Obama joins Wisconsin's budget battle, opposing Republican anti-union bill

Washington Post

MADISON, WIS.

Obama thrust himself and his political operation this week into Wisconsin's broiling budget battle, mobilizing opposition Thursday to a Republican bill that would curb public-worker benefits and planning similar protests in other state capitals.

Obama accused Scott Walker, the state's new Republican governor, of unleashing an "assault" on unions in pushing emergency legislation that would change future collective-bargaining agreements that affect most public employees, including teachers.

The president's political machine worked in close coordination Thursday with state and national union officials to get thousands of protesters to gather in Madison and to plan similar demonstrations in other state capitals.

"Some of what I've heard coming out of Wisconsin, where they're just making it harder for public employees to collectively bargain generally, seems like more of an assault on unions," Obama told a Milwaukee television reporter on Thursday, taking the unusual step of inviting a local TV station into the White House for a sit-down interview. "I think everybody's got to make some adjustments, but I think it's also important to recognize that public employees make enormous contributions to our states and our citizens."

Boehner wades into Wisconsin labor battle, backing GOP governor

The Hill

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) stepped into the heated labor debate in Wisconsin on Thursday, backing GOP Gov. Scott Walker's proposed reforms to collective bargaining rights.

Boehner released a statement on Thursday afternoon backing Walker and his package of aggressive labor reforms that would force increased contributions by state workers to benefits and pension plans, and limit collective bargaining rights for some.

“Republicans in Congress — and reform-minded GOP governors like Scott Walker, John Kasich and Chris Christie — are daring to speak the truth about the dire fiscal challenges Americans face at all levels of government, and daring to commit themselves to solutions that will liberate our economy and help put our citizens on a path to prosperity," Boehner said in a statement. "I’m disappointed that instead of providing similar leadership from the White House, the president has chosen to attack leaders such as Gov. Walker, who are listening to the people and confronting problems that have been neglected for years at the expense of jobs and economic growth."

The GOP Speaker referred specifically to an interview President Obama gave on Wednesday to Milwaukee television, in which he called the new law an "assault on unions." What's more, the Wisconsin chapter of the president's political arm within the Democratic National Committee (DNC), worked to promote rallies against the new law.

Boehner called on Obama to have the DNC stand down in Wisconsin.

"The White House has even unleashed the Democratic National Committee to spread disinformation and confusion in Wisconsin regarding the governor’s courageous actions," he said. "I urge the president to order the DNC to suspend these tactics."

Michele Bachmann weighs in on Wisconsin teacher sickout strike: 'It's a dereliction of duty'

.

Wild Thing's comment.........

The President of the United States sends his private mercenary army to attack the elected officials of one of the states !!!!

Once an organizer always an organizer. Agitation is Barry’s only real skill.

The people that are protesting are the ones destroying the economic base of America. Nothing but a bunch of leaches.

The Superintendent of Madison Schools makes $256,715 + $80+K BENEFITS!

The Governor of Wisconsin only makes $137,092.

Thank God for Speaker Boehner and Michele Bachmann , I hope more of our Republicans speak out about what Obama is doing.

Barack Obama,
During his Cairo speech, said:
"I know, too, that Islam has always been a part
Of America 's story."

AN AMERICAN
CITIZEN'S RESPONSE:

Dear Mr. Obama:

Were those
Muslims that were in America when the Pilgrims
First landed? Funny, I thought they were
Native American Indians.

Were those
Muslims that celebrated the first Thanksgiving
Day? Sorry again, those were Pilgrims and
Native American Indians.

Can you
Show me one Muslim signature on the United
States Constitution?

Declaration
Of Independence ?

Bill of
Rights?

Didn't
Think so.

Did
Muslims fight for this country's freedom from
England ? No.

Did
Muslims fight during the Civil War to free the
Slaves in America ? No, they did
Not. In fact, Muslims to this day are
Still the largest traffickers in human
Slavery. Your own half brother, a devout
Muslim, still advocates slavery himself, even
Though Muslims of Arabic descent refer to black
Muslims as "pug nosed slaves." Says a lot
Of what the Muslim world really thinks of your
family's "rich Islamic heritage," doesn't it Mr.
Obama?

Where were
Muslims during the Civil Rights era of this
Country? Not present.

There are
No pictures or media accounts of Muslims walking
Side by side with Martin Luther King, Jr. Or
Helping to advance the cause of Civil
Rights.

Where were
Muslims during this country's Woman's Suffrage
Era? Again, not present. In fact,
Devout Muslims demand that women are subservient
To men in the Islamic culture. So much so,
That often they are beaten for not wearing the
'hajib' or for talking to a man who is not a
Direct family member or their husband.
Yep, the Muslims are all for women's rights,
Aren't they?

Where were
Muslims during World War II? They were
Aligned with Adolf Hitler. The Muslim
Grand mufti himself met with Adolf Hitler,
Reviewed the troops and accepted support from
The Nazi's in killing Jews.

Finally,
Mr. Obama, where were Muslims on Sept. 11th,
2001? If they weren't flying planes into
The World Trade Center , the Pentagon or a field
In Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 people on
Our own soil, they were rejoicing in the Middle
East ... No one can dispute the pictures
Shown from all parts of the Muslim world
Celebrating on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and other
Cable news networks that day. Strangely,
The very "moderate" Muslims who's asses you bent
Over backwards to kiss in Cairo , Egypt on June
4th were stone cold silent post 9-11. To
Many Americans, their silence has meant approval
For the acts of that day.

And THAT, Mr.
Obama, is the "rich heritage" Muslims have here
In America ...

Oh, I'm sorry, I
Forgot to mention the Barbary Pirates.
They were Muslim.

And now we can
Add November 5, 2009 - the slaughter of American
Soldiers at Fort Hood by a Muslim major who is a
Doctor and a psychiatrist who was supposed to be
Counseling soldiers returning from battle in
Iraq and Afghanistan .

That, Mr. Obama
Is the "Muslim heritage" in America

EVERY AMERICAN
MUST READ THIS !!

Muslim Heritage, I don't think so

Texas Governor Rick Perry sent a letter of support to Gov. Walker from the Republican Governors. obama is increasingly stepping over the boundary between state and federal juridiction. Something may snap soon.

I thought the dems were the party of compassion, feel good ism. Today I saw a sign from one of the punk protestors, with a picture of Governor Walker with a set of cross haird right across his face. I think we should start looking for someone to blame. Like obama, didn't he say, " If they bring a knife, we bring a gun." Or the Commie AFL-CIO Trumpka who is ther for the sole purpose to incite violence. who is this dirt bag media going to blame when the violence breaks out. And how are we going to respond?

Darth, well done!!!!

Posted by: Wild Thing at February 18, 2011 11:45 PM

Gator, thank you for that.

Posted by: Wild Thing at February 18, 2011 11:47 PM

Tom, thank you for sharing about Gov. Perry doing that. That is great I am so glad. I wish more Gov. would show their support.

Posted by: Wild Thing at February 18, 2011 11:50 PM

Mark,oh my gosh, thanks for telling about what you saw. I agree Mark, today when I was watching some of the protests on TV I felt like any second there would be violence from those protesting and someone would seriously get hurt or worse. If that does happen the blood will be on obama's hands. But the media would still not blame him if that did happen.

I cannot believe that Obama's people thought that they could get away with this. This is standard tactics for Chicago politics from years past but have none of Whitehouse heard of cameras in cell phones! Tracing the buses takes no trick at all. Getting caught at the end of the week with the weekend news cycle coming up??? I thought that they had learned better than that in 1968.

We still can't impeach Barry but he is building momentum to hit bottom hard in 2012.
