Obama Launches 'Great Outdoors Initiative

Breitbart

Barack Obama launched a new initiative Friday to conserve cherished land and encourage more Americans to enjoy the outdoors.
The president said the "America's Great Outdoors" program will involve a series of listening sessions throughout the nation to solicit an array of ideas.

Obama said conservation is an integral part of economic growth, and that his new program also will create jobs. He promised that it won't be a big federal program driven from Washington.

The initiative will be led by the heads of the Environmental Protection Agency, White House Council on Environmental Quality and departments of Agriculture and Interior. Obama is to receive a report by Nov. 15 outlining an action plan to both reconnect Americans to nature and enhance conservation efforts.

Eight departments and the White House Office of Management and Budget are to work with the initiative to "identify existing resources," and to align policies to meet the initiative's goals.

Obama laid out four main goals of the program:

First, we’re going to build on successful conservation efforts being spearheaded outside of Washington -- by local and state governments, by tribes, and by private groups -- so we can write a new chapter in the protection of rivers, wildlife habitats, historic sites, and the great landscapes of our country.

Secondly, we’re going to help farmers, ranchers, property owners who want to protect their lands for their children and their grandchildren.

Third, we’ll help families spend more time outdoors, building on what the First Lady has done through the “Let’s Move” initiative to encourage young people to hike and bike and get outside more often.

And fourth, we want to foster a new generation of community and urban parks so that children across America have the chance to experience places like Millennium Park in my own Chicago.

Wild Thing's comment........

Here we go with the ‘listening sessions’ again. Too bad he didn’t bother to ‘listen’ to the Tea Party demonstrators.

...reconnect Americans to nature and enhance conservation efforts.

ROTFL!!! The Obama regime is definitely the Mother of All Freakshows.

We will have to wait and see but..........this could be nothing more than a land grab to keep us from being able to use our resources.

"The initiative will be led by the heads of the Environmental Protection Agency, White House Council on Environmental Quality and departments of Agriculture and Interior."

If that doesn't scream "big federal program driven from Washington" I don't know what does!

The out doors is great and most Americans do enjoy it without his telling us to... his out doors is a golf course. Has OBAMA ever even been outdoors? And Osama’s cave in Afganistan doesn’t count.

Note that the list of people they're going to listen to didn't include sportsmen.

You're right WT. The first thing that came to my mind was "land grab". This is something else that's camouflaged to look like a bit of woodland scenery (literally) but is in fact more socialist actions.

This is a poorly disguised attack on energy exploration and hunters and fisherman. There will also probably be more restrictions on grazing by ranchers and harvesting by lumbermen. In other words, more Federal govt. control. The EPA is heading this program so you know there will be intense and costly regulatory laws enacted which will diminish our enjoyment of the great outdoors.

I agree with all of you above, this will be nothing but a land grab. Most of my state, Idaho, is already Federal land but we have people running for office that will fight to get those Fed lands back.

More loss of Rights, and private property being gobbled up by the government. Conservation my ass. There won't be a single privat property left when this Communist is done.

Thank you so much for all of your input, I really appreciate it. There are so many things I can only go by my gut feeling but I don't have all the knowledge about it. Thank you!

Definately a land grab.

The only two economically signficant "renewable " energy sources are hydro-electric power and geo-thermal power generation, both require land.

One hunderd thousand geo-thermal power generators around Yellow Stone would generate all of the energy that the United States uses. Running flat out they might also delay the next super-eruption of Yeallow Stone by a thousand years. A much greater effert would be required to vent enough heat to stop Yellow Stone. We also could not ship the power to somewhere to use it without new technology.

This is just one more effort of the thugs to head off solutions to the problems that the Eco-freaks are causing.

What old president fuckhead knows about the out doors could be stuffed in a flea's ass and it would rattle around like a BB in a box car.
