Megyn Kelly reported that Marines were ordered by the state department to remove clips and surrender weapons before leaving the Yemen Embassy. She reports that it is unprecedented, backed up by Jack Keene. Marines under that order are furious.

No operational USMC weapons left behind in Yemen embassy evacuation

Marine Times

The Marine security detachment guarding the U.S. Embassy in Sanaa, Yemen left no operational weapons behind as troops evacuated the country, a senior Marine official with knowledge of the movement told Marine Corps Times.

Officials with the Sanaa airport told the Associated Press earlier today that Houthi rebels seized more than 25 official U.S. vehicles in the wake of the hasty departure of embassy staff, some with personal weapons left inside.

Pentagon spokesman Col. Steve Warren told reporters that the embassy's Marine security guard detachment destroyed larger weapons, including machine guns, and added that he believed they had turned over personal weapons to Yemeni officials because they could not take them on commercial flights.

But the Marine official, who asked that he not be identified because he was unauthorized to discuss the situation, said no working Marine weapons, whether crew-served or personal rifles and sidearms, were seized or handed over as the troops departed.

"No Marines handed over a functional weapon to anybody," the official said.

Each weapon was made inoperable before the Marines' departure, the official said. It was not clear, he said, whether the Marines damaged the weapons' barrels, removed rifle bolts, or taken other steps to render them unusable.

At this point, the official said, a contingent of about 100 Marines with Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Central Command has left the country via air transportation from the airport at Sanaa.

The Marine Corps has clarified what Marines did under State Department orders in Yemen following the evacuation of the U.S. embassy.

Crew served weapons were destroyed at the embassy, while Marines’ personal weapons were “rendered inoperable” at the airport, and their destroyed components were left behind.

The Marine Corps does not dispute the reporting that CENTCOM is outraged over weapons being rendered inoperable.

Here’s the statement from the Marine Corps:

The Marine Security Force left the American embassy in Yemen for the movement to the airfield as part of the “ordered departure” with only personal weapons. All crew served weapons were destroyed at the embassy prior to movement. None of them were ‘handed over’ in any way to anyone. The destruction of weapons at the embassy and the airport was carried out in accordance with an approved destruction plan.

Upon arrival at the airfield, all personal weapons were rendered inoperable in accordance with advance planning. Specifically, each bolt was removed from its weapons body and rendered inoperable by smashing with sledgehammers. The weapons bodies, minus the bolts, were then separately smashed with sledgehammers. All of these destroyed components were left at the airport — and components were scattered; no usable weapon was taken from any Marine at Sana’a airport.

Wild Thing's comment...........

Another foreign policy triumph by Obama. Marines are taught: NEVER SURRENDER YOUR WEAPON! So now we have Obama's State Dept. telling our troops what to do. sheesh

Just like in Egypt years back when the riots took place to topple Mubarak. The Ambassador ordered that the Marines not be issued ammunition which she denied doing. But the Marines charged with guarding the embassy said differently. Now, who we going to believe? The State Department or the men who actually have the empty weapons in their hands? Twenty six years in the military taught me to believe the troops on site, not the "official" statements.

obama copying Jimmy Carter. In 1979 Carter ordered the embassy guards not to use their weapons and to surrender the Teheran embassy. Now in 2015 obama orders the embassy guards to surrender their weapons. Weak, and dishonest, presidents surrendering in the face of muslim gangsters.

Meanwhile in London. In the early 80's Ghaddhfi had his embassy faced with protesters. Someone fired from the embassy and a policewoman was killed. The Brits did nothing about it because they followed international law that states embassies are representative of their mother country and cannot be entered except by invitation. muslims do not obey international law, nor human rights. So muslims attack foreign embassies with impunity.
