Memories.. Too bad though Robert Vaughn had to say the Corvair was the most exciting car he's seen. He must not have seen that Corvette drive down the street right before he came on.

Smilin' BobF, so true.

Thanks gang, what memories this brings. Robert Vaughn and Pernell Roberts must be the only ones left from those days. As a former mechanic, two nightmares from that era, the Chevrolet Corvair with it's flat-6 boxer engine and the Ford Mustang 428 Cobra Jet. I hated to work on either one of them, the thermal shielding of the Corvair was a nightmare in itself, just accessing the cooling fan drive belt was an aggravating chore. That Cobra had zero room in the engine compartment, making it near impossible to change sparkplugs from above or below, many had an aftermarket 'door" cut in the right inside fender well to access the rear two plugs on that side necessitating tire removal too. These days I'm my daughter's personal mechanic, she has a 'Cherry' '64 VW Bug, I put electronic ignition on it a couple years ago and it's a kick to drive but I wouldn't want it for a full time ride. Yeah I hate working on it too!!!

'65 chevelle's were always nice. First big block from chevy. And not counting the 348W block that got punched out to the awesome 409. As much as I liked chevy's there was nothing that could touch a 'Hemi'...Just like the song says, 'but parked in a ricketty old garage is a brand new shiny red super stock dodge'.

That Ford 428 DOHC was a pure pain in the ass, all chain driven off by a half a link and you had flames coming out of th carburetor.

Awww the good old days. Those were some cars.

Amen to that 'Vette. When the Stingray era ended so did my infactuation with Corvettes. My best car ever was a '62 Chevy Impala SS, 327 w/ 4 speed. Wished it was the 409, but golly I enjoyed that car.

Those were the good(innocent) days for me. In 65 I dropped out of college and joined the Army. Those tv shows, movies, commercials, magazines all seem so much more quality than things these days. Of course we had no computers.
