What did we ever do to deserve Harry Reid?
When the "manager's amendment" was passed in the dead of night, I pointed out that the wonks had yet to give it a good going over to discern what other surprises might lurk in the convoluted language used to obscure so much in the bill.
I'm sure you'll be happy to know that the wonks have not disappointed us.
Buried in the amendment is a bombshell; there will be no way to amend parts of Obamacare. Apparently, Reid wants to make this bill something like a royal decree where no one can change what has already been wrought.

Harry Reid hid some language in the health care bill that make parts of the bill repeal proof.
Senator Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) pointed out some rather astounding language in the Senate health care bill during floor remarks tonight. First, he noted that there are a number of changes to Senate rules in the bill–and it’s supposed to take a 2/3 vote to change the rules. And then he pointed out that the Reid bill declares on page 1020 that the Independent Medicare Advisory Board cannot be repealed by future Congresses:
There’s one provision that I found particularly troubling and it’s under section c, titled “limitations on changes to this subsection.”
and I quote — “it shall not be in order in the senate or the house of representatives to consider any bill, resolution, amendment, or conference report that would repeal or otherwise change this subsection.”
this is not legislation. it’s not law. this is a rule change. it’s a pretty big deal. we will be passing a new law and at the same time creating a senate rule that makes it out of order to amend or even repeal the law.
I'm not even sure that it’s constitutional, but if it is, it most certainly is a senate rule. i don’t see why the majority party wouldn’t put this in every bill. if you like your law, you most certainly would want it to have force for future senates.
Get that? No repeal, no amendments, no nothing. That part of Obamacare is as set in stone as the idea that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. It is unalterable - which, of course, means the entire bill is off limits.
The goal is to guard against the possibility that the GOP may win back the House and Senate some day and may wish to repeal or drastically alter Obamacare. In the dead of night, Harry Reid has turned the United States from a constitutional republic into a banana republic monarchy.

They held a vote regarding the Constitutionality of the bill and amazingly it passed. What a sham,....again.
The only way the Constitutionality of this bill will be tested is when it is brought before the SCOTUS.
I will be looking forward to that happening, and it can't happen too soon.
Harry Reid knows he is on the way out, he wishes to create a legacy of corruption and underhandedness that will stand forever. This man is beyond belief.

I heard one congressman from Texas say, as soon as this is passed they are filing with the Supreme Court.
This is the same body that said, they would have their lawyers look at it to make sure it passes the Constitution Test. Yet these Dumbbastards just voted to say, 'Oh yeah ' How many voted against it?

We now have a dictatorship in the govt. The sad thing is we voted it in. Well at least all the special interest groups voted it in. This leadership has a distinct distaste for The Constitution. They would like to, and are in the process of, destroying The Constitution.
The SCOTUS will be needed to return the limits of The Constitution to the govt. I don't trust the SCOTUS. I can only hope the right thing is done. Otherwise the alternative is a repeat of 1776 and 1861.

Just because they write in the bill that it cannot be changed does not mean it can't be changed. When "WE THE PEOPLE" start removing by any means necessary these socialist traitors to America, things will change including this so-called bill.

Now that we readers here are totally pissed off, I know that y'all have done as I have and written many long hand letters, sent many e-mails and made many phone calls to your Senators and Representatives. After all they do need to hear from us. The Senators are to make laws as their constituents direct them to. The Representatives are to represent us, and since they do not posess supernatural powers, must be told by us just how to represent them. Rather than tell my grandchildren that I did nothing, I have done much. I have called, I have written, and I have commented on their sites as well as the sites of the "friendlies". Sitting on our asses is what got us into this mess in the first place.
If you are of the sort that claim to not be involved in politics, you are lying to yourself. If you draw breath in the USA, you are involved in politics. If you have taken the stance that it is not important enough for your voice, you will reap what you have sown with your silence. No matter what, the same fate awaits each of us, however some of us will sleep well knowing that we did much more than sit around and bitch.

Well Frankly, you are right up til now. We are at the tipping point and as you say its time to fish or cut bait, or get out of the way. We are on the express train to socialism. Talking isn't working. So we are fast approaching Step 2. actual confrontation, because they are not listening.
It is time to remove our Consent from this government. From the Declaration of Independence, "and the Consent of the Governed". This is the next level. It is not now enough to complain, time for action to make them realize we mean what we say. Then comes the election. Then we will have reached Step 3. Why so long it takes the American people time to explore their options, once there at Step 3 the rest will come.
