I would think the sudden forces upon his spine would crush is vertebrae. That's a problem pilots have when they eject and this guy's launch was much faster and he wasn't secured in like a pilot is.

I have doubts about this. It doesn't seem plausible. However, it is funny. And I have known jumpers crazy enough to do this.

Yeah good point BobF, afteral, Force = Mass x Acceleration and that is a real sudden change in the status quo that is from 0 to whatever velocity he reaches, definitely complies with Newton's 3 laws, ...a body at rest tends to remain at rest until acted on by an outside force. That is a sudden change all right. Isn't physics fun.

Other than that the guy's friggin nuts.

Not very plausable, imagine the compression fractures sustained not to mention the G-forces involved. After falling about 12 feet over 20 years ago I still feel it. I agree with all of you, it is funny though.

Hahha thanks everyone, I was not sure if it was for real or not. But I thought it was so funny.

Timing is Everything and I was Too Hard to Raise.

How about the board that was used? There is no way that board would stand the drop from the crane. It would have broke the board. That board is not strong enough to stand up to the sudden hit from that block. The board would not be able to bend fast enough to overcome the force of the block hitting it. Just would break in two. try it at home with a board and heavy object. Board will break.
