Obama's Socialized Medicine Bill Contains Menu Requirements

House health care bill contains menu requirements

The Washington Times

Tucked inside Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s 1,990-page health care reform bill that was unveiled Thursday is a requirement for chain restaurants to post caloric information on their menus.

Pages 1511-1519 of the bill outline the new laws for restaurants, mandating any restaurants operating in 20 or more locations post caloric information “prominently” on menus in a way that's “designed to enable the public to understand, in the context of a total daily diet, the significance of the caloric information that is provided on the menu.”

That means all the big-name chains, like Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and McDonald’s will need to post calorie counts next to their offerings, even on their drive-thru menus.

The government will also ensure that vending machines show calorie counts, as well. The bill says that anyone who operates 20 or more vending machines “shall provide a sign in close proximity to each article of food or the selection button that includes a clear and conspicuous statement disclosing the number of calories contained in the article.”

Wild Thing's comment.......

What is the profit margin of restaurants? Seems I heard it is very slim. What are they trying to do? Put them out of business? It is going to cost food establishments a lot of money to change and print all these menus and info sheets.
To compensate they will just increase menu prices...again.

What is next, government mandated menus, this is what you can eat and this is what you cant.

Its coming.. and that’s why I am so TICKED OFF at this push for govt health care.. its not about health.. its about total control of our lifestyles.

That is so true! Why are we letting this take hold in our country? If you want to eat light, fine, it's your right, but every once in awhile, you need a Quarterpounder with cheese or chicken nuggets. God didn't want you to NOT enjoy your life. If I want something, I go and have it. Sure, I'm no Kate Moss, but who cares at my age? I've been through the battles and the wars and earned every one of my battle scars! It's my life and that's what they can't have!

You are right in saying that it is about total control of our lifestyles, and in effect our lives.

The people who rely on MSM publications and Television/Radio, never hear this side of the story. Any reference to the totality of control, is ignored or passed over very quickly.

This is true in the case of all the actions taken by this Administration so far. People do not see or want to see the long range ramifications of all that is going on here.

We have a population made up of people who want someone else to do their thinking for them, so they can get on with the "fun"things. Make it easy for me is their attitude.

Then when the results come in and it is too late, they are shocked, seek to blame some one else. It is a vicious cycle.

Thank God we have the Internet and Sites like yours that give a forum for discussion and investigation as to what is really going on.

Thanks Wild Thing.

Beyond Absurd to think this will work. "You MUST take a blue pill on monday, a red one on tuesday, two yellow ones on wednesday..... or face a firing squad. Any Questions, no? Das ist gut!!"

It is taking hold because 52 Million Americans elected a Communist, all for the proverbial Free Lunch.

But the signs are just the beginning. Camera's will be next to see who exactly is buying this stuff from the Vending company. If Life style changes don't happen, then their will be a fine attached if you frequent the machine too much.

Total control is exactly what this is all about.
