Ever heard of an Elephant Walk in the military? This is what that is..

A-10 Thunderbolt II and F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft perform an Elephant Walk on the runway during Exercise Beverly Herd 16-01 at Osan AB, Republic of Korea. The Elephant Walk was a demonstration of United States Air Force capabilities and strength.

That IS NOT an elephant walk. It's more like a gazelle prance An elephant walk was the Heavies, SAC B-52's and KC-135's on alert taxiing towards the runway for an Emergency War Order (EWO) launch.

Here is an actual elephant walk from the 379th Bomb Wing at Wurtsmith AFB back in the late 80's.

I know that Chrissie. The fighter guys are trying to get in on the Elephant Walk since there aren't a lot of the Heavies left. I spent my career on the Heavies and mostly in SAC. When the B-52's and KC-135's loaded with fuel and weapons taxied, they looked like elephants lumbering along and thus the Elephant Walk. Thing is, when the horn went off and the alert birds "walked", you didn't know if it was the real thing or not.
