Zell Miller Backs Chambliss in Ga.

Sen. Saxby Chambliss, who faces a runoff election against Democrat Jim Martin in Georgia, warns that Senate Democrats will promote an “out-of-control left-wing agenda” if they gain a 60-vote, filibuster-proof majority.

Zell Miller Backs Chambliss in Ga.

Former Democratic Senator and Georgia Governor Zell Miller has endorsed Republican incumbent Sen. Saxby Chambliss in the upcoming runoff election in Georgia against Democratic challenger Jim Martin.

Mindful that Democrats could have 59 Senate seats by that time, one short of a filibuster-proof majority, Miller told the gathering that Saxby “could well be the last man standing [against] a far-left liberal agenda sailing through the U.S. Senate, an agenda that Jim Martin just can’t wait to help move on.”

Miller said when he was governor, “I proposed a $100 million tax cut for Georgia. Guess who [was] the very first state legislator [who] popped up and said, this is wrong, we’ve got too many unmet needs to do it? You guessed it. His name was Jim Martin.

“Unmet needs. I think the greatest unmet need is getting that money back to the taxpayers.

“I have served with both these men in this race. And there is no question in my mind or in my heart which one is the best prepared to serve our country and serve our state. And that is our senior Senator, Saxby Chambliss.”

In 2004, Miller delivered the keynote speech at the GOP convention, and he backed President George W. Bush over John Kerry in the general election.

Miller did not run for re-election and left the Senate in 2005.

In the RNSC ad, he alludes to President-elect Barack Obama’s likely economic policies and declares: “I don’t like this spread the wealth. To steal from Peter to pay Paul even if it gets Paul to vote for you, is wrong, wrong, wrong.”

Wild Thing's comment.......

Zell Miller is so good, I never will forget his speech at the GOP convention.

I just hope the GA voters are listening and taking heed.
The thought of a 60 vote Dem Congress...the stuff of nightmares for this country.
Goodbye Constitution.

Hopefully Sen. Chambliss will get most of the independent votes. Also, Blacks will probably not turn out in big numbers as there is no Black in this runoff.

We sure don't want a filibuster proof Democrat Senate.

Will it really matter if they get a 60 vote veto proof Sneate ? There are at least 4-6 Rinos that will go along with Reed on almost ever Liberal issue. WE got to clean out the rino's first.

We got Olimpia Snow, Susan collins, Grahamnesty, McCain and a few others will certainly cause the rank and file plenty of misery in the next two years. I mean these four may as well be democrats for as much as they stand up for conservative values.

Regardless whether Chambliss goes or not it is going to be a horrible next two years. Our only saving grace will be, if any exist, conservative democrats to vote with the minority of Conservative Repblicans to beat the 60.

Yankeemom, yessss it is a nightmare. With the mandate Obama will have it will be like a double whammy, like having two Obama's. One as President and the twin agreeing to all he wants.

Tom, yes we sure don't, I am glad Miller tried to do what he could to help.

Mark, yes with the rino's they have it already.

This is all such a living nightmare.

You said something that might happen. There are some democrats that are not far to the left and just might do like you said.

Darth, 2016???oh nooooooooo HELP!

The fact of the matter is that the Democrats already have a virtual veto proof majority in the Senate. Democrats united in opposition when they wanted to oppose Bush or Republican agendas when they were in the majority. Bush's judicial appointments are a perfect example. The Dems were able to filibuster and block fully qualified judges from serving on a higher bench. They were aided and abetted by RINO's like John McCain.

So now, with a large majority of 57, 58, or even 59 senators the Democrats can count on the help of enough of the RINO's to get their legislation passed almost 100% of the time. I do hope that Sen. Chambliss does return to the Senate but in reality it may not change the outcome of Obama's socialist agenda.
