Video: Fred Thompson on MTP, says he doesn’t support the Human Life Amendment

posted at 2:01 pm on November 4, 2007 by Bryan

Sen. Fred Thompson appeared on Meet the Press today and, Clintons take note, had to answer some tough questions asked by host Tim Russert. He discussed the crisis in Pakistan, his support for concealed carry laws on university campuses, and other issues. A little over midway through the interview, Russert queried Thompson on the Human Life Amendment and whether he supports it or not. He doesn’t. He favors letting states set abortion law. Around that nugget, though, Thompson touted his 100% pro-life voting record and ends this clip with his opinion on when life begins.
As David Brody says, Fred is falling back on federalist principles to arrive at the point of being pro-life but not supporting the HLA. The question is, will this become a problem with social conservatives?

Fred Thompson Aide Resigns Post After Drug-Dealing History Exposed
Monday, November 05, 2007

A close ally to Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson resigned his post Monday as a top campaign bundler, FOX News has learned, a day after his drug-dealing history was revealed.

Phil Martin, a businessman who has lent Thompson his Cessna to fly around the country, was one of four campaign co-chairman for the ‘08 Republican candidate. The Washington Post reported Sunday that Martin also posted a guilty plea in 1979 for selling 11 pounds of marijuana and a no contest plea in 1983 for cocaine trafficking and conspiracy.

Just like hillbillery cuddling with criminals, fred is trying to keep pace.

Well Danny boy, then you can vote for Hillary thats your choice. Or you can vote for the moron Ron Paul who will be a third party candidate and that will surely get Hillary elected.

This is not a one issue Race. I've really got nothing against F'njellicals but you can't be so myopic as to think that there is a candidate out there that is 5'vers on all your issues.

Go Fred! From all the negative news about him, seems like he has certain parties very nervous.
Tis a good thing.

Wow, Fred had an advisor who committed crimes 25 years ago. Gee Dan, Hillary has an advisor who committed crimes within the past 5 years. Why, if I as a military member stole classified documents and destroyed them, I would be residing in the Federal Penitentiary in Fort Leavenworth.

Danny, if you've read the Constitution you will see that States Rights hold a higher prominence than the Federal government. Unfortunately, since the Civil War, the Federal Government has been trampling States Rights...I bet you believe the Civil War was fought over Slavery. Since their is no mention, not even a hint, of abortion in the Constitution, it should be set by the states and except for the most liberal states, it will be outlawed.

Wait a minute Dan, you're not a Ron Paul supporter, are you?

Guess I am too old. I have heard this "I am a Conservative" before and been disappointed. The man sitting in the White House now is an example. His father is an example The other three Republican front runners are examples.

Of the four frontrunners, Fred Thompson is my choice by far. But I am at a point where I just don't trust very many politicians anymore. Right now my big hesitation about Thompson is his membership in the Council of Foreign Relations.

As this election year really heats up it will only get more confusing. Spin will be in full speed mode as will the attacks. We will be wrung thru both the washer and dryer as voters. I hope I have someone to vote for rather than having to vote against someone else.

Wow! Well Marky boy, your absurd accusations show your all right with flip floppers. Did you vote for kerry?

BobF, you seem to be the rupaul supporter not me. Read up on rupaul. You sound like his campaign manager since he is the biggest "states rights" supporter and voted to allow any adult to take your child across state lines to recieve an abortion. Wake up.

To say I support hillbillery is ignorance plain and simple. I am well aware of the clintons criminal friends. I help to expose them.

I supported Tancredo for his stand on Illegals until he went wishy washy on Iraq. Right now I'm still waiting for the candidate I will support to shine through. One thing for sure though, it isn't fred.

TomR, Excellent! I think I'm swimming in the same shark infested waters you are. When will we have a true republican and not have to gag when we vote for a rino at the polls?

