Michele Bachmann Starts House Tea Party Caucus

Texas GOP Vote

U.S. Representative Michele Bachmann (MN-6) filed paperwork Thursday to start a House Tea Party Caucus in order to promote a call for fiscal responsibility, adherence to the Constitution, and limited government:

Bachmann said of the Tea Party Caucus:

"The American people are speaking out loud and clear. They have had enough of the spending, the bureaucracy, and the government knows best mentality running rampant today throughout the halls of Congress. This caucus will espouse the timeless principles of our founding, principles that all Members of Congress have sworn to uphold. The American people are doing their part and making their voices heard and this caucus will prove that there are some here in Washington willing to listen."

A letter was sent earlier today to Representative Robert Brady, Chairman of the Committee on House Administration to register the House Tea Party Caucus as a Congressional Member Organization for the 111th Congress .

The NAACP is going to love this! heh heh

God Bless Michelle Bachmann. She’s a fighter. Glad she’s on our side.

Go Michele. I don't know if there has ever been a conservative caucus in Congress. Every fringe group, including the communists, has a caucus. We conservatives should have one also.

the Tea Party needs most a unifying theme or cause. "Smaller government" won't cut it as somebody wants (or profits by) all those give-aways. May I suggest an all-out war on the greatest threat to America, corruption? My take would be addressing through a Constitutional ammendment campaign finance reform, to keep the crooks out, and term limits to expel the many we have already. For the former, I'd suggest limiting contributions to individuals only, excluding ALL groups as"special interests" and as concealment devices to obscure who's really contributing/benefitting. Of course effective measures would be required to ensure timely reporting and "laundering" where one person is required to swear it's really his/her money. As to term limits, I can think of no better way to cut off bribes. We lessen the incentive to buy a congrressman when he/she's a lame duck. Not perfect, but a good argument for unifying the party around a single cause, not divisive ones like abortion, gay marriage, immigration et al.

Tom,I agree so much, and we sure are lucky to have her on our side. She is a bulldog when she goes after issues and I love how she does it.
