Rick Perry: The Right Man at the Right Time

Rick Perry: The Right Man at the Right Time

July 15, 2015

Rick Perry is the best we've seen in decades

To a lot of people, the presidential election seems like a long ways away but in reality things are already in full swing. Candidates have announced their intentions to run for President, debates are being organized, campaigns are swinging their ways through early primary states like Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina and money is being donated to Pac’s. With our country divided in a way it has not been since the 60’s and the world growing more threatening it seems Americans are reaching for anyone who can make sense and lead them out of what seems to be a dark abyss.

Some have heard the incoherence of Donald Trump, the rhetoric of junior Senator, Ted Cruz, the libertarian line from Rand Paul, the measured words of Marco Rubio, the fight in Scott Walker and then there’s Rick Perry. Perry is the man before all of them.

Why do I say that? I have been involved in politics since I was too young to remember. I do remember at the age of four telling my Mom she had to vote for Richard Nixon. She looked at my Dad and exclaimed “BILL!” Always Papas girl from the start. In my family, my parents took Jefferson’s ideas of an educated electorate never making mistakes to heart. This interest was not a passion rather than a duty. A task I hate because politics always leads to the lowest common denominator however one must pay attention to politics because politics will as Pericles said, pay attention to you. In 2000 after 8 dismal years away from history during the debauchery, and nihilism of the 90’s and the Clinton era I went to Washington DC to start a career in politics because I felt I had to. The idea of Al Gore becoming President scared me to death. I worked for the Leadership Institute, was a Staffer for Majority Leader Dick Armey and then a schedule C employee through White House personnel at a Department in the Executive Branch. Even after I left work to get married I never stopped paying attention and doing what I could to help forward Conservative ideas.

I do not think we have seen a candidate like Perry in well over a generation. The dignity, humility and leadership displayed by the former Texas governor is refreshing and a throwback to virtues that American politics have been seriously lacking in decades. Rick Perry does not use rhetoric, he speaks plainly and sincerely. He is the only man in the race that understands the rest of us because quite honestly he really is the rest of us.

Paint Creek Texas, where Perry grew up is barely a blip on the map. His father, a WWII veteran of the 8th US Army Air force and the bombing campaign against Germany was dry land cotton farmer. That’s a hard way to grow up. Perry understands how hard it is for the regular folks because of his upbringing. It was hard work, but that work builds character. It builds a man. It was the farm, the work, the faith that built Rick Perry.

Past is prologue when it concerns Rick Perry. The former Texas Governor is not Washington DC and that is what Washington DC needs. A new perspective of the kind it has not seen since 1981. Somebody that will do the business of the United States and stay independent of the powers that be. This is why he scares them and this why we need him in the Oval Office. The thing is, lots of candidates say they will do the things that we need done, but Perry has a habit of doing exactly what he says he is going to do.

Concerning the border with Mexico. Last summer when thousands of children were crossing the border and the influx of illegal aliens was over powering the border patrol, Perry defied Obama’s effete policy on protecting the US/Mexican border and the Governor sent the Texas guard to help plug the holes. The strategy worked and illegals crossing into Texas from Mexico dropped to above 70%. Crime was down as well. As was said before, Rick Perry says what he will do and he does it. There is no other way for him to be. He is who he is.

Humility is a virtue and honor that other candidates like Donald Trump and Ted Cruz lack. Humility is the trait all truly great men possess. Ronald Reagan had it, Teddy Roosevelt had it, and Abraham Lincoln had it. Dwight Eisenhower had it as well. Rick Perry is a man of great humility. Unlike Jeb Bush, Rick Perry does not feel he is owed the Presidency, or deserves it like Hillary Clinton believes she does. This run for the White House is about serving our country. Perry’s life has been about humble service to God, and our flag. What more could an American searching for a leader ask for?

Perry’s experience is vast. No candidate on the GOP side has as much experience as Rick Perry does. From the farm, to Texas A&M to the Air Force to the Texas Legislature, and onto the Governor’s Mansion. It is not like running a business empire, or sponsoring legislation. Being the leader of the world’s 12th largest economy is a job that fully qualifies a man to be President of the United States. He is not only highly experienced in domestic issues and policy but as Governor he is also very experienced in foreign policy. For example Rick Perry had a hand in stopping what terrorist supporters called the “Freedom Flotilla 2”. This flotilla was nothing more than an attack on Israel’s blockade of Gaza. Rick Perry wrote a letter stating that Americans taking part in the obvious attack on Israel were in violation of the Neutrality Act. Along with the actions of Shurat HaDin, an Israeli Law Center Perry’s letter helped stopped 9 out of the ten ships heading for Gaza. Perry’s statement on Obama’s incoherent Iran deal show his backbone of solid American steel.

He would invalidate this ridiculous deal should he become President, www.washingtonpost.com/blog/post-politics/wp/2015/06/rick-perry-to-pledge-to-invalidate-obamas-iran-agreement . This is sound judgement. Not mere rhetoric. He would not be a pushover for any foreign power out to do the US harm either. Perry is not so much a hawk as he is a defender of the nation. He would do the job with commonsense, clear thinking and logic. There is an American rationality behind his thinking that we have not seen since Ronald Reagan was in the White House.

Perry is a different breed of politician. Anyone thinking otherwise is wrong. They do not see him as he really is and this is to their political peril. Kay Bailey Hutchison knows this well upon taking him on in the 2010 Texas State gubernatorial primary. Perry came out of nowhere and squashed her. The Bush backed Hutchison thought she could defeat the governor and at first polling made it look as if she would defeat him and yet he soundly defeated her. Then he went on to crush his Democrat opponent. He is not a man to be taken lightly or misjudged. By anyone. He is one of the savviest politicians we have ever seen. And this is a talent the Presidency needs because we have not seen it years. To be president one has to be a politician. That’s the truth. One also has to be a statesman to be a great politician. Perry is that as well.

The thing about Perry is that Texans ultimately knew and know he is reliable. When asked to step in Perry does not hesitate. When Wendy Davis spewed her pro-abortion garbage in a filibuster on the floor of the Texas State Senate, David Dewhurst the Lieutenant Governor did not move fast enough to stop Davis’ filibuster before the legislative session ran out. Perry stepped in and called a special session so Texas’ new law protecting unborn babies from the horrific death of partial birth abortion as well as strict standards abortion clinics would be forced to adhere to could be passed. It was passed and Perry signed it. Of course it’s being fought in the courts because leftist fascists cannot handle defeat well but it proves Perry comes in and does what must be done to do the right thing. When he defied Obama and sent he state guard to the border that was another moment of action by a leader who knows what his job was and is. It’s funny but did it ever occur to people that Perry not only was doing this to protect Texas but also the rest of us?

In the end we have 15 candidates on the GOP side to choose from. The only one who stands out to a discerning and jaded conservative looking for a leader who will put the country’s best interest ahead of his own and others is Rick Perry. He did that in Texas, and if past is prologue, then Perry’s success as governor of the most robust state in the union will be duplicated if we do the right thing and choose him as our nominee. He can win the White House. He is the right man to come along at the exact time America needs a leader, and a hero.

You can tell who the Democrats fear most by who their lap dogs, like Jimmy Fallon, attack on late night. Fallon always goes after Rick Perry but now he's also going after Trump.
