Matthis Chiroux US soldier refuses to serve in 'illegal Iraq war'

Breitbart ....for complete article

"I was from a poor, white family from the south, and I did badly in school," the now 24-year-old told AFP.

"I was 'filet mignon' for recruiters. They started phoning me when I was in 10th grade," or around 16 years old, he added.

Chiroux joined the US army straight out of high school nearly six years ago, and worked his way up from private to sergeant.

He served in Afghanistan, Germany, Japan, and the Philippines and was due to be deployed next month in Iraq.

On Thursday, he refused to go, saying he considers Iraq an illegal war.

"I stand before you today with the strength and clarity and resolve to declare to the military, my government and the world that this soldier will not be deploying to Iraq," Chiroux said in the sun-filled rotunda of a congressional building in Washington.

"My decision is based on my desire to no longer continue violating my core values to support an illegal and unconstitutional occupation... I refuse to participate in the Iraq occupation," he said, as a dozen veterans of the five-year-old Iraq war looked on.

Minutes earlier, Chiroux had cried openly as he listened to former comrades-in-arms testify before members of Congress about the failings of the Iraq war.

IVAW member Matthis Chiroux announces his refusal to deploy to Iraq
Here it is Winter Soldier on the Hill and this twit is their latest claim to so called fame.

Wild Thing's comment........

This crap is John Kerry revisited!!!

Six years down the road after promotions and reenlistments, he’s blaming it on the recruiters????

What a hypocritical jerk!!!!!

He volunteered, then he reenlisted and I'm sure got a big reup bonus out of it too. He has been cashing those paychecks for many years and now the cowardly bastard wants to quit because he is afraid to go to Iraq.!!!!!!

Patriotic dissent my arse...The enemy supporting propaganda from the left is working.

"My decision is based on my desire to no longer continue violating my core values to support an illegal and unconstitutional occupation..."

From a bad high school student to an expert on constitutional law in a few short years. Guess that will be his claim to those teaching him the propaganda in to his mush brain.

Once a traitor...always a traitor!!

Patton knew what to do with someone like this:

Patton's Speech to the Troops in England May 31, 1944

"Each man must not think only of himself, but also of his buddy fighting beside him. We don't want yellow cowards in this Army. They should be killed off like rats. If not, they will go home after this war and breed more cowards. The brave men will breed more brave men. Kill off the G_ddamned cowards and we will have a nation of brave men."

....Thank you Mark for sending the link to me.

As you say, WT, the guy admits he's an idiot and then spouts radical lib talking points? The simple fact is that the current Army, like my Army, is filled with morons.

It's no different than any govt institution, from the MVD to Congress. If Obama is President, expect a tidal wave of this shit. The Lollypop Guild junta will try to take over Munchkinland.

Poor misguided young man. Doesn't he realize that being in Iraq is safer than being in some major US cities (Chicago, Detroit and Denver, to name a few)?
The war is not illegal. The part that everyone seems to forget is that at the end of the first Desert Storm, Saddam was given a book of rules he HAD to follow or we would be back--he broke the rules. He also funneled money to Al Qaeda and gave them safe refuge. There is Al Qaeda in Iraq. Then he hid in the desert like the coward he was in life. Plus the Iraqi people were crying for liberation from tyranny.
Look at all the good we've done for them and when this war is over, they will have their own country to run without fear and we will have a great ally.
This kid needs to stop listening to the liberal rhetoric and just go do his job. If he doesn't, then it's a dishonorable discharge--plain and simple.

how about five years in the slammer for him?

If you take the King's shilling, then you dance to his tune.

"Soldier, shut up and SOLDIER!"

It is not an illegal war. The gulf war ended as a ceasefire and cessation of hostilities. Under conditions of UN mandates. The war would stop as long as Saddam complied with the mandates.

Bush had congressional approval and a UN majority to invade Iraq if Saddam did not comply with the latest UN mandate.

