Axelrod Meets With FOX News Roger Ailes

Axelrod meets with Ailes

Politico

At a time of tension between their organizations, White House senior adviser David Axelrod met with Fox News chairman and chief executive officer Roger Ailes two weeks ago, sources tell POLITICO.

The two met privately in Manhattan during the president’s visit to the United Nations.

The two discussed news coverage and the relationship between the organizations.

An FNC spokesperson tells POLITICO that Ailes and Axelrod had a “cordial conversation” over coffee while the president was in town.

Ailes is the founder of Fox News. A key part of Axelrod’s portfolio is the president’s image and broad message.

White House officials have expressed pique with what they consider heavy coverage of Obama critics by opinion shows on the news channel.

Obama aides showed their displeasure by omitting “Fox News Sunday” when the president granted interviews last month to the other Sunday shows.

Noting coverage on cable’s Fox News Channel, the Fox broadcast network declined to carry Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress, or his most recent prime-time news conference. White House officials did not like that, but say it is not their primary problem with Fox.

Wild Thing's comment.......

He probably told Roger Ailes to squash Beck and Hannity. Hopefully, Ailes told him where to stick it! And it would have been even better if Ailes had very publicly explained that a meeting would be inappropriate because media and government should be very separate.

They want it ALL< they want every news network, every paper, every blog, every talk show....all of it! The White House wants a nice, controlled propaganda stream. They should be happy they have Shep Smith on FOX news who is now pushing socialized medicine. sheesh

Can you imagine if Karl Rove had gone to the networks other then FOX to do the same thing?

This Administration will not suppress the American people, regardless of what they try.

O'Reilly is their biggest draw, he has repeatedly said he won't pre-qualify questions, Greta has said no deal on subjects not to ask. Axelrod is pissing in the wind if he thinks FOX is going to change a formula that delivers them the top 13 spots every week. At least I hope I'm right on that. I know one thing, Beck is not going to roll over and play dead. He has a radio show, so does Hannity, to add to their nightly show information.

BTW if anyone wants to listen to Beck on the computer go to http://radiotime.com/ProgramDetails.aspx?ProgramId=20277&StationId=22255

You can mess around with that site and find other stations that broadcast at different times. That station above also broadcasts Rush right after Glenn. It starts at 9 AM EST.

Chrissie, I'd like to be there if Axelrod ever contacted you to tell you that your blog is too critical of our POS leader. I'd like to see Axelrod blush for probably the first time in his pathetic life. I'd probably have to turn off my hearing aids......

I also hope Ailes does not comply with any request of Axelrod(obama). It would have better if the meeting had been held live on Fox. But then Axelrod would have had to tone down the gist of his purpose.

Even if Fox and other conservative media(blogs) were to lighten up on their criticism of obama he would still go through with his plans for government to control all of media including the Internet.

Glenn Beck was under CNN's oppressive thumb, now that he's at Fox he's wide open and calling it as he sees it. I'm sure the bots would like to censure free speech at Fox and make this country into another Venezuelan dictatorship. They have Franken in the Senate and Colmes on their radio, their freak shows have no substance or credibility and they are failures.
Thanks for that link Eden
