Paying the NFL to salute our troops?

Paying the NFL to salute our troops?

Sen. Jeff Flake (R., Ariz.) is questioning why taxpayers had to subsidize NFL events honoring America’s troops. The Pentagon gave the NFL, which has revenues of nearly $10 billion, $5.4 million between 2011 and 2014 for pregame and halftime events that appeared to be put on by the football teams themselves.

The Hill reports: “It is troubling to learn that taxpayer funds are being used to compensate these teams for honoring and recognizing U.S. military service members,” Flake said Monday to Defense Secretary Ashton Carter and Chief of the National Guard Bureau Gen. Frank Grass.

Wild Thing's comment.......

So it seems not much true support for our awesome troops unless they the owners of the teams can make money on it.

And, the stupid American public thought the NFL was honoring our men and women in the Armed Forces. Boy, did they put it over on us.

Well, this sure spoils my admiration of the NFL for honoring the troops. If I find out Jerry Jones has been receiving tax money for doing this then the Cowboys just lost a fan.

I sure as hell hope NASCAR hasn't been doing this also.