It seems these Kerry-Clones make up the facts as they go along.

He is now claiming compete stupidity because he came from a poor white family, seems to me I remember Hanoi John saying the EXACT same thing about a year and a half ago. Sure took him long enough to pick up on this.

But somehow he became a journalist in the Army and has gotten the idea he knows more than the Army.

No sympathy, a Court Martial a BCD and 20 years at Leavenworth, making small rocks out of big ones.

One more thing, Why does congress ALWAYS call these Malcontents and slackers to testify. They never want to hear from Soldiers who actually believe in what they are doing.

It still goes back to Duty, Honor, Country. We are better off with out him poisoning the ranks with his insubordination and sedition. Matthis Chiroux was never a conscript, he enlisted of his own free will.
Millions of us served by doing the dirty work our leaders found beneath them, many of my warrior brothers were drafted, we didn't like it but we stood our posts and did our duties as ordered. Not because of the legal or illegal issues of war but because our brethren had fallen in battle for the same cause we were figthing for. Freedom, not only our own but that of our ally.
I do believe what Samuel Adams had to say about the John Kerry's and the Matthis Chiroux's amongst us sums it up best.
"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."

I fully agree Mark, "No sympathy, a Court Martial a BCD and 20 years at Leavenworth, making small rocks out of big ones." I'd include certain members of Congress in that sentence also.

Instead Congress will welcome this malcontent Matthis Chiroux as one of their own.

So this guy is one-thousandth of one percent of the troops serving in the military, and he gets a press conference. And he is a journalist, with only a high school degree and he describes himself as badly educated. He is ready to lie for attention. Hell, he qualifies for Keith Olbermanns position.

It is amazing these days the unimportant people who get press conferences.

Another whiner and complainer from the left. I wonder how he would fair in a country like Iran or Syria. He should get on his hands and knees and thank G-d that he lives in a country that tolerates and, in this case, with Congressional approval encourages this un-American behavior.

A GI can blame his/her recruiter during their first enlistment but once you reenlist, it's all your own doing.

This clown is just trying to make a name for himself. He'll be used by the Democrats and liberals until the no longer need him. Speaking of, has anyone heard anything of John Kerry's Swift Boat buddies who defended his actions during Vietnam? He used them and now their no longer heard from.

Hotspur, I bet your right, if girlie man Obama wins............grrrrr it makes me sick to think about. He hates our miltiary I can feel it and from the things he has said he wants to do.... very scary stuff to really weaken our country.

Posted by: Wild Thing at May 18, 2008 04:37 PM

Lynn LOL good one. Yes let's send him to Detroit or Chicago and see how safe he feels.

I wish these liberal weenies would stay out of our miltiary. It is not meant for half men, half way Americans. It is cut to the chase hard 100 percent manly and not for wimps like this.

Posted by: Wild Thing at May 18, 2008 04:40 PM

GUYK, that would be good.

Posted by: Wild Thing at May 18, 2008 04:44 PM

Rick, good way to put it. My guess is also that this guy will do this kind of thing the rest of his life. Run away from responsibility.

Posted by: Wild Thing at May 18, 2008 04:45 PM

Mark, ditto that. The NEVER want to hear from those that believe in what they are doing.

Posted by: Wild Thing at May 18, 2008 04:48 PM

Jack, perfect quote, thanks.

Posted by: Wild Thing at May 18, 2008 04:51 PM

Tom, it is all upside down and backwards. The cowards to the media and our leftie senators are the heroes and the good guys, the real heroes are occupiers and evil. grrrrrrrr

Posted by: Wild Thing at May 18, 2008 04:54 PM

Les, I agree, and this whole Winter Soldier 11 thing is vile to even do it. Our tax dollars at work as they sit and listen to these jerks.

Posted by: Wild Thing at May 18, 2008 04:56 PM

BobF I agree he is going to be their poster boy probably. Use his testimoney when the Generals do their report again etc. sheesh
