Republican Convention

As of writing this post I am not sure the final decision of what the plans are. As you know I posted the schedule last week but things have changed due to Gustav. -- Wild Thing

This is the latest as of 6:20 this morning.

Delegates Supportive of GOP Convention Changes

Fox News

As delegates descended upon Minneapolis amid reports that the GOP convention would be altered in response to potentially catastrophic Hurricane Gustav, few, if any, voiced opposition to the changes.

Organizers of the Republican National Convention canceled all speeches and program activities for Monday beyond the official procedures that are required under party rules.

“It’s definitely appropriate,” Mississippi delegate Michael Cravens told FOXNews.com. “We know that while the convention is extremely important to our nation, there is nothing more important than the safety of the people affected by the hurricane.”
“When there’s a conflict between governance and politics, you have to choose governance. Neither Bush nor Cheney is on the ballot this year so I think it’s perfectly appropriate for them to be where they need to be, which is with the folks in the affected areas,” said Trey Grayson, a delegate and secretary of state from Kentucky, who agreed with President Bush’s decision to skip out on the convention and instead spend opening night Monday with evacuees and emergency responders in Texas.
"What most people don’t realize is that legally we have to have a convention. We have to nominate John McCain and Sarah Palin otherwise there’s no election in the fall,” Greyson said.

It is extremely appropriate, but you wouldn't see the dummys doing this. They had to put their guy on a pedestal, meaning he's above all of us.
Wrong-o! The President is NOT above any of us. The President is an ordinary citizen like you and me. No one (and the dummys claim they abide by this and that we should too) is above anyone. But to look at how they've elevated Obama bin Biden, it's like the Gods have spoken only to them. Yeah, the God must be crazy! These are no Gods.
I appreciate and support this decision. We don't need fancy parties with balloons and whistles and funny party hats to pick our nominees. We are the more down to earth, comfortable party. hey, we're happy to get hamburgers and hot dogs! we are very satisfied and happy in our choices.

yes that's right neither Bush or Cheney are on the ticket but they are still running against them. They are getting cheers but for what ?

It looks like at this point it will be an almost empty convention as far as leaders go.

They got Bush at a command center where he looks totally out of place. All because the people of New Orleans wouldn't evacuate when they were told to do so last time. Since Bush has been in office
there have been many hurricanes to hit Florida and none of those disasters have been covered as badly as Katrina was. Now why is that ?

Why is it that Katrina was treated any differently that the numerous Hurricanes that hit Florida. Why was N.O. singled out as so tragic ? When added up over the 8 years of Bush, damage was at least equal to or greater than Katrina. But nary a word from the press. FEMA responded as they usualy do and things got back to normal, pretty much.

It is what Don Fowler said, the dems milked Katrina for all it was worth. One of obamas buddies Farrakan said, Bush blew up a levy, and thees nitwits believed it.

So for all intents and purposes we are responding to a fear of what the press and the dems would otherwise call a slow response.

I mean come on Bush promised 350 Billion dollars and what have they done with it. They rebuilt a couple of levies and the Superdome. Where'd the rest of the money go, I'll tell you where into democrat pockets.

It won't matter how much of an effort the Republicans put out to reach out and save and protect these people the press and obama and ILK will find something wrong with it. They found a weak spot and are going to hit us again.

So I wonder is it worth the losing the convention over? I know it would look bad, and again we are responding to what others perceive.

Lynn, they sure did work their fingers to the bone so to speak pushing their Obama jerk into an idol for them to worship. It is so sickening.