Posted by: Dan at November 7, 2007 02:10 PM

One more thing, Bobf, What is the second amendment about? Where in the constitution does it say a state has a right to take this right away or impose restrictions on us? Until recently, your second amendment rights ended where D.C. began. Kerryfornia still makes you a criminal if you take a gun across their state lines without notifying the athourities or have a clip that holds more than 10 rounds.

Also, I'm going to give you a history lesson. "States rights" were part of the reason for the civil war. SOME STATES WANTED TO KEEP SLAVERY and they knew a republican president WOULD NOT allow it. The racist donk party, which started the KKK, used "states rights" to try and keep slavery.

Looks like my last comment was edited. I had some links to the "Emancipation Revelation Revolution " but for some reason they weren't allowed in my comment. You'll have to do a seach if you want to watch them

Posted by: Dan at November 7, 2007 03:46 PM

Dan please calm down.

First of all I had to take the last comment you made and take the links out of it. There were just too many and that is why it did not go through automatically. It comes to my server as spam so that is why I had to take them out of your last comment.

OK now I am not pushing for anyone. I know who I am for and it has been Duncan Hunter from day one. But I also have posted on these people from our party that are running:
Fred Thompson..... my second choice
Ron Paul......I did one post about this nut case and that was all. I did it becauase there was something I wanted to share about the jerk that he had done and said in my blog.

As fas as any others I have not posted about Rudy, or McCain or Romney. I am not here to be used by any politician that is running and ONLY do the ones I want to show something about or what they have said. My choice to do that.

Your jumping on everyone over a simple post of a video reminds me of the followers of Ron Paul and it is hard to listen to a person that is on the attack. Dan we are all Republicans and should not be attacking like you are.

You don't like Fred Thompson you have made that perfectly clear. So take a deep breath and chill. He is not a rino like Rudy and that is a fact.

I will continue to post things said etc. by Hunter and or Thompson as often as I wish. If that offends you then just know that those are the two I can live with voting for.

Is Thompson perfect, heck no. None of the ones running are Reagan or Theodore Roosevelt. No one ever will be.

Yankeemom, yes he does. I thought the video showing his ad was ok.

Posted by: Wild Thing at November 7, 2007 03:49 PM

Bob your absolutely right. Thank you.

Posted by: Wild Thing at November 7, 2007 03:50 PM

Tom, thank you and I agree...."Of the four frontrunners, Fred Thompson is my choice by far.".... I am still praying and pulling for Hunter, I just can''t throw him to the wind yet. But I also see the reality of what has been happening and I don't understand it, but so many are just ignoring him ( Hunter) and he is so awesome.

Posted by: Wild Thing at November 7, 2007 03:54 PM

Mark I agree so much, it cannot be a one issue race that will kill us and our party and the left will win for sure. Thank you.

Posted by: Wild Thing at November 7, 2007 03:56 PM

Wow! One of your posters calls a Black man a "boy" and I'm on the attack? Ok, I have see it now.

Posted by: Dan at November 7, 2007 05:04 PM

Dan that is not true, the poster said...Danny Boy. You mean the words Danny Boy is an attack? That makes no sense at all.
So without being literal and without saying you are a black man are we supposed to only assume you are a black man. I could care less if you are black or poka dot, I do care what the person is on the inside. Stop making something out of nothing.

Posted by: Wild Thing at November 7, 2007 05:18 PM

Is my name "Danny boy?" You don't see that as an attack? It's justified because "you" didn't know? Well my friends who read this know. Something out of nothing? Ok!I see clearly.

Posted by: Dan at November 7, 2007 05:58 PM

Dan, honestly if someone called me Chrissie girl I would not be offended. I am a girl, a woman and either one of those I am not offended by. Heck you can call me a broad and that would not offend me. I have had someone say once " you are one hell of a broad Chrissie". I wasn't offended in the least.

Looks like you have someone who talks the talk of a conservative but displays the actions of a left wing liberal victim.
