Arlington A Tribute

The music is Trace Adkin's "Arlington".

I never thought that this is where I'd settle down,
I thought I'd die an old man back in my hometown,
They gave me this plot of land, me and some other men,
for a job well done.

There's a big white house sits on a hill just up the road,
The man inside he cried the day they brought me home,
They folded up a flag, and told my mom and dad, 'We're proud of your son'.

And I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property,
I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company,
I'm thankful for those thankful for the things I've done,
I can rest in peace, I'm one of the chosen ones,
I made it to Arlington.

I remember daddy brought me here when I was eight,
We searched all day to find out where my granddad lay,
And when we finally found that cross,
He said, 'Son this is what it cost, to keep us free'.
Now here I am a thousand stones away from him,
He recognized me on the first day I came in,
And it gave me a chill, when he clicked his heels, and saluted me.

And I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property,
I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company,
And I'm thankful for those thankful for the things I've done,
I can rest in peace, I'm one of the chosen ones,
I made it to Arlington.

And every time I hear, twenty-one guns,
I know they brought another hero home, to us.

We're thankful for those thankful for the things we've done,
We can rest in peace, 'cause we were the chosen ones,
We made it to Arlington, yea, dust to dust
Don't cry for us, we made it to Arlington.

Amen sayeth JOHN 15:13, "Greater no love than this, than a man who lays down his life for a friend." FREEDOM IS NOT FREE NOR EVER WILL BE!

That song and the Wall just makes everything surreal. But that whole damn thing was surreal, an alternate universe, another dimension in time. Sometimes you ask did all this really happen or is this just another bad dream, til you wake up and discover, yes it did and nobody came out unscathed. And now they are re writing the history of this War as if it didn't need to happen and was all for greed. I wish they would tell me what Vietnam had that we here didn't have and we went there to steal it, it seems to me, at least we were told this, they asked for help and we decided to help them, to be free. And somehow it all got screwed up. And we got the blame for it.

Darth and Mark thank you so much.

Darth, thank you for the verse.

Mark, thank you for sharing, I really appreciate it. Yes they asked to be free from under communisim and asked for our help and we gave the most precious of all things, our brave Ameericans. The sacrifices will never be forgoten. never ever. OH sure there are some the jerks but they would not appreciate anything done to keep them safe or fight the enemy. People like myself, we all way out number them. Thank you Mark so much.
