Pelosi's New Office Costs Taxpayers $18,736 a Month

Pelosi: We'll Stop Blaming Bush 'When The Problems Go Away'

In an interview with MSNBC, Pelosi said congressional Democrats feel justified in blaming the Bush administration because of the problems it left behind for President Barack Obama.

Asked if there was a statute of limitations on blaming Bush, Pelosi said: "Well, it runs out when the problems go away."

"He brought us to the brink of financial crisis, he brought us to the brink of deep recession, ignoring issues related to climate change," said Pelosi (D-Calif.), who rattled off a number of problems she said Democrats inherited from Bush and are trying to fix.

Republicans have criticized Democrats for playing the Bush blame game, a successful political strategy for Democrats in the 2006 and 2008 elections.

The GOP argues it is time for Obama, in office for nearly 18 months, to take responsibility for some of the country's problems, from the Gulf oil spill to the huge budget deficit. Democrats have been in charge of Congress for nearly three and a half years.

FOX News

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s district office in San Francisco is costing taxpayers far more than the rent paid by any other member of Congress: a whopping $18,736 a month.

The rental price was reported by Roll Call and Fox News on Monday.

The Democratic congresswoman moved last fall to a "greener" space in the city's new federal building — a move and a high price that her spokesman, Drew Hammill, says was amply justified.

Hammill cited the new building's increased security measures as one reason for the expense.

"The new office space is 3,075 square feet, nearly a third larger than the old space, which was of inadequate size," he told FoxNews.com.

"As speaker, the security needs are different," he said. "The new San Francisco Federal Building offers enhanced security features, which were a major factor in the decision to move offices."

Pelosi's constituency hasn't significantly expanded in size, but her San Francisco staff has increased to a size that requires a larger space for files and storage, he said -- though he did not provide a precise number. The difference in office size is approximately 1,000 square feet, he said.

Roll Call reported Monday that Pelosi's new office space costs almost double that of the next-highest rental office held by a House member. Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., reportedly pays just under $10,600 a month for his office in New York's Soho neighborhood.

The newspaper, which cites a database produced by the Sunlight Foundation, also reports that other lawmakers, like Democratic Reps. Stephen Lynch of Boston and Diane Watson of Los Angeles, pay exorbitant rental fees for their offices -- $9,000 to $10,000 a month.

Wild Thing's comment........

So in other words, they’re going to blame Bush forever. In other words, “When hell freezes over.” Nancy, we GET it. You can take it to the bank and write checks on it — we GET it.

She and her cohorts have created all the problems.

In the midst of an extreme economic crisis, Queen Pelosi continues to act as if the entire U.S. treasury is there for her own personal comfort. Between her egomaniacal overcharges for office space and Air Force flights for friends and family, her expenditures could feed all the poor in her district. BTW, if these fools choose to reelect her for another term, let's start a referendum to have THEM pay for all of her extravagant spending.

"W," the Emmanual Goldstein of the left/liberal world. Everything is George W. Bush's faults for Democrats, even the stuff he "made" them do now somehow (Blago will probably claim that at trial, too). Bush is responsible for everything they do.

Amazing how they can beat up on Bank CEO's, Auto Makers etc, yet, they steal money and spend it like it wasn't even theirs' ...Hey wait a minute it aint there money. Most offensive of all, is their arrogance and in your face attitude towards the people who put them there and pay their overpriced salaries for doing nothing and let them think they do no wrong.

Enough is enough time to kick their punky asses out and the farther out the better.
