Veterans Fight to Keep 75-yr. old Mojave Desert Memorial Cross

In 1934, WWI Veterans erected a monument to honor their comrades who had died in battle. The ACLU now wants to tear it down, and all public memorials like it, because of its religious imagery.

After WWI many U.S. soldiers moved to the Californian desert to find physical and emotional healing. In 1934, they erected a memorial to honor their fallen comrades, a single white cross, - a symbol used around the world to memorialize those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

The site for the memorial was chosen because at a certain time of day, the sun casts a shadow on the rock which resembles a WWI doughboy. For more than 75 years, the memorial has stood as a reminder that there were those who fought and died for our freedoms. But sadly today, the ACLU and a federal judge in California, want to tear it down. In fact, the judge has ordered the memorial covered from view while the case is on appeal. Please join us in saying "donttearmedown." We think Americans should honor their war heroes and the freedoms they so valiantly protect; and we're taking our case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court this fall. Please join us in this battle, go to www.donttearmedown.com.

The Mojave Desert Memorial Cross has stood proudly for over 75 years, honoring our American war dead. Or it was until the ACLU stepped in and got a judge to rule the memorial to World War I veterans unconstitutional. They covered the cross with a bag, and when that didn't work, they boarded it up in a plywood box. Now, they're threatening to tear down this national monument because they don't believe America should have religious imagery anywhere on public property.

Wild Thing's comment........

The ACLU is so terrible, they stand along side the worst of America like Obama whom they backed. They all have a special place in hell.

God bless these American Heroes, I sure hope they can keep their Memorial.

"rule the memorial to World War I veterans unconstitutional"- HA! The ACLU is unconstitutional

"they boarded it up in a plywood box" - HA! Somebody should box up ACU Lawyers in plywood boxes. Be sure they are in the sun in the Mojave.

Rotten scumbags. They should all be shot or confined to a religious santuary, with as many Bibles and religious icons we can find. Especially, Christ, our Lord. Oh and do not forget the Torah.

One simple cross really puts the fear of God in these people. I guess the reasoning is all WW I vets are gone now so why keep the cross. What a bunch of bastards.

Maybe it's time Veterans take the fight up, again, against one of the most dangerous enemies of the US, the ACLU. Maybe we need to fight them the way we fought the other enemies of this country.

The American Communist Lawyers Union wants to destroy everything that is traditional in America. I don't know what their purpose is or what's in it for them. I just know that they are a very dangerous group and have been effective at using The Constitution to help destroy that same Constitution.

Every time the ACLU files a suit, by current law, their lawyers are paid from your taxes. Pro Bono means they get paid for their expenses by adjudication, like a stock broker being paid the transaction fee, can't lose either way.

One religion escapes secular scrutiny every time by the ACLU, care to guess which one.

I respectfully disagree Steve, "They should all be shot or confined to a religious santuary", I disagree, only on the "or confined to a religious santuary" part.

Ready on the firing line!!!

Mark, they really are horrible people.
Years ago when we lived in Calif. one
of our neighbors asked me if I belonged
to the ACLU. I had never heard of it
before so I innocently just answered
no I, what is it? She flppped out and
turned to me and stood up and gave me
the finger. I was so shocked I had
no idea what to say, I guess my jaw
dropped and my eyes got big and she
yelled I am leacving and I won't be
back.

I must have said goodbye I don't
remember I think I said it but
well after she had gone out the door.

When Nicholas got home I asked him
what ACLU was and told him what
had happened. He told me about it
and was glad she was not going
to be coming back over to our house.
Wow she really got scary.

BobF, you are all American heroes and
you all deserve so much better then
this kind of thing happening.

Something sick has entered our country
and like some kind of horrible virus
in the souls of some of the people.
The problem is the sick ones like the
ACLU have been given such a loud voice
and power. They should have been banned
or stopped from the get go.

Tom, that is exactly what they do.
They use our Constitution and like
this situation they are using it
against those who fought to keep it
and took an oath to defend it.
grrrrrrr

Jack, thanks for the links. Yes they will
never go after Islam.
They are one of the biggest enemies of our
country.
