Obama Tries Out His Salute


This is another time he saluted while there, not the one mentioned in the article.The article says he used his right hand at the base in Hawaii.
This photo above however is Obama and his LEFTY salute fumbling with his cell phone.

Obama is not in the executive chain of the military, has not been sworn in as President, isn't an officer of any kind, is saluting with his left hand, isn't facing anyone in particular, is holding an object in his hand, has no recognizable uniform, and for some bloody reason took the initiative to salute a USMC Lance Corporal.

He’s not the commander in chief yet, but was President-elect Barack Obama briefly practicing his salute on Sunday?

On the first morning of his vacation here, Mr. Obama arrived at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii for his daily workout. As he walked out of the Semper Fit Center, his gray T-shirt soaked in sweat, he lifted his right hand and gave a quick salute to two Marines in fatigues who were standing in the distance.

The brief moment was not captured by cameras. Photographs and video were not permitted to be taken on the military base, according to campaign aides.

Mr. Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, opened their day with a 45-minute workout inside a large gymnasium at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, which is located on the Mokapu Penninsula on the windward side of Oahu, about 30 minutes outside Honolulu. It is sunny and warm here, a world away, at least in terms of the weather, from Chicago.

The Marine base seemed sleepy when the motorcade rolled through shortly after 7 a.m. Home to the 3rd Marine Regiment, Marine Aircraft Group 24 and the 3rd Radio Battalion, the base is located only a few minutes from where the Obamas are staying, a rented home at the end of a series of cul-de-sacs (and security barricades) along Kailuana Place.

Mr. Obama, who arrived to his native Hawaii on Saturday afternoon, is taking a 13-day holiday vacation with his family and a few friends from Chicago. At least some work, though, followed him to Hawaii.

He is receiving his daily national security briefing and his transition team is scheduled on Monday or Tuesday to release an internal review of any contacts between his advisers and the Illinois governor’s office over filling his vacant Senate seat. That is the subject of a corruption case and federal investigation into Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich.

Mr. Obama is not expected to address the inquiry, but rather have it released through a written statement from Washington.

Insiders said Obama and his family will hold a private funeral service for his grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, while they are in Hawaii. However, officials with the National Memorial of the Pacific at Punchbowl Cemetery said nothing had been finalized.

The president-elect, after filling his Cabinet in record-setting pace, is taking a break. On tap for the rest of his Sunday? An afternoon tee-time and 18 holes of golf.

The Obamas and the families of two or three friends will stay at a Windward Oahu beachside villa with three multimillion-dollar homes. Each wraps around a lagoon-style swimming pool, with palm trees, grassy lawns and retractable glass walls for views of the beach.

The compound he is renting costs $8,250.00 per day.

calling yourself an American first wouldn't allow you to say this. democratically electing out rulers is the essense of what it means to be an American. and accepting and acknowledging the results of that vote when your side loses is the essense of what democracy means. it is the Constitution that declares who your president is. it is the results of the vote that determines who your president is. to respect the office of the presidency obligates us to do the above.

this does not mean you have to respect the man who has the right to claim the title of the presidency. this does not mean that you have to like addressing him as Mr. President if ever given the opportunity to do so. all it means is, that you are an American in a very special sense of the word.

Until he produces a legal birth certificate(as required by the Constitution), I consider Obama a Kenyan. A foreign born person cannot be President.

Actually, calling ourselves Americans first means DEMANDS that we say that. Obama has said in no uncertain terms that he does not intend to uphold the Constitution, most specifically the Second Amendment. Therefore, the oath of office he takes will be a lie.

To call this man our president would be to betray the Constitution, not support it.

Griper, I will show as much respect for obama as the left showed President Bush. I have never seen a President disrespected as much as President Bush.

First obama is a usurper, He can not or will not prove, McCain did, that he is a legitimate Citizen.

Second obama is a liar, a cheat and in all likelihood a thief. Obama stole the election, paid for it with money obtained illegally from Foreign sources related to George Soros. He also has ties to communism and obam is himself a pure dyed in the wool socialist.

So Griper if you want to jump on the obama Socialist bandwagon but you will be the first target when it is time to 'rock and roll'.

Sycophants like 'The Griper' who spend all their time in front of those red diaper doper baby professors wouldn't have a clue about the qualities of a true leader. Neither have they invested in the country, it's security or it's defense. One can't help but wonder if he cheered the loss of life on 9-11 or simply griped about Bush, likely both. Until Barack Obama produces a valid birth certificate to document that he is a citizen, as millions of Americans do all the time, he may have the title of "President" but his full title, in fact, will be Illegitimate President Barack Hussein Obama. i agree, but neither you nor i have the right to make that determination, only the courts do. you and i may not agree with the courts in regards to any decision but it is their determination that is law. there have been many determination by the courts that i have not agreed with but that does not men we should not abide by those decisions.

now since nobody bothered to address my reasons but instead decided that they only need to demean me and without success i might add i can only say that my argument holds.

i will only add one more thing. once obama is inaugurated, that is if he is, i have enough respect for the military that if they salute him s their leader then i will too. and i think 80% of those troopers will not like it but they'll still do it and so will i. now, if that puts me in a lone position in this blog, so be it. i stand alone in here but with head held high.

i liked your response to my comment even if it was something said by Roosevelt rather than your own personal thoughts. the key words in that quote though are the words "oppose" and "support".

being opposed to someone is the essense of democracy. there is no democracy without opposition. but, being in opposition does not mean we should not recognize someone as they should be recognized. if we declare that we only recognize those persons we support as being our president, then democracy is dead.

now, to clarify my position on this i'll say that i am opposed to the idea of Obama being inaugurated as the president of this nation. i will also say i support these lawsuits that he prove his qualifications in a court of law. i am also in support of the bill hjr9 that was introduced in the ohio legislature.

but i will also say that if these endeavors does not pan out in the way i would like i would have to accept the inevitable outcome. and that outcome is that he is qualified therefore i will recognize him as my president. the support he gets from me will depend on how he performs his duties.

and that is far more than the opposition gave to President Bush.
