Harkin Health Care Event Erupts in Shouting Match (Stop the Government takeover of your life!)

DES MOINES

A health care event sponsored U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin erupted into a shouting match Saturday afternoon, when opponents of health-care reform yelled pointed questions and criticisms to the Democratic senator.

It echoed other health care events sponsored by members of Congress around the country in recent days that have been disrupted by protestors, although no one was arrested at Saturday’s event.

Uniformed police officers were present as roughly 200 people turned out to see Harkin at an inner-city health care center to voice their opinions or ask questions about health care.

“This is not health reform, this is control, control over our lives,” one unidentified man shouted from the audience.

It was only one of several such confrontations during the raucous forum. Moments before the event began, Harkin told reporters that opponents of health-care reform were using “scare tactics” in an effort to stop it.

Denver

“A supporter of health care reform, left, who did not want to give her name, pushes forward to rip a sign out of Kris McLay’s hands outside the Stout Street Clinic visited by Nancy Pelosi.” (THE DENVER POST | RJ SANGOSTI)

Denver's Organizing for America local chairman blasts a tea party protester with his bullhorn. Organizing for America is, of course, Barack Obama's active campaign website.

Missouri

A "Coffee" hosted by Missouri's 5th District Congressional Representative R. Emmanuel Cleaver where he tells the public that there, "Is no health care bill" while holding H.R. 3200 up for all to see how stupid this statement really is to those listening who came to talk about the bill. The result is predictable by his own constituents- a chant starts to "Vote him out!"

Cleaver is using the technicality that there is no one final bill ready to be voted on as an excuse to dodge the huge issues connected to the Health Care debate. Cleaver knows there is a Democrat Bill that is on the table that is the centerpiece of this debate.

Wild Thing's comment.......

Just Friday Obama was claiming the economy was recovering but then yesterday he said the economy won't recover until there is Socialized Healthcare.

Harkin told reporters that opponents of health-care reform were using “scare tactics” in an effort to stop it.

Harkin, why do you call people reading quotes from the proposed health care act "scare tactics"? Stuff like:

Pg 469 - Community Based Home Medical Services =Non-profit orgs. which translates to:
"Hello, ACORN Medical Services here!!"

Pg 494-498 Government will cover Mental Health Services including defining, creating, rationing those services.

PG 621 Lines 20-25 Government will define what quality means in health care. Since when does government know about quality?

PG 801 Sec 1751 The government will decide which health care conditions will be paid. Say RATION!

Perhaps YOU should read it before you accuse people of using "scare tactics", Harkin.

Regarding Missouri's R. Emmanuel Cleaver .....This is their new mantra “There is no health care BILL”....Scott of Georgia used this also. Basically, they’re trying to make everyone think they haven’t settled on anything and that what people are so riled up about are just a bunch of unconnected ‘ideas’. Thus, there isn’t any ‘bill’....what they won’t tell you is that they WILL enact all of these silly ass ideas when they think they have everyone sufficiently bamboozled.

"PG 621 Lines 20-25 Government will define what quality means in health care.

Since when does government know about quality?"

You said a mouth full there.

That "vote him out" was great. What a putz. See how stupid they think people are? There is no health bill, huh? What a jackass.

I don't believe the Anchors poll. There is no way 50 percent of this country wants this garbage plan.

Eden, I laughed hard when he said no
health bill. It is bad enough to lie
but to stand in pouring rain and
tell me it is not raining...hello.

Mark, I don't either. That is an
outright lie. We all have seen the
real polls on this and it is almost
85% that do NOT want it. So that
"50 % wanting it" is laughable.

I know, Chrissie, it's like "nothing to see here...look over there, it's a unicorn!" Actually I think all this distraction is helping the Dems buy some time so they can all get their lies straight.

My favorite still remains this one:

Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., was chased by a crowd saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

I can't stop laughing at the visual of that.
