Obama Mocks Tea Party Movement… Says He’s Amused by the Tea Party Rallies

The Hill

Barack Obama struck a hyperpartisan note Thursday, telling Democrats that he was “amused” by the Tax Day Tea Party rallies.

Obama, addressing a Democratic National Committee (DNC) fundraiser in Miami, did little to endear himself to the Tea Party groups protesting around the country, saying “they should be saying thank you” because of the tax cuts he has signed into law.

The president went as far as to say that this week’s special election in Florida, which was won by Democrat Ted Deutch, was portrayed by Republicans as “a referendum on healthcare, a referendum on the stimulus.”

“And you know what, it was,” Obama said to applause.
Obama continued to dare Republicans to run on a platform of repealing healthcare reform, telling the audience “they won’t be very successful.”

Despite the president’s confidence, DNC Chairman Tim Kaine told the crowd that they should assume that Democrats are “running into a headwind” in the November midterms.

Kaine said Democrats, who gathered at one of two fundraisers that raised about $2.5 million for the party, are the underdogs this year.

"You don't mind being the underdog, you don't mind running into a headwind, you don't mind an uphill race," Kaine said. "You don't mind being the underdog. Becasue that's what Democrats do. We are the underdogs."

Obama also continued to try to make the case that a vote against financial regulatory reform is a vote on behalf of Wall Street and against Main Street.

"Every member of Congress is soon going to have to make a decision, but the choice is going to be very simple between special interests and the American people," Obama said.

Wild Thing's comment........

He’s not my president.

If Obama care is so great why does he have to continue selling it now that he signed it into law. He is a rotten SOB.

Get the red out of the Whitehouse!!!

I don't think we've ever seen a president dismiss a good majority of the American People like this one has. He has utter contempt for those who aren't in step with his programs.

That race in Florida, Craock never mentioned that it was a Dark Blue section of Florida, which had been severely gerrymandered and couldn't have gone any other way. the Republican challanger Ted Lynch got 35% and an independent got 3% so thats the break down. Even in this area there were defections obsambo got that 3 percent last time, not much but its a defection at least for that dark blue community.

So this wasn't like a Statewide vote as Massachusetts was buy a liberal bastion with a few defectors. Barry ought not get too excited over this Pyric victory.

Hey obama. I mock your backers, ACORN and SEIU. The reason for the Tea Party movement is because you are so anti American.

I made my first tea party protest on the capitol steps yesterday, it was peaceful and the Queen of the Soviet of Washington had her Stasi out in force. What's a terrorist to do? I struck up a conversation with the Sgt of the guard, I hope he isn't drawn and quartered by the bitch. 3000 peacefully assembled, there were 6 or 7, obvious young radicals dressed like '60's Che Guevara doing interviews. When asked who our leader was, the response was, I Am.

The more I think about it, hanging the asswipe after his trial for treason is far to tame. We need him to feel some serious pain and I do mean serious pain before he meets him maker, Satan.

Jack, excellent response...I Am. That's exactly right and what separates us from liberal democrats. We're responsible for ourselves and don't have to follow anyone.
