Obama: No Questions For The Press at Press Freedom Event

Here is video of President Obama signing the "Daniel Pearl Freedom of the Press Act" today at the White House, which instructs the State Department to keep up with Press Freedom violations around the world as a way to help evaluate Human Rights conditions.

At the end of the signing, some of the press present attempted to ask questions, to which Obama smiled and told them, "you can ask" - but then said he would not be taking any questions.

Obama refuses media questions ... after signing 'Freedom Of Press Act'

We just don't talk anymore........

Washington Examiner

Obama today signed the Daniel Pearl Freedom of the Press Act, a measure that gives the federal government an oversight role in tracking international press freedom issues. The pool-only event went down in the Oval, where Obama was asked if he would entertain some questions -- specifically about BP.

"Speaking of press freedoms," ventured Chip Reid of CBS News.
"You're certainly free to ask the question," Obama said. "I won't be answering, I'm not doing a press conference today, but we'll be seeing you in the course of the week."

Oh, right. Wednesday's press conference with visiting Mexican President Felipe Calderone. We hear it's two questions per side. Obama strictly limits his availability to spontaneous inquiry from journalists -- but we're still "free to ask."

Wild Thing's comment........

LOL and he is ironically a creation of the MSM. This man is digging his own political grave. Even liberal MSM’ers don’t like being treated like this. He has been dodging them for a while.

He should have just said......“This is freedom of the press event, so shut up and print what we tell you!”

When no questions are allowed, the press should just say:

"You can talk all you want but we're not listening and we're not recording it". and then leave.

We are living in a Stalinist/Orwellian nightmare.

you nailed that, WT, a Stalinist/Orwellian nightmare. What good is this bill/law going to do around the world, does it have to be approved by the UN. And the press can't ask any questions, then isn't the bill sort of useless.
