John Kerry Accepts $1M Swift Boat Bet

John Kerry Accepts $1M Swift Boat Bet

Sen. John Kerry, whose 2004 presidential campaign was torpedoed by critics of his Vietnam War record, said Friday he has personally accepted a Texas oilman's offer to pay $1 million to anyone who can disprove even a single charge of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

In a letter to T. Boone Pickens, the Massachusetts Democrat wrote: "While I am prepared to show they lied on allegation after allegation, you have generously offered to pay one million dollars for just one thing that can be proven false. I am prepared to prove the lie beyond any reasonable doubt."

Kerry, a Navy veteran and former prosecutor, said he was willing to present his case directly to Pickens, who provided $3 million to bankroll the group during Kerry's race against President Bush. Kerry said he would donate any proceeds to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

The senator said Pickens issued the challenge Nov. 6 in Washington, while serving as chairman of a 40th anniversary gala for American Spectator magazine.

In the letter, Kerry offered to travel to Dallas to meet with Pickens in a public forum or to invite him to come to Massachusetts. He suggested the two could visit the Paralyzed Veterans of America in Norwood to see firsthand how Pickens' money could be used to help veterans. A copy of the letter was provided to The Associated Press.

Wild Thing's comment........

Kerry will have to authorize the release of his service records in order to win the 1 million bucks. Fat chance that will happen though, Kerry is blowing smoke.

Like Kerry needs more money?
He's such a sack of burning dog doo on the front porch.
This man is a creep.
What is it with Dummycraps and having to have all the money?
They want us to share, but they won't share theirs.
How fair is that?
And just serving up food at a homeless shelter doesn't count.
Cabela's out here, just donated enough coats, hats and gloves/mittens and scarves to our homeless shelters here in Omaha--so many that there is enough for everyone who is homeless, including the children! No one will be cold this year.
Money talks, BS walks!
Everytime during the holidays, when we see the bell ringers, we give.
I just wish the bellringers were year round.

Lynn I agree, that would be great if they were out year round.

It's like you say, WT, he still has not released his SRB, which he promised he would do AFTER, the election ... and that was 3 years ago and everyone is still waiting.

He should just donate to the PVA and be done with it. But again he is nothing but an empty suit, and his promises are nothing that warmed over Bullshit.

His group almost destroyed a couple of the Swifties who came out and told the world what Kerry really was. All of the Swifties have the facts to back up what they said, kerry has nothing but empty rhetoric.

Now that he made his big play it will be interesting to see how he weasels out of it.

Mark I agree with you, and I was worried about some of the Swifties the stress they were under had to be huge. They were in the right but stress is still hard with all the instant attention it had to be double hard to go throug for them.
Kerry I wish only lots of stress for him that is a whole differnt ballgame what he deserves.
