Minnesota Vikings - Metrodome Roof Collapse

This is the roof of the Metrodome in Minneapolis collapsing under the weight of heavy snow early yesterday. The time-lapse video shows a breach occurring in the inflatable roof bringing it down. The Minnesota Vikings game against the New York Giants has been postponed until tonight, where they will play at Ford Field in Detroit at 7:00 PM.

St. Paul, Minn. — The snowstorm that dumped more than 20 inches of snow on parts of Minnesota brought down the roof of the Metrodome on Sunday morning.

Witnesses, including the security director at the nearby Holiday Inn Metrodome, said the roof is no longer visible above the dome's concrete bowl.

"We went up to the 14th floor to look at it. It looks kind of like a big dish of sugar," the director, Chris Cowles, said.

WOW! what a video! I hate to say this but that thundering sound before the rip gave me the creeps; sent me back to 9-11 :(

Wonder why they continue to use that inflatable roof. It has collapsed several times before.

Bob, wow, that is too cold to breath outside.

Jan, me too, it is really weird.

Tom, I agree, when this happened I was surprised they did not have a stronger type of roof.
