Thousands Gather In Houston For Police Lives Matter March

The Katy Rancher:

Clutching a homemade sign bearing the photos of his great grandfather and grandfather, both former law enforcement officers, in his 11 year-old hands and wearing his grandfather’s police hat, Adrian Cisneros said joining thousands of fellow Houstonians at Saturday’s Police Lives Matter March was more than worth the early wake up call.

“My great grandfather and grandfather were cops that passed away while they were cops. I had to be here to show my support and that we care,” Adrian said.

Little Adrian could have spoken for any of the estimated crowd in excess of 10,000 that gathered along a service road on the far northwest side for the march dedicated to the memory of Harris County Sherriff’s Deputy Darren Goforth, gunned down at a Cypress area gas station on August 28, and to show support for law enforcement officers in general. Thousands wore blue “Police Lives Matter” t-shirts and many carried signs with messages like “Love One Another: In Memory of Deputy Goforth” and “United We Goforth” at the peaceful march that was organized via social media.

Lead organizer, Cypress resident Charlie Diggs, said the gathering was important because it helps to assure law enforcement officers shaken by the brazen killing of Goforth that the majority of citizens are in their corner.

“If our law enforcement officers keep getting killed, they’re gonna start quitting whether they want to or not,” said Diggs while addressing the crowd from a makeshift stage in the bed of a red pick-up. “Anybody can say they want to serve and protect, but guess what? Their family will say ‘You’re done. You’re not doing it anymore.’ We have to let them know that they have our support.”

Surprise. This was covered by at least two MSM stations. I would have thought they would ignore it.
