In an astonishing admission, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg says she was under the impression that legalizing abortion with the 1973 Roe. v. Wade case would eliminate undesirable members of the populace, or as she put it "populations that we don't want to have too many of."

Her remarks, set to be published in the New York Times Magazine this Sunday but viewable online now, came in an in-depth interview with Emily Bazelon titled, "The Place of Women on the Court."

The 16-year veteran of the high court was asked if she were a lawyer again, what would she "want to accomplish as a future feminist legal agenda."

Ginsburg responded: Reproductive choice has to be straightened out. There will never be a woman of means without choice anymore. That just seems to me so obvious. The states that had changed their abortion laws before Roe [to make abortion legal] are not going to change back. So we have a policy that affects only poor women, and it can never be otherwise, and I don't know why this hasn't been said more often.

Question: Are you talking about the distances women have to travel because in parts of the country, abortion is essentially unavailable, because there are so few doctors and clinics that do the procedure? And also, the lack of Medicaid for abortions for poor women?

Ginsburg: Yes, the ruling about that surprised me. [Harris v. McRae – in 1980 the court upheld the Hyde Amendment, which forbids the use of Medicaid for abortions.] Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don't want to have too many of. So that Roe was going to be then set up for Medicaid funding for abortion. Which some people felt would risk coercing women into having abortions when they didn't really want them. But when the court decided McRae, the case came out the other way. And then I realized that my perception of it had been altogether wrong.

When pressed to explain what she meant by reproductive rights needing to be straightened out, Ginsburg said, "The basic thing is that the government has no business making that choice for a woman."

Asked if that meant getting rid of the test the court imposed, in which it allows states to impose restrictions on abortion such as a waiting period, the justice said she was "not a big fan of these tests."

I think the court uses them as a label that accommodates the result it wants to reach. It will be, it should be, that this is a woman's decision. It's entirely appropriate to say it has to be an informed decision, but that doesn't mean you can keep a woman overnight who has traveled a great distance to get to the clinic, so that she has to go to some motel and think it over for 24 hours or 48 hours.
I still think, although I was much too optimistic in the early days, that the possibility of stopping a pregnancy very early is significant. The morning-after pill will become more accessible and easier to take. So I think the side that wants to take the choice away from women and give it to the state, they're fighting a losing battle. Time is on the side of change.

I wonder who exactly those “undesirables” are? Unbelievable that she was on the highest court in the land.

Planned parenthood’s founder, Margret Sanger, was a huge proponent of eugenics. And sole purpose of purpose behind Planned Parenthood is to cut down the black population by pushing abortion to the blacks. It has been working for them because more blacks then whites get abortions.

This is the creepiest thing I have read in a long time.

Definitely a strange point of view from a Jew. Relax, I'm Jewish.
So, as an educated woman, I wonder if Justice Ginsburg is up on her history. That being the period from 1933 to 1945, in Europe. My family lost at least 57 members during the Holocaust and a US Supreme Court Justice comes out with a statement such as this.
Undesirables? She would have been considered an undesirable during the period I referenced earlier. She should take that into consideration the next time she opens her mouth on this subject.

This whole thing was started about 1910-1913 by Margaret Sanger. It was officially founded in 1921 as the ABCL American Birth Control league. What Ginsberg is saying is true. This was the purpose of the ABCL to limit "undesirables" purge the society of certain people.

Eugenics and euthanasia

Sanger was a proponent of negative eugenics, a social philosophy which claims that human hereditary traits can be improved through social intervention. In 1939 Margaret Sanger started “The Negro Project”. She enlisted black preachers to support sterilization. The plan was shown in a letter to Clarence Gamble of the Procter and Gamble Empire.

Ironically, obama supports the demise of his own race if the original intent were to be found out.

With this in mind, 30 some years later Roe v. Wade comes along and is upheld by the Supreme Court. Who is the big proponent of Roe, but the democrats and who was the original target of Sterilization, the Blacks. Who does the left Champion, the Blacks, the 'created' victims of the democrat party.


This became the intent of Abortion. This all started early in the 1900's, although at that time it was Birth Control and abortion was a Taboo, when the Progressives were first on the march, to take over the country.

Huh? Is she really that stupid? Why would you even think that way? That could be misconstrued as "RACIST," don't you think? I knew there was a reason I didn't like this woman and it's starting to show. And just who would she say is "UNDESIRABLE?" Those of the wrong skin color? Wrong religion? Handicapped? Just wait until genetic testing gets better and can predict the future of an unborn child and if you don't like the outcome, you can just kill it like it's no big deal.

I see Ginsburg and think of McNamara, both proponents of death. Not all of Hitlers victims were from ethnic cleansing, there were purges of race, religion and political enemies, even 'conservatives' today's targeted group. I don't understand the Jewish, or Christians for that matter. Not all have strange hypocrisies, a lot of them do, yet they value their own life but don't give a whit about the unborn, the physical and mentally impaired or the elderly.
Oh no, don't look, put some money in the plate and turn away, buying both solace and absolution from guilt.
If the fairness doctrine returns maybe regular televised broadcasts of the abortion procedure, especially 'late' term abortion at the 6:00PM to 7:00PM time slot will enlighten the pro choice crowd, what's for dinner?
Growing up my family had some WWII Jewish refugees living with us, sponsored by our church, they lived with us, I was much too young to know the significance of their plight and/or the horrors they'd endured. Sometimes it takes a shock to the system to see the errors of our ways and conditioned beliefs.
When my little girl started school she came home with some questions about dog food and it's being safe to eat, wonder who planted that idea, naturally she was miss know it all. Well we got out the bag of dogfood and we read the ingredients, then I took her on a tour of a Darling-Delaware processing plant, where blood meal, bone meal and meat meal were processed for pet food and gardening supplements, nothing went to waste, intestinal contents went into fertilizers, fats were collected for soap and glycerine, hair for brushes and furniture stuffing, hides for leather. The sources of the raw material were from several slaughter houses, packing plants, meat markets, the spoilage from the supermarkets, the dead from the feedlots and farm animals, road kills etc, it was not limited to one species either, chickens, turkeys, sheep, pigs, horses, cows, dogs, cats, deer and coyotes all made their way into the cooking vats. That eye and nose opening experience has stuck with her, appetite curbed, no she is no longer fascinated by the thought of dogfood as edible for humans.
Kids like to drive fast and ignore the rules? Take them to the mentally damaged ward at the hospital for a look at their potential future, it's a sobering experience for parent or child.

Justice Ginsburg's thinking is too typical of liberal scientific illiterates of her age. They overlook a number of things. A little education is a dangerous thing, particularly in history.

First, there was never an immediate problem. The increase in "undesirable populations" is slow. The potential problems back before we knew about genes were projected to be in the time frame of three to five centuries. Global warming is less threatening but neither is sufficient for Government action to correct anything. If you think that your planning should be in Roman Empire time, you might consider it a concern.

Second, the education of an American child regardless of how much it leaves to be desired still results in a highly productive individual. The economic intangibles make the native born American on average three times more productive than the immigrant and the productivity of the immigrant population does not match the native-born population until the third generation. I am of course talking about only the averages.

Third, we have decoded the gnomes and the steady march of technology will allow engineering design and correction by 2045 at the latest.

The "March of the morons" which was the nickname for the big fear of the socialist in the century between 1850 and 1950, was driven by Darwin's hypothesis of evolution but was never a real threat to civilization.
