That was a time in America when we could laugh at our nationalities, race, and ourselves without being offended or traumatized for life.

Don Rickles, Dean Martin, Bob Hope, Ronald Reagan, Nipsy Russell, Charlton Heston, Jimmie Stewart, Jack Benny, Milton Burrow, Freddie Prince. Can you imagine being there with all these great entertainers in one room?

That was great entertainment in those days. Real talent, clean comedy. I think I saw every Dean Martin Roast and laughed myself silly.

O'Reilly last night had on Deana Martin, the daughter of Dean. She has a new book out all about her father.

One question O'reilly asked was how was this all scripted.

She said it was set up in a format for the people doing the roast. However, when it came to Don Rickles, he didn't follow a script and they could never predict or control what he was going to say. Those were some really great shows.

BobF., I agree, one of the things that
has taken on a whole new meaning is when
a person says now..."Those were the good
ole days." I have heard it before in my
life but to say it now it should be in
bold print with an explanation point.

Tom, me too, I love watching them. They
always make me laugh so hard.

Nick used to play pool with him and Don
was so funny even when he was just relaxing
and playing pool.
