Barbara Boxer ( D-Calif) Passes Climate Bill Without GOP
Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) discussed the outrageous move by the democrats
Senator Barbara Boxer Breaks Senate Committee Rules. The liberal California senator passed the dem’s cap-&-tax legislation out of committee without a single GOP member in attendance. This is against the rules and the first time it has ever happened.
The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee approved climate change legislation Thursday with no Republicans voting for the bill or even participating in the process.
With Republican boycotting the proceedings, Committee Chairman Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) relied on a little used interpretation of committee rules to move the legislation. Traditionally, two minority members are required to conduct committee business.
Boxer said that she passed the bill “in full accordance with long-standing committee and Senate rules.”
“This is not a procedure we wanted; it’s a procedure that’s available to us,” said Boxer. “The majority has to be able to do its work…otherwise the whole Senate could come to a screeching halt.”
Republicans called Boxer’s move the “nuclear option,” warning that it violated decades of committee precedent.
“I am here to appeal to you and the members of the committee,” Sen. Jim Inhofe, the top Republican on the committee, said in a brief statement. “In the history of this committee, we have not been able to find a time when the bill has been marked up without minority.”
Eleven Democrats voted for the bill, enough to give the legislation a majority of the 19 members on the committee.
Montana Sen. Max Baucus was the only Democratic to vote against the bill, citing concerns about the agriculture provisions included in the legislation.
But Baucus vowed to use his post as chairman of the Senate Finance Committee to pass a climate bill.
“I’m going to work to get climate change legislation that gets 60 votes through the U.S. Senate and signed into law,” he said.
Republicans asked Boxer to delay the hearing by several weeks to allow the Environmental Protection Agency to conduct an additional study on the economic ramifications of the bill.
Boxer and committee Democrats dismissed the request as a delay tactic, saying that the agency had already completed sufficient analysis of the bill. On Tuesday, a top EPA official came to a hearing to answer questions from committee members. No Republicans attended.
“The absence of the Republicans during the EPA’s presentation was a clear message that their criticism of the EPA analysis was not a substantive one,” said Boxer.
Wild Thing's comment.......
Rep. Barbara Boxer, chairman of the Senate Environment & Public Works Committee, moved quickly to pass the bill, which for the first time would set mandatory limits on heat-trapping gases, without any of the seven GOP senators on the panel present.
So much for bipartisanship! The rino's and left have put tyrants in charge of our gov't. The communists takeover of America is still going on full force. Some day the public will realize that the Democratic Party is really the communists party and they have been taken in.
Cap and Trade, AND Health Care are only about P-O-W-E-R for the Left. America IS the most powerful Nation on this Earth, and IS therefore their most important target to control. They must be defeated, and their aggressive organization rendered useless.
America is a country where the politicians might want to rethink doing things like this. There are over 200,000,000 firearms in this country. The last year has seen ammunition and weapons flying off the shelf.
The line is getting crossed and they ought to start looking in history books at what happens to fascist dictators when the people get enough fill.

Again, liberal democrats don't want democracy, they dispise democracy! Because they are the elite and know better than the "common man". The rules, the constitution are not for them!! They know better; The end justifies the means. I've seen it all my life, heard it all my life, and now this mentality is finally arrived at the white house and congres. It does not surprise me one bit.

While I do not approve of the Democrats passing this, (or most other), bill; I am more pissed at the Republicans who knew that the dems would keep on keeping on while they boycotted them. What a bunch of lazy bastards we have for politicians. They only effort they expend is that which is in their own interest. If the Republicans hadn't boycotted, they could have shut this down, or at least delayed it.

It just goes to show you, they want to control every little aspect of our lives. This is NOT about Mother Earth and how we can protect her. It's about money, greed and power. They are in cohoots with the devil. Do you know how expensive this is going to be for those living at or below the poverty line? We ought to be able to turn around and sue them should we be foreclosed on because our utility bills got beyond where we could pay for them.
I'm wondering how unconstitutional this is...

Democrats rule congress with an iron fist but when Republicans had control of congress, they had to make nice as much as they can. We need Conservatives in Congress who have a set of brass kahonas and will play by the rules the Democrats have established.

These little known rules that the Democrats use to get their way. Why didn't the Repubs use them when they were in the majority? Because the Repubs played nice like BobF states.
Just a few decades ago, most of the Dems did play fairly nice. Many of them were from the South and were more conservative than today's Rinos. The Congress has shifted left drastically. The Democrat leadership is totally socialist/Marxist with the goal of obtaining and keeping complete control of power in America. To do so they need to accomplish two things, destroy The Constitution and have enough ignorant people vote for them. They have almost accomplished those two needs.

Tom said, "Many of them were from the South and were more conservative than today's Rinos." I can assure you that my lifelong, North Carolina, Democrat parents were more conservative than the Rinos. They voted for every Democrat from FDR to Jummy Carter except McGovern. They had problems with Bill Clinton but let his Baptist church membership sway them. Were they alive today they would be appalled at Pelosi, Boxer, and Reid and all the rest. Their Democratic Party has turned upside down. Even Carter and FDR didn't operate like these Democrats do.

Regardless of whether we play nice, or boycott it really doesn't matter. The have a majority in the House and Senate. They don't need our vote to pass anything.
If a bill is held up it's because of the Bluedogs not the Republicans all the Republicans can do is vote when the Blue dogs decide to let their voices be heard.
What has kept these bills from becoming law is the conservative democrats.
Except for the Rinos we have some pretty good people in Washington but right now they are useless. Yes it is there fault but also we deserve some of the blame too. How many people do you know didn't vote last time. I know quite a few right here on my street.
With vigilance you get liberty, with apathy you get oppression. This is where we are at.

Remember Remember poem
Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...
I wonder if Hassan was told to act on November 5 to divert attention from Democrat skullduggery. Dust off the movie V and remember remember.
Guy Fawkes & the Gunpowder Plot
Words of "Remember Remember" refer to Guy Fawkes with origins in 17th century English history. On the 5th November 1605 Guy Fawkes was caught in the cellars of the Houses of Parliament with several dozen barrels of gunpowder. Guy Fawkes was subsequently tried as a traitor with his co-conspirators for plotting against the government. He was tried by Judge Popham who came to London specifically for the trial from his country manor Littlecote House in Hungerford, Gloucestershire. Fawkes was sentenced to death and the form of the execution was one of the most horrendous ever practised (hung ,drawn and quartered) which reflected the serious nature of the crime of treason.
Hung, drawn, and quartered. That would do it, even if it should be hanged, not hung.

Barbara Boxer is not doing well by the voters here in California and hopefully will be kicked out next year.......this is just another nail in the coffin...can hardly wait for the next election

I keep hoping the Blue Dogs will fight this
and come to their senses that it is NOT
the majority that want it. They need to
realize they will be voted out, I sure hope
they have their voters telling them that.
