I'm wondering: Why is it OK for these people to name their kids "Muhammad"? That should be worse than a teddy bear because it's a human who could one day potentially go on to (dare I say it?) worship Jesus.

Snowrider--I was wondering exactly the same thing. However, I expect it's because one isn't supposed to make an image of Mohammed. Jews and Christians aren't supposed to make graven images, either, don't forget.

Jack--so you agree she should be arrested? Bah. You don't know that "she was trying to do the liberal thing" or that she had "full knowledge" of what she was getting into. If she had, she wouldn't have behaved as she did.

One thing to remember is that it was the children she taught who suggested the name. If anyone should have known better, it's the kids who had been raised in the "Religion of Peace".

Trish I never agreed that Gillian Gibbons, a British teacher, who was sentenced to 15 days in a Khartoum jail after being convicted of insulting Islam deserved the sentence.
I just reiterated the fact that she being a British subject, an expat if you will, knew the risks involved in the moslem country.

As an ex oil patch worker I spent an awful lot of time around the esteemed muzzy over the course of 19 years, I have had my own share of problems with them, I had friends in all the middle eastern countries, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAR, The Sudan and Yemen, trust me they all say the same thing, muzzies hate the infidel. Myself was involved in a 6 month long battle with the muzzies in Indonesia over my visa there on Sumatra.

That said, the problem is the rest of the world is too chickenshit to confront evil when they see it, just like now.

All my expat friends and I had lined up the British consulate as our contact in case of trouble. Do you know why? You can rot in some shithole waiting on the likes of a Madelein Albright or a Condoleeza Rice to get you released especially with a eunuch president like Jimmy Carter. Or have you forgotten the 158 Iranian hostages kept for 444 days?

Whereas at that time the British Consulates had the most clout, it looks to me like they not only have lost their country to the muzzies, they have also lost their bargaining power.

Back to the subject at hand Trish, Gillian Gibbons is a teacher of young children in a country with a known reputation for stringent adherence to a particular interpretation of islamic teaching. How the F' does she and her employer, not know that calling a toy Mohammed would be problematic?

This isn't another wet behind the ears middle-class student from the closetted English suburbs taking "a year out" to teach English as a foreign language; she is 54 years old!!! How could she reach that age and be so dumb? Her "ignorance" and "innocence", of which we have heard so much, is a sad indictment of a general level of crass stupidity and ignorance about the islamic enemy all around the world, especially in the United States.

So Trish I do know somthing about the subject and I say to you that she did know what she was getting in to. You see the liberal thing was to let the kids set the agenda not the teacher, which she did, she screwed up big time. Ask any body who has seen the battlefield, they'll confirm the fact that that 7 year old will kill you just as dead as that 20 year old and they are the pawns of their parents. No cigar lady.

I think she is just another freaking liberal like most of teachers are, sorry to teachers but that pretty much is a fact. Not all but most are liberals and this one I would bet that she is as well. If not then she is totally stupid and should not be a teacher.

This teacher was wrong, period, she is like a captain of a ship and it is her responsibility to take charge, to protect her class and guide them. Only a liberal would make excuses for her lack of brains in what she allowed to happen.

It doesn't matter if it was a students idea or hers, she allowed it. The blame lies totally on her shoulders. Liberals are famous for passing the buck so to speak and if she does try that approach to blame a student for naming the bear. Well then I think the teacher needs to find another profession, because she is not worthy of guiding the young lives put in her care.

Does what she did deserve this kind of response from the death cult. No, but that is what they do and are about. It had to be expected. I'm sure though, that this incident was beneficial in some ways in that it helped to wake up some more people to the insanity.
