U.S. Troop Withdrawl From Iraqi Cities

Clips of the Aftermath of 2 weeks of suicide bombings. Where are those Moderate Muslims who should be outraged by this? Its terrible the world supports Islamic Terror rather than supporting America and its Allies who are capturing and destroying cold blooded killers. The past 2 weeks there have been over 200 people blown up dead all across Iraq. Too bad the world doesnt speak in a loud voice against these atrocities delivered by Muslim terrorists.

During March and April 2009 U.S. generals repeatedly talked about asking the Iraqis to stay in certain unstable cities past the summer deadline set by the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA).

February 2009 President Obama announced his plan to pull out of Iraq. Following the SOFA, all U.S. troops have to be out of Iraqs cities and towns by June 30, 2009.

After Iraqs provincial elections, combat troops will be drawn down leaving behind a force of 35,000-50,000 that will ultimately leave by December 31, 2011. Either side can end the agreement or amend it if both sides agree. There is also supposed to be an Iraqi referendum on the SOFA in July 2009.

Wild Thing's comment.....

I am so worried about our troops, this is an extremely time for them. The terrorists are already and why wouldn't they be the date was announced in plenty of time for them to plan all kinds of madness and killings.

And there is this too that it is IRAN is behind the recent bombings in Iraq.

There is one other thing, these Iraqi's have tasted freedom, and a taste that was paid for with the blood and death and wounded of our military brave warriors. Many do not want our troops to leave, they are glad when they see an American soldier and of course there are others that want to have us out of there. To those that want us to be gone, I say this..... that TASTE of FREEDOM is up to you to keep it, hold it dear, fight for it . We may have to do the same thing again in our own country the United States.

Me too! My nephew may only be a mechanic, but he's had to defend himself as well as his coworkers. He has to drive his wrecker, he's had to be the top gunner, he has been under enemy fire when moving from one camp to another. Vietnam was the same way--as soon as we started pulling out, the enemy made a mess of things and of course, America got blamed for it.
I can't wait until he's home safe and sound. He's looking forward to college life-he's been accepted at Iowa State University already.

Back in 1975 after driving Nixon out of office and cuting off aid to Vietnam and Cambodia over Gerald Ford's veto at the end of 1974, then Congressman Chris Dodd gave a statement that cutting off military aid to Cambodia was the very best aid we could provide the Camodian people.

Even after the Communists and kill a third of the population and enslaved the rest Dodd did not apologize. I wonder what percentage of dead Iraqis he is shooting for? Does anyone want to bet on how he will vote on 'Cap and Trade'?

I could only cry after reading this article and the one previously regarding this. My son is currently stationed in Iraq. He is new to the Marine Corp, graduating from his specialty school in Feb and being attached to a battalion that deployed in March. Although, his older brother has already served his time in Iraq, it was much different. My youngest son's battalion is currently located in one of the most remote and isolated bases in Iraq near the Syrian border. They are scheduled to move, but who knows when or to where.

Thank goodness these articles are being posted so that I can let him know that they all need to stay alert and safe!

Avitar, spot on, we are seeing it played out again and again.

Lynn, I'm praying for your nephew too, he and I have a lot in common. RVN MOS of 63C30. MOS numbers change but the job never does.
God bless your son too Jada, I do love the Marines. Some things never change in a war zone.

Thanks for posting this Chrissie.

Back when the New Jersey was put on stand down off the DMZ(pun intended) the proverbial brown stuff hit the fan, not that our friends weren't already harassing us, it just was their green light to proceed with impunity.
What most folks don't know or understand is that the military operates portal to portal, be it Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines, those feet on the ground need beans and bullets, in between is what is called 'injun territory'. Something as simple as bringing ice for the field medics to keep their plasma and drugs from spoiling or that always indispensable commodity, water. Ask any fighter about water, it's as valuable as ammo, often moreso. Some poor soul has to deliver to and from those portals, that wrecker Lynn's nephew operates is a vital part of every trip into and through 'injun territory', they are used to tow disabled vehicles, off load and on load supplies and that mechanic often gets left behind out there in the attempt to get that untowable dead vehicle up and running while the rest move on to their destination. It's a lonely, thankless job with it's unique risks. With maybe 4 warm bodies for security at best, even as low as 2, you and the other guy in the doo doo. You can bet your bippy that basic infantryman is your primary MOS all the time. Those folks supporting the warriors deserve equal billing in the nasty thing known as war.

Here is an apt description regardless of combat arms or REMF:

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America," for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Seem's to me that Democrats spend that blank check in vain.

My opinion of people in Iraq that want to US to go are that they are the ones that want to take over the government by force. Sucha as, al Sader, who is a dangerous snake. We should have blown his ass up in that mosk he was hiding in.

Perhaps some 'inocent, well meaning Iraqies' want us to go too so those like al-Sadar do not have any excuse any more. I view them as blind.

to our country.
They are in my prayers every day and
I am so grateful for their service.

Jada, there is very little coming from

but as I find things I will post about them.

Jack, yes the democrats need a hard lesson
taught to them about respecting our military
I wish it was possible.

Posted by: Wild Thing at June 30, 2009 12:17 AM

Odin, I agree, it seems they are few in
number but they are the ones that want
what you said.
