Obama Lock-Step with Hugo Chavez Moves Toward Formal Cut Off of Aid to Honduras
Obama is openly siding with Marxists Raul Castro, Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega in punishing the government of Honduras.
U.S. moves toward formal cut off of aid to Honduras
U.S. State Department staff have recommended that the ouster of Honduran President Manuel Zelaya be declared a "military coup," a U.S. official said on Thursday, a step that could cut off as much as $150 million in U.S. funding to the impoverished Central American nation.
The official, who spoke on condition he not be named, said State Department staff had made such a recommendation to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who has yet to make a decision on the matter although one was likely soon.
Washington has already suspended about $18 million aid to Honduras following the June 28 coup and this would be formally cut if the determination is made because of a U.S. law barring aid "to the government of any country whose duly elected head of government is deposed by military coup or decree."
The official said that $215 million in grant funding from the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation to Honduras would also have to end should Clinton make the determination that a military coup took place.
About $76 million of that money has already been disbursed and a second U.S. official said this implied that the remaining roughly $139 million could not be given to Honduras should the determination be made.
Diplomats said that the United States had held off making the formal determination to give diplomacy a chance to yield a negotiated compromise that might allow for Zelaya's return to power.
Such efforts, however, appear to have failed for now and so the United States is taking steps -- including its decision on Tuesday to cease issuing some visas at its embassy in Tegucigalpa -- to raise pressure on the de facto government.
"The recommendation of the building is for her to sign it," said the first U.S. official said of the 'military coup" determination, saying this was a response to the de facto government's refusal to accept a compromise that would allow Zelaya to return to power ahead of November elections.
Wild Thing's comment.......
So our foreign policy is now in lock-step with Hugo Chavez. This whole thing is sickening.
Hondurans are showing the world what it means to be a free nation. These people who will stand up and fight for their freedom are my kind of people. We are seeing Honduras take their constitution seriously and we here in the United State do not. I don't mean those of us at this blog and the many Townhall and Tea party etc. people but Obama, his administration, our lefties in government and those that voted of the slime fascist in power and many rino's do not.
Barack HUSSEIN Obama sent $900 million to Hamas-ruled Gaza almost immediately after taking office...now he wants to cut off aid to a nation that just legally booted a fascist president.

Typical Oradical move.
The thing that is really starting to bother me in a big way is I feel like he's setting our military up for major death and demoralization, and there's so much other stuff going on it's being swept under the rug.

Readers, this is a sign of things to come. 52.something percent of Americans are so damned dumb that they didn't see this when they voted for the WON? If only they had read his writings, listened to his campaign speeches, looked into his actions in life; they'd have seen him for the socialist that he is. And, he is not alone, just at the wheel of this transition. The likes of Barbara Boxer, Harebrain Reid, and ol' Stretchface Pelosi are in this with him. He is apologizing for the good that America has done, defending the raghead terrorists of the world, and throwing in with the Marxist/Socialist sorts like the Banana Republic dictators that are his friends and mentors.
This Prez is a stealth Muslim, and has not renounced Islam! If he truly had left the faith, he would be condemned to death. As it is, the Muslim world leaders recognize him for what he is, and are waiting for him to smooth the way here in America. Are you going to help him?
2010 could well be our last chance to keep America American!
We are so screwed!

Cutting off aid will open the door for the legitimate government of Honduras to be undermined by Ortega and Chavez. We'll be seeing more news stories from Honduras in the months to come until a communist regime is installed there. Who would've thought we would see communism spreading like a cancer in the western hemisphere. As it stands now, it will take years to undo the damage Obama has done in 7 months.

I spent a few days in Honduras in the mid 70's. It was a pleasant experience and the people I met were friendly and pro American.
If I had the power to dissolve one government agency it would be the State Dept. They are led by Ivy League elites and have always had an anti American lean. They should be very happy now with Hillary the incompetant and obama the anti-American, Marxist, muslim in the WH.
Jimmy Carter aided the Marxist build up in Central America in the late 70's. He was helped by Senators Ted Kennedy and Pat Leahy and Speaker Jim Wright. President Reagan fought the communists successfully and Central America by the 90's was enjoying peace and freedom. Now it appears we will have another Jimmy Carter era under obama and the Democrat Congress. Shit!

They follow their Constitution and removed a President, Not following their Constitution, Leading their in the Communist direction, Usurping the Rights of the People, and moving their state toward fascism.
Obama wants to cut off aid because they kicked out their illegal president. Obama calls it a Military Coup, yet all the other branches of their government were behind the Military action.
Does Barry see something we don't. Hehehe...we could be so lucky.
