shooting, multiple times, Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981. He reportedly confessed to the crime and was given the death penalty.

Instead of recognizing Abu-Jamal’s conviction, the federation believes he is innocent and a civil rights hero.

“Mumia Abu-Jamal has for decades as a journalist fought courageously against racism and police brutality and for the human rights of all people and has taken strong stands in support of working people involved in labor struggles and in support of well-funded, quality, public education,” the resolution reads.

But not everyone is convinced.

“Somebody should tell the California Teachers Federation that this is over, he is in jail, he is going to stay there,” Daniel Flynn, author of “Cop killer: How Mumia Abu-Jamal conned millions into believing he was framed, told TheDC. “You have numerous eyewitnesses saying Mumia did it. You had ballistic evidence – Mumia’s gun at the scene was consistent with the bullet used to kill Faulkner. Mumia admitted after the fact that he did it.”

That doesn’t matter to the CFT. “The delegates decided it was time to reiterate that they supported him due to the irregularities that they felt had taken place during his case,” a spokesman for the organization told TheDC. He went on to say that the CFT takes positions on a variety of “social matters.”

Former Green Jobs Czar Van Jones is also an Abu-Jamal supporter.

Wild Thing's comment........

SICK people, sick teachers!

What the hell has happened to Americans!!!!!

No doubt they will be cheered on by Bill Ayers.

The AFL-CIO is now run by avowed Marxists whose primary aim is to change America into a socialist country. Unions are just a tool to do it with.

It's already a proven fact that America's children are behind most other nations when it comes to education. We have better facilities and equipment and spend more per child than any other country but are still lacking. One thing we have that most other nations don't; a teachers union. What the UAW did to the auto industry, the teachers union is doing to education.

Maybe, just maybe we need to have re-education camps for our teachers and prison cells for their administrators. Oh and 6 months hard labor in the dingleberry fields for all liberal college professors.

Oh and since its 5:10 AM here, FUCK YOU OBAMA!

Even teachers are afraid of teachers' unions. Teachers Unions are not doing the same thing to educatiohn that the UAW did to the Auto industry, they got there first and did it to America's world leading education industry first.
It started with closed guilds. When those who couldn't do taught. It was people who were interestd in a subject teaching it. With professenally certified teachers they cannot imagine why anyone would want to learn a marketable skill.
The Unions weith NEA or Federation of Teachers are stronger the weaker the teachers.
