Shakeup in Michele Bachmann's Campaign.... Manager Ed Rollins and Her Campaign’s Number Two Man David Polyansky....

Big shakeup in the Michele Bachmann Campaign last night.

Bachmann’s Campaign Manager Ed Rollins is stepping down and will continue in an advisory role. But he will no longer be part of the day-to-day management of the campaign. In the video above, Rollins cited his age and health as reasons why he cannot continue.

However, Bachmann is also losing her campaign’s number two man in David Polyansky:

Rollins is now 68 years old, and served as National Campaign Director for President Ronald Reagan’s 1984 re-election campaign that won 49 out of 50 states.

Rollins said Bachmann is “still in this thing” and is now the “third” candidate. “Legitimately, it’s a Romney-Perry Race.”

Politico

On the heels of our report that Michele Bachmann campaign manager Ed Rollins is stepping back into an advisory role, citing health concerns, comes word that his deputy, David Polyansky, is leaving the campaign.

"I wish Michele nothing but the best, and anyone who underestimates her as a candidate does so at their own peril," Polyansky told POLITICO.

But a GOP source familiar with the situation said that Polyansky had "strategic differences on the path forward" with the candidate, who has struggled to gain traction in the last few weeks.

Polyansky and Rollins led the team that brought Bachmann to her Ames Straw Poll win in Iowa, along with a handful of others like veteran pollster Ed Goeas. It wasn't immediately clear who was taking over the top two day-to-day slots.

Bachmann is known for having had an unusually large number of staffers from her congressional office depart in a short time frame, although a campaign spokeswoman said they'd always planned on restructuring.

Wild Thing's comment.........

Wows! Ed Rollins really stabbed her in the back with his comment. It speaks to the kind of person that Ed Rollins is that he would dump on her both in terms of compensatory support as well as badmouthing her chances in public on the same day.

Michele is a good person and does not deserve that.

This shows the backstabbing and politics behind the scenes by staffers. These are the people who practice dirty politics. These are also the people who write the details that are in laws and regulations. They are like an unelected second tier of the Congress and presidental administrations. These are the people that make make up govt. bureaucracy. They can be very dirty and self serving.

I really like Michele Bachmann. However, I don't think she stands a chance in this primary. She cannot draw the votes or support that Perry and Romney can. If Sarah Palin enters the race Bachmann will really be left in the dust. It might be better for her as well as conservatives if she would drop out of the primary now.

Tom, your so right, and I forget that about these people that do the dirty tricks and the influence they have in the laws and regulations.

I like Michele too and I agree about her not really having a chance to win the primary.
